Sortilegio 2/19 El Gran Final--Continued

For those of you who didn't get a chance to post yesterday, we are continuing the discussion again today.

Comments:
I had to babysit last night and got home later than I expected. We can continue discussions here today. Happy Friday!

Can someone tag this for me? Thanks. I want a pirate name too!

Connie~There used to be a weird website where you could generate a pirate name by answering a very weird survey. All for laughs. However, I can't remember the name of the site. Maybe Cap'n Sylvia remembers.

ouuu...thanks connie for the chance to continue to unload on sortilegio.
Elaina gave the usual jailhouse contrition speec 'I'm sorry for what I did and have learned my lesson'. but when I examine what she said it was passing the blame. Sandra was sent away because she did not get along with Jorge. sandra's fault and Jorge's fault...too bad so sad. She neglected to mention she wanted Sandra back so the money would keep flowing to me. And was MJ suppose to read into that apology a sorry I took you away from your infant child. AND Elaina STILL referred to Paula as "your sister" when she told MJ that Paula is right about something. I saw Paula's face as fighting back the tears that this woman still does not acknowledge me. How authentic would it have been if Paula had fallen on her knees at Elaina's feet offering forgiveness? Elaina wanted nothing from Paula who is not rich or powerful. Elaina still wants a relationship with the rich and powerful - who may get her out early.
Paula does not fall or leap into emothions like love and forgiveness. She didn't leap to 'I'm in love with Roberto' like Katia with Bruno. She forgave Gabe over time. It should be easy for her family to continue to parent her into adulthood.
MariJose said she will visit when she can and I trust that Alec will make sure to keep her buy, and Tiny Toni can not do overnights at Grandma's (kidnapping you know). That mother-in-law should have a house built in Spain when released.
Speaking of mothers-in-law, Victoria was psychologically healthy in Tu O Nadie. She didn't have this Vicki's baggage of guilt.

ElnaJune, did Aedepus know she was his mother before he killed her husband? It would seem his sin/crime was murder, not incest. The 'misuse of power backfired' is how it might be described in current day.
Bruno, I still feel, was incapable of love. He recognized others had love and gave love. He hated everyone for something he could not feel. Demanding love and fidelity from Victoria or Eric (who gave him both) still did not fill that void.

Something I hoped would be addressed by the characters was to come to see themselves. (Insight?) Useless tried to have Raquel see that she was doing exactly what she was condeming her mother for doing. Maura condemed MJ as a gold-digger while she herself was willing to do anything to combine two socially elete families. Katia saw other people as insignificant because they did't run with the rich and famous while she was not rich or famous either. Ferdandroff always cautioned -to death- Alec to doubt his own judgement but Fer never questioned why he adored and supported any illogical thought Victoria had. Eric knew he was the brains trying to restrain a crazy man but he was getting crazier himself hiring hitmen a second or third time for a patron that still hadn't paid him and had left him for dead on the LAST job!?

My Pirate name is Captain Anne Flint. Go to: http://www.piratequiz.com/

More thoughts/questions about the characters (not that the show would address any of this):

Jorge & Elena's house + horses: who has possession of the house and what happened to the horses?

Porfirio's house: what will MJ do with it?

Emiliano: what happened with him? He was so heartbroken over Porfirio's death. Pobre Emiliano.

Katia: who's watching over her while Fernando is chillin' on Victoria's beach?

Lisette/Lety: How is Lisette's recovery going? And Lety's transplant, how did that go?

Lisette/Hello Kitty house + money: I guess Lisette gets the house and the money while Maura's locked up, huh? I don't think Maura's getting out of jail for many years to come b/c she's guilty of being an acessory to murder (Mateo & Co.), embezzling, fraud, identity theft and kidnapping.

Victoria/Fernando: Fernando is a little old man trapped in a hunky young man's body, so this should work out well. Therapist Irene would have been bored silly with Fernando.

Paula/Gabe: will not end well because Gabe is too weak for her and just can't give her what she needs. You need to be firm with Paula, and I don't see Gabe being firm with her. She'll walk all over him. Paula is just like Elena. She may never commit crimes like Elena but Paula/Gabe will end up being like Elena/Pedro.

Pedro/Elena: did he ever divorce Elena?

Sandra's ashes: Now that everything's been revealed, will Sandra's ashes just stay up on Pedro's wall?

MJ/Sandra: I would have liked to have seen MJ feel some sadness towards never knowing Sandra and imagining how Sandra's life must have been like living with Jorge & Elena.

Useless's ashes: Did Useless not have any family? Why did Raquel have him cremated? Raquel wasn't his wife. And what did Raquel do with Useless's ashes?

Raquel's first love: Who was it?

Bruno/Raquel: was Raquel at Bruno's funeral? If she wasn't, perhaps they didn't want to impede her rehabilitation with bringing her to Bruno's funeral.

The Junta: should feel real stupid for trying to boot Alex out in favor of Bruno.

Maura's stock in Lombardo Inc: Does Lisette control that now? Is she now taking Maura's place in the Board Meetings?

Mari: I wish we could have seen Mari's face when they marched Maura out in cuffs.

Mari was probably doing a little happy dance! I sure would have been.

I'm sure Alex and MJ's first daughter will be named Sandra. Remember they discussed naming their first child Elena if a girl? Since she turned out to be a a horrible mother, sure they'll name the first daughter Sandra since Vicky is already taken!

Just saw this. MAybe we can merge this with the other Final thread. The discusions there picked up again.

Thanks Connie for letting us know you posted this. We were merrily continuing on in the comments from yesterday and Wed. I willrepost my long comment from there here.

My comments from earlier this morning on the other comment page--

A lot of people here have mentioned that the tn left a lot of loose ends. I’m not sure what they all are, because the only one I see is Eric (and his cousin) being allowed to get off scot-free and with the money. This means there was no punishment for his involvement with the attempted murder of Alex and the kidnapping of Meche and Gabe (I don’t care that he killed one of Mateo’s buddy). I really would have liked to have seen him hunted down and arrested in the finale.

As for the other stuff:
-The Judge/Fake Marriage: MJ and Alex are married for real, three times over now. As someone else mentioned, the disappearance of the judge is an issue for the Dominican police, not the Mexican police. Katia can easily reveal to everyone that Bruno went to the DR in search of the judge, and that although he told her he had nothing to do with the judge’s disappearance, she did not believe him and it’s easy to conclude he did it. Bruno is dead. Case closed.
- The Rape/Mario Aguirre: Mateo and buddies are dead. Maura is in jail and likely fessed up to all and to Bruno’s involvement. Bruno is dead. Case closed.
- The Murder of Useless: Elena likely gave up the info on that and told the police of Bruno murdering Useless. Elena is in jail. Jorge and Bruno are dead. Case closed.
- The Kidnapping of MJ: Elena and Maura confessed. Both are in jail. Jorge and Bruno are dead. Case closed.
- The fake car accident/framing Paula: Meche and Gabe confessed all about Bruno and Eric’s involvement and this was solved a long time ago.
-The attempted murder of Fernando: Mateo and buddies are now dead. See above about Maura’s confessions. Case closed.

What I would have like to have seen more of is the personal interaction between characters as they reached resolution and got on with their lives. For example, in that brief conversation between Paula and Gabe when she confesses that she actually does care about him, why couldn’t they expand that further by having her say: “Look Gabe. You’re a good man, and I care about you. But I’m afraid of us becoming like my mom and dad. I’ve realized some things about myself by looking at the woman my mother became. I have some of those same tendencies. I don’t want to end up like that, and I don’t want to hurt you. So, I’ve got to work on some things. I’ve learned that I’ve got to learn to give more importance to the little things in life, and less importance to material things.” Even if she still accepted him, I would have liked to have seen her make that connection in her mind between her and Elena’s nature and to consciously make a choice to be different.

In the conversation that Vicky had with Fer when he said you can’t think for me or make my decisions for me, I would have liked for her to follow up with a genuine aha moment and say, “You’re right. I’m sorry I have been doing that. You are a grown man, who can make your own decisions, and I have been depriving you of that right.” I wouldn’t have minded some scenes of the building of the new beach house; scenes of MJ, Alex and Tony enjoying peaceful time together as a family; MJ, Vicky and Fer working on the indigenous project and community center (now funded by MJ); Katia moving to Toluca to live with Emiliano, finishing her last year of high school and learning to love other animals like those beautiful horses on the ranches there as she applies to vet school; Roberto and Raq moving towards a romantic relationship again; and a real scene of the babies being baptized. Maybe it would have turned into a big, gooey, two hour mess, but it would have left me feeling more satisfied. And of course I would have left that hot love scene at the end just where it is- the cherry on top. :)

Ibarramedia: Here's a link for pictures of the museum you asked me but the people who took them didn't spent much time on the old photographs and paintings.

Jarocha

Thanks Jarocha! Those are cool pictures. I wish they had more about the uniforms and stuff, but the ammo and Flags, boats, knots etc. are a treasure trove indeed.

Bonnie:

Disclaimer: this is Aunt EJ's quick and dirty response to a very complicated story. It is not authoritative, nor scholarly, nor terribly well thought through. It is, as stated earlier, quick and dirty, and many could and most likely will disagree with my retelling of the story.

See Aeschylus and Sophocles for more details of the original tale.

In the myth, it is all very sad and fated. When King Laius and Queen Jocasta of Thebes cannot get pregnant they go to the Delphic Oracle who tells Laius that if he has a son, the son will end up killing him and marrying Jocasta. Jocasta gets pregnant and safely delivers Oedipus who then is stolen away by Laius and exposed on a mountainside so that the dire prophecy cannot be fulfilled. The infant Oedipus is discovered by by an infertile shepherd with no kids of his own, and of course, raised as the shepherd's own child.

Eventually, through a convoluted series of events, the prophecy comes true after Oedipus grows up. Oedipus kills Laius in an early case of road rage and marries Jocasta, with whom he then has four kids.

Suffice it to say that the whole thing ends rather badly for everyone, including a whole city of folks who are punished by avenging gods with, you guessed it, infertility.

In the ancient Greek worldview, the higher powers (Gods) were not interested in the health and welfare of human beings. In fact, they believed the opposite was true; the Gods were selfish and capricious folks with way more power than humans and that human/god interactions generally did not end well. In most of the ancient Greek stories that we have today, someone has either attracted or pissed off one of the Gods and woe to him and his family.

Freud, of course, first used the essence of the outline of the Greek story to refer to a man's struggle in childhood to establish a healthy self-identity apart from that of his father. In so doing a man need to "fight" with his father—"kill" or overcome. Mothers with an unhealthy attachment to their sons were seen as contributing to this problem. Freud referred to men who had not grown past this archetypal process as having an "Oedipus complex".

