El Mundo de Telemundo: Week of February 21, 2011: Discuss Amongst Yourselves!
ALGUIEN TE MIRA
A month passes. A veneer of normalcy covers the friends’ lives.
Rodrigo helps Valeria through her latest relapse. Valeria’s love and gratitude toward him is such that she would do anything to keep him from suffering. And right now he is tortured by the knowledge that Piedad and baby Sofía are in danger from Julián. Valeria makes a last-minute attempt to convince Piedad that Julián is a menace; she tries to tell her what Vidal’s cellmate has said and explain about the old photo of Julián’s mother, Fabiola, in the black dress. Piedad looks uncomfortable but unconvinced.
Tatiana is functioning normally enough to keep her business running -- even if she has lost some customers. She seems on the verge of telling Piedad about her and Julian’s ‘indiscretion’ but then, uncharacteristically, holds her tongue.
Benjamin is trying to keep his nose clean. He hasn’t forgiven Tatiana or Julián for betraying him and he refuses to go to the wedding. He has seen Camila a couple of times. Camila – who has made the cleanest break from the past with her job, her education and her new-found self-sufficiency -- has made it clear that their romantic relationship is over. We, the viewers, know, (and Tati knows too) that Camila is in love with Benja. But Camila lets Benja believe that she is over him.
Pedro Pablo and Lola have reconciled. The blot on their happiness is Lucía’s disappearance with her (and presumably) Pedro Pablo’s son.
Newborns are quite fragile. It’s hard to imagine how Pablito, let alone Lucía, could survive on the street. If they’re alive, it’s because someone took them in. With what intentions? Who knows. Does Lucía’s mother remember that just before she delivered Pablito, Luci was checking out Indianapolis as a place to live?
Matilde is ever more eloquent with facial expressions, blinks, tears and hand squeezes. It’s hard to accept that no one has figured out how to communicate with her. Unless she has an enemy we are unaware of, she should be safe while Julián is away.
Once the telemédico passes his magical scalpel over her, she will recover completely. And she’ll be able to expose Julián for the monster that he is. If only they’d do the operation before Julián comes back….
Julián and Piedad continue with their quiet wedding preparations. Just before the ceremony, Julián’s son, Emilio, surprises Piedad with a gift: the family tree project he was working on for school. Only now it is complete. The famous photo of Fabiola in pearls and black dress and labeled by name takes pride of place on the chart. Julián and Piedad agree to keep the gift their secret. (Will someone else find the chart, realize its importance, and turn it over to Carvajal?) Again, Piedad looks uncomfortable but still not ready to admit that her faith in Julián is tragically misplaced.
We see Rodrigo running desperately, breathlessly through the streets. Is he hoping to stop Piedad's wedding at the last minute? If so, he arrives too late for Piedad but not too late to hold his daughter in his arms. But Julián and Piedad have already exchanged vows. And we see them leave for their brief honeymoon. And then we see the absolute misery on Piedad's face as she braces herself for an intimate moment with her new husband.
Knowing that Matilde’s recovery means the downfall of the Cazador:
Will Julián come back to kill Matilde before she can betray him?
Or will he make a run for it?
And if he runs:
Will he kill Piedad first?
Will he take her with him?
Or will he let her go?

NUEVO RICO, NUEVO POBRE
I guess I’m watching this alone, DVRing the daytime episodes and trying to catch up on the weekends. This Colombian comedy is like Yo Soy Betty La Fea – sweetly funny, sharply observed and beautifully played. I guess it is just too regional for prime-time showing. Too bad because it’s so much better than just about every primetime comedy I’ve seen on the two major US Spanish language stations. (Or maybe I just prefer the Colombian to the Mexican take on comedy.) Right now Andrés, the nuevo pobre, is becoming a better person and learning a little about empathy and love; while Brayan, the nuevo rico, is letting himself be led by appearances and getting more callous and less likeable every day.

Okay. Te toca a ti. Your turn!
Labels: alguien, herederos, telemundo
HEREDEROS- The extremely slow pace of this novela has been commented on several times. The Chilean novela, Los Hijos del Monte, on which it is based only ran for 50 one-hour (i.e., 46 minutes minus commercials) episodes. Most US novelas rum at least 100 episodes and frequently lots more.
We are at about episode 28 of Herederos which so far is completely following the plot of Hijos through episode 14. You see where I'm going here. You take a 50 episode novela and take twice as long to tell the same story and you've got a 100 episode novela.
It doesn't have to be that way. The Telemundo writers can take the novela off in new directions but so far they haven't done so. We'll see.
Yes, it's so slow! And very simplistic anyway. They did some nice dressing up with beautiful scenery, horses, and nice looking people. But I have pretty much lost interest and don't really pay attention when I have it on.
So - now I know why it is so drawn out. I am also surprised that Telemundo didn't dress up the script a little with a lot more happenings.
Audrey
Well, well, well—I missed a number of capítulos, but tuned in after reading that we’re at the final week. I’m reading recaps and viewing the missed episodes, but was so disappointed in Braindead/Piedad! (I know—futile, but…) An upside is that by the final week, Piedad’s brain may return to some semblance of life.
ATM is still as cinematic as ever—Rod’s scenes were wonderfully shot. Did anyone else’s heart break for Rod when he got to the wedding/honeymoon takeoff too late? And olé for the most painful honeymoon romp to watch. I actually still feel uncomfortable. ;-)
Pretty tense, wondering how all of los cabos sueltos will ensnare Julián by the finale…
It's a darn shame they're dragging out this show. I still enjoy most of it though, compared to the super-dramas on Univision. I'm sick of all the crying, sad faces, and yelling that goes on over there.
