Sortilegio, Tuesday, January 12--Ep #65: Raquel is wasting away again in Vodkaville.
Team Evil discuss Maura's hesitations. She thinks there's too much risk of something going wrong. But then again, she's just going to give them a date and a time, she won't be getting her hands dirty. Jorge repeats that MJ will live a life of luxury and Maura will have Alex. And what about Ulises? Jorge says they bought him off and he went to Argentina. Maura is surprised. Jorge claims he never lies. He asks Maura to tell him more about the Lombardo family.
Roberto and Paula check out the new baby in her incubator. Paula comments that she's tiny and alone. Roberto says she's missing the alcohol that mommy used to give her. Paula wants to rip Raquel's eyes out. Get in line, sister. They go have lunch.
Alex, MaryJo, Fernando, and Vicky talk shop. Alex wants Fernando to be Veep. He suggests giving it to Bruno, but MJ won't hear of it. She doesn't think he deserves it and Vicky has to agree. Fernando tries to talk them into it as a reconciliation gesture. MJ doesn't think there will ever be a reconciliation.
Upstairs, she keeps evading Alex's questions about whether Bruno has said something to her. She sidesteps by asking why he asked Maura to find them a house. Alex laughs and says he asked Mari to do it, but Maura overheard. MJ has a fit when Alex insists he's talked to her and she understands she can't have him. Yeah, if he believes that, I've got a bridge I'd like to sell him. MJ insists that Maura did it to be closer to Alex. Alex says Maura's wasting her time because he loves MJ. She's his life and his love. But she's sick of Maura being around. He wheedles a smile and a kiss out of her and, of course, it works. Behold the power of William Levy.
Vicky and Fernando are still arguing about the Veepship. He doesn't want people saying that Vicky gave it to him. He can't handle their secret love anymore. He wants to go shout to the four winds that he luuuuuuurves her. She accuses him of "desvariando" (being delirious). She wants to break up with him because people won't accept her being with a younger man and yes, she does actually care what other people think. Your loss, lady. She also has too much stuff going on and she just wants some peace, already. Fernando asks her if he's a problem for her and she says he is. It was a lovely moment, a dream, and all dreams have to end. But Fernando doesn't want it to end. Vicky cries (and probably lies) and says she does. Tears all around.
Elena reports back to Jorge after taking Maura to the airport. She says they didn't talk about it on the way--she didn't want to "agobiarla" (overwhelm her). He agrees. Finally, for once he's not calling her an idiot and berating her.
They continue discussing it at dinner. Jorge thinks Maura is the one who's an idiot for refusing their deal. He doesn't think Maura has the "agallas" (guts) to do this. Elena thinks it's all about Maura being young. But she also doesn't think that Maura is going to go blabbing to anyone. Elena wonders if they should tell Porfirio the truth, but Jorge says no. He goes off to try to revive Sandra again.
Maura and Bruno walk into Maura's place. Bruno rudely dismisses the maid after she tells them that Lisette is out with Katia. Bruno starts questioning her about MJ's mom and secret twin. He grabs her by the throat, so she gives up the info that MaryJo's mom and mom's husband want to kidnap MaryJo so that she can pass as her twin. Bruno lets go of her throat.
Fernando mopes at home.
Vicky gets all negative and pessimistic and Felipa tries, very gently, to make her see that she's being an idiot. Vicky claims that all men want to get married and have kids and she doesn't want to rob him of that. Riiiiight. Felipa doesn't think he's going to just get over her just like that. Vicky says she'll never forget him.
Bruno tells Maura she should be happy. She can get MJ out of the way and have Alex all to herself. He's going to get in contact with Elena and Jorge and offer to help them out. He thinks it's strange, though, that Ulises would have taken off to Argentina when there's such a big wad of cash involved. Yeah, that does look a little fishy. Bruno sarcastically points to his neck and says he hopes she feels better, then he leaves.
