Llena de Amor #52 Thu 10/21/10 Mari steps on a few toes and Oliver gets a taste of his favorite candy

Next week I will be out of town and not able to recap, can anyone fill in or post a header for me?

Kristel walks Ilitia to the airport gate. I never noticed before but she’s kind of pigeon-toed.

I think Tia Carlota plans to go back to Spain and she has invited Netty to stay for dinner because “she’s a great lady just like her sister Eva”. Is Marianela going to Spain with her? It kind of sounds like it. Fedra snarls and Axel sits next to her looking blissed out. He doesn’t understand Fedra and Netty’s insults and Netty explains they like to talk in irony. Emiliano convinces Netty to stay of course, and Delicious announces that dinner is served.

Eman corners Mari and tells her they have to talk about the kiss whether she likes it or not. He says it was his fault and he won’t repeat it. They both keep saying they will never let it happen again as they move in for another kiss. Fedra catches them and he pretends to remove something from Mari’s eye. Fedra scowls.

Brandon is at the airport reading a magazine article about guess who? He recalls the night he kissed her. (Brandon, you need to take kissing lessons from Emiliano!) Ilitia walks in, sits down behind him, and spies him reading about her. “Excuse me” she says sweetly, obviously not recognizing him, “may I look at your magazine?” “TU?!??! AQUI?!?!?” they shout in unison.

As Ilitia and Brandon bicker they discover they are on the same flight to L.A. What a surprise!

Nereida brings Spiderus/Bernardo his dinner and sexily accuses him of trying to kill the fatty. (I can’t believe I just wrote that.) He tells her to butt out for her own sake and she thought bubbles “I know it was you. The one with the knowledge is the one with the power and this is just what I was looking for.”

Brandon phones Gretel and calls her his little pickled/salty/sweet fruit candy (caramelita de chamoy) . He’s dying to see his little spicy cherry (ceresita enchilada). This makes her smile. She’s worried for him but he tells her he’s a warrier. She knows where to find him and he’ll be waiting for her call.

Axel visits Gretel in her room and they share a warm and happy hug.

Muñeca thanks Fidel and Flora for hiding the pirated films. They think Lowrenzo should go to the police. He enters and hisses to Fidel he’d better not tell anyone or he’ll kill him. Muneca sez “everyday I know you less and less”. She tells him living with him is a nightmare. She’s just figuring this out?

Gretel is flummoxed when Axel tells her how great his mama is treating him. She wonders to herself, has he forgotten everything their mother has done to them?

Oh God help us, it’s another meal at the toxic table. I hope Fedra didn’t cook dinner. They comment that Kristel has been gone all day. They blather a bit about that Fonseca (Orangey) and Kristel. Tia changes the subject to say how awesome Netty is and she has Tia’s permission to visit Mari any time. She’s a part of the family. Emiliano smiles and Fedra says no way will Netty set a foot in her house.
OK, it definitely sounds like Mari is going to Spain with her.

The Mafiosi show up at the puerta de Porta Lopez to threaten Muñeca, Flora and Fidel. They want their merchandise. Muñeca tells them Lowrenzo is not at home.

Emiliano and Fedra argue about Netty. Fedra’s a total bitch but Axel sticks up for her and tells daddy not to yell at mommy. May I have permission to skip this scene? They are all too mean. Oh wait, Carlota tells Fedra she’s acting like white trash (well, “without class” is what she said). I liked that part.

Fedra accuses Emil of defending his lover. Gretel jumps up and Emil sees the bruise on her face. Gretel says ask your wife who did this to me. Tia and Emil walk Fedra out of the room but Fedra tells them Gretel is lying. She says yesterday Gretel was having a crazy fit and she assaulted Fedra boo hoo. Tia says her niece’s suffering is all her fault. (Why?)

Everyone has left the table except Mari, Netty and Gretel. Gretel tells them that Fedra is a monster and worse than either of them knows. Come one, enough with the veiled references. Spill your guts why dontcha? Gretel gets up as if in a trance and repeats "she's worse" to herself as she leaves the table. Netty begs Mari to leave with her, these nuts are going to kill her. Mari refuses so Netty gives her a bottle of pepper spray, demonstrating how to use it with gusto. She says spray all over, tch tch tch tch tch and then scream like crazy.

Lowrenzo shouts at the Mafiosi for threatening his family so the one guy knees him in the nuts. Can’t say I’m sorry. The other guy says their merchandise had better be in the warehouse or else because The Boss doesn’t like to play games.

