La Verdad Oculta EP27 10/20/2010 - Desperately seeking Mauricio Medina

Aribeth

* A very desperate Elsa tells Asunción Juan José will be sent back to prison for 8 years if they can't prove his innocence. Oh, and he wants to sell the house. Asunción objects but Elsa says the treasure may not even exist, and they need money now to hire a lawyer for him. Asunción offers he'll search the gold round the clock but Elsa cries they have no time for that! Caramelo comforts the crying girl. Elsa asks about the elegant man who interrupted the performance of scumbag and scum bagette (thanks, Jeri). Does Asunción know who's that guy? No, unfortunately he doesn't... But wait, he mentioned a name... Mina! Mina Álvarez!

* Carlos has a nightmare, the awful memories and the face of the dead maid haunt him.

* David learns from Mario that Fausto wants to bring his daughters far from the capital. He immediately calls Gaby on phone and says they need to talk and promises he'll try to convince her father not to go. Because he loves her.

* In the AFI office Ramón and Leonardo talk about Adolfo. The old man gets very nervous every time he visits the girls in Sagitario. He's hiding something, Leo's sure about that. The strange case of those shoes also prey on the detective's mind and he orders Ramón to investigate after Yolanda Rey. Ramón asks about Gaby, how does their relationship develop? Leo gets brooding and says she doesn't care about him.

* Elsa tells Alejandra Juan José's story and that there's a man who could save him from being imprisoned again. Alejandra remembers Mina sent Mauricio Medina to JJ's house, and Elsa begs her so heartbreakingly that she finally agrees to call him on phone.

* Fausto says goodbye to the girls and leaves to find a new home in Baja California. Gabriela warns Julieta that Fausto wants them to keep his travel in secret. Julieta doesn't understand why they have to lie, or why they have to move to another city. And anyway, it's not fair, not fair, not fair!

* Alejandra calls Medina but she learns he's on an architectural conference for five days. Elsa breaks out into sobs. An idea comes to Ale's mind: if Elsa wants she can look for the phone number of the hotel where Medina stays.

* Mario calls Fausto but it's Gaby who answers the phone. He enjoys hearing the voice of his daughter, but when he learns Daddy has gone on a business trip he starts to panic. He tells Abelardo that Fausto doesn't even have a job, therefore the "business trip" is a scam, he obviosuly wants to flee! Abe advises him to manipulate Fausto - threaten him that he'll tell the whole truth, every single detail to the girls. Abe knows Mario is a good man but he has to be cruel otherwise Adolfo will win.

* Julieta, who's in "my family sucks and I hate the world" mood, tells Roberto they have to move to Baja California soon, and it's Gabriela's fault! Rob pretends to be very sad for losing "the love of his life", and tightly hugs and comforts her... Until his phone rings, and Darth Adolfo summons him to his house. Now.

* At last Alejandra and Elsa manage to talk with Medina. He's very sympahtetic, yes, he know JJ didn't hurt either of those people, and he'll gladly help him when he goes back to the capital. Elsa urges him, that'd be too late, they have to act right now. Por favor! But Medina loses his patience and hangs up the phone.

* Asunción is determined to find the treasure, so he spends the day digging in the pit. An old man in the bottom of an 8 meters deep hole and his only helpmate is a tiny, tired little girl? I don't like it.

* Cuernavaca, Morelos state, México. Medina, who's wearing nothing but a white bathrobe *Viewerville: Yesss!*, is enjoying the morning in his hotel room, when someone knocks the door. He opens it and meets a pretty, young woman, who spills all her problems on him. She's the one he talked to on phone earlier, Juan José, and the scumbags, and conditional liberty, and prison, and he's innocent, and prison, and eight years, and it's not fair, and help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope! She grabs his hands and says the police won't believe JJ because he's a nobody, but they would believe him!

* Adolfo confesses Rob he can't stand the police officer who's always lurking in Sagitario visiting the waitresses. He wants him to provoke a situation that'd make the girls quit. Rob flashes his fourteen karat smile and says it won't be necessary because they move to other city soon. Their father got fed up with the messy relationship of David and Gabriela. Dolphie's impressed. And how does he know about this? Well, he and Julieta have an understanding. Wink, wink. Adolfo is content like a cat caught a mouse and rewards his padawan with some cash.

* In the hotel room Elsa continues begging, and Medina gives in. He'll return to the capital and will help her friend.

* While Marky Marcos is playing a carefree hippie in a park, Susana is asking inconvenient question. They don't have much money left, what are they going to do now? Where are they going to sleep? Why did he buy so ugly clothes? And so on. Marcos says the could return to that house... And they could sell her shoes. What? Her uncomfortable but pretty *Viewerville: no, darling, they're fugly* shoes? Never!

* David visits Gabriela. They manage to clarify their misunderstandings, no, David doesn't date Bertha, no, there's nothing between Carlos and Gaby. However, no matter how sweet are David's word, or how many times he professes his love or hugs her, she's adamant that they'll leave the town and it'll be fine that way. They hug again, just when Leo arrives. One more broken heart. David recognizes him, he's the one who broke into his office a few days ago, isn't he? He gets very uncomfortable when he learns that the superhero cop lives next to his Gabriela.

