Sortilegio January 8, 2010 Once, Twice, Three Times a Baby.
From yesterday
Gabriel and Paula are talking about Roberto. Gabe wants to know if she is in love with him. (Like it's any of your business). She says no. He's married. He says that she and Roberto are not in the same class. She reminds Gabe that MJ and Alex are not in the same class either and she's come away with a pretty sweet deal. FF>>.
Useless visits Roberto in the hospital. He tries to touch Roberto's hand but Robert pulls away. Useless wants him to help with Sandra.
Today:
Maura wants to know what Lissette's problem is. She says she is fine. Maura doesn't believe her and wants to know why she believes that. She says she doesn't hurt. Maura thinks Lissette looks tired and says she is going to the doctor.
MJ and Felipa are talking to the baby. Cuko barks outside the door. Poor Cuko. They talk baby talk to Tony. FF>>
Katia runs into Bruno outside. He pushes her away. She says she is bored. Bruno wants to know who Elena is. She says she met her when she was at her Tio's and they hung out together. Bratia says she talked about Sandra. His ears perk up. He kisses her. Hmmmm...somebody is scheming again.
Katia and Bruno walk in the house together. Fernando looks pissed. Katia gets a hug from Victoria but she snubs Bruno.. Fernando just glares at him. He grabs Katia and takes her home. Bruno says the only one honest in this family is him. Alex laughs (as does Viewerville. Actually my laugh was more of a snort. If I had been drinking milk it would have come out of my nose just like when my brothers would make me laugh at the dinner table. But I digress). Alex lists all the “honest” things Bruno has done. Let's see, Married MJ under a false name,,,check, tried to kill him...check, trying to take over the company...check, killing the judge...check, putting Pedro in jail. Sounds pretty honest to me. Victoria gets in between them. Damn! I was hoping for a good fight. Bruno practically stomps his little foot and says I want to be the president or nothing. (Maybe when pigs fly big boy!) Alex, says uh, ok dude, then you get nothing! Bruno wants Victoria to go against Alex. Bruno mistakenly thinks it is his right as the oldest son. She tells him he is not honest like he says. She believes that he is wicked and hateful. How can you say that about me? Waaaaa! Big baby.
Victoria is upset and wants Felipa to call Fernando.
Useless and Maura are talking. Bruno walks up and wants to know what is going on.
Alex is holding Tony. He wakes up MJ and tells her Tony is hungry, Lots of baby talk. She prepares to nurse. Where is her big ugly nursing bra with the flaps that hide the little pads that keep you from leaking through your clothes? They talk about how happy they are with each other with the baby . The baby nurses quietly. How sweet....Yawn...
Maura warns Useless to be careful of Bruno.
Next day Team Alex is eating breakfast. MJ wants to go visit her dad. Victoria thinks it is too early for the baby to travel. The helicopter is ready. Alex and Paula head off to visit Pedro.
Fer would really like Bratia to go back to school. Uh, no! Work? (Are you serious?) Of course she doesn't want to do that. He says she can't just sit around doing nothing all day. She says Maura does it. Fer tries to impress her with all the things that Maura has done. Bratia is so impressed—NOT. She still wants him to buy her a car. She begs and begs and begs. Shut the he!! up already. Fer will buy her a car if she does something that I didn't hear because I turned down the sound. You know she is serious because she pinky swears.
We switch to Sandra still in a coma. I didn't even have to look up because I heard the techno music. The nurse is giving her something in her IV tube. Elena wants to know what it is. The nurse says it is something the doctor has prescribed. Elena calls Useless and wants to know what is going on. He wants to take the child so MJ will go along with the plan.
Back at the lab whats-his-name is playing with his-- mouse. Elena comes in and asks him what that is on his computer screen. He says they are images of Sandra's brain. He explains something to her and says he wants to treat it with electroshock therapy.
Alex and Paula are at the jail with the Abogado. Chucho is there talking to Pedro. The background noise was really loud so I missed some stuff. Pedro wants to know how the girls are. Chucho says they are doing as well as expected. Paula is shouting for her dad. He's happy to see her. Alex wants Chucho to ride with them in the helicopter but Chucho says no way is he getting into that death trap. Alex laughs.
