Corazon Salvaje May 6, 2010 The Nine Lives of Orca

Ep. 55

Orca is begging for his life and his job--again. How many times has he been fired anyway? It’s not his fault. He was drunk. Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard that one before. Let me guess, it’s Renato’s fault because he wasn’t there to stop you from drinking. Uh huh. He snivels and grovels like the dog he is. He talks about his “wife” and the loss of his son. Juan looks like he is softening. Renato tells him that he should have thought of that before. Amen brother! He wants him to get the hell out of Dodge. Juan asks him to wait. His actions are difficult to forget but it is not his wife’s fault and she should not be out on the street. It’s not fair to her. She is suffering the loss of her son. Leo is looking like “huh? Where is that story coming from.” But she rolls with it because she is good like that. Renato insists that he tried to kill him. Well yeah, but I repeat it is not his wife’s fault because Orca is a drunk, homicidal dumbass. Renato is not sure what to do. Leo says it is his decision. I don’t think she knows what to do either. Juan asks Renato if he knows this woman? (Good question Juan.) Stamp me stupid but wouldn’t you know if one of your long-time employees had a sick wife and lost a child? Renato says no. Juan says he knows her He tells how one night he came across her wandering with a mute woman. Leo doesn’t look happy. Juan tells how he brought her home and took care of her all through the night. When I came back I couldn’t find her. She had disappeared. Please Renato, her life is in your hands. Don’t have her thrown out on the streets. Renato says before he makes his decision he would like to see this woman. Juan would like to see her also. Arcadio and Leo look unhappy.

Rod and the sheriff are plotting to oppress the masses blah, blah, blah. FF>>

Arcadio tells the group that he needs to get his wife ready for their visit. He exits with his tail between his legs. Leo says she hopes he has some heart for Arcadio. Renato just doesn’t get the whole thing with Arcadio. He owes his life to Juan though. Leo thinks he will make the just decision. She holds his hands. How much I love you son.

Meanwhile, down in the dungeon, Orca is yanking Mirta around and screaming at her that she needs to get the place cleaned up right away. And they better keep their mouths shut or he’ll kill them both.

Renato and Juan are still discussing Orca and his wife. Renato has some stuff to do first. He wants to see his wife. She is like a little girl. No, she’s like a snot-nosed spoiled brat. It will only be a minute. Juan reflects on what Renato says and gets angry and breaks the vase of flowers. Regina enters and wants to know what the heck that is all about. She’s not happy that he just goes around breaking things. It’s all her sister’s fault. She wants to look at his hand. For a big guy he sure acts like a girlie-man sometimes. She grabs him by his arm and drags him behind her.

Renato is up in their room and Aimee is giving him a neck rub. She thinks he works too much. Whiner. It will be a long time before I see you so just go. Abandon me. Renato isn’t falling for it. What a terrible word. He promises that he will be back as soon as possible. He says when I get back maybe we can have a little action. Uh no. She’s furious and she is very bored. Just go. Are you going with the new administrator? Renato says no. He’s got other things to do. They get all smoochie face, FF>> All she can think about is Juan. He will come back to my arms.

Regina drags Juan into the tack room. He yells. He runs around straightening things up. Regina watches him thoughtfully. And who wouldn’t? She tells him to calm down. He rants and raves. She asks him why he always thinks of Aimee. She looks disgusted with him. She doesn’t understand why he hates the Montes de Oca. He doesn’t have to tell her his motives. She feels compassion for him. He says you don’t have to feel compassion. She says she doesn’t understand his motives for his vengence. He doesn’t need her compassion. She tries to get him to listen to her and good luck with that. She tells him he has more dignity and is more noble. Just forget it. Just forget the whole thing. See, you don’t understand. Your sister said she would be mine. Only mine. Renato had nothing to do with it. Renato, Renato, Renato. Juan makes his scrunchy face. She said she loved me. She tricked me. She grabs his hand and he winces--wuss. She’s trying to look at the cut.

