Llena de Amor #103 (Mex. 108) Fri 1/7/11 Does This Dress Make Me Look Fat?

Capitulo 108 in which el Lirio de Plato reveals his true identity

Having learned that Oliver is knocking at Heaven's Door, and not in a good way, Manolo, our effeminate little newshound has passed plumb out in the hospital waiting area. During a brief examination, Brandon notices a couple of things that prompt him to conclude that a bit of privacy is in order and sweeps the little guy up in his policeman's arms and carries him to an examining room.

As Vicky allows a green-eyed monster to nibble at her psyche, Manny is coaxing a passable performance out of a pouty prima dona, the increasingly irritable Ilitia... Hey! Is it the camera, or has she added a few pounds? Isn't this a shampoo commercial? What's with those split ends? Oh well, it's done, "That's a wrap, good job, isn't she the best, Victoria?" "Uh... yeah... best model ever... but maybe you should be careful..." "Be careful?" Well, maybe a bit of dieting... looks as though you've picked up a couple of kilos." Meow!

"What the heck happened?" Manolito has come to and is confronted by a suspicious Brandon. "Impostor? ¡Para nada!" But even as he tries to slide to a safer spot, our clever policeman removes Manolo's wig, strips off his mustache (memo to Doris: get better glue), and holds them aloft... "Long time, no see, Gretel Ruiz y de Teresa!" Remember how much trouble the old Gretel used to have getting out the simplest sentence? Well, the two years in the wine cellar has done wonders for her communicative skills. She clearly and quickly explains the reason for the ruse, why it must not be exposed, and doesn't even reveal Vicky's true identity. Well done, Lass. She is in danger, others would be in danger... works for me.... works for Brandon... just fill Oliver in right away... Next!

"If they do see you, they will murder thee." "Alack there lies more peril in thine eye than twenty of their swords... my life were better ended by their hate than death prolongued, waiting of thy love.."

Porcupine boy has moved in on Javi's gig and taken over Romeo's lines. Didn't you just hate it when the older boys would move in and take over and... oh... that's right, I'm the only guy here... nevermind. Well, Javi was doing just fine, but actually doesn't seem to mind Axel's intrusion on his little seduction scene... just wait a couple of years, kid. Dee, however, does seem to mind... OK... no she doesn't , but she's gonna play hard to get, "¿Que hace Ud. aqui, joven Axel?" "The same as Romeo, fighting for you." Ya gotta admit it, Axel's got game.

He explains that he played Romeo in school. Javi is impressed. He even pleads Axel's case. "Now run along kid, don't you have some Borges to read or some flowers to arrange? Let the grownups talk." Axel doesn't actually say this, but you know that he's thinking it. Javi telepathically gets the message and scurries off to finish the sonnet he's writing. Improvising on the Bard's script, Juliet picks up her broom and threatens to sweep the young Montague out of her life.

Now our vain princess is critically evaluating herself in the mirror of her dressing room and is not pleased with what she sees. (Vicky, you should be ashamed of yourself.) "Ay sí, I'm fatter. No puede ser." It's OK, sweetie, Daddy's here... he'll make it all better. "Of course not, Princess, you look, look for youself, divine and gorgeous... like always." Oops... not workin'.
That splat you just heard was Lorenzo's charm falling flat. Seems as though the introduction of a little brother into her life and all that it implied has crippled the fatherly magic that Lo once so deftly wielded. Nopis, not only does his soothing words fail to heal, she inflicts a few wounds on him. "I don't want your hugs or anything you have to offer... go be with your new son... I no longer love you..." Ouch! ... "Ah... and liar... yes, I do look fat"

Back in Verona, Juliet is threatening Romeo with a broom. Hey, I'm rather enjoying this version. He admits to being a jerk. She agrees. He pleads with her to come back. She thinks it over.

Meintras tanto, Vicky stews. She sulks. She pouts. "He doesn't matter to me... Oh heck, yes he does. He matters to me... Get a grip, Marianela, you have to hate him and his mother." I think I speak for all of us in saying that we are wearying of this behavior. She decides to place a phone call.

"Sí, the family Ruiz y de Teresa residence," Bernie answers the phone. Fedra asks who it is. "Marianela... Marianela." She snatches the phone and asks Maianela, "Who do you think you are?" I'm your conscience Fedra." This triggers a flashback to a phone call from a pretty dark-haired woman, "I'm your conscience, Fedra." Help! I don't remember this. But Fedra does. She momentarily loses her composure, damaging a pillow while shouting, "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" Bernardo encourages her to relax as Nereida escorts her to her room. Yikes!