Emiliano insists on driving Netty home. He can’t run out of there fast enough. Fedra slithers up behind Mari and grabs her. Mari shakes her off and tells Fedra to bugger off, she doesn’t deserve the love of her kids much less her uncle Emil. Fedra starts insulting Mari and gets a huge stomp on the foot for her troubles. Ouch! She looks shocked and starts strangling Mari and is rewarded with another big stomp on her other foot. This is cool! She starts yowling, hopping around on one foot and holding her other. (Very limber, I’m impressed.) Eman enters and Mari tells him his mother tried to strangle her.

Well well, looks like Gretel has rendezvoused with Oliver. He slaps himself on the face, he can’t believe his little luck. She calls him her love and says she only wants to be with him. “I love you and I’m lost in your love” he coos, kissing her tenderly. Wow, these two are hot tonight.

Fedra’s sitting on the stairs kissing her toes (see, didn’t I say she was limber?) while Eman consoles Mari. (NOT his mother, hah!) He demands to know why Fedra strangled Mari. Fedra denies it but Eman doesn’t believe her. Mari starts to faint and Eman tries to support her, buckling under her weight, but it’s kind of cute.

Kristel runs into the house and almost runs into Nereida who teases her about being pregnant. Something tells me Nereida may not last long with all her insinuations and blackmail. Nereida leaves and Orangey sneaks up behind Kristel and grabs her. Drat!

Oh thank you telenovela gods. Gretel and Oliver are happily making out and telling each other ‘I love you’. The romantic music plays and he removes his shirt. Are they? Will they? Oh my…

Eman wants to make Mari feel better by making her a double hamburger. She tells him her head hurts. They stare at each other and Eman apologizes for…sorry the background music was too loud…and he moves in for a long kiss AND we go to commercial.

Yikes! No romance now, Agent Orange has turned into a violent jack-o-lantern, devilish grimace and all. He throws Kristel down and yells at her for leaving him alone at the clinic. What an ass. He tells her she’d better figure out a way to get rid of the little package and pronto. She gets all pathetic, grabs his waist and begs him not to abandon her.

Eman and Mari finish their kiss, look content, and then look shocked. He stammers, she stutters, he doesn’t know what he feels for her, they are cousins, they are…it’s a mistake she says. More stammering, more staring, wow he is truly smitten. He tells her he doesn’t care, he wants to kiss her and boy howdy he does.

Emil drops Netty off at the house. Will we get yet another kiss? He approaches her, he embraces her, she resists in the wimpiest manner possible, but then she pushes him out the door. Shoot! He shouts that he’s leaving, but he’ll be back.

Back to our inconstant kissin’ cousins and they have torn themselves from each other again. Mari reminds Eman that he’s engaged, he has to go from her room or she’ll leave the house forever. He looks slightly indignant.

We return to our real lovers, Oliver and Gretel, and they couldn’t be sweeter. She never thought she could be this happy. He tells her he’ll never leave her, they kiss and the romantic music reaches a climax…ahem.

Netty frets to Gladiola about her problematic relationship with Emiliano. Gladi says it’s not Netty’s fault, there is an air of frivolity in the house. Netty says she feels it and the two giggle. It’s in the house all right, in Oliver’s room to be exact.

Crazy Fedra Music interrupts our joy and the witch limps (heh heh) in anger as she curses Netty for stealing her husband. Said husband comes home and wonders why she’s limping in her 9-inch heels. Emil is another one who doesn’t believe that Mari stomped on Fedra. Fedra insults Netty and Emil grabs her and tells her Netty is an exceptional woman and he never wants to hear her refer to Netty in that manner again! She gets weepy but he doesn’t fall for it. He stalks off to bed, telling her he’s tired of listening to her stupidities.

It’s the next morning and Mari wakes to the memory of the passionate kiss with her cousin. She tells herself it can never happen again. She looks next to her and notices that Gretel isn’t there. (I guess they are sharing the room.)

Delicia knocks at the door. Mari plumps up the pillows to make it look like Gretel’s in bed and then gazes longingly at the breakfast tacos before asking herself where could Gretel be?

She could be under the loving gaze of her amante, illuminated by the morning’s first light. Oliver still can’t believe it and he asks “Are we novios?” Gretel tells him “Of course we’re novios you boob, do you think I do this with the whole world?” Then she becomes frantic, her mother will kill her. Oliver calms her with a kiss and assures her that if Fedra lays a finger on her he’ll take her away from that house forever.