Leo gives Orca a bottle of her special sleepy time tea potion. Only one drop for sleeping. That way she will be asleep when Juan and Renato come to see her. Be careful.

Regina wants to know what happened. Juan says nothing important. I was only working. Forget it. No. Let me look at it. She grabs his hand again. He makes a Ewwww face. You surely need a good woman. (Anyone particular in mind?) She says she is convinced that her sister is not worth the trouble (no vale la pena). Renato walks past the door and witnesses the scene. He stops to listen. Juan says that for sure there are lots of women in the world. Regina agrees. Juan smiles that smile of his. He wishes he could find one like Regina. Renato has a funny look on his face. Juan leaves.

MdR is sitting in her cell. Orca comes in with a basket of stuff. He wants Mirta to change and get MdR dressed. MdR remembers all the dresses she used to have. Now she has nothing. Everything is gone.

Leo is thinking to herself that they are running a big risk letting Renato see MdR. She is trying to figure out what to do. There is a knock on the door. It’s Rosenda Leo needs her for something. She has a very delicate situation and needs her help. Listen to what we are going to do. We don’t get to hear the Plan.

Arcadio walks into MdR room and there is a bed, food, water, everything. He doesn’t like it very much. In fact he’s kind of freaked out. He eats an apple.

MdR is spinning around the room with her dress. She is very happy. She thinks Rod is helping them. She remembers Juan dD and how much she loved him. She didn’t care whether he was a fisherman. She loves him and that is all that matters. He asks her to marry him. She is very happy. FF>> She cries. Where is my son?

Juan is thinking over his and Aimee’s last meeting. She wants him to kill her. He wants her to just go away already. He gets up and has a small tantrum.

Noel and Gabe are meeting. He hands Gabe some papers. Gabe thinks he has done a great job. Juan is now the administrator at Finca del Mar (duh you live there.) Gabe says yes. Noel says that he believes that Juan is doing a bang-up job at the Finca and has his admiration. Gabe is happy to hear that. My son Renato thinks he’s THE MAN and they are both doing a great job as administrators. Gabe thinks it is strange that Juan is having so much trouble with Don Rod. Noel thinks it is strange too. His son Renato really thinks he’s great and he’s sure they will become great friends. Noel thinks he and Gabe have a lot in common.

Rosenda encounters Renato as he is about to go see his mom. She tells him that Leo left strict orders that she was not to be disturbed. Renato is upset and wants to know what is the problem. Oh, she’s not supposed to say anything to anybody but she thinks Renato should know. She suffered an attack. Renato looks upset and hisses why didn’t she get the doc already? Leo didn’t want a doc. She’s upset about the new administrator.

Juan and Gabe are meeting. He’s still whining about his hand. He thinks Noel is a great notario. Juan says now “young man in love” what do you want to ask Juan del Diablo (?). Gabe starts to ask questions and Juan gives him THE LOOK. Which isn’t quite as effective as the MOM LOOK which can strike fear and submission into the hearts of children everywhere. You moms know what I’m talking about. Ok, ok, no more questions. He tells him that Noel thinks he’s doing a great job as the administrator. For real, dude? Yes. He thinks you and Renato make a good team. Without a doubt Renato and I will be good friends. Unfortunately we were separated when we were children. He looks sad.

Regina is confronting Celestina with the fact that she knows more about Juan than she’s telling. Duh! That’s one of the top 10 of the TN Rule Book. Why don’t you tell me? I can’t speak about it. You have to understand. I know a few things about this man. First, he thinks highly of my godfather Noel. The second, his name is not Juan del Diablo. It is Juan de Dios. Dramatic music. Nana looks uncomfortable. Who told you this? Curly told me this. He said that is Juan’s real name. Nana looks to the Virgincita for help. Good luck with that.

Aimee is in her room doing, what else, thinking about Juan. She convinces herself that Juan will come back to her--only her. She chews on a rose and remembers her times with Juan.

