Dinero Thursday 10/7/2010 When Vivi's Away, We All Have To Play
* * * * *
Have you noticed that often the most exciting event comes at the very end? Like Milagros appearing at Ovidia's beauty salon for a makeover!? I can't wait. We've all been dying to see this ever since the drab little nun appeared on the scene.
Other events in chronological order:
@Milagros arrives at Auto Siglo looking for Ramirez and the other salespeople mischievously invite her to the hacienda party.
@Jorge brightens up after learning the hacienda is still "his" and chows down on enchiladas suizas. He also gets out of that dowdy gray robe and back into street clothes, except he's wearing his flaming red boxer shorts on the outside.
@Ovidia comes in to buy a car, looking smashing as usual. Marino tries to move in but Pepeto gets there first. Sells the car and Ovidia also gets invited to the hacienda party. Ramirez is so entranced by her assets, when introduced he says "mucho busto" instead of "musto gusto".
@A bedraggled Leonor is finally released from jail. She looks happy to see her family and Jaime. But very puzzled to see Vicky.
@Quintana finally gets over to the apartment and is miffed and mucho jealous that the Shrimp helped them move. Rosario loves the reaction. He invites her out to dance that night.
@Trapito tells the hospitality girls about the party and invites them as well. Suggests they come in "Eve's outfit" but finally concedes that they can wear bikinis.
@Carmela arrives to buy a new car, sweeping past a smitten Trapito who lowers his voice and comes on strong, to no avail.
@Celebration meal at Leonor's house. Vicky's the cook and the custodian...of Rafa. Her antenna goes up when Marian calls. She somehow knows this is "una clienta" instead of "un cliente".
@Daniel calls Chavez and tells him he wants him to remain as administrator of the hacienda. Chavez is stoked that he's put one over on Marco and still has his job.
@All of Carmela's menfolk washouts have fled for cover. She wants no part of Ramirez or Trapito so Alejandra fixes her up with Claudia. After comparing bustlines, they decide they're soul-mates. They dish about men and seal the deal for a new car. Delivery tomorrow. Ale tries to find out who bought the hacienda but Carmela says she can't remember. Maybe later. Hmmm.
@Rafa meets Marian, ostensibly to talk about closing the truck deal tomorrow. Suddenly Vicky arrives, claims her territory, gets Marian's back up and alarms Rafita. Vicky reminds him that if things don't work out, Very Bad Things Will Happen To His Mama.
@Back at the house, Julieta appears to be kissing off Jaime. Tells him she's ready to move on. He's upset.
@Doña Arcadia wants to see Dandy and Pepeto. We don't know why, but with her hidden cameras, she probably wants to know why Pepeto was under a car and Dandy was cowering under Susana's desk, hiding from the Maneater.
@Milagros appears at Ovidia's for a makeover. Lots of snotty comments from the two guys who promise to pray to San Juditas Tadeo, the Patron of Lost Causes. Ovidia is sure she can smarten up Milagros' look.
@Vicky's got Rafa in her clutches. He's tell her it won't work. She's saying it will if they can just be alone together. Like in a hotel. Then she grabs him and forces a lot of kisses on him.
And that's it folks. Lots of fun stuff and promise of more to come once the hacienda party gets underway. Who knows, maybe someone will even invite Carmela. That should heat things up!

Trapito was funny tonight. His voice change was hysterical when he was talking to Carmela and Ale wanted to know what was wrong with his throat.
Also enjoyed the Jorge scene with the red boxers on the outside. Vicky's voice at the end almost seemed normal and she sort of made sense, but still hate seeing her get her clutches back into Rafa.
Not certain what Marian is up to. Does she really have a client for Rafa? I might have missed that if she does.
Your "brief resume" covered absolutely everything. Well done.
And I do agree it will be interesting to see Milargros makeover. How ever I don't know what Ovi can do about the teeth.
So thanks again.
Tonight's episode was pretty good since Leonor finally got to see the light of day again.
So it seems like Rafa and Vicky are at it all over again. Hopefully this time around Rafa will be able to navigate the Vicky landmines a little bit better. But judging by the last scene Vicky might start breaking Rafa down.
So Chavez stabs Marco in the back by selling the hacienda AND he stays on as administrator? Something is wrong with that picture. But somehow Chavez doesn't seems all that evil. I wouldn't be surprised if Chavez stays on as administrator even after all is said and done and the Hacienda is back with Ale's family.
More thoughts in the morning.
Signing off... Private 057
Private057, looks like your Yankees are going to take the series. The Twins just can't ever beat them! Oh well, it was fun going to the game today anyway. My throat is sore from all the screaming!
Ale likely will get the information she wants from Carmela since she offered to exchange accessories for the new car in exchange for the information she is seeking. Carmela's eyes lit up.
Ovi punished Amador and Bugy for teasing Milagros by pinching their cheeks. She's both a cutie and a sweetie.
I thought it was cute when Vicki announced to Rafa, Julieta, Leonor, and Jaime that she's good at both cooking and loving.
I thought that Marian had lined up Urdiales to buy the rest of the trucks. Tonight she was talking about someone named Puentes. Is Urdiales represent Puentes? Maybe I'm just confused.