Maura shows up at Lombardo Construction. She makes an impatient gesture for the guard to open the door. He shakes his head at her rudeness. She asks Mari if her office is ready. That doesn't sound good. She wants to see Alex and Mari tells her he's not in and doesn't know where he is. Abogado says he will serve a minimum of 6 months. Everyone wants to help him but, ever the victim, he's ready to accept the 6 months. Paula shows him a picture of the baby.
Maura is bellowing for Mari and runs into Fernando. She takes him into her office. She thinks she needs a secretary. What about Katia? Uh oh. I think that's a bad idea. She wants to know where Alex is. He's gone to talk to his father-in-law. She comments on how much scandal the family has caused.
EZ is waiting for Alex when they arrive home. MJ want to know how her dad is doing.
Katia is visiting with Lissette. She want to go have fun and Lissette doesn't really want to go. Bratia drags her out the door.
Alex is talking to MJ and she wants to know how her dad is doing. He's in the jail. He's doing the best that he can. She is upset and cries. He puts the baby to bed. He doesn't want MJ to cry. They are doing what they can. Shes worried that Tony isn't getting enough milk and they talk about bottle feeding.
One month later
The baby is in his room. Everyone is fussing over him. Victoria is congratulating MJ on the nursery. The nurse is there (not a nun. I'm so disappointed). More fussing over the baby. Alex drags her out of the room.
Did Baby Tony breathe a sigh or was that just me?
Bruno and Katia are congressing. (Apparently Bruno needs more info.) Katia mentions something about Useless and her brother but I just couldn't catch it all so please fill in.
Fer is talking to Victoria in a snit. He says she never has time for him. What a whiney baby. He wants her to have time for him. He hears that Hernan is there. She has to go. For Hernan you have time but not for me. You always tell me you are busy. Victoria says she has to talk to him about Raquel. Fernando.shut.up.
Hernan supposedly comes to talk about Raquel but he puts the moves on Victoria. She doesn't want to talk about it right now. He loves her sincerely. He wants her to give him the opportunity. She can only think of her daughter. He's always thinking about her and her happiness. Ack!
MJ and Alex are getting in some quality time it looks like. She doesn't like Tony being in the other room. Dun, dun, dun.
Victoria is telling Felipa Raquel is coming home and she and Felipa are hiding all the alcohol. Victoria thanks Felipa for her help. They will search the house and get every bottle.
Victoria is talking to Roberto. There is nothing more they can do for her. She thinks Roberto should live in the chalet and Raquel in the house.
Victoria goes to pick up Raquel. She still sounds hateful. Hard to hear the conversation. She wants to know if Robert accused her. Victoria tells her no.
Pedro runs into Rufino in the jail. What a coincidence. I guess Rufino didn't get out as promised and wants to know what is going on. Pedro doesn't know anything. Rufino puts the beat-down on Pedro. Poor Pedro. The guards show up and break it up.
Back at the house Raquel is already mouthing off. Raquel wants to go back to her house. Victoria thinks it is better to live at the house with her. They need to watch her. She might go buy alcohol. Duh, you think?
Lissette isn't hungry. Maura wants to know what she is going to do. She'll go to the doctor when when she wants to.
Victoria is telling Felipa that Raquel wants to live in the Chalet. She's afraid she'll drink and affect the baby. Raquel is frantically searching for alcohol. She's going crazy. I say give her some antabuse. That might settle her down. Raquel calls EZ. She wants alcohol. Ez says no way. She doesn't care. She wants it and she wants it now. (Like brother, like sister.) She runs over to Bruno's house looking for alcohol. Ah, score! She is overjoyed.
Chucho is coming to visit Pedro and finds out he is in the infirmary. There was an altercation. Pedro looks pretty bad. Chucho is allowed to visit him. Chucho is not happy and wants to know who did this to him. He says it was Rufino. He's the one to who turned him in. Pedro doesn't want to worry Alex. He wants to know how everyone is doing.
Alex arrives home in the helicopter. He gets a call from the abogado who tells him that Rufino, the one who turned in Pedro, beat the crap out of him and Pedro is in the infirmary.
Paula is in the hospital feeding Roberto. He wants to know if she's seen Raquel. He tells her that he gets out of the hospital tomorrow. He wants to know if Useless has talked to Raquel. She says she doesn't think so.
Alex wants to know how Tony is doing. He's fine of course. In fact, he is the only real baby in the show not acting like a baby, but a perfect angel. Alex reminds her that they can now get married. She can't get married with her dad in the carcel. Recording ends.

