Jardinera, I think you've outdone yourself (and that's hard to do!). What a great recap!! I especially loved your snarky comments, such as "Viewerville eagerly wishes that Marcy for once would have gotten the dose wrong and put us all out of our misery" (Amen!!) and "¡Ya, basta! Even I'm sick of listening to it. (Amen again!!). I also loved "The virgencita will be taking a siesta and won’t get the message." In fact, if I cite all the lines I enjoyed, I'd simply be reproducing your recap.

I found it amusing that Dan knew exactly what hospital Vicki had been taken to without Renata telling him. For "El Clon," we had abbreviations such as TOCIM (the only club in Miami). Perhaps we should adopt that shorthand here: Dr. Rivera is TODILA and the hospital is TOHILA. (Of course, I'm tempted to use M rather than LA, since although "Eva Luna" is supposedly set in Los Angeles, it was obviously filmed in Miami.)

Anyway, can't wait to see whether Marcy's guilt-tripping works with Dano. Last night, he seemed to be resisting better than I'd expected.

Jardinera, That was a great recap. I kind of had hopes that Vicky wouldn't make it but knew that she would. Wouldn't that have been an unusual turn for a novela. Knock off one of the main characters early on. Marcella is just plain evil!!! I sure hope Dan stands up to her. Although she is formidable. I wouldn't take any tea or coffe from her.

The Marisol/Fran scene was a little disapointing. I really wanted them to get found out and get Fran with Jacky. Although he was a jerk last night.

Thanks for the recap, I to love the hospital bit with Daniel knowing which hospital Icky was being taken too (LOL my husband was like he didn't get directions to the hospital, and I told him its Telenoval land there's only one in LA). Marcela is sooooooo FAKE worried about Icky in the ambulance like she cared. I wanted the medic to tell her to shutand let him do his job. I've never laugh so much with Francisco,Marisol, Alicia,and the owner of the penthouse. The poor guy is not only confused,but he gets slap for being confuse and not going alone with Marisol and Alicia. Did I notice Alicia using her womanly wiles on Tony, to keep his promise to get Carols out of the slammer. Poor Carols I'm afraid he's already bitter about the issue of him being locked up. while Alicia is playing Mairsol's maid,a actress, and a outraged women. I hope he learns his lesson about hooking up with her. Maybe we should tell the writers Carols needs to hook up with Jacky instead. Michele in PA

What man with an 11 year old daughter would marry a woman so unstable as to attempt suicide. I would think this would really turn him off.

Dano needs to quit his job with Marcy and form a new company with D.J.The clients would all no doubt follow him.

Where is Bruno when we need him to stop Marcy in her tracks?

ITA about Daniel he would be crazy if he takes Icky back,b/c she's very unstable now and he has proof of this(Hospital), if she goes along with mad mommies plan to guilt him into not calling off the boda. Michele in PA
 

Thanks for the recap Jardinera. You made me laugh out loud with you bit about what would have happened if a drunk said boo :)

The writers need to bring a bit of balance to Marcy's murdering ways. While thankfully she hasn't been able to kill her spouse, everyone else seems like dominoes in her path. I hope Dan will keep his spine but not that hopeful.
 

So appreciate the great recap Jardinera. I couldn't watch much last night with the Bears game on - original Chicagoan here just had to watch my team.

"Naw, a night in paradise would have included a birthday-suited Dano in bed, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries." Hey, at least for viewerville! but my fear is that not so much Marcy's threats, but Eva will get all sacrificial and SHE will be the one to tell Dano that he must honor his commitment to Icky. We're moving too fast to a happy ending for these two -

I too was bummed about Franco and Mari. It was cute at first, now this whole charade is taking on a stupid quality. we need to get them back to reality and see if they still want each other.
 

I wonder whether Susanna Dosamantes saw that series I, Claudius on PBS back in the day. Marcela is like a latter-day Livia. In the second episode of that great British miniseries there is a scene where one of her sons says "They say a snake bit her once... and died."

Yes, we're just about at the point where our innocent heroine decides that the hero must marry the mentally ill villana so she won't try to off herself again. And he'll be stuck with her until the last week of the series.

Great point about how a man with a child should run away from a woman like this. Dan would have a better chance being locked into an Iron Maiden vs marrying Icktoria and having Marcela for a monster-in-law.

I'm echoing what everyone else is saying. How could Marcy's plan possibly work? What response does she expect Dan to give Vicky? "Oh, you're a suicidal raving lunatic? Well, okay, NOW I want to be married to you."

Run far and fast, Dano. But of course since it's a telenovela probably he and Eva will feel like he has to let himself be manipulated to save Vicky's life, rather than just offering to find her a good manicomio as would be sensible.

Why does everyone let Merciless wield so much power? No one likes her. She's awful. Her threats aren't even subtle. Isn't it time for a coup, led by Julio? Wasn't he trying to divorce her? I'm pretty sure he can do it, even if she tears up the papers.

I'm getting tired of Marisol's and Francisco's stupid game. I hope he falls for Jackie just as she realizes she's too good for him.

UrbAnth--I watched all of I Claudius--it's been years, but of course Marcela's must be chaneling Livia.

Anyone in her path is at risk of getting maimed, killed or married off to consolidate power and control.

Offing Icky was definitely not in Marcela's plan, an OD was perfect for the guilt trip to lay on poor unsuspecting Dano.

There must be something about Dano, his money or prestige that drives her. Why he's working for her and not for himself is strange. On the other hand, he may have had a happy association with Don Julio before he got ill and Marcela took over running the show.

Remember, Marcela's the one that probably offed Dano's wife and then pushed Icky into the relationship.

Now she is dead set on Dano's having to marry her daughter anyway making him think this is the only way to prevent her from being successful the next time she tries suicide? Sick, sick, sick.

ITA with Kalum, Dan had better think what it'll do to his daughter if he gives Eva up and marries V-icky.

Well, the avances shows us a little more huggy scenes between Eva and Dano. Maybe he's persuading her that she should never doubt his love, even though he has to do some things that require that they keep their love hidden a little longer. (That's my desire, anyway.)

Meanwhile, I'd say to Dano, Beware of Friends like Leo. He's sure to use any information against him. It's good that Eva and Dano can talk. Right now they know more than Leo does, but it won't take him long to figure out that Eva had something to do with the break-up.

Loved Don Julio in his t-shirt and blue knit sweater. He's looking better and better all the time.

Great comments, everybody! I am waiting for Don Julio to open up a competitive ad agency with Dano and Eva, or maybe to close down that one and reopen it without his wife on the board or something.
 

Urban Anthropologist, I don't think that Dan will go back to Vicki and be stuck with her until the last week of the series. In some telenovelas, yes, that would almost surely be what would happen. But this one seems to have a different pace than most. Note all the rapid shifts between scenes, and the very quick resolution of most of the obstacles that have been placed in the path of Dan and Eva's happiness. So I don't think the series will suddenly stick with one huge obstacle until very near the end. Instead, I think they'll continue to vary the obstacles and plot elements. For example, let's remember that it was Dan's red car that killed Eva's father. Surely that has to come back to screw up the works, at least for a while.

Let's not forget that Claudia knows that Icky is responsible for disfiguring the other woman's face. That may kick into the plot later on as well