Juan tells Gabe that this afternoon he is going to see the sick woman who stayed with us. Remember? Gabe thinks about it and oh yes, I remember. How did you find her? She is the wife of Arcadio at Finca Del Mar. It’s a big mystery. Do you think she will talk to me? Gabe thinks you can’t really count on what she says. She has many problems. They talk some more about her and Gabe remembers to give him a cablegram that is very important. The wood industry sucks big time and Juan just finds it funny. We’ll lose a little money but you and I know that it won’t be a problem because of my fortune. It’s not important. All that is important is that Rodrigo MdO is in ruins. Juan can’t wait to see that damn bastard’s face when he has to work to pay his debt (?). Bwaaaah, bwaaaah!

Orca is back in the dungeon decorated by Martha Stewart fixing up some of Leo’s magical sleepy time tea. Instead of a drop he pours that puppy in there. This can’t be good. He orders MdR to lie on the bed. Mirta looks nervously on. Her rocking from side to side makes me dizzy and gives me a headache. He makes MdR drink the potion. Don’t do it, don’t do it! Too late. Mirta keeps rocking. He covers MdR’s face with the veil and she lies back down. He explains things to Mirta and threatens her like always that if she screws up they are toast.

Renato is visiting his Mami who is having a case of the vapors and is in bed. Faker! Renato is very worried. She plays it up pretty good and blames everything on Juan. She tries to make Renato feel guilty about it. He’s not really falling for it. He mentions Juan and she forgets to fake it as she rips him a new one. She goes back to being weak and helpless. She wants to rest. How about 6 ft under? Renato wants to go get doctorcito. Oh no, I don’t need a doctor. I just need to rest. Renato goes outside and Rosenda comes in. Leo motions her over to the bed. Go for the doctor. It sounds like she says she needs her support in what she tells the doctor. Then it sounds like Rosenda says got it--don’t worry. Renato goes downstairs where Juan is waiting and tells him he can’t go on the visit because his mom is sick and they need the doctor. Speaking of doctorcito, he must have gotten the tweet because he’s here jiffy quick. Renato tells Arcadio that Juan will go with him because he wants to stay and talk to the doctor. Orca is worried about Leo. Renato and the doctor leave and Orca and Juan head for the dungeon. Rosenda is tending Leo with cool rags when the doc and Renato come in. We almost have a wardrobe malfunction with Rosenda. How does she keep those things in those tops anyway? Leo acts so pitiful it makes me sick. She can’t get air. Rosenda plays it up.

Juan walks in to find MdR in bed with Mirta hovering nearby. He walks in slowly. Mirta--still rocking. Juan says good afternoon. She stirs. Do you know me? She reaches her hand to Juan. You have returned. You returned to me like you promised. I want to go with you. Please. Juan looks like he is going to cry. She says you are very far away.

Tomorrow: Juan and Aimee run into each other at the love cave, Clemencia is upset about Juan, Regina calls him by his real name.

Thank you, darling!

These early recaps are fantastic! Thanks for putting in so much work. =D

Now, the question of the night - what exactly was behind that Disgruntled Look on Renato? Was it what Regina said about Aimee? Is it that now he has reason to believe Aimee's accusations about Regina and Juan? Or is he just jealous?

Does Noel actually live at the Finca these days, or is he still staying in town and going back and forth? I can't remember.

Speaking of Noel - I think there was a commentor on a previous post that suggested maybe he'd end up going for a divorce from Leo, now that he knows her true feelings and isn't sure about his. Would that really be likely, with this being a Victorian-era novela revolving around a Catholic family? Or is this one of those places I need to adjust my tinfoil beanie a little more?

Poor MdR looked pretty rough under that veil. I was thinking maybe if she'd passed out so hard Juan couldn't wake her, he'd go running for the doctor himself - and then all sorts of delightful hell would break loose. But her being awake could be even better! Nothing like delirious mumblings to reveal a secret or three.

Speaking of doctorcito, he must have gotten the tweet

Okay. As much as I loathe Twitter and all things resembling it, the idea of the Vera-crew using it is absolutely hysterical.