Pata and Tracie, sorry about the ballgame.
Thanks again for getting us started, Judy.
Carlos
In the scene where Claudia and Carmela are talking, Trapito is about 15 feet away blowing little kisses to Carmela. I'm not sure she could even see it because her back was turned. That gave me a giggle or two.
Though uncomfortable, I enjoyed the little Vicky-Marian showdown. Catfight!!
I think Urdiales was buying from Auto Siglo on his own and has nothing to do with Marian (except they happen to know each other). I was under the impression Marian was secretly buying these trucks herself, though I not sure who is going to represent her as the buyer.
Now, where I'm confused-- are Ale and familia moving back to the hacienda right now? I thought she told her father that they were having the party and they were living there as of this coming weekend. Did anyone else get that idea?
BTW, very clever title.
There was lots of physical comedy last night. I loved the blowing kisses of Trapito as well. In fact he was sensational at physical comedy.
Remember when he was learning over Carmela, his prodigious belly was hovering near her equally prodigous bust. Quite a picture. Frankly, she should give Trapito a chance. I think he could make her happy and even let her be on top.
As many of you have noted, Vicky was really a formidable presence in this episode. Large and in charge. It will take something really big to derail her. She certainly sent Marian packing in a hurry.
Ovidia pinching the boys' cheeks. My my Carlos, I see you didn't miss a single one of her moves. Well, clearly Ovidia should be in more scenes. She really lit up Auto Siglo while she was there. A good-hearted, hard-working bee-yu-ti-ful gal. What's not to love. Maybe Jorge needs a makeover as well.
Have a great day everybody. Drop in again later, if you think of some other favorite scenes. And we'd love to hear from the rest of the viewers as well.
Carlos...is placental encapsulation being done in Texas like it is here? Evidently it's catching on. Placental stews and smoothies not so much, but the capsules, yes. Heck, I wish I'd had that option. The fatigue after childbirth is extreme and if those suckers help, I'm all for it.
I'm still a bit confused. Maybe things will become clearer tonight. Meintras tanto, something just has to go wrong with the Medieval Guy deal. There was just too much weirdness surrounding all that. Surely the writers won't allow Marino take charge... or would they? Hmmm.
Judy, I had not even heard of placental encapsulation until now. I looked it up and found this do-it-yourself website (WARNING! Not for the squeamish out there). I've only heard this talked about, but then it's been years since I've done OB. I remember a number of cowboy-type husbands suggesting that their wives be fed the afterbirth, but just considered it another reason that husbands should wait outside the delivery room. Thanks for bringing this up. Is this a trend in Columbus?
Carlos
Between our bedbugs and our encapsulation pioneers, we're getting pretty interesting, no? It ain't just about Ohio State football anymore.
Here are a few other things that caught my eye:
Marco threatened that if Rafa goes back to Ale, Leonor can be sent right back to jail. I don't understand how this is possible. I mean, were the charges dropped, or what? Better not ask.
It was funny when Marian called, and Rafa motioned for a piece of paper and pen to write down her number. Jaime misread his body language, and passed the bread.
Daniel, while appointing Chavez administrator, asked for an inventory, which Chavez wasn't so wild about, although he was very happy to still have the job. I think Chavez is a bad guy (although funny), and will have to go to jail in the end.
I agree with those who said that Ale didn't actually say they'd live at the hacienda, just that it would be theirs.
And I think Marian is the real buyer of the trucks, although I can't really explain the roles of Urdianles and "Puentes".
I'm looking forward to the barbecue tonight!
Ditto on Marco's threats. Basically I put my fingers in my ears and say, I don't hear you, don't hear you! whenever he's on the screen.
I just about died laughing when Carmella and Claudia were comparing their "assets". Will they compare notes about Marco? What if Carmella finds out that Marco was able to satisfy Claudia but not her? Could be the end of Marco!
Also funny was my new favorite, Milagros. Can't wait to see what Ovi does in her makeover.
It will be sad when this show ends--I learned a LOT of Spanish by watching the show and reading all of your recaps. Are there any other novellas that are partly comedies? The only others I have tried watching are too dramatic--need a replacement comedy.
Pepeto.
I hope you had an opportunity to watch un Gancho al Corazón. I believe that it would have been a perfect fit for you. A DVD was just released although I ordered one, I was notified that it was back-ordered. If you didn't get a chance to watch it, you might check out a couple of the recaps to get a feel for it.
I'm glad that you've joined the discussion here.
Carlos
Gancho is a fabulous comedy. However the DVD's don't have captions. Do you need those? Otherwise, the only semi-comedy running right now is Llena de Amor at 7 pm. I don't care for it, but it has a tremendous team of recappers and Julia (Tuesdays) always includes some vocabulary.
Or, if you have recording ability, you could record Fea Mas Bella which is running from noon to 2 pm currently. It is an excellent comedy and developed a huge following on this site the first time it ran 4 or 5 years ago.
As for the complete telenovelas, these are recorded by individuals, and burned to dvd's by them. They might not really be legal to buy. They can cost over $100 for a complete show. Some places which sell these are tustelenovelasfavoritas.com and telenovelasporsiempre.com.