The story has been re-told in so many ways, and by so many different folks that it has become a sort of cultural shorthand, or meme, that can be used by someone to more easily convey a set if ideas.

Hope this helps.

I understand your point of view Elna June and I concurred yesterday. In the case of Oedipus, he literally became a Mother effer.

I also want to add that the female version of this is the Elektra Complex. The Electra complex is the psychoanalytic theory that a female's psychosexual development involves a sexual attachment to her father, and is analogous to a boy's attachment to his mother that forms the basis of the Oedipus complex.

Then you go into phallic symbols and penis envy and the like.

Vivi:

ITA on the emotional qualities and relationships missing from the Final. I think you are asking for an emotionally congruent wrap-up to the changes we see happen in the character's lives.

I would love to have seen the two conversations that you described SO WELL take place. If the characters you mentioned had reached a degree of self-awareness then I could suspend disbelief long enough to imagine that the pat-wrap-up-conclusions (Sandy calls them "Blue Bow endings"I believe) for Vicky, Fernando and Paula were sustainable.

Ibarramedia:

My goodness, you certainly have a way with words! Big grin.

LOL. Folks who want to learn more can find REAMS of material written by very smart people about complexes and archetypes.

My most recent post was an attempt to answer Bonnie Churros' earlier post on this thread.

Yes Elna June that does help some. So if the struggle is against the father to become a man and the mother is preventing the son from meeting that challenge...I see what you're saying. Victoria was not allowing Bruno to accept responsibility for all his wrong doing and protecting him from consequences? And in that way she was preventing him from becoming a man?
But hold on. Bruno was not seeking manhood.

Yes, the final was so hurried and not so 'gran.' They should've cut short the 'stranded on the island' episodes, and focused more on giving us a satisfying end.

Overall, the plot/story was not the best, but certainly the ACTORS brought such credibility to their roles; they solicited a zealous response from all of us.

I have never participated in anything fan-based in my life, except for with Luis Miguel, and now William Levy - he has so enthralled me. Hope his next novela will be his best yet.

I am currently liking El Clon, and probably check out Mi Pecado to ogle at Eugenio Siller.

It's been such a fun ride with all of you recappers/commentators!!

MIL GRACIAS!!

Does anyone know the name of the very large woman dressed in pink on the Premios last night? She has a wonderful voice.

But Bonnie, he was seeking to have the respect and responsibility that come with manhood, i.e. the Presidency of Lombardo construction. And his struggle with his father for power was never really resolved. Bruno was immaturely failing at University when Antonio was "accidentally" killed. WE will never know if Bruno was responsible for that mishap. I would guess that University training and then appropriate work experience were Antonio's requirement for Bruno to be able to eventually run the Lombardo business empire.

Antonio changed his will before he died to grant the more "adult" role of CEO to his younger son, which, arguably, was the straw (for Bruno) that broke the camel's back. In Bruno's mind, he had to do SOMETHING to redress such a terrible injustice. His perspective was twisted, sick and wrong but we can sort of imagine, IF he had these unresolved issues with his Dad, how he got there. At least that's the way I saw it.

IMHO,

EJ

I haven't had a chance to read comments today. I feel so behind! If we count yesterday's comments and today's what is our total? I think we set a new record.

Variopinta - OMG!! are you talking about the woman in pink sequins whom William Levy helped down the steps?? I don't know her name (will rewatch tonight and let you know tomorrow), but I was so focused on HRH (His Royal Hotness) WL.

Varipinta, the singer you're referring to is Paquita la del Barrio. Very famous, known for her songs where she berates men for their deceptions, egoism, etc...

Elna June, your telling of the Oedipus story was wonderful. So well written. I remember that he killed his father on the road, but I had forgotten the part about the prophecy that caused him to be exposed.

You certainly made me reflect on Vicki and Bruno's interactions. But I'm still a bit skeptical. It seemed to me that Vicki loved her son and her step-son in equal amounts. She seemed to me to mostly be an indulgent mother toward sons. Not enough was shown of her relationship with Raquel early on to know if she indulged her in the same way.

Perhaps if Alex had demonstrated the same kind of bad behavior she would have overlooked his failings in the same way.

I'm the mother of a son, but can't say I'm anything like Victoria. I mostly reared him alone, but I leaned the other way. I was pretty hard on him at times because I feared he'd turn out badly with only a mother's influence. He also managed to find father substitutes for himself: the manager of an apartment complex where we lived; a very nice Big Brother; and my father. I'm pretty pleased with the man he became.

I don't think anybody else knew that Antonio left total control of the company to Alejandro until after he died and the will was read. I may have to cross reference the first Episode. Bruno already did not like Alejandro but that Hatred grew by leaps and bounds when it was willed that Alejandro assume total control of the company and be head of the family as well.

Connie, As I type this we are at 227. Maybe someone can merge this with Yesterday's page. Can you email the powers that be?

I thought it would be all singers so I just kept switching until I gave up on the Premios. I would have watched all night if I thought WL was there...agh!!!

I'm hoping the gran finale will be repeated tonite so I can check out all that the commenters wrote about that I somehow missed.

Ann-NYC - I dvr'd the whole thing, waited til over, then woke up in the middle of the night just to FF to WL. Did not see him til almost the end. my dvr cut off exactly at 11pm, so I don't even know if he presented an award.

Does anyone know?

Wow! That's a lot of comments. I think part of Bruno's problem was that he felt "entitled" to become the president or whatever just because he was the oldest son. Who knows what he would have been like if he had been president. Can you just imagine? He would be awful to work for. Ugh!

mrslmgallego, William presented the first award of the evening(co-presemted with a young singer named natalia)and then he was also seen helping the singer Paquita down some stairs during her number. Jacky B presented the second award of the evening by herself.

novelera: we have very similar situation, my son's bio father not in picture, and I ruled with an iron fist/ tender heart. He had godfather, uncle, my brothers-in-law as male role models. I couldn't have asked for a better son.

CubsFan: dang!! I totally missed him in beginning. I accidentally erased the first dvr, then had to reset but started 1/2 hr later. I was so sure they'd have him towards the end - you know- save the best for last?

Mrslmgallego, you can catch WL presentation at theis youtube link:

Jenni Rivera, maybe?

Victoria certainly prevented Bruno from being the man he could have been by not telling him the truth, that Antonio was his father.

Antonio couldn't discipline Bruno as a father should be able to because the first thing out of Bruno's mouth would have been "You ain't my daddy!" and if Antonio had said "Yeah, actually I am" the secret would have been let out.

Actually Antonio was a pretty crappy parent to Alex. How could Antonio let Bruno beat down Alex and not put his foot down to Victoria about it? Or tell Victoria, hey look, when the twins turn (12, 15, 18 whatever) we must tell them the truth?

CubsFan: ay, muy lindo. too short a segment. gracias!

Tks for the link,
Paquita la del Barrio is Maravillosa
& even better now that I know what she sings about.
I watch these things & usually don't pay a lot of attention, but once in awhile sth makes me take notice. This time Paquita, last time Reik.

Oh dear,,,some of us continued to post on the other date/page and we seem to have run out of room...if Anon and Ibarra are here...here is my last comment!!

Sandy in TN said...
Ibarra, yes, Jorge was a really cold blooded villain and in reality, he was much more dangerous that Elena. I think a mother who did the things that Elena did to her children registers higher on the Villain-o-meter though!!! Glad you liked the article..from what I hear, Jen is single.......

Anon, thanks for the heads up on the el G and el F show. I tuned it on in time to catch both JB and WL. JB has a quality that is in short supply today ..a lady-like grace. Could you understand the guy who was introducing the dresses? I couldn't understand a word he said...

novelera:

I am not surprised that your son—and MrsIMGallego's—turned out to be wonderful men.

My idea stems almost as much from the Oedipus myth itself as from the improvisation done on the story by Televisa.

Remember in the original story, the "mistake" that Lauis makes that sets up the tragedy is to not be satisfied with what he has—a lovely young wife and a kingdom—but to also importune the Gods for more, for a son to inherit his kingdom. Hence the age old warning; "Be careful what you wish for".

Remember also that in the beginning of Sorti, Antonio and his wife are having problems, when he and Victoria fall in love. One of the problems in the first Lombardo marriage is that of infertility—Antonio and wife want a child and can't seem to conceive. Antonio is not happy with his fabulous construction empire, this is not good enough, he wants a child. So Antonio gets his wish, he gets not only one son, but two and a daughter to boot. But his sons are always in conflict and his daughter is neglected and damaged.

You know I respect your opinion, novelera, and I agree that the parallels between the stories are not perfect; in fact there are many places where the Sorti story deviates greatly from the original. My argument, such as it is, is that the Oedipal theme has been used in creating and underpinning the Sorti story, with some of the same fated or tragic elements.

Sorti works (or sometimes doesn't work) on many other levels, as a romance, as sibling love (MJ and Paula) v. sibling rivalry, as a tale of a May-September romance. As I mentioned yesterday, during the latter half of the novela, my frustration with the somewhat nonsensical elements of the obvious story caused me look for a meta-theme for Sortilegio and to speculate on what else Estrada might be saying to us. Others before me had eloquently described the telenovela as a Morality Play. I read it as also a tragedy that borrowed from certain elements of that genre.

Of course, I may very well be wrong!

Appreciating the opportunity to have a deeper discussion on telenovelas in general, and sending you, novelera, my very kindest wishes,

EJ

Sometimes It takes something really, really drastic things to happen for someone to see the light so to speak. It took Lissette a life threatening disease to re evaluate her attitude and approach to life. For Maura and Elena Imprisonment was the consequence. Not all ex-convicts turn up bad again. Some have really and trully turned their lives around and thus became rehabilitated and productive members of society. If there was no hope for them, might as well execute all of them.

We are just operating on specualtion as to how long those two will be behind bars. Barbara Grecco aka Rebecca Sanchez was imprisoned for a long time because she actually committed the crimes. (she probably lived 2 more years because people with that kind of burn injuries die within that time frame) Elena was sentenced to 12 years and we assume she can get out earlier for good behavior. We don't know how long Maura will be in because it was never stated. I assumed 6 years but I really do not know. I am not an expert on Mexican sentencing guidelines. But I think Maura's crimes were lesser than Elena's.

Once you get to your 20's and 30's 10 years goes by so fast it's not even funny.

I missed the last two or three weeks of this so I could catch up on a few things which were more pressing. I meant to watch the finale but forgot. From reading the comments I gather that Eric got off scot-free. Is there no justice? He should have gotten at least ten years in prison for his taste in clothes.