Background stuff:
In Mexico these episodes had the lowest ratings, not because they were boring, on the contrary, the story is more interesting than the first months put together. But they aired around Christmas, and as far as I know episode 54 had the lowest rating of the last decade. Ewww.
From January the ratings started to rise.

I think the original director, Salvador "Las vías del amor/Sonadoras/I'm the King of Overacting" Garcini left the production around these (or next week's) episodes. He joined Soy tu duena in the midst of January, and the telenovelas usually have their scenes shot 2-3 weeks prior to airing.

That's awesome. :-)

"what exactly was behind that Disgruntled Look on Renato?"
Right answer: "now he has reason to believe Aimee's accusations about Regina and Juan"

Thanks for the recap Connie! I especially liked She wants to rest. How about 6 ft under?

Mad Marley, I don't tweet but those were hilarious! The doctor was there so lickety-split, maybe the Finca has some kind of signal lamp similar to what they use to call Batman. Or maybe somebody signals from the upper floor with a mirror?? Course they'd have to shove Aimee out of the way to get to a mirror, any mirror... Good Lord, apparently that's all Aimee does all day, admire herself in the mirror. She can't keep any romance going because no man can tear her away from...herself.

What the heck was that scream Juan gave to Regina?? I just love it when Juan stalks out the door with straw stuck to his butt. Too funny.

Connie, this was wonderful! Thank you for all of your time and effort to get this done so early. Wonderfully wry and very well written. I really enjoy your sense of humor and appreciate all of the details too.

"Snivels and grovels", "stamp me stupid" and especially "Regina watches him thoughtfully and who wouldn't" were a few of my favorites. Simply great.

Who was more annoying last night -Aimee or Leo? I wanted to scream "Shut Up" to both of them. Blech.

Orca seemed truly startled that his overmedication backfired. For once, he was rendered speechless (and mercifully sweatless) when MdR started speaking. Juan looked so vulnerable and wistful at that moment. Seeing them sense an emotional connection was touching.

Mad Marley, I agree with Aribeth in that you answered your own question about Renato's reaction to Juan and Regina. He saw their interaction and he probably assumes they are in a relationship. The jealousy may have arisen as he's sensing he is no longer the center of Regina's universe.

Xintperuvian: "She can't keep any romance going because no man can tear her away from...herself." :)

Thanks for the background Aribeth. I'm still upset about the time change, especially as it was done quietly and at the very last minute. I don't think Univision wanted another outcry similar to what happened when Gancho was moved to the afternoons.
Now, it's as though CS has been buried alive. There are no promotions at all for this any more (unless they are running during the day hours).

I really appreciate the time and effort of all the recappers to keep this going!

Diana

Oh boy, Connie! You were merciless and I just loved the snark factor in this recap! Thanks, amiga! My favorite line:
"She wants to rest. How about 6 ft under?" LOLOLOL!

Morning everybody. You guys are cracking me up. I hate that tweet thing too but how else could he have gotten there that fast?! I started to say that Renato looked jealous but I don't think that was it. At least not the only thing. As Mad Marley said I think it is a combination of things.

I totally forgot about Noel not living at the Finca--my bad!

Thanks, Connie, for the excellent recaps! I will be back. :-)

Aye caramba, y'all are just too funny! Connie, your recap was snarkarific & MMG, the tweets were delightful. Thanks for the Friday laughs, everyone!

Personally, I can find no reason why anyone would be attracted to I-Juan-A-New-Agent. This role is horrid. I think it's worse than the FELS disaster. In FELS, he was a little dim & had a childlike way of dealing with his emotions. Juan DD is rude, crude, generally nasty & way too bipolar.

So, please help, veteran TNers: do we need a few deaths to smooth the way for true love? Leo has to go (I'm sure divorce is historically inaccurate & religiously out of the question) & Aimee has to go (c'mon, we know Renato HAS to find someone better). Anvils? Pie carts? Poison? All three?

Oh, TGIF. These 5 day weeks are killing me.

Maggarita
:-D

xlntperuvian:

"Good Lord, apparently that's all Aimee does all day, admire herself in the mirror."