Thanks, Connie, for an informative recap. Question: Why did one month have to pass? Was it so we could see poor little Tony moved to his own room, and thus placed directly under the looming TN anvil?
And Pedro did look rough. Do we think that Rufino was paid to give him that beating?
Finally, I thought Maura was bitchy but very beautiful and hot in that purple leather dress. I know one would never wear such a garment to work, but WOW! She looked great in it!

Elna June I agree about Maura's purple dress but how rude was she to the valet driver and the guy who opens the door.She is so full of herself.
She definitely didn't score any points with Ferdumbo with her comments about MJ's family.
Bruno had Eric set it up that Ruffino to get arrested.Once that was done Eric visited Ruffino at the jail.
He told him to implicate Pedro with the promise he was going to be released by doing that.
When Bruno didn't get MJ's vote, Erik called him asked what about Ruffino? Bruno response was what do i care why should i help him get out.
He had served his purpose already.
Ruffino feeling like he was doubled crossed by Pedro because Erick also told him the person who ratted him out was Pedro too.
That's why he gave Pedro that beat down.

thanks for the recap. It was good to get a sense of "he said" "she said" etc. At least 45 minutes of dialogue was roughed out enough to make sense of all the talking

Thanks for the recap, Connie. Always enjoy your down to earth style of expression. It annoys me how they always talk about mother's milk not being enough. Get a La Leche person over for Pete's sake! Actually there's a field of lactation counselors now who provide counsel. Amazing. Oh well, guess the formula is prep for the baby getting kidnapped. Ugh.
I thought that too JudyB. How do you think they will kidnap him? Just waltz in and take him? Or be sneaky and get him when everyone is asleep? I sure hope they don't kidnap him. I hate that kind of thing. Remember how long we had to sit through Slofia and her missing baby? Ack.
I liked Maura's dress too Elna June. What does she think she is going to do all day there at the office? I don't recall her getting any kind of position there. Maybe I just don't remember.

Glad to read Maura does seem genuinely concerned for her sister's health. I don't like it when the villains are all bad...they should have at least one redeeming characteristic to make them plausible human beings. It looks like Maura's is her conern for her sis.Still don't know what Bruno's redeeming characteristic is which is why I think of him more as a cartoon than real villain.

Just the look on Bruno's face when he said he was honest cracked me up. Like, "I don't understand why you don't belive me!" I keep expecting to see horns grow out of his head.
Thanks Connie. Appreciate the recap. There were a few cringe-worthy moments last night and I actually switched to the BCS game to miss them.
The scene with our new "mad doctor" just set me off the deep end when I saw the puppies in the cage. Oh no he doesn't and I switched the dial, so I missed that whole segment.
Katia is back with way too much screen time, oh joy. Conversation with her and Fer...switch.

Seeing a pattern here?
The Rack is just beyond comprehension. Why release her if she is so bent on getting back to her old habits and endangering the baby. With their bucks, why not hire a full time nurse or care giver to watch her every move. No, they leave her to wander the property. Of course she's going to find booze. Unreal.At least they won't make poor Robert co-habitate with her.
We have just way too many unsavory characters in this TN. Where's a natural disaster or car wreck to eliminate a few when you need one? Useless,Elena and her lunatic hubby get my vote for the first to go.
As for our newest character, I could watch little Tony all day. What a doll! Wanted to reach through the TV and just squeeze him. The scene with Alex taking MJ out of the room was very cute and his own interaction with this angel is wonderful to watch. He must be the best father in real life.

why does Maura get an office I didnt think Alex/MJ sold her that many shares to warrant her actually working at tht office.

Cubsfan. I agree that it's nice to see at least one tiny redeeming characteristic, but honestly--Maura has enough bucks to have a nurse/phlebotomist come right to the house and have her sister's blood taken. It's clear there is something seriously wrong. I'm suspecting this illness will be the way these two pathetic sisters get redeemed....by realizing there is more to life than lunching and jacuzzing and stealing husbands.
Connie, great recap, very funny. I thought it was amusing that Alex woke Mary Jo up to change little Tony's diaper. I guess he's not been trained or certified in such a complex task. Oh, that's right. He needed to be fed, too. Has her milk come in yet? I don't recall.

Carlos- I don't think Alex woke her up just to change the diaper. Our bonbon is a much better dad than that. He said the baby had already been changed, but he needed to eat- something Alex could not provide. her milk had come in, but it looks like then she started having trouble producing enough. One of my best friends' moms in high school was a lactation consultant, so she was always educating us on everything lactation related, and my firend was already an expert by the time she was 15. We helped her explain to a new mom how to use a breast pump one day when her mom couldn't be there. Not sure how this lady felt about having a group of teenagers give her pointers on pumping. ;)
Thought it funny how Alex said he was fed formula from the bottle and he didn't turn out so bad. Lol! Indeed!
I think they need Tony off the breast and in his own room for a number of reasons in the plot. For one, it gives MJ more freedom to move around outside of the Lombardo manse. I hope a kidnapping doesn't happen, but it also facilitates that.

