La Verdad Oculta EP91 01/25/2011 – Carlos and Adolfo love Yolanda; Viewerville loves Julio Alemán
*At Zaida’s Psycho Eddie and Milady de Braless have a pleasant night filled with bickering, drinking, and meaningful, lustful looks, and eventually in the bedroom they discover they have much in common. Sexy sax time. In the meantime Yolanda’s maid calls Carlos because she’s very worried about the lady. Back to Zaida. After the exercise the exhausted lovers discuss why Zaida freaked out at Elsa’s, and Édgar learns about a letter that is very important for the woman.
* Carlos arrives at Yolanda’s condo, breaks the locked door of the bedroom, and when he realizes she tried to kill herself, he desperately tries to wake her up. At Zaida’s Elsa shows up to reproach her for manhandling Caramelo. Oh come on, they were just playing, that fool JJ misinterpreted the situation! Really? Elsa doesn’t know who to believe but she surely doesn’t want to see Édgar in her flat again. After she leaves Eddie asks Zaida if she wants to enter Elsa’s flat to look for the letter. And how? Don’t worry, Eddie knows how to do it. Two minutes later he’s in front of Ulises’s door: he pulls a very sad face and then he wakes his best friend up. Sorry for bothering him, but he’s been so kind to him and Eddie needs to speak with a friend… Of course, sit down, and tell daddy Ulises what his problem is. Errr, could he give him something to drink… a cup of coffee, maybe? While Ulises is in the kitchen Édgar steals the key for Elsa’s flat and when his golden-hearted pal returns to him, he tearfully confesses to him he has a very bad relationship with his mother.
*Carlos heartbreakingly cries over Yolanda body until he finds out she’s still alive. Then the frightened boy drives her to the hospital like a madman. Why did you do that, Yolanda, how could you be that stupid, please, react! Although inside he claims to be his son, he can’t stay with her, he has to wait outside. Next morning a nurse tells him the doctors managed to save Yolanda’s life. Carlos calls his tired, disheveled father who freaks out when he learns what happened to his redhead helpmate.
* After learning that Zaida isn’t interested in any kind of emotional relationship, Édgar presents the keys to the lady. However, they don’t find anything in the flat, and they run into Elsa in the hallway – but luckily Zaida manages to distract her with a few sweet words. Worried Adolfo arrives at the hospital where Carlos gives him a heads up. The boy doesn’t like Dolphie’s rude behaviour towards him, and warns him to be careful because in that moment he can’t tolerate anything from him. Finally a doctor shows up and tells the Ávilas that Carlos brought Yolanda in the hospital just in time. They may visit her now. Me first, says Adolfo. Inside he learns from the doctor she’s still in a very bad shape and she obviously has no will to live. He shakily approaches her, caresses her face and begs her: Yolanda, wake up! Please, react. She can’t do that to him, he’s all alone, don’t leave him, please.
* Zaida’s legs, smile and chest show up at JJ’s and gives reluctant and frightened Caramelo a notebook that calms the little girl down. They become friends quickly, and Zaida learns Caramelo couldn’t read The Letter. By the way, does Zaida have letters? Of course, she’s got hundreds! Tomorrow she’ll bring them along and they could bargain. She gives Cara a letter if she gets another in return. *Viewerville: clever* However, the girl doesn’t own the famous letter anymore, she’s given it to Chicles. Oh, no! When Asunción arrives at home Zaida says goodbye to her newest best friend forever and in the garden tries to charm Chicles, too. She invites him for an ice-cream, but the genius mini-goon finds her behaviour suspicious. She convinces him she’s JJ’s friend, they met in Puerto Vallarta, doesn’t he remember her? Oh yes, she came with the man who had that suitcase! Oops. Zaida looks around hoping that nobody heard that.
*In the hospital Carlos is allowed to visit Yolanda at last. While he’s begging to Yolandita to wake up and promising her that he’ll take care of her and won’t let anybody hurt her, outside Adolfo gets a phone call from Eddie who tells him the strange story of Caramelo, JJ and the chalkboard. Apparently Zaida is very interested in a letter. Adolfo’s all ears, and says he needs that letter by any means.