That's so true. She's the hybrid of the slutty porn version of The Little Mermaid and the evil queen from Snow White.

Gosh, Aimee's obsession for fans, roses and mirrors is irritating. Woman! STOP. CHEWING. YOUR. FAN! :-)

Maggarita:
"Personally, I can find no reason why anyone would be attracted to I-Juan-A-New-Agent."

Ask Abud and Mejía, they are the ones who completely screwed up this character. :-( Most telenovela galáns are jerks, but he's one of the ambivalent and frakked up guys ever.

I can love him for two reasons:
1. When he's with friends, especially with Gabe, Colibri or the fishermen, and doesn't let his lower half or his venganzaaa centre rule his brain, he's quite nice. I love the Juan/Gabe scenes very much.
2. EY's wide smile. I know, I know, just call me shallow. :-) But not everyone's enchanted by Mr. Big Old Rude Bad Boy's charms.

However, many people managed to forgive to Manuel Neurotico-Wife-Rapeio in Amor Real (Fernando's abs and sweetness), Demetrio Sorry-I-Was-Mistakenio in La mentira (Guy's charisma and sweetness) or Octavio I-Have-Trust-Issuesio in Entre el amor y el odio (César's charisma, deep voice and sweetness). (And so on.) Maybe Juanito Bipolario deserves a chance, too. :-)

I don't think Renato heard Regina talking about Aimee. I think the Disgruntled Look was because he heard Juan say one day he hoped to get a woman like Regina, and Aimee has been planting stories in Renato's head about Regina being a sneaky ho running around with Juan.

Renato told Juan a few episodes back that Regina was his ideal woman but she had changed and become more serious. I think Renato wanted Regina as a little girl, but ended up flipping over Aimee, her boobs and her little girl ways. He wanted a little girl and he got one, and it's not all it's cracked up to be.

If Renato was smart, he'd say to himself, "Self, why would Juan say to Regina he hoped to get a woman like her one day if Juan & Regina are already an item sneaking around together?"

Slowly, Renato is coming to realize he picked the wrong sister. The sister who would have loved him and only him was Regina. The sister who would have cared about Paraiso and encouraged him to work there would have been Regina. The sister who would have stood up to Rodrigo for his disrespect would have been Regina.

But Renato wanted a little girl with a big butt and a smile [/poison], so too bad for him as he watches Regina with suitor after suitor after suitor.

Aribeth: have to admit, my fave FC did nada for me in his last go-around (MEPS) as a character. Nice to look at & that was about it. EY's extensions & sometimes silly outfits are distracting me from his handsome moments so maybe that's why I'm so down on the big guy.

Thanks again for the recap, Connie. Don't worry: the broadcast episode had nine minutes of overlapping material at the front, too. Great title; Arcadio's looking pretty the worse for wear in this ep.

I guess Renato's made peace with the idea his wife is a capricious child; there are always the adorable boobs.

Really nice scenes with Juan and Regina; Mad Marley, I assume that when it shakes out, Renato will not have overheard the innocent remarks they made and instead assume they are, in fact, an item. Glad to see later that Juan is remembering things Regina told him.

Also Mad Marley, that was I who suggested Noel might get a divorce. They were rare, but not unheard of -- and Noel is an attorney -- with a well developed sense of justice. If Leonarda doesn't die, he would have to divorce her to have a new relationship. But since they look to be changing course on Lulu, it may not be necessary.

Maybe it's only the difference between the online eps and the broadcast eps, but this one seemed to be very short on new material. I did, however, very much enjoy the flashbacks with Osvaldo Rios. Those were some lovely scenes.

So lumber is depressed in the U.S., and it's only a matter of minutes until it will infect the Mexican lumber market. When Rodrigo takes a hit, that should put a major dent Rodrigo's ability to buy the sheriff's loyalty.

Yes, I thought Arcadio was pretty generous with Leonarda's potion, but in the end he only made María del Rosario drink a couple sips, so I guess it evened out.