Raquel is shouting out the window that she's not a child and they can't torture her like that. She goes running out of the house with the nurse following her. She runs into Bruno and starts begging him for help as he walks out with his rolling suitcase. She's begs him for a drink. He says she's nuts and he doesn't want to put up with a drunk. She reminds him that she voted for him, but he keeps walking away.
The family, the sane and non-evil members of the family anyway, are sitting down to breakfast. Mr. 5ft comments that they're eating pancakes, but I have to break it to him that in Spanish they're called "hotcakes". He may never get over the disillusionment. MaryJo and Vicky are chatting about having the wedding reception in the garden when Raquel walks in. I have to pause it for a minute, because Raquel has been drinking so much and for so long that even though she's been sober for, what, a day and a half, it is still possible to get drunk off her fumes when she's on screen. So I try not to inhale too much at once. Anyway, she's complaining about being an adult and they can't treat her like this, blah, blah, blah. Not making the best case for herself. She circles the table, screaming at them all. She's going to divorce Roberto and she doesn’t care what happens to the kid. You all suck, quit looking at me like I'm crazy, who do you think you are, mom's a slut, MJ and Paula are trailer trash, Ulises has left me and you all hate me, I never asked for your help, blah, blah, blah. Alex tells her if she wants to, she can get the hell out of the house, minus the car and the credit cards. She tries to assert her right to her monthly allowance, like Daddy stipulated in his will. Oh, you mean the will you and that jackass Bruno wanted invalidated? Yeah, Princess, that means no allowance for you. Her brilliant plan is to live off the dividend checks from the company stock, sell off her jewelry to buy alcohol, and prostitute herself in the meantime. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out (but perhaps I'm being too optimistic too soon). MJ whines that Alex was too hard on her. Roberto also wants Alex to reconsider, but Alex thinks maybe if they let her go, Raquel will save herself.
Alex goes outside to tell Arturo that he's to drop Raquel off anywhere she wants, but not leave her the car and then watch her, discreetly, during the day. Augustin will watch her at night--those are their new assignments. Quit, dudes. I'm telling you, unless he adds a zero to the end of your paycheck, it's just not worth it.
Vicky goes upstairs and cries. Same old song. Raquel needs compassion, Alex went too far, blah, blah. Felipa tries to be the voice of reason, but Vicky never listens. Alex comes in to check on Vicky. He tells her that he's having the guys watch her. And also, he's going to have Hernán recommend a psychologist because they're all having a rough time. He doesn't think Raquel can get into much trouble without a car. Felipa figures she'll just get herself good and drunk and then sleep it off somewhere.
Raquel has Arturo go into a liquor store and buy her a case of vodka. Dumbass. She then goes to Uli's place, which is technically hers since she paid for it for a year. Arturo sets the box on the bar and then leaves. He explains that he's not supposed to leave her the keys, but she throws magazines at him. I'm not clear on whether he actually did leave her the keys or not.
Elena is rubbing down a horse when Bruno shows up. That's not a euphemism. She assumes that Katia sent him, being his girlfriend and all. Bruno says she was never his girlfriend. He's here to talk about MaryJo.
MaryJo whines to Alex about letting Raquel leave. QTH do you think he should have done? He doesn't get an answer to that question either. Arturo calls to report in and I'm guessing since Alex said "thanks" that he didn't leave Raquel with the car keys. Alex tells MJ that Raquel is holed up at Ulises' place, but they stopped off for a box of vodka first.
Elena introduces Bruno to Jorge and tells him that Bruno is here about MaryJo. Jorge gripes that Maura spilled her guts to him and Bruno grins and says she did need a little persuading. Jackass. Jorge doesn't think Bruno can be trusted, but Bruno breaks into his country western number about how Alex took away the love of his ma and his pa and his best girl and he stole his truck (well, ok, the presidency of the company) and danged if he don't want that no-good varmint dead. Jorge probably thinks it sounds like Bruno will be a good ally, but his face doesn't look like it.
