Monday, August 9, 2010 - Cristina Show Discussion Header

Tonight the Cristina Show will feature the Mi Pecado cast members. I'm posting this at the request of some of us who are Mi Pecado aficionados/as so we can discuss, of course! ;-) We haven't run out of discussion topics quite yet....

Mi Pecado aficionados, I'm watching this exchange between Maite and Eugenio. It's just delightful to see what good friends they are! They went to the same acting classes and became good friends, so there were some awkward moments because of the friendship, but they worked it through like the true professionals they are and made it marvelous for us.

I just had to comment. Probably will need to watch the rest tomorrow, but the first part delighted me. And, I miss you and them!

Jeanne

I'll do a brief recap and post in a bit in the comments. It was nice to see how close Maite and Eugenio are.

The very quick recap:
Part One: Maite and Eugenio have known each other forever, since kids at school together. They are really good friends (and that came through on screen). So it was really hard at first for them to play lovers and do the kissing scenes. But they soon got over it and got the job done.

Cristina asks if Eugenio knows that Maite has a new boyfriend. Eugenio teases that no he doesn’t know about this. They are obviously really comfortable with each other. Very close to each other, holding hands, and very touchy with each other (but not in a flirty/sexual way). Cristina confirms that for both of them this was their second starring role. Cuidado con el Angel for her/Los Guapos no Van al Cielo for him. Cristina asks about working on Rebeldes together and what it was like to work with the cast. Eugenio says he came into that show a year into it, and everyone was welcoming to him. Cristina reads some super nice words Eugenio said about Maite in an interview. She is touched.

They talk about the first lovemaking scene in the lake. It took two days to film and the water was freezing. Maite was fine in the cold water but poor Eugenio was trembling throughout the whole thing.

Cristina asks what Maite’s relationship with her mom is like. Obviously not like her onscreen mom/daughter relationship. Nope. Maite and her mom are very close. She calls her mom is everything (es toda). Turns out mom likes her new boyfriend too. Turns out it Dominican Carlos de la Mota. We last saw him as Santiago (aka Curls) in MEPS. He also recently played Sabine’s crazy character’s brother in Tontas. Maite is obviously very much in the first blush of love. It’s very cute. They have known each other for a while. They dated for three months (saliendo), and have been novios for a month (not really an English equivalent other than “going steady”). She’s all smiles.

Maite talks about working with Daniela Castro (Rosario) and what an incredible actress she is, how much Maite learned from her, and they amazing scenes they got to do together. Maite also realized or was told that she is quite heavy handed when she slaps and her female castmates suffered on the other end of her slaps. She never realized since she typically has slapped guys in her other novela and it didn’t seem to bother them. But it had to be done for the realism and the scenes carried on.

In the bump before the commercial we see Francisco Gatorno (Rodrigo) and Sabine M. (Jussy) role playing their characters from the novela, hamming it up, and “Jussy” talking about how they have been married 49 long years. Very cute. And FG looks damn hot! (Go get him Sondie!) Sabine looks great too. Healthy and like she’s put on some needed weight.

Part 2: Cristina introduces Sabine speaking about her recent legal issues with the father of her children, her difficult illness that she struggled with for 7 months, and the tabloid rumors. Cristina asks about the illness first. She says she first started noticing something was wrong in March when they were filming. She was noxious, had pain and difficulty walking. Even crying was painful. Within a week of the first symptoms she progressively got so bad that she had to be hospitalized and intubated. The doctors told her she had Guillain Barre syndrome, an autoimmune disorder affecting the peripheral nervous system. She was stuck in the hospital in Mexico but needed to travel to Chiapas to film. So they drove her regularly in an ambulance to Chiapas, she got dressed and made up in bed and stayed in bed till she had to film her scenes. She would get lost easily. She would leave her house to go to the doctor and not be able to find her way back. She suffered with this for months and then one day Thalia’s mom Yolanda called her up and suggested that she might have Lyme disease. She took her to specialists in NY and it turns out that was the correct diagnosis. The treatment was expensive but effective. Now she feels whole. She feels great. It was particularly difficult during that time to not be able to lift her kids or play with them. She’s especially happy to be able to do that again. The cast of Mi Pecado was wonderful through her whole ordeal. They would get into bed with her and watch movies, tv, and eat pizza.

Cristina asked about the tabloid rumors at the time that she was cocaine addict. It was all very painful at the time to be dealing with the illness and to have the press making such accusations. She even offered to take a drug test for the media to prove she wasn’t on drugs. She gets angry about those people trying to destroy her and her family. To top it all off, she didn’t have the support of her husband. Parents (spouses) should be together for the good and the bad. Unfortunately it wasn’t that way for her. But she’s hitching up her pants and moving forward, stronger than before. (Good for her!) Cristina reads some sweet words Eugenio said about Sabine in an interview about how wonderful she is and how hard she worked and didn’t complain through her illness. They are so sweet, Sabine starts to cry. She thanks him.

