Corazon Salvaje - April 26 - Tarzan vs. the toothless fireless old dragon

EPISODE 47:

* Clemencia talks with Aimee about being stuck in the bedroom as well as welcome her and Renato back home. Clemencia leaves. Aimee looks out the window - she’s searching for someone.

* Renato and Regina share a warm hug in the front entryway. She’s surprised he’s returned so soon after the wedding. He tries to tell her about his honeymoon but she’s uncomfortable. He changes the subject and tells her he has hired a new administrator. He won’t tell her the man’s name - it’s a surprise for tomorrow.

* Two ladies pass each other in the street in the dark. Tarzan wanders up to the mansion and climbs the wall like Spiderman.

* Aimee dreams about Tarzan as Renato sneaks up behind her and picks her up in his arms. She giggles like a schoolgirl. He is jealous about her daydreams. She flirts and plays innocent. He’s captivated by the mystery. She claims he is the only one she thinks and dreams about, then asks what took him so long to return to her. He explains he met with his mother then Regina, but he is there with her now. They kiss.

* Tarzan wanders into the front room and ponders where or where is the little traitor tonight? He leaps up the stairs and to the right.

* Tarzan enters a bedroom and stands at the door with knife in hand, grumbling about making the little traitor and her family pay mightly for tricking him. He lunges for the bed and destroys the mattress then goes about destroying everything else not nailed down. (Clearly it is an empty bedroom.) He smashes the long mirror in the corner then looks at his broken up reflection and mutters his “Juan del Diablo” vow to himself again.

* Aimee and Renato discuss his past dreams about the land and the workers and how he now wants to sacrifice those dreams for new ones with her. He thinks about letting Regina handle more of the ranch duties for him. Aimee acts jealous. Renato is enchanted, just like he remembers she acted as a child. They kiss. He wonders if she’s jealous. She says no.

* Tarzan has successfully left the mansion without being spotted by anyone (or waking anyone up). The narrator tells us that he won’t be reappearing there again. Tarzan mutters a promise to “Jaime”(?).

* Aimee confronts Rosie for interrupting her and Renato on their first night back from the honeymoon. Renato defends his wife and scolds Rosie for entering the bedroom without knocking and tells her that between him and his wife there are no secrets. Rosie swallows her pride, apologizes and leaves. Aimee is so very thankful that Renato defended her. They kiss.

* Rosie is crying a river in the patio hallway. Arcadio walks by - he’s in an impossible horrible mood himself. He yells his disgust over everything and everyone at the ranch. He gets no respect at all. He stops his ranting to see she’s still crying. She finally opens up and confides in him how her she is that Renato is treating her like a common servant. (Hello, you are a upper class handmaid!)

* Leona, Noel, Regina, and Rodrigo have a welcome home dinner for the newlyweds. Rodrigo proposes a toast to Renato and Aimee. Leona continues with the toasting and gives her wishful blessing for Renato and Aimee’s future family.

* Rosie continues to cry on Arcadio’s shoulder about Aimee and her lies to Renato. Arcadio reminds Rosie that Aimee is now the lady of the house. Rosie declares that title is Leona’s and only Leona’s. Arcadio scolds her and reminds her that Aimee is Renato’s wife an as such she is the new lady of the house. He leaves.

* Felipe is at the casino stage, introducing the new production for the night. Bridget is alone on stage to do the silent film saloon show.

* Rod informs Leona and the family that he isn’t hungry because Rosie served him his soup earlier in his room. Leona rolls her eyes and breaths deeply. Rod then talks with Renato and Aimee about the ranch and another investment idea for Aimee’s money.

* More from Bridget and her silent film saloon act at the casino.

* Noel argues with Rod about the investment idea and tells Aimee she doesn’t have to go along with it. Aimee says that now isn’t the time to discuss those matters and tells her dad when she needs his advice about investments, she will ask him. Rod tells her not to take too long; this investment won’t be available forever. Renato changes the subject and makes a toast, then announces to everyone that he plans on making some major changes to the operation of the ranch. Everyone’s curious. Renato will reveal the plans tomorrow. Noel congratulations his son (he is one very proud papa).