Hernán comes over and explains to the family that the only way to have Raquel locked up against her will is in a psychiatric institution. Vicky, of course, objects. Hernán agrees with Alex's decision, painful though it is. He hopes that Raquel will hit rock bottom and then decide to quit. Roberto is concerned that she's at Ulises' place all alone and he can't get hold of her on the phone. Vicky is upset still that Alex let her leave, but Alex says she could have gone at any time and at least this way they know where she is and she's being watched. Hernán says she won't get clean until she wants to and Alex is right. Alex proposes to Paula that she propose to Meche that she offer Raquel her services as a maid.
Over tequilas, Bruno assures Mr. and Mrs. Evil that Maura's not going to open her mouth, she has too much to lose and too much to gain. He is worried about Ulises, though, but Jorge says not to worry about it--and when he says not to worry, he says it because he knows he's right. Bruno also brings up the fact that Fernando's uncle lives near there and Fernando knows both MJ and Bruno. And this presents a problem, why? Oh, because Bruno isn't after money as the price of his help, he wants MJ, or should he say, Sandra.
Lucero really looks awesome in those Oil of Olay commercials. She's, like, glowing.
At the beach club, Fernando and Alex get caught up on gossip. Raquel is at Ulises' and Vicky broke up with Fernando. I feel like I'm shortchanging you on a lot of these conversations, but the problem is it's the same old arguments they've been having forever, so unless I hear some interesting vocabulary it all just sounds like blah, blah, blah to me. Trust me, you're not missing any new material. Fernando is pissed that Vicky is doing the thinking for him. Well, then maybe you should just never date. Ever. Fer can't handle her wishy-washyness. A couple of skanks come up to hang out with them. Alex grins as he confirms that he did get divorced, but denies that he's with Maura now. Fernando's snank du nuit tries to get him to dance, but he refuses. Alex grins again as he tells his skank that he's got to go home 'cause his woman's waiting for him…uh, didn't you get divorced…*grin*.
Ezequiel greets Alex. He doesn't go to sleep until everyone's home. Bruno isn't home, but EZ doesn't know where he went. Arturo reported in to say that Raquel hasn't left the apartment. Alex goes upstairs.
Tiny Tony sleeps. As does his nurse, at least until Alex comes in to say hi. Rosi (the nurse) draws the curtain around TT's crib.
Alex watches MJ sleep, turns out the lights, and starts undressing. Damn, those pants are tight.
Vicky thought bubbles more poetry and cries.
Alex snuggles up with MJ and wakes her up. He tells her that Vicky broke up with Fernando. They discuss Vicky and Fer's relationship and the nature of luuuuuurve. And then they talk about how they luuuuuuurve each other. Mr. 5ft has to pull out the old joke when he sees on the closed captioning that Alex loves MJ "tanto, tanto, tanto." People, that means "a lot" not "sidekick of the Lone Ranger."
Bruno and Maura show up outside the company. Bruno tells her "it's all arranged" and that he thinks the old guy killed Ulises. Inside, it's time for another board (bored) meeting. They're voting on a new veep. Alex proposes Fernando. Bruno gripes. Maura thinks it should be another family member, therefore Bruno. Vicky proposes Hernán. No one else has any suggestions. Maura and Raquel vote Bruno. Vicky, MJ, and Alex vote for Hernán. The shady board members vote for Hernán. Bruno is pissed. He tries to throw the one guy's notebook off the table, but the guy's got it too tightly under his arm. Bruno bitches at his mom and Hernán and leaves. Everyone else starts congratulating Hernán.
At La Nueva Casa Borracha (aka, Raquel's), Meche is trying to get hired as a maid. Raquel doesn't really want to her about her qualifications or lack thereof. She just wants Meche to do her job and then go home. She asks how much Meche wants to be paid.
Meche tells Chucho and Gabriel that she got hired, but it's gonna suck working for Raquel. Chucho reminds her they owe Alex a lot. Gabriel chimes in and says it won't be for long, because an art dealer saw some of his carvings and wants to sell them at a hotel in downtown. Gabriel didn't ask how much he'd get paid and Chucho chews him out about it. Meche thinks Gabe will get to be important, but Chucho says people like them don't get to be important, that's why "primero engordamos la marrana y ya luego comemos chicharron" (first we fatten up the pig, then we eat fried pig skin).