Delicia declines Axel's request to return to his house and with endearing skill, sweeps him toward the door as she gently urges, "¡Sacale! ¡Sacale! ¡Sacale!" This is simply too funny and too cute for words. He understands if she doesn't want to return, but invites her to a publicity event for his daddy's agency. She's doubtful, "I'll be like a bean in a plate of white rice." She'll be his guest if she goes, but she rejects the offer and shoves him out the door... She sighs... She smiles... Oh no! She's charmed. Well at least get a haircut, Axel.

Doris is worried about Oliver. Andres is worried that Doris is more than a friend to Oliver. His cell phone rings. It's Jacki. She's worried about Andres. "Oops, gotta go. Hope your friend is OK. Doris looks thoughtful as Brandon approaches. "How's Manolo?" Oops. Jigs up. "Manolo? I know everything. I know what you did. You disguised Gretel as a man." Gulp!

Vicky enters Manny's office and seeing that he's absent, takes the opportunity to look for clues proving that he is squandering Marianela's fortune. Oh my! every time she bends over, her top falls open. Avert your eyes, Carlos, she's really not your type. Yikes! The safe is open and stacked full of cash. Double Yikes! We're not alone. Lirio de Plata has been here all along. Darth Lily speaks, "Here should be all the proof you need."

Vicky, look what you've done. Poor Ilitia is talking to the mirror. Oh, Nereida is there. "Do I look fat?" "Well sure, you put on weight, but it happens to all women when they get married." Thanks for that, Nereida, you've been a big help. "Well not me. I'm going on a diet first thing tomorrow."

Wellll, you can stop worrying. Here's Super Mau and he still thinks that you look spectacular. How sweet... he wants a kiss. OK, I know this isn't funny, but I saw the previews... and here she is, your BFF, now she'll see what a rapey-snake ole Rapey-Snake is. "¡Mauricio!"

But first, let's check on the Vickster and the Maninblack. Hey haven't we seen all this before. He seems to find it familiar as well. She always seems to be hanging around a safe. As she looks on, he sets about cleaning it out. After all, isn't she the one who suggested that he target Emanuel? She argues with herself as he busies himself loading his case with cash. There's a knock on the door. It's Lorenzo. The masked man gently covers her mouth and whispers, "Don't make me hurt this guy. If I have to, I'll lock you up."

"Kristal, tell your boyfriend to leave me alone because I can't stand him." Now, in her heart, Kristal knows what's going on here, but she asks Mauricio for an explanation anyway. "Hey, she threw herself at me." Well you little rat bastard. Kristal is desperate and turns on her friend. She slaps Ilitia, warns he ex-friend to stay away from her Bebe and warns that she will tell her brother just what kind of woman he married if she doesn't. Stunned, Ilitia rubs her jaw, but it's her heart that's in the most pain.

After having cautioned her to behave, eLdP drops his gloved-hand from her mouth and Vicky answers the door. At first surprised to see her, Lo softens a bit and asks why she's locked in his son-in-law's office. Initially uncomfortable, Vicky answers him with a sweetly seductive smile. Believing his luck may have finally taken a turn for the better, he flashes his best dirtyoldman grin, "Why wouldn't you open the door for me, eh?"

When we return from commercial break, Ilitia vainly wraps up her attempt to open Kris' eyes to her precious Bebe's flaws as a human being, "I tried to warn you, but the love you feel for this sleazeball has made you deaf. Mauricio is an imbecile, the worst scum on the face of this earth. And you can relax because if he were the last man on the face of the earth, I wouldn't go near him... never!" With that, she sweeps out.

Kristal turns on Orangy, "I don't like one bit this game that you have with Ilitia." His short rodential attention span expired quite some time ago, so seeking to end this unpleasantness quickly, Mau concedes a bit of guilt, and tells her that Ilitia offered herself, he's a man (I don't recall stipulating that) and was simply doing what men do. Shocked at his frankness, she wants clarification, "So you're willing to cheat on me with her then?" He reminds her what a choice hunk of lady-flesh her sister-in-law is. Harsh reality begins to set in as Mau goes on to confirm that he has no plans to marry her. "Why don't you respect me, Mauricio?" Fortunately, she is rescued from more self-inflicted humiliation by the appearance of Momma Grizzly, "Drop it Kristal, a woman of your class doesn't beg for the love of a man, much less of a man that's below you." She flees into the protective comfort of Fedra's arms.