I tested for a pirate name and was awarded Bloody James Flint. Looks like Connie and I are sibs. I think that I'll go by the nickname Bloody Jimmy F or maybe just Bloody Jim for the duration of CS.

Connie, I just noticed the new picture. Excellent! Sis?

Carlos

Carlos: I gather that Eric got off scot-free. Is there no justice? He should have gotten at least ten years in prison for his taste in clothes.

LOL! I agree.

CubsFan, thanks for the links. :)

sandy, I'm with you. Elena is pretty darn evil. Apologizing only after she caused the death of poor Sandra, almost ruined MJ's life, and witnessed Jorge suffocate Porfirio...I think she deserved a worse fate. But she still gets occasional visits from the family. Not my idea of justice. She should be shunned. It would serve her right.

After everything that's been said and done, i find it interesting to read that this gran final put Univision into the #3 during Sorti's time slot. I've read that Amor Real (Sorti is my first TN so I can't add up to Amor) did so well during its run and not just during the gran final. So maybe Sorti didn't turn out so bad either...just saying...

Thanks for that piratequiz Connie. Lol what kinda questions! I answered muppets for everything :). My pirate name is Bloody Ethel Bonnie.

WL will appear as main guest on Don Francisco Presenta on Feb 24!!! We'll be getting a good dose of him next week (monday on Cristina).

....anticipating....

Most grand Finals have a big showing i think i read somewhere even FELS did well with it's Gran Final.

After seeing last night's episode of ENDA Samuel a character who cheated and defrauded women got 15 years for his crimes.

So i am going to assume that Elena and Maura did not get off so lightly with their crimes, too many loose ends left hanging should have and could have been two hours.

MrsImgallego thanks for the heads up on our HRH ROFL with that description but all so true.

I think Cielo de Levy will agree with that assessment too.

LOL, Anon and Mrs. imgallelgo that is funny--HRH!

Thanks, Connie, for another day and place to rant on re: sordid Sortilegio. Reading through 300+ comments is almost as lengthy as doing a recap! LOL! I'm sooooo behind I cannot keep up.

EJ: your Oedipal Lex was fabulous and really made me scratch my head for a bit. You're a gem. I have to get into your next Greco rundown here before I can comment further.

JudyB: Loved the story of the stones. Burdensome for sure and I do feel bent over at times like most of us must. I will remember this image you've drawn here for us.
================
Novelera: Since I was so disgusted with the final episodio I wouldn't take the time to review it. SO thanks for verifying what I only thought I'd barely heard over the surf regarding taking baby Tony as a hostage. The CC indeed was crap--per usual!

To the Anon. who hates Monday morning quarterbacking. You're right, but only to a point. You are also entitled to believe and to complain as you wish to here either with or without a screen name (though it's easy to be confused with other anonymi in case of the latter). Please do keep in mind that CarayCaray is chock full of MQ's and was essentially set up with MQ-ing in mind. Hope you'll eventually see it that way, grab a pirate pen name and jump on board with us for CS2009 which, from the looks of it will be ripe for some major MQ-ing!
=/ 8 ? }

Jardinera i was addressing the childish person who wanted to criticize because of my comparison to Tu O' Nadie all i said was then that makes movie critics and TV critics the same doesn't it no problem with that. I also said that the people who saw CS with Eduardo Paloma and Edith Gonzalez would probably be doing the same thing too.

No one has the right to come on here and demand from another person to stop discussing a topic that is annoying them, very simple solution to their annoyance skip certain posts period.

As for watching CS not happening i've already jumped onto Perro Amor on Telemundo at 9:00 i was watching it a little bit when Sorti was in commercial breaks.

Big fan of Carlos Ponce love his eyes and sexy raspy voice and his great body is easy on the eyes too. I don't know Jarocha is the expert on this but it looks like a original novela at that too.

Like i told Cielo de Levy i'll be around to read the recaps and comments. I'm sure there are plenty of people who do the same too have fun.

"WL will appear as main guest on Don Francisco Presenta on Feb 24!!"
In my guide, it does not say WL. Are you sure?
I cannot get ENOUGH OF HIM! :)

A comment about A-Bruno-Victoria beach scene:
I find that in very dramatic scenes where the good guy lets the bad guy aim a gun to his head, it's often because good guy knows that bad guy just CANNOT DO IT--for whatever reason. But Alex had to know that Bruno not only COULD do it but WOULD do it, as he actually did very shortly before this, when he shot many times through windshield of Alex' car. Sooooooo, if Alex truly cared about MJ and his Mom, why would he risk this? Makes little sense to me.
And...Vicky's thing seems beyond oedipal to me. Don't ask me what that means. It's just that there are NO WORDS nor stories nor references to describe it

Anon. 12:22PM --Ah! Nope. No problems with any comparisions and that's the point, but I did get confused and thought you were a different anon. Anyhow, now that that is cleared up, sorry I cannot watch Telemundo. Sounds great. I cannot even use the video software esmas uses for streaming various novelas in Mexico. Really a bummer.

I just don't think Elena & Maura got a couple of years in jail.

We know Elena got 12 years, but that was BEFORE Maura spilled her guts about the kidnapping. So I have to assume Elena got more time on top of the 12 years. Plus, she committed bigamy. Remember, the abogado told Alex there was little chance Elena was getting out of there. And that was, again, BEFORE Maura told about the kidnapping.

Maura was an accessory to the murder of Mateo and his posse, plus the embezzling, plus the kidnapping. IMO Maura will be middle aged before she gets out of prison. IMO that's part of why Maura knows there's no chance for her and Alex ever ---her youth and beauty will be spent in prison. Alex won't want her.

Carlos: Glad you're back for the CS boatride. I ended up with "Calico Charity Racham". I'm not the charitable kind, 'specially if I'm a pirate. Will have to think this one over a bit.

Carolina: just dvr/tape it anyway, cuz that's what it states on the 'williamlevyworld' fan site. I, and others here, can't get enough of him either.

Carolina, I explained on the Thursday recap that alejandro dared Bruno to shoot him out of Machismo. In the heat of the moment, from a guy's perspective. You all may be scratching you heads wondering why but I do understand where Alex was coming from. We were once cavemen thumping out chests.

Anon fair enough. We can only speculate on how long really the sentence was for Maura and Elena since it was never really specified. We can be left to our theories on that. When the attorney said that Elena had a slim chance of getting out, I took that literally as in not serving a day in prison.

One thing this blog does not have that regular messageboards do is the capability to use the search function effectively. On messageboards too, you can click on a person's name and read the last posts of that person if you wanted to look something up.

You can also make many new threads about a specific discussion, post pictures and video clips embedded instead of links. Some people have posted pictures here but you have to be registered. So I can understand the tediousness of researching 262 posts. But have to say though, that we covered Oedipus Rex a lot yesterday. I evn made a reference to the Electra Complex which is its opposite for the females.

Ibarramedia

Jardinera i found this site during CCEA and i have always used the Anon moniker i don't get certain people's prejudicial problems with other choice of using it. Melinama has given us all a choice or option what we want to use to call ourselves, therefore others need to respect that choice.

As for talking about other novelas or off the track topics i have no problem i have never and let me stressed never told anyone stop talking about Amor Real, Passion, Alborada and CS like i was once told to stop talking about CCEA.

Some people don't know the meaning of respect or for that matter how to simply skip over certain comments you don't care to read or annoy you.

I will continue to comment here whether i choose to keep using Anon or not once again my choice and option. I won't allow certain miserable people to spoil my fun on this site period.

Sorry that you can't get Telemundo they do have some good novelas on there that i enjoy a lot, you can try youtube and see if maybe you can find them on there. Sometimes i just put a novela in the google search engine and see if brings up a site i can watch from other than youtube.

Jarocha you said the other day that Mejia is now willing to wait for William movie to finish to start his latest version of Cunos de lobos does this mean that William will be doing more than the 13 episodes he was supposed to be doing.

Another question does Mejia still plan on showing it on the weekend is that both Saturday and Sunday or only one day.I look up Ana Claudia Talancon she has a wide and varied background in Movies and Tv shows but there is no word yet is there that she has sign on to work with this project.

I'm sure the movie El Crimen del Padre Amaro didn't go over so well when it showed in mexico.

PLEASE, could someone post (may have missed it) if there is some great telenovela soon to start on telemundo and If so- when?) Just discovered today I have this station! Only interested in ones that haven't started yet.
Also, I know there has been a lot of back and forth about a weekend novela with WL but please post exact info-name, when supposed to start? THANKS SO MUCH,

Carolina: your best bet might be to try the telemundo.com site. It will have things listed under telenovelas just like esmas.com site does. Or http://telenovela-world.com/ Telenovela world lists all the new and upcoming telenovelas by site name and has discussion boards as well. Doris and I frequent that site as well. It is also for English speakers, and has been kind enough to link to us for the recaps.

Thanks, jardinera! Now bookmarked! I see that there are 3 which started recently but none catch my attention. El Clon looks intriguing but seems just a little too evil for me. From what I gather MI PECADO is the only new one that should be out soon, but I see no dates online.

El Clon just started this past week on Telemundo. So on Monday it will be episode 6. Mi Pecadop follows En Nombre DE Amor on Univision.

Ibarramedia

Thanks.....and ENDA is ending when--or approx when?

Anon. I've heard that supposedly Mejía wanted William Levy for the role of Alejandro Camacho. So it was a big role. But yesterday I heard that Sergio Sendel was cast on the series. I can't picture Sendel in anything else but in Camacho's role to be truthful.

I think Mejía wanted the attention and that's why he mentioned Ana Claudia Talancón's name. She is one of the few famous movie actors we have. But yesterday the rumor changed and now they are saying the part will go to Irán Castillo. By the way El Crimen del Padre Amaro was a huge hit in México, then later when it was nominated for best foreign film by the Oscars they released the film again on theaters so people who didn't watch it the first time saw it then.

Jarocha

I never saw Cunos de Lobos but i read the synopsis so is perhaps William going to be cast as the other brother.

Any news on how he will show it because they said they would show it only on the weekends.

So i guess the Maite Perroni starring in it was just a rumor also too.

When El Crimen del Padre Amaro was shown in Mexico i read that the church was asking for people to boycott the film it must have been a good film. I'll put it on my list of films i want to rent, i hope i can get it with English subtitles if not i'll still watch it.

The Catholic church is always causing an uproar for anything, but at the time Padre Amaro was shown the party that had the power was the PRI so they were kept in their place as long as their positions didn't benefit their own agenda. The last ten years, with the PAN party having the bigger positions of power like the presidency, the Catholic church has regained alot of power (proof of that are the new anty-abortion laws from last year) but at the same time people are becoming more and more critical of the Church.