Erin, I felt sorry for Rod, but I was cringing thinking he was going to actually attempt to interrupt the wedding. I didn't want Piedad to get a chance to humiliate him again so It was a relief to see that he didn't get there in time. I really liked his scene with Matilde althought I share everyone's frustration when nobody figures out she could communicate through blinking ;)
Thanks for the summary, NovelaMaven. The writers keep surprising us. Who thought Julian would actually get married to Piedad? But the honeymoon night isn't going so well, judging from Piedad's expression.
Despite the photo, and Matilde's possible recovery, I just don't think any evidence is going to do in Julian - he's going to have to be caught in the act and stopped. Of course, the writers are sure to surprise us, so who knows?
BTW, we think the police in this show are so dumb. But where I live, this guy is suing the City and the police. Why? He was publicly called "The Charles Village Rapist" or something like that by the police, and jailed for 14 months (10 months of which were AFTER the rapes kept happening, and also many months after all their DNA and forensic evidence came up negative!). They finally dropped all charges, and let him go. I don't think they ever caught the real criminal. Hmmm, makes one think, no?
@Erin - yeah this week we were treated to TWO very uncomfortable sexual encounters with Julian. The rabi Tati-Julian encounter was just gross! And then we have to suffer seeing Piedad look like she was about to throw up being in bed with Julian. But she still got in that bed!
Yep - the Piedad character takes willful blindness to new extremes.
We have one week to go, and a lot to wrap up. Expecting some extreme Piedad trauma, and it just a matter of how much she gets to experience terror at Julian's hands in person versus the evidence coming through to nab him.
Didn't Julian order a private plane at some point?
Audrey
Audrey, Yes, Julián did order a private plane. We weren't sure if it was for a honeymoon getaway or just a getaway! I suppose we'll find out soon enough.
with Piedad and Sofia. But with the coming attractions, Im not so sure it will work that way. Really looking forward to Julian's downfall this week. Hopefully the writers wont's disappoint.
So do you all think that Piedad is now certain (or just suspects) Julian is the killer and is playing him to try to make him confess?
So glad Benja finally remembered the whole Daniela/picture of Julian thing! Love the cops in disguise in the hospital keeping Matilde safe. :) Things are really starting to fall apart for Julian now. Yay!
Great question, Vivi:
So do you all think that Piedad is now certain (or just suspects) Julian is the killer and is playing him to try to make him confess?
I think that when Piedad had a glimpse of Julián with his mask off, she started to doubt him. At that point all the logical arguments came flooding back to her mind.
During her wedding night of terror, she does believe he's the killer; and if she's playing him, it's just to survive the night. But by the time she and Julián get back to his apartment, and the Good Julián is back in control, she is no longer sure. If she were, she'd run like hell and take Sofía with her. (Although that may be what she does tonight. I hope so -- I'd like to see her run right to the police and ask for protection. I do want her to get through this novela alive!)
HEREDEROS - We plod along. Ines tells Miguel that Rosa and Emilio were lovers. Miguel runs to his lover, Sofia, and finds her kissing Gustavo. She manages to talk her way out of it by accusing Gustavo of attacking her. When Paula hears this, she knows that Sofia was lying and warns her about getting involved with the Del Monte's lawyer.
Gustavo tells Sofia that they have something that keeps them together. Could he be Paula's father as we have speculated before?
Julieta continues with her plan to hurt Juan, Pedro continues with his plan to win Julieta and Paula continues with her plan to get back with Juan. Juan's determination to reject Paula is clearly weakening though.
Johnny insists that Consuelo go back to school and Lucas tries to make up with Rosario.
I learned a new word, propasarse, which means make a pass at someone, or go too far (this was what Miguel told Julieta that Gustavo had done to Sofia).
Just as many of us are baffled as to why several of the guys are drawn to Paula (despite her dirty dealings), I'm having a hard time seeing why any women are drawn to Juan. I guess he's sort of handsome, but 1) he almost always wears his hat in the house, even at the breakfast table, 2) when he takes his hat off, his hair is a mess, 3) he rarely smiles, and has NO sense of humor and 4) he seems half asleep most of the time :)
What is wrong with Tatiana? All the other friends are working together with their evidence against Julian, and she (who had Julian violently choke her during sex) keeps saying that Julian is Mr. Clean???
It was fun to watch each person (Luisa, Prefecto, Benja, Rodrigo) go around the circle, throwing in pieces of evidence against Julian. But, as Angel said, it's all circumstantial, and they have to catch him in the act. Last night everything was bubbling up, and maybe tonight, the lid of the kettle will finally come off!
BTW, I still don't think Piedad is more than doubtful about Julian, and I don't think she was playing along with him. She's just "confundida", which happens a lot in these shows, and it's unlikely she'd be convinced unless someone hit her over the head with a 2X4 (which may just have to happen, given her stubbornness :)
Even though Guadalupe (a bit too saintly sometimes) got on her mother's case about it, I thoroughly enjoyed Inez telling Miguel that Rosa was one of the cast of thousands who slept with Emilio Del Monte.
For a change Amador rejected Lucas. This Lucas character changes so often it makes my head spin. I still can't figure out if he's over Paula and really feels something for Rosario or not.
Another SOS scene (same old sh!t) where Paula tells Juan that she knows he loves her madly. Yawn.