Vicky tells Lo that she's just finishing up a project to be approved first thing tomorrow. He regrets that they haven't gotten better acquainted since she arrived and suggests that they go out for a drink. "Sure, but let me call Muñeca first so she won't be worried, because I'm not accustomed to going out with married men." Suddenly Lorenzo thinks another day might be better.

Relieved, she closes the door and is startled as she is once more face to mask with el Lirio de P. He flirts as best he can through the mask

but, for the moment anyway, she's not buying in. She doesn't want him to rob Eman so why doesn't he just run along now? He agrees to do just that, he'll give her the bag of money and leave... if she'll admit that she loves Eman.

Clinging to Fedra, Kristal whines that Mauricio won't marry her. He says that he loves Kristal but doesn't want to be tied down. "I'm going to die, Mama!" Fedra vows that Mauricio will be the one who dies if he doesn't marry her. At last, a voice of reason.

More tiresome, pointless, verbose foreplay between Vicky and the Lirio. She feebly tries to lift his mask. "Don't do that again." Blah, blah, and more blah. You guys settle this, we're going back to check on Fedra and Mau.

Basically Mau likes Kristal as a playmate but doesn't want a matrimonial noose around his neck and Fedra threatens to collect her loan right now if he refuses to marry her. He reminds her that he is the one holding the trump card. "Queen of the Night, remember?" As he leaves she shouts that she will have him at the altar on his knees, but realizes that he has already won this round.

An army of black ants toting guns swarms over the yard at Muñeca's mansion. The head ant, Comisario Tejeda, tells Muñeca that they are expecting el Lirio de Plata to show up and they want to surprise him. Yeah, a full SWAT team in combat gear? I'm sure he'll be surprised.

Over lunch in a barrio diner, Brandon (why isn't he with the SWAT team?) are discussing Gretel/Manolo. She tells him that it was necessary for everyone's safety and though peeved, he can't stay angry with his sister. He even admits that she did an excellent job on the disguise.

Finally outside, el Lirio de Plata has the suitcase of money in one hand and escorts Vicky with the other. They walk up to an appallingly inattentive plainclothes security agent who puts up no resistance as eLdP renders him unconscious with his magical zapper. He tells Vicky to ease up on Manny because he knows that she doesn't hate him. He handcuffs her to a lampost and places the key just out of reach. As he leaves he gallantly tells her that her eyes are the most beautiful he has ever seen. Vicky wonders how she'll ever explain all this.

Muñeca has called Ilitia to tell her that she needs her to look after Manzana and Cristian for bit since the cops have taken over her place. Ilitia can't believe that her mom thinks she even cares about those two. Undaunted Muñeca points out that it'll be an opportunity for her to get to know her little brother. Ilitia balks. Her mom says, "Like it or not, he's your brother." "Well, OK, but at the first tantrum, I'm shipping them back." Muñeca smiles along with us.

Andres rescues Vicky. She tells him that it was el Lirio de Plata and that he robbed Emanuel, "I tried to stop him but couldn't."

Licenciado Pacheco informs the ladies waiting that the surgery was successful and that he can only have one visitor at a time. Just then as they are squabbling over who it will be, Brandon struts in, and in a gesture sure to endear him to every woman watching, announces that it should be Manolo. I want to hug his neck. Manolo is grateful and hurries in. He approaches Oliver quietly, leans in, "I'm here, it's your Little Poison," and gently kisses his lips. Awww. I guess forgetting the one at a time rule, the others crowd in in time to witness the kiss. They gape. The silence is viscous.

At home with Muñeca, Manzana and Cristian are awaiting Ilitia who strolls in complaining. Manzana asks her, "Why are you in a bad mood?" "Why don't you shut up, Ciruela (plum)?" "My name is Manzana (apple) not Ciruela." They hear someone enter. "Flora, is that you?" a worried looking Muñeca calls out. Well, why not? I's el Lirio de Plata. What comes next stokes our worst fears. Iglitia swoons. Just like that... she faints. NOOO!

Gladiola tells Manolo,"Manolo, back up, you'll smother him. What lack of respect. Manolo, how dare you kiss Oliver?" As they all castigate him, Doris rushes in with the news that Brandon had to leave because there is a police operation in progress in which el Lirio de Plata is about to be captured. Before leaving, Netty chews on Manolo some more and then tells him that he is expelled from her guest house.

