El Mundo de Telemundo: Week of January 31 -- Discuss among yourselves
Labels: alguien, herederos, reina-sur, telemundo
Eleuterio needs to let go; Guadalupe is an adult. I guess we'll be seeing her mother sometime in the near future.
I don't know how old Consuelo is supposed to be but if she's a college student her parents have no business interfering in her love life. They also need to know that their objections only serve to make her more stubborn.
Pedro is sick and if Julieta doesn't end up marrying Juan he is no consolation prize.
If Paula is an equal heiress to the del Monte fortune, neither she nor her mother have the right to overrule the brothers in any decision regarding the estate or its employees.
Poor Lucas. His crush on Paula is understandable but pathetic.
I don't think the wedding will happen.
LOS HEREDEROS
One correction - it was Rosa, (Consuela's mom) who asked Juan to fire Johnny - you have her name correct later in the paragraph.
Yeah - those galáns always fall for that "despedida de soltera" gift of a little extra hanky-panky on the side!
LOL!
Audrey
There are a lot of weak/despicable men in this novela-
Juan, who can't resist Paula;
Miguel, who can't control his wife or resist Sofia;
Eleuterio, who can't admit to his daughter that his wife is still alive;
Pedro, who can't get over Julieta and
Jose, who is acting like a jerk with Beatriz.
It was a busy week with plenty of terror!
Matilde had a auto horrible accident running from Julian and ended up in the hospital comatose unable to move or speak. Then she gets to wake up terrified alone with Julian in the intensive care room who tells her he knows her condition, and she better not make a sound and he'll be "taking care of her" from now on and she better behave as it would be better for her son to have her alive. She's having panic attacks - bordering on cardiac arrest. Piedad makes her a rather patronizing speech about don't worry that she (Matilda) is helpless, Piedad loves her son Emiliano dearly and will make sure he has everything he could possibly need (in terms of mothering). Thanks Piedad!
Tati - Tati has been busy eavesdropping at the clinic picking up info and spreads the word that Rodrigo escaped the night that Matilde had her accident and maybe Rodrigo is the murderer! She even shares this information with Julian - that Rodrigo had gone over to see Piedad and Julian's apartment and it was Piedad who returned Rodrigo to the treatment center. Tati also mentions to several people that Matilde called her from the gas station that night hysterical and all she could get out was "Julian!". She wonders why Matilde was saying that.
Rodrigo gets the police to finally talk to him. He tells Carvajal that he is convinced the killer is Julian. He tells them in detail about Matilde's visit and what she showed him (the woman in the black dress). The police are still trying to figure out whether Daniel Vidal may be "El Cazador" and are aggressively looking for him. Carvajal decides to put an unofficial tail on Julian as well. The district attorney is not buying that Rodrigo is not the killer, so Carvajal is going behind his back. The police are still skeptical in general however.
Camila has also been in the hospital from a suicide attempt. She escapes - having been evicted from her apartment she goes to Tati and Benja's home and has a screaming pleading fight with Benja's daughter. The maid calls Benja after being unable to reach Tati (she's been too busy gossiping with her suspicions) and tells him. Benja and Tati come home, search for Camila everywhere, and finally find her cowering in the master bedroom closet crying. She has nowhere to go she explains.
Daniel Vidal has been stalking Julian, making threats if Julian doesn't get him the money ASAP. Later we see Daniel haul off a big package to a local shipping office. The police are looking for Daniel. He almost gets caught one of the times he goes into an public internet/computer facility to check on tracking of the package. A while back we had seen Daniel packing a large box with the bottled jars of horrors Julian was keeping in his "dungeon".
Julian has several conversations with Eva - his alter-ego. She taunts him that he wants to kill even Piedad - because he "wants her heart". Julian denies these impulses. But he confronts Piedad after he finds out that she said nothing to him about Rodrigo's visit and even leaving the apartment to return Rodrigo to the clinic. Julian basically tells her he expects her total honesty/loyalty. She explains that with Matilde's accident (which was the same night) she didn't have time to tell him. She also points out that Julian hasn't been 100% honest with her either (about where he has been going?). You can see that Julian is getting frustrated....
Valeria is trying to figure out who Rodrigo suspects and going against Rodgrigo's specific warnings to stay away from the clinic. She is instead calling much attention to herself in pubicly proclaiming Rodrigo's innocence, talking to Piedad, and even going to the clinic to talk with Rodrigo's lawyer. She ends up meeting Julian first hand - you can see her wariness in meeting Julian face-to-face. After Piedad complains about Valeria's pleading a couple of times and how she's such a devoted friend of you can see the wheels start to turn in Julian's mind.....
Benja visits Rodrigo and they have a long conversation about whether Julian could be the killer. Rodrigo explains all the reasons he is convinced. Benja brings up all the reasons it could be Daniel Vidal. Rodrigo looks like he's not so sure anymore. But he does get Benja to agree to keep an eye on Piedad.
We share an uncomfortable moment when Julian is spying on Piedad in the bubble-bath, and she even finally notices and wraps herself in a towel. He has to go out and see Emilio's grandparents he says (yeah, right!).
Two large boxes are delivered to Julian's apartment to his name. Piedad calls Julian asking about them. He says - oh - it must not have all fit in one box. Go ahead and open them, and he wants to know her reaction. The first box contains a huge pile of baby things - clothes, toys, blankets, etc. Piedad is delighted. Piedad opens the second box. Oh no! It's the Julian's jars of horrors - hearts and Mauricio's head! Piedad throws an impressive totally freaked out fit, and finally calls Julian. He's actually with Daniel who is threatening him again - the money Julian has brought so far from selling some of his art collection is not going to cut it! Daniel looks on smugly as Julian hears what Piedad unpacked! Julian tells Piedad not to call anyone, he'll be right there and will take care of everything. Daniel tells Julian - next time, he'll send evidence to the police - better hurry up with that money. Julian rushes to the apartment and tries to calm a totally freaked Piedad down. She finally insists on leaving his apartment and gets a driver to take her home. She calls Benja to please come over to her place ASAP - she needs him!
Lola goes over the deep end after Lucy tells her daughters that she is carrying Pedro Pablo's son and they will have a little brother. She's encouraged by her maid at first, but when Lola goes to Lucy's room, takes all her clothes and cuts them into small pieces, Yoyita decides maybe Lola has gone too far. Too late - Lola is on a rampage. She takes a garbage bag of the clothes to the clinic and causes a huge scene - Pedro Pablo finally comes out and sees what state his wife is in, takes her home. They fight at home.
Well - that is a lot of it. I'm sure there are several important scenes I have left out. This recapping business is exhausting!
Regards
Audrey
Audrey, you did a great job with that recap. I just wanted to share this next week promo I found. It says there will be three murders next week. That is definitely not good news! I really don't want to see Julian get away with more murders.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_pPOhStiTE
Hmmm - "un triple crimen" - the announcer doesn't say exactly what crimes.... But I'm not sure I caught everything the announcer said.
And El Cazador with a gun? That's a new one.
Gosh - seems like we have quite a bit left and I don't see how this is wrapping up next week. Unlike I expected, we didn't get the últimos capítulos announcement this week, so I guess we still have two weeks to go? Arrrgh!
This has been exhausting! Although the production has been fabulous, I am worn out!
Audrey
P.S. In the paragraph on Valeria, in the last sentence I left out Rodrigo's name. It should read: "After Piedad complains about Valeria's pleading a couple of times and how she's such a devoted friend of Rodrigo you can see the wheels start to turn in Julian's mind....."
Audrey, thanks for a great summary. You covered almost everything. One key think is that Daniel Vidal accidentally dropped the business card of the lawyer he sent his proof to. Julian later found it. If you ask me, that means one less lawyer!
I still think we have lots left, maybe 3 weeks or more. They usually announce ultimas capitulos, and still have a bunch of weeks left. I know, we're all itching to have Julian caught, but as long as the producers have us watching avidly each night, why should they try to wrap it up quickly?
And Julian seems to have the perfect combination of luck and skill. Luck: Matilde being unable to speak, Daniel Vidal dropping that business card. Skill: 1) Immediately noticing the cops were following him, and losing the tail with ease, and 2)coming up with a great cover story to explain why he was "hiding" selling his assets from Piedad (he told her he was going to buy them a new house as a surprise, but with all Matilde's medical bills, that's on hold, now). He's very quick at figuring out things.
I also liked one of Rodrigo's arguments with Benja. He said "Serial killers have no emotions. You and I are both impulsive, right? But who's the most perfectionist, meticulous person you know? Julian, right?" Right!!
I agree that the galans often give in to the charms of the bad girl the night of the bachelor party. In Las Tontas No Van al Cielo, this happened in the very first episode. The bride's sister switched places with the stripper, and had sex with the groom (who was very drunk) the night before the wedding. The bride found out, called off the wedding (she actually stripped off her wedding gown in the middle of the ceremony!), and although the groom spent the entire novela trying to win her back, he never did.
Based on this, one would think that if Julieta finds out about Juan and Paula (which it seems she will, from that camcorder), she'd call off the wedding, and they'll never get married. But of course each show is different.