"...How about six feet under?" LOL! Nice one. The doctor is going to out Leonarda, I think. Pablo was looking a bit askance at her before he ever opened his medical bag. "...must have gotten a tweet..." LOL. Well, he looks trim and quick, so maybe he is. Always nice to see Pablo.

Wow, that was an emotional moment they set up for María del Rosario to be expecting Juan de Díos. I felt so sorry for her and wished to goodness Juan de Díos were not dead.

Oh, I forgot to mention: Corazón Salvaje on Cristina, Monday 5/10.

http://foro.telenovela-world.com/n4/read-t.php?f=622&i=1939&t=1939#reply_1939

I can't imagine what she is going to say about the show. It's not over; at least I hope it isn't. She usually only has the cast once it's over.

I'm a Big EY fan no matter what so I'm good just as long as I get to see him in one or more of the following each episode:

1. Naked or near naked
2. On horseback
3. In the blue suit

I've been trying to think who Rodrigo reminds me of and it just popped in my head--Snidley Whiplash from the Rockey and Bullwinkle show. Anybody?

This one's for all you lurkers out there--If STUD starts before Corazon is over, how many of you would want us to keep recapping CS? This is just out of curiosity so if you want to email me offlist just click my profile my email is there.

Connie, if stud starts before CS is over, I hope you majorly awesome recappers keep up with CS. Especially since the YouTube videos don't have captions, I rely on the recaps. Can't say that I blame you if you don't have time to recap two, as I know some of you might. Don't want you sweeties to burn out.

This TN is starting to get more interesting with the possible kidnapping of Colibri, Juan and Regina starting to get chemistry, Juan knowing where MdR is (even if not who), Gabe and Jimena just millimeters from being enamorado, the Eloise/Gabe/break-in situation, Lulu and Remegio (that guy is smitten!), Renato starting to wise up, Rod's fortune slipping away. Things are heating up!

I think STUD will start in one or two, maybe three weeks.

"how many of you would want us to keep recapping CS?"

*raises hands like Hermione Granger*
I do, I do, I do! But I think it's obvious. :-)

I heard that Univision likes the new midnight ratings, so I guess there are enough people who watch the telenovela and read the recaps. Are there any blog statistics available? I don't think that the persistent viewers of CS'll magically disappear after the new show starts. (And so far Duena isn't the huge hit that people expected to be earlier.)

If someone is interested enough to stay up late for the show/record it/watch it on youtube, then won't quit following it, especially when the best part begins. (I can't emphasize enough that the story will become great - incoherent, silly, Mejía-like but great - later. :-))

+1 Gancho had less viewers but the fans loved and appreciated the recaps highly. :-)

Connie: Me! Me! Me! No, it's not Aimee :) it's only me imploring the recappers to continue if at all possible. Aribeth and others are so enthusiastic about what's to come, it would be a shame to stop now.

That said, any recapper who can't continue due to the hour (or whatever reason) is certainly understandable. I appreciate all of your time and effort.

Jeri, I have a pit in my stomach about the Cristina show. You're right - why would they put it on now when the show isn't over? I'm hoping airing it before the finale is only yet another Univision blunder and doesn't mean they're pulling the plug on the remaining episodes.

Diana

I agree with Diana, we are all obliged to the recappers for their work, and if anyone wants to quit we'll understand and won't complain.
However, if the show continues (and I think it will), I hope the recaps will continue in some form. I think Jardinera said that as an ultimate solution they could translate the short summaries from Esmas. And I guess there'll always be people who'd fill in the gaps. :-)

Also, if a recapper can't cover a night of CS after STUD starts, I'd be pretty darned happy with a place to post comments. Someone will probably explain the more complicated scenes.

Continuing recaps - yes!! I am still going to watch it, I love that it is a period show and it is not as heavy as other telenovelas. STUD looks like it's going to be another heavy one. Also, as I said before, if someone has to quit recapping I am willing to try it. I don't have a way to record but where I am it comes on at 9:00 on Univision (I have DISH and must be getting it from another time zone), so I could do it.