"Ilitia just passed out." It takes a moment for those low pitched words to reach Muñeca's brain, "Who?" He points to the crumpled heap at her feet. She finally reacts. eLdP kneels and gently lifts Ilitia in his arms, "Is her bedroom upstairs?" "Are you a hero?" the little Apple asks. "Yes, but it's a secret." As he carries Ilitia's limp body to the stairs he orders Muñeca, "Get my bag."She and the children follow.

Vicky paces, Andres calls the police. "Yep, it was el Lirio de Plata." As proof, Vicky holds up a silver lily.

eLrP settles a still unconscious Ilitia into her bed and instructs Muñeca to open the bag. He tells her it's to help with all those that she helps. He affectionately stokes her face with the gloved hand. This tender moment is jarred by shouts of Comisario Tejeda from downstairs, "We know that you're here, Lirio de Plato!" We see that Brandon ha put on his cop clothes and joined in the manhunt. The police begin their search as Fidel attempts to slow them up. Brandon sternly insists.

Señor Plata has Muñeca promise that she will use the money to build a hospital for the children. He contemplates an escape route. Manzana suggests that he open the window and fly away. He tells her that, unfortunately, he hasn't learned to fly... yet. He kneels before Manzana. She offers to hide him under the bed. He liked the idea of flying out the window better. As he is gazing at her, she lifts the mask gingerly and beholds his countenance,

"I know who you are," she whispers.

As the police are taking a report at the company headquarters, Fedra swoops in like a tornado. This is the second time that her family has been victimized. Andres apologizes for inviting her. Lo thinks it strange that he robbed Emanuel's office while Vicky was there and notes that Vicky seemed awfully nervous before he left to go to the restaurant. Andres jumps to her defense, "Of course she was nervous. She was confronted by the thief." Fedra also thinks it more than coincidental that that Vicky was a witness to both burglaries.

Ilitia suddenly comes and begins shrieking. "I saw him!" Brandon heads off in hot pursuit. Muñeca tries unsuccessfully to quiet and soothe her. "He's a good man and I won't let you do harm to him." "That man is a criminal." Manzana speaks up, "That's wrong, I lifted his mask. I know who he is." Uh oh.

Outside they've spotted el Lirio de Plata on the roof. He jumps off.

They surround him.

Great recap Carlos. As you noted, Mari/Vicky's dress doesn't leave much to the imagine when she is bending over. I have to concede that her choice of dress has got to be a not so subtle way of enticing Emanuel. I don't think she's realizing the fire she's stirring in Emanuel but is aware of the mutual fire stirring between her and El Lirio. Manzana will not reveal who El Lirio is because she loves Emanuel so much. Somehow, someway he'll manage to escape the clutches of the police. He has to - he's bent on recovering all that has been stolen from Marianela. I, for one, am looking forward to more scenes with El Lirio, Emanuel, and Mari/Vicky. Nice chemistry.

Loved the recap, snark, and pics Carlos. Count me as another who's enjoying El Lirio and MariVictoria. That pic of you posted of him standing close to her;invading her space. Yowza. Each time they see each other, the sparks fly.

So Manzana has seen El Lirio's face and knows who he is. Loved the cliffhanger of him surrounded by the police with seemingly no way of escape.

I hope Gretel tells everyone who she really is so that she doesn't get put out of the pension.

Thanks BarbaraM and Pirate Babe. This was a fun episode to watch and recap. I know we say it with almost every show, but Delicia just continues to wow us and entertain. She's so refreshing.

BarbaraM, Marivicky and el Lirio Plata really are steaming up the screen with their smoldering heat. His lobbying efforts on behalf of Emanuel are lots of fun.

Pirate Babe, I do hope that Gretel comes clean with Oliver and almost certainly he will since Brandon insists on it, but I'm really enjoying little Manolo, esoecially when he tags along with the police.

Carlos

Masterful, Carlos. I just returned from seeing a special Picasso exhibit at the art museum, and I enjoyed your recap just as much as those paintings, if not more. And I really like Picasso's work, so that's saying something.

Romeo and Juliet...what a delightful version. I loved your take on it, and also appreciated that they bothered to give Axel a reason to know his lines by heart; that he played the role in school (probably making all the girls swoon). Not sure why Javier was into it, but who knows, kids are individuals with their own interests, too.