I've started to try to take a distanced approach with this novela. Rather than get upset at each terrible thing, I just laugh at them. It's all so typically novela-esque, and is actually easy to see as a farce. I have a feeling the producers are trying to ride that fine line between drama and farce - for some viewers, it's all very serious and upsetting, but for others, it's a hoot!
Rodrigo calms down Tatiana and gets her to tell him about what happen with Matilde the night of the accident. Tatiana says she called her sounding scared and frighten and then she yelled out the name Julian.
Pedro Pablo learns from Veronica the receptionist about Lola's antics at the clinic.
Piedad gets scared catching Julian watching her again, he covers up saying he has to leave and go visits Emilio with his grandparents.
Daniel Vidal comes back to his hideway scared and sweating looking to see if he's been followed.
Julian carries out a couple of paintings from his apartment.
Lola is bragging to Yoyita what she did as Yoyita cheers her on, the girls come in and they have a mother daughters bonding moment. This is spoiled by Loca Lucia coming in and announcing to them on purpose that she will be giving them a little brother.
Luisa chastises the cop who lost Daniel Vidal.
Julian goes into a art gallery going to sell his paintings, a undercover cop is watching him from across the way.
Daniel calls his lawyer and tells him he's leaving real soon.
Rodrigo wants to talk to Benja.
Julian leaves the art gallery after selling off his paintings as he drives along he notices the obvious tail. Yeah like who wouldn't notice and not say that's a undercover police car following me with that big old search light on the driver's sideview mirror. He loses the cop following him.
Daniel sweats and worries some more with his lawyers card in his hand he drops it not knowing and watches to see if anyone followed him.
Piedad gets the two boxes and calls Julian who has arrived at the hideaway. Julian tells her to go and open her surprises.
Lola sends the girls out with Yoyita as she then gets into a catfight with Lucia.
Julian comes in calling out for Daniel he looks around and finds the card Daniel dropped.
Audrey, thanks for the terrific summary of recent events!
Hombre, I liked Rodrigo's argument to Benja too. Let's hope Benja found it as persuasive as we did!
Let’s consider Julián’s current hit list:
Eduardo: He’s the lawyer to whom Daniel has entrusted ‘proof’ of Julián’s guilt. He has been instructed to turn over this material to the police if Daniel disappears. Now Julián has his name. He has probably guessed his role. After all, Daniel is a loner: who else could Eduardo be? The problem for Julián: to dispose of Eduardo AND the damning evidence he possesses.
Daniel: Once Julián has convinced everyone that Daniel is El Cazador, he can have the pleasure of killing him. He might even do it openly, in ‘self-defense’, and become a media hero.
Matilde: If she recovers sufficiently to tell anyone what happened, Julián is sunk.
Piedad: Soooooooooo stupid!!!! You get Mauricio’s head in a box and you don’t call the police????? The only way she will escape her fate is if Julián is caught first or if someone kills him. (I’m hoping for the second.)
Tatiana: If her spite-clouded cerebrum ever clears, she’ll realize the significance of Matilde’s calling out Julián’s name in that frantic fateful phone call. Julián needs to get rid of her before she can tell the police.
Valeria: She doesn’t really KNOW anything but she has become a gadfly to Julián. And her love for and loyalty to Rodrigo are galling to him.
Any names missing?
I know there are all kinds of engaged couples, but have you ever heard of one where they're about 30 years old, she's living in his house, and 1) they've never had sex, and 2) she's too "shy" for him to see her naked? Okay, maybe the Amish (hope nobody here is Amish, don't mean to offend, it's just an example). I mean, where's this relationship going between Piedad and Julian if there's no intimacy? Both of them HAVE to realize it's not happening.
Piedad had sex with Rodrigo, and they weren't even engaged, I don't think. So does Julian really think things will work out, when she is this uneasy around him? (I'm GLAD she's uneasy around him, I wish she'd trust him LESS, but as long as they're engaged......It's just WEIRD.
Rodrigo, Benja, Carvajal, Amador, Angel, Prefecto, Lola, Yoyita, Veronica, and maybe more. Depending on how long the show lasts, one wrong move by any of them could put them in Julian's sights.
Hombre, so true! Julián's hit list is like a greedy child's Christmas list, it just goes on and on. (Too bad Loca Lucía never seems to have crossed him) The only thing that will stop his evil is his death.
Yes, he and Piedad do have a weirdly chaste relationship. I suppose they both use her pregnancy as an excuse. But you can almost see Piedad's logic battling with her instincts when she's with Julián. Often she seems to recoil at his touch (instinct), but her logical brain tells her to trust him and go to him for protection. I'm more and more convinced that the lot of them are Foreign Med School Grads -- they probably met up at the University of Barbados or something. jejeje!
Pedro Pablo breaks up the catfight and tells them both to cut it out as Lola insist she has had enough of this nonsense. Pedro warns her about making scenes at his work place and if she doesn't stop this. I'm not sure if he said she will have to leave or he'll leave but it certainly left Loca Lucia smirking behind his back.
Rodrigo talks to Benja about his suspicions as he and Benja go back and forth with another person telling Rodrigo he's just jealous of Julian marrying Piedad.Benja ask do you really believe that Julian is capable of doing that to the mother of his child? Rodrigo says yes you don't understand how cold and calculating Julian is.
Piedad opens the smaller box and sees all of the baby things and is smiling happily she then opens the bigger box. She takes out the wrapping as she sees something she takes out one of the jars with a heart in it. Still not realizing what she is holding in her hands.
Daniel comes out from hiding as he shoots off a warning shot, he demands his money from Julian now. Julian throws the money to him and Daniel counts it and sees that it is short of what he wanted. Julian tells him that's the best he could do for now under the circumstances. Daniel doesn't believe him and knows the cops are looking for him. Julian tries to lie and act innocent but Daniel tells him he's got a little surprise for him also sent to his house.
Julian bristles at the threat as he ask what does he mean? Daniel tells him he wants the rest of the money he asked him for by tomorrow or he'll turn all of the evidence he has over to the cops.
Luisa gets the phone call that Julian on purpose lost his tail, she declares to Amador see why would he do that if he doesn't have anything to hide?
Piedad looks further in the big box and spies Mauricio's head in a jar so goes into hysterics. Yelling and screaming in terror and in fear.
Valeria introduces herself to the new counselor who took Daniela's place. He lets Valeria speak to the group as she ask if anyone knows who Daniel Vidal is or what he looks like. She is doing this in a effort to get Rodrigo set free.
Rodrigo and Benja talk more about Rodrigo's suspicions.
Piedad back away from the boxes gets it together and calls not the cops but Julian she's crying in terror over what was sent. Julian tries to get her to calm down and explain what she's saying she yells Mauricio's head and she wants him to come quickly.
Julian ask Daniel what did he do as Daniel taunts him about messing with him Julian threatens Daniel. Daniel warns Julian that his threats are useless with him and he should be worried about his little girlfriend.Julian is angered telling Daniel that she is pregnant and that she is his woman. Daniel scoffs at that and tells Julian he doesn't have anyone as a matter fact he doesn't want him nothing.Julian leaves as Daniel counts the money.
Julian finds Piedad scared and out of her mind terrified on the floor as he goes inside and sees the box with the hearts and Mauricio's head.
He brings Piedad inside who wants him to call the cops he says no it will cause problems and he is sure it's Rodrigo's accomplice who did this in order to set him free. Man this guy's got a answer for everything doesn't he? Piedad wants to go to her own apartment as Julian argues why he tries to calm her down by saying she is hysterical at the moment and isn't thinking clearly. Piedad wants him to call the cops as Julian again says no there's no need then she wants to go back to her apartment she doesn't give him a great choice. He has to choose either the cops are called or he lets her go to her house.
Rodrigo ask Benja to think about it why when Eva was in charge of the case she accused all of them himself ,you and Piedad but never Julian? Why is that because she was in love with him and he manipulates people. You can see Benja is processing this info.
Piedad at home settles down but her memory is remembering Mauricio's head in the jar. She frantically calls Benja who is leaving Rodrigo. He ask if she's crying as Piedad ask him to come to her place right now. Benja ask why she isn't at Julian's did something happen? Piedad tells him she can't discuss it over the phone but for him to hurry and get here please.
Julian stands in his apartment as he looks at the surprise that Daniel sent him he remembers Daniel taunting him with he'll make sure he doesn't anything.
Julian gets out the cell he used to call Daniela on to call information about Daniel's lawyer.
Piedad ask Benja about the murders? Luisa says to Amador there are a lot of things about Julian that need explaining.Julian walks down a hallway. Julian visits Rodrigo at the rehab clinic he taunts him as both have to be separated before coming to blows.
NovelaMaven great list i would say that Daniel's lawyer is definitely at the top of Julian's murder list now. I wonder how he's going to explain if he does get rid of him why would Daniel Vidal kill off his lawyer who had evidence to prove he's not "El Cazador"? Also the evidence may not be at he lawyers office so Julian may not have easy access to get it so easily. Unless of course he tortures him to get that important info.
What i'm disappointed with the Rodrigo and Benja pow wow was them both not bringing up the picture but how Julian also went along with Benja hiding the heart that was sent to the clinic.