Jarocha

Carolina, ENDA is ending in approximately 2 weeks.

Ibarramedia

Jarocha, the Catholic Church is way too conservative on everything. When it comes to movies and TV stuff, I think they should leave well enough alone and let the writers, producers and director have the freedom of expression and creativity without criticizing it. It is not like it is something really blasphemous and anthema to the church. I can understand if it is something that a great majoprity of people will find offensive.

A very good example of this is Angels and Demons by Ron Howard. It is the sequel to the Da vinci code. And frankly, it is one of my current favorite flicks. Seen it 3times since I got the dvd. It probably should get the Oscar for best picture. Anyway, the Vatican gave Ron Howard a very hard time with the shooting, so they had to be creative with what the have and what they were allowed to do. I love it.

Oh and by the way, I'm Catholic and I'm assuming you are too.

Ibarramedia

Yes, I'm Catholic, but I do believe that the Church takes too many attributions that don't belong to them. I really hate how they act as if their laws should be more important than the ones made by the state. Right now the legislative assambly of the DF decided to give the right to marry to people of the same sex and the Catholic Church is doing all they can to stop the new laws. They are telling people not to get married in DF, leading campaigns against the new law and they are appearing on every media they can to speak about eternal damnation and more to those who passed the new law and at the same time equating giving rights to homosexuals to legalizing narcotrafic. They were the ones who asked the PAN legislators to create the new anty-abortion law that not only prohibits abortion but the use of the IUD and the next day pill. I feel like we are going back to the middle ages right now.

I've heard of the book Anels and Demons but I didn't remember they had made the movie. I'd have to look for it.I wasn't a big fan of The DaVinci Code, not because of the theme but I just didn't like it much. Ron Howard however is a good director and I have liked some of his films alot so maybe he did better with Angels and Demons.

OT--I posted on the squidoo pg already but just wanted to ask here as well. Have any of you (Anon, CubsFan, Mrs. Imgallego, Jarocha, anyone else who follows news and WL) heard of a production called Retazos de Vida? Film shot in Ecuador in 2008. William Levy is in it. I just saw a short trailer of it on youtube, but having trouble getting more info on it...

Cielo de Levy, I have heard of that movie but it only had a limited theatrical release in Ecuador. When William hit it big in CCEA, there were rumors it was going to be released in DVD in Mexico but it never happened. From what I've read, several WL fan groups still continue to petition its DVD release.

CubsFan

Awww darn. Looked interesting too. Thanks, CubsFan. :)

Jarocha, have a look at this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angels_&_Demons_(film)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASVeN-58HKk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcE8QaKiTGk

I liked the Da Vinci Code , but not as much as Angels and Demons. There's more action and suspense in Angels and Demons. The Wikipedia entry tells you why the Da Vinci code did not fare as well as they projected in the cinemas.

I can understand totally what is going on in Mexico. And the Struggles with the Catholic church. The same thing happens in the Philippines to slightly higher extent. There is no divorce there because of pressure from the church. Contraception programs are frowned upon, no they are not allowed period. And they try to legislate morality. Their laws, business, other systems are patterned after the US but culturally, they are closer to Mexico more than any other Latin American Country because it was administered as a colony from New Spain which is what Mexico was before they gained independence in 1810. Also because of the Galleon trade. Because of this, the church has a very very strong voice and influence despite having a separation of church and state on paper.

You probably know by now based on some of my comments on various shows Since FELS to Sorti that I have ex-girlfriends of different backgrounds. That is how I am aware of such things. One of my Ex-girlfriends who is Persian said that they could not do anything when they visited Iran and it was very difficult for them. Most Iranians here are Americanized or Euro influenced. So, they cannot relate to their ancestral homeland.

Of yeah, I forgot to mention that abortion is not allowed legally in the Philippines too. So whoever does it, has to do it underground.
So, I agree about going back to medieval times. Heck, they are probably going back to Torquemada during the Spanish inqusition of the Rennaisance.

Ibarramedia

Cielo, are you talking about this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCSIxHvSW7Q

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MG59E4GzzqM

The girls look good but they all talk fast. I can't understand most of what is being said.

Ibarramedia

That's the one, Ibarramedia. I didn't pay attention to the gals, I was too busy drooling over WL for the 10 seconds he got. ;) They were talking extremely fast.

Cielo de Levy i talked about Retazos de Vida when CCEA was on and early on when Sorti started you can try to put it in the google search engine maybe you can find a site where you can watch it.

Thanks, Anon. I will try it as soon as I get a chance.

Thanks for the links Ibarramedia. The movie looks interesting, I'll have to watch it.

It sounds like people really do have it hard on The Phillipines. Things like that make me doubt the positions of the Church. If every country obeyed their wishes were would we all be now?

Jarocha

That is the reason why they have 90 million people there. #12 in terms of world population. I was stunned that condoms and other 'family planning' methods are not allowed to be discussed in private schools which are of course 99% Catholic. The only contraception method they allow publicly are either the withdrawal method or abstinence. Of course, no one wants to go to public schools because it does not really compare. It is just like your comment the other day of the very rich on one side of the road and the very poor on the other side.

To give you an idea of the disparity between privarte schools and public schools, picture this, modern building sports complexes and olympic sized swimming pools, air conditioned buildings in that hot tropical place. The public schools on the other hand look like the poor buildings in Haiti and it has no electric fan. Like Night and day.

One time my ex- girlfriend's cousin told me there was even an exhibition Basketball and Soccer dual meet between a private school and a public school. The private shcool kids all had the latest Air Jordans which cost like $135 UD dollars, the public shcool kids had Chuck Taylors. The soccer match had the private school kids wearing shin guards, elbow pads, knee pads and very nice soccer cleats or boots as some call them, the public school kids wore just the uniform top and shorts, played barefooted. Why they even arranged such a competition is beyond me.

If you want a real shocker as in out of this world shocker, In Iran and the rest of the middle east, The women cannot expose their face and feet lest they be arrested. The Iranian girls I know are used to wearing bikinis and sometimes going topless on the beaches of Ibiza in Espana, They wanted to die over there in Iran.

Ibarramedia

I saw the first episode of Corazon Salvaje on youtube and it was ok. Not alot of beany moments. I wonder if that will change when I see it on the big screen.

The 1870's was the Victorian Era. I wonder how things were in Mexico at the time.

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia: you seem to know a lot about the Philippines. is your family from there? I am, so just curious.

I had classmates whose origins are Spaniards. I regret not learning Spanish in school, growing up there. Now, I desperately want to.

Ibarramedia, while women in the middle east do not have close to as many rights they do in America, they actually can show their faces in most countries. I've been to Saudi Arabia, UAE (ok, that one hardly counts as part of the middle east, and I know a lot of people who have gone to Iran, Afghanistan, and a few more places. In fact, I think the only place it was not allowed was Afghanistan under the Taliban.

Iran won't stay the way it is forever though. The women will definetely get their rights some time this century. In a country where more than 60% of college students are female, I don't think it's possible to oppress them for long. I'm optimistic about it. :)

I have dated many Filipino-American Girls over the years, I am a history buff so i know a lot of these things through research and the internet is a great thing when they can show you pictures, webpages and video clips. It would be oh so hard to imagine this things without pictures or videos.

I've been involved with a few Mexican, Italian, Salvadoran,Spanish,German, Swedish, danish, Estonian,Canadian, American White girls and a few black girls. What can I say, I love beautiful girls. ;) J/K

It is purely a coincidence that I am here and that happened because I was surfing the tv on a commercial break and saw some colonial era costumes. I thought it was the Patriot or the last of the Mohicans. Upon further watching, I realized they spoke spanish and I found out the name of the show was Pasion from my research and landed here. What upset me the most was that it was the very last week. Like a Monday or tuesday before the Friday Gran Final. Arrgh! I was supposed to quit after Fels but Connie and CherylNeMex talked me out of it. and Now i'm hooked. Corazon Salvaje is a period series, So I have to watch it because I'm a history buff.

Ibarramedia

Cielo De Levy, If I wee to go to the middle east, The UAE, Bahrain and Qatar would be my choice of destination. The UAE though, has a severe financial crisis and one of the sheiks of the neighboring emirate had to bail out Dubai, kind of like a mini stimulus package. The burj dubai is now the world's largest structure and building. It has vacancy problems vecause of the economic situation.

If I have to stay in Saudi Arabia and I don't have disposable income for a 5 star hotel, I would want to stay in a compound where I can live a western or American lifestyle while there.

Ibarramedia

It is interesting that we are discussing the arab world and the hispanic world. Two places that are so different in many ways. Yet one thing they have in common is that a lot of neighboring countries speak the same language.

Spanish in Latin America and Arabic in the middle east, except for Iran where they speak Farsi And Iran is not an arab country.

Ibarramedia

In December, on a tour on Eastern Europe, one of my fellow-travellers was a New Zealand nurse who was working in Ryad. She said that the King of Saudi had some very independent-minded daughters who did not like restrictions. Reform possibilities are hampered by some strong fundamemntalist groups.

I was a history and latin teacher for a short period of time so I am interested in language and culture. I got as far as learning the Arabic alphabet and enough to understand the basics of the grammar. I know enough French, Italian and Spanish to get confused.
Lynne

Ibarramedia: are you currently watching El Clon on Telemundo?

90 million people living in The Phillipines! Wow. That's almost the same population as México.

I can believe people living in those types of conditions. I've seen alot of that here, although I doubt there could be a soccer match with one of the team having such disantvantages!

The 1870's in México were pretty hectic but less so than the 1860's. Benito Juarez was settled in the presidency at the beginning but he died too soon and in the middle part of that decade Porfirio Díaz started a revolution that got him the presidency in 1976 and he lasted more than 30 years in the power (counting of course the 4 years he put another guy as a puppet on the presidential chair to make believe the people he wasn't cheating on the elections).

Jarocha

Ibarramedia, those are a definetely the best locations for westerners. It's interesting that you mentioned the Arab and Latin World together. We had a lecture in my International Relations class last semester on the similarities of the two nations ( I use that term very loosely). Oil, dictatorships, prospects for democracy, and more things like that. Quite fascinating.

Lynne, I'm in my second semester of Arabic right now. Hoping to get fluent enough to understand the Egyptian soap operas. :) Farsi and American Sign Language are the next languages I plan on studying.