I think one of my favorite moments of tiny comedy in this episode was Cristián standing there looking down at Ilitia's unconscious form. Either this is one talented little dude, or they do a lot of takes or editing to capture the gems they get from him.

Now I'm super curious about where Manolo's story is going. Surely Gretel will come clean to Oliver when he wakes up, right? Will he then insist he is gay or that he is totally fine with Manolo having kissed him, so that Manolo can stay in the pensión? I don't think they should tell everyone; that is too many people to keep a secret and I don't trust Consuelo at all, even if GretelMan is no direct threat to her.

Carlos, you are a gem! So fun reading your take on events from the male point of view( and yeah-that tunic top - work wear for sure). What a crazy episode you got on Friday.

For while there, I thought Eman might have swapped the get-up with Fidel, and Fidel might be the one surrounded. But when they showed the preview and he shows up at Netty's hurt - would Fidel go there if injured?

And showing himself to the little one? That was a weird move...These kids are just so cute. I admit I watched Christian through most of those scenes more then others - he was so funny in his reactions.

And we have the swoon...can we just smack the writers now if they are going with Ilitia where we think they're going. Peeves me to no end...

Fedra - you comfort your daughter, but you're willing to marry her to that Moron just to keep your "secret". Such motherly love.

As for Delicia, go with electric-socket hair head to the event. I would love love love to see her all dolled up. She'll knock 'em dead.

Oh Carlos, amigo, you just keep getting better and better. This shining star of an episode was made even better as transcribed through your capable hands and insatiable wit.

Delicia was absolutely adorable in her outfit. Please let her not work at Murky Manse any more if only to keep her clothed in civvies. She and Axel are a delight to behold. ITA with Daisy, let her go to the event so Doris can get her all dolled up. And hey, didn't I say that Axel learned his lines in drama?

Julia, I think Javi said in a past episode that he wants to be an actor like Netty, hence his interest in the bard.

I'm worried about Gretel outing herself to one and all. She would be in grave danger from Fedra and Spiderus. She should, however, tell Oliver, just so they can finally let off some steam so to speak. Wait a minute, can't she just go to the police and tell everyone what Fedra and Spidey did to her? Isn't there some kind of law against keeping your kid trapped in a cellar for two years? I guess that solution makes too much sense and of course doesn't move the plot along so never mind.

I almost fell over laughing at little Christian's reaction to the fainted Ilitia. Too funny!

Carlos, your screen shots are amazing. You captured all the perfect moments, nice job.

Julia, daisynjay, Sylvia,

Thanks so much for such nice words of approval.

Julia, I'm pretty sure with little Cristian, what you see is what you get. It is so much fun watching him interact with the others, especially Lorenzo. You have to wonder if they prompt him in some way for a scene or is they just wind him up and set him loose.

daisynjay, about Ilitia: the weight gain+syncope=embarazada? Of course now all eyes turn to Super Mau, but if, Heaven forbid, she is pregnant, I'm going to hold out for Brandon. After all, she did conk out at the wedding. I'm not clear on the time-lines, especially relating to her sexual encounters. I really hope this is all a diversion.

Sylvia, Delicia is such a gem. When I was watching the show, I meant to make mention of her outfit. It looked so good on her and fit her persona perfectly. I'm not sure it would look that good on most women.

Carlos

I was trying to recall Ilitia's timeline for possible embarazada. I'm pretty sure that Malicio was the last because she has been too traumatized since then to be with Eman. She did have that encounter with Brandon but wasn't that too long ago? I'm kind of unclear on that one. I assume that prior to Malicio she and Eman were getting it on but most likely used protection.

Ya'll are too funny - discussing the mating habits of Ilitia. I don't think the writers will make her pregnant by OrangeO and she can't be by Brandon because that occurred before the 2 year elapsed time. She slept with Brandon because Emanuel has professed his interest in Marianela and they had split. Looking forward to Monday's episode.

Another point, wasn't it funny that El Lirio wanted to give the money to Vicki if she stated she was in love with Emanuel. That boy is playing with fire. He wants Vicky to have the hots for him since he has already demonstrated that he has the hots for her. Wonder what the writers will come up with next to bring those two together. Marianela seems to be forgetting about vengeance on Emanuel and concentrating more on nailing Fedra.

Have Ilitia and Brandon been intimate at all since the two years passed? I'm not sure that they have. They had a smooch session on the sofa when Muñeca was kidnapped (that was after the two years, right?) but it didn't seem like it went further than that.