Blusamurai, good point about how, if Julian kills the lawyer, why would Daniel kill his own lawyer who had his evidence? Problem is, only Daniel and we, the viewing audience know this. Julian, ever resourceful, could say that Sandberg was HIS lawyer, and that Daniel killed him to HIDE the evidence that proved that DANIEL did it!
Or maybe both the lawyer and the evidence would disappear. This could definitely work for Julian, and he did that with Mauricio. The police might not even think he was dead. Also, who are they going to believe, that dangerous, convicted killer Daniel Vidal, or upstanding, kind, supportive, Doctor of Medicine Julian Garcia? :)
Teresa remember's el güero's warning to her:
p.10: ... y le tiraba el teléfono encima de la falda. Si alguna vez suena, es que me habré muerto. Entonces, corre. Cuanto puedas, prietita. Corre y no pares, porque ya no estaré allí para ayudarte. Y si llegas viva a donde sea, échate un tequila en mi memoria.
... and he was tossing the phone in her lap. If it ever rings, it means I'm dead. Then run. As far as you can, my love. Run and don't stop because I won't be there to help you. And if you manage to get out alive, wherever you may be, have a tequila in my memory.
prietita: diminutive of prieta, dark-skinned, lit. "my little dark-skinned girl"
Hombre right now Luisa is suspecting Julian despite Daniel Vidal being on the scene. I think if she thinks about this calmly does Daniel Vidal have a medical background? The police have determine that the killer has to work in the medical profession abd be a doctor being able to cut out the hearts like he has ans sew the bodies back up.
Another thing that irritates me about Mauricio's disappearance they never checked his laptop. Julian did delete the files that Mauricio had on him but as we have seen on shows like CSI or Law and Order you can still recover deleted files from a computer.
It's funny everyone once they find some crucial evidence to the case they either hide it. See Benja and the gang with the heart being manipulated by Julian.
They either tell Julian giving him a heads up see Benja and Rodrigo about the picture. Tatiana about Rodrigo's escape. Matilde about Mauricio or what he's been telling her.
They tell or call each other about something they've come across but eventually Julian finds out from the person what the other told them.
But no one ever calls the darn police.
Hi evreryone. I want to comment about this "But no one ever calls the darn police".
Blu, I believe that was the case in the original, and up until recently in this version. The friends didn't trust the police as much as they trusted each other so this made things easier for Julian. But lately, these characters, well, at least Rodrigo and Valeria, have told everything they know to the police and that doesn't help at all! This has made the police look even worse. They do have enough evidence to at least suspect Julian strongly and prevent more murders! but there is no use with these cops!
Does anyone feel that Tatiana will be the next victim? Have you noticed how she says anything without thinking, isn't this one of the things that sets Julian off? Remember how when she went to see Rodrigo the first thing was "what did you do to Matilde?".
Aeryn i can't comment on the original since i didn't see it all i can go by is this version. I will say at first the friends stuck together covering up for each other and there trusted the cops. Piedad when she was consider got Julian to lie for her. Rodrigo wasn't honest about his relationship with Blanca Gordon. By the time the accusation got sent Benja's way he knew he had to lie and let's face Eva like i said before over stepped doing things the right way way.
As Hombre pointed out she got too personally involved and emotionally attached to this case. Her objectivity was invisible any little piece of evidence she jump right on it and start to badger who she suspected was the killer.
I like the fact that Rodrigo pointed this out in Friday's episode why is it out of the four friends. Every single one of them has been accused by Eva at one time or another but never Julian? That statement even made Benja pause and think about it.
Go back to the beginning after the murder of Maria Carpenter at the party all four of them became the suspect of the police but Julian that what even Eva herself said to Luisa but she never accused Julian like she did the other three.
Nellie it's possible that Tatiana will be a victim of Julian's but i don't believe she will be his next victim on his list. It seems like Daniel Vidal's lawyer and possibly Valeria after him might be a higher priority for Julian.
Hombre you're right knowing Julian he may be able to explain away killing Daniel Vidal's lawyer but if he kills Valeria he really is going to have to come up with something really good over her murder. Especially if Rodrigo is still locked up.
"OK, I'll probably get flamed for this, but oh well."
I sure hope not, Novelera. In addition to being a spoiler-free blog, this has always been a flame-free blog as well! Let civility reign!
I have to agree that commenting on what is GOING to happen (rather than on what has happened or what you think may happen) is out of place here. Sometimes it's a fine line, but guys -- if it feels 'spoilerish', it would be better not to post it.
As for brief vs lengthy resumés, in this context -- and as I've said before -- I also vote for brevity in relating events. For me, it's much more fun to read your reflections about what happened. And really, the comments here have been fantastic in that regard.
I don’t really watch this one, but one of the many scenes I peeked in on was la boda de Juan & Julieta. I’ve noticed that TN wedding ceremonies in churches aren’t much of a mass/ceremony. A lot of eye contact and chatter, a big declaration, and it’s over. Nitpicky, but… the keyword here is TN. A mí, me gustaría tener una misa completa.
Considering the devious Paula/Pedro plan, I’m very surprised Julieta had the testicular fortitude to go through with the wedding. Hmm…
ALGUIEN—Friday, Monday
My former employer, the local sheriff’s office, possesses some cool Fords and Dodges… (Mustangs, Chargers, Explorers, etc.) It’s locura that Chicago P.D. can’t provide less-obvious unmarked cars for undercover tails! Tisk, tisk.
RE: Cazador’s next target—looks perilous for Edward. I’m not sure which is worse: sinners in the hand of an angry God, or Google Earth/gps in the hands of a serial killer. GPS and 411 are great tools, but it’s disturbing how the unwell can pervert their uses (Julián, Jared Loughner, etc.).
Thanks to everyone for adding info on this show. Your insight helps me catch things that I often miss since spoken Spanish is sometimes a bit too fast for me to follow.~*
Wedding preparations and flashbacks took up most of the episode but Eleuterio did give Guadalupe all the letters his wife had sent her. We heard her voice so I'm sure she'll be on the scene shortly.
Yep, things don't look good for Daniel's lawyer. And with Julian having given the name Daniel Vidal when he called to the secretary, the cops could have another clue that points toward Daniel if the lawyer turns up dead.
Benja has been manipulated by Julian, again, and now believes Julian is as much of a victim as they are. Arrrg! Now Julian even knows about Rod's accusations. I don't understand why Piedad is SO upset that Benja told Julian about Rod's accusations, when Julian has been going around for weeks being the primary person accusing Rod? Sure he doesn't do it in a hot headed passionate way like Rod, but he's always whispering in her ear and to the police about Rod being the likely killer.
Tati is letting go of some of her anger towards Camila and Benja, even offering to pay for college for Camila so that she can support herself eventually, and saying she'll let Benja see his kids. But she can't let go of the hurt and I don't think it's fair of Benja, Camila, or anyone else to ask her to. What her sister and husband did to her is unforgivable.
The show seems to be brazen in its breaking of telenovela "rules". I was surprised that Julieta went through with the wedding, knowing that Juan had just been unfaithful. Maybe a little bit of Rosa has rubbed off on her, and she's more concerned with appearances than what's good and just. This breaking of the "rule" means that Paula, who is ostensibly "bad", could actually end up with Juan. In fact, if she doesn't, the show could just end here, and of course it's just getting started. The bottom line may be that none of the characters is completely good or bad, all are flawed. Most novelas have clear cut lines, but a number of them blur these lines, and it makes the show more interesting.
Although Julian keeps using his amazing brain, physical prowess and other resources to stay one step ahead of the cops, Luisa Carvajal is really making some progress now. She's very suspicious of Julian, and told Amador 1) why were there no fingerprints (huellas) on the jars with the hearts? 2) why did Julian have to elude the tail, what does he have to hide, and 3) could his accumulating large amounts of money by selling paintings be the prelude to leaving the country? She's wrong with number 3, but feels that Julian needs to answer a number of questions. The problem with that is, he's really good at answering them, and that let's him find out what the cops are up to. Drat!
The Pedro Pablo situation keeps deteriorating, as Lola has kicked both Lucy AND him out of the house, which doesn't upset Lucy one bit.
Wasn't that wild when Baltazar told Julian he saw him dump that body in the lake? Does Julian count on the fact that Baltazar is nuts, or could Baltzar be added to the victim list?
I think the problem is that Paula is the main heroine but the writers wrote her as being very resentful and her intent is revenge because she didn't get acknowledge by her father. I think they wrote her character a little too hard and bitter for most people to take.
Coupled with her gloating and scheming plot with her mother yeah i can understand why so many have been complaining about her as the lead. Maybe if they had interjected a little softness in her character and shown more vulnerability it may have made her better to take.
Hombre it looks like you're right i didn't know how they were going to stretch this novela out for another three weeks or more. But it seems like they are setting up more potential victims for Julian.
To think i was only joking about a week ago that most of the characters might get killed by the time this is over.
He just set it up that Daniel Vidal can take the fall, but i'm glad Luisa is definitely questioning him and suspecting him. When i saw him cleaning the jars i was saying that's a big mistake he's making right there.
He had to take the jars out of the box so why in the world would he not have fingerprints on them.
I think right now with so many people being told he's the killer, Julian is over thinking things so he can't get caught.