* Meanwhile in Veracruz:
Gabriel is visiting Jimena at the gypsy circus camp. Jimena is trying to get the courage to tell Gabriel the truth about her being Estrella - she remembers Juan’s advice to tell him the truth - she starts to find the words to tell Gabe everything but Auntie Griselda interrupts. Jimena gets cold feet and tells Gabe that she and Estrella are best friends and she will definitely give her the letter. Gabe is frustrated but accepts the story and leaves. Auntie G wants to know about the letter - Jimena has a cover story for her about love. Auntie G tells her that gypsies don’t fall in love - it isn’t part of the gypsy way of life.

* Man and wife discuss their regrets and frustrations over losing their daughter so many years ago. Flashback to Lady (Mariela) and daughter (Angela) at a garden party. Mariela sits down and watches Angela run off to play. Angela runs too close to the trees and bushes - Servando and Griselda snag her and kidnap her. Mariela looks around and screams for Angela. Man and wife discuss Mariela’s heartbreak over losing Angela and never finding her or seeing her again.

* The silent film saloon performance continues on the casino stage as our fearless threesome tonight (Raul, Fulgencio and Federico) sit and discuss business and gossip over drinks. Federico tells them that Regina has officially let him try and court her now. Raul is happy for him. They then discuss Juan and Sr. Aldama. Fulgencio thinks it may be good to do business with Juan - Raul doesn’t like the idea. Fulgencio doesn’t care and is willing to go for it. Raul leaves. Fulgencio and Federico wonder what his problem is with Juan.

* Rod sits in his dark bedroom - he thinks about turning on a light but doesn’t. Rosie pops up behind him on the bed and starts to seduce and make love with him. (UGH!)

* At breakfast, Renato announces to the family he has hired a new administrator. Rod and Leona are aghast. Renato then goes to the door and introduces Juan San Roman to the family as the new administrator. Rod goes ballistic - he will not tolerate this! He wants to leave the ranch for town and never return as long as Juan is there! He stomps out of the room. Leona runs after him. Noel is proud of his son’s decision. Juan excuses himself from the room. Renato turns to Regina for some support but she just stares at him, and then asks Aimee for her opinion. Aimee says she wasn’t consulted. Renato stands by his decision. Noel applauds him and supports the decision then leaves. Regina tells Renato that he is in charge so she will have to accept the decision then asks to speak with her sister in private. Renato obliges and leaves.

* Renato finds Juan in the front entry and tells Juan not to worry, he still has the position.

* In the bedroom, Rod is still miffed and starts to try to pack up. Leona fights and tries to convince him to change his mind and stay. Noel barges in and Leona and Rod separate quickly. Noel tries to convince Rod that Juan is only a hired employee to help run the ranch, that is all. Nothing has to change. Rod is firm in his beliefs and won’t change his mind about leaving or about Juan.

* Regina and Aimee argue about Renato hiring Juan at the ranch. Regina thinks Aimee should say something to Renato about it. Aimee won’t do that. Regina reminds her about all the sacrifices she’s made for Aimee and wants Aimee to now sacrifice something for her. Ha! Aimee laughs at the thought. Regina grows upset and frustrated with her sister’s holier-than-everyone-else attitude. Aimee reminds Regina that she is now married to Renato for life and the ranch is her home; if she doesn’t like it she can leave with Daddy. Regina vows never to leave and to become Aimee’s shadow and conscience and won’t stop until Aimee has Renato’s child. Just at that moment, Renato enters and asks Regina to explain what she means about being someone’s conscience. He wants to know if she is accusing his wife of something. Regina stops and thinks before coming up with a cover story to deflect suspicion. Renato accepts the cover story, and asks about her support for Juan as the administrator. Regina excuses herself and leaves. Aimee turns to Renato and tells him, ‘see! what did I tell you? my sister is so totally interested in Juan!’