This is the first TN I've seen EY in and in spite of the age/hair issues, I'm smitten, he is gorgeous!

Ivy

I'm with Connie and Ivy (Jeri, I'm putting you down here too 'cause I know you're with us) - EY is drop dead handwome. That smile could melt the coldest heart...

Very nice of you to offer to recap Ivy!

Diana

Ivy, I had never seen Lalo until Destilando Amor, and (as Diana notes) I was completely fixated within about 5 minutes. I am not sure what it is about him, but we have a lot of company.

Yes he is gorgeous. I think everyone wants to continue recapping I was just getting a quick count. I don't want to miss it either. I can't watch every episode so I rely on recaps to fill in the blanks also. I plan to keep it up so don't worry. I'll recap for both if I need to.

She's the hybrid of the slutty porn version of The Little Mermaid and the evil queen from Snow White.

Aribeth, that is so true. Aimee needs her own rhyme to say as she gazes into the mirror. How about:
Mirror, Mirror,
What do ya thinka,
Who's the fairest,
At the Finca...

Beth:
"I'd be pretty darned happy with a place to post comments."

Ditto. :-)

Regarding EY:
I saw him in Yo compro esa mujer when I was a little kid. I saw him again in the same telenovela when I was 20. Sure, he was pretty, and I liked his character but I wasn't a fan. But five years later I started to watch FELS and realized that the brooding, serious guy from YCEM could be funny, idiot, childlike and smoking hot in the meantime - in spite of his age. And something clicked.

EY isn't the best actor ever, but he's charismatic, and one of the most profesional, veteran actors of Televisa. He was one of the favourite kids of Ernesto Alonso, he made two big hits in Miami, he survived the snub of Televisa and the unsuccessful years in the USA, and returned as a young, victorious hero to the Mexican telenovelas. Over 46. I raise my hat to him and to his huge luck.

Yes, after the big successes he became overconfident and he didn't realize that accepting this role would be a mistake, but you know, despite the age/overacting/bipolarity issues I enjoy his acting in CS much. I surely would've watched this telenovela anyway if someone else had played the role of Juan because I was in love with the idea of mixing CS and YCEM, but I don't mind at all that this 50 years old teenager got the role.

The casts of the Televisa telenovelas are getting older and older, and unfortunately the producers don't dare hire young actors often, and the viewers are getting tired of watching the same old faces in every show. But I can't blame the producers for using the same Colunga and Yanez all the time, they're responsible and proved themselves many times before. Sometimes they fail (CS, Pasión), but when they make success, the make enormous ones (Amor Real, MEPS, Destilando, FELS).
However, I hope in the future neither of them will accept more 30 years old roles anymore, because they'll become their own caricatures.

xlntperuvian:
That's it! :-))

I have the money,
I have the cleavage,
Despise my hubby,
But boink a savage.

Wow, Aribeth; that as an excellent read. Thanks!

He was a great drug dealer in The Punisher. Very handsome too. (of course.) I like FC too but as we said during MEPS--FC is ruggedly handsome where as EY is boyishly handsome.

I think we all agree that Leo has to die. Aimee--not so sure. While she is pretty awful I think she needs a fate that she'll have to live with the rest of her life. Kind of like when Babs set herself on fire in MEPS.

Re Aimee--either that or she will come around and she and Renato and Juan and Regina will live their lives together at the Finca happily ever after with tons of kids.

Connie, thank you very much!

I'll have to watch those Punisher movies... Thomas Jane and EY in the first one, Ray "Titus Pullo" Stevenson and much blood in the second one, yummy.

"happily ever after with tons of kids"

That hippy commune would be interesting. Four attractive people, at least four love triangles (J-A-Rn, J-Rg-Rn, Rn-A-Rg, A-J-Rg). I'm afraid the Montes de Oca men could never be sure about the parentage of their kids, and the mothers would be grateful for the lack of DNA tests. :-)

Connie, I for one am very grateful for the time and talent each recaps gives to this TN. I do hope there is a way for these recaps to continue to the bitter end.