Los Angeles – Ilitia signs for her room service as we hear a familiar naco voice creating a scene in the hallway OF THE SAME HOTEL. Hey they only have one hotel in L.A., just like in the DF. Her plate spills all over her expensive frock. He grabs a napkin and tries to wipe her off. And she lets him.

Back at the Porto Lopez abode Flora is untying Muñeca. They hope nothing bad happened at the warehouse. Hopefully Lowrenzo is dead or at least severely beaten and Fidel is just fine.

Fedra is enjoying the ubiquitous glass of OJ found in all telenovelas and cursing Emil for sleeping with his back to her thanks to Netty. Spidery twists the knife by pointing out that Netty is pretty…and young. Fedra pounds the table. Eman joins them. He kicks Spidery out and pointedly asks Fedra if Chema and José Manuel Sevilla are the same person.

Tomorrow: Spidery injects something nasty into a chocolate. Maximo tells Eman that he’s not a Ruiz y Teresa.

Sylvia, it's a really good thing I read this tonight at home instead of waiting until I was at the office tomorrow, because with the hysterical laughter all the way through no one would believe I was thinking about engineering. So much great ascerbic wit, but one thing that really slayed me was Agent Orange as a violent jack-o-lantern. I think you've nailed him. Now can we light a candle inside his head and leave him out on the porch to get smashed in the street and rot?

Man oh man, did I ever love watching Fedra get beat on by everyone the whole episode. Tia Carlota was pretty funny, Mari's footwork was super satisfying, and even her loyal henchman Spiderus got a few good digs in. Awesome.

Gretel, honey, just stay in that little love nest and never go home again. Even if you have to share the room with Brandon when he returns, it's still a million times better. Although Netty's pension seems to have almost as many rooms as the megamansion, so I'm sure they could rearrange things to suit.

Wow. A sizzling episode and a sizzling recap to go with it.

Very clever title, and thanks for the link to chamoy by the way. Had no idea what that was.

"Toxic table" is a keeper but my personal favorite?...

"Are they? Will they? Oh my...."

Fun stuff, Sylvia. Even though we know all these romances will go through stormy weather, we now have a lot of sweet loving memories to tide us over.

I really lucked into a great episode last night. It was deeply satisfying to see Fedra get smacked down again and again, not to mention the irresistable attraction between the main couple E and M and our favorite couple Oliver and Gretel. It was great to see Gretel completely happy for once.

Honestly, I don't know why they RyT family ever sits down together for meals. They are the worst.

Judy, I didn't know what chamoy was either. I had to look it up and it sounds very odd.

Wow! Sylvia. I know good writin' when I read it and this is good. Your recap this morning is like sips of dry, crisp, sparkling Champagne. Thanks.

I must admit I had mixed feelings about the consummation of the coupling of Gretel and Oliver. It was very sweet but given her state of mind, I thought it was slightly creepy. I guess I'm turning into a prudish old scold in my waning years. Thanks for that legacy, Mom.

Now as for Ilitia and Brandon, laissez les bon ton roulette.

Ditto for Mari and Mani.

Heck, Netty and Emiliano as well.

I just wish Oliver had taken things a little slower with the fragile Gretel.

And speaking of fragile, I think I liked the uncertain gay-curious Axel better than this creepy Stepford child.

Mari's treading on Fedra's/Juana's toes was wonderful. When she reached for her Primatene, I thought (hoped) that she was reaching for her newly acquired pepper spray. Oh well, maybe next time.

Carlos

Loved the recap. Signature Sylvia. So many wonderful lines most have which have already been noted. I also enjoyed: "Fedra snarls and Axel sits next to her looking blissed out". Perfect.

So many interesting, diverse levels of romance. Newly realized (Emiliano for Netty), fantasy becomes reality (Netty for Emiliano), newly passionate (Oliver and Gretel) and still in denial (Brandon and Ilitia).

Enjoyed Mari's "kicking Fedra to the curb" so to speak. However, Fedra's kissing her feet is an image I'm unlikely to purge from my memory for quite some time. Blech.

While sad that Axel has not regained full memory, I am relieved he has a slight reprieve from Fedra's cruelty and abusive memories.

Happy Friday all!

Diana

Thanks for the recap and vocab Sylvia. I too enjoyed your description of Agent Oranges as a violent jack-o-lantern.

Carlos - You weren't the only one not enthusiastic about Oliver and Gretel taking their relationship to the next level. Her mental state/lack of wholeness made me very uncomfortable.

