Eva Luna #56 Mon 1/24/11 Julio Gets The Last Laugh

Cap. #56

We rewind to just as Renata starts calling for Aurelia.  It seems like it’s time for Eva to make like a tree and leave.......(Ok. Ok. I know. That one’s as old as the hills, but then so am I.)  We assume she does.

At the modeling agency, it’s another dram-edy of errors as Daniel is trying to fire Alicia.  Ali won’t go and stands her ground.  (Good girl!)  He demands an explanation of what she’s doing there of all places.  She yells back at him that that’s what she was doing. (Of course it sounds like a Greek opera here and sort of difficult to follow, even with Spanish CC’s.  No way I’m going with their English ones for this!)  She tells him she refuses to let him continue to insult her and the only “thief” there is Daniel!  “--First you seduced her and then to get her out of the way you accuse her of something she didn’t do!.” He’s pulling his still unknown rank. “--Get out of this business place now!” Ali tells him the owner hired her and he can fire her.  “--The owner?”  Daniel is confused. Yeah, yells, Ali.  “--Leonardo!!”  Daniel is even more confounded and upset. “--Leonardo!!???”  Daniel stands there flabbergasted-impactado.

Meanwhile, at the Casino, our tightfisted and suspicious Tony is telling said owner, Leo, that he’s beginning to get a bit upset and wants to know what’s really going on between him and his “girlfriend”, Alicia.   Yeah, he could be getting jealous for nothing, but that’s what he’s there to find out.  If he’s right, though, it would be a very serious situation.  Leo gets miffed, hedges, and pulls rank.  Yes, it’s a mistake all right, says Leo, and the only one who’s going to be sorry is Tony!  He’s supposed to do the job he’s given him --finding Eva-- and that’s it!  That’s all he’s getting paid to do.  As Leo storms off, Tony tells himself again that if he finds out that Leo’s been messing with Ali he’s going to pay big time.

Back at Ali’s make-up station, Dano is still spitting nails at her.  “--Leonardo!  Yeah, I can just imagine!  First Eva and now you!”  Ali asks him what Leo has to do with Eva in all of this.  Dano screams back at her not to play dumb.  He says he knows very well the class of people she and her sister are and their fine little game they’re playing!  Ali is ready to pull her hair out.  “--What are you talking about?” “--I know now how you go looking for wealthy families and get involved with the men so that you can hook one of them, gain their confidence, rob them, and then leave for another town and start it all over again!!”   (Dano, though, left Bimbutt in charge of his thinking cap.  He doesn’t stop to think that if Ali left town she couldn’t be working there now. Can somebody order him a beanie, too?)  She asks him where he got such a stupid story.  He is not listening.  “--Eva did exactly that with me. You tricked me in order to gain my confidence and then made me one of your victims.  I fell for it like a fool!”  Ali tells him he’s crazy.

Back at the Arismendi mansion, Renata comes out to get Aurelia to prepare a couple of trays with refreshments for the family while they listen to the reading of the will.   Ren sees the glass of water Eva was drinking from and asks Aurelia who she was talking to.  Aurelia has her answer ready and tells her it was her glass and it was only Jacky coming by to give her sympathies to the family for Don Julio.  Ren asks if she mentioned Eva or her whereabouts and Auri says no, she didn’t.  Ren warns her to be careful not to cover for Eva because not only would she lose her job but she’d also likely be thrown in jail as an accomplice or for obstruction of justice.

In Marcela’s office at the ad agency, Giorgio brings in some paperwork with the current expenses for the modeling agency.  Marcy can’t believe the cost overruns it seems.  Well, it was Toyboy Bruno’s doing.    Marcy hasn’t got time to gripe at Bruno about it now, she’s got to race back home for the reading of her dead hubby’s will.

Over in the other part of the building, Ali and Dan are still at it.   She accuses Dan of making this all up to malign them.  “--We’re decent people!  The only victim here is my sister!”  (At least somebody is finally standing up for Eva.)   Ali isn’t gonna take it with her tail between her legs like others might.  Dan insists he’s not making anything up and nothing they say will make him fall for their little game again.  She calls him a charlatan and a vile liar.  He made Eva believe he loved her then got her into some jam to get the police after her, she screams.  He asks her what in the hell she’s talking about!  Ali says she doesn’t know, but he was pretty crafty about it.  He believes she’s a wicked person.    Ali’s trying to clean up her sister’s image with him, he screams back. (--well, yeah!) Ali says she has no reason to because her sister is totally innocent and didn’t steal anything from him!  He says well she can tell it to the judge!   Ali warns him that one day he’s going to be darned sorry for ever having doubted Eva.  (Query: Anybody ever wonder how many ways you can serve crow?)  Dan says he’s going to find Leo and get her fired from there because he is also an owner there, just the same as Leo!!  “--And when you see your sister tell her I hate her for all the harm she’s caused me!”  As Dan walks away, Ali is drop-jaw-impactada with his major revelation.

Giorgio is praising Money-Mad Marcy for her dedication to the business.  She tells him she’s looking out for her kids to see that all the goods are included in the will.  Just then Olga comes in with a humongous funeral bouquet and a ribbon around it saying “Marcela, my love, soon we will be together.”  They all feel It’s obviously been somebody’s cruel joke and in bad taste.  Marcy wants to know who sent it.  All Olga can say is that the florist got the order a few days ago from someone who wouldn’t leave their name and who paid in cash, with the request to have it delivered today.  She order’s Olga to dump it ASAP and not a word about it to anyone!

