Llena de Amor #51 Wed 10/20/10 We have contact!

It must be Cathy's off week; I lost track with the missed episodes.

But we can't not discuss last night's big Big BIG happenings!

Summary:

Axel's home from the hospital; he does not seem to remember how awful Fedra is to him. He wasn't quite sure who Netty is, either, but he seems to like her. Emiliano told him Netty is very important to him.

Kristel ran away from the abortion clinic to Ilitia's house to hide from Mauricio. Mau showed up and roughed up Ilitia before she threw him out. Ilitia told Kristel she has to dump the jerk. Ilitia got an offer for a modeling job out of the country and left.

The police found blood on the gloves from Bernardo's room. Bernardo claims it's his own; he says he has some bleeding disease.

Brandon is taking some evidence from the helicopter crash to be analyzed by experts in Los Angeles. He goes to the airport, where Ilitia also is, coincidentally. Will they cross paths? Telenovela law says yes.

Lowrenzo had the household staff move the porn stash, so the police find nothing when they search the house. Tejeda tells Begoña he won't do anything more about the case until Muñeca tells him what she saw.

But the BIG news is that Emanuel found Marianela in LF's office, and after a lot of reminiscing and romantic tension, he kissed her. For a long time. Long enough for Brandon to walk in and interrupt them.

Oh, I forgot the other important issue...Emanuel seems to be kind of smart. Not about his romantic life, about which he is still entirely confused, but...

He figured out that Marianela must be looking for some kind of evidence in LF's office. She won't tell him what she's looking for, but he thinks it's something to do with his mother. Later, Gretel told him about Fedra's psychotic episode when she was yelling for Chema to save her son, and Emanuel thinks this must have to do with the guy (Jose Sevilla?; I think I'm forgetting part of his name but I can't remember right now) from the stories Bernardo told him. They also wonder about the son Fedra was talking about.

Julia, Emanuel does seem to be pretty smart. I think he is beginning to really know now how he really feels about Mari.

I just can't stand that Axel can't remember his mother and now actually likes her. Of course he is blocking out the awful thing that she did to him and we all know that eventually he will remember. I hope Fedra doesn't try something like that again with him. He seems very innocent and vulnerable right now.

What is Kristel going to do now? She has to get somebody to help her. So far I have just wanted to rip her hair out the snotty way she treats everyone, but I really felt sorry for her when Orange boy was trying to make her get that abortion.

Come on Muneca tell the cops what you know. Would love to see Low get his.

Thanks for posting this Julia.

I was really concerned when Eman sees Gretel's face and realizes their mother did this. But he seemed kind of non-plussed about it in a way that this is a normal occurrence. Did I read that wrong? I mean I know the family is dysfunctional but that was horrifying to me.

And the kiss. It was quite nice. He was contemplating it later but didn't seemed traumatized. Perhaps it hasn't sunk in yet or he's just in denial (like his Dad).

Agent Orange will hopefully get locked up by the end of this TN. He's such a menace. I hope the girls expose him for the awful person he is and get personality transplants.

I'm hoping that Marianela will realize how vulnerable Axel is and will tell the rest of the family what she knows, so they can help protect Axel from Fedra. Although, he may actually be in less danger now. She probably won't be trying to intimidate him if she thinks he can't remember what she's done and can't tattle on her, and he's now old enough that he should be able to identify and not tolerate seriously abusive behavior even if she does try something again. Not sure how her thinking he's gay and her intolerance of that might play into things...maybe she'll hope he's forgotten that, too, and she'll try to reprogram him into hooking up with girls? Who knows? His recovery will be interesting.

I like it when characters aren't entirely good or evil. Kristel is so vile, but I too really felt sorry for her. She was so afraid, and Agent Orange was so awful to her.

As long as we're on this big kissing streak, I wonder if Ilitia will change her mind about Brandon again when they're away from town, especially since she's so mad at Emanuel. Because you know they're going to see each other; they can't not.

I officially joined the Ilitia fan club after she kneed Orange Boy. She did a great job of defending poor Kristel (can't believe I said those last two words)and I'm looking forward to sparks flying between her and Brandon. Let's hope they're seat mates. Yahhhh!

Thanks for the quick and dirty summary Julia. There was no denying the intention of that kiss Eman and Mari shared. That was no short peck that could later be dismissed.

I was also disturbed that seeing the results of his mother smacking his little sister around seemed more of an everyday occurance than a shock to Eman. This family is royally screwed up! Labotomized Axel seems so sweet and eager to please. Please don't let Fedra take advantage of that!

Thank you for the recap. I had already forgotten parts of it and enjoyed the reminders.

Judy, I'm with you on Ilitia. Spoiled brat that she is, she gave Orangey a boot where it counted. I'm guessing that Brandon and Ilitia will find ways to make use of their time together.

Hard to imagine feeling sorry for Kristal, but the actress plays the part so well, I really wanted to punch Orangey for her myself! The actress always seems to be enjoying her part - up until last night. No humor there...

Axel, you only have one more night of amnesia before Ferro's recap - make it count!

Thank you so much Julia!!! Now we can dish about last night’s show, yum.

The big news for me was that Chemo and the captain are one in the same, and that Fedra was in love with him. She also told Bernardo not to mention her son, so is it a different son than Emanuel? It just has to be Emanuel, so it will turn out that he and Marianela aren’t really cousins,, won't it? I was surprised when she said that.

