Dinero 6/29: Jorge gets lots of healthful aerobic exercise - but will he end up with the worms?

We revisit Marco and Chavez panicking in the bar. Zetina hides behind a newspaper, from which vantage point he witnesses the sloppy kisses of Carmela the Ardent.

Marco describes Ale's unwavering intention to make the hacienda her life; Chavez is ready for cyanide imagining her seeing what a wreck the two of them have made of it. His suggestion: the only way to mitigate her obsession with the hacienda is to keep her from leaving Siglo. Marco: over my dead body!

VVV phones her stuttering, hysterical baby-daddy Jaime with the news: she's no longer languishing, she's got her groove back! She demands his presence...

... and so he takes his leave of his sweety Julieta, who is somewhat suspicious to see her Jaime so pale, jumpy and incoherent ...

Jaime tells VVV: as time goes by the plan to foist this baby on Rafa is getting a bit threadbare. Vicki: no worries, just keep doing what you're doing ie nagging my true love Rafa, who's been so evasive lately, to come to me. Jamie addresses his baby directly, through Vicki's navel: "Rafa will give you a better life than I can." Vicki demands kisses.

Marino has a hissy fit when he thinks Dandy is trying to steal a customer. "Liar!" "You tried to steal my client!" "Shut up!" Ale breaks it up and then goes to see Susana, who's packing her things.

Ale cries, especially when Susana points out Rafa is sad about this departure and doesn't want her to go...

Ale to Medina: "Tomorrow Marco will bring the receipt and documents." "No way! This started between you and me, and that's how it should end. I don't trust him, but I trust you." He offers to leave the heap of cash with her sans receipt. She finally agrees to come back one more time and bring the receipt.

Ale's dad is still practicing his boxing, to the disgust of all but his addlepated white-haired cronies. Did Jorge pass out? First he dreams he fights Quintana in a big ring and knocks him out. Then he dreams (?) he's in a hospital bed getting his hands chafed. Then it turns out he's still in his living room.

Rosario, who's called Ale to come home and help with this travesty, is disgusted -- especially when Jorge boasts there's a possibility he'll come back from the fight in "wooden pajamas" (a coffin, I suppose). She says there's no money to bury him, and "Have you checked the high price of cremation lately?" Then she visits Quintana at the bar where he's rehearsing for the boxing match...

... and when she gets home she tells Ale she's decided to run off with Quintana, follow her bliss as it were, "but nothing untoward will happen ..." until they marry, of course. (It's too bad Quintana is a gold-digger, I'd like to think Rosario could secure some happiness.) Anyway, auntie wants to escape to Quintana through the window to avoid saying goodbye to her brother Jorge; this awkward idea is short-circuited when Quintana rings the doorbell like a regular person and tells Jorge, "I've come for your sister."

Thanks for the recap Melinama. With Quintana there for Rosario, Jorge just may have the heart attack he had in his dreams. They had me going. I was wondering if the fight was real, but I couldn't imagine those two getting into the 9th round.

Thanks for the recap, Melinama. I really wonder how this Rosario/Quintana relationship is going to turn out. Might Quintana have second thoughts about using Rosario? Or is he just a greedy little slime with no conscience?Only time will tell. I'd really like to see him as a reformed villain. Quintana could completely destroy Marco and Chavez if he decided to join the good guy team.

Melinama, this is great. Crisp and very funny. Vicki is back at full speed. I've been certain that she's pregnant, but then... who knows. She certainly doesn't seem to be panicked, but then, of course, she's crazy.

I think that Quintana will turn into a good guy. He doesn't want to hurt Jorge, and when Rosario showed up at the cantina, I think he realized that he could do much worse. If he turns, that bodes very ill for Marcos and Chavez.

Thanks for the recap Melinama. I'm w/Flores and Carlos in that I hope Quintana does change his ways. Poor Rosario would be crushed to find out her true love is a swine.

Thank you for the recap, Melinama!

