La Verdad Oculta EP39 11/08/2010 - More tears, shouts and flirting

* After witnessing that a rich playboy is smooching with his precious little daughter the indignant Fausto tries to scare him away and when he learns from a very polite and humble David that he and Gabriela have just got married he collapses. He's inconsolable, he doesn't want to listen to the kids and runs into his room. David comforts his heartbroken wife then he leaves. Two minutes later Fausto also storms out of the flat furiously, leaving his stunned daughters behind.

* Juan José, the Clueless Dumbass visits Elsa, the Whining Shrew, and they had their 659th fight over their relationship, her wish to be independent, his wish to protect her, who has changed and who hasn't, and what about Medina and Alejandra. While they're shouting each other's head off the phone starts to ring. Hello? Hiiii, Mauriciooo, how are youuu? Oh, JJ's face is priceless. Medina offers her a receptionist job at his office which she gladly accepts. JJ, whose face became sourer and sourer every minute while he was listening to their friendly conversation, restarts their debate and says he could offer her a job if she wants to work that much... But the new, upgraded Elsa 2.0 sends him to hell.

* Roberto visits Alejandra to revive their so-called friendship, but she's so irritated by him and quickly leaves for work. Yes, she has an important client whose name is Juan Ocampo.

* In their hotel room Susana discreetly steals a few diamonds. Hmm, it looks like the neverending epic love of Marky and Susanho is gone with the wind.

* Roberto and David have an uncomfortable conversation about the wedding. David warns Rob to never disrespect his wife again, and when Iago tries to whisper more poisonous tales about Carlos again he threatens him. Rob pulls a Smeagol: okay, okay, he'll do everything that the precious hobbit wants, but please, he'd like to remain his friend! You're an idiot, says David and he leaves.

* Faustiago tries to visit Mario but the bitchy blonde Cerberus who guards the front door bangs it into his face. He sneaks into the headquarters and has a walk in the secret tunnel. In the bedroom he wakes up Mario and gives him a bit of hell. He's sure Mario is the one who arranged the marriage! But Mario only wants them to be happy and rich and he plans to tell them the truth. Oh no, you didn't.

* In Medina's office the handsomest architect pays sweet compliments to Elsa who's very grateful for his offer, but in the meantime she worried about that the job won't fit her. No, she'll be perfect!

* Leonardo and Ramón interrogate Salomón about Elsa, the loan and her quit. Slimebag Sr. talk about her very benevolently, no, he doesn't find her behaviour suspicious, but he starts to tremble a little bit when Leo mentions the defenseless little girl has a big brother who's involved in two murders and drug traffic. *Viewerville: LOL*

* While Alejandra and Mina are examining JJ's house and Roberto shows up again and he's very interested in her work, in the mysterious Juan Ocampo and in the big hole in the middle of the kitchen. JJ also arrives at the house but doesn't notice Rob. He's enchanted by Alejandra's welcome kiss on his cheek but in the meantime he's too distracted by the quarrel with Elsa and doesn't care about the reconstruction much. After he he leaves the house the girls, as usual, gush about him.

* For five minutes the show turns into Die Hard 5 in which Leonardo McClane, the biggest hero of Novelaland and his colleagues eliminate a kidnapper clan and rescue a frightened, tied up woman.

* Marcos asks Susana to talk with Elsa.

* In the AFI office Ramón and Leo (who's still heartbroken) talk about Elsa's strange disappearance. What if she's involved in the stolen diamond business of her brother?

* Elsa learns from her friend Lulu that the cops were looking for her at home and at the garment factory. She asks Lulu that if her brother looks for her please tell him she disappeared, she knows nothing about her.

* In the hotel room Asunción is watching a Chantal Andere telenovela when a depressed JJ arrives at home. He tells Asunción he had a fight with Elsa, but anyway, he's more concerned about that he was awfully vapid when he met Alejandra. Who is so lovely, so beautiful and smells so good... Asunción gets fed up with the fanboy crush and bursts out: if you're so much into the pretty, rich, sophisticated and awesome Alejandra then leave poor, simple, caring and loyal Elsa in peace, Mr. Count of Monte Cristo!