The bumper shows a very fine looking Francisco in the green room with his two pretty daughters and lovely wife. They are playing around with a blond wig they put on dad and having a great time. When we return, Cristina shows a clip from her show in 1995. Francisco, along with the cast for La Dueña, looking very young and very cute. Francisco comes out singing and greeting everyone enthusiastically (those Cubans always have such big personalities). Cristina asks about his daughters who are with his wife in the audience. He has them taking Chinese (Mandarin) language lessons because he thinks it’s the language of the future. After some pressure from Cristina they recite a phrase/poem in Mandarin in unison. Cristina then also reveals that both girls also play instruments, sing and dance. It’s obvious Francisco is proud. Francisco talks about how years ago his wife decided they should buy a house in Miami and now that is their main home. Cristina asks his wife how she managed to pin down such a notorious flirt (resbaloso which means slippery but also means flirt). She talks about how she saw his heart, saw that he is a noble being (ser noble) with a big heart. Aww! He is the best father and husband and he asks so little of her in return. Francisco says he’s a lucky man. He then talks about how he gave up alcohol completely a year ago. He just felt that he was drinking a bit too much and he didn’t like it. Now he feels fantastic.

Part 3: Cristina shows a bit of the stage play he’s currently in, Doña Flores y su Marido. He looks darn good in that too. Seems he may appear nude or nearly nude in it. He says he feels very happy and very fortunate. The cast teases him about some funny Cuban accented phrase (I didn’t quite catch it but it ended with gua gua) he always said on set and that they all started saying.

Cristina then turns to Eugenio about his latest tabloid scandal. Seems some early modeling shots of his turned up in some gay magazine which sparked rumors that he’s gay. (Now I have to say that I do get that vibe from him, but who cares.) Eugenio answers maturely and honestly that he has no regrets about any photos he’s ever taken in his career as a model, and as a model you have to many times take pictures in underwear or a bathing suit. That’s part of the job. And when he took those pictures they weren’t focused specifically for the gay community. They weren’t vulgar pictures so he has nothing to be ashamed of.

Cristina turns back to Sabine again about the drug rumors and her willingness to give the media a drug test. Here dislike for the tabloid media and their willingness to destroy people’s lives without proof is evident. She’s angry about it for sure.

Cristina turns to Francisco who apparently has had many scandalous things written about him over his many years in the business. He obviously doesn’t care. He says it’s just part of the career of an actor and you just deal with it. Eugenio says that they all are lucky to have their family and close friends that know them and know the things they read aren’t true. He does say it can get you in trouble with distant relatives who read this stuff and don’t know if it’s true.

Crisitin says, well THIS isn’t a rumor- Maite’s Dominican boyfriend. She then fakes that Carlos is actually here and we see a guy walk out hidden by a big arrangement of roses in a vase. It’s not Carlos but some lucky young man who gets a kiss from Maite for delivering the flowers. The flowers are indeed from Carlos and the card says, “Te amo bonita.” The flowers are all red except for one yellow rose in the center. Their significance is that for months before they started dating he sent her this exact bouquet of red roses with one yellow rose (I missed the reason but it seemed really sweet). He sent them anonymously for months before revealing himself, but she said she just felt it was him all that time. (He moves slow, but he’s got some smooth moves that Carlos.) Maite is all smiles.

As the show wraps up we see Eugenio and Maite singing a bit of the theme song “Mi Pecado Eres Tu.” Maite loved singing with Reik. Cristina asks if she’s planning a solo album. Yes, God willing, but not right now. Cristina commends both Maite and Eugenio on their beautiful God-given voices. She thanks all her guests and that’s it. End of show.

Please feel free to add/correct anything.

Thanks for the recap Vivi. I won't get to see this until tommorrow when someone will put it on youtube so it was much appreciated.

I've seen Eugenio's pictures. Nothing bad and he is not that exposed but I could see why the rumours were flying. I don't think he should be ashamed of anything though so I'm glad to see him calm about it.

I think last year was just terrible for Sabine, first her illness and then those issues with her ex. I'm glad she has recovered and seems to continue stronger than ever.

I didn't expect Maité to speak so much about Carlos. She has always been so private about her love life. I'm glad she is happy.

Of course, Francisco has to be a great parent. I'm so jealous of his wife!

Jarocha

What a difference a year makes or maybe a male lead makes wow Maite was very comfortable with Eugenio and not stiff and non talkative like she was when she was on with William.

How old is Carlos de la Mota? Very romantic.

It's sad that the media is low like that making up stories and if i was in Sabine's shoes i would have sued them for what they are worth.I have a lot of admiration now for Sabine for her strength and courage on working on MP during her illness. Also dealing with a husband who doesn't understand the meaning during sickness and health.Sabine should put up billboards everywhere in Mexico with his face on it do not date this loser.