She did faint at the wedding, and that was too soon after the rapey snake attack. Is it possible they're using fainting for reasons other than to indicate pregnancy? When Marianela kept fainting, it was because she was being poisoned. Maybe Ilitia is ill, or just completely stressed out? Too much to hope for?

You other recappers put the most perfect pictures in your recaps. I'm starting to feel like a slacker for not doing them. Maybe it's time I expanded my skill set.

Julia, I've been feeling the same way!

By the way, for the west coasters, there is an interesting program about Ana Martin right now on Univision.

Although Ilitia has not had sex with Eman or anyone else since the wedding, I'm guessing that they were probably getting together regularly before the wedding since they were going at it pretty heavily even before becoming engaged years before.

I wonder how well Manzana is going to keep Many's secret. She is certainly not off to a very good start by telling Ilitia and Muñeca that she knows who el Lirio de Plata is. Ilitia's eyes really lit up when she said that. I'm betting that we're about to see some heavy-duty bonding attempts on the part of Ilitia.

Carlos

Okay...I started laughing at the title and didn't stop all the way through. Dang, you know how we women think! The eternal question.

You were having fun with alliteration. My favorite was "increasingly irritable Ilitia".

Other favorite quotes were "Porcupine Boy", your musings on the unfairness of older boys moving in on younger boys' girls "Oh, that's right, I'm the only guy here": {Mau's} "short rodential attention span expired some time ago": and a delicious transition "you guys settle this, we're going back to check on Fedra and Mau."

Yes, the chemistry between Vickster and el Lirio is hot, but I've had three straight years of hawt telenovela chemistry, so I must admit I'm far more enthralled by the verbal mud-wrestling between Fedra and Mau. Love to see those two go at it. Aside from that Fedra/Lorenzo strangulation scene which will probably be my all-time favorite in any telenovela, I look forward to any Fedra/Mauricio scrap. Much fun.

Manzanita may love Eman but what kid can keep a secret for long? What adult even? But maybe the adults will find the idea so preposterous, they'll figure she's fibbing.

And yes, Christian is even more riveting than the charming Delicia. His bland, "whateveh" gaze at Ilitia's supine form...heartless little guy! Too funny.

And you outdid yourself with the pictures. Good Lord! there were a ton. Way to twist the knife, amigo. Enjoyed every one though.

Carlos-

I think you enjoying sharing your unique male point of view, as much as we enjoy reading it. ;-)

I ditto everything Judy and others have said. Little Cristian was my favorite part of this episode. Not only did he seem totally puzzled by why Ilitia had collapsed on the floor, he seemed pretty annoyed that the silly woman was still unresponsive on the bed in the bedroom, and he kept trying to say something about it to Lirio and Muneca. Too bad we can't understand 2 year old Spanish. Strangely enough, he didn't seem interested at all in the big guy in black leather and a mask...

Axel, Delicia and the broom were my next fovorite. I also hope she goes to the event looking stunning, but continues to play hard to get with Axel. He deserves it. :)

Thanks Judy. As much as I enjoy the other characters, I have to admit that Fedra is my favorite. The actress always seems to play hateful roles and she puts everything she's got into every role. She never fails to elicit visceral responses. She has sort of a scary beauty that attracts and repels at the same time. There are many little things she could do to make Fedra a more appealing and sympathetic character, but she doesn't and I like her even more for that. She is nicely paired with Lorenzo and Mauricio, but notice that it takes the two of to balance her dominating presence, and the looming figure of Bernardo is reduced to being a handmaiden.

Carlos

Carlos

Oh, in case no one mentioned it, the lady in Fedra's flashback was Mari's mom/sister of Netty.

Which reminds me, has the investigation of Eva's death dead-ended? They established that the helicopter was blown up deliberately, and they're not going to try to connect that to anyone? It's not like they had to look far to find who hated Eva and wanted her dead; it's just a matter of looking for the evidence of the crime.

Gretel's got so much dirt on Fedra, but I guess I can understand why she's still hesitant to report her to the police. Fedra and Bernardo have slithered out of charges before, and Fedra's conveniently got Gretel established as a nutcase, so who would believe her stories? She doesn't know that Axel and Emanuel know about her captivity in the cellar. Luis Felipe's death was so long ago and Gretel was just a little girl, she probably figures it would be hard to get Fedra locked up for that. If she accuses Fedra and then Fedra goes free, Gretel is in even more danger, as would be anyone who tried to help her.