It looks like Pedro is making some inroads with Julieta. But I don't like the guy and hate to see him win her over, something that will likely happen.
Berta says she's leaving because they're all immoral but decides to overlook that for a big raise. Funny!
That scene of Julián making love to Piedad was stomach churning. You know it's Telemundo and not Univision, though. On that network, the villain never succeeds in bedding the female lead unless he drugs and rapes her (Fuego en la Sangre).
That scene between Piedad and Julián after they got out of bed was fabulous. Julián knew all too well that Piedad was not responding to him. He got very petulant after drinking a lot of champagne. He made a lot of mistakes: "Now that you're my wife, you have to hazme caso. I couldn't think of a good English translation for that.
I enjoyed the scene with Benja, Camila, Valeria, and Rodrigo doing a Sherlock/Watson adding up of the clues.
Fabiola scares me. She's egging Julián on to kill Piedad (which we all know won't happen, but still).
When Piedad came out of the bathroom she, very gently, told him that what he feels for her isn't love.
Yes, Tatiana is beyond annoying, continuing to stick up for Julián.
Julián's mask also dropped when he blew up about Emilio going to the hospital where his mother is having surgery.
The case is re-opened!!!! There are cops all over the hospital. So things look good for Mathilde. Julián looked completely stunned seeing Rodrigo and Carvajal there.
If I were Piedad I would have grabbed my daughter, and asked to be put in policy custody. There was no doubt last night as to how dangerous Julian is.
Herederos
Hombre what I see in Juan is his charisma, watch how he walks (although I am convinced he is suffering from possible back pain - I think that accounts for his blank stare). I think with Juan is more the possibility of what a bad boy he could really be, but in this novela I have to admit it has left me wanting. I want for a character to be like Cher in Moonstruck when she slapped Nicolas Cage and said to him "snap out of it". I wish someone would do that to Juan.
Nellie and Hombre, I'm chiming in on Cimarro (Juan). I have to side with Hombre. I agree 100% that the Juan character is completely lacking in a sense of humor - something that matters to me in the male of the species! And he always looks rumpled and sleepy. If he's really lusting for Paula, he's doing a good job of hiding it. Mostly he looks like he has an untreated bleeding ulcer!
I'm with something Shallowgal commented earlier - I'd watch Cimarro read the phone book but that being said there is something weird about his performance in this novela. I'll give him a pass on sense of humor. That has to go on the writers' tab. It was reported in the press that he fainted on the set twice a couple of weeks ago. Supposedly, it was a migraine or something but it is strange. He does seem barely awake while everyone else is emoting away. And then there's the hat.
I was very surprised they let Julian marry braindead didn't think the writers would let that happen. I thought for sure either Benja was going to show up and tell her about the one night stand he had with Tatiana or Tatiana would open up her mouth and spoil her moment of happiness. Rodrigo running to stop the wedding c'mon they do have taxis in Chicago don't they?
This is where that saying comes in you've made your own bed now lie in it comes in.That's exactly what happened to Braindead and i don't feel one ounce of sympathy for her. She knew good and well she couldn't feel any type of good intimate feelings towards Julian well before she said her i do.
You don't ignore not liking a man you're suppose to marry kissing you or holding you.Or the feeling or look of repulsion she's gotten from him in those moments. For her to try to expect a happy and settled married life was delusional. Says a lot about her characters mental make up also and the issues she has.
I'm not sure if they actually did it or not but Julian certainly picked up her less than enthusiastic response. We see her locking the door and listening to him on the other side being in terror.
It would be smart of her to play him and get back and get away from with Sofia but she doesn't think like that. It did seem like she was fooled into being sympathetic to him when he was crying and telling her how much he loves her.
I did enjoy Rodrigo,Benja, Camila and Valeria using their brains and figuring it out it was Julian using his step father's name to date Daniela. Glad Luisa convince perfecto to listen to them. Angel does have a point it is still circumstantial evidence at this point. But if they were living in Mexico Julian would be locked up already.
As for Benja this why i said he and Tatiana won't get back together his double standard. He can't forgive her for sleeping with Julian. But he expects her to forgive him for sleeping with Camila and Rocio? Then there's his hitting her and this is not the first time with him and violence with her either.
I don't believe this show is ending this week even though the Reina del Sur novela is starting next Monday. I believe before Donde Esta Elisa ended they dragged it out as long as they could. Since we still haven't seen anything saying when the Gran Final will be. They might cut up the rest of this novela into a half hour or 20 minutes and then start the Reina del Sur novela after it.
Blu- They for sure did it. Julian made sure he got his, then he bawled her out for not being responsive.
I almost forgot about that slap Julian delivered to Tati. I don't think I've ever been as shocked by a novela slap. I sucked in my breath in shock at the same time as Lola and Pedro Pablo. Wow! Yeah, he is totally machismo, like Tati described him-- the reason why she said he would never admit to Piedad what happened between Tati and Julian. His male ego has been bruised by Tati sleeping with anyone else but him, while it's ok for him to have slept with half the city and half her family.
Vivi i know i found his double standard too funny after he said that he couldn't forgive her.I was like what! You slept with her cousin and her sister are you for real? Never underestimate the power of the male ego sheesh!
As for Braindead being non responsive she was like that before he married her but he went right ahead and knowing that anyway.
I get the feeling that Tatiana sees Julian as the man she wished she had married instead of Benja that's why she is defending him he has all of the qualities she thinks she wants in a man reliable, honest hard working and not into drugs or a cheater. Problem with her logic he cheated on Braindead with her but she is not looking at it from that point of view.