JeffMN, I also thought the fight was real, even up to the the point where he had already woken up. Seems like Jorge is having some second thoughts about his 'lucha'. I'm worried about where the novela is going right now, I hope it doesn't stray too far from the main plot with Rafa and his money worries.

Does anyone else have a hard time watching Jaime? I always fast-forward his scenes and read about them in the recap haha.

Melinama, once again we should bow to our Caray creator and master recapper. She who can say it all, so succintly and so well. Thank you.

Eric, I actually enjoy Jaime. I'm not a big fan of physical comedy but for some reason he makes me laugh as he trips and falls or knocks his glasses off for the umpteenth time. And his personal relationship with God is a wondrous thing. I know he hasn't been the good friend he should be for Rafa, but I don't dislike him for it.

Judy, in my eyes, there are no baby substitutes, only our babies. I'm sure Kizzie is very pleased to have both you and your husband dote on her. And doesn't she deserve it?
Carlos, I've always enjoyed the pictures of Bonnie Belle. The head shots of her are beautiful. My favorite picture though is of her and Jack sitting together in ( what appears to be) contemplative togetherness. I'm sorry Bonnie Belle doesn't appear to share her father's appreciation for Vicky's craziness.

"Carmela the Ardent"....marvelous. From now on that will be her name.

"stuttering, hysterical baby Daddy"

perfect description of Jaime. ERIC, I'm like you, that Nervous Nellie thing he does gives me hives. I pull a "Bonnie Belle" and leave the room.

BARBARA.. Kizzie became a substitute for our first granddaughter, who lives 8 hours away in Charlotte. After being there for the first 2 weeks of her life, doing most of her care, I blush to admit I thought she was MY baby. My kids practically had to tear her from my arms to even change her diaper once in a while. And when my husband arrived to take me home, I looked at him like he was an executioner.

We went back for weekends a lot during the first few months because our daughter was having a very hard time adjusting to motherhood. BUT clearly she was THEIR baby. I finally got it. So when a friend asked if we would adopt a little cat from someone who had cancer, I jumped at the chance to nurture a little one again. Husband was totally against it. Now guess who is the most nuts about her (and he clearly is her favorite). Sooooo...when we're not in Charlotte, yes, Kizzie is our baby substitute. (Now for Baby Jack). Think of it as my methadone, but so it is.

Oh, and speaking of physical comedy, I loved the scene of Marino and Dandy confronting each other. When Ale stepped between them they were bumping her and each other like those Dodge'em cars.

Thanks for the recap.
Does Vicky even like Rafa as much as she does Jaime? I don't think she's pregnant and she's always demandig kisses from him. What's up with that? For once I wanted to see Jorge knocked out cold. I absolutely hate his stubborness. Rosario can choose whomever she wants. Although Quntana may not be the best man for her right now, I do think he's going to change. And Rafa still has the money floating around. I'm surprised that Ale hasn't told him to deposit that money.

btw I'm available for substitute recaps for the holiday weekend... Signing off Private 057

Thanks for the recap Melinama. I do like Jaime, but all his jumpiness makes me nervous sometimes. Please give that boy some medication. I thought it was so funny when Zetina was following Carmela and he was jumping behind those posts. I still think he is going to find out something helpful for Rafa.
Private 057, I think that money Rafa is carrying around is making all of us crazy, but I have a feeling that it will be going somewhere else instead of Ali. If he deposited it that probably couldn't happen.
I remember when I was a child, my parents sold their house when my dad was transfered to another city. When they went to the closing, the buyer had $13,000 in cash. (This was in 1959) He could not believe these people brought cash. He made them go to the bank with him and get a check. So I guess in real life some people might actually carry around cash like that.

Melinama, Thanks for the recap. I loved the cyanide remark. And "Quintana rings the bell like a regular person," funny. I too thought the fight sequence was real at first. It was a hoot.