Back at the boarding house Tomas comes in and bullies Adriancito about doing his science homework.  He told the kid, he says, that he’s not going to school.  It’s a waste cuz he’s supposed to help him with a real man’s work.  “--Get your feet on the ground and stop dreaming!” Yadda, yadda.  “--Dry up those tears!  I’m going to teach you how to be a real man!”  He throws the schoolbooks in the trash.  FF>>

Downstairs, Don Ricardo is still lamenting Adrian’s treatment from his father.  Justa and he agree there’s nothing to be done legally because Tomas is the boy’s father and has rights. FF>>;

Later on, in the study at the mansion, everyone’s assembled and waiting for the lawyer to arrive.  Dan tells Leo he wants to discuss something with him afterwards.  It can wait till after the business with the will.  He also asks Victoria if she’s sure she wants him there since this is really a family matter.  Bimbutt tells him he’s like one of the family so he should be there.

At the same time, Eva is in a park on the side of the main drag out of town.  She’s crying over Julio’s death.

Back at the manse, Leo asks Marcy which will the lawyer’s reading.  Marcy explains that this version was rewritten at her request right after his papa’s accident, to make sure all was in order if anything should happen to him.  Leo says as cold as it might sound, it was the right thing to do since in life you have to be prepared for anything.  The doorbell rings.  Ren goes to bring in the lawyer.  Marcy’s mouth is watering.

Eva manages to eventually hitch a ride with some new-age girl about her age who just happens to read Tarot cards and is into positive vibes.  The jargon is over the top.  (I’ll combine this part of the story because it is too much scene-switching otherwise.)  She gives Eva a pep talk and agrees to take her to her aunt’s which is on the way to San Diego.  At one point they stop for gas.  The girl talks with the attendant and it seems like she might be telling him she’s got that fugitive from the law with her.  They get ready to drive off and a cop car drives up.  Eva turns her face away.  The cop stops them but only to say that the girl has accidentally left her gas-cap off.  He screws it back in for her and they drive off.  Problem avoided.

The lawyer begins by saying that D. J. asked that Ren be there for the reading and that the originals of his will are locked in a safe.  He offers to let them read through his copies of the list of holdings, but they say it’s not necessary.  He begins to read:  Leo and V-Icky each get one quarter of his fortune and …..(drum roll) the other half is left to Miss Eva Gonzales!!!  The whole group look at Marcy as Julio’s Anvil of Just Desserts comes crashing down on her.   (Viewerville does a little jig of victory.  Pop the corks and let the champagne pour!!)  Mean, Murderous, Manipulative Marcy got goose eggs!  Bipkus!   Z.E.R.O.  Marcy says it’s not the will he wrote.  The lawyer says that’s right.  That one was destroyed and this one was written up a couple of days before he died.  He signed it the morning of the day he died, in front of witnesses as required by law.

While the will is being read, Julio is enjoying a bit of sun and smiling to himself, thinking of how his “widow” is taking the news that Eva now owns the Arismendi mansion.  “For the first time she’s losing her cool in front of everyone.”  What a shame he can’t be there to watch it all.  Marcela underestimated him, he tells himself, with a gargantuan grin, and she is now realizing that she is a poor widow--literally!

The lawyer continues:   Leo and Icky get the properties in N.Y. and Miami.  Ren gets his parents’ old house in Mexico City to compensate her for her care of his first wife and her years of loyalty especially in his final days.  (That means they'll all have to vacate and take up residence of the houses they were left.  Only Eva gets to live nearby.)

Marcy accuses Ren of knowing all about this.  Ren says she really didn’t.  The lawyer chimes in and says nobody knew anything.  It was all done in secret.    He continues reading: Eva gets the country house (the cabin?) and two bank accounts he specifically opened for her in her name, also 51% of the stock in the ad agency, and the Arismendi mansion.  Marcy is fit to be tied!  “--No!  The house is mine!!”  V-icky is near tears.  Eva????  Dano is saucer-eyed impactado and probably thinking she’s an even bigger grifter than he ever imagined!   Icky can’t believe Eva could have managed all of this.  Leo says, well if his father wanted to give them a surprise, he certainly managed to!  Marcy stands up and yells that Julio had to be out of his mind when he wrote this will!  She threatens to challenge it.  The lawyer says no, he was totally sane and the witnesses can confirm it.

Marcy cries on Leo’s shoulder.  “She took my house and my business!  She took everything away from me!  They left me out on the street!”  Boo-hoo!   Real tears this time!  (I think we can all agree that it couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person--either Eva or Marcy!!)    The lawyer continues.  Icky gets his wife’s jewelry.  Marcy moans in real pain.  “--Nothing!  Nothing!  He left me with nothing!!”   She threatens the lawyer again with challenging the will.  Icktoria can’t believe he would leave half his fortune to that criminal, Eva!  Marcy suddenly turns on Leo with a malicious hiss and blames it all on him for having brought “that whore”  to work there.  She then screams at Daniel and blames him too for believing in the slut!   The lawyer tells Marcy again that the will is air-tight.  Marcy whines over what Julio has done to her, but her dream-turned-almost-worst-nightmare is not quite over yet.  There’s a letter Julio left for her to read.