Anon who is comparing Sortilegio to Tu o Nadie, I think you tend to like the first version of a story you see the best, just like your first Doctor Who is the real Doctor. I enjoyed Sortilegio because I like the love story, which is all I really care about in a novela. Sure bad plot is annoying, but if I enjoy the main couple, I can easily ignore that. I never saw Tu o Nadie, but based on your description, I like how they did the love story better in Sortilegio. The main couple is together more and I wouldnt' have wanted MJ to have fond memories of Bruno. It's just personal taste.

However, the shoe will be on the other foot for me with CS. I am a fan of the 93 version, so I have no desire to see the new version. I'm not particularly a Yanez fan, so he's not enough of an enticement to watch. But I have already seen those looking forward to the new version being upset by the 93 version fans putting it down. This is just something that happens when there is more than one version and it is hard for fans to separate dislike of a novela from insulting them personally.

mrslmgalleo I'm not watching El clon, just checked it out in between Commercials. I'm going crazy with all this tv viewing already talking a lot of my time. I just finished Sorti of course, Waiting for Enda to end. I will be watching CS. Casually watching Dinero for kicks but will not follow the show religiously. I will probably stop watching around March. I watch Vecinos at 10 on Telefutura. I also record the CSI shows and the Law and order shows.

I have seen a full epsisode of Perro Amor, but mostly flip to it for a few seconds in between commercials from Sorti. I may watch el Clon in the future if I can get a hold of all the shows. It is just too much now.

Jarocha, yes indeed the Philippines population of 90 million is almost as much as Mexico's which is 110 million. And it is a much bigger country in geographic size and area.

Cielo de Levy, If my memory is correct there are 26 Arabic speaking countries in the middle east and North Africa. And there are 20 Latin American countries plus Spain. The two worlds are similar in that Arabic has a strong inlfluence on Spanish with a lot of arabic words incorporated in it. They are also 2 areas that have multiple countries next to each other speaking the same language. No other place in the world has that. Not Asia and Europe. Africa has many different indigenous languages with some using French as a second language.

I suppose if the UK,Australia,New Zealand,Canada and the US were all next to each other, it would be a smaller version of that 'world'.

Lynne, I hope the daughters can make some kind of change for the women there, but I doubt it. i read something a few years ago about a princess being stoned to death back in the 70's. I forgot what the crime was but I think it was her father that ordered it. I doubt that would happen with a prince. Oh, another thing. Saudi Arabia and The Sultanate of Brunei in southeast asia are probably two of the world's remaining absolute monarchies. Like back in the middle ages where the king's word ws law. All the other monarchies today are constituional monarchies where the ruler id a figure head while the prime minister runs the country.

Jarocha, The public shcool soccer players had not cleats because it is hard to find those shoes in the Philippines. Believe it or not, soccer over there is not king. Basketball or Baloncesto ins spanish is king of sports there followed by Boxing and cock fighting. Jai Alai used to be big before it was abolished due to gambling and game fixing.

Anyway, The masses think only the super rich, and the spanish mestizo kids play it that's why they have no proper equipment, though they could wear sneakers. then again, maybe they could not afford it either. There is a sizable Spanish minority there who are mostly basque and Andalucian in origin. The newer generation of kids who were born in the late 70's to the present don't know how to speak spanish. They Speak English instead unlike their parents and grand parents who were trilingual speaking Spanish, English and Tagalog. Same with the pelotaris. Though some 'newer' generations of them came from Spain in the 1970's. The perception there, and they are partly right is that the Spanish mestizos and criollos there have old money or old wealth. They own a lot of corporations there. The Biggest being the Ayala Corporation being run now by Jaime Zobel de Ayala who trace his lineage to Spain, Germany and Mexico.

Ibarramedia

Pascal I wonder how the 2009 version of Corazon Salvaje will compare to the older ones. This one is set in 1870. The older ones I think were set in the 1920's So it will be interesting to see how the storylines take shape with a different era.

Ibarramedia

Pascal- Well said and so true!

Sortilegio is the third version of the Tu o' Nadie novela while i did not see the second Carla along with the original writer of Tu O' nadie did too much to try to distinguish themselves differently from those other versions.

Too much in my opinion of overkill as for MJ not reminiscing about having fond memories of Bruno, it was because Bruno wasn't written like Max. Bruno's driving force was the presidency and inheritance.

Max's was Raquel and then the inheritance, plus Max was never brutal with Raquel like Bruno was with MJ.

I have never watched Dr. Who but i have watched Star trek but to each his own i have the right to be critical because i feel unsatisfied
sort of like eating at a all you can eat chinese buffet but several hours later you're hungry again.

To leave so many open ended plots at the end, like i said before if William wasn't end this version of it i would have bailed a long long time ago.

Ibarramedia, I read The Future of Freedom by Fareed Zakaria (the guy on CNN) last semester, and he gives some very thought-provoking ideas on democracy in the middle east, predicting it'll come when the region stops depending on its natural resouces for its economy. To be honest, I think the entire region will take awhile longer than some individual states like Iran may take. It has a lot to do with the people I think. Iran has demonstrations and protests from its populations in response to injustice. It's dangerous, but the people there do it anyways. In Saudi, most people are too frightened to speak out against anything, maybe because it has more foreigners (Indians, Pakistanis, Africans, etc) who don't want to be sent back to their countries of origin. I still don't think it is impossible for the middle east to move forward, though. It just may take a long period of time. A lot of the members of the royal families are educated abroad, and do have idealogies that are closer to ours. Queen Rania of Jordan and the prior Queen Noor have done great good for the lesser priviledged in their country. One step at a time. There's
a long way to go, but it is certainly not impossible.

Ok, lol I think I've strayed far enough from whatever topic I was originally going to comment on. Disculpa. I might be too much of an idealist at times.

Anon, at times I wished that Bruno had done more out of love for MJ. It might have made a more interesting triangle.

We all don't have to agree about the same thing. That's why I encourage people to speak their mind about how they really feel about something. I don't take a disagreement personally. No one should as long as there are no personal attacks. Disagreeing with someone does not mean you are disrespecting them. You can do that civilly and with respect.

Ibarramedia

Glad to read that, Ibarramedia :) ...funny, I'm supposed to write an essay on the culture of Japan, and here I am making arguments for the Middle East...lol completely distracted myself.

Cielo~~ I was interested to read that you have studied Arabic and plan to study Farsi and American sign language. I know some Arabic, but I can't write or read it. The community college where I teach offers Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, French, Chinese , American sign language, and ESL. It's always interesting to me that Arabic countries have different dialects. A few years ago, I had a lot of Syrian guys in my classes, but I also had 2 brothers from Morroco. They could barely understand each other. People say that I have a Kuwaiti and Syrian accent because students from those countries taught me Arabic. Good luck ! By the way, what is your major ? Do you speak any other languages ?

Cielo, to continue our wayward and OT disussions just a little bit, Iran has the best chance of being progressive because they have so many expats out here and in Europe. They can be a pipeline finacially and educationally to a 'new Iran'. Before the revolution of 1979, iran was slowly becoming more western in many ways. That is part of the downfall of the Shah Of Iran.

On a side note: Queen Noor is a half American who grew up here in MD. And she now lives in Potomac, md Close by.

I also met Princess Yasmine Pahlavi during a business deal before. She is very attractive and just down to earth as a regular person. She does not even use the Princess title. :) She was even surprised I knew who she was based on her name. She is married to Crown Prince Reza, son of the late Shah. She takes good care of herself physically. Quite sexy I might add.

Ibarramedia

P.S. Cielo~~~My daughter went to Japan a few years ago on a Fulbright scholarship to tour schools with about 2oo other U.S. teachers. She made a website with some interesting photos. She was especially fascinated by the public toilets. I've had several Japanese students. Most of them have been the wives of guys working at the local Olympus factory. They loved checking out her website and seeing photos of locales they were familiar with.

I agree the MJ and Alex love story was far better than the Raquel and Antonio at least the lovemaking scenes, over all acting i have to give it to Andres Garcia and Lucia Mendez. William carried his role quite well and i could definitely put him on the same level as Andres Garcia.

i can't say the same for Jackie B. she doesn't measure up to Lucia Mendez as a actress to me but i also didn't want her for this role either.

Now certain plots went too far to try to make this novela and different from it's predecessors the rape scene between Roberto and Raqhell. First she's applauding him after the act is completed and saying that she has always wanted him to love her like that Que the hell.

Then after hooking up with Useless on a regular basis she starts saying Roberto rape me to everyone. Not necessary.

The other over the top and repugnant plot Maura procuring Mateo to use a date rape drug on Katia, they write in one scene how Maura is concern and very worried and scared about her younger sister illness.

Then they have setting up someone else's younger sister to be drugged and date rape, too much to try to set yourself apart.

Hello, Susanlynn. I've been confused by some of the native speakers in class from Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, and Palestine who do not speak Modern Standard Arabic. That's cool that you know some too. :). I am actually an English Lit. major, but I'm extremely interested in languages and international relations. I speak Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, some Spanish thanks to high school, novelas, and Caray, and now I'm working with Arabic. I can also understand some Punjabi, but not my favorite language to encounter. The accent is a real pain sometimes.

Ibarramedia, ITA about Iran, and that is way cool that you met the princess! Very impressive. Some of them are quite glamorous. Queen Rania is very beautiful as well.

Susanlynn, Japan seems like a very nice place to go and relax. I think it's at the top of my desired places to visit in Asia.

Anon I can only attribute Maura's plot for the date rape drug incident with Katya as selfishness on her part. Sure she is concerned about her siter's health becausse she is her sister. That's normal. She does not care about Katya because she is nothing to her.

Ibarramedia

I checked out Tu o' Nadie a couple months ago, to compare with Sorti, and I thought the acting in the older version was very 'wooden.' And the original moved oh so sloooow.... IMHO.

Cielo, Yasmine (she asks me to call her by her name) Lives in Potomac too. Potomac is a very affluent area here in the DC area. I ran into Lynda Carter a few times while shopping at the mall. Bantered with her. She dresses very low key so that you don't recognize her. Saw Mike Tyson too a few times when he used to live here... Sugar Ray Leonard also lived here for a number of years. But I never saw him. It's funny, I never get starstruck with them. They are just people to me.

Would you be starstruck if You met William Levy? ;)

Ibarramedia

Aren't you all glad Sorti has not been extended to oh, 150-200 episodes? A lot of people would probably be banging their heads if that was what happened. :)

Ibarramedia

mrslmgallego-

I also checked out some of Tu o Nadie online. All this talk made me curious. The timelin in the two is not the same, and there are of course the differences in the plot. But compare these scenes:

So funny that Zeke plays the same role, with the same wardrobe in both! Must have been a kick for the actor.