Also, Bernardo got all fired up talking about how he served his captain and it made me wonder if the reason he does so much for Fedra is that he likes being a super-competent servant to someone. It’s certainly mystifying that he will do anything for her while tolerating her abuse. If he were in love with her, that would be understandable, but apparently he isn’t.

I loved his Vitamin K alibi. A smart villain is very satisfying. But where did he get the doctor’s note?

I know Marianela’s father is supposed to have been a fabulous, decent man, but he’s played by the guy who was such an S.O.B. in La Fea Mas Bella that I get some pleasure out of seeing him kneed and chucked over the balcony rail by Fedra.

Ilitia should have taken Kristal with her. Kristal has no protection at all now, since she can’t tell anybody else her secret.

I couldn’t believe that Lorenzo got off the hook last night. Drat!

And I couldn’t believe how Axel was so starry-eyed around his mother. Blech, what a turn of events.

Thanks for posting this Julia. I was distracted by some phone calls last night so this filled in a couple of blanks for me. One small but fairly significant detail. I believe Fidel and Flora moved the porn videos to the bodega of one of Fidel's relatives, on their own, to protect Muñeca. Lorenzo thought he was sunk when the cops decided to search the shed and was surprised when the porn was gone. Later Fidel was afraid that he would be fired for moving the contraband but instead Lo hugged him and offered him a raise. Like I said, I was distracted but I think I remember this correctly.

I'm weary of Orangeboy and hope he gets his sooner rather than later.

So people with vit. K deficiencies can't commit crimes or get shot? ¡Por favor! Another Brandon blunder.

Carlos

Oh, I think you're right, Carlos. I was slightly distracted myself when Fidel and Flora were moving the stuff.

Right, and if you did have a vitamin K problem, that still doesn't explain why he was wearing gloves or why he hid them under his mattress.

I wonder if Ilitia might tell anyone that Mau tried to rape her, now that Kristel is disillusioned about him.

Thank you Julia, for the recap! You hit all the main points! Yes, it looks like Emanuel is starting to connect some dots. And based on tonight's avances, he isn't trying to deny what's going on with Marianela anymore. (But give him time! I have faith in his cluelessness when it comes to his love life. LOL.)

Interesting development with Fedra and the Captain. And yeah, I really think the son she talks about is Emanuel.

Weird with Axel looking cozy with mom! I wonder how long this will last?

Yes, I too felt that twinge of sympathy for Kristal. KRISTAL! But what Orange Boy was trying to do was heinous. Good for Ilitia for sticking up for her.

Oh yes. We know it's inevitable that Our Favorite Naco, Brandon, and Our Favorite Spoiled Princess will encounter each other in their travels! Should be interesting!

I like that what's keeping Emanuel from ditching Ilitia and going for Marianela full-tilt isn't the doltishness often seen in telenovela galáns, but two very real issues:

One is that Marianela is his cousin (as far as they know), and although it isn't illegal their family doesn't approve of cousin-lovin'. Mari doesn't seem to think this is too much of an issue and Emanuel is gradually beginning to find it less important than his feelings for Mari, but it's a real obstacle to overcome.

The second issue is that Emanuel takes pride in being a man of honor, and he told Ilitia he would marry her. He doesn't want to go back on his word. He almost had an out there when Ilitia dumped HIM for being honest, but now Lowrenzo is bullying him into sticking with Ilitia so he doesn't think he's free and clear yet. He doesn't know how serious Ilitia is about ending things, and really who can tell, they get together and break up so often. Emanuel has told Ilitia before that he wouldn't marry her after all, but then she was all suicical and he PROMISED and they picked a day and everything so I guess in his mind that makes it more final and he can't just change his mind.

I agree, the whole "es mi PRIMA" thing has dragged things out for Emanuel in a more believable way. It is amusing to see him almost-kiss her . . . how many times is it now? and not figure out that this signifies something! And now that he actually full-on kissed her—not something that can be passed off as a cousinly kiss, he is STILL thinking, "What does this mean?"

I went back and reviewed what I missed. Loved it when Fedra slapped Bernie's bad leg, but more importantly, he called her Juana Felipa. Has it been mentioned here before that that is her real name?

Carlos

Oh, thanks, Carlos, I knew there was something else I was forgetting regarding Fedra.

My daughter, son and I watch this telenovela, LLena De Amor, faithfuly in Arlington, VA. We all speak Spanish but conference after each episode to rehash what just transpired - usually not much. It's a love hate relationship with the show: we love it but hate ourselves for watching such a campy plot. Anyway, thank you so much for doing the translations on Caray Caray. I lived three years in Argentina but the Mexican is a little tricky for me but my son married an Argentine and is very conversant.

Thanks again,

Norman in Washington, DC

Welcome, Norman! I'm glad you're enjoying the recaps. Yes, this show is silly, but there are worse vices, right?

Julia, thank you! You're a treasure for doing this recap. I loved last night's episode then had to stay up late doing a presentation for work today. I just knew it would be a good one.

Axel is seeming very child-like to me. I had this thought that maybe he has memory up to his traumatic experience but cannot remember after that. So in effect he's like a 12 yr. old.

I felt sorry for Kristel too. I'm worried about her now that Ilitia left. I can't imagine she's safe anywhere as it seems Orangey happily sneaks in and out of her house as he pleases.

The background on Fedra is very interesting. I love how they keep feeding us little tidbits of this odious woman's background.

Finally a REAL KISS!

Great theory Sylvia! Perhaps we are dealing with a 12 year Axel here, prior to the prostitute incident. That would explain a lot.