Julio toasts her reading the letter with a bottle of Perrier since he’s not allowed to drink alcohol.  “--I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!  Everyone must be dying of curiosity wondering what’s in it.  Well, it’s the rest of the challenge for power between us. You thought you were an all-powerful woman, untouchable.  The only thing you’ll be is pitiable!  To your health, Viper!”

Leo and Icky hope the letter gives some explanation.  Ren is still dumbfounded by it all.  Marcy begins to read it to herself.  “You don’t know how  sorry I am not being able to be with you at the moment to see your face but I told you, dear wife, that I was going to show you that you’re worthless!  The only inheritance I leave you --and God knows it’s what you need-- is humility.  Surely poverty will really wrinkle you well.  And when you leave the mansion with your rags,  I’ll be watching you, enjoying your downfall.  Lic. Basañez will give you two more letters in due time.   But for now, Good-Bye.   I hope that with this you finally understand and accept that not even in death from my tomb will I leave you in peace.  --Julio”

Marcy refuses to read the letter aloud or to tell the others what it says.  She crumples it up and takes it with her.  (I wonder if they’ll sneak back in and dig through her trashcan before it’s emptied.  I wouldn’t put it past either Leo or Icky!)   Renata follows her out of the room.

Laurita has a conversation with her mother’s picture and tells her that she misses Eva, and that the police are still looking for her.  She hopes she’ll come back soon, that her daddy doesn’t get any more confused and then comes back with that witch, Victoria!

Eva finally arrives at her aunt’s house.

Marcy goes to her room and blubbers, cursing Julio and hugging her fancy digs. She practically stomps her feet because it’s supposed to be all hers!  She’s earned it!  Nobody will take it away from her!!  (I will want a ring-side seat when Eva has the cops throw Cruella Marcela out on her plentiful patoot.  I’ll have popcorn and beer and I’ll be taking bets on how many men on straight-jackets it will take to pry her fingers loose from those pillars.)

At her aunt’s, Eva finally has a chance to fill in Matilde on what’s been really going on.    She first asks if she knows why her father was so insistent on taking her to the city and who he was taking her to see the day he got run over.  Matilde lies and says she doesn’t.    Eva tells her that day everything changed for her and Ali.  Matilde reminds her that the cards foretold a tragedy.  Eva says the tragedy took place and she did meet the man who would make her life both a Heaven and a Hell.

Back in the study of the Arismendi mansion, Leo and Icky are kvetching about what their father did to them.  Icky whines over her whiskey and soda that first Eva got involved with Daniel and finished off their relationship.  Then, she finished them off by getting involved with their father and convincing him to leave her half of his fortune.  She wishes Eva would die!  Daniel takes the glass and tells her to stop drinking.  She starts yelling at Leo that it’s his fault.  Why did he ever bring her to the house?  Leo says she fooled him also.  (Have they totally forgotten all the rotten stuff they did to her first!   It’s like they believe all the lies they’ve been feeding Daniel!   There aren’t enough shoes in all of Viewerville to throw at the screen!)  Leo asks Dan what he wanted to discuss with him.  Dan says he’ll leave it for later.  Today’s been enough for them as it is.  It can wait till tomorrow.

Marcy now starts planning a way to regain control of her share.  She tells herself she’s already killed Julio so what’s one more murder on her conscience?   She’s got to find Eva!

Back in the study, Icky is whining to Dano about her rotten luck now that Eva has them cornered.  Dan tells her he feels just as badly for them.  She says Eva’s won and her life is over.  Dan says Eva hasn’t won it all and Icktoria isn’t alone.  “--You’re going to get out from under all of this...with me.”  Icky stops and stares at him.  (OMG!  Laurita, better pack her bags again.)

At the boarding house, Ali and Marisol are chatting it up.  Ali still wants to see Mari sing and Mari still refuses to bring her by.  Same ol’, same ol’ yadda, yadda.  FF>>

Eva tells her aunt that the day she and her fiance were to get married in secret, she found out he was the one who’d run down and killed her father.   Neither one can believe it but Eva says it’s true.  So now she’s got to hate him with all her might!  She’s got to!  (Seems to me she either hates him or she doesn’t.  No room for maybe’s with this emotion.  Everybody move your beanie control up a notch.)

Back again at the boarding house, Ali is telling Mari how happy she feels being a professional make-up artist.  Mari warns her again not to get distracted by Leo if she wants to be successful.  Ali says she won’t.  Daniel’s the one who’s distracting her.  Mari doesn’t understand what he’s got to do with the place she’s working for.    She explains that he works there too and is trying to get her fired.

Back in apple-picking country,  (the CC just went out) Eva explains that she had to leave Alicia behind because the police were after her.  She tells her aunt how she was accused of stealing and swears it’s a lie and that she didn’t steal anything.    Her aunt doesn’t need convincing, she says.  She knows Eva’s character.  Eva tells her the version that Leo gave her: that Daniel is accusing her of stealing to make her look bad to the police so that they won’t believe her when she accuses him of running over her father.    She’s helpless now because there’s no way they’ll believe her instead of him!  She’s got to get even with him somehow!  Her aunt says she still has to report the crime so the police will at least begin an investigation.  (Ah!  Another person with a few functioning brain cells!  Rather refreshing, isn’t it?)  Eva doesn’t want to, she explains, because they’ll throw her in jail and the only person who could help her defend herself is now dead.