It was great see Mari not let Fedra get the better of her and what Fedra get no love all episode.

Sylvia, I echo Julia's comment about not being at the office while reading. With early morning calls, I'm working from home today and am just reading your recap. So nice to be able to just bust out laughing at your wonderful snarky comments. This recap was absolutely award worthy.

This episode was awesome! Lots of loving, people ganging up on Fedra (kissing her toes was sort of gross), and Low getting a good one where it hurts. I knew the whole "cousins" thing was going to have to be dealt with before the main twosome feel like there attraction will be okay - even though those kisses weren't cautious by any means. So tonight Maximo spills the beans...so cool.

There needs to be a way to have Orangey get his, like NOW. Kristel clings to him like the only life raft in the ocean. Gees girl...he's hardly the only decent guy out there.I have a bad feeling she's going to cave to his wishes on an abortion and something will go wrong.

Whoever speculated that Axel will be blocking out the bad memory of what Mama did hit the nail on the head. And even then some...so in his book, she's never been evil or nasty...watch, he'll give up the music and go back to medical school. Not liking this development.

Oliver/Gretel...so sweet. I think he may be what she needs to feel confident and unafraid.

But TN law requires that Fedra will find out.In fact for all our couples,it's too early in the series for happy endings.

Overall, things are getting so good...Ilita and Brandon should be a hoot next couple episodes too. Wanna bet we get some horizonatal action there???

Okay, a poll: If you had a family member who had just returned from the hospital with amnesia, would you sit there at dinner continuing to fight about your same old problems? In my family, NO WAY. (Not that we usually fight at dinner anyway). Everyone would be completely fascinated by and worried about the amnesia and would spend the whole evening delicately trying to find out what he remembered and didn't remember without overwhelming him.

Julia- I'm with you. It would be all about Axel in my house and figuring out how bad the problem is delicately.

I'll third that. I was surprised it was like "yeah, he's home" and then nothing about the fact he was on death's door and had memory loss.
Maybe that's supposed to confirm how self-absorbed the family is compared to Netty's place where everyone cares about everyone else.

Just wonderful, Sylvia, with lots of good laughs! Thank you!

And Carlos “Thanks for the legacy, mom.” Excellent!

I didn’t catch that Carlota planned on going home soon. It’s amazing how she comes into the house and just runs everything. Is it because she’s a matriarch? Because she’s loaded?

I think Gretel doesn’t tell what she knows about Fedra because she’s afraid Fedra will kill her.

I was afraid that Marianela would mix up her inhaler and the pepper spray, but I guess that would just kill her off. Still, I got jumpy when she reached for her inhaler.

Has anybody seen Laura Flores (Netty) in a comedy part before, or is this a first for her? She’s just wonderful in this show. Her pepper spray demonstration was a hoot.

I really like the actress playing Muneca. Although Muneca couldn’t see through Lorenzo, and hasn’t caught onto Begona, somehow she manages to look like she has a higher IQ than anybody else in the cast.

It’s astonishing how fast Emiliano has changed his mind about Fedra. The sudden insight at Axel’s bedside? The sudden realization that he loves Netty?

Agree. Daisy said it perfectly so there's nothing else for me to add.

Diana

I think Emiliano always has found Netty interesting, but with Mari coming to town, he's had more opportunity to get to know her. She is a breath of fresh air compared to Fedra. I think he's tired of Fedra's heavy-handedness, favoritism of the children, and a bunch of other crap she's been unloading for a long time. Her treatment of Marianela, I believe, is the last straw for Emiliano. He and Netty make a great couple. So do Oliver and Gretel but consummating their relationship with her so fragile is a very bad idea. Valentino Lanus is doing a great job showing all the conflicting emotions that Emanuel has. It is obvious he just can't resist Mari, even though he knows kissing her is not a good idea. And can he kiss!!! Wow, major move on the hot meter. I wonder what his wife thinks of him kissing all these ladies like he does? Hmmm..... He might just give EY a run for the money in my book, except that he is so young. At my age, 55, 35 seems like a youngster.

I absolutely love all of the recaps posted on here! Thanks to everyone who writes these because I read them everyday to make sure I understood everything that happens. I LOVE this show and have been watching it since the beginning despite how angry it makes me at times...

Does anyone by any chance know the name of the song that always plays every time when Marianela & Emanuel are in an intimate moment? I've been trying to find it, but they never play it long enough for me to hear what the lyrics are.

Hello, Marisa! I'm glad you like the recaps; it's lovely to be appreciated!