* In JJ's house the unavoidable happens: Asunción's so tired that he can't climb the rope. Caramelo starts to panic and wants to look for help, but Asunción says nobody can know about their secret digging project! Someone knocks the door and it's Carlos. Since he says he's Elsa's friend, and anyway, he's the only adult who could help them right now, the frightened kid leads him into the kitchen and shows him the hole. Carlos tries to pull Asunción, but he isn't strong enough, so he decides to look for a ladder. While he's away the old man whispers to Caramelo that they're looking for water, only water, okay?

* At the police station JJ learns that Mario's niece, Alejandra helped Elsa to find Medina. The architect shows up and tells them he's free, the charges against him are withdrawn. By the way, does he want to sell his house? Yes, he does. Medina gives him his business card and says a very warm goodbye to Elsa.

Jeri, thanks for posting the links.

Aribeth, your title was spot on and very clever. Wonderful recap. I found myself hanging on every word. "Elegant man" was an excellent description of Medina.

I also loved your pictures, especially the one where you perfectly capture "Elsa begs her so heartbreakingly"...Elsa's love, devotion and determination should leave no doubt of her loyalty to Juan.

"The strange case of those shoes also prey on the detective's mind". And ours! Will the ring get back to Sauron? Err, I mean, the shoes get back to Adolfo? The shoes, like the ring, appear to have a mind of their own and seem to be creeping steadily "home".

Carlos is a contradiction in terms. He has enough of a conscience to feel guilty about his role in the death of the maid yet he strikes to incarcerate Juan whom he knows is innocent. It will be interesting to see who or what is the catalyst that brings him out of the dark side.

A still persistent but thankfully less intense David finally uses a somewhat softer approach.

Can't wait to read part 2!

I'm desperately seeking Mauricio Medina. He looked very nice in that white robe. :) Elsa gets an A+ for effort in tracking down the architect. And she was rewarded with a love prospect. Yay! He was definitely enchanted by her, although she didn't seem to notice. (Sorry Mina)

Great first half Aribeth. I can't wait to read the rest.

Thanks Aribeth. Loved the first half. Great job. Well it looks like we have found a nice guy for Elsa. It didn't seem like she noticed how interested he was because she is still so hung up on Juan Jose. But even so how could she not notice how great he looked in that bathrobe. This actor is very handsome when not playing a scuzball. I see a lovely couple in the making.

I want Ali and JJ to hurry up and get together. When will they see each other again?

Poor little Caramelo. She was so tired and noticed how her new dress had gotten dirty. It would be great if Elsa did adopt her and her "uncle" could just be her uncle.

Thanks for posting, Jeri!

Diana:
The shoes, like the ring, appear to have a mind of their own and seem to be creeping steadily "home".
:DDDD That's so true. The only difference is that our Telenovela Sauron wants his ring to stay in Los Angeles. :)

Vivi:
Yes, Elsa redeemed herself with the efforts she made to find Medina.

Lynda:

I want Ali and JJ to hurry up and get together. When will they see each other again?

Soon. :)

But even so how could she not notice how great he looked in that bathrobe.
I don't understand her either, he's even the same type like Juan José. Big, brown, muscular.

Medina's edible.

I guess Elsa's going to be as clueless about his interest as Juan José was about hers.

One thing's for sure: her loyalty is what sold Medina on her.

Aribeth- Thank you for the great part two. And even more for the pics (of Medina). :)

I chuckled at "Julieta, who's in "my family sucks and I hate the world" mood." Yes, she is being a true little sister right now. I am really surprised Roberto has managed to go this long without pushing things with her physically. He's really playing this one cool. Although I don't want to see Julieta get hurt, or God forbid, raped, I do want him to show her his true colors so that she dumps his slimy butt already.

Marcos has hilariously horrid tastes in clothes. At least Susana has an ugly patent leather jacket to match the ugly shoes. Can't get rid of the shoes now. Lol!

I felt Leo's heart break a little in that scene. But unlike some of our other men in this novela (I'm looking at you David), I think he will handle it like an adult and still be there to support Gabi. It's obvious that David and Gabi are gaga for each other, but the problem is not the difference in their class, as Gabi keeps mentioning. The problem is that they are both jealous hotheads, prone to fighting before listening. They both need to learn to control their impulses and then maybe they won't have a fight (or two or three) every week.

Thanks so much Aribeth!

I agree, Medina is yummy. I've worked in a couple of architectural firms and none of the architects were ever that good looking -or- quite frankly, anywhere near that masculine. I heard the phrase "celebrate the space" so much that just thinking about it now sends me into fits of giggles. ;p

I think I caught a bit of jealousy on JJ's face when he saw Medina's good-bye to Elsa.

Poor Leo. David is making it really hard to like him. He is always so rude in his jealousy.

Now, the picture is complete.