Yeah that slap was a bit shocking and was just like Pedro Pablo and Lola too WTF?
Julian goes to the hospital but is bought up short when he sees not only his main enemy Rodrigo there with Valeria but Luisa too.he comes in with Emilio pretending he's alright with the operation as he ask Matilde's parents why is Rodrigo here?
Braindead is at Julian's apartment with Veronica talking about if she had any problems with the baby while she was gone.Veronica lets her know that Rodrigo came after she left and visited his daughter and how good he looks with her.
Julian is grousing to Matilde's parents about letting Rodrigo be here as they tell him that is not a concern of theirs they're only worried about their daughter recovering from her operation. Benja comes out and sees Julian and ask when did he come?
Matilde being operated remembers her conversation with Mauricio and the picture she says sounds like Julian's mother. As Mauricio ask her to get it.Matilde recalls finding the picture and going to Rodrigo asking him if he knows this woman?
Pedro Pablo and Lola discuss whether Julian is the killer or not.Pedro gets a phone call and tells Lola to turn on the TV they see Loca Lucia on the edge of a building ready to jump with Pedro's son.
Julian goes to taunt Rodrigo as Rodrigo ask where Braindead is at?She at my apartment where else would she be since she is mine taunts Julian.Rodrigo and Julian fight and then are broken up by Luisa and Amador.
Matilde recalls finding Julian's killing lair and seeing the jar with Mauricio's head in it. She then remembers every detail of the night of her accident and who was the cause of it.
Pedro goes to where Lucia is at surprising no fire department of negotiator is there yet to talk Loca Lucia down.
Julian changes his tactic realizing trying to get the Matilde's parents to turn on Rodrigo also isn't happening.he says he'll have Emilio come live with him now since they will be so focus on taking care of Matilde during her recuperation.
I see Julian thinking he can keep Matilde quiet as long as he has Emilio staying with him.Emilio burts this new plan of his by saying he wants to stay with his mother and that's it.
Pedro comes and tries to talk Lucia down and still no negotiator in Chicago? The baby is real cute though.
Rodrigo is calm down by Luisa who tells him to cool it as Benja talks to him and ask where is Valeria?Rodrigo tells him he sent her to talk to Braindead and convince her to leave Julian.
Valeria looks for Julian apartment.
Pedro tries to convince Lucia to get down and give him the baby.
The doctor comes out announcing to everyone that Matilde's operation was a success. As Emilio says it won't be long before she can talk as Julian puts on a fake happiness as he is scared and frighten of being unmasked as "El Cazador".
Lola shows up at the scene where Lucia is trying to jump off the building with the baby. Pedro pablo tries his hand at negotiation since Chicago can't afford one on their police force.
Julian tries to drag Emilio out with him forcibly as Emilio balks at this treatment. It sets Julian off so much he goes as far as almost hitting his son until he recalls his abuse at his mother's hand.
Julian breaks down and apologizes to Emilio telling him he's sorry and that he'll be going away for awhile. Emilio tells it's ok but he'll miss him but he'll be with his mother and grandparents.
Julian leaves quickly as Emilio's grandmother calls out to him saying where was he she was looking all over for him as she is escorted by Amador.
Emilio and his grandmother come back to the waiting room where Tatiana and Camila are at.Tatiana ask about Matilde's operation and is told about it's success as Emilio lets them know that Julian is leaving.
Tatiana can't believe it and goes to find him.
Julian meanwhile is having a serious breakdown in the storage room where they keep the hospital uniforms. He knocks down a rack of clothes crying out in his rage as the noose tightens around his neck. Finally he pulls out his trusty knife from his pocket.
Pedro tries to convince Lucia to give him the baby and it looks like he making some type of headway. As Lucia does seem confused to who she is talking too.
Valeria shows up at Julian but Braindead after asking who it is she refuses to let her in or talk to her at all.
Rodrigo ask Luisa if they have seen where Julian went and she says no not to worry they will find him.
Julian leaves the storage room as Tatiana calls out to him he tells her he is leaving now. Tatiana grabs Julian's wrist to stop him but Julian drags her out to the staircase well and stabs a stunned Tatiana.
Two doctors coming down the stairs as Julian hears them as he was trying to finish off Tatiana.Julian leaves as Tatiana calls out in pain and passes out.
Pedro Pablo seems to get through to Lucia until she sees Lola down on the ground setting her off.
Benja ask Camila why she is there as she tells him she came with Tatiana.
Rodrigo ask if they have found Julian yet as he learns from Luisa that he stabbed Tatiana who's in critical condition and ran.Camila runs off to be with her sister with Benja following after her.
Valeria calls Rodrigo and tells him what happened with Braindead as he tells her to get the heck out there real fast it's too dangerous for her to be there by herself. Valeria ask why as Rodrigo explains how Julian just stabbed Tatiana and escaped from the hospital.Valeria starts to leave but then sees Julian pull up in his suv.
The doctor operates on Tatiana who goes into cardiac arrest it doesn't look good for Tatiana it looks like she died on the operating table.
Pedro can't calm down Loca Lucia as he goes and grabs the baby from her finally a fireman shows up to grab Lucia as we see the slo mo reaction from Yoyita and Lucia's mother on TV with Lola's at the scene.
Rodrigo lays into Luisa about what type of job her fellow cops did to let Julian escaped after he stabbed Tatiana.
Braindead gets a call from Rodrigo she ask if he call because of Matilde as he tells her that Matilde is fine from her operation.Rodrigo tells her to leave Julian's apartment right now he is "El Cazador".