Hi Vivi, thanks, and thanks. I had forgotten that Eva had called Fedra after she sent her that bottle of liquor. That seems like an eternity ago.

I'm really glad that you are enjoying this show with us.

Carlos

Julia, since Brandon now knows that Manolo is Gretel, and now that Gretel has become so much more coherent, it would be great if he would sit down and talk to her. Surely she knows enough to put Fedra and Bernie away. Of course we know that won't happen.

Carlos

Carlos, thank you so much for the very witty recap. The comments have been great with a lot of insight.

Fedra's acting talents really shine in this role. She was good in Sorti but in this she is outstanding. I have a feeling that the comedy is ad-lib.

Delicia's reading of Juliet was a real surprise - she has a lovely voice.

Rosemary

Thanks for your recap Carlos. Your pics were nice too.

I really enjoy Dee and Axel. I hope daisynjay's prediction comes true and she does to the event. Perhaps he will cut his hair for the event but I wouldn't hold my breathe.

El Lirio may be in trouble soon b/c with both Manzanita and Netty (from the preview) knowing his identity, how is this going to stay a secret?

Carlos, to borrow a similiar plot device from Nombre de Amor - also starring our little Altair - if she does find out she's is pregnant, she may try to work it that she finally does the horizontal with Eman and then waits a bit to announce the pregnancy. And he'll believe it's his- thus making him further commit to Ilitia as he's falling for M/V. The 'ole false father plot - TN "favorite". (Argh!)I still hate the idea she would be pregnant by Moron, so I'm hoping with all my might this doesn't happen - but.....

Hey, we have 205 episodes - have to stretch out getting the lovebirds together somehow....

Thanks Rosemary. I think you are right about there being a good bit of ad lib comedy. Very often it appears that characters are close to cracking up. I thought for sure that Fedra would when she and Lorenzo were at each others' throats and then again when she destroyed that pillow.

Thanks Karen. If Netty learns eLdP's identity it should be very interesting since she has such a low opinion of Eman because of his treatment of Mari.

daisynjay, I had major problems with Kristal being pregnant by Mauricio and I didn't really care much for her. The sooner Lorenzo finds out what he did to Ilitia, the better. I'm certain that he will take prompt and definitive action.

My husband just about died laughing when he saw Fedra tearing up that pillow! That was so funny! Glad you got that screen shot in, Carlos.

Great recap!

Audrey

Carlos: A generous recap, detailed delightfully, from the title to the finish. The pictures were perfect.

Compliments on so many wonderful lines. I liked "porcupine boy" although I was thinking "hedgehog boy", but close enough!

Despite your amazing humor, my favorite line was "Stunned, Ilitia rubs her jaw, but it's her heart that's in the most pain". True. Right now, I am worried about her more than anyone. I'm dismayed reading about the timelines, if she is pregnant, I was hoping it was by Brandon.

Thanks again Carlos.

Diana

Thanks Audrey and Diana.

Audrey, that little tantrum of Fedra's came as a surprise to me and like your husband, I cracked up. I couldn't believe that Nereida even had to help her upstairs.

Diana, I've had a soft spot for Ilitia from the beginning. The fact of the rape was disturbing and the idea of a resultant pregnancy is almost unimaginable.

It would be way too cruel of the writers to make Ilitia pregnant by her rapist. I just don't believe it. In ENDA, she was pregnant by her lover. A guy she actually enjoyed having sex with. I don't see this as the same. I couldn't see her being cool and collected enough to try to pass off her rape child as Eman's, given that she can't even let him touch her since the rape. She would be an emotional wreck if she turns up pregnant by rapey snake. Plus, she wouldn't have to pretend. Eman knows she was raped. He would willingly take on the baby knowing it's not his.

In Sorti, one of the young, promiscuous characters started being sick and fainting, and it turned out she had leukemia. If it were a choice between being pregnant by Mauricio or having cancer, I’d choose cancer.

ITA w/Diana, Carlos, and Vivi (I'd choose cancer too) regarding Ilitia's horrific situation. I know we have had various discussions about rape in TNs before but I will never understand its use period let alone in "comedy/family" TNs.

Karen, Vivi...you're kidding aren't you? Prefer cancer? I walked alongside a dear friend for years who was dying of leukemia. Believe me, pregnant by a rapist is preferable.