I'm also happy there are more people out there who love this show...for awhile there it seemed like a lonely club.

I don't know what the song is but I'll pay attention and see if I can figure it out. It may be one of the bits that was composed specifically for the show...someone will know if we can't tell from listening.

GREAT recap, as usual! Wow, a lot happened! And it looks like tonight is going to be more of the same!

So many laugh-out-loud moments you've given us in this recap. And thank you as always for clearing up some of the bits I couldn't get (as always). Especially the stuff that Oliver says. I swear, he baffles me regularly. I looked up some of those words he said and couldn't make sense of them! So thank you again!

Finally something is starting to happen between Mari and Emanuel, but we know that we have several months left of this TN, so the road will be rocky.

Yeah, I also thought things went too quickly for Gretel and Oliver. I couldn't pinpoint why, other than I was "meh" about their love scenes. I do think they are the cutest couple in this telenovela, though.

LOVED that Mari stepped on Fedra's foot! Very satisfying to see!

To answer the question about who did the song, here it is on YouTube!

Speaking of YouTube, it is really hard to find clips of some Televisa shows on YouTube. YouTube has a pretty sophisticated way to block them. I like to do fangirly things like put up fan made videos, and wanted to pimp Llena de Amor (and telenovelas in general) and had to jump through all sorts of technical hoops to get a video to publish without being blocked. Here's the video I finally got up, (which also pimps Caray Cary at the end! LOL).

I hope to get HD pretty soon, and HOPE to find a way to make clips in HD! That'll warm my little fangirly heart.

I can pinpoint why it seemed too quick for Gretel and Oliver: they don't know each other that well. Most of their conversations consist of her crying, him saying he loves her and he'll take care of her, and her saying her home life is awful. What he knows about her: goes to school, has a terrible mother, traumatized about something. What she knows about him: policeman, wants to go to school. They need to just spend more time together, talk about their interests and aspects of their lives that aren't so emotionally charged as well as the ones that are, and see whether they are compatible for life situations other than crisis counseling.

I'm old-fashioned and don't believe in falling into bed as the START of a relationship, unlike apparently a lot of people.

I know they sometimes play the "llena de amor" song by Luis Fonsi in the beginning, but I'm actually talking about a different one. haha my Spanish isn't the best, so the only word I can pick out in the part they play in the song is "fantasia".. The rest I can never tell. I know for sure that they played the song on Wednesday which was the first time Emanuel and Marianela kissed.

Sweeney, your clip on youtube is awesome!! Thanks for the shout out. Was the striptease early in the show? I missed the first week because I was on vacation.

Marisa, I know which song you mean. I remember at the time I thought it sounded a bit like Sin Bandera but I have no idea if it is one of their songs or something written for the show as Julia suggests.

The dinner - Yes that darn family is just horrid and weird. Imagine arguing like that in front of Axel, especially when it upset him so much. They just couldn't seem to stop.

The couple - It occurred to me for about a half a second that maybe Oliver and Gretel jumping into bed might not be a good idea, but it was only for half a second. By TN standards they are truly in love, meant for each other and will end up with each other...eventually. She just seemed so incredibly happy afterward I couldn't help but feel happy for her. Frankly I was surprised it happened so quickly, but I was cool with it.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

OK, I just checked the credits for the show and guess who is credited for the incidental music? None other than our Alex Sirvent, AKA Alejandro Mariano Sirvent Barton. Remember him as Rolando Klunder from Gancho? He has a great voice, I wonder if it's him singing?

Hey Julia, didn't you point out once that Alex Sirvent was in the music credits? Heh, here I was thinking I was so clever and all of a sudden I remember that you already told us that! You also thought he should have a cameo in this which I totally agree with.

Ah, Rolu. Now there was a satisfying redemption story. He really paid for it, but was he ever dreamy by the end. And so funny before that. Yes, Alex Sirvent really needs to drop by LldA.

Thank you all so much for trying to figure that out for me! :) I've wanted to know the name of that song or at least who sang it for the longest time

It really is a beautiful song. Hopefully we'll be able to find a full length version somewhere.

Have you ever heard the theme song to the novela Amor Real? It was sung by Sin Bandera and is also very beautiful in a similar way. That's why I thought it might have been them. We heard Alex Sirvent sing in Un Gancho and he has an
incredibly sweet voice so this song in Llena could be him.

Sweeney, that was a great video you put together! Somehow I'd forgotten the striptease. It was just as funny the second time (oh, okay, the sixth).