Matilde though, isn’t so sure that’s the real reason Eva won’t report Dan to the police.  Eva asks what she means.  Matilde says that by the tone of her voice and what she sees in her eyes, Eva still basically believes Daniel to be innocent.  Eva argues with her aunt over that.  How can he be innocent if everyone who knows him accuses him??/!!! (Seems to me there’s only been one someone and that’s that louse, Leo.)  Matilde reminds her this accusation business works both ways.  Eva’s been wrongly accused, so Daniel might have been also.  Eva flies into a rage and tells her to stop confusing her with all these things she’s stuffing into her pounding head.  The only thing for her is to feed the hate so that she can make him pay for her father’s death.  (Better give it a rest and try again later, Matilde.  Maybe you can undo Leo’s brainwashing.  Add an extra rinse and spin while you’re at it.)

Ok.  Back to the inevitable scene with Icky and Dan.  She asks him if he really means it, sticking by her so she won’t feel so alone.  He says yes.  She was so attentive towards him.  No way he would abandon her now.  He can understand the way she feels; everything with her father has happened so fast and it’s even left him upset and disoriented.   Well, she’s furious over it, she says.   Bad enough Eva’s taking him from her, but then her brother and now-- taking advantage of her father, manipulating everything so that she became his heir!

Said dead father is now placing a call to Eva’s at Justa’s boarding house, trying to locate Eva.  Ricardo answers and covers for Eva.  He tells Julio she doesn't live there and hangs up.  D.J. figures he’s written the number down wrong.

Matilde wants Eva to tell her about the man who was such a help to her.  Eva tells her about finding a job with a wealthy family, the time she spent with Don Julio, and how he was grooming her to join him at his ad agency.  (You’d think the bells would go off in Matilde’s head, but they don’t.  She must have used up the last of the few working brain cells she had with her earlier discussion.)

Julio hopes the address is correct at least, even if the phone number might be wrong.

Justa wonders about the phone call and Ricardo explains why he did it.  It could have been the police and he didn’t ask any questions because he didn’t want to raise suspicions.   He really wished he could have had the chance to help Eva prove her innocence.  Justa says he is just that way, wanting to help everyone.  Unfortunately, says Ricardo, no one will let him, not Adrian, not Eva, and not even her.  Justa asks why her?  He says she refuses to let him in on what’s really been causing her so much emotional pain, that “something that prevents her from allowing herself to love again.”  Justa decides the time has finally come.  She agrees to tell Ricardo everything.

Leo now is thinking about the reading of the will and all that Eva inherited.  “--It’s more important than ever now that Tony locates Eva!”

At the same time, Dano and Icky are making nice-nice over each other.  Icky tells Dan that he’s the only nice thing she’ll be dreaming about when she goes to sleep tonight.  (Blechhh!)

Back at Justa’s again, she’s telling Ric how the day she found out she was pregnant, the man she loved was marrying somebody else.  Ric is shocked to learn that Justa had a child.  Justa says, yes, she had a daughter.

Back at the manse, Danny Boy can’t believe how after all he did to her that Icky could be so sweet to him.  She explains, in between sobs and dripping snot, that she now realizes that he never meant to hurt her.  Eva simply confused him and made him doubt her.  Tonight she’s going to pray that the doors to his heart will open up to her again.  (Double blechhh!  My barf-bag runneth over.)   Danny stares at her with stars in his eyes.....Time for Aunt Matilde to get out those Tarot cards!!

Yeah - Dano is really stupid!

I watched that scene with him spitting nails at Alicia, and he couldn't figure out a thing - nothing gave him pause. Like Alicia is there WORKING - so she obviously didn't run away with some kind of windfall. He ignores everything she says.

Perhaps - at some point - he'll think back and remember a few things. Don't know if I have the patience to wait for it though.

Jardinera, Last night was such a jam packed episode and you got it all with such fine flair!!!Thanks for such a fun read!!

The reading of the will was awesome. So I am thinking that Bruno has been embezeling from Marella as well so maybe that business will be bankrupt as well. Way to go Bruno!!!

The Dan and vicky scenes were so hard to watch.

I also was all worried when the new age women stopped to pay for the gas with Eva in the car. I was ready to throw my shoe at the TV. So glad that did not happen and it was a relief to finally see Eva make it home.

Thanks again Jardinera.

Great recap. You got it all. Tonite I think EL on an hour late due to Obama speech.

Kalum

Jardinera, thanks so much for this fantastic recap of a terrific episodio. I started making note of some of your delightful remarks, but there were so many of them, I'd simply be reproducing your recap! Anyway, I loved it!!

Like the rest of (now shoeless) Viewerville, I just about lost it when Dano said to Icky, “You’re going to get out from under all of this...with me.” Blech!! And the first thing I thought of was exactly what you went on to say: Laurita had better pack her bags. How can Dano not think about Laurita's feelings? Of course, it's true that he didn't exactly say he'd marry Icky, but still....

In spite of Dano's response to Icky, most of this episodio was a delight, especially the reading of the will. I was also pleased to see Alicia stand up to Dano so strongly, though of course I was disappointed that he didn't make the connection between her being there and her not fleeing, as Tony had claimed. But I guess it's too soon in the TN for that.

Am I right that in the trailers for tonight's episode, Don Julio announces "La encontré"? Does he really succeed in locating Eva? I guess I'll have to tune in and find out.

Again, MANY thanks, Jardinera.

Kalum, I'm under the impression that "Eva Luna" will be shown tonight at its regular time, since the State of the Union address starts at 9 (EST). "Triunfo del Amor" will start an hour late because of this, but not "Eva Luna." If I'm wrong, please let me know.