Braindead proving why she earned this nickname refuses to believe him even though he told her Julian just stabbed Tatiana at the hospital.
Julian shows up telling her he's there my love.
Rodrigo is blasting Luisa again as Braindead stops speaking to him during their phone call. Perfecto is there also as Rodrigo tells them that Braindead isn't safe and that she and his daughter are in danger because the real killer has arrived at his house.Luisa tries to stop Rodrigo who is past the point of listening to her or being reasonable.
Perfecto tells Luisa to get the police on it right away.
Amador and his coworker get the call that Julian is at his place as Amador sends out APB on Julian.
Julian ask Braindead why she is nervous and who was she talking to just now on the phone. Braindead moves away from him trying to make up a pitiful excuse. Julian grabs her and then her phone he looks through her phone records on it as he confronts her about lying to him.
He ask her why is scared and trying to pull away from him and then she sees the blood stain on the cuff of his shirt. Realization of the truth written all over her face.
Julian tells her he and she will always be together along with her daughter. He's not letting her go and braindead looks at him with fear in her eyes.
Wow what a episode.
Finally, Miguel shows himself not to be a complete wimp.
Amador has confessed his feelings for Rosario, but it doesn't look like they're reciprocated.
I can hardly WAIT for Rosa to find out what a snake her good friend Sofía is.
For a minute there I actually thought Rosa might really care about Miguel, not about appearances. But then she turns right around telling Sofía that she just wants the status quo.
Beatriz is driving me crazy. Episode after episode and she doesn't get it about José.
Paula does her smug thing again, telling Juan about Pedro and Julieta and gloating over Julieta. How are they ever going to redeem this female so she ends up with Cimarro?
The police say they have to catch Julián in the act. Great. Let everyone be at risk so they can get an airtight case!
At least Julián got a good punch in the stomach when he tried to convince Rodrigo he'd had a wonderful honeymoon night with Piedad (NOT).
Julián appeared like a 7-year old telling Mathilde's parents that Rodrigo started it. I can't bear him when he's petulant.
You could see that it was a horrendous blow to Julián when Emilio would not go with him. He almost hit him, then had a flashback to himself as a child.
Tatiana was born with her foot in her mouth, apparently. She had to tell Julián that he needed to come with her and confront Rodrigo and the police. I think she'll survive, although they did leave us hanging with the heart-starting paddles again and again.
Amador said they had Julián's fingerprints on the knife he used on Tati. At last!
Whew! Pedro Pablo managed to outfox crazy Lucy and save her and the baby.
Rodrigo was right! If they'd listened to him, Tatiana wouldn't have been stabbed.
Looks like Piedad is going with Julián. She's not going to leave her baby.
This was a very exciting episode. I don't know what they're going to do for three more nights, but so far it's been a great ride. I trust they won't mess it up.
Thank you for excellent recap, I walked in when Tatiana was looking for Julian, and had to sit down with my coat on as I did not expect the next scene. What an interesting episode! 3 more nights, I can't believe it. Nice for Pedro Pablo finally coming out ahead of loca lucy! Benjamin seemed laid back compared to Rodrigo when they were told that Tatiana went looking for Julian, but since he lives in a different world with different standards (do as I say, not as I do), I was not surprised.
HEREDEROS - Miguel and Rosa certainly are the most amusing characters in this novela. I loved Rosa having to eat humble pie and serve snacks to her hubby and his friends watching sports events. I can't wait to see what happens when Rosa finds out that Miguel is not the .
I'm totally with you on the dreary Beatriz situation. 'Good friend/advisor' Lupe should tell her to forget about Jose and concentrate on getting Efrain back or getting together with anyone but Jose.
yes, Novelera, it WAS a very exciting episode. Thanks for reprising so well the most important developments for us.
Another well-played magic trick: the audience is distracted watching the efforts to protect Matilde; while no one is looking, the killer claims his next victim.
Julián is now exposed. To everyone. The only questions that remain:
--how many people -- and which ones -- will he kill before he is taken down?
--Will he be taken dead or alive?
And less importantly, but still intriguing:
--Lucía (now seemingly in a full psychotic break) and the baby looked well-cared for even if she seemed to be wearing a hospital gown. Has she been institutionalized all along? If so, why wasn't the baby safe in foster care?
I thought when Rosa had to serve Miguel and his friends (most of whom Rosa considers beneath her) beers, that was a dream. But it was real!
It was worth noting how Sofia said to Rosa something like, "when men are betrayed, they never forgive, they're so pigheaded. But women can just talk it out" (setting the stage for when Rosa finds out that Sofia has betrayed her).
I liked when, right after Matilde's operation, Julian said, "I'm going to check on her now", and the doctor said "I'm surprised at you. You're a doctor, obviously you know you can't see the patient until she regains consciousness". Too bad, Julian!
We're not 100% sure of either of two situations. 1) It seemed that Tatiana did flat-line. They tried the paddles 3 times. But I agree, they could try again, and she could recover. We'll see. 2) We also didn't see the end of the rescue of Lucia and the baby. It looked as if Pedro Pablo grabbed the baby and the fireman grabbed Lucy, but it's possible, she'll break away. Not likely, but possible.
I agree that Piedad finally knows what's up with Julian (the blood stained cuff did it), and she has to go with him, since she can't protect her baby from him.
Julian just snapped with Tatiana. This time he didn't plan it, didn't bother putting on gloves, just couldn't take her anymore. I have to admit she has been a bit annoying lately, but of course no one deserves to be murdered for that!