* Juan stops Santa Regina in the front hallway. Regina hates that nickname. Juan tells her that he has always liked her since they first met on the ship. Regina wonders what he wants. He says to get Aimee to explain her deception scheme to him. She wonders why did he have Renato hire him as the new administrator? Juan comments. She wants him to do what he has to do and disappear.

ADVANCE: Juan on horseback riding through the finca brush, grumbling about Aimee’s flirtatious deception.

Morning everyone. This new time change thing sucks. Thanking you in advance Jody for your recap. I watched it early this morning. Juan can climb up my balcony any time. Did I say that out loud? 8:)

Thank you, Jody. :-) I probably won't get to watch the show till lunch time; be back later!

Hi Jody, I don't much like this time change either. Thanks for doing a recap, The episode was a lot of fun with Juan's new job being introduced. The room full of stunned expressions was priceless.

Thanks, Jody. :-)
The "Whuaaaan del Sandokan in the Finca" storyline at last began. I agree with Cheryl, those faces were priceless.

I can't figure out why the women are so hot for Rod. Ewwwww...

Connie: I think Liliana Abud's (the writer's) mind time-travelled back in the '80s when Rocha was a very handsome and attractive man, and wasn't able go back yet. :-) He's not a bad looking geezer, and I love his voice, but for God's sake, Rosenda, are you blind, or what?!

I agree Aribeth. Seriously...ack! He does have a cool voice. Actually he does look better than he did at the beginning. He looked ridiculous with that black wig thing he was wearing.

I heard Wm Levy was scheduled for Cuna de lobos. I hope not, I don't want to see him in Mejia basura. He did so well in Sortilegio, he deserves better, a Carla Estrada TN maybe? I also don't want Mejia to get his manos ineptos on Cuna, although I haven't seen it, it's supposed to be one of the most popular.

El guapisimo, Colunga, was on Cristina last night, muy, muy, muy caliente.

Gracias Jody, true dedication.

Variopinta:
Guess what, the newest telenovela rumors are that Mejía's going to remake Cristal, aka Estrada's El privilegio de amar (okay, it's not that new), and Estrada wants to remake Mejía's Abrazame muy fuerte. Venganzaaa? An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, a telenovela for a telenovela? :-)

This is ridiculous, there are hundreds of good scripts, old remakeable telenovelas and radionovelas out there, why do this guys always remake the relatively fresh telenovelas. But in the meantime it's intriguing. I'd like to see Bambi Noriega in an Estrada again, she could play Victoria Llorona Ruffo's role. And Brad Pitt Levy could be Colunga's character.
Or, if he and Mejía are already big pals, maybe he'll play René Stickler's character in this Cristal remake. Ewww.

Hi. I am so glad that the Corazon Salvaje post was done so I could read it during my lunch at 12:00 p.m. Eastern. I can't watch it at midnight, which is when it comes on. I get up at 5:30 a.m. I now have to read the comments first, before seeing the novela, which I will view the copied tape, when I get home from work at 8:00 tonight.
How is everyone else handling the time change in the Eastern part of the country?

Variopinta i have to agree with i hope by the time the Cunos project is on again that William has changed his mind about working with Mejia.

Variopinta weren't you the one who also said all Mejia projects need to be shown sometime around the 2am timeslot.

I have to wonder after all Mejia tried to do to generate a strong lead in for CS before it started showing over here by moving around ENDA and Gancho in favor of Hasta.
Was it his call on how CS was yanked from it's 9pm timeslot or did someone else who wasn't biased as Mejia did it instead?

I hate the time change too. Anon, I'm also up at 5:30. Midnight won't work for me. I'll keep following the recaps though. May watch some videos or try harder to get my VCR working.

Thanks, Jody for a fab recap! lol at " Renato is treating her like a common servant. (Hello, you are a upper class handmaid!)." :)

On the show they showed other foto shoots, Colunga in a tux, ay ay ay ay

anon, I couldn't wait either so I'm watching on you tube. Aribeth provided a greet one
mssarahi20

tonight is capitulo 7, & FC hasn't shown his face yet.

"Tarzan wanders up to the mansion and climbs the wall like Spiderman."