* In their flat Fausto softly, coyly asks Gabriela if she really loves David. Yes. And is she sure about his feelings? Hell yes. He's a good boy, and the fact that he's married her proves that. She kisses her father and cries for his forgiveness to which Fausto responds that he only wants her to be happy. Doorbell, David came for Gabriela. Fausto looks at his daughter and gives his permission, though it's very hard for him to let his beloved daughter go. *Viewerville: Where is my handkerchief?!* After the young couple leaves Julieta joins her crying father. She's happy for Gaby who is so lucky, she has a great guy who loves her... While she's still a miserable waitress.

* In Club Sagitario Bertha and Roberto have a drink with Adolfo. Dolphie quickly gets rid of Roberto by sending him into the office
and starts to pay compliments to Bertha: David is an utter idiot for choosing a waitress instead of her. *Viewerville: Run, silly girl, run!*

* Fausto calls Mario and tells him he has decided: he accepts his offer.

P.S. Just want to mention that Thursday night, when all the other shows are pre-empted for the Latin Grammys -- for once, we are NOT pre-empted!

How about that. So tune in: same bat time, same bat channel.

Ok, summary is posted! Thank you for the beautiful summary and pictures, Aribeth!

Thank you so much Aribeth. This was a perfect summary. You really captured each scene, and I loved the photos too. Gabi and Fausto just broke my heart in their scenes. Gabi's fear and anxiety from disappointing a parent really came through. We can all remember those moments when we have royally screwed up and faced our parents' anger. I'm glad he sort of came around because he wants his child to be happy, above all else. And now he will go along with the plan to keep Mario from telling Gabi the truth about her paternity, and to be able to stay close to her and Juli who refuses to move.

I'm glad David took full responsibility to Fausto and told Roberto off. He has a long way to go before Fausto will like or trust him. For his sake, I hope Fausto (and Gabi) never find out his original false marriage plans. He would be up sh*t creek with them both.

Adolfo seems to be killing two birds with one stone. Pumping Bertha for info, and making a new conquest. Ewww!!!

I too was lol when Solomom gulped upon hearing Elsa big bro is a dangerous, drug dealing, escapee killer. Ha! Bet he'll never try to come on to her again, even if she still worked for him.

Yay! Elsa is going to work with Medina. I thought it was really cool that he told her the reason why he likes her so much, among other things, is because of the kind of loyalty he saw she had for her friends- what she did for JJ. I also like that not once has he questioned her relationship with JJ. He accepts that they are just friends. He didn't get bent out of shape, for example, when he brought her home from their date, and there was JJ. He left them both, knowing full well JJ was going into her apt with her, and didn't question it. I like that he doesn't seem to have a jealousy streak (are you listening David?).

Mauricio was so impressed with Elsa when she showed up at his hotel; that really put him over the top where she was concerned.

One of the best scenes of the show, with the bath robe as frosting. :-D

By the way, I am totally on Team Leo and Team Mauricio! Those two totally rock. Leo is saving damsels in distress left and right. I wonder how this kidnapping gang ties into the narco and diamond traficking gangs? They all must be connected somehow. I wondered for a second when Leo said to his colleagues that this gang always kills their kidnapping victims (even if they get their ransom money I guess), if his wife wasn't killed in this way. Did we ever find out how she died and why Leo is so committed to putting bad guys away, at the expense of being far away from his child, family and home?

Thanks for the links Jeri and for the wonderful news we aren't pre-empted Thursday night :)

Aribeth, fabulous recap and the pictures were amazing and greatly appreciated.

Of course, your LOTR references "Smeagol: okay, okay, he'll do everything that the precious hobbit wants" were my absolute favorite but there were many wonderful flowers from the garden of words you so carefully nutured: "Asunción gets fed up with the fanboy crush and bursts out: if you're so much into the pretty, rich, sophisticated and awesome Alejandra then leave poor, simple, caring and loyal Elsa in peace. Amen, you go Asuncion. I laughed at: "But the new, upgraded Elsa 2.0 sends him to hell" - excellent!

Gabi is so fortunate to have Fausto and Mario, adoring fathers both who love and cherish her deeeply. Her scene with Fausto dissolved me into tears. I wish Gabi and David's journey would be loving and happy from this day forward. But of course, then we would have no show.