I'm pretty sure the gran final of El Fantasma de Elena was announced only 2 or 3 days before it happened, so there's still hope for Alguien finishing this Friday.
Although every novela is different, just for the record, ultimas semanas for Alguien started Jan. 10th, so if it ends this week, it was 7 weeks until the finale. I only say this so we don't get our hopes up too much next time they make that kind of "dramatic" announcement.
Hombre you're right i never saw this before about them doing it this way Ultimas Semanas for several weeks now two weeks of Capitulos Finales. I kept the TV on Telemundo after it went off and during the Decisiones episode commercial break they showed that it does end this Friday. usually we get a warning before it starts to say Gran Final. But at least they aren't chopping it up into little bit of pieces like they did Donde Estas Elisa.
I just hope Valeria doesn't try to do anything stupid to stop Julian now.
I don't think they even called the end of Fantasma a Gran Finale. As I recall, it just ended without any promos or anything.
Herederos: The last sentence of the first paragraph in my earlier post should have ended:
I can't wait to see what happens when Rosa finds out that Miguel is not the old guy who she thinks could never get any action on the side much less with a 'dama' like Sofia.
Jean they did give us a warning for when El Fantasma De Elena ended if i remember it was for a week or maybe more when they started to showing the Gran Final announcement. But it is a great point on this novela that they aren't calling more attention to this ending it's like they're treating it as not as good as it has been. I don't know what type of ratings it was getting but i would think it has to be doing well in the 10pm timeslot because it doesn't really have much competition other than American programs or cable shows. I don't know how many people who watch novelas would tune into watching the India novela on Telefutura.
I have seen an ATM promo announcing the Gran Finale for this friday the 25th. I won't tell you what the promos show because I know some people don't like to watch previews but it is on youtube.
I Tivo India and I think it has almost the same rating as ATM.
Aeryn i saw it the promo last night during decisiones and it looks exciting can't wait for the showdown.Julian is off his rocker totally and completely now but at least everyone knows now he's the killer so it proves now that Rodrigo was right all along.
Valeria sits in her car wondering what to do as Julian drags out Braindead while carrying baby Sofia in his other arm. He threatens Braindead to cooperate with him as he tells her they are both his forcing her into his suv. He leaves with Vaelria on his tail.
Pedro Pablo comes down with the baby in his arms he carries to Lola who congratulates him on saving his son. The cops bring down Loca Lucia who is going BSC upon seeing Lola with her son and Pedro. As pedro is asked by a news reporter on his thoughts a fireman says he is needed he hands his son to Lola as she says that this is her husband's child and she is happy he is safe.
The Briandead ask Julian where they are going as he tells her to stop asking questions he needs to think.
The cops break into Julian apartment and find him gone.
Valeria thinks and calls Rodrigo who is riding shot gun with Luisa and tells him her location at the moment. Rodrigo cautions her to be careful and how dangerous Julian is.
Julian pulls over to a still talking Braindead who wants to know why he is doing after he tells her to be quiet again and says he's explain everything so she'll understand but she belongs to him her and her daughter. He kisses her and drugs her with a needle.
Benja and Camila wait for news on Tatiana as her doctor comes out and tells them she is in critical shape and has lost a lot of blood. Camila volunteers to give her sister some of hers.
Valeria continues to follow Julian and his hostages as she calls Rodrigo again giving him a update where they are at now her phone shuts off during the call.
Julian puts Braindead in his lair on a new bed as she i still asleep from the drugs.
Rodrigo swears to Luisa he will kill Julian with his own hands for everything that he has done and now jeopardizing braindead and his daughter's safety.
Julian looks after Sofia as Braindead slowly awakes she ask what is he doing and where is this place? Julian tells her this is her new home and that he will explain everything to her but he also tells her again she belongs to him now. He won't allow anyone to get in between them.He then mentions how innocent Sofia is and untouched.
Luisa gets a call and it's Angel asking about Tatiana as she gives him a update he ask that she be careful trying capture Julian because she does know how dangerous he is.
Julian tells Braindead how she will be with him no matter what as Braindead pleads for him to let Sofia go. Julian tells her no not happening as he knows how much a mother shouldn't ever abandon her child. Briandead looks at him with growing horror.
Valeria almost tells Rodrigo where she was before her phone shut off but she looks for Julian anyway after being told to wait for Rodrigo and Luisa. She finds Julian's lair and decides to go in.
Camila gives blood to save her sister Tatiana.
The doctor is with Matilde who slowly wakes up from her operation and starts to speak as perfecto is also there asking her some key questions. He ask her to calm down and tells the doctor he only needs a couple of minutes.
Perfecto tells Matilde not to worry that her son is safe and outside with her parents and that she is safe as well. He ask what happen as Matilde croaks out frighten Julian it's Julian he's "El Cazador'.
Julian is with Briandead who wants to know why he is doing this he explains a little but taunts her about being involved with Rodrigo with all of his problems. How long he waited for her to get over him as he loved her for so long.Rodrigo, Rodrigo this and Rodrigo that he mimics her i have to admit this scene is funny considering how much she defended him to Rodrigo.
Valeria gets out of her car to check around and all us in the audience are yelling get back into your car and get the heck out of there you know that Julian is the killer so what the heck are you doing?
Rodrigo is impatient as he and Luisa wonder where Valeria is at he tried to call her one more time but no answer. The rest of the cops show up as Luisa gives out directions driving a restless Rodrigo more crazy with waiting he jumps into Luisa suv and takes off. As Luisa and the rest of the cops follow after him.