LOL
I'll have to make an illustration of this scene one day. With Spiderman mask and Tarzan/Juan from the Seas diapers. And lians and spiderwebs.

"and mutters his “Juan del Diablo” vow to himself again"

Juan's lines, again. :-)

The kidnapping of Jimena was heartbreaking, this's one of the worts nightmares of any mother.

- Juan calls Regina Santa Regina.
- Regina hates that nickname.
- Juan tells her that he has always liked her since they first met on the ship.
- He says to get Aimee to explain her deception scheme to him.
- She wants him to do what he has to do and disappear.

Summary: Juan's lines, Regina's lines, Juan's lines, Regina's lines.

However, I love this scene, like almost every single J&R moment of this circonovela. I honestly don't understand the writer and the producer. The best (and almost the only working) element of CS is the so-called main couple, their encounters are interesting, why don't they have more scenes? Since they disembarked the ship they met about four or five times. Laaaaaaame.
I like the side characters, even Rod, Fed and the gypsies, but the protagonists were the reason I kept on watching this novela through the most boring months.

"On the show they showed other foto shoots, Colunga in a tux, ay ay ay ay"

Ayyyyyyyyayyyyayyy. Hi, Fernando... :-) I love the new People photos, but less photoshop would've been better. I'm not talking about Fer's picture.

All's I'm gonna say is... WL looked HOT (surprise, surprise) and beautiful again on Cristina last night. So did Bracamontes - she really is funny, and I like that about her.

Thanks again, Jody. :-) For a moment I was baffled at Rosenda barging into the master suite and getting inconsolably upset about Renato and Aimee.

But then I realized that they were setting up a desperate situation for her, so it would seem more likely she would turn to tempting Rodrigo. And sure enough.

I loved the scene between Juan and Regina, too, Aribeth. They leave us so dramatically hungry, I'm just looking for any spark between them.

If anybody missed the screen caps I did of Juan and Regina's chance meeting at the mausoleum and wants to see, scroll down at: Corazón Salvaje Album

Why was Noel so surprised to see Leo so close to Rod? I thought he pretty much knew where she stood on that subject. Maybe it was just a shock to see it so in-your-face.

Thanks Jody! Several things I did not expect in that episode. Did not expect Rosie in Rod's bed... ew, ew, ew!... Did not expect Renato walking in on Aimee & Regina's "True Confessions" session... Did NOT expect to see Noel walking in on Leo's lip lock with Rod. Now Noel DID see that... but no anger... I have a feeling when Noel finally goes off it will make Vesuvius look tame.

Connie, I thought Noel's reaction was pretty cool; at the end of the scene he turned to Leonarda with a real frank look, though.

There was that scene at the wedding where Noel said he could see that three was a crowd and scrammed. Maybe he wishes she weren't so open about it.

I was half awake when I saw it so probably misinterpreted. I also think when he goes off it will be bad--for Leo and Rod and...

Renato strikes me as being insecure because he always seems to be checking up on Aimee. He makes me jumpy because you never know when he's going to appear.

And Aimee...she was sure petulant tonight. She doesn't really love Renato, but she wants to make sure she still has a stranglehold on him.

He can't get any work done around the finca without her pouting at him being absent.

She needs a hobby or a job. Perish the thought!

Did anyone notice besides me that when Juan tried to stab the mattress the knife wouldn't go in?

You all are so very welcome. Glad I actually caught most of the important stuff.

Aribeth - Go for it. It should be fun to draw a caricature of Juan/Tarzan climbing walls. I'd love to see your work when you're finished.

For those who are wondering -- FC, er Jose Miguel, won't appear in STUD (Soy Tu Due~a) until Episode 20.

Jody :)

Aribeth, I cannot figure out why People Magazine feels the need to ruin pictures with Photoshopping.

What is wrong with their editors that they think a Man of Plastic is hotter than the real thing? I think they should keep their fetishes to themselves and just print unadulterated eyecandy.

Aribeth you hit on a very good point why is Mejia only remaking the recent novelas i have to guess because they were very popular especially ratings wise and he believes if he keeps churning out these same stories he will get the same ratings.