Aribeth, so many wonderful lines in the second half. I enjoyed "Adolfo is content like a cat caught a mouse and rewards his padawan with some cash" but my favorite was: " While Marky Marcos is playing a carefree hippie in a park, Susana is asking inconvenient question...Why did he buy so ugly clothes?" :)

Elsa managed to move heaven and earth to find and persuade Medina to return with her all the while exuding nothing but sweetness and light (along with a few genuine tears). No wonder Medina is captivated.

Yes, add Leo to the heartbroken pile. He really was devastated, wasn't he?

Thank you for point out that Ascuncion asked Caramelo to tell Carlos they are only looking for water. I hope that ruse works...If not, heaven only knows what he'll do to get rid of Juan the next time.

Thanks Aribeth. Simply great.

Diana

xint, I thought I saw jealosy in Juan's eyes as well but dismissed it. Now that you noted it, maybe I wasn't wrong.

Diana

Oh, yeah; Juan José was showing some kind of disdain. No doubt there. Just what was it, though?

He's not behaving well if he doesn't want her but doesn't want anybody else to have her either.

I just kind of chalked it up to recognizing someone poaching his territory.

He couldn't cop a tood with Medina, who was helping him; next best was Elsa.

Medina is also more mature than our regular boyz.

Aribeth, the title is perfect and the recap and photos are terrific as well. Jeri, thanks for the links. And I'm enjoying all the comments.

Elsa had me disappointed but she has truly redeemed herself proving she just had a slight stumble and she went over and beyond and many miles to Cuernavaca to save J J. She is so different from Marcos. Besides having better taste in clothes, she's managed to remain honest and hardworking despite being on her own. Marcos, in the other hand, didn't listen to Juan's good advice and deliberately ruined his life by joining the gangsters right before his release. I wonder if in desperation, he's planning to hit his sister up again for money or a place to stay since he squandered his money on those cheap looking clothes. And Miss Heart of Gold will have a hard time turning away the brother that saved her. And I hope he doesn't find J J as well. We know that Marcos and those ugly shoes aren't going away. Adolfo should have installed GPS in those fugly (LOL) shoes since they are tracking many uncomfortable miles.

Jeri: "He's not behaving well if he doesn't want her but doesn't want anybody else to have her either."

Yup! You nailed it...

Diana

I just checked and LVO IS on tonight (well, it's listed anyway).

Diana

As far as I can tell, LVO is back to five nights per week.

GinCa--
I don't think Marcos will approach Elsa for a place to crash. Remember, he broke out of jail and is on the run and that's the first place the policia will look for him. I'm surprised they haven't been to Elsa's already to let her know he flew the coop.

Arquitecto Medina is very gentle on the eyes.

I'm willing to give JJ a break and say that he's just sizing Medina up as to what his intentions are toward Elsa. But we shall see... it could be real jealousy.

I had to laugh at the way slimy Roberto glommed onto Adolfo's cash. It was like a hungry cat on a fish. I'm surprised Adolfo still had a hand after that grab.

I think Marcos is going a little too far with the outfits. He should be trying to blend in not stick out. I came up with a couple of aka's for Marcos: Wig Daddy, Slime Shady, Emineeww, Conned 2Na, Trash Baggy..

Thank you Aribeth! I'm loving the recap as always. That last pic of Juan José, mmm.

I really like the varying shades of grey in Carlos. Telenovelas are usually pretty predictable, so I enjoy characteres that can go either way.

Elsa was great this episode, finding Medina. I also sort of liked Alejandra's awkwardness while she helped her.

Something I like about the characterization of Ale is that, while there's no doubt she is a good and hard working person, she is real in the sense that she is a little bit snobbish just like a person with her background would usually be in real life. The same goes for David. He is a good guy and he doesn't care about Gaby's social standing, but he also has a sense of entitlement that comes from having been raised with alot of money at his disposal. I think that allows room to grow for them as characteres.

Interperuvian: I know Marcos's clothes are ugly, but I don't know if he'd stand out as much, Mexico City has all kinds of people walking around. I've seen lots of weirdness there.

Jarocha

I was thinking since the police hadn't contacted Elsa the case wasn't being logically pursued as in some novelas, where there is not much of a police presence. But this is a different kind of novel. And Piggy and Marco were involved with deaths of police officers so Elsa's place should be under surveillance. You are right.

Jarocha, I like your characterizations of Ale and David...right on.

GinCA

Aribeth, I like your staccato summaries of the dialogue: "She's the one he talked to on phone ... and the scumbags, and conditional liberty, and prison, and ... Obi-Wan Kenobi..." "Susana is asking inconvenient questions. They don't have much money left, what are they going to do now? Where are they going to sleep?..." It's just what I needed.

Thanks Aribeth for the great recap.

Thanks Jeri for the links.

I agree, JJ was acting a bit weird after Medina helped him, and I laughed at the way he grabbed Elsa's arm when she was saying goodbye to Medina, like he was jealous. That was strange.

I am also beginning to wonder, does Adolfo know that it was Roberto and Carlos that caused the death of the maid, or did he just assume it was JJ coz he was hanging over the balcony?????