Matilde lays in bed as her doctor smiles at her. She moves her hands a little.
Back at the lair Julian tells Briandead from here on out she and Sofia are a total package he won't allow her to leave or abandon her baby like the others.what did you do?
What others ask Braindead? Julian rambles on how he was justified in what he did he's not a monster he insist to her as ghost of all his female victims before he killed Mauricio popped up in his head.
Finally Eva shows up dressed up as his mother asking him will he kill Braindead now? Why won't he kill her she taunts him as she baits him with killing Braindead. Julian's meltdown morphs into his mother abusing him as a little boy another memory of his abuse at his mother's hands.Briandead ask him what's the matter what happened with his mother as Julian loses it and tells her what his mother did to him day and night.
He comes back to reality from that memory as a cringing Braindead ask him why he explains that those women deserved it.Braindead ask what women and Julian gives her a list of names especially the ones she knew personally Rocio,Blanca Gordon and Eva.
Braindead is really frighten now as Julian tells how her how he enjoyed his victims screaming and the blood and fear in their eyes before they died. Briandead takes in all of this disclosure of what and truly Julian is.
The music was fantastic for this episode sounded like something from "The Omen" movies kept you on the edge of your seat.
Still can’t figure out if José is really interested in Paula or what. He tries to kiss her forcefully, but she rejects him totally.
Efraín thinks Beatriz was interested in José for his money, but of course that isn’t really it.
Juan offers Paula $7 million, overheard by Sofía, but we knew she’d turn it down.
Inez tells Eleuterio that she only ever loved him. He seems affected by this, but tries to brush it off.
Sofía seems to be playing her own game, trying to get the big bucks.
After catching Julieta and Pedro in some cabin (where the heck are all these cabins anyway?), Juan decides Julieta is a skank and that he won’t give her a penny.
There might be a warming trend in the household of Miguel and Rosa. She’s trying her best to win him over. Consuelo, however, let her have it about only yelling and fighting on her mother’s part.
Amador is caught by Efraín trying to steal money to pay off some bad guys he owes money to. It looks like Lucas wants to help.
Valeria is hanging out outside Julián’s apartment. Valeria, call someone!
Pedro Pablo saves the baby. He gives the child to Lola who coos over the niño and tells the crowd of reporters what a hero her husband is. We see Lucy being carted off screaming. Hopefully, a nice padded cell for a very long time awaits her.
En route in the car Julián pulls over, kisses Piedad, tells her there’s lots he wants to do with her (ugh, gross!) and then injects her to knock her out. Of course, he’s taking her to the murder cellar.
After she wakes up he gives her Sofía and tells her they are going to be here forever. And that he’s going to tell her how he really is. Uh oh.
Looks like Tatiana survived, and Camila donated blood.
Mathilde awakes and the prefect tells her Emilio is safe. She fingers Julián as El Cazador. Later she looks wonderingly at her hands – that she can move them. Very touching.
Valeria manages to give them an idea of where Julián is headed.
Rodrigo and Carvajal stop the car, but Rodrigo doesn’t like all the cops around, thinking Julián will see them and freak out. He takes the police car and drives off.
Julián tells Piedad there won’t be any more lies between them. He proceeds to tell her about how his mother’s abuse began. And that first night was when he first loved her, and first hated her. All the murdered ghosts show up and talk to him. Piedad figures out that he was killing his mother over and over when he killed these women. He tells her how they were the remedy. He felt peace, fear, pleasure, all these things. Piedad looks at him horrorstruck.
The men on this show are very good with babies. Pedro Pablo was so cute snuggling with his baby on the roof and then bringing him to Lola.
Even creepy Julian had Sofia happy and content in his murderous arms in the cellar of death.
Valeria is toast. She's even wearing 4 inch high heeled boots. She will not be able to get away from Julian. Oh well. We knew it would probably happen to leave the way clear for Peidad and Rod.
I am wondering with Julian saying Piedad is his salvation, if she will be the one to kill him? How else could she be his salvation? I also wondered if that was actually Valeria coming down the stairs, or was it Rodrigo, in tonight's previews? It could be my wishful thinking that if they saved Tatiana (I think), that Valeria will not be a victim. But Valeria picked the wrong moment to take the title of braindead from Piedad.
OMG Vivi you noticed that too i was saying when she walked up the stairs to the house is this idiot wearing high heels boots? No way is she getting away from Julian now. Well actually i knew she was a goner once she got out of that car. But then again maybe we are getting ahead of ourselves and he's only just stabbed her i don't want her to die. But that was stupid of her to get out and investigate in those type of boots.
Nellie haha Valeria taking the title of Braindead from Braindead that's funny. I guess we have to look upon this action of hers as her trying to save at least Rodrigo's daughter from Julian. I know for darn sure i wouldn't done that i would stayed in my car and got to the nearest phone to call Rodrigo and tell him where i'm at.
I think Inez also said that Don Emilio pursued her relentlessly, that she gave in, but didn't love him (only loved Eleuterio).
Sofia has a plan to convince Paula to take the $7 million (or more precisely, to get it for herself). I'm not mentioning the previews, except to say that tonight we may find out what that plan is.
I love every scene with Guadalupe. She's so different than she was in Munecas de la Mafia, where she played a tough daughter of a Mafia guy. A similarity, though, is that she adored her father, flawed as he was, in both shows.
I know it was part of Julian's twisted mind, but I enjoyed seeing all of his victims appear to him in their underwear. Sorry!