Lisette is going out dancing with Katia. Maura tells her she looks pale even with all the makeup and asks if she's been to the doctor. Lisette spins around to show just how fine she is and says she doesn't need a doctor. So there. She leaves as the phone rings. Bruno tells Maura they've got to do the thing this week and she can't back out. Bruno advises her to behave naturally and she won't get caught. He reminds her she can have free access to Alex after this. She asks him "When?"
Katia and Lisette run into Fernando at the club, talking to the skank. Katia praises her on her youth. They continue picking on Fernando's taste in women, so he takes off.
Felipa brings Vicky a tea as Fernando calls Vicky's cell. She ignores it.
Raquel moans on the couch as Meche tries to get her to eat something. She throws a tantrum and says she just wants to be alone.
Meche reports back to Chucho and Paula about how Raquel just drinks all day long. Gabriel tries to make an excuse for her drinking ("maybe she just got depressed and that's how she started, maybe she caught her husband with someone else") but Paula won't hear it. Roberto's just the greatest guy and Raquel didn't know how to appreciate him. They get into an argument and Paula tells him to shut it. Gabriel's grinning like he likes it when Paula yells at him. Or maybe what he likes is that she's paying attention to him for a change. Chucho tells them to cut it out and asks Paula for the latest news from jail.
Alex gets a call from his lawyer, who says Pedro can get out today. Alex tells the lawyer to go ahead and pay. He's also sending the helicopter to bring them back faster and he wants the lawyer to buy Pedro some clothes.
And that's all for today. Tomorrow: Bruno tells Maura that the kidnapping will happen in 2 days; Alex surprises everyone with Pedro at dinner; the old dude is informed that Sandra's coming home in 2 days; MaryJo stupidly gets into a car with Maura. Also stupid on Maura's part since Felipa knows they left together. Whoo! It's Ultimas Semanas!

PS. Also, thanks for posting so early tonight!!
Thank you for a wonderful recap. I hope you are able to show off your writing skills in the world of everyday life. C'mon, tell the truth, are you really Isabel Allende?
Not a spoiler but... I am not optimistic about Raquel. At the rate she is going I cannot see any way for her to get clean and sober by the end of the TN. Since Bruno now has the Jorge-anvil floating above his head, Vicky may just find herself childless at the end of Sorti.
Also, a plea to the writers—give la niña a name! Just because she is going through withdrawal doesn't deserve a little personality.
I have given up on Maura. May she end up as one of Jorge's dreadful experiments/
Elna June i suggested that myself yesterday with Maura and throw in a small helping of Katia too.
I don't know what the social protocol is for the uppercrust in Mexico, but when someone rudely barges into your house and tries to choke the crap out of you.
Shouldn't you call the cops and then the following day you exchange a insincere kiss with this person?
I like the idea of RaqHell being lock up in the loony bin. Here's another suggestion how about locked up in a women prison for attempted murder if she refuse.
There she can meet several women who's social graces are about the same as hers. Maybe then she will learn to appreciate how MJ and Paula are.
MJ after complaining to Alex about Maura looking for a house for both you. She's using it as a excuse just to be around Alex.
Why oh why would you ever get into a car with this heifer.
Pobrecito Fernando. Really, he needs to find someone who'll prioritze her relation with him.
Damn, Alex is too charming. He can really charm his way out of anything. Love that guy.
Roberto is doing a fantastic job of reforming. Not only has he decided to take care of a child that's not his, but he is worrying about Raquel. Love that guy too (though of course not to the extent that I love Alex).
Bruno was kinda smart guessing that Jorge killed Useless. Now he knows the man is psycho and he will probably beware of having the same done to him.
Anon, I'm with you! Que the heck is wrong with Maura! She actually kissed him after that? What a retard.