Great job!

I almost lost my dinner when Julio was chewing Alicia out and saying he hated Eva. I would never forgive anything like that. What he said to Icky with the T-word is to be expected.

And while he didn't specifically say he would marry her, she -- and Marcela -- will take it that way.

Which would be their in-the-meantime plan. Wasn't Marcela planning to murder Daniel after he married Icky in the first place so she would inherit his share of the company (that is, if Icky murdered Laurita first)?

Hi all! Yeah, a very satisfying episodio I'd say, despite Dano and Icky mooning over each other. Somehow I don't think marriage will enter into it, but I could be wrong! It will probably take Eva or Matilde hearing the news from the society gossips about the will for Eva to go to the police. What do you all think? I can just imagine her running the business and making life a living Hell for Marcy if she keeps her on as "hired help". LMAO!!
===========
Audrey: Hey! You got to stick it out cuz you're on the rollercoaster and if you jump --SPLAT! LOL!
===========
Juanita/Kalum: I also checked and yeah, Eva will be at the regular time. They've moved Triunfo back an hour to 9 Eastern/ 8 Central time. Set your recorders accordingly!!! You don't want to miss this next one, I'm sure!

Jardinera, Masterful recap!! I was giggling here in the office, sounding like a mad hatter...
one thing, when the lawyer began talking, what he was showing them was a plastic accordeon envelope where he had copies of the titles to all of Julio's properties (this is same info Marcela was gathering at the office that morning... a list of all the assets). he offered marcela to look them over before reading the will, she said she knew them well, and Leo said he trusted her if she said it was not neccessary. Then the lawyer began reading... and I loved the camera focusing on Marcela's face so sure that the lawyer would mention her name when he said the name of the heir of half of Julio's fortune.. and her jaw dropping when he said 'MISS EVA GONZALEZ'... Priceless!
Loved your snark comments... I wan to be sitting right by you on that first row when Eva gets Marce kicked out... along with V-EEkEE and Leo'tard...
I was too busy laughing to think of throwing a shoe at the screen...
LOVED Julio's monologue of what he was sure was happening at his house... the toast to the viper was a great final statement.
I loved the fact that Matilde did note to Eva that just like all the evidence points to her the same thing might be happening with her accusing Dano...
Did I miss something? How would Matilde know Julio or his relation to anyone? Or are you still assuming Julio is Eva's dad? What was it that Matilde did not catch or have a lightbulb go on in her head about?

Jardinera,

WOW OH WOW, what a great recap and episode.
I to was like "really Daniel" with him and wanting to be there for Ick-toria. Blech and fart(something smells bad)
Man he's going to have some whole to dig himself out of. Eva's going to make it very very hard for him to get back into her good graces, after his vicky thing. He keeps telling eveyone how much he HATES her. What? does he not think that she doesn't know that, since she heard him tell Leo that he hates her. Man was I laughing my butt off at Marcella lost of complete control, when that will was read. First she blamed Leo, then Daniel, then Reneta, then Eva. but not once did she blame herself for the problems she now has (NO MONEY). I hoping Daniel will sleep on his conversation (yelling match)with Alicia and start to figure things out; like if she (alicia) and Eva ran away why does Alicia have a job at the company. Michele in PA

Pata: You're probably right on target about the way Bruno's stealing from under Marcela's pillow...so to speak. She definitely deserves this. Anyway, I wonder what he'll do once he realizes she's left without the proverbial chamber pot let alone the window to throw it out of!

Poor Bruno... one word from Eva and he is HISTORY!!! lol i love it!

ITA with you all that Dano seemed to have left his brain back home and nothing that Alicia shouted to him made him doubt his own version of the facts.
Loved the insult over injury to leave the jewelry of his mother and former wife to his daughter instead of Marce... She REALLY just got left with the gift of humility... he did not miss anything.
Another interesting thing is he did not leave any of them any property nearby... Renata was shipped to Mex, leo and Vicky were left with properties in Miami and NY, the only one that was given a place to live nearby was EVA!! with both the cabin and the mansion.

As far as the previews, I am afraid Julio will call Matilde's house and ask for Eva but by the time Eva gets to the phone she will think it is some other man (Dano or someone from police, remember, she thinks Julio is dead) so she will not get to talk to Julio. I hope I am wrong but I am afraid the reunion will not be that soon...

Martai: Thanks for the correction. I worked it into the recap for us. As for Matilde, in the beginning when Ismael and the girls need a place to stay, she says she got them rooms at a boarding house run by a friend of hers so the place will be respectable. Did I misinterpret that part?

Also, Dan didn't know that Eva was staying with Leo at the apartment when he went berserk after seeing the photos. He thought Leo was with some other bimbo of his cuz Leo told him Eva'd fooled him too.

Oh and I forgot LOVE LOVE that Eva made it to tia tilda home. now she can stop sleeping on the beach in LA. really writers that is not a safe thing to do in any major American city.

Marta I know I might be crazy but I'm still holding out the Eva is Julio's daughter.

Michele in PA

Matilde's friend was Justa and Justa probably had not told Matilde anything about her past story or connection with Julio... so Eva having a sponsor old guy helping her out might not neccessarily ring any bell for Matilde...

one more thing about the hard to watch scene with Tomas and Adriancito... Adriancito told his dad that his teachers think he can be a great engineer in the future... I hope that when all is said and done either Eva or Dano sponsor Adriancito through college so he can go as far as he wants to... After all, Laurita can use a good boyfriend/brother figure in college when the time comes...