It can be detailed or sparse, complete or unfinished, filled with technical problems, straight forward or wandering. Couldn't believe after a one-month stay in rehab Raqui is still so into her disease. Why would she be released for heaven's sake? If she were in recovery there would be no need to hide the booze, so she's obviously not recovering. Too bad because it looks like there will be problems with the baby for sure now (since we've been warned).

Pedro is such a sad-sack. I can't stand him either. He's got that "poor me" mentality kind of like Aurora on MEPS. Makes me crazy. People that act like perpetual victims just annoy me. You can either sit around and whine about whatever or you can get your head out of you butt and do something about it.
HGR, I think Maura's office is simply one of the many vanity offices that exist the throughout corporate world. During my brief stint in corporate America (before running back to the NGO world), there were literally 24 offices of folks who showed up only for the quarterly board meetings. Yet, they were fully equipped and staffed year round. So am not surprised if Maura wanted, was given a plush office even if she only has 10% of the shares. But it begs the question where are Vicky, MJ and Hernan's offices at the Lombardo Corp since they presumbly, esp. Vucky and Mj, have the majority of stock??

I used to work for an elderly attorney who had an office and only came in on the days his cleaning lady was coming because she drove him crazy. He was a really nice man.
Anon., "Vanity Office" is the perfect term for Maura's new corporate digs and that explains why she has one. Didn't know it was so widespread in the corporate world. Now I get it.
I do know retired executives who keep an office for occasional visits (like the day the cleaning lady is coming ;-)--funny), but was surprised to see Maura establishing hers.

As for what Katia promised Fernando she'd do, it was just "take advantage of the opportunity", which I guess implies a job, but really means nothing. How could Fernando agree to give her a car, when she's been nothing but immature from day one?
I noticed that Felipa said all the alcohol was locked up except for a few bottles in her own room she kept hidden. So when Raquel found the bottles, I thought that was in Felipa's room, but I guess it was actually Bruno's.

However, with little Tony in his own room and someone else providing the milk, it is definitely an anvil hanging over him and not a mobile of carousel animals. Oddly enough, I just happened to catch about 30 min. of another TN on earlier in the day called Tormenta en Paraiso. Guess what, there was a big Lurch-type guy who had just kidnapped an infant; a scheme apparently cooked up by his own mother to get the money from the ransom (and Gabriel the artist is in it and so is German the slimy attorney from ENDA).
BTW, in the list ranking the supporting characters and the actors portraying them, I don't recall anyone mentioning Hernan. To me, he is the consumate doctor-family friend, advisor, father figure and yes, trying to get into Vick's bed. He's proper at all times. As for Poor Pedro, I'm also tired of his Sad Sack character, but he plays it well. I got a flash of his potential when he's in his prison garb, behind bars, talking to (can't recall if it was Chucho the first time or Alex's attorney)--he was standing straight, slightly in profile, clean shaven and his hair was combed. I can see him in another more sympathetic role.

Maura had requested the office as part of the deal with her buying the stock shares. I guess she saw this as a way to see Alex everyday.

Did Useless give Roberto much info on what he's planning in his next scheme? He invited him to join in, but it seems when he sensed Roberto's hesitation/revulsion he didn't reveal much. I would hope/expect that Roberto would tell Alex if he heard that Useless/Maura/Elena were planning to harm MJ and/or Tony.

It looks like they gave us a new baby for month-old Tony. Just as cute as "new-born" Tony, and adorable as he was sleeping in his crib in his new room.
I still remember how they used the same baby (looked like a 6-7 motnh old) in Cuidado from newborn stage til when he should have been 2 years old! Everytime I checked back into that show after a couple of weeks, people would have been married and divorced or changed careers, and the baby was still the same. Lol!

I'm just full of questions today. Why is Vicky pulling away from Fernando after they made so much progress? After her argument with Bruno (when he oh so hilariously professes his status as the only "clean" member of the family) she asks Felipa to call Fer and make an excuse as to why she CAN'T see him as planned that night. And when we see them one month later, it seems that she has continued this strategy of avoiding him. Why?