Have to agree with you that there was way too much "oh poor me" going on last night. Title of the episode should have been "The Pity Party". We have a lot of bruised, over-sized egos in this TN.
At the top of the list - Raquel. What can I say except this actress is just blowing the lid of this role. You actually feel like she's going through the withdrawal and alcoholic shakes and reactions. We may hate her character but chops to acting out this part. It has to be draining. That said, I think Alex is right that they can't keep making excuses for her. She has to see the problem in herself, and she is a LONG way from that, or at least a week or so of episodes away :).
As for Vic and Fer - sometimes Vic can just be so unnerving. I can see where her offsprings get the me,me,me attitude. she worries what people will think, she needs peace. well don't we all, but there's something called life and most of us manage to live it and deal with it, and hey we don't have someone stirring our tea or laying out our clothes for us. Yep, methinks Vic is just as spoiled as her kiddies, but she just never went evil with it.
So poor Fer hits the singles scene and even there he can't get rid of that sorry excuse for a sister. Why doesn't he just ship her back to uncle already.
And Maura is so desperate to get her man and her way she has stooped to kidnapping? another ego that is out of control. She and Bruno deserve each other (since he admits Katia was never her girlfriend - viewerville got that one a long time ago.) At least she's easier to look at than useless. I don't get the "Yuks" in her scenes as I did with him.
And elna june, so agree. That little one deserves a name. Those two bambinos are both so precious. I vote to add designated screen time every episode for e achright along with the token WL shirtless scene. A happy camper I would be.
What did poor Meche do to deserve to be condemned to RaqHELL each and every day? I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy! Yikes!
Alex, Alex, Alex. Your wife asks you to explain why you have asked your ex to find you guys a house, and your answer is because she has good taste (implying in your wife's mind that you think she doesn't)! Then you downplay and hide the attempts said ex has made to get you back? It's a good thing MJ finds you so darn cute and irresistable.
With all he knows about Maura, and will all MJ doesn't know, and the fact that Alex has given Maura his stamp of approval to MJ, I don't blame MJ for heading out with Maura as the pre-views show. It's Alex's fault.
So in Monday's episode the usually serene baby Tony started crying his eyes out when Bruno approached, and last night Elena's horses started getting all skittish with Bruno near. Hmmm...Maybe the horse was responding to being in the presence of so much evil- Bruno, Jorge and Elena. Poor Maura has just thrown herself headlong into a pit of snakes, and she is no match for them. She went from being the queen bee in her own little group of Useless, Lisette and Bobo, to now being a pawn in the game of these three vipers. She better watch her back.
-Vivi in DC
On the Evil-Meter I think Dr. Demento is around a 9-1/2 and Bruno is 7. Bruno gets points taken off for not committing most of the crimes himself (except for the Judge of course.) So he better watch out.
Who dresses Elena? I don't even know what to say about her outfits.
Maura on the other hand is a snappy dresser. But...if someone had tried to choke me out one day and then was all nicey-nicey to me the next--Well, that just wouldn't happen.
As for MJ and Maura, I'm with MJ. Let me pick my own damn house. Women have a 6th sense when it comes to other women. We have the ability to know when someone is putting the moves on our guy or not. With Maura is't not that hard because she practically comes right out and says it.
NEED RECAPPER FOR THURSDAY! My friend finally has time to fix my laptop but he didn't call me until 10:30 last night. He's coming to get it today and will have it until next week. Can somebody recap for Thursday? Sorry for the short notice.
With Jorge on the scene, we now have someone who can (and probably will) kill Bruno. 'Cause you know Bruno will get cocky and do something to tick Jorge off and unfortunately, Jorge is not someone you want angry at you (the actor who plays Jorge is such a nice man on Gancho).
Do we think poor Sandra will ever recover?
Though I do enjoy Alex, ITA with Vivi and others that he's kept MJ in the dark about critical information. And, based on the previews, this will bite him in the behind.