Vivi...Thanks sooo much for the recap. I missed some of what Sabine was saying about her illness. ITA regarding the obvioius affection between Maite and Eugenio. She is adorable and her new sweetie is a very lucky guy.

Okay, now question for anyone else...do you also get the gay vibe from Eugenio? I love him gay or straight...I find him super sexy, affectionate, and humble. I have even wondered myself though. I have seen the pics too but hey, the guy has a rockin bod :)

I looked at my clock during the time Mi Pecado usually would be recording with such a sigh today. I will certainly miss this novela.

I also loved the interview with Francisco. The flashback was a nice little gift too.

Vivi i forgot thanks for the recap for the Cristina show.

Vivi, THANK YOU!!!! You are such a doll to do that! I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to what they were saying, because I had them in acting classes together. (I was ironing clothes for this week. So, I can see I will need to pay more attention).

This is superb, to have this up here. I will watch the rest after I read the recap. Now you all know why it takes me so long to recap--I have to play parts of the episode back. And just when I thought I understood so much.....chuckle.

Jeanne

Just re-read this. Sorry for all the typos. :) Jeanne- By "kids" I meant since they were teenagers. They are very cute together.

I also noticed how comfortable Maite seemed this time compared to the CCEA Cristina show. Poor girl was in the middle of a media storm with all the gossip about her and WL at the time. She has also seemed shy in other interviews. It's obvous that sitting next to such a good friend like ES and being in love with a guy like Carlos (who I remember also has a big loving personality) made her feel very at ease and just happy. I'm happy for her.

Pictures from the show: http://www.univision.com/content/photoalbum4.jhtml?cid=2496105

Also notice that I mixed the novela names. Al Diablo con los Guapos for ES. Lol! Did make me think of making up a game of mixing the names of random novelas to see what you get...Llena de Dinero; Un Gancho a la Duena...

Thank you Vivi for the recap! It is so much harder to understand an interview-type show when you don't have the action to help explain the dialog.

I thought Maite and Eugenio were very cute. I so much prefer his blonde curls to the slicked down look.

Sabine seems a little of a spit-fire (just like her Justina character)! I'm glad she is feeling better.

What can I say about my man Francisco Gattorno? I was impactada. I am going to New York in November. Perhaps I can catch him (desnudo) in that play!

Sondie

Vivi, I didn't get to watch this so appreciated your excellent postings. You are such a talented writer, clearly conveying the warmth between Maite and Eugenio. He has been one of my favorites since Guapos, handsome, loving and sincere.

Thanks again.

Diana

Thanks Jeanne for posting a discussion spot and Thanks to Vivi for the recap. It is a lot harder to understand dialog in an interview. If I had not had captions up I wouldn't have understood anything they said. Maite and Eugenio were very cute together. I was so surprised at who her novio was. I never would have thought it. Anyway she seemed very happy. So good for her.

Sorry Sondie, your handsome man looked very happy with his beautiful wife and girls also. Maybe you should see if he has a brother.

I also admire Sabine for working even though she was so very ill. It was nice to see her looking so well.

I will miss everyone at the Mi Pecado site but maybe will see posts from everyone at Llena de Amor.

Vivi, thanks!

I thought that the yellow rose in the center represents the center of her personality, yellow or warm and sunny!

All actors came across extremely well, loving and supportive. I'm so glad they were there to embrace Sabine in her bout with Lime's Disease. She has been through so very much.

I don't get a strong gay or straight vibe from Eugenio. He just seems like a guy. Sabine seemed to indicate that the Mexican press can be quite rough on the actors, what a shame. They should just leave our MP actors alone!

I loved the a capella version of Mi Pecado by Eugenio and Maite, beautiful.

Great novela, great Christina and most of all great group of online friends to watch it with. We needed each other on this one!

I'm taking a Univision break but will be back for the remake of La Mentira, Cuando Te Enamaro.

Queridas amigas, mil besos and hasta luego!

Vivi, thanks so much for recapping this. I recorded it last night but may not get around to watching it. You did a wonderful resumé of the dialogue.

I'm going to be otherwise engaged at 7 pm but like others, feel very nostalgic for our Mi Pecado time. I WANTED to see it every night and I knew something gripping would happen every episode. A tight, beautifully constructed story. And wonderful recappers and our super sub Blu. What a group.

Vivi i got the same vibe as you did with Eugenio and i like him when his hair is darker. He looks different to me with lighter hair.I also like this Maite than the one we saw last year too.

Sandy i'll be like you i'm skipping out on the Llena de Amor novela i'll be on the STUD page but i might pop in from time to time on that page to see what's up.

JudyB. Thanks for the shoutout.

So mi amigas y amigos, hasta luego and muchos besos :)

Sandy and Blusamarai:

You both will be missed for Llena de Amor.