Do you remember the story of the woman from Boston who was raped by an African-American? She didn't know if the resulting pregnancy was by her husband or the unknown assailant. So she had the baby and when it was clear that it was by the rapist, she had her daughter christened in the Catholic church and given up for adoption. The child had a wonderful mother, a happy childhood and married and had a very stable family. Knowing her biological mother had her baptized, she went back and found her, to reassure her that she had done the right thing and it had turned out well. This woman had every right to be proud of her daughter and proud of herself for having to courage to bear her and give her up. I think this is far preferable to cancer.

Well, I'm just really hoping Ilitia isn't pregnant. Remember when Kristel was pregnant, and Ilitia was berating her for not taking better precautions and not paying attention to what was going on with her body? Might that indicate that Ilitia is maybe on birth-control pills or similar? She's been really upset since she was raped, but at no point has she indicated she was worried about pregnancy, and she is highly body-aware.

Carlos, time to get started on the Great American Novel. Your writing soars. My favorite line: “Improving on the Bard’s script…” and I loved Darth Lily and Maninblack.

Sylvia – I agree! Why can’t these people just go to the police? If Mari instead of doing all this elaborate revenge stuff had just reported the poisoning (and she has lab tests to prove it), and if Gretel had reported her imprisonment, Fedra and Bernardo would be behind bars now. But of course then we wouldn’t have a telenovela to watch..

Carlos – I agree about the Fedra actress. I love that she pulls out all the stops and doesn’t try to look lovely or to be photographed just so.

Judy- Don't worry. In real life my position would totally change. Of course I would prefer to have a lovely baby, regardless of the way it was conceived, and for sure not cancer under any circumstances. Mauricio just makes my skin crawl and makes me say awful things. :)

Judy again I'm with Vivi. In the TN world were cancer is typically never painful or horrid, its a no brainer. However in real life not so.

I think particularly for character like Mau if part of his punishment before death involves Mr. Happy's removal or inability to function the rest of his life I would feel he was given some kind of consequences for his actions.

Maggie, thanks for such generous praise. Since like Mauricio, I have the attention span of a randy rabbit (hope that's the only similarity), I doubt that I'll be churning out any novels.

I'm guessing the reason that Fedra, Bernardo, Lorenzo, and Mauricio are all still at large is because the justice system in Telenovelandia is so corrupt that their victims likely feel that without videotaped evidence, fingerprints, and DNA proof along with smoking guns that it would be futile to complain... and actually so far, such has been the case.

Julia, I take comfort in the fact that Ilitia was so appalled at Kristol's lack of caution, but then again, getting married, she wouldn't really need contraception. Of course she has turned up her nose at the thought of pregnancy, seeing it as detrimental to her career as a model. My fingers are crossed.

Carlos

Absolutely brilliant recap Carlos! My favorite scenes were those involving Delicia and Axel. He is so charming when he wants to be. . . And she can certainly steal the scene, she GREAT!

As for the Illitia pregnancy scare, I think it's coming to a head pretty soon. I'm thinking the writers will have her preggo by Malicio, adding insult to injury, especially after her rape and Kristel's hysterectomy. All the weight comments are just the writing on the wall.

Hi Vivi and Karen. Thanks for the clarification. As you can see, I don't have a sense of humor about cancer. I visit too many people suffering from it. Two right now who have cancer of the spine. Even with Hospice medication, there's a lot of pain.

Another good reason to watch telenovelas and get some crazy fictional relief from the crazy real life relief.

Anyway, sorry I overreacted.

Thanks, La Chaparrita, and welcome.
I sooo hope that you're mistaken though the evidence is weighty.

Carlos

Judy - Everyone here knows you are all about forgiveness so please don't think I was offended by your comment. Thankfully I have not had a lot of experience with cancer so I hope you didn't think I was being flippant about a serious disease. I was in the realm of the novela where one can be mean and cruel with no consequences.

Welcome La Chaparrita. Oh I so hope you are wrong but your logic is spot on (sigh).

Ditto everything Karen said Judy. One of my good friends, age 35, just battled cancer this past year, just as she and hubby were about to try to make some babies. Now she can't have bio babies. But she is healthy and we all feel lucky to still have her with us.

No harm. No foul. No problem. Now onto the BCS championship game. And the snowstorm.

And Welcome La Chaparrita!

Oh Carlos, your recaps are such a joy! Wish I had such energy...what a lovely job you've done, and especially so fun to see your pic picks. Thanks as always for the fun!

Thanks Kris.

Carlos