I mourn the untimely passing of Useless. He was an ick-inducing scuzz, but he was certainly interesting. Of course I would always have the urge to wash my hands after one of his scenes. RIP
Carlos
It's one of the reasons why she never told them the truth about their true parentage until now.
Vivi i am reminded of the movie Yong Frankenstein with your description of Bruno and baby Tony and Elena's horse reactions to him being near.Everytime the Cloris Leachman's character name was announced the horses would have the same reaction.Funny movie.
Who dresses Elena probably the same color blind person who did the interior decorating for inside casa Lombardo. Maura's Barbie playhouse living room set.
Cielo de Levy can you even imagine any of our reactions would be the same as Maura's after being choked like that. It's official she's not working with a full deck of cards.
I guess this is what happens when you've been loved and dumped by Alex Lombardo.
I feel a little sorry for Maura. She's getting caught up in this scheme, and she hasn't been honest at all, but she's not evil like Bruno or Jorge. Even Ulises was much worse than she, as was Raquel. And her whole problem is that she just fixated on Alex. Maura's rich, beautiful and young, she should let him go, and there are probably lots of other great guys out there for her. But her obsession is her downfall.
As for Raquel, if this were a period drama, maybe she could be redeemed by being a nun (that would actually be pretty funny). But since it's not a period novel, there doesn't seem to be any positive ending for her. Strangely, I feel a teeny bit sorry for her, too. Her husband never paid attention to her, the guy she liked (Alex) turned out to be her half-brother, and her lover got her pregnant and then left. I can see why she drinks.
We haven't seen much of Erik lately, but I still think he's going to come back to possibly join the good guys.
Hombre, I'd like to see Erick come around to the good side too. OK, he has a shady past, but I think he was forced in way over his head by Bruno. He didn't kill Meche and Gabe, and showed a tender side with Paula early on.
I also noticed the horses' reaction to Bruno. They know evil.
As a matter of fact Cuco doesn't like either twin so that says a lot right there in it self.
Vicki still doesn't get it does she about why her twins are like they are. Locking up RaqHell as Hernan suggested would be the best remedy for her at this moment.
On Maura: Vivi: “a pawn in the game of these three vipers”.
Anon 12:42: “I guess this is what happens when you've been loved and dumped by Alex Lombardo.” Hombre: “her obsession is her downfall.” I too felt some compassion(?) for Maura. She is way out of her league, what a shame. She is moving to a VERY DARK place, nothing like the Mario Aguirre prank. Ana Brenda is doing a great job on showing her hesitation and reluctance in this turn of events.
On the Vicky/Fer breakup: Anon and Daisynjay , the breakup was a big pity party but, I felt Vicky was unselfish and reasonable to have second thoughts about possibly denying Fernando children of his own. If I had ever found myself in her situation, I would be very pained to think that I was denying a family to a great guy. I, like Vicky, would worry that the guy MIGHT wake up with regrets some day!! Hopefully, I wouldn’t have let the situation go so far though.
I don’t see any ending for Raquel other than death from alcohol poisoning...Sorti doesn’t have a Father Bosco who can ride in and save the day, Dr Hernan has tried with no success. I am very interested in how they close the book on Raquel. Gosh, viewerville is just sitting around waiting to see who dies of what....¡que lastima!
The interaction between Bruno & Dr Mengele, evil & eviler, is going to be great.
I've come to the conclusion that Gabriel Soto needs acting lessons.
If he wasn't such a hunk, I don't think he would have a chance.
Raquel is sure to get the DT's soon & she can be committed, probably in a straight jacket, soon.
In the avances, Alex also watches MJ ride off with Maura, with a worried look on his face. Maybe she said they were going house hunting.
That's what's missing it's possible if a priest or padre was involved Vicki may not have kept the secret of the twins real father a secret this long.
I wonder why Carla didn't do that for this novela, and is this a first. Most novelas that i have seen always have someone who is with the church in it.
I forgot to add the actor who plays Arturo to my list Sandy. I have to say i like the way he plays the bumbling trying to please his boss with everything he request. I have to put the actor on my list of those who are doing a good job with their role.