Blu, I will see you at the STuD site. But I will miss your crazy, fun-filled recaps.

Sandy, it has been a pleasure, my Tennessee amiga. Whenever that tn you mentioned starts, I will be there.

Sondie

Thank you so much for posting this. I too got the gay vibe but I don't care. But can someone clarify - I know I was half asleep, but at first I thought Eugenio had eyeliner and a bit of lip polish. I loved Maite, it's good to see someone so happy. I'm surprised she is doing another novela with William Levy. While I know he's adores on this site, he is not one of my favorites.

Thanks so much Vivi. I watched part of it last night and will watch the rest later. Missed the beginning, so thanks for filling it in. I agree about the gay vibe. I've gotten that from Eugenio too, especially on the premios juventud (sp?) and some other shows I've seen him on and I didn't even know about the photos. To quote Seinfeld "Not that there's anything wrong with that" but I suppose if they're marketing you as a galan, they don't want that to get out.

Rodolfo looked yummy. Very sexy.

Nellie...I also thought my love, Eugenio, had eyeliner on. Not sure what that was all about. Didn't notice the lips though...I will have to take another looksie :) Oh that will be soooo difficult :) I have always thought Eugenio and Altair Jarobo would make a wonderful couple. I know they are very close and also went to acting school together. Well, if Eugenio does play for the other team...well then, does Altair have a brother?

What a change from the Maite we saw last time she was on Cristina. This time she was almost giddy. I was surprised and maybe a bit jealous at who her new novio is...I just love him! Quite a turnabout for her to be so public about it, but maybe she feels it will make her life easier rather than the other way around. She's always getting harassed about being involved with her costars whether it's true or not, and maybe having a definite novio will let her work on a new novela with WL in peace.

Francisco Gattorno is even more handsome as himself! Who would have thought it possible? His family seems lovely.

Ok saw Cristina already, Eugenio was wearing eyeliner and something in his lips too. I've seen him wearing nail polish too sometimes but it sort of reminds me of Charlie of Lost.

Francisco's daughters were so cute. I want to learn Mandarin!

Ok, I found the bloopers!

Here's clip 1 and
clip 2.

Jarocha

Julia i was thinking the same thing too probably one of the reasons she is taking on another novela with William is because she came out public with her who she is dating. I guess she's hoping there won't be a lot of backlash like last time and Elizabeth will not be attacking her this time like she did when she starred in CCEA with William.Seeing what they did to Justina i don't think we should hold our breaths on that. I do find it interesting that now she's willing to work with William when she said last year she didn't want to work with him anymore because of the so-called rumors.Does anyone know where their novela will be filmed? Because even William who is now working on the Cunos de Lobos remake i think it's being filmed in Miami had said he's getting fed up with the Mexico tabloids himself.

Thanks Jarocha. It was nice to see the lightness and laughter as they played their lines and goofed their takes. Renata, Carmelo, Justina and Rosario seemed normal lovable happy types as they revealed their true selves. A relief to see the difference.

Maite will also be starring in one of the episodes for the new season of Mujeres Asesinas 3. William Levy will be in a episode with Belinda. Maite who was asked to star in the first season of Mujeres Asesinas accepted it at first then turned it down once she signed on to do Mi Pecado.

Nellie you asked why Maite is doing another novela with William chemistry and ratings. Mejia who is also producing that novela was falling over himself trying to get Victoria Ruffo and Maite Perroni. Univision is not dumb either when you have a afternoon novela that gets top ratings in the U.S. in one of the prime time slots of course they would want to pair those two up again. While the producers of CCEA should hide after what they did with the second half of that novela. I don't even want to imagine what Mejia will do with this production.

Just watched the bloopers. Thanks so much Jarocha. :) It's always nice to see some of actors' true personalities peeking out when they are in character. It was actually pretty maternal and caring the way Daniela cradled Maite and checked her head after she accidently crashed her into a doorframe.

ViVi, thank you so much for the recap. I watched it last night, but as someone said earlier, its hard to catch everything in an interview becuase you dont have the scene telling you some of the story.

Well like most of you, I am going thru my "Mi Pecado" withdrawls. It is 7:45pm and I am wondering where is their "pecados". Oh well, now I will have to find something else to do during dinner. I havent got bored enough to watch the new novela, I just cant get over the fat suit. Maybe once they get rid of that I will try to watch it. I hope they have a good 8pm novela coming on soon, that is actually a better time for me because I usually get a moment to stop and rest at that hour. The 7pm show alwasy stops me mid-evening-chaos

Are then any good novelas on right now?

Thank you Jarachoa for the video clips. How funny! I loved seeing Carmelos character look human in the scene with the horses. I did seem to hate him as much when he was flashing a smile and being nice. He was almost cute. (Naaah!)