This of course makes me wonder if in another eight years r so will we see a remake of FELS?

Jody, thanks for the enjoyable recap. STUD...ha ha...how appropriate for a F C novela.

Rod got lucky last night with Rosenda and her assets and with a good but short liplock with Leo. He may be pushing his luck with Rosie considering his ticker problem.

Since I don't have a DVR, i noticed there were no commercials for 25 minutes after C S started at medianoche.. I was thinking this is great but the 2nd half turned out to be chock full of commercials.

Thanks for recapping the latenight C S, recappers.

Good Afternoon everyone, Thanks Jodi for your recap. It seems every time I go away, something strange happens at Univision. These time changes maybe good for them but it sucks for their viewers.Do they even care? Why does the Dinero show have to be on for 2hrs.That is crazy.i for one like CS but staying up till 12:00 midnight is not an option for me. Youtube it is then.
Hanna, Md

Thanks, Jody. I appreciate the recap. OK...I'm going to watch this episode...if it taped correctly. I just ate dinner, so I hope I'll be able to watch Old Rod romancing the young and the old and keep my dinner down. It appears that Old Rod is an equal opportunity old lech. I hope that we'll be able to continue our fun discussions of CS despite the unfortunate switch to the midnight hour. I'd miss all your interesting and clever comments, amigas.

Jody: just got back and saw the youtube link and read your recap. What a title! Handmaid nailed it for Rosenda! What a little gold digger! All she'll probably get from him is a few coins for her trouble --ew! What a nightmare! Perfect for midnight viewing I guess!!

Jody, appreciate the recap. This midnight time is no fun. I was going to bed early tonight, but might stay up. Hate to give up watching just as Juan is in place to start something with Regina.
La Paloma

JR, Mija, thank you SO much for the lovely, wonderful, outstanding recap! Cox didn't update its lineup last night and I didn't get this at all. Thank heaven Mediacomm didn't fail you. I was soooooo ticked off I think I will contact the Cox Prez in ATL again (did that with the garbled captions, you might remember). If not for your recap, I would not have the full Ximena story. On another tema, life is busy but I think of you often.

Jeanne

Morning, everyone!
(It's unbelieveable that the episode finished only an hour ago.)

Jeri, thank you for the mausoleum screencaps!

I like the abbreviation "STUD", it suits a ranchero/FC telenovela well. :)
I used to call it STD, but I always associated at Sexually Transmitted Diseases. :D Which, in fact, suits Gaby Spanic's character well (judging from the promos).

Julia:
"I think they should keep their fetishes to themselves and just print unadulterated eyecandy."

ITA!

Anon:
"why is Mejia only remaking the recent novela"

I checked his recent telenovelas:
2000 Abrazame muy fuerte
Based on Caridad Bravo Adams's novel Pecado mortal, it was adapted in 1960 last time.

2002 Entre el amor y el odio
I think it's based on an old radionovela.

2003 Mariana de la noche
Delia Fiallo's book, last adaptation: 1988, Venezuela

2005 La esposa virgen
original

2005 La madrastra
Last version: 1981, Chile

2006 Mundo de fieras
original

2007 Fuego en la sangre
Based on Las aguas mansas (1994), last adaptation: Pasión de gavilanes (2003)

2009 Corazón salvaje
Caridad Bravo Adams, last adaptation: 1993

???: 2010 Cristal
Delia Fiallo, last one: El privilegio de amar, 1998-1999

From this list FELS and the supposed EPDA remake are the most disputable ones, the others were either originals or old enough to get remaked. But I don't like this new tendency, and if Estrada seriously wants to remake Mejía's Abrazame, while he remakes her telenovela... well, that'll be apocalyptic. :)

Edit: I was wrong, Mundo de fieras is loosely based on an 1991 venezuelan telenovela.

Aribeth --

Just to let you know, La Esposa Virgen was based on a long-lost short novel by Caridad Bravo Adams.

So I guess that shows that everything Mejia does is an adaptation of some sort.

Jody :)