I don't know what he was trying to do when he went to visit Rodrigo, did he go there to find out or get info from Rodrigo on how much he knew. That was a great scene though between them both.
I was hoping when Daniel found the card on the floor he was going to call his lawyer and tell him to be careful.
Blusamari: I thought that originally Daniel had dropped the card and Julian picked it up, which is how he was able to know whO Daniel's lawyer was and how to find him. Was julian smart enough to put the card back where he found it so Daniel wouldn't get suspicious?
I thought about the fingerprints as well. Wouldn't it have been obvious to Julian that he shouldn't have rubbed them all off?
I was disappointed that Tati still hasn't been able to let go of her anger. The bottom line is that she is feeling angry and upset at recent developments and needs some support as well, since Matilde is unavailable. I'm not saying she should welcome Camila and Benja with open arms, but her rancor is not useful to herself. I agree with Vivi: that her offering money for school for Camila was a good solution --for Camila and for assuaging her guilt at throwing Camila out of her house.
Re: NovelaMaven's comment: Since Novelamaven was instrumental in getting this Telemundo "Discuss among Yourselves" going and setting up the procedure, I think she has the right to make other suggestions. I also think that others have the right to give their opinions --but why with so much anger? On another Caray blog, the person who set that up complained that someone was "trying to prove others wrong."Melinama also weighed in about the purpose of the blog not being to prove others wrong. As I see it, the purpose is to respond, agree and DISAGREE, which might prove someone wrong, but to do it with RESPECT and not use the blog to vent anger.
Well, they got hitched. I was surprised. I expected one of them to back out at the altar. The best part was Paula's disappointed face.
I'm not sure if Julieta is just going to clam up about Pedro's video or confront Juan with it. In any case, Pedro is sure looking like a rat at this point.
I was pleased to see Eleuterio gave Lupe the letters. I hope we get to see her mother and get to the bottom of what happened.
It appears significant to me that Julián wiped all prints off the jars containing the hearts. Piedad told the cops she unwrapped them and put them on a table (I think). So why wouldn't her fingerprints be on at least one?
Why does Valeria always wear those funny gloves?
I think Julián put back the card to keep DV from knowing he's going after the lawyer.
I just want to scream when Julián whines that the killer is after him. He loves to ask for sympathy.
I wasn't happy big-mouth Benja had to tell Julián about Rod believing he's El Cazador.
Poor Pedro Pablo. Although what he should have done was convince his wife that he's as upset Lucy is there as she is.
That was one great scene between Julián and Rodrigo in the rehab facility.
Looks like Amador is coming around to Carvajal's way of thinking about Julián, a very good sign. But where's the car that's supposed to be tailing him when he pulls up at the lawyer's office?
NJ Sue apparently Julian is more clever than we thought, it seems he memorized the name of the lawyer that's why when he got home after everything that had happened he called info and asked about where the lawyer was then he later used google. But he's over thinking like i said he should have left the jars like they were. Cleaning them down to wipe away his fingerprints it made no sense to Luisa why they couldn't find Piedad's fingerprints.
Vivi's point about this was excellent i think this is the best that Tatiana can do. It's not a typical affair her husband had one with her sister and some people it seems aren't putting a emphasis on the one he had with her cousin also.
I believe that it's possible that Tatiana might have forgiven him if it was a typical affair. I'm saying might because her personality is strong but it's her sense of betrayal. Think about how she reacted to all of them standing in her house after she learned about the affair and her words and her response to them covering up for Benja. There was no loyalty towards her from any of them.
The one person who was loyal to her Matilde didn't know because she was just as clueless as Tatiana she found out at the same time. Even though Tatiana took a lot of her anger out on her she later realized this is the only friend i really have and has stood by me.
Last night was sort of gesture of closure for Tatiana she'll let Benja see his kids and pay for Camila's tuition but that is the best she can do.
First of all, I apologize for posting a preview without a warning that it could be considered spoilerish. I really didn't see it that way because it was a promo that Telemundo was showing on TV. Also, when I mention the original, it is usually about events that already occurred or about how certain aspects of the characters were different. And even if I wanted I could not write a spoiler anymore because this version has deviated a lot from the original plot so now it will be hard to go back to it. I will be more careful in the future.
Also, I am new here so I really didn't know what the rules were, but I do appreciate the long summaries, specially when I miss an episode and can't wait to get home to watch my recording. Thanks to all the recappers for their amazing job :)
Wow last night's episode was wow!
I couldn't believe that Tatiana slept with Angel but of course she had to be slightly drunk and tipsy to go all the way. Angel did try to say no at first but i guess she wanted to prove she was still attractive to men especially one who's not her cheating husband.I think that was a look of regret and repulsion when she woke up sober after what she had done with Angel.
Luisa is fully believing that Julian could be the killer she could barely contain herself waiting to get the ok from the perfecto guy. What does that mean is he the head of the police force we know Angel is the prosecutor.I like how they laid out their suspicions to him and he went to get Angel's agreement. The Perfecto tells Angel how things aren't just adding up and they have to start suspecting Julian.
Yoyita i feel sorry for her what a thankless job she has and Lola is just looney.
But Loca Lucia is plain straight out bonkers glad Pedro Pablo told her he's not moving in with her. He'll take care of his responsibility as a father to his child but that it go move in with your mother. I'm still confused how they're going with this storyline or how it will end?
Lola of course turns on a TV in Matilde's room and she sees the news about wanting info on who killed the gas station attendant and the killing of Mauricio and gets agitated. Lola unsuspecting ask her if it's Rodrigo who is the killer and assures her she will get in contact Julian and Tatiana to let them know how upset she is. Not knowing every time she mentions Julian's name to Matilde she is upsetting her.
I posted something on TW about the confrontation between Rodrigo and Julian. I really liked how both actors showed the contrast between their characters.
Julian is a psychopath and controls his emotions (in this case his anger and hatred which he only showed with his eyes) and Rodrigo in contrast, who is so human and temperamental, was able to control himself but you could feel his struggle in all his face and body and specially in his voice. Rodrigo has progressed though, because he did manage to control himself nicely, take the verbal punches but return them by pushing some of Julian's buttons. I just love it when he does that. He torments him with Piedad, the only aspect in which Julian will never be the "winner". Rodrigo is an underdog, but certainly not a loser.
I also loved his sweet words to Valeria, who deserves all of his gratitude, friendship, love. She is great and smart. I really like how she has evolved and I love that she has instincts that will hopefully protect her from Julian. Too bad Piedad is going to visit Rodrigo and give him more hope. She certainly doesn't help the poor guy move on, ugh!
Aeryn i don't believe anything you said was spoilerish you were replying to my question why know one ever calls the police. I believe i listed who Julian's potential victims or possible victims maybe. In a mystery such as this we're at the point of guessing who his next victims are and when he's going to get caught. Who is going to finally end his reign of terror? When people were speculating about this a couple of weeks back i didn't see anything wrong with it. Nor do i see anything wrong with the statements and questions asked so far,but to each his own.
As for tonight's episode i just don't believe after what Julian did last night three killings he's going to stop.
Several things to keep in mind he shot and killed Daniel Vidal but he places the gun in the lawyer's hand but he doesn't shoot the gun off in the lawyers hand. Those of us who watch the CSI programs know gun residue it may be very mininum left on the lawyer's hand but it should indicate a lot from the three bullets shot.
I know Daniel Vidal is a hunter but i don't believe he's as skilled with a knife like a doctor is taking out a heart perfectly and sewing back up the body like Julian did. Also how would Daniel know where to stab him correctly in a major artery to kill the lawyer?
One thing that annoyed the heck out of me was as cautios as Daniel has been he doesn't noticed the secretary's fallen objects or the turned over chair in the receptionist room? Also the lawyer after seeing his secretary stabbed to death in front of him he remains frozen and doesn't go for his gun? Not believeable.
I loved Valeria working the crowd at the clinic and getting on the guards good side so she can get in to see Rodrigo.
I loved also what Valeria told Rodrigo on how blind Piedad is to Julian and he can't convince her or no one can about him. I most especially enjoyed Rodrigo finally kissing her i don't know if was a kiss of gratitude but i think it's a beginning.
Before i wasn't so keen on them ending up together but Aeryn i agree Valeria has matured and evolved nicely and i would be glad to see her end up with Rodrigo when this ends. Certainly in my book Pidad doesn't deserve him i don't care when she goes begging him to forgive her tomorrow for doubting him. That's not the point and she probably doesn't get is she agreed to marry Julian. Now unless she is calling off the wedding i hope Rodrigo tells her tomorrow he'll be there for their child but they are over. I know that probably won't happen but one can wish.
I don't believe anyone mentioned in Monday's episode Benja did ask her to postpone her wedding but she got defensive with him.
I'm thinking with a couple of still potential victims floating around that will be Julian's downfall. He set it up that Daniel Vidal is "El Cazador" but he has to think about what Baltazar told him about seeing him dump the body by the lake. Then there is Valeria and how she is helping Rodrigo. As a matter of fact because of his latest killing spree and setting up Daniel Vidal as "El Cazador" this should get Rodrigo out of being locked up. We all know how much he hates Rodrigo, but i can't see him killing him off because Rodrigo is like the main hero in this even with his flaws.Let's not forget Matilde or Tatiana i'm not looking forward to Lola telling him how Matilde reacted upon seeing the news.