Loved the recap Connie. I'm still worried about the babynapping plot especially with Bruno wanting more info about Sandra. Katia is so dumb doesn't she realize Bruno only sees her to get info and a booty call. Pedro sure was worked over. I felt bad for him. When are we going to find out what's wrong with Lissette since we keep getting scenes of her not feeling well and not eating. In the previews, Maura takes a pic of MJ and baby and forwards the pic to Elena. I'm scared for baby Tony. Raquel doesn't care at all about her unborn child. She only cares about getting stone cold drunk. She should've went to jail. At least she wouldn't have any access to any alcohol there.

Newbie in Md. The actor playing Pedro was quite charming in Amor Real. In that one he was a folksy, down to earth kind of guy. Helpful and endearing, a little rough around the edges of course.
Pedro's sadsackness, so irritating, is ramped up by that saaaaad plaintive music that plays everytime he appears. I think I could probably handle him if that darned music would just blip off! Lordy!

As for Sorti when they started this novela they kind of screwed around with the numbers of years and how old a teenage Bruno and a young Alex should be.
It wasn't coinciding with the age of the young actors they were using.The number of years was misused with Vicki and Samuel leaving Mexico and going to London.
When they do that i just throw my hands up and say i give on guessing how old who anyone is.

I think the issue that caused the confusion about the timeline was the way they wrote the time passing. I think there was confusion about "10 years later" versus "10 years ago", etc. At least that's what I remember was causing so many problems with us understanding the timeline earlier in Sorti.

Felipa is going to lock the booze in her room, so Raquel can't find it. I think it's a little late to think about booze affecting the baby. I believe that happens in the early stages of pregnancy.
Rufino wanted to know the name of Pedro's SIL. Does he think it's Alex that betrayed the deal? Alex paid him off (in person) to get Pedro out of trouble with him for burning the hot merchandise. But he dealt with Erik to implicate Pedro.
I bet Maura will get a days work out of Katia.
I didn't think Ulises was that bad that he would kidnap the baby to get MJ to go along with the plan. Maura took a picture of MJ & Tonito, I guess to use in the scheme.

Like already posted here, it was not her idea to go there, so she isn't really interested in sobering up. I think anyone can leave those places when they want to. Some people finish their treatment and stop at the liquor store on the way home. They just haven't hurt badly enough. The disease of alcoholism is bigger than most people realize; it is powerful, cunning and baffling. Some unfortunate people never are able to get sober, and $$$$$$ gets wasted on treatment facilities.

I think Bruno and Raquel are at least 4 years older than Alex because it was said that Mr. Albeniz died when the twins were sick and Victoria went back to Mexico to hook back up with Tony #1 and Alex was 2 years old at that point.
Maria Jose can't be any older than 3 years older than Paula since Maria Jose and Sandra were 3 and Paula was just a baby when Elena left.
I'd put Alex in the 26-30 range, and Bruno & Raquel in the 30-34 range. Maria Jose and Sandra are probably around 24, 25 and Paula 20-21.
Elena and Useless were talking about Sandra a few days ago and Elena told Useless that Hubby #2 had fallen in love with Sandra and she went downhill after he died.
Sandra is messed up because Stepdad #1 is the only person who ever loved her. Because Elena sure doesn't and Sandra knows it.

Pasion is going to be on?!!!! I have the DVDs but haven't had a chance to really watch them yet. Woo hoo. I haven't even finished watching all of Destilando yet. I've recorded it but not watched it.
At breakfast with several people around, Alex said the only way to deal with Bruno is to kill him. Not having snuffed anyone, but I would think rule #1 is not to tell anyone your thoughts on that subject.
Anon 4:28- I agree with everything you said about the ages, and about what has brought Sandra to this point. It's clear Elena never showed her any real love, and with Stepdad 1 dead(who she thought was her real dad) and with the appearance of evil stapdad 2, it seems like she had things rough. But her grandpa loves her (even if he's grouchy), so you wonder why he couldn't help her. Or maybe they sent her off when she started to have problems and gramps never knew about them.

On Elena-Sandra...remember, folks, Elena never intended to keep Sandra. She was going to leave all three of the girls with DonP. When she got sick, Elena and her paramour had to change their plans and he had to come to the house to take them away. That's when he fell for Sandra and insisted they take her (according to Elena's story to Useless). As to Elena, an acquaintance of mine, a dedicated Sortilegio watcher, made this remark about her wardrobe: "they must only sell size small blouses in Tolucca," left us all laughing till our ribs hurt.