Yes, Arturo (?) has done a very good job, he should be on our lists.
-Vivi in DC
If they had a priest though, then he could perform a much needed exorcism on Bruno and RaqHELL.
-Vivi in DC (splitting e-mail time today between Caray- fun, and Haiti earthquake relief efforts- very depressing)
Vivi i must admit i had some impure thought with that scene also but what's a woman to do when we are tempted like this.
Anon 2:43 LOL not even the priests from the Exorcist could save these two demon spawns from hell.
I would definitely throw some Holy water on Vicki just to makes sure she not some type of vessel card carry demon herself.
Vivi: The situation in Haiti is HORRIBLE, I'm watching as well. They have no equipment, no hospitals, no communication systems, no nothing.
-Vivi in DC
Anyways, is there a reason religion isn't a key factor in this show? The only instance I can think of is when MJ went to the church way back in episode 21 or 22 to ask for peace. She also confessed feelings for Alex then.
And let me just repeat what you all said. Alex's pants were tight. Lol.
Beth, hotcakes is the Spanish for pancakes. Obviously a borrowed word from English, that is what you see on menus in Mexico.
Skank du nuit was priceless.
I thought Gabriel said he was going to make money on his telas, which are woven fabrics, some of which are actually in art galleries. This seemed to me to tie into our having seen him at a loom in their little mercado.
Especially Alex, but it doesn't seem anyone in a TN ever gets into bed with their spouse or significant other and lets them continue to sleep. MJ is a new mother, but does she get to sleep? No, he wakes her up every time.
I love it when Alex gets all angry and authoritative - makes me feel like Racquel feels about him and acquiescent ...man oh man!!
Racq and Bruno were just born psycho.
Ultimate semanas? I thought there was around 95 episodes. That would be about 6 weeks. No?
I was relieved Maura refused Mengele and Elaina's offer and still got out alive! And Elaina's argument that MJ would become a millionaire?! She's already a millionaire! Maura's no dummy.
But although Maura is a disgusting boring bigot I respected her courage to stand up against Bruno in the past. She WAS also smart. But she seems now to be falling apart! What's your plan for Alex's baby Maura?!
-Vivi in DC
Sandy:
I believe our Blogmom asks this very same question on her Squidoo lens for Wm Levy.
I, for one, am not amused by Alex's attitude and behavior with Maura. He has had dozens of opportunities to tell MJ about the Mario Aguirre business. I have a question for Alex. Brother, what are you getting out of Maura's obsession with you? The Mario thing turned quite ugly and put MJ in harm's way. What will it take before you really end all contact with Maura? (Snort). Oh, yes, go ahead in the face of all reason and trust Maura's motives in finding a house for you. Uh huh.
Right now Alex is charming, handsome, hot and rich but he needs to sit down with a priest or therapist (some sort of a truth-sayer) and take a long look at his motives. A little self observation would be in order, here, Sr Lombardo. You are responsible for putting your family at risk.
IMHO, Vickie has never been smart about loving and this is her first unselfish love act - setting Fernando free. Now, Shut. Up. Felipa.
-Vivi in DC
Mrs.imgallego: I love it when Alex gets all angry and authoritative - makes me feel like Racquel feels about him and acquiescent ...man oh man!!
Hahahaha lol I am ROTFL!
And the avances apparently show MJ getting into Maura's car. I didn't see that in the avances. Which brings up another topic. Some people see different avances than I do. I don't think she agreed because Bruno choked her. She simply told what had already been agreed upon with Jorge and Elena.
OK. I won't take up any more of our fun space here with such a depressing topic. If anyone is interested in learning more about orgs providing aid, feel free to e-mail me directly: vbrown@collegesummit.org
-Vivi in DC
What i don't agree with him keeping the Mario Aguirre plot from MJ.
Cielo de Levy i don't remember the actor who plays Chucho at all in CCEA.
Nio amount of blessings or burning candles to the Virgencita could help some of these folks on Sorti.
I wonder if they gave Pedro some Holy water to drink if it would cure him of lying.
