Dinero 6-8: The anvil falls.

This was an unbearable episode and I'm guessing you don't want to read about it any more than I want to write about it. It can be summarized by Marco's comment: "the worst delinquents, they don't look the part at all." That would be Marco himself and Vicki Vicki Vicki...

... who has taken to her bed, groaning, sighing, pale and languishing while anybody is watching, flipping through fashion magazines as soon as they leave. Her brothers are anguished because she's a very good cook and they are losing weight in her absence. They'd like to put her in front of the stove and shake her and see if a few gorditas might fall onto their plates...

They also want to kill Rafa but their dad points out this is likely to kill Vicki too...

Jaime continues conferring with Jesus and goes to see Vicki - he talks to Li'l Jaime in her belly, using his hands as a megaphone. VVV says the only thing he (Big Jaime) can do to save her life is to prevent Rafa from breaking up with her.

Today, the villains have it. Rafa and his mom are toast because, as planned, the papers signed by Leonor when she thought she'd won a radio prize - and the money deposited in Rafa's new bank account - convince Jorge, Rosario, and, mostly, Ale that Rafa and his mom planned to sell the house out from under its encumbrance (the debt to Ale) and then renege on the payments...

Ale is tearful and calls Frank (the supposed house-buyer), who comes and confirms the whole swindle. Then Rosario calls Marco and he comes over and rubs their faces in the delinquency of the Medina Nunez family. Jorge has trouble believing the nice Leonor, whom he met, was such a criminal, but Marco sadly replies: "Decent people like you and I, Jorge, there are just a handful of us in this world."

Ale calls Rafa and he denies except except the preposterous story about his mom winning a prize on the radio.

Everybody at Siglo wonders why there is no morning meeting. Finally Ale arrives and shows the papers to Rafa. He is perplexed.

It's all sad and pathetic.

Rafa has a meeting with Celeste later this same day; I remember her now as the girlfriend of the phone-throwing villain in a previous novela - she never got out of her bikini in that one.

Thanks Melinama, this was pretty unbearable and ugly tonight. So true that "the worst delinquents, they don't look the part at all. That would be Marco himself and Vicki..."

About the only funny parts were when Frank shook Marcos hands almost breaking them, and Rosaura describing how she washed her self that morning. Also when Jorge got frank's name right and not Marco's.

So tired of Vicky. But she does pathetic well. And poor Zetina. Not a good day to show up at Siglo.

Anvils are indeed falling and I fear many casualties.

This episode was sad, pathetic and unbearable. But ultimately it was incredibly compelling. It was a train wreck from which we cannot avert our eyes. Melinama, thank you but sorry that you brought us such unhappy happenings.

I don't agree that Ale lost faith in Rafa. You can see her desperately trying to think how this could have happened. No puede ser. It must be a mistake. I thought the acting was very good. I could feel Ale's hopes and happiness being drained, squeezed and crushed from her as her aunt and father condemned the man she loved. In addition, they drag the man she had just freed herself from back into her life. It made me so sad to see what was happening to her.

I agree there were some lighter, amusing moments in this dark episode. I laughed when Tia admonished Marco to shake Frank's hand.  And the Brothers Grimm suggestion to bring Vicky's bed down to the kitchen was a marvelous bit of self interest.

Less sad but irritating: Rafa already not doing his work and he hasn't even begun to comprehend how hard the anvil has fallen;  VVV still jacking Jaime around (though admittingly in a very diverting way).

Oh, what a shame! I miss two days and everything is going downhill. Tears and misunderstandings are looming on the horizon. Que horror.

Good morning Melinama and fellow sufferers. I took the coward's way out and sat on the front porch reading a book in the lovely Spring twilight rather than watch this.

"This was an unbearable episode and I'm guessing you don't want to read about it any more than I want to write about it." Hah! you must have seen me hiding out on my front porch Melinama! And thank you for making the recap mercifully brief. I had bad news about two friends' divorces yesterday and I didn't need Ale and Rafa's breakup to cap the evening.

Thanks for taking the suffering upon yourself, Blog Mom. Guess I got the last happy episode for a while.

Thank you Melinama for bearing with it to recap the episode! I couldn't stand to watch it and didn't. It's just painful when Ale thinks the worst of Rafa. I hope it gets better tonight.

Thanks for the recap, Melinama. One thing Ale should have done was to ask for Frank's ID. He signed everything as Mr. Vega, and he told Leonor another name, and his real name is something completely different from both.

One would think Leonor would get a chance to explain her side, and then it would be Frank's word against hers. But it probably won't even come to that. Rafa will probably have to somehow give up Ale (again) to avoid his Mom's going to jail. Sigh.

Jaime is pretty dumb for a lawyer, thinking he hears little Jaimito when Vicky's not showing one bit. But he is funny to watch.

Sorry you had such a sad recap Mel.

But I have to say that I am suprised that Ale did (when I just knew that she wouldn't) call Rafa and ask him about selling the house and then actually took the papers with her to the office to show him. Maybe this novela will be different in that even though everyone is trying to break them up they somehow manage to stay together through it all, that would be nice.

When is someone going to see through our Vicky, I think that Rafa suspects that she is faking, but what can he do???

I too hope that tonight will be much better.

Melinama, I've only been watching this the past few weeks. I was just starting to enjoy Rafa and Ale whose time together has been mercilessly brief.

I'm not surprised. This is a telenova so...Guess we'll have to relish the past for some time.

Thanks for terrific recap. Appreciate your not listing every agonizing detail. Sorry you got such a dismal episode.

Barbara, you perfectly conveyed Ale's desperation to hold onto her belief in Rafa.

Vicki's family is providing just about the only comic respite here. Ack.

Thanks, Melinama. At least the happy couple had some real bliss before all the misunderstanding began.

I agree with Barbara that Ale is a little smarter than the usual heroine in that she hasn't believed the accusations completely and is asking Rafa for an explanation. I don't think Rafa and Leonor will be able to explain what's going on with the house sale for awhile. Maybe everyone will convince Ale that Rafa's guilty and she'll conclude he's been playing her, unfortunately.

But this is a comedy, how long can this angst last.

Melinama,

As it is in real life, so it is here at Caray Caray... the Mom gets saddled with the tough job. Well, you handled it perfectly. Short, bitter, and to the point. I spent the morning trying to think of something worthwhile that you omitted... I can't think of a single thing. I suppose I should be relieved that the adolescent giddiness our smitten pair were engaging in is over for awhile. I just wanted them to dial back the sticky-sweet babbling and groping, not call the whole thing off. I'm hoping that the old screechy Vicky will reappear. She is not as interesting languishing like this. I want her pedal-to-the-metal craziness back. I also wouldn't mind seeing more of Mariachi Lady an Ramirez' redhead, Raquel.
RI predict that before all is said ans done, Marco will regret hitching his wagon to Frank, who by the way, appears to be deliciously amoral.

Carlos

Melinama- Too busy today to really comment. Thank you for the mercifully brief and thorough recap of a dismal episode. :(
