Dinero July 27: Actually, nothing happens.

  • Nelson's Hare Krishna band was not a hit at Susana's apartment complex. True, their repertoire is monotonous, one song. Nelson got doused (by an annoyed neighbor) and hauled off to jail by the corrupt cops - they do a cute version of the "Hare krishna" which they claim has been going on for hours, creating a scandal.

  • Glum and desperate, Rafa comes home and tells his mom he's out of work as of the end of the month. She says, "I told you so," which I think is unfair considering the jam she's gotten him into, and she rubs salt in the wound. He's desperate. She says he should have stayed at CloAuto.

He says his life's been a disaster since the accident. In a burst of eloquence, Mami says the problem is really that he's tried to reach for a life outside his social station. "Don't dream," she advises, "THIS is your life - Vicki, and this house..."

He says his new life isn't a dream, but a reality and doesn't she ever dream?" "I couldn't because the man I adored and in whom I lodged all my hopes abandoned us and I had to eke out a life for us. Then you grew up and took care of things - and that's your reality!" He thanks her for her sacrifices and admits, when questioned, that he doesn't love Vicki and does love his licenciada.

  • Vicki's hungry brothers practically break down the door, and they drag her home after she has yammered endlessly, told Rafa he'll be living with her family and working with her dad and brothers (he has a horrible daydream imagining that), and yelled at Julieta and Leonor - they better show up for their appointment to get the matching dresses for the wedding. She ignores all their requests that costs be kept down because of the debt.

I love the name "bofe," must be related to buffoon, and also "menso," does it come from the MENSA club?

  • After Vicki and the boys leave, Julieta and her mom go to bed leaving Rafa and his buddy to review. Jaime has another hysterical fit insisting that Rafa forget his licenciada and immediately marry Vicki Vicki Vicki - and in fact that he should immediately start having cositas with her. He gets so shrill Rafa has to whack him with a pillow to calm him down, and he asks suspiciously: "Why do you care so much?"

Jaime is saved by Dandy's call from jail. They go off and spring him.

  • Ale scolds her dad some more about his sweet young friend: "That Rubi doesn't exactly look like -- a nurse..."

Dad is humble but firm: "All my life I paid attention to appearances. Now, aren't I entitled to a moment of happiness?" Ale reluctantly yields, though Rosario announces (when she arrives with Quintana) that Rubi's appearance is the worst news since the embargo. Quintana stands up for his co-conspirator Rubi.

Marco arrives with an unwanted kiss for Ale's reluctant cheek. She tells them all: the religious wedding is suspended. WHAT? Because there are no religious ceremonies if there is no church wedding. Jorge and Quintana are in favor of postponing. Marco yells NO! Rosario and Ale agree with him. Decided: to have the civil ceremony now and the religious ceremony later.

Changing the subject, Marco suggests they all go to the hacienda next day and see the damage Chavez has caused. Ale points out she has to work. They will pick her up after work. Jorge wants Rubi to come.

  • Ramirez kisses the redheaded woman, one of Marino's seven discarded mothers-of-sons. She wants Ramirez to spend the night, but she hasn't told Edgar Jr. about him.

Ramirez tells her Marino doesn't care, he has a new conquest ("Poor woman!" says the redhead). Maybe, they think, it's time to tell Edgar Jr - and if Edgar Sr objects, they can threaten to tell Sandra about the seven sons.

  • At morning meeting, Ale and Rafe exchange a little tender glance.

Marino lies in wait for Beltran and bugs him some more about getting promoted after Ale and Rafe leave. Beltran brushes him off, so Marino welches on his deal with Claudia, keeping his sales commissions. He sneers at her: "You are too much of a coward to blow the whistle on me for welching. Are you going to tell everyone YOU were the snitch?"

  • Susana roundly rejects Dandy even though he crawls on her desk for forgivenness. This leaves him free to do the dirty with Carmela the Ardent - and he's willing to do it, because getting the proofs locked in her archive is the only way to convince Ale and Susana that Rafa's preposterous tale is the truth.

Zetina debriefs them all and they plan, like spies, for Dandy's mission with the "man-eating monster." Pepeto says, don't be afraid: "The dog that barks doesn't bite."

Tomorrow: looks like there will be a few sweet moments between Rafa and Ale.

Flat out amazing. Still don't know how you do it. But congrats. Another fine one in record time.

Actually felt a little sorry for Claudia tonight. And am finding Jaime almost as unbearable as Vicky. Glad we'll have some sweet moments to look forward to tomorrow. The writers are slowly starving us to death with this slowdown.

Thanks for the recap. Your title was spot on nothing really happened.
I was mad at Leonora for telling Rafa off. I mean the whole point of sacrificing your own life is so your kids have a better life right?
I hope Claudia can redeem herself with what Marino did to her. Personally I would never stab Claudia in the back.
I think that Ale will get married I mean it will just be a civil ceremony plus I don't think Ale and Marco will have "cositas" since Marco still has his little problem.
Signing off... Private 057

Thanks for the recap! Rafa's butcher shop daydream was both hilarious and terrifying. And poor Dandy didn't get Susana back and he got thrown in jail and he has to go for Carmela. He can't catch a break! When is Susana going to listen to his story? I still think she could help the guys.