I think it's great that Eva will be living next door to Daniel and V-Icky, if V-icky moves in with Dan. She will have to swallow hard every time she looks next door and worry that Daniel will secretly still be in love with Eva. If she moves away to Miami or N.Y, then she loses all control over Dan. Bimbutt loses on either account!

MichelePA: I was wondering what Deborah's connection to Julio might have been, too. Maybe not his daughter, but perhaps he could have been a distant relative of Eva's somehow?

Jardinera, you have given us a Masterpiece. Everything is in there, jot and tittle.

So, poor punk Tony is going to go up against rich manipulative, mean Leo. Rots o' Ruck

Dan still spitting nails at Alicia--what an image. I think he was also spitting spit.

When is Marisol going to start adding things up--Daniel...where has she heard that name before? Oh, he's her dear Francisco's chofer.

To be fair, I think DonJ should have left Marcie a $20 bill, at the very least--that adds up to about $1 for every year he had to tolerate her.

Well now, Bruno, with the business in someone else's hands, how long are you going to keep sucking up the ick and continue to nuzzle Marcie. Oh, maybe he'll take on V-ick and Leo at the same time.

Eva had better find a protector real soon with Tony, Leo and Marcela all gunning for her. Leo wants her alive and Marcela wants her dead. Tony wants her ruined, but not too ruined or Alicia will dump him. For now, she's still Tony's meal ticket from Leo.

Juanita--Don J does indeed say, La encontre; encontre a Eva. I was hoping he would go to the pension and find Justa. I guess that's still a couple of episodes away.

UrbAnth - IA, Dan is doing some waffling regarding V-icky. He's not ready to commit himself after all he's been through with her, but I think he does have a soft spot where she's concerned, after their long history together. It wasn't all bad--he just realized recently he wasn't in love with her. Hating Eva I don't think will change that.

IAA that Dan didn't use the famed "casarte conmigo" words, but Vicky will probably interpret it that way. Too bad, since this is a TN and Daniel and Eva have to get back together, so she's going to be sorely disappointed--as will Marcela.

Can't wait to see how officialdom is going to sort out the fact that Eva is a multi-millionaire, accused of stealing 25K!

Marta,

but they showed Eva on the phone last nite, with very big eyes and a look of wonder on her face. So someone called her.

We shall see tonight. Look forward to 2morrows discussion.

Does anyone know if Eva's aunt met Justa in the hospital? IMO Tia tilda is involved or knows something, with what happened in that hospital and the babies. because she has some very very strong feeling against Debra, and you would think that if Debra was such a really bad person, she (tilda) would want Debra out of the girls life , so she (tilda) would have been happy that Debra left. Something not adding up between Tilda and Debra.

Is it only me but did Alicia find some maturity and 'guts' when she found a job that she is particularly good at (the makeup artist for the agency)... and now she is more assertive and will even stand her ground in her sister's name facing Dano... A few days ago before Leo hired her she would never have confronted Dano like this.

What other ways can Julio find to make 'Cruella' loose her (estilo: cool)? how about calling the tabloid press and have her picture taken and published front page in a not so 'favorable' pose, maybe even a compromising situation with Bruno (granted, she is now a widow but if the picture is compromising enough and, lets remember we are talking about tabloid press here, she will be furious).

Jardinera comment at 11:06--Yes, Justa's pension was recommended to the Gonzales family as a decent place to stay and Justa was an old friend-acquaintance. Beyond that we don't know what their history was. It could be intriguing, though.

Boy, while I was writing my comments, at least 10 got posted, so I apologize for duplication.

Jardinera, thank you for the delightful recap.

I do not think Don Julio did Eva any favor leaving her with almost everything. Leo will try and marry her, Icky will try to marry Dan and Marcy will try to kill them all. This is going to be a very rough ride till the finish line.

I laugh every time I hear about the $25,000 mil dollars which as of this morning converts to $2,066.20 USD. I cannot believe that the LAPD has the time or resources for this nonsense. Obviously, the writers are not targeting this very bright group on Caray, Caray.

I do not think that Tomas is Adrian father. Someone needs to look into Tomas' background.

It should be interesting when Bruno finds out Marcela is pennyless. Maybe he will start hitting on Eva.

When is Debra going to become part of the plot?

Rosemary

What would happen if Bruno, and vicky hooked up. Remeber the engagment party. besides he'll need money and she get's quarter of money plus the house I think. Michele in PA

Remember Bruno's issue was with Marcela... so part of his motive now that marcela is pennyless is gone... but he might still go after Eva (why go for Vicky if he can get double the payoff?)... we'll see... i bet their main motive was money after all...
And I agree that now with everyone targetting Eva after she is the 'heredera', Julio has not done her a huge favor... not for now until the dust settles and he can find a way to protect her...

Awesome recap Jardinera. Thank you!
As Pata stated, it was a jam packed episode and you did an AMAZING job on the recap. Juanita, I agree with you, how can Dano be so inconsiderate about Laurita's feelings towards Vicky? how can he be such a fool? He needs to follow the advice he gave Eva and "don't believe anything Leo says" grrrrrr. Dano I'm so mad at you!! you deserve everything coming your way, as a matter of fact, I'm not even sure you are good enough for Eva.. I know I'll change my mind later, but as of today, I'm very dissapointed with you!
Alicia, I was proud of you last night for standing up to ding dong Dano, you made me proud girl!
Ay Don Julio... I love you! You are the rich grandpa I never had but always wanted.
Counting the hours to watch tonights episode.. tata everyone.