Jumping Jack Jaimie is getting on my nerves a little too, but I still find him sort of endearing. He just got snared in Vickis web and is having a difficult time untanging himself. I wish he would just talk to Rafa!!!

Judy, did you notice they used two of our favorite words? Finiquitar and Titipuchal. I still think they both sound like vacation spots in South America.

And I will say it again. RAFA GET THEE TO A BANK!! (I thought maybe if I used "Vicki caps" he might hear me.)

Thanks again Melinama. I am looking forward to tonight!!

Finiquitar and Titipuchal...resort spots!!!! Very funny Pata. Sign me up for a tour. I'm ready.

Thanks Melinama!

I think that the laugh VVV gave us last night when Jaime left was her little way of telling us that she is not pregers.

Still another slow moving episode.

Before Rosario showed up at the bar Quintana admitted that he was in love with her to one of his friends, how sweet!

ITA that Rafa is going to do something else with the money, how else is he going to keep Ale at Siglo???

Thanks for the recap, Melinama, and I liked the title.

I agree with Private 057 that Vicky almost seems to like Jaime more than she does Rafa. But if Vicky ended up with Jaime (whether or not she's pregnant, and I also think she's not), where would that leave Julieta? That Vicky certainly is one mixed up young lady.

It's funny, but I thought Quintana admitted to his friends that he DIDN'T love Rosario. But I probably have it wrong. I agree it would be good if he reformed.

I liked how Zetina followed Carmela to the judges building. Hopefully he'll find out what her job is, and tell Rafa.

They definitely are dragging things out at this point.

Thanks for the recap! It was sort of a worthless episode. I hope Quintana has changed. I heard him say Jorge was a good guy but I missed what he said about Rosario.

I'm with Eric - Jaime is my least favorite character. I like the random drunk guy at the bar more than I like Jaime. It doesn't help that his character is throwing Rafa under the Vicky bus.

I'll be very glad when Rafa can quit carrying that money around with him. It still makes me nervous. The only way Ale can live at the hacienda is if she has that money, and I'm guessing she won't be doing that for many more episodes. So, either the money goes for the trucks or something awful happens. I'm hoping for the trucks.

Judy, I think a cat is the perfect methadone. No offense to dog lovers, but there's nothing like a warm soft purring kitty.

I agree with Hombre, Quintana did say that he wasn't in love with Rosario. He did, however, seem to hint that he is having second thoughts on his plan to scam her.

Maybe he'll be redeemed as the show progresses?

I, too, enjoyed the succinct recap Melinama!

For the first time I think Quintana might change, too. Although I heard him say he did not love Rosario so he was questioning why he should do this ridiculous thing. It did seem like he was feeling some remorse.

Jaime drives me crazy, too, he is hard to watch (maybe except for his conversations with God, which are cute). And VVV, ai yai yai, what can I say? You would think she might be showing by this time if she really were pregnant, but then I am not sure how much time has actually passed. ITA it would be surprising if they would do that to Julieta. I have wondered before if someone will end up with Pepeto - VVV, Claudia?

Judy - yes, kitties are truly wonderful. I have an incredibly funny, charming, and slightly neurotic big fluffy black cat whom I just adore.

We can definitely see the effect that the extension of the show is having- slower moving episodes. But I am still loving it as a perfect light follow-up to Mi Pecado. :) If a show is doing really well (particularly a comedy), there will always be extensions (even though they are diluting the reason why people loved it in the first place), because most of the audience has already bought in and will stay with the show to the bitter end. The networks and producers get more cash from the added ad revenue. It's a great deal for them.

Go Zetina, go! Hope he finds out some real info tonight.

Darn it! Both Susana and Dandy are remaining tight lipped keeping Ale and Rafa's secrets. But it was a really cute scene when she called him over sternly and then flirtatiously to her desk to try to get info from him. And every time she passes him, he never fails to give her an admiring look, like when she interrupted the Rafa/Pepeto/Dandy meeting.