I'm looking forward to tonight's episode Luisa and perfecto grilling Julian. I want to see how he's going to talk himself out of their suspicions. We all have seen how quick he is he has a answer for everything.Annoying as heck but enjoyable and frustrating to watch.
That was one frightening episode! Julián is truly a sadist. How he enjoys gloating over his victims! We learned a bit more about his past and the abuse by his mother, although it's not clear yet if it was sexual abuse or beatings, or what. And it seems he tried to get Vidal to come to his aid.
Say, if I'm ever laid up in the hospital, I hope Lola doesn't come to visit! She's a basket case. I enjoyed Yoyita telling her the truth: that she's insoportable.
I wonder if it's possible Ángel was interrupted before anything happened with Tati?
Valeria was quite charming in this episode. And Piedad, by contrast, completely hysterical. Nah, they're not going to pull a switcheroo and let Rod and Valeria end up together.
Great comments on last night's crazy episode. Julian really seems to be in a killing frenzy now. I don't see how he will stop killing. But then how would any additional killings play into the scene he just set up of the Cazador being killed?
Lolo was getting on my nerves this episode. I hate when she acts like Pedro Pablo purposely impregnated Lucy, when she knows how it all happened against his will. And it's her fault that Lucy blackmailed her way into their house. She needs to take responsibility for her role in worsening the situation. She never does, and PP always takes responsibility for everything. However, PP and Lucy moving out of the house might not be a bad move, if PP stays strong and does not end up living with Lucy (please no). That way Lucy doesn't get her way-- she doesn't get PP, and she doesn't get to annoy Lola in her home.
Valeria was my favorite this episode as well. I hope she doesn't get killed. I would prefer that the writers find another love for her than kill her off (to make a clean path for Piedad back to Rod at the end).
One of the best episodes ever, even if it was also very upsetting. Lola is so funny to me, she always says just the wrong thing, without meaning to. She acts before she thinks, with disastrous results. But somehow, that's charming to me. I also think she's very pretty, so maybe that's why I'm so easy on her.
We should not get our hopes up too much about the crime scene. Of course, there are flaws, just as there were at Rodrigo's house, when he woke up with Daniela and drugs all over the place. But Angel and the initial police response will probably be that this wraps up the whole case, Daniel Vidal did it, and Rodrigo goes free.
How could it have happened? 1) Daniel Vidal saw a pretty secretary. He started seducing her. He then heard the lawyer in the inner office calling out. He dragged the secretary in with a knife at her throat, and killed her in front of the stunned lawyer. The lawyer started to call the police. Daniel stabbed him a few times, thinking he was dead, as he slumped into the chair. Then Daniel cut out the girl's heart, put it in a bag, and sewed her back up. At this point, the lawyer woke up, grabbed his gun, said you'll never get away with it. Daniel whirled to face the lawyer, who shot him three times.
At first, no one will think about the gun residue, or may the lawyer was left-handed. Hopefully in a few weeks, Carvajal, who may be the only one left who thinks the case isn't closed, could think of these things.
BTW, I was also disappointed that the lawyer didn't just shoot Julian, but I guess he froze.
I believe the prefect's name is Jiménez.
I really enjoyed this episode. Not only did they have Julieta in her sexy nightwear, and later in a bikini, but they introduced a new character, the lawyer, Gustavo. I think we saw him earlier, but now he's more a part of the story. Apparently, he's agreed to get the judge to give the house to Paula through a document called something like an Order of Possession. Paula and/or Sofia may be paying him off. But at the end of the episode, JOSE wants to pay him off, too. What's a crooked lawyer to do?
We also have a new little story with Rosario, spurned by Lucas, but discovering in Amador, the shy ranch hand, a common love of orange juice. How romantic :) Amador is searching for his long lost big brother. Could it be one of the Del Montes?
Just to clarify my scenario as to the crime scene, I meant to say that the lawyer, in a last gasp before dying from the knife wounds, shoots Daniel 3 times.
It was sad to see Camila say goodbye to the kids, and even sadder to see her in that breadline. Doesn't she have those party happy friends, and could crash at their house for a few days? But I guess they're showing us that she's hitting bottom, and will probably now turn her life around, go to school, and start wearing unsexy clothing. Darn!
Hombre- You are so funny. Being a good girl does not have to mean that you lose the sexy clothing. Uber good girl Tati has some of the most sexy clothes in the show. :)
Yes, Gustavo is not only a crooked lawyer he apparently has also sampled Sofia's charms. [The actor played, Malcom, the evil butler in Pasión de Gavilanes].
Hey Julieta, when you decide to marry a guy whom you know shacked up with somebody else the night before your wedding, it doesn't make sense to keep asking why he doesn't seem to be having a great time on his honeymoon.
Hey Lucas, when your brother zooms off on his motorcylce totally drunk, you might want to follow him then, not wait 'til the next morning.
I bet that Amador's missing older bro is one of the hijos del Monte.
Did Rosa's drunken toast at the wedding suggest that she had had an affair with the libidinous Emiliano del Monte?
Hombre i'm going to disagree with you because Luisa had the jars checked for fingerprints i believe even though it looks like the case is neatly tied up and closed she will check for gun residue on the lawyer.I think only then can she put to rest her suspicions about Julian. One other thing you didn't cover Daniel is not a doctor he may be a hunter but i don't believe hunters know how to cut a heart out of a person so neatly like has been done to the victims. Nor does he know how to sew them back up like a doctor would be able to do who is a surgeon.
One other thing during the news when it showed the gas station where the attendant was murdered they were asking anyone to come forward with information about this murder. Remember the car that stop there i guess to get gas and saw the attendant face down. While Julian was inside the store getting the surveillance camera. It's possible that man who looked outside his window will remember the car parked there at the time and some of the license plate number.
Vivi i agree i do believe that Julian is in killing frenzy i don't believe he's going to be satisfied with what he did last night nor will he stop.
If he does kill again i suspect he definitely has to change MO which he did already with Mauricio. The closer the net gets to capturing him the more desperate he'll become.
After last night's episode i am rooting big time for Rodrigo to ditched Piedad once and for all and go with Valeria. It may not happen but it's what i would like to see happen. I'm tired of Piedad and i liked how repulsed Valeria was remembering meeting Julian and she is definitely sure he's the killer.
The good news Rodrigo should be set free now, which will be a thorn in Julian's side.
I'm the one who's eating crow today because the wedding did happen. Who's betting on Paula attempting to arrange an "accident" when Juan and Julieta get home?
Pedro and Lucas are both idiots. Pedro for making a deal with the devil and Lucas for not taking the blinders off. Both for the accident.
As for Rosa, if this is to be taken as a prediction of future behavior, I'd advise Rosario and Consuelo to elope when their time comes.
I know Lucia wanted PP to move in with her, but I thought he refused and said there would be nothing between them. But after their discussion she didn't seem too happy. I thought he convinced her that he would not move in with her.
I was hoping Lola would have the smarts to try to get Matilde to blink her eyes for yes and no.
Ann-NYC
Blusamurai, you are totally right in your analysis of Julian's problems with the crime scene, the gas station, etc. I just think that the rest of the police (mainly Angel) will want to wrap everything up, and probably order Luisa to drop it. But she won't.
At this point, there are 5 main people who suspect Julian: Luisa, Matilda, Rodrigo, Valeria and Baltazar. Unfortunately, that also makes them the most likely targets!
I have to tell you I was repulsed by last night's episode, geez, I like good old american tv where they would not prolong a scene like that. This novela has crossed the line for me, novelas were for enjoyment to shout out at the characters what was he thinking? or how could she/he be so stupid? This novela like the Argentine series Epitfios (I hope I spelled it correctly)is just too close to home for me. I have to say congratulations to the writers, but on the other hand, I live real life 24 hours a day, I want to escape in novelas so I hope this type will only be produced every few years and not become a mainstay. The actor who plays Julian should win every award there is for acting. I have to say Valeria has been a welcome addition to the cast.
It looks like Gaspar and José may suspect that their family lawyer is on the side of Sofía and Paula. That guy does sleazy lawyer very well. He played Mauricio Ochmann's sleazy boss in Victoria. I had a passing thought that maybe Paula is HIS child instead of Emilio's. Was there ever any DNA evidence?
I could just kick Juan for looking miserable all the time on his honeymoon. Of course, that's Cimarro's natural expression, so a smile from him is beyond rare.
Do we assume that Consuelo did the deed with Johnny? And Rosario, of course, remained virtuous. I like that new ranch hand she spent the night with. Lucas is an idiot, passing up a lovely, unaffected girl for a snake in female form.
Vivi, I feel the same way about Lola. She behaves like a spoiled child most of the time. Her husband did NOT have conscious sex with Lucy. Lucy would NOT be in their house except for her crazy plan to get her beat up by a thug. She accepts no responsibility for any of this. I think some of her behavior is because she's self-conscious about her weight. She deep down has doubts that her husband would prefer her to the center-fold body of Lucy.