* After having an exhausting night and a VERY long sleep, Juan José and Alejandra declare their love for each other again. Alejandra tells him about the great show Gabriela, David and Mario performed at the council, which JJ finds interesting, but obviously his mind is on something else. Sexy sax time again.
* While Chicles is eating a big cup of delicious ice-cream, Zaida is asking him if he has many letters. Hell yes! And where does he keep them? He hid them. And… What about THAT letter? Where did he get that? He found it in Puerto Vallarta. In the meantime Elsa visits her new favourite boss who’s very satisfied with her work and gives her a check. He asks her about her daughter and her ex-boyfriend (is there any chance of getting together again?), and gives her another name, address and an expensive necklace to sell.
*In the bar Zaida offers 1000 pesos for the letter but warns Chicles not tell anyone about their transaction. His mother and Juan José wouldn’t let him keep the money. In the Genovés villa another trap is set for furious Adolfo who visits FaustiMario. While he’s telling Mario he’s in a hurry and don’t dare waste his time, at the headquarters David and Leo watch them on a TV screen. Mario tells him he has proof that Dolphie killed Marta. Viewerville and Adolfo: yawn.
* Zaida gives Chicles 50 pesos and asks him to go home for the letter. Great! Chicles runs back to JJ’s house, where his angry mom prohibits him to leave the building again. No, young man, you won’t spend your whole life on the streets! While Zaida is waiting for him in the bar, Chicles is forced to study. However, his stomach hurts much, so Lucha and Asunción learn he spend the afternoon with a specific lady. Oops.
* Adolfo finds Mario’s newest accusation amusing, did he seriously think he would fall for such an old trick? But all right, show him that proof! No way, says Mario, but Adolfo knows perfectly what proof he is talking about. Of course he knows it: Mario has nothing! That tumor inside his head surely made him demented! Mario should spend his time with more productive activities. Oh, and one more thing. Adolfo doesn’t believe that a waitress became a professional manager from one day to the next. He’ll find out what happened and he will kick the the Genovéses out of the Campo Real management.

Aribeth, I cannot wait to read your recap. So, Adolfo does have a tiny heart buried in his grinch like personna.
And Carlos, (whom I'd already forgiven his transgressions), I'm now even starting to care for.
So glad that I decided to stay up until 12:30 so I didn't miss this.
Presents and lures: Computer. Ice Cream. Pesos. Dazzling diamonds.
Thanks for the links Jeri!
Diana
Poor Carlos was breaking my heart last night. And then Adolfo! Who knew he had a heart?! So glad they managed to save Yolanda, but doesn't seem to have the will to live.
Loved all the intrigue with the kids and Zaida. Computers, ice cream, cake, and 1,050 pesos! Those kids are doing well!
And Zaida decides to amuse herself with Edgar. Well, he is a warm body, and she has a big bed... All Ulises got out of him was a shared coffee and a sob story about his mommy issues. :)
Thank you for the links Jeri.
I felt bad for poor Carlos. He was seeing his father obviously upset over Yolanda and yet for his own son he has never shown any warm feelings or concern at all. Another trip to the therapist for poor Carlos.
Zaida is getting close to the letter and all she had to fork out was a computer for Caramelo and ice cream and a few pesos for Chicles. Pretty cheap, Garnica had to pay much more, lol.
I loved how Caramelo tried shutting the door in Zaida's face. So funny, but Zaida put on all her charm and even got a kiss from Caramelo when she left. Just laughed when Chicles got a stomach ache just at the right moment.
Please, please, please, I really don't want that letter to be found. It is so much more fun like this, having it almost being found or read by an adult. I will really be upset if Zaida somehow gets her hands on it, lol.
Margaret
Good evening/day ladies, I'm working on the recap.
Adolfo's affection for Yolanda surprised and impressed me, and I found it lovely that in the hospital Carlos kept referring to Yolanda as his mother.
OK, What's wrong with these pictures?