So glad Medina is on the scene again. Kind, loyal, supportive, non-judgemental and yes, looks great, especially in a bathrobe!

Bertha and Adolfo? Cringeworthy. Blech.

Diana

Thank you! :)

I wonder how this kidnapping gang ties into the narco and diamond traficking gangs? They all must be connected somehow.

I was wondering about that, too. Your idea about Leo's wife is interesting, and yes, there must be some kind of connection between this and the other storylines.

Wonderful recap, Aribeth, and your pics captured the moment. Who knew Elsa knew how to be such a flirt. J J is possessive of Elsa worrying about her but he isn't a very good judge of people or he'd know Elsa has a crush on him and that Medina has proven to be an exemplary person of morals. In the pic, you captured E Y 's kisses to his mouth and the smelling thing he seems to like to do in every novela...a little yucky. And thank you for clarifying the conversation between Leo and Ramon about the kidnappers, diamonds and Marco though I am still a little fuzzy about it but I really was lost there.

Vivi, I thought you were going to say...Adolfo pumping Bertha for info and pumping her for...eewww and yuck again.

I was so naive I was thinking Gabi and David would be happy ever after now but I guess I forgot this is a novela.

And if Elsa doesn't want the job with Mauricio, I'll be happy to take it.

Jeri, thanks for the links which I used.

Roberto reminds me of one of those Whack-a-Mole at a carnival. You think he's been pounded down--by Ale, Carlos, Mario, Bertha, Gabriela, Papa Salamon and Don Avila--but he just keeps popping back up, sneering, to the frustration of all, especially Ale.
Newbie-one-Kanobe

Loved the recap Aribeth. Roberto is channeling Wormtongue more and more. Now he's nosing around JJ's house and found the hole in the kitchen. Uh oh not good. For a minute there, the show turned into C.O.P.S with the whole rescue scene and camera movement as though it happened in real time. I think JJ should leave Elsa alone for now. They won't see eye to eye about anything since he only loves her as a sister and she's in love with him and wants her independence. However, I think she is beginning to see Mauricio in a whole new light though. If Adolfo hooks up with Bertha well I'm not going there LOL. I laughed when Fausto used the secret tunnel to get to Mario when Bertha slammed the door in his face. I knew with the whole surprise of Gabi's and David's marriage, he would begrudingly accept Mario's offer.

Aribeth my friend, you rock!! your recap was full of clever phrases."new upgraded Elsa 2.0" I am still laughing over that one. I do agree, JJ acting like a clueless dumb ass. His need to protect and her need for something more. Those two are soo not getting together.Their agendas are totally different. He has already firmly packed her in the sister zone. Maybe if he hadn't met Ale..Sorry Elsa, your traffic light is definitely RED.Mauricio is a fantastic consolation price. So wipe away your tears, put on a clingy dress and go for it.
Roberto!! do I even want to comment on that creep??? The actor portraying him is really good.I actually hate the Roberto character and yet I loved him in Manana. Fausto is understandably heartbroken. He is loosing his oldest child to her natural father. David is just icing on the cake. The real issue is with Mario getting his daughter back. It is made more painful because Gabi has no clue.
Thanks Jeri for the link and the heads up about Thursday.I must admit, univision has been good to us lately. Knock on something....

Hanna

As slimy as Roberto (Fabian Robles)
is, I am enjoying his performance.
I feel the same way about Adolfo
(Julio Aleman). Both of these actors are in Soy tu Dueña and play
very different roles from what they are playing in Verdad.

Fabián is good; he won the Best Villain award for his villain in Apuesta Por Un Amor in 2004-2005, when he was just barely 30 years old.

Thanks Aribeth for the great recap.

I am an episode behind with this, hence my late comment.

Roberto seems to be popping up everywhere he isn't supposed to be, and causing trouble. What are Bertha and Adolfo going to hook up? Just what she needs a rich 'daddy' figure.

I am just loving Elsa and her ways. Good on her. She wants to prove to JJ and to herself that there is life after JJ.

Margaret

Aribeth, enjoyed the humor in your recap. "Asunción gets fed up with the fanboy crush..." lol.