~Rossana~

I still say bruno and his cousin have a second motive besides money... as if Marcela killed someone dear to them or ruined their family... remember the woman who used to care for Julio and her brother both got killed with the 'spiked coffee'... so Marcela's list of victims must be quite long.

Wow, what a recap, beautifully done. I wish I had watched it, I'll try to see it tonight on the web, don't want to miss onglovewonder's look on her face when the will was announced. Will return to watching this when Daniel stops being so stooopid. Until then, wonderful recaps. thank you.

The lawyer in me says: Hey, a will does take effect until the testator dies. Julio lives on So, all these bequests are set for naught.

Frankie3

Ooops, left off the word "not.". A will does not take effect until the testator dies.

So how are the writers going to handle this monstrous reality?

(lawyer has just told Marcela that Julio did all this in complete privacy/secrecy) I loved the moment that out-of-control Cruella stood up and yelled at the lawyer 'I should have known about this! You should have notified me!!' and the lawyer just stares at her and asks 'Excuse me?'

I agree that the will and all its statements are invalid once Julio is known to be alive... but by then maybe Cruella has made mistakes due to her lack of control (and I think that is what Julio is banking on when he keeps repeating that with all this Cruella will lose her 'estilo' (style/control) which has been flawless so far, and sending her little surprises to add fuel to the fire of her anxiety/
nervousness/anger). You tend to make mistakes when you are anxious/angry.
Also, by the time it is known that he is alive, the doctor will have the proof that she was poisoning him so all he__ will have broken loose for Cruella.

It'll be wise for Don Julio to stay "dead" till Marcella is in jail paying for all the evil things she has done. If he "resurrects" after she is in jail, it'll all be okay.

Marta,

I thought that the doctor already had his proof b/c the test on the first bottle came back positive.

but regardless Julio has to stay dead to everyone except Eva. b/c shes going to need him on her side when she comes out of hiding.
Michele in PA

Thank you Jardinera for the long and detailed recap of this complicated chapter.
I wonder if Frank the lawyer also noted: Marzilla owns half of whatever property Julio accumulated since they were married according to CA divorce laws. (So in real life she'd have to share that house with Eva which would be hysterical).
Yeah, Julio isn't really dead, so the point is moot, it seems he is doing this to expose Marzilla's evil doings.
I take back any bad things I ever said about Alicia who is looking more and more like a rocket scientist compared to Eva.

I doubt the writers are taking CA divorce laws into consideration.. Emarie, you made me laugh so hard, the thought of Eva and Marcella sharing the mansion, lol, you just never know.

Frankie3: Welcome! Do we have another male telenovela lover to add to our group? If so, terrific! You will be pampered and exalted. LOL! Don't know how many of these things you've watched, but the writers do tend to stretch reality at times to the snapping point. In order to deal you'll have to get a beanie to altar your reality in order to block out common sense and little things like legal realities! LOL! For you and Emarie, I seem to remember the lawyer telling Julio that what he did was illegal. Thus the false identity, but I would imagine that when this is over he will either be dead for real or he could put the house, etc. in one of those trusts for her use, and Marcy will either die or be sent to prison for life so that situation may be moot. If alive, the court may say he did it to catch a serial murderer and forget charging him. What say you?

Rossana/Emarie: I'm right there laughing too!

Emarie,

You're right if CA is a community property state. So the writers have that problem too.

Then there's the "little" matter of a forged death certificate for Julio's doctor friend. And of course ther'e's a little criminal problem for Julio as well in faking his death. But the writers will probably end his time on earth so as to avoid any punishment for him.

Jardinera,

I've been a lurker on Caray for a few years now.

I always enjoy and appreciate your recaps so much. You' re a most talented writer!

And you sure know your Spanish. Most of us are lost when the CC goes out. But not Jardinera.

My CC was going out last night, too. I picture some little guy somewhere typing as fast as he can, and by golly, when Alicia and Dan were screaming at each other the CC guy just couldn't keep up, and neither could I, thank you Jardinera for including all of that.

A wonderful recap and I needed it, because so much was going on for me last night that I know I missed bits. Thank you again! I LOLed at several spots.

WOW, a LOT happened last night, didn't it? I hope that Don Julio gets in contact with Eva soon. She needs some good news right about now!

I was SOOOO disappointed in how clueless Danny was being when he saw Alicia. How can he not question why she's there, holding down a job, instead of being on the run with her crooked sister in some other town, looking for another rich man to bilk? Connect the dots, Danny, connect the dots. . .

A lot of intricate plots going on right now. I can hardly wait to see what happens next!

I have a question. Do any of you know about the new "galan" this soap is introducing soon? His name of Vadhir Derbez. What will his role be, I wonder?

Yikes, Rossana, I knew nothing about a new galán and had never heard of the person you mentioned, but I googled him, and esmas had some info and a photo. He's 19 (20 next month)! A boy toy for Alicia? Or perhaps for Marisol (since he needn't carry a sign around saying how young he is)? Where did you hear that he would be appearing in this TN?