YOLANDA
Adolfo leaning over Yolanda, barely touching her and telling her you can't do this to me. Don't leave me. I'm all alone.
Carlos leaning over Yolanda, kissing her, touching her and telling her I'll take care of you, I'm not going to let anybody hurt you.
Hmmmm.
JJ's HOUSE
Even in their neighborhood, how is it that Caramelo is answering the door by herself. Where is Lucha? Shouldn't she be in charge? I'm surprised Limon didn't make more of a fuss over Zaida's gift since he knows that Zaida is bad news for JJ. Zaida is quite a weasel.
How is it that Chicles left the premises without letting his mother know and go off with someone he barely knows? Good for Lucha showing up (better late than never) and cancelling his trip back.
Hmmmm.
ELSA
When Dante brought up her ex-novio and where their relationship stood, she hedged. She clearly was pensive and considering the two of them getting back together as a possibility. Was she thinking about Mauricio or JJ? Was Dante talking about Mauricio or JJ?
EDGAR
He certainly made himself look like the hero when he called Avila about the connection between Caramelo and the letter. (Oh, and thanks, Vivi for setting me straight yesterday over Zaida's knowledge of the importance of the letter.) Does he not think that Zaida's version is not compatible if she talks to Avila--it probably doesn't matter. How is he going to get the key back before Ulises realizes it's gone--it probably doesn't matter.
-------
Well, fortunately for viewerville, the letter is still in the hands of the good guys, but $1K is certainly a big temptation for a little boy who is fascinated by all things (and people) big and powerful.
I had to laugh at Zaida's perfunctory search of Elsa's apt. to look for the letter. Did she really think it was going to be behind the cushions?
"Mario" forgot to bring up the fact that the prueba he had was the cufflink turned into a ring. I'm glad he did, otherwise, Adolfo would know Carlos betrayed him.
Back to waiting for the recap and more comments.
Newbie-One
Asuncion should have been much more suspicious of the motives behind Zaida's gift. For someone who spent his life on the street Asuncion is pretty naive.
Are we to assume that JJ and Alejandra were "upstairs" the whole time Zaida was with Caramelo?
One other thing I have been wondering about: Doesn't JJ realize who Edgar is? I thought JJ had to pass through the security guards a couple of times to see David and/or Alejandra. He should recognize Edgar.
Was anyone nervous when he ran the red light like David did a few episodes back. I was nervous that since he left the car door open, he would find it gone when he went back out to possibly park it but he never left the emergency room.
Zaida is trying to charm Caramelo and Chicles to get that blasted salsa stained letter. I couldn't believe that he actually left with her for some ice creme and was about to give her the letter if his mother hadn't stopped him. Wonder what will JJ and Elsa say about the laptop she bought for Caramelo?
Looking forward to checking in either tomorrow or Friday, depending on how bad the snow storm alredy in progress here gets. Please stay warm and safe everyone.
Diana
Pirate babe--Not only was I nervous about Carlos running the red light, but I was nervous when I saw that the emergency entrance at the hospital had a whole flight of steps for him to carry Yoli up, jaja (QTHeck?).
Newbie-One
Sniff...Carlos. A three-hanky scene. I just luv that boy.
Diana, wishing you the best and hope to see you again tomorrow -- that you're not snowed in.
Newbie, I loved your comment. Hell yes, Adolfo is an awfully selfish old man but I think he does love Yolanda. Not the same way Carlos loves her, or Fausto loves his daughters, but she's the only person he ever cared about. She's the only one he protects and whom he wouldn't kill.
Oh Diana, I wish you the best. Damned snow.
Gawd, Ale and JJ had an extremely long night.
- Engagement, love scene
- Gaby, David love scene
- NEXT MORNING Gaby meets Juli and Fausto
- Fausto and Leo have a conversation
- Asunción brings Cara home
- Yolanda tries to kill herself
- Zaida and Édgar have sex
- Carlos finds Yolanda
- Elsa visits Zaida
- Eddie steals the key and makes up a bullshit cover story
- Carlos brings Yolanda in the hospital
- NEXT DAY Zaida and Eddie break into Elsa's flat
- Adolfo visits Yolanda
- Zaida visits Caramelo
- Carlos visits Yolanda
And FINALLY Ale and JJ wake up. :)
What a day! Heavy snow that made the trip home from the middle of the city to the NE quadrant nearly impossible. I'm for sure working from home tomorrow.