Boy, Rafael Amaya would be up for an Oscar if this were a movie instead of a TN. He scares the crap out of me. Sometimes he reminds me of Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lector.
Thanks, Hombre, for your logical explanation of how the police will likely interpret the crime scene at Edward's office. I'm going to miss Daniel Vidal. It was great to see Julián on the defensive and scared.
Hombre you're right about Angel would see this as a way to close this case once and for all but as you said i don't think Luisa would settle for that i expect her to keep digging. This is why i'm looking forward to Rodrigo getting set free i'm pretty sure he would like to explain to Luisa all of his suspicions as he has told all of his visitors who have visited him lately.
I'm going to have to correct you three people strongly suspect Julian. Luisa, Rodrigo and Valeria. Two know for a fact he is "El Cazador" Matilde( who can't move or talk to let others know) and Baltazar ( the crazy drugged out drug dealer).
Nellie i watched the Epitafios series it was good but very graphic last night's episode on Alguien was pretty tamed compared to that one. That was also a good mystery at least the first one was the second one was about catching the new serial killer. I agree i have been very impressed with two performances in this novela Rafael Amaya's as Julian and Geraldine Bazan as Tatiana.
Geraldine played as the little girl Aimme in Corazon Salvage in 1993. She was also in Maria Del barrio and Camila.
It was interesting that the song we hear that we associate with Julian and his mother's abuse was played by Daniel Vidal when the mother was abusing Julian. And Daniel's rationalization for why he didn't intervene was sickening.
I don't think that Piedad took the heart jars out of the box. There were pieces of plastic over them. I recall that she removed them and looked in and freaked out.If she didn't take them out, I am thinking when Caraval questions him that Julian could say that he purposely didn't touch the jars, or wore rubber gloves, so as not to contaminate the evidence. Also, I've been thinking about how he will get out of how he knew Matilde was in the hospital if she didn't have her bag with her. He can insist that he was called (maybe they got her I.D. from her registration which could have been in the car)and has no idea how they knew to call him. The calling part would only be circumstantial if they wanted to use it against him.
With Rodrigo locked up and Daniel killed, Julian is really going to be in trouble. There are no other real suspects.
Re Valeria: I don't know whether it is because the actress playing her annoys me because her acting is so limited. She has about 2 different faces and always seems so petulant. Last night was the first time she played something else, and I agree with the others that she was likeable. I don't see her ending up with Rodrigo, but I also don't think Julian will kill her. In this stage, he seems to only be killing people who might have real evidence against him.
Re Yoyita: I don't feel sorry for her. She has egged Lola on to do some really stupid things and is also responsible for Lucia winding up in Lola's house. Don't forget it was her idea and contact to "scare" Lucy. Yoyita was the one who destroyed all Lucy's underwear, not Lola. You wonder about Lola and Benja's upbringing. They both seem to be without impulse control, although Benja is improving.
Re Angel: I dont get him. He seemed like an insensitive ladies man at first. Then he behaved like a mensch with Tatiana. Now he sleeps with her when she is drunk.
The Prefect:Does anyone know what a "prefect" is in American jursprudence?
I am really looking forward to the "contest" between Caraval and Julian tonight. And I agree with whoever said that the actor playing Julian should win an award for his performance. It is both subtle and effective. He doesn't make faces. It's all in the eyes, or the tension in his face, or the way he sweeps his hair back when he is distressed.
Piedad did take one of the jars out of the box and held it in her hands she didn't realize at first what it was until she moved some of the plastic stuffing around and saw the big jar with Mauricio's head in it.
That's why when Luisa and Amador went to question her they asked if she touched anything and she told them yes.So it will not add up to Julian trying to explain he wore gloves and didn't want to leave his fingerprints on them. If that was just the case Piedad's fingerprints would have still shown up even if smudge a little by him wearing gloves. But as we saw he thoroughly cleaned and wiped down each jar individually leaving not one trace of either his or Piedad's fingerprints.
Yoyita did indeed cut up and ruined Loca Lucia's undies the first time. The clothes that Lola bought to the clinic and dumped all over the floor she ruined those all by herself.
I also can wait for the test of wills between Luisa and Julian his big mistake now is his arrogance trying to out smart everyone. He has succeeded by knowing those he has killed and those he has in his inner circle. He gets by on being able to manipulate and mislead others with his charm. Unwittingly those in his inner circle have given him the heads up where the case is headed or who is suspected.
Let's not forget his romance of Eva gave him a definite advantage of inside information.Right now like i said he's over thinking too much in order not to get himself implicated and he does get off on out smarting the cops.
Most serial killers as we have seen in the movies or TV shows like to show and gloat to the police how superior they are in their thinking that not even the cops can catch them. There's just too many little things that don't add up.
Yes i can see Angel quickly accepting this and wanting to go to the press right away with "El Cazador" has been killed and close the case. It's Luisa who i have hopes for in not letting this go until all of her suspicions are answered.
OTOH, I love the character of Valeria and I find the actress very charming and natural. I think she has range, even though she has been tormented in most of her scenes, so maybe she hasn't had a chance to show many "faces" but I really see nothing wrong with her acting.
Maybe it has to do with the acting style and personal taste. I tend to lean towards non Televisa school actors. I like subtle, natural acting. When the actors lose themselves into the characters and you really dont feel any "acting". When people take themselves too seriously, it shows. You can feel them posing for the spotlight. Amaya kind of does that. The stroking of the hair is a gimmick and drives me nuts. My taste tend to go against the current though so I am sure he will get all the awards :D
I, too, thought about the implausible disregard for ballistics/trajectory. But that’s probably a detail that we’ll have to tighten our beanies over. If the detectives do notice that discrepancy, then olé.
As for Juli, “sadistic” is just too kind of word to describe him. Worse yet, his façade is soooo normal and guy-next-door! Frickin’ scary… He’s a pro at wiggling out of questions. What’ll make his interrogation more interesting is how convincing he always looks. *shudder* Amaya has always been Hopkins-esque.
Vivi, I’m also still scratching my head about why he’d get rid of the one person he was trying to paint as El Cazador… Qué?
Suspiro Tati, Tati… Soon, vamos a enterar lo que pasó entre los dos. (I’ve also always thought Lola is pretty, too. And, Edward, well, it’s common for people to freeze when frightened. That was fairly realistic…)
Erin, I don't think Julián could risk letting the cops capture Daniel alive. He might tell too convincing a story about Julián. He might have good alibis for the times the other victims (before Eva) were killed.
What was Daniel Vidal's reason for not helping Julian when his Mother was abusing him? I missed that part.
Arkibel:
For one thing, Daniel Vidal said that as the stepfather, he didn't think he had the right to meddle in things between his wife and his stepson. I guess he also didn't want to lose the affections of Julian's mother by calling her out on her abuse. But this all sounded pretty weak to Julian (and to us in the audience). He really should have acted. Of course, this doesn't forgive what Julian has been doing, though.
Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I hate last night's show awful as soon as they bought in Julian and didn't discover the bodies yet. You had to know he was going to get out of it.
Annoyed not only by Julian getting away still but with Lola and Tatiana talking over someone who can't move but looks agitated and upset. How about calling a darn doctor to check up on her well being?
Piedad doesn't have the right to question the police just do what they ask and get out of the way.I loved Luisa in this episode.
I loved the interrogation and just my opinion when Luisa threw down that picture of Eva wearing his mother's dress i thought he was going to lose it but then they were interrupted by Angel at this crucial moment.Arrrrrrrrrrgh! I did like the perfecto laying out how he didn't get along with Mauricio and his relationships with Rocio,Eva and Daniela before that.
As much as i was angry with Valeria when she visited Rodrigo before and told him about Piedad living with Julian. I was furious with Piedad after her visit last night i am so done with her i would never support her ending up with Rodrigo under any circumstances.
Dropping in just to say i believe in you and we're going to have a daughter but hey we still can't be together. What is this woman thinking? Even if she doesn't believe what he's telling her about Julian how can she go there and do something like this?
Blusamurai's post minus the preview info. Some people studiously avoid even watching the previews so we don't like to mention them in the blog.
So the Angel updates the gang on the bodies in the lawyers office and sends Luisa and Amador to check the scene of the crime.
Camila stays at a shelter what's that old saying sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to get your act together.
Benja goes to visits his kids and is told but the housekeeper she didn't spend the night there. he starts to get angry until he learns she stayed the night at the hospital with Matilde.
Tatiana has remorse over sleeping with Angel and she can't get out of there fast enough instead of going home she goes to visit Matilde.
Piedad is jumpy at her apartment even though Benja is keeping her company. After being visited by Luisa and Amador to find out where Julian's whereabouts are. She eventually calls him when he's at the police before his interrogation.
Luisa and Amador look over the scene of the crime and somethings don't add up to Luisa and she tells Amador this who agrees with her. That's right girl don't believe the set up.
Julian is told by Angel while waiting in his office that his step father is "El Cazador" he feigns surprise and shock upon this discovery. Oh you big faker you as Angel just looks on at his performance.
Julian is asked by Angel to identify the body of Daniel Vidal and he says that's him. Luisa comes in and then he tells Angel on purpose that Rodrigo escaped the night of Matilde's accident.Implying that he was Daniel's accomplice as Luisa gives him a dirty look.