I must have missed the 2nd Punisher movie. I'll have to check it out.

Connie, great recap. Nice to see that the CS community is holding up. I'm wondering about this Cristina appearence.

"However, many people managed to forgive to Manuel Neurotico-Wife-Rapeio in Amor Real"

Gah! Not me! I was willing break my No-Adela-novela rule because everybody kept saying how good AR was but I had the misfortune of watching the show the week of that scene, I had to stop watching it altogether since I was extremely squeaked out. And from the little I saw of that novela I liked Adolfo much, much better.

I'm not actually a big fan of FC or EY. I can hate them sometimes (CS, Esmeralda) or like them alot other times (La Verdad Oculta, Dulce Desafío, Alondra, María la del Barrio -I was young-) or feel very indiferent to them (Guadalupe, MEPS). It all depends on the novela and the character they play.

The only two novela galanes I've ever had a huge crush on were Juan Soler and Jorge Salinas but they have also been in novelas I didn't like and I didn't care to watch even if it had them (Bajo La Misma Piel, Las Vías del Amor, Mariana de la Noche, La Esposa Virgen, FELS -oh, Jorge-).

Jarocha

Jarocha, I am a big Jorge fan also. No one can do a love scene like him.

Loved the recap Connie. I think Renato was thinking of all Aimee's been telling him of Juan and Regina having a thing. He also seemed a bit jealous. Speaking of Aimee she does admire herself doesn't she. Sometimes, I expect her to say the the mirror, "Mirror Mirror on the wall who'se the fairest of them all? Why me of course with a cackle." The scene at the end was touching. Who smacked Juan's hand away when he reached out to his mother? Was it Orca or Mirta? I agree with Diana. Ever since Uni moved the show to midnight they don't do any promotion for it anymore. They don't even bother to show the next days preview. I guess they just don't care and it waiting unti Soy Tu Duena starts.

"Gah! Not me!"

Welcome to the club. When I read on forums and youtube that that was a romantic love scene I thought I'd throw up. Imho that was a rape. And I hated it. I couldn't stand Manuel and Matilde, after a while I fastforwarded their scenes and I watched the telenovela for the side characters, mainly for Mauricio Islas, Ernesto Laguardia, Mariana Levy and Helena Rojo.
I still recommend El manantial with Mauricio and Adela. I read somewhere a great description of the story: Adolfo and Matilde reincarnated as Alejandro and Alfonsina and the got another chance from fate. :-) I think Alfonsina was Adela's best character, and since EM her career is on downhill. AR and FELS had high ratings but those characters were disastrous.

"or feel very indiferent to them (Guadalupe, MEPS)"

Ehem, that rape in Guadalupe also wore out my patience. A typical Delia Fiallo storyline.

"Juan Soler and Jorge Salinas"

Come on, let me hug you! :-) I adore them, too, especially Jorge who's a great comedian. He was the best element of FELS. However, he had many awful telenovelas, indeed.
As for Juan... La otra, para siempre. And Canaveral. *sigh*

Connie, a great recap with many side-splitting comments. "...the dungeon decorated by Martha Stewart" hee.

Enjoyed Juan with Regina in the stable and with MdR in the dungeon. Leo really knows how to lay on the mother/child guilt, doesn't she?

I have just the smallest sneaking sliver of compassion for Arcadio. His life isn't easy, even if he did choose it and Leo. Talk about someone being whipped, he's it.

HotRod as Snidely Whiplash? Works for me. I used to love Rocky and Bulwinkle, especially the fractured fairy tales.

As for continuing recaps on CS, yes for me, please, please, please. If necessary (due to recapper fatigue or reassignment), the brief Esmas translations with room for comments would give us something to hold onto.

This may put your fears to rest....it is not the usual post-show cast interview you are afraid it is.

http://www.cristinaonline.com/english/show/

The show on Monday is about the latest/hottest scandals making headlines recently and among those are the rumors about affairs & feuds during the taping of CS.

Like many of you here, I also really enjoy CS and will be very disappointed if I don't get to see all of it.