First of all, 1000 thanks to Yolanda's maid for quickly making the call to Carlos. I was so glad to see him break down that door.
I thought he was a little slow to
react proactively but happy that he decided to waste not another minute and take matters into his own hands. In real life, I've never seen an emergency entrance with steps, but the scene certainly did provide drama for viewers.
I believe the first time that Adolfo showed his high regard for Yolanda was when he instantly defended her against Bertha's insult. We had hurricane winds for a while in Florida last night and my TV signal konked out twice during Verdad. The first time was right after Adolfo told Yolanda he
was all alone. I thought I missed more of what Adolfo said, but I didn't see anything else in the recap. I am very happy that beautiful Yolanda is still alive.
Three cheers for Elsa in telling Psycho Eddie to butt out and stay clear of her place. However, as we
have often discussed here, when people speak out, there can be retaliation, and scum bag Edgar immediately proved that by masterminding the home invasion.
I used to be worried about Elsa living alone in that little old flat when Carlos and Roberto would drop by at will. Now I am even more worried about her living
in the new place. Not only is she working for the Devil Incarnate but she lives across the hall from
two of his most dangerous pprentices.
As I remarked before, there have been instances of lax supervision of the children, but there again,
this laxity unquestionably offers suspense and intrigue. In the time that Chicles was with Z, he could have easily been kidnapped,
but there again, if you read or saw
the Ranson of Red Chief, you will know that Chicles would most certainly give the nappers a run for their money.
Margaret, I hope you are feeling better.
Loved all the comments.
Thanks again Aribeth; great job!
Newbie, I thought Dante was referring to Mau as the boyfriend that Elsa had broken up with. She did hedge on the answer.
Xint, I too couldn't believe that Asuncion accepted such a big, expensive gift from Ziada. Elsa wouldn't have permitted that extravagance.
Aribeth, loved your descriptive phrases today, "Psycho Eddie and Milady de Braless, Zaida’s legs, smile and chest show up at JJ’s, (Chicles) the genius mini-goon, and.......Sexy sax time. You really punched-up our already exciting episode. Thanks.
Newbie, I thought Dante was referring to Mau as the boyfriend that Elsa had broken up with. She did hedge on the answer.
I agree Floridia about Elsa, "Not only is she working for the Devil Incarnate but she lives across the hall from
two of his most dangerous (a)pprentices.". They are all much too close for comfort.
I agree and also have felt for a long time that these families are living in another age where it was once a little safer to have kids answer the door and be out on the street by themselves. But that time is gone in most cities in the U S and in D F, for certain.
Aribeth, thanks for the laughs amidst your descriptive helpful recap. I almost missed LVO since it came on at 12:30. I was thinking Ultima Hora was going to be on for an hora until 1 am but I just checked back since I don't trust crazy Uni. I just missed a couple of minutes. Jeri, thanks for the links which I used.
GinCA
Thank you Aribeth for the fantastic recap.
Enjoyed reading everyone's comments.
Margaret
Zaida's frightening, masterful manipulation of both children was indeed rather horrifying. How quickly Caramelo went from slamming the door in her face to cozying up complacently? Ack.
Ahh Carlos. I hope you have your dear Yolanda back with you shortly.
Thanks again Aribeth.
Diana
Sandy & Vivi--In Dante's conversation with Elsa: if you replace Mau with JJ the dialog is still absolutely valid. Dante would like her to put in a good word with JJ so he can stay in the project.
Floridia--What a neat association with the Ransom of Red Chief. I saw the movie version when I was quite young and thought it was a hoot. Later I read the story to my grandson, who was about the same age, but it didn't grab him at all--ah, those were the days, no? when you didn't have to compete with World of Warcraft and other dazzling video games.