Julian is with Piedad and he tells her how the killer is his step father. Piedad is happy because this means Rodrigo will be set free as Julian doesn't say anything and hugs her and smirks behind her back.Blech!
Rodrigo is told by the female attendant and shown the paper that Daniel Vidal is "El Cazador" he should be expecting to be set free and happy with this news.
Rodrigo instead is upset and angry and says it's a lie Julian is the killer. The attendant and the guard leave him alone by himself.
Valeria visits the clinic again to see Pedro Pablo and urge him to hurry and get Rodrigo free. He tells her he still has to get the ok from the judge and he has to talk to Piedad first as this angers Valeria but he tells her he has to let her know why he's not there at the clinic. This calms Valeria down.
Pedro Pablo visits Rodrigo and lets him know he has to stay at least two to three months more there he still considered a accomplice of Daniel Vidal.
Rodrigo accuses Julian being behind this as Pedro Pablo calms him down and tells him they will just have to do what the judge wants for the time being.
I've been questioning Paula's paternity for a while now. It's time for one of the guys to raise the question.
There is no question that there is no way Julieta will have any peace in that house as long as Paula is there. The only proper solution is to prove that Paula isn't Don Emilio's daughter or to buy her off. However, lawyers love situations like that because that can mean years of legal fees whle the inheritance is fought over.
I am angry (as Luisa must be) that the writers chose to interrupt her interrogation of Julian with news of the 3 murders. I was really looking forward to the clash of wits between them, and to see how Julian was going to get out (or not) of the accusations/evidence against him. It was cheating for them not to have shown more of that.
Aerin: I agree with your comments about liking subtle and natural acting, but not about Amayo's performance and the example you gave when they showed him confronting Daniel about his abuse.Don't forget he was in Cazador mode, had just killed two people, and was about to kill his stepfather. For him to allow any "feelings" about his childhood abuse would not have made sense and would have been histrionic telenovela acting. That he played it with a twisted almost-smile and cold rage was real. I think that is what makes him such a good actor: he plays the "moment" and not the general character or general feelings.
Thanks for the short and "sweet" summary, Jean.
Hi NJ, thanks for answering, I still disagree. I thought his mocking his own experience was completely off. He could've subtly change his "mode" a little. It is not the only thing that bothers me about his performance. For example, when he fakes tenderness, he looks fake. Instead of me thinking, oh, what a great liar this guy is, I think, oh, how stupid are those who believe him. And Im not comparing his performance to telenovela cartoonish performances, but to other actors who play these kind of roles. Michael C.Hall from Dexter for example. But anyway, I realize his performance is liked by a lot of people. I am just expressing what doesn't convince me. He does convince me when he talks with Eva or when he is in expressionless mode. But he doesn't amuse me when he mocks his victims, I find that very typical of telenovela villains. The gloating yes, that is psychopath behaviour, but, it made no sense that he mocked his mother's abuse to him. I've seen other actors able to show mixed emotions (in the case of Julian, we cannot really call them feelings). He does not seem capable of this or maybe like you said, he has chosen not to it, but I personally believe it is a bad choice. He doesn't convince me either when he lies and almost everyone believes in him because I never did. He always seemed fake, But anyay, that is only my very lonely point of view :) However, I am not saying Amaya is a bad actor. I am not an expert so I can only talk about what I feel. But I won't say it anymore. I'd rather rant at the characters. There is plenty to rant about on that front :)
Blu, I am so upset with yesterday's episode that I can't comment yet. I felt like throwing shoes at my TV several times.
One of the advantages of wherever this show is set is that the climate preserves letters really well. All the old letters from Lupe's Mom were perfectly clean folded sheets. Same as the one Rosa was reading from her former secret flame, Don Emilio! Yes, another secret in the family (and I bet Modesto knew about this one, too).
I thought the scene with Lupe and Gaspar was funny. He said he was not going to help her find her mother, because Eleuterio had promised that if Gaspar convinced Lupe to come home, and forget about finding her Mom, they could be a couple. Lupe said, well I'm not living home now, and I can do what I want. We can be a couple. So Gaspar said, all right then, I'll help you find your mother!
It was true that Sofia had a previous romantic entanglement with Gustavo the lawyer. He turned down Jose and Gaspar's bribe attempt, and after telling Sofia, thought that deserved a little nookie in return. She promised some dough, but nixed the nookie. Nuts!
And now Lucas saw the video of Juan and Paula. He's mad at Juan (why not at Paula?). He's still pining for Paula. My prediction? At some point, Paula WILL pretend to fall for him, to get him on her side. Of course, this would have disastrous results for lots of people.
It still doesn't look as if Matilde can control her blinking (or maybe no one has thought to ask her :)
Rodrigo having to wait several more months in jail is ridiculous. By what stretch of the imagination is he an accomplice? Does an accomplice have his partner drug him and leave the body in his bed with drugs all around? There's absolutely no connection between Rod and Daniel Vidal, where there is lot of connection between Julian and Daniel. Julian also told Angel that he hadn't seen Daniel in years. But it's possible some people saw them together recently. And while Rod was out the night of Matilde's accident, so were Benja and Julian. Why would Rod be the accomplice, and why can't he even get out on bail? I know why, it's convenient for the story. But I don't like it.
ITA about Piedad. However, since Rodrigo still loves her anyway, and she really loves him, I still hope they will get back together in the end, as bad as she is. (But she'll have to let him see her naked :)
Quoting Hombre "(But she'll have to let him see her naked :)"
Lol! I believe she needs to do a little bit more than that to earn our forgiveness! (you are so easy)
No, seriously, Piedad's behavior is so selfish and almost sadistic with Rodrigo. In that scene yesterday I could imagine her, cutting his chest, taking his heart and eating it. I don't think this is even close to real love. It is selfish love. It is really all about her, making things rights with her conscience, disregarding his feelings completely. She knows he loves her so much that any kind word towards him will get his hopes up and there she goes, feeding the hope, only to make sure she still has him where she wants him and then throw him to the floor again.
And he is a masoquist. Does he love her? or is he addicted to her the way he is to other things? I believe he is fixated on this hope to make amends with her, to repair what he once broke (but it wasn't just him, she has a lot of guilt in that and Julian too) Rodrigo is extremely sensitive and too aware of other people's feelings so he always feels guilty about everyhing. He needs to get over that feeling and he needs to get over Piedad.
If Piedad and Rodrigo end up together, I will never believe that they will be healthy or happpy. There is no way, because she is specially beyond repair. She is truly messed up.
I believe that Piedad does love Rodrigo, but she's tried to block that feeling. She had been hurt by his drug use so many times before, that she made a conscious decision to bury her true feelings, and go with Julian, who is more "reliable" to her (yeah, what a joke). She's only cruel to Rod because she just can't let her true feelings surface, for fear of being hurt again. But I think those feelings are there, and Rodrigo knows this. But I could be wrong.
Hombre, I think Rodrigo and Piedad will probably end up together, and we are supposed to believe that she still loves him. I am just saying that her way of loving is very selfish. She doesn't seem capable of seeing beyond herself. So he hurt her? That is true, but didn't she hurt him too? many times? His drug addiction is not about her! He didn't take drugs to hurt her! to betray her! He had a problem. She had all the right to not want to deal with it, but she needs to stop this game with him. She needs to leave him alone, if not for her sake, for his sake! as an act of humanity. It is uncanny to me, that she doesn't show the slightest compassion for the man she supposedly loves. Plus, I don't know about you guys, but to me, Piedad has always played this game between Rodrigo and Julian. That in itself is very selfish and hurtful to both men (it does not, and it will not excuse her, that Rodrigo was an addict and Julian a killer). Anyway, I'll shut up for today because I don't to want to hog the blog :) Im sorry Hombre but I can't excuse Piedad anymore with her past suffering. Their breakup was not just because he kept doing drugs, even when they were having a good time, the next day she went to kiss Julian. She has sabotaged that relationship as much as Rodrigo and even more. All he needed to do was go to rehab (not an easy thing to do), but his love for her was always stronger and it has remained intact. He has not even been able to look at another woman. How do you fix Piedad, her faulty thinking? her lack of instincts? her selfishness? her cruelty? What guarantees us that the second Rodrigo makes a mistake she won't take refuge in some other guy? No way. She sucks!
If someone already answered this, disculpame. I believe "prefecto" (prefect in English) is a chief officer, as in chief of police.
Along with fiscal, juez, and other goodies, I'm certainly learning a lot. :-)
Hombre, Lucas is completely out of his depth. Paula could chew him up and spit him out in the time it takes Pedro to pour a drink. This is only going to get uglier.
In case nobody's used this word yet to describe Sofia and Paula: puta. And I include Rosa in that definition.
Gotta tell you was blown away how easily Julian let it slip that Rodrigo had escaped the night of Matilde's accident. Statement made and accepted by a man who just 5 minutes ago was the prime suspect, cops believed it Rodrigo stays in jail. I truly found that interesting and completely unexpected by me.
I can't stand Ángel. My pet name for him is Fiscal Jackass. I can't wait to see him humbled when Luisa is proven right. He actually had the nerve to accuse her of being unwilling to see him be right.