Judy, I completely agree with you. Jaime is unbearable! He is being such a terrible friend to Rafa right now. I wonder when Rafa will find out about the supposed pregnancy?

Thanks for the recap Melinama. I have to agree with Judy, I don't know how you do them so quickly.

And Private 057 I wanted to slap Lenora as well. She is usally kinder but tonight, not so much.

Rafa was pretty funny when he was talking to Dandy on the phone right after Jaimie has freaked out on him and he said he had a crier on one end a screamer on the other.

I am not one of Claudias fans but did feel bad for her after Marino backed out on his word.

And that buthcher shop daydream. Whoa, Rafa is having some scary thoughts, especially with that nightmare he had before. I do agree Tracie it was pretty funny, especially when he was logging that huge chunk of meat around.

gracias for recap

Claudia is a bit of an airhead, but the look in her eyes after Marino walked away was very menacing. It was probably a mistake to cross her and Marino will regret it. I was hoping for a slap for Marino, but no doubt she will do something worse.

Thanks for another great recap Melinama. Yes, I agree that Marino may have just pushed Claudia too far. I hope she thinks of some good revenge.

Pata, I also thought the scene with Rafa, Jaime and Dandy on the phone was funny- a screamer and a crier. Poor Rafa. I was also disappointed in Leonor's "Don't Have a Dream" speech. But I understand her instinct to protect her kids from exposure to pain and disappointment. She'll come around. As will Ale's family. It was interesting that Jorge made that speech about being allowed to follow his happiness (even with young Rubi) but hasn't yet come to that conclusion about Ale and Rafa. Can't her family clearly see that Ale isn't happy with Marco? She can barely take him touching her.

Looks like we get an unexpected road trip for Rafa and Ale in the Pantera tonight. That should be fun. Will this mean that she won't join the family and Rubi for the trip to the hacienda?

Thanks for a quick recap! I didn't get to see it all, but I did see the scene with Jaime and Rafa. I really am upset with Jaime, but I had to laugh when he got all worked up in a rant until he was just squeaking. Missed the scene with Lenora - sounds like a depressing one. I think Ale's family is so smitten with Marco that they don't care how Ale feels about him. They think she will come around sooner or later. The fact that there won't be a religious ceremony certainly points to an Ale/Marco wedding that can later be easily dissolved. Not sure how Rafa gets out of his ceremony unless Jaime finally confesses.

I hate to admit it but I think you are right that there may be a civil only ceremony for Ale & Marco. How to avoid the Rafa Vickie wedding is intriguing -- but the brothers may play into it now that they have decided to sabotage the wedding in order to hold on to Vickie's cooking.

I only saw a bit of this episode so far but I, too, was distressed by Leonora's concern that Rafa was trying to live above his station. But she did get him to admit that he wouldn't be in love with Vickie even if there were no Ale -- and that he is in love with Ale.

Can't wait to see Claudia's reaction to being stiffed by Marino. He'd better watch out.

Great Job! And ur right, nothing much happened, hopefull (and we keep saying this) something will start to unfold soon. I am getting rather bored with it right now and they should give us SOMETHING to keep us hanging in there.

Jaime is on my last nerve along with VVV.

Melinama, as usual... great.

Gee, what a spoilsport Leonor has turned into. Though I think that she will ultimately be supportive, but at the moment, I'm a bit annoyed with her. She certainly has grounds for being very wary of Ale... heck, so am I.

The butcher shop nightmare... I have one Spanish word for it (same as for the Vicki nightmare):

¡Espeluznante!

During Jaime's ravings, I thought at first Jaime spilled the beans about Vicki's pregnancy, but on replay, he just thought bubbled it.

Thanks for the recap, Melinama.

After Leonor told Rafa not to dream, I was really moved by his response, where he said it's not a dream, it's a reality, and once again he said he'll never give up. He also said the same thing to the guys at Auto Siglo. His firm determination, despite so many obstacles, keeps me optimistic.

I wonder if Claudia and Rubi could ever team up? They both know how to use their feminine wiles (or "attributes"), and I could see them develop some sort of trap for Marco (or Marino).

Now there's a great thought Hombre. Claudia and Rubi teaming up. Instead of the Battle of the Bands it would be the Battle of the...... well, better stop right there. But yes, together they'd be formidable.

I have to say that I think Marino will pay hell where Claudia is concerned. If she would just switch sides and confess to Rafa (he being the more forgiving one) what she did and then tell him all the stuff that she knows that would help out a lot!

O, wouldn't that be wonderful! Claudia has all kinds of info and Ale might even believe her since Ale knows that there has been a leak from somewhere on the staff.