OMG, if I were to meet WL! I met three Indian superstars (Shahrukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor), Christopher Duncan (lol guy who comes on Saturday Night Live as Obama sometimes), and I forget the name but the quarter back of the Oakland Raiders. I nearly had a heart attack when meeting Shahrukh Khan, my fave actor since childhood. Meeting WL, I would probably lose my mind in the same way.

Ibarramedia thank you for all the fantastic info you have shared today about The Phillipines. It is quite interesting to hear, especially given all their roots.

About remakes versus originals. I do think you can become very critical of the remake and start comparing. But I've seen some really good remakes and some terrible ones. I think as long as you make a good novela it shouldn't matter if it is a remake. I saw Café Con Aroma de Mujer back in the day and then I saw the remake Cuando Seas Mía with Silvia Navarro and Sergio Basañez and I liked it alot even though I had seen the original. Meanwhile, didn't like Destilando Amor. Strangely, Destilando Amor follows more closely "Café" than Cuando Seas Mía does, but I prefered the style of CSM much better. It helped that the main couple was younger, especially Silvia Navarro who was 22 in CSM, while Angélica Rivera was 37 in DA. In the same way, most of the cast of CSM was in their 20's and early 30's. Azteca used their best actors and every couple became very popular, even the villain couple was fascinating. I just generally thought it was an excellent remake. It is the most succesfull novela TV Azteca has ever made, with the biggest rating peaks and it was sold to most countries than any other novela from that network. I was a fan of the original, but that didn't stop me from enjoying the remake. I think if you make those types of remakes then watching the story again is worth it. By the way, Televisa also has some good remakes, like La Mentira from 1996. Or even La Dueña (that's going to be remade again in "La Dueña de Tu Amor"), but I didn't use them because most people are not familiar with those stories (yet, as both will be remade this year again by Televisa) or the originals.

Anon, I agree that is doesn't make sense for MJ to care about Bruno the way he was written, I'm just saying I'm glad they didn't write him so MJ had fond memories. I'm not a big triangle fan.

Vivi in DC, thank you!

Jarocha, how would you compare the Mexican style of TNs with that of the Colombian style? It would be normal to favor the Mexican stuff since they are the 'home team'. Just wondering what your take is.

Ibarramedia

Everyone's opinion is not going to be the same whether you like the Tu O' Nadie version, the Acapulco, Cuerpo y Alma or the Sortilegio version it depends on what we as individuals like or don't like period.

Whether others are annoyed by someone else's opinion that's their problem to deal with.

Imagine that someone who has never seen CS may consider this new version the greatest novela they have ever seen but that is that person's opinion.

Cielo, You met Jamarcus Russell? He's a big dude. I would like to meet Padma Lakshsmi from Iron Chef or one of those chef shows. I think she is smart, hot, sophisticated and tall. :)

Ibarramedia

Anon, I meant to say I did appreciate hearing about Tu o Nadie, even if it didn't personally appeal more to me.

And yes, there will be some who will think 2009 CS is the greatest ever :-). Just as there are those who didn't like 93 CS because they liked earlier versions better. And there will always be those who take different opinions personally, even if they shouldn't. I think it has become a bit of a problem in the US--we can't debate without taking it personally.

Ibarramedia, that's him! Met him in a bowling alley in Alameda, CA. There were some more players too, but that's the one my cousins were most excited to see.

And I also love watching Iron Chef. I'm a bigger fan of Aces of Cakes though.

Cielo, Good luck to him. The Raiders are in an even worse situation than My Redskins. At least we will be on our winning ways again with coach Shanahan.

Vivi, Tu o nadie has that Miami Vice feel to it with the colors and the clothing style. I know T o N was in the 80's though. Ezequiel looks a bit different when he was younger. The Mother looks like Rufi from ENDA. From what I've seen of clip 120-A,it was choppy and the scenes were shaky. The action scenes were questionable. Effects looked cheap.

Note: I don't have the benefit of seeing the entire series so my commnetary is strictly on the clip from 120-A.

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia/Cielo de Levy: very interesting OT discussions from you two! I always enjoy finding out commenters' backgrounds and hobbies/special interests. 8 ? )

Ah, the esteemed Jardinera decided to join us tonight. :) I'm multitasking here. I'm posting here and elsewhere in between sets because i'm lifting right now. I'm also watching cold case while lifting and posting.

Ibarramedia

LOL, I'm watching the cartoon movie Prince of Egypt, writing my Japan paper (more or less), eating spaghetti, posting here, and texting two of my gfs.

Jardinera, always nice to hear from you. :)

Ibarramedia: I like Colombian novelas alot. I think right now some of the best shows are coming out of Colombia. Argentina is doing a great job too. My favorite style though is the old Mexican style I grew up with that is not present anymore. I loved novelas made by Ernesto Alonso, the Zurita-Bach team, Florinda Meza, Carlos Sotomayor, Lucy Orozco, etc. The old style of Carla Estrada with René Muñoz as head writer was great (I like Zarattini's work, but together with Carla sometimes is a bit too much of everything for me). I liked the slower beginings and the attention to details of the old novelas. I also think that back in the day there was a better balance with the actors, right now most of the big leada are too older for the characteres they are playing.

I think last year the best example of old 90's style was Mi Pecado, Cuahutemoc Blanco and Maricarmen Peña are some of my favorite writers but Juan Osorio is not as good producer as Carlos Sotomayor who would have been the one to make this novela had it been made 10 years earlier. I like it, because the plot was good as was the writing, but I kept thinking in how Sotomayor or the Bach-Zurita team would have made that novela a classic, like they did with Cadenas de Amargura and Cañaveral de Pasiones, also original works of the Blanco-Peña team. They also wrote El Manantial which was produced by Carla Estrada and it was also well done.

Jarocha

Btw Ibarramedia, lol I have no liking of football whatsoever. My cousins were very disappointed over my lack of excitement upon seeing the player. I'm a bigger fan of basketball. I'd have been excited to meet Kobe Bryant. Not too big on soccer either, but I welcome David Beckham to come meet me any day! :)

Ibarramedia,

I've missed you. Glad to see you back. I'm very impressed:

"I've been involved with a few Mexican, Italian, Salvadoran,Spanish,German, Swedish, danish, Estonian,Canadian, American White girls and a few black girls. What can I say, I love beautiful girls. ;)"

Do you like opera? You have to love this from Don Giovanni. I hope you don't mind. I just couldn't resist.

Carlos

Ibarramedia- I see you are a true Skins fan. Ever hopeful when a new coach comes into town. ;-)

I am also multitasking, but just watched Brothers and Sisters, although I also love Cold Case. It's really hard to choose between the two. Haven't seen B&S in a while and in watching it tonight realized that it has some elements that would be great for a telenovela- patriarch of a large family who runs the family company dies, leaving large amounts of shares to his mistress and leaving doubt about the paternity of said mistress' daughter. That daughter falls for one of the sons of the deceased (thank goodness they turn out not to be related). Another illegitimate child appears out of the woodwork from another mistress, who committed suicide because she was rejected by the patriarch. He some comes to the family looking for revenge. The mistress who has the shares, also makes the family's life hell and hates her daughter being romantically involved. Throw in a gay brother, his husband, a brother on the run from the law who goes into hiding in Mexico, a politician brother-in-law who may run for the presidency (of the United States!), affairs, May-December romance (older woman), cancer, miscarriages, and heart attacks. Wow! The only they are missing is a murderous villian. Very good show though.

Finally done with the Japan essay, moving on to sociology hw. Reading about race and class in urban communities. Very, very interesting class.

Vivi, that is definetely novela material. :)

Everyone ready for CS? I am kinda excited for it, though I must admit I know nothing of pirates beyong Captain Jack Sparrows. :-)

Cielo, If you see Kobe Bryant, keep on walking, no asking for autographs!

Vivi in DC: it's no wonder they have to update these TNs. I don't know which is worse, the powder blue interior of the T o N house, or the technicolor in Sorti. I find that the standard of beauty (mine anyway) changes every decade. In the 80's, Andres Garcia/ Tom Selleck types made me swoon. The only one I still love from that decade is Don Johnson (Miami Vice) - when I watch it today, I still love him.

Ibarramedia: funny that you mentioned Miami Vice - to this day, it's one of my faves; I have all 5seasons on dvd, plus Miami is may fave city in the whole US of A.
And yes, so glad Sorti was only 95 epis long.

btw, I used to live in No Va b/w '79-'94 (Annandale, Fairfax, Alexandria,Falls Church).

lol, Sandy! That's exactly what mom here in Cali says too! My crush on Kobe died with the rape case, but admiration for his basketball skills is still there. Really, no autograph...

Jarocha, Cuahutemoc Blanco is the name sake of the soccer player from the Chicago Fire from MLS and the Mexican national team. :)

Cielo, My NBA team is the Lakers. Always has been since Magic and Kareem. My football team is the Redskins and will always be no matter where I may live.

Lol @ Don Giovanni Carlos. I prefer to be Bruce Wayne and James Bond though. And those were not all at the same time. i'm not that lucky. ;) They are over the course of many years since I started dating. I don't really follow Opera that much but have seen Miss Saigon and Les Miserable in the 90's.

Jarocha, I too love the attention to detail. I also love continuity and it kills me when there are lapses of this. Have not seen Argentine or any other Novelas. There is one Venezuelan series that runs like 3am. Can't watch that.

Sandy, Is Kobe Bryant not fan friendly?

Ibarramedia

Kobe got very fan friendly once, and was arrested for it!

Carlos, you're bad!

Maybe too late on this thread, but I wanted to thank all the recappers and commenters!

Though I haven't participated much in Sorti, I have kept up thanks to the great recaps, and I've been entertained and informed by the comments when I have dropped in!

Ibarramedia, I love the Lakers too. I think my mother in TN (Sandy) said no autographs because of Kobe's rape case a few years back, which he was announced innocent of, but quite a scandalous thing. It is hard to look at him the same way as a person after the incident. I started reading a book about it awhile ago, and sometimes I don't know if I believe he was innocent, though I'd certainly like to believe it.

I just saw the other comment by Cielo, and I remember that situation. All I will say on that matter is there are 3 sides to a story. Kobe's the girl's and then there is the truth.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kobe_Bryant_sexual_assault_case

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia,

James Bond and Bruce Wayne are good choices, however, Mozart didn't write any songs about them. You have a good sense of humor and are a very good sport.

Carlos

Ooh, missed your comment Mom. Even if he is innocent, the case was a big enough deal for me to get over him as a crush, like I said. Don't worry about me. :)

Ibarra, on the three sides, I agree. Just don't want my young friend to take any chances!

Randy Sea, we've missed you.