-Vivi in DC
Vivi, thanks for that website. Bless you for your concern, and I wish the best for those in Haiti.
Alex...sigh...yeah I guess he's flirty. Darn, one thing wrong with him. Well, it doesn't take too much away. Lol i mean I'd be willing to live with that.
If Alex flirted with me like that i can see why Maura still thinks she has a chance. Our hot boy is sending out too many mixed signals.
Vivi when did the earthquake happen this is definitely a worthwhile cause i would be extremely happy to help out with.
I am fully able to multitask and go back and forth between you guys here, work and all things Haiti related. Thanks for letting me take up some space to advocate for Haiti. Back to the show!

I am so upset about the latest disaster in Haiti. Poverty, 4 hurricanes & now this. If there is a God, why does He hate poor Haiti? Nothing we can do about natural disasters, except give aid, but WHY in this hemisphere, US, Canada, Mexico, SA of wealthy countries is this allowed to happen? Aid has only gone to line the pockets of the corrupt. What they need is to learn to take care of themselves, with our help. They are cutting down all the trees for charcoal for fuel. It could be an island paradise. Maybe THIS disaster will wake everyone up.

I guess I was too tired last night to notice Ale's tight pants. Ack.
I think Raqi is going to die of alcohol poisoning, too. Telerisa has been doing a good job with interpreting alcoholics in their telenovelas (ADCLG included) but they are totally missing the boat by the telenovela families not being referred to AlAnon. Sheesh....
So far every telenvoela I have seen has its "voice of reason" character, which is usually the local priest. This one has NOBODY. They're ALL nuts. Oh, wait, I take that back. Cuco is the only voice of reason.
Did y'all notice how the horse went bonkers when Bruno got near the corral? LOL
Lol that Cuco is pretty reasonable, isn't he? Barks at the villains and saves MJ's life. My hero. :-)
Thank you so much for another one of your much-anticipated recaps. You never disappoint.
I am , however, still a little confused. I don't understand how kidnapping MJ and forcing her to stand in as Sandra is going to lead to Maura and Alex getting back together. Are they planning to kill MJ? I must have missed something along the way. If anyone could explain the basic kidnapping plot I would really be grateful.
Muchas Gracias
Jenna
Jorge has his own plans that we have not been made privy to as to how they will make the MJ/Sandra swich work. It seems to involve using his brain experiments. Jorge and Elena could care less what happens in the Lombardo casa once they've snatched MJ, and don't seem to think any clues will lead back to them. It's Maura's problem and her job to get Alex back once they've taken MJ.

As far as the kidnapping, the plan is to replace MJ for Sandra by erasing her memory and making her believe she is Sandra. Since Sandra OD'd she'll remain in a coma or the crazy doc will kill her. Regardless, the doc didn't think given Sandra's personality, she'd impress her fake grandpa enough for him to fork over the inheritance. Thus they hope they can convince Mj she's sandra and the grandpa will like her enough to give up the pesos.
Hope this helps
Bruno's strong arming tactics and waving the Alex can be all yours once MJ is out of the picture has made her be a accomplice to a kidnapping plot.
She is definitely gone over the line and flirting or not you don't resort to kidnapping and thinking that will get the man you desire to come back to you.
While Alex told her at her party that night she kissed him he remembered the good times he had with her. That's exactly what there were good times of hanging out and having sex but not love.
He even told her that when he came back from his accident that Bruno caused, what does intimacy have to do with marriage.
That comment alone should have woken up Maura to what she meant and was for Alex. While at first it was her pride that was hurt that he chose MJ over her.
It has now gone into full blown stalker dangerous crazy chick obsession.
Thank you for the explanations. So I guess Maura is just going to deliver MJ to the evil doctor and whatever happens to her after that is none of her concern, as long as MJ is out of the picture. I didn't realize that Maura had slipped that far into the dark side. Que lastima! I had hoped she would be redeemed in the end. No chance for that now.
Thanks again, Jenna