Julián wasn't happy, but he took it better than I thought he would when Piedad said she'd stay in her own house until they marry (as if!). And then she stopped him in his tracks when he tried to say Rodrigo couldn't be near the baby.
I expected that dark haired pole dancer's face to morph into Piedad's. From a distance there was a resemblance.
Nice to see Camila studying and working, moving on with her life.
Pedro Pablo was great in the courtroom! Of course, the key thing was the time when Mathilde was pursued being after Rod was back in his room. Loved the sour look on Fiscal Jackass's face when she and the nurse testified to that.
It's great that Pedro Pablo is avoiding Lucy, but Lola can't get over herself and realize her husband is being faithful.
Urban A, I'm so with you on the right name for Sofía and Paula: puta. Especially Sofía. At times they show Paula a bit repentant, but Sofía has no redeeming qualities at all. Poor Miguel. He's ready to do the right thing, leave his harpy wife, and live with her. But no, she laughs like a hyena. So I suppose we'll have to put up with lots more scenes of Rosa verbally abusing him. At least he told Berta to butt out for once!
I could not believe Paula thought she had the right to fire 20 employees, precisely the ones who help Julieta. Apparently it hasn't sunk in that she owns the house, but not the hacienda. That belongs to all six.
I thought the scene with Lupe and her mother was very sweet. I hope she doesn't turn out to have feet of clay. I'd hate to see crabby old Eleuterio proven right. And, speaking of E, if he doesn't want to lose his daughter completely and forever, he needs to accept her relationship with her mother.
Julian goes to a club he see a attractive dancer on the pole they make eye contact. Later he meets up with her after her dance is over. She looks like his next possible victim as he looks at her they come onto each other she opens the room in the back he sees a child sleeping on the bed? You can see the urge coming over him as he creepily touches her breast over her heart. The dancer is put off as Julian backs off and gets out of there fast.
Luisa talks to perfecto about her concerns she doesn't believe that Daniel vial is the killer as Angel listens in from the open doorway he comes in letting her know he doesn't appreciate her doubting him. That Julian is not the killer as Luisa looks back at him like the moron he is.
Julian goes back to the hideaway he gets the rifle Daniel had and collects all of the knives in the drawer. He then goes down into his killing lair remembering and flashing back to killing Eva and then butchering Mauricio. As Mauricio's taunts echo in his head.
Eva appears and taunts him that he can't stop she knows he will kill again. He denies this but Eva is sure he can't stop his killing urge now that he started it. Eva ask who will be his next victim? Matilde perhaps? As Julian recalls him confronting Matilde down there.
Julian digs a hole to bury all of the weapons as Eva stands by saying she doesn't know why he's doing this because he'll need them once he gets his urges again to kill.
It's disturbing and makes one wonder if Julian had conversations with his own mother before he killed Eva or is it just Eva he's having this imagination of his conscience with?
Julian sees the paper as it says that Rodrigo is having his trial he doesn't look very happy.
Piedad is at the clinic looking very pregnant as she talks about being a witness for Rodrigo. Julian comes out and tries to talk her out of it as they then go to back to discuss it further.
Pedro Pablo is getting ready to leave he's staying a Rodrigo's apartment. As Veronica calls and tells him about Loca Lucia but he doesn't want to talk to her even when his phone rings and he sees it's her he doesn't pick up.
Julian wants piedad to stay away from Rodrigo if he's set free but Piedad reminds him that he is the father of her child.
A very pregnant Lola is coming into her living room as Yoyita helps her who is asking her to take back Pedro but Lola refuses. I was beginning to wonder what had happened to her pregnancy also.Funny how we saw both Piedad and Lola far along in their maternity but we didn't see Lucia? Could it be that's why Pedro is avoiding her she's not pregnant?
The doctor discusses Matilde with the nurse who ask if she'll ever be able to move or talk again. The doctor remains silent as Julian listens outside of the door.
Rodrigo is bought to court funny how the police have bullet proof vest on but all Rodrigo has is his handcuffs.
Angel wants to continue to charge Rodrigo as Daniel Vidal accomplice. Pedro Pablo wiped the courtroom floor showing the judge how impossible it was that Rodrigo had anything to do with Matilde's accident. First he brings up Piedad to corroborate the time and what time he was bought back to the clinic. The nurse attendant and on the riders in the truck that Matilde struck tell the court of the time of the accident.
Angel looks like a big idiot who just got his license off the back of a matchbook.
Camila grows up finally.
Tatiana is ask by the housekeeper about spending her time outside of the house as Tatiana snaps at her it's her business.
Valeria tells the court of how Rodrigo saved her from her drug addiction. She then tells everyone how he was in their support group and some of those people stand up in the courtroom showing their full support of Rodrigo. The judge needs time to go over everything as Rodrigo is taken away he looks and Benja and Valeria and kind snubs Piedad yeah progress.
Matilde is visited by Tatiana who is putting makeup on her as she talks about Rodrigo. More like complaining about him getting out and she keeps accusing him as Daniel Vidal's accomplice.i would say trying to look pretty is the least of Matilde's worries at the moment but that's just me.
A month or months have passed as Rodrigo goes to court again. Poor Angel is still sticking to his charge against Rodrigo that he is Daniel Vidal's accomplice.
Pedro wipes the courtroom with him again not bad for a lawyer who's not that experienced as a trail lawyer. He tells the judge what would be the reason for him to drug himself in his own bed with a woman who was murdered?
Hombre i loved your reasoning on this and so if we used Angel's convoluted thinking it was Daniel doing the stabbing and then the bodies were bought back to Rodrigo and he's a surgeon so he know how to remove the hearts and sews back up the bodies. So wouldn't the last murder of the secretary like that prove that Rodrigo wasn't his accomplice.
Angel you better polish off that resume because by the time this ends i hope Rodrigo sues him for all he's worth and he's let go from his job.
The judge declares Rodrigo innocent as he is hugged by Pedro,Benja and Valeria as he separates from them. He spans the courtroom looking for you know who and a look of disappointment flashes onto his face. Let her go Rodrigo you're too good for her.
Aeryn i loved what you said about Piedad and she is selfish like that. I'm hoping that now that he's free he starts distancing himself from her. He may not love Valeria but at least he knows he has someone who stayed by him at his most difficult times.
HDM, Paula is looking to steal it all, so it has occurred to her.
As for repentance, I'm not buying it. She is setting the brothers against each other with the most selfish of motives, and she does not love Juan; she's only sexually obsessed with him, which isn't the same thing. How can she expect him to overlook any of her actions and win his love at the same time?
Tatiana and her reaction. My friend reacted the same way after she discovered her husband cheated on her, forgot about her son, it took a while for her to get back to normal, so I find Tatiana's reaction so real, these writers have been amazing. I am watching Geraldine on another telenovela Victoria with Ms. Ruffo. Geraldine is amazing.
We learned that Guadalupe's Mom's name is Inez, and she seems nice. The rest was a lot of the same people being themselves again. Juan and Julieta moved into Meek Miguel's house, so that might be a little interesting. Or not. C'mon, writers, how about a little poisoning, or amnesia? Get with it, guys!
That was very satisfying to see Rodrigo FINALLY get his freedom. I still don't understand why, after all that great testimony was presented, the judge had to wait 3 months to give his verdict. Oh well. But I learned a new word "el siniestro", which Pedro Pablo used for the "accident", or "tragedy".
I also learned the phrase "un cabo suelto", or a loose end, which is what Eva told Julian Matilde is. Uuuuuuuy!
Eva was great as she told Julian that the only thing that would stop him from killing would be his death. Double uuuuuuy!
So far, Camila, in her new career as student/cell phone salesperson, is sticking with the unsexy clothes and hairstyle I feared might come with her reformation. Sigh!
But Tatiana looks sexier than ever. She told the kids she had a date, but not who it was with. Our famous Fiscal Jackass, aka Aw-Hell, or Angel???
You guys are so funny! Specially Hombre, that I forget how much this novela upsets me :p The trial was a mess! but I am was so relieved that Rodrigo got free! Julian will try to kick his own "addiction". Let's see how well he does.
Aeryn, you nailed it with describing Julián's "problem" as also an addiction. Now that I think of it, his constant references to Rodrigo as "drogadicto" could be construed as the psychological symptom known as projection (accusing the other person of being what you deep down know yourself to be). And the ghost of Eva refers often to his sed por sangre.
I just put my finger on what bothered me about that trial (besides the late verdict). Normally, in courtrooms in the US, where this is supposedly set, the prosecution is on the left, from the judge's point of view, with the defense on the right. This was exactly the opposite.
Poor Hombre i was thinking of you when they showed Camila looking so unsexy. Perhaps once she graduates and starts her career off she'll revert back to her sexy clothes.
Ok, I am not satisfied with the Valeria Rodrigo hook up now! It didn't happen in the romantic way that I would've wanted. It happened suddenly, he wasn't really into it. Boo! They ruined it. These two were my favorite characters, but she got all pushy, he is like numbed lately, specially in his scenes with her.I'm disappointed. Now that we know that Valeria had an abortion, ugh! she is so doomed. This novela needs to end soon but they keep saying ultimas semanas booooooooo (I want to cry)