From a male perspective whether guilty or not, if you are accused of rape, the stigma attached to it is so damning. I guess what I'm saying is if he is innocent, you don't have to shun him. And if he was guilty but was sorry and paid the price then move on from it.

Of course, if you do see him or any other famous guy, it won't be alone. There are other people out there too. So you can feel safe. I doubt you will just run into him on the street anyway.

mrslmgallego, my sister lives in Alexandria and my parents are in Lansdowne in Loudon County.

Ibarramedia

Cielo, you would have to take a plane or drive 6 hours down south to see David Beckham and Kobe Bryant. You friends in the neighborhood must not be so happy with you rooting for the Lakers instead of the Golden State Warriors.

Ibarramedia

Now my two cents on the finale and Sortilegio as a novela:

This treatment left me wanting. So much was overdone from the cartoonish sets to the histrionic performances. So much brawling, bawling, fistfighting, and the point blank shooting was way over the top.

I like the Oedipus reading of this and it makes total sense, but the direction and the characterizations should have made this more apparent, it's easy to see after the fact when pointed out, thank you EJ, but if it had been more apparent from the way the scenes were actually acted and filmed it would have been more successful.

I would have liked the Victoria character a lot more if I could have seen her struggle with a perverse love of Bruno, even though repulsive and creepy, at least her actions would have made sense. To me, her actions didn't make sense most of the time, it's as if the writers weren't sure what to make of her character.

I think she was supposed to be sympathetic or else why would be believe her pairing with Fer? But she was not sympathetic, she was pathetic, a self involved drama queen.

Again, think how much more sense it would have made if she had been a plainly bi---y queen bee who favored her bad seed and plotted and planned with him. Heck I would have like the Victoria Ferdumbo thing better if she had been bad, and he had a doomed perverse fascination with her. Then her toying with him would have made sense, she could have died at the end and he would have been free of her spell.

Okay...enough Sunday Night Quarterbacking! See you all on Corazon Salvaje, fasten your seatbelts (and your beanie straps)!

Ibarramedia, I know what you mean. Shunning is definetely not the answer if he was innocent of rape, guilty of adultery, but sorry. What do you think of the whole Tiger Woods thing btw? I just have to say, it must be horrible to have all of your life played for you and the whole world on TV. Very painful for families.

Oh no they are not, Ibarramedia. Lol my 6th grade PE teacher was a huge fan of the Warriors, and friend of some players and the mascot Thunder. She invited him to our school for rallies all the time. Boy was she disappointed when she saw me at a Warriors vs Lakers game in a Kobe jersey.

Dad's a Lakers fan too, but every year at the beginning of the season, he's like "I think the Warriors will do good this year." And I say, "Dad, you say that every year."

When this was going down the first time, I gave him the benefit of the doubt whereas almost everybody vilified him already. You can even look up that post. Now that is out in the open and he 'had to' apologize to the public, they are attempting to do damage control with his image because as you said Will, It is about the $$$. it is also about the public perception.

I agree with all of you in that it is nobody's business but his and his wife's. The problem you see is that the public put him on a pedestal so high that he has to be perfect. Any imperfection no matter how slight or huge is scrutinized. Hero worship at its best and worst. He has to live up to an impossible standard. We have seen this so many times with high profile people in the public. Actors, Singers,Athletes,Media people,Politicians, the wealthy and famous, the infamous. Now if it was someone in your family or your neighbor, co-worker or classmate, no one would care. At the end of the day, Tiger Woods is just a human being who happens to be very good at playing golf. We just need to leave him be.

Someone I know said this:

What does he have to apologize for? He's an athlete, not a politician where his judgments can impact others (even though most politicians are screwing everything that moves...) so I can't figure why he, or others, apologize to the public like that. Just once I would like someone like him to walk up the mic and say "It's between me and my wife and none of your damn business. I hit golf balls for a living, nothing more, nothing less. See you all on the golf course" and walk away.

The only "mistake" Tiger made was getting married. However, philandering men of the wealthy/famous variety are par for the course (excuse the pun) with such men, and always have been and always will be.

News flash: wealthy/famous men, due to the nature of the male species, given easy access to sex, will more often then not, take advantage of it.

People really need to (1) get a life and (2) stop looking to athletes as examples of good moral/ethical behavior.

Only lesson here is, the same old lesson: if you are going to use your fame/wealth to bang everything that moves, DON'T get married.

PS, the above is a rhetorical question. The reason he/they have to go on public TV and eat humble pie is about $$$. If you don't go on TV and talk about what a horrible person you are, how you made terrible mistakes, yada yada, and so forth, they lose lose contracts/endorsements if they don't get their PR machine back up and running. As usual, comes down to good old money.

"Sex addict" is a term being applied for him so he has a "diagnosis" and something to "fix." I don't know if he's truly a sex addict in the clinical sense, but he's a few hundred/thousand less women then various rock stars, etc. Most men, given access to sex when ever they want it, will take advantage of that. So, most powerful/famous men are sex addicts, or true sex addiction is quite different then simply being a guy who can't keep it in his pants. I suspect Tiger really falls into the latter category, but we are not privy to his life beyond what he/they tell us on TV.

This whole 'sex addict' thing has had me wondering as well.

What exactly IS a sex addict anyway? Sounds to me like Tiger's problem is a marriage problem first and foremost.

Would the 'sex addict' label be applied if he were single and banging these women?

There is my take on the whole thing. ;)

Ibarramedia

Randy Sea,

See, I knew we missed you! I really agree on the histrionic acting. You forgot the "lame computer plot". That didn't help the ending. Oh well, we're here for our Spanish and they were certainly speaking that.

Randy, I did not mind the fist fights. It kept me amused like I was watching an action film. Were you referring to Bruno's shooting? I was not point blank. It was from distance. Erik was a few yards away, close to the brown bag full of money.

Looks like you would have wanted Victoria to be a clone of Dona Juana from Alborada. She plotted luis' downfall so that her son Diego would never have to worry about Luis being the rightful heir. Dona Juna also had a stronger personality than Victoria.

They did bawl a lot. I could do without the cry fest.

Ibarramedia

It was because of that lame computer plot that Maura is behind bars. If she did not agreed to do that, she might still be free.

Ibarramedia

Thanks Sandy!

It seemed like Bruno shooting Alex was just outside the SUV right? That thing was a bit much for me, maybe too realistic considering that it really happens in a lot of places, as I think you commented the other day Ibarra.

I don't know if you guys have seen Cuna do Lobos, but it's similar to what you're describing from Alborada. Catalina Creel plots to keep her stepson from becoming the heir so that her son can have it all.

BTW, it's such a great novela, I know what those like Jarocha mean when they refer to "classic" style telenovelas. I'm afraid of what the new Cuna de Lobos will be like. I hope so different that the comparison won't matter.

Randy Sea LOL at your POV but all so ITA with it love it just love it.

MrsImgallego since Tu O' Nadie was made in 1985 it would have that Miami Vice type of look and feel, but i loved the interior of that Lombardo household better than this version.Yes my standard of interior decorating or colors for that matter has changed but since blue is my favorite color. I don't like a multiple mixture of colors against each other like the Sorti set. I'll take the set on Tu O' Nadie anyday over the Sorti set.

Once i saw that horrid Barbie watermelon pink fridge from hell i was like burn the set please my eyesight is bad enough i already wear glasses.

Cielo de Levy i love Top Chef, and Iron Chef America and i get a kick out of Hell's kitchen love them.

As for our hero worship of entertainers i was let down by Michael Jackson, R Kelly and Dwight Gooden i found it very hard to forgive them for their transgressions.

Especially since they want to own up to what i believe they committed. Dwight at least is admitting he's has a problem and trying to get better.

MJ we lost this past year because of his drug abuse.

As for R Kelly i refuse to buy any of his music.

While i know they are human an fallible like you and me it's hard and sometime devastating that these athletes and entertainers are just as human as me and you.

I guess the reason we get suck into believing that they are special is because they are on our TV or the papers and magazines we read.

I realize through heartbreak to separate the entertainer from music, sports, or acting and just realize the only difference between them and us they are on the world's stage.

Even when they want the press to respect their private life it not going to happen see Tiger Woods.

Now i ask you what would you rather have the money and no privacy that these entertainers don't have no matter how many times they ask the public to respect their privacy.

Would you rather have the life you live right now with no notoriety whatsoever.

Anon, I would rather live my life any day. Though it is quiet, at times dull, I have my family, friends, Caraymates, and my problems are my problem an nobody else's. I don't have to see people looking at me as a let down because their children admired me, and then I screwed up. I share my life with those who mean something to me, and I don't need any more fame or money.

Interesting take, Ibarramedia. I also think that Tiger's mistake was probably getting married when he had no desire to be a one-woman-only-guy. I don't mean to be demeaning or anything, forgive my wording if it is, but what is the problem that so many guys seem to have with devoting themselves to one woman? I know a guy who is a semi-friend of mine, who is friendly, but damn, does he have issues with flirting, cheating, hearing me lecture him on how he's a horrible human being, and then asking me out. There are girls like that out there too, I'm sure, but I have had it with these guys! Ick.

I take it back, though. Hate to sound sexist. Girls must do it too, just have to keep telling myself that.

Man, I've traveled far from Sortilegio.

Wow how many comments has it been is this a new record?

Anna Nicole Smith is an example of a woman like that. Tragic life and death, though. Hate to use a deceased person as an example.

Cielo de Levy once again you're too cute,m yes there are women out here like your male friend as me trying to lecture them. When they complain about how they are treated i point out to them their behavior.

When they ask me what do i mean do i mean by that, i tell time will tell you and you should reflect upon your actions. If they still don't get it just change the subject who was that said about Vicki the week before last week. You can't fix stupid.

These people i realized have something wrong with them that make them continue to act like that i found out a long time ago about lecturing them myself.

If they do come to me ask me my advice i tell them what i said above in my answer.

ITA i don't want any fanfare or public scrutiny i love the little niche i have made in my life already an i am totally content right now.

The country music stars are a thousand times better than the Hollywood stars and athelets. They are VERY quiet and mostly stay out of trouble. Chris Johnson, who plays for the Titans has waved guns in the faces of two of his neighbors.

Forgive me if I dance around the question abit as you left it open for me to craft my answer in a way that is clever. I will take the money without the fame and insure that I control any bad publicity that may happen through damage and spin control by my advisers orlegal team. Heck, I may buy the newspapers since I have the money anyway. Not all wealthy people are famous. Not everyone knows who Warren Buffet,Carlos Slim,Karl Albrecht,Lakshmi Mittal. Same with most of the owners of professional teams.

A lot of Entertainers and athletes cannot handle the fame and fortune. Mostly the fame. That is why they crash and burn.