Juanita,

ITA about the new guy boy toy for Alicia; but that doesn't make good since, b/c then she'll have Carols, Tony, Leo , and new guy. Nope my bet he's for someone else but I don't know who maybe Vicky. then she can be a cougar, and leave Daniel alone.
Michele in PA

Vahdir Derbez just won the dancing contest in Univision sunday nights, he is also the son of Eugenio Derbez who has several weekend afternoon shows on Univision. He is a comedian. I wonder if Vhadir will be brought in as a pairing for perhaps Alicia. I doubt it would be for Vicky or Laurita or Jackie or Marisol, perhaps Eva will spend some time in apple country again and he will be coming in interested in her. Or maybe he will be a model hired for the agency?

I want Carlos to slap some sense into Alicia when he gets out, perhaps lay her on his lap and slap her rear for a while.

maybe with Eva's new money she can now help Carlos get out of jail. Hey does she even know that Carlos went to jail b/c he was helping Alicia out of a jam. I hope Alicia tells Eva when she comes out of hiding that she needs to help her get Carlos out of jail. That will go a long way b/c even though she didn't visit him, at least she's making attempt to help him now.

As for the new guy why can't he be for Jacky that way, it will bring Francisco into line for her?

posted by Michele in PA

Vadhir Derbez is cute and probably being added for Alicia.

I just checked out his picture. He's only about 3 weeks away from being 20, but he looks awfully young (unless it's an old picture) to be paired with either Alicia or Jacky and too old for Laurita.

What do you all think about Carlos for Jacky? I don't think she deserves a knucklehead like Francisco. Except that in TN's es el corazon que manda, so she has no choice but to keep pining for Frano.
Una Nte

Oh, and Rosemary, since they are living in L.A. (USA), the check for 25K that V-ick made Eva cash was already in USD. Still, not enough to make the front pages of even a tabloid.
Una Nte.

Thanks again, everyone for making this some quality time!! Things are heating up so I hope all you fraidy cats stick around! This is when the "pain" we suffer pays off! LOL!

Info link to new "galan" in Eva Luna. They are not disclosing much, but it made me wonder.

http://novelasyseries.univision.com/eva-luna/fotos/slideshow/2011-01-24/vadhir-derbez-un-galan-en

I found out through face book, click the "others" tab on Eva Luna's page and you'll find the link there.

Rossana: Sorry, amiga, but Melinama has a rule that we cannot discuss something that hasn't happened next in the show. It spoils it for the rest of those who haven't seen it and don't want to know. I am supposed to delete any post that might do that. So I had to delete your last post. I hope you'll understand. Thanks!

No, I'm sorry! I was just getting my info from novelasyseries Univision site I almost spilled the beans again, I guess I won't since I know better. Thanks for making me aware!

I am really running out of barf bags when watching Dano and Vicky... I just cover my ears and concentrate on his eyes... and imagine he is talking to Eva instead.
But that said..
LOVED the way marcela is suffering and the fact that she is ALREADY making major mistakes talking to her lawyer about killing Eva and her family... Julio was so right. The lawyer was just being honest with her and she totally lost it calling him USELESS and INCOMPETENT... adn the last thing a proffessional and experienced lawyer wants to hear is THAT. So now she will have to give him some of her spiked coffee as well.
Cruella totally volatile now. easy pickins for some shark waiting at the sidelines for the right moment to strike like Bruno... who knows.
LONG LIVE DON JULIO!! he was sooooo sweet to Alicia last night. Hopefully Leo won't be so successful at convincing her but since she has the hots for him and she does not know any better of him, she might tell him too... Julio told the Doctor that Eva's aunt lived in a little town nearby where they are so crossing fingers Dr will let Julio get there first.
Loved the fact that the cards now state a different story and lots of money for Eva... bout time this girl gets something other than the short stick. Now lets hope that she does get to see Don Julio.
LOVED the fact that the previews say she can't touch a single dollar in her bank accounts.

sorry, should have said the previews say MARCELA can't touch a single dollar in her bank accounts. Eva doesn't even know she has them yet. lol

Marta,

I'm right with you that Daniel is now a waste of our time, as long as he's in love with Ick-toria. Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot was he doing kissing Ick-toria last nite, now in her crazy mind there's going to be a boda.

I too am hoping D. Julio makes it to Eva before Tony. Remember that little rat bastard overhead Alicia conversation with her Aunt. And he was missing the rest of the show. My fear is that its Tony at the door to Tia Tilda's house. And I hope she puts him off long enough for Julio to get to her.

I totally agree with you about Mad Marcy coming apart on the lawyer, and saying she wanted to kill Eva. B/c now if something happens to Eva that lawyer is a witness to say that Marcella threatened said victims life. LOL SHE'S GOT NO MONEY (Marcy) bank accounts are frozen. Michele in PA

I doubt Tony knows where Aunt tilde lives... but that said, I really hope Don Julio is the one at the door and this does not get dragged another week or so. I really want to watch Eva waltz back into the Arizmendi castle as the owner and begin to do some major overhaul of getting rid of trash.

Michele, since Tony was eavesdropping I paid attention to what Alicia would say and she never really revealed the location of Eva, just that she did not want to go there herself. So we still have hopes...

Randomness 1:
Searching through endless piles of bank statements, bills, final demands etc. for my latest MOT certificate ( didn't find it ) I came across a scrap of paper with a list of strange names in my handwriting. I've got no idea who these people are/were/should be, but they sound like the coolest mobsters from Groovetown: Whiskey Stretton, Hugo Delaney, Clarence Diamond,