Cielo, regarding your question of why guys are always cheating and flirting, etc. It's wired in us. Been like that since we were cavemen. That is an anthropological reality. Before the concept of marriage was invented. That is why I'm still not married. With every failed relationship, I don't have to say I'm divorced and not have to worry about paying alimony. And when the time comes, it will happen. I think a lot of young guys should get it out of their system. Some marry to young. Just my opinion.

I just have to LOL @ semi-friend. :D

Ibarramedia

Anon, our similarities just keep piling up. Yes, I've given up on him completely. He got offended when he complained to me about his gf, and I said at least she's not seeing other guys. "Ouch, that actually hurt." lol must of called me a jerk or cursed at me, but don't really remember. Only bothered him for five minutes though. I found that asking him about his gf every time he wants to flirt works rather well. ;)

Ibarramedia, I think it is good not to be married if you're not really into it. Props to ya. lol, I have another very nice friend who is married with two kids (he's not super young either though...maybe in his mid thirties) who always tells me that he doesn't understand the natural tendency guys have for flirting and cheating. He sort of confirms my prejudices. He claims to be very feminine though, and that's why he says he relates more to girls.

And lol yes semi-friend because I see him twice a week, but any additional hanging out he wants to do, I'm like sorry, but I have things to do. Did I mention he asked to hang out on Valentine's Day with me? I told him to ask his gf. ;)

Sandy i love Country music both of my parents were from down south, a lot of my friends look at me weird because i have a very varied wide musical taste.

It's a influence my music instructors passed down to me from taking chorus during elementary, Junior High school and High school.

So i love classical, rap, rock, pop and rb which i grew up on in my household.

I go on the espn page everyday to get the latest on my teams and i kept seeing Chris Johnson name being brought up in a post for a possible trade i was didn't even bother to read it because he just won the MVP for Offensive payer of the year award.

Now i know why they were making a post about my team trading for him.

This reminds me of Pacman Jones who should have never been given a opportunity to ever play in the NFL again for what he did at that strip bar to incite a riot that caused a man to be paralyzed for life.Let's include this Felon which is what i call him has been in trouble with the law not one or two times but 13 times and counting.

Also Dontae Stallworth who have serving a only 28 days for vehicle manslaughter while DUI and being suspending for only one year from the NFL for his actions just signed with the Ravens i'm totally disgusted.

Cielo de Levy ITA with our similarities i once had let me stress had a married male friend who i was very cool with. I could discuss with him my problems with my current boyfriend at the time or someone i may have been interested in.

Then all of a sudden he started acting weird with me and asking me how i felt about him and telling me stories how he cheated on his wife. How upset she got when he was speaking to a female.

I would tell him because she knows you're not being faithful, it wasn't penetrating old blockhead so i decided to cut him loose and move on.

As hard as it is to believe there are a lot of woman who want to be with a lot of guys before they settle down. trust me when i say i have met a lot of them and i am still shock by how they carry themselves.

Just to be clear, I never cheated while in a relationship. And I will be married someday. I do want to be married now actually. Just want the right girl. Hope this helps before perceptions go crazy. :)

You semi-Friend has issues with his GF if he really has one.

When it comes to Football players, I only want character guys on my team. Smart, hard working guys who stay out of trouble. That's the standard that Coach Joe Gibbs left us.

I think Coach Fisher is a solid coach. A good guy. But Chris Johnson is not going anywhere. He is the league MVP and one of maybe 6-7 guys to rush for over 2,000 yards a season. He may need guidance as he is a bit young. Same with Lendale White. Agree totally about Adam Jones not playing. He should be banned from the league forever. Can't call him pacman because he does not like that name anymore. Besides the real Pacman is Manny Pacquiao.

I think Donte Stallworth has really been contrite. I hope I don't read about any negative off the field activities from him anymore.

Roger Goodell has been the strictest Commissioner of the 4 major American Sprots leagues ever. Very much into good behavior and it shows with his harsh suspensions.

Ibarramedia

You said it, Anon. Guess we're just a bit more traditional than other people. I just let go of a crush because I discovered he was seeing the same girl for the past four years. I don't like the idea of having a crush on someone who is "taken" unless it's a celebrity because they put themselves out there to be loved, and it's not like there's a big chance I'd ruin WL's relation with Elizabeth by saying I love him. :). LOL, ok enough posts for me. I'm going to bed. Chat with ya'll mañana.

LOL, ok really last post.

I think you're a very nice and honest person, Ibarramedia, and I have no doubt that you've never cheated. Sadly, I've met the guy's gf once, not enough times to understand why she is with him. I've been making too many judgments already, but I must say that I figure she must be extremely naive or desperate not to see it.

Good nite.

DON'T FORGET CRISTINA TONIGHT

Elenco de Sortilegio

Can we have a separate discussion about the show?

Bruno did not really want the construction company he just wanted Alec not to have it. He didn't want Alec to have anything. Bruno did not value anything he acquired as long as Alec continued to exist. He may have been satisfied if Alec lost everything and Victoria agreed to never see Alec again in life but he would just look for another victim for his hatred. His appearances of giving love were followed by brutality. I'm thinking domestic violence here. There was never an occasion where he thought of others or even valued their opinion of him. And he played his mother even on the beach scene asking her to prove her love by joining him in destroying Alec. I see Bruno so very differently. And Victoria too.
Victoria was not only stuck on stupid but it supported her prayers for a miracle. She never was willing to let go and let God.

But after speaking my mind I'm okay with being a solo opinion.

Bonney:

He didn't want Alec to have anything. Bruno did not value anything he acquired as long as Alec continued to exist.

I think that's a valid point too. There were many times that i didn't think Bruno was just after money, it was more like he wanted Alex's money specifically. Not just position as president, but Alex's position. I agree. :)

Bruno was already a despicable character even with Alejandro out of the way. Suppose that Alejandro really died when the truck hit the car, Bruno would run the company inot the ground, still verbally and physically abuse people under him. Now would he continue to do really criminal acts later on. I don't know. Maybe that one time murder of Alejandro would be it though.

One thing is for sure,Maura would not havebeen an accesory to Bruno's crimes and Elena would not have run into Maria Jose because There woul have been no Maria Jose and Sandra Switch because Bruno would never allow that. The switch that happened was Bruno's idea anyway. A little bit of revisionist history if you will...

Ibarramedia

Good point, Ibarramedia. Even with Alex out of the equation, I agree, Bruno would have been a menacing character.

lol I feel like I never left Caray. Woke up and came straight back.

MJ and Sandra switch was Useless idea he was even willing to go so far as to kidnapped baby Tony to MJ to cooperate.

Once Dr.Demented got Useless out of the way he told Elena scrap that idea from that idiot and let's recruit Bruno.

Bruno kept hearing about Sandra and overheard a conversation between Alex and Vicki about MJ family background.

Bruno also remember when Katia brought up the name Elena and how Maura was upset she gossiped about it to Bruno.

Bruno put two and two together confronted Maura chock the you know what out of her and got all of the necessary info he needed.

He then paid a visit to Elena and Dr. Demented and told them he wanted in on their plans. He came back to recruit Maura to help him by enticing with you get Alex back like you have always wanted.

Maura still delusional finally accepted his offer and helped.

Bruno driving force is to take away everything Alex has he didn't even want to share his mother's love with Alex which drove him insane. Bruno got off on hurting Alex anyway he could whether it was physically or verbally he didn't care.

Bruno even hated Antonio which again brings up his unhealthy attachment to his mother. but Vicki also had the same feelings for Bruno.

Hmmm. you're right anon. If Muara did not join in at that time, she would have been in the clear. It is one thing to provide information. Another thing to reluctantly join him.

Another thing, If Alejandro and Victoria learned how to talk in private, Bruno would not know about Maria Jose's background history. Part of the snafu is Bruno inadvertently stumbling on information leaked out because of carelessness.

Ibarramedia- Your girl Padma Lakshmi's ears must have been burning with your comments about her yesterday because she had a baby yesterday. You know, she is single... :)

I hope someone creates a page for the Cristina show tonight.

Padma Single? Had a baby? whaaat is going on here? ;) So who's the daddy?

Ibarramedia

SI, POR FAVOR!!! - Cristina page for tonight, b/c I won't understand most of what they'll be saying.

Jarocha can you tell us what's happening with CS before i saw it was 200 episodes now i see it saying it's only for 135 episodes.

They are saying the La Duena de tu Amor will be following it

Wow! I can't belive all the comments! I'm so far behind, I'll never get through them all. I was going to post a spot for the Cristina show tonight if you still want me too. I so can't wait for the new show tonight. I'm home with a migraine today so hopefully I'll be able to get caught up on the comments. So many interesting discussions.

Yes. Please do Connie. And feel better!

William Levy will be on Gordo y Flaca this afternoon too i just saw the preview.

Thanks Vivi. I'm trying to feel better. I'll put up a place to post tonight but won't recap it. If someone wants to do a quick rundown that would be great. Not sure if I will have time to watch. I might just go back to bed early.

Cap'n Anne 8(:-) (Practicing for Corazon!)

Now would he continue to do really criminal acts later on. I don't know. Maybe that one time murder of Alejandro would be it though.

With Alejandro gone, Bruno would have forced his way to the Presidency. As long as everyone kowtowed to Bruno, he may have been no danger to anyone else in the family.

If he tried to bump off anyone else, it would have been Fernando. Bruno still may have slept with Katia to get revenge on Fernando.

He would have shut Raquel & Roberto off from the money. Without the money there would have been no incentive for Roberto to stick around and he might have divorced Raquel and joined Useless on the gigolo career path.

I do think with Alejandro gone, Maura would have tried to go after Bruno, since she was all about prestige and status.

Maura would have never gone after Bruno she found him very distasteful,Alex was the great love of her life no way would she have settle for Bruno period.

Otherwise when he had offered her marriage before she would have taken him up on it.Knowing Pimp Daddy E he would have spilled the beans to Maura about Bruno's involvement in Alex's death.

Anyway Bruno's plan was to marry MJ not Maura and if he succeeded in killing Alex, he would have no interest in Maura. The only reason he had offered Maura marriage is to stick it to Alex like i got your former GF as my wife now.

That's how Bruno works.

There's a another new novela starting on Telemundo in March called Donde esta Elisa it looks like a original time slot is 10:00pm.

I thought we were going to have a separate Cristina discussion.
Anyway, Willy looked adorable & so did Bruno. There was a lot more chemistry between Victoria & Fernando last night than there was on the TN.
Looks like the cast had a lot of fun. Wish I understood what they said.

There is a separate one but hasn't been tagged yet.