Luisa is better than most of the cops, but I agree with Rodrigo. She was just saying you go over here, you go over there, wait for instructions, etc. Rodrigo knew it was no time for waiting, it was time for action!
Of course Valeria should have gone to a neighbors' house, or a gas station, and called, giving a more precise location. Also, don't cell phones have GPS in them? I like her great description. "I'm on the Principal Highway, heading North". It's amazing they even know what CITY to look in. BTW, those high-heeled boots could be a hindrance in escaping, but if she uses the heels to kick, look out!
Wow,wow wow what a episode!
Valeria has the woman never seen any horror movies going into a place with high heels fashion boots you can barely walk straight in after a serial killer.
OMG she did surpass Braindead with that move, but to make matters worse she didn't find anyone at the house she goes into the garage and goes down the steps she could just listened to what Julian said and got the heck out of there.
No she had to be acting like she was one of Charlie's Angels. RIP Valeria we were quite fond of you while you were alive.
Well i guess Braindead has no doubts now about Julian being "El Cazador" . She still couldn't garner any sympathy from me no matter how terrorized she looked. Rodrigo kept warning and warning but she stubbornly refused to listen.
Rodrigo if your going to make pronouncements that you will kill Julian with your own hands please do a better job of defending yourself.
So Tomorrow is the Gran Final.
Pedro Pablo gets little Pedrito as the social worker tells him Lola filled her in on everything and how the baby is his son.
Loca Lucia mother protest about her being sent to the crazy house. That should been done about 60 episodes ago.
Loca Lucia is talking to a guy as he determines her mental capacity. She calls him her father and then she finally ask where her father went.
Rodrigo outsmarts the cops and their roadblock.
Camila ask Benja to come with her and pray for Tatiana to live.Benja has flashbacks to his happy life with Tatiana.
Matilde talks to her son Emilio who is happy to hear her talk.
Perfecto tells Angel that Matilde confirmed that Julian Garcia is "El Cazador' and how Rodrigo is going after him to save his daughter who is in grave danger.
Valeria tried to sneak up on Julian with a shovel but tripped in her designer boots. He threw her around like a rag doll in front of Braindead. Valeria did get the best of Julian for a moment but he came to his sense as she tried to free Braindead.
He tied her up and taunted braindead until he heard the helicopter he ask Valeria if she was responsible for that. Valeria bravely tells him yes and she told Rodrigo and the cops also. In his rage Julian kills Valeria.
Pedro Pablo is at home with Lola and his new son and children as Benja comes and tells them that Julian is really 'El Cazador".
Rodrigo finds Julian's hideaway and goes in to confront Julian who runs over holding the knife to Braindead's throat threatening him.
Rodrigo sees Valeria's body and the stabbed wounds he goes to her trying to wake her up.
Lola goes to the hospital to be with Camila after hearing that Julian is " El Cazador" and that he stabbed Tatiana.
Rodrigo and Julian fight as Rodrigo yells for braindead to get out of here she cowers in the corner holding baby Sofia.Rodrigo and Julian take turns getting the upper hand of each other.
When it looks like Julian is going to hit Braindead with a big piece of wood Rodrigo stops him and finally this wakes up Braindead to scramble out of there.
Julian gets the upper hand in the fight and knocks Rodrigo down and stabs with a piece of glass in his leg. Julian then picks up a gasoline container and pours it on the fallen Rodrigo.
Wow, thank you for the recap, excellent as always and much appreciated. I liked reliving last night's episode, a truly unexpected turn of events. I had hoped Rodrigo would end up with Valeria. Totally wrong. One more episode to go, there seems to be a lot to wrap up. I wonder if we will see Matilde tell her son what his father is, or if there will be a Part II.
RIP Valeria. She put up a good fight (but of course should have never gone in). That scene with Julian throwing her across the room like a rag doll was so realistic looking. I was worried for the actress, because there was no way that was a stunt double (who else could they find that has that tall skinny build).
Rod should not have gone in either. But he should have at least called the cops and given them exact directions before doing so. His phone was still functioning, unlike Valeria's.
Dammit Piedad. Run!
I thought the memories Benja was having of Tati were really sweet. If she survives, I think he can forgive her for sleeping with Julian now (still hypocritical of him). I'm hoping that she does survive and that this near death incident is what it takes for her and Benja to be able to heal, forgive, and perhaps build something new.
Thanks for the quickie recap Blu.
I think the flashback that Valeria had of her conversation with Camila telling her that Rodrigo will always be in love with Braindead because she is the love of his life. I think it was a hint that Valeria was going to sacrifice herself to help get Braindead and baby Sofia away from Julian. Valiant move stupid but Valiant move by her.
Vivi i know that scene wasn't meant to be funny but it was the way Julian tossed her around like a rag doll. I did wonder if they used a stunt double because the actress who played Valeria is as skinny as a rake.
Can there be a reconciliation for Benja and Tatiana if she lives?I don't know after she caught him with Camila at the restaurant and threw it in his face that she slept with Julian i thought they were beyond the point of no return.
I will say this though if Tatiana does survive i think she has learned a valuable lesson about judging people and their supposed characters by what she sees. All throughout she has been very judgmental towards Rodrigo and his drug addiction instead of understanding and compassionate towards him. When it came to Julian she thought he was the perfect man to have as a husband smart good looking reliable perfect father. Now she realizes how fooled she was or at least i hope she does.
wind up with Dr. Gibson. He is young, single, gazes at her adoringly, and sometimes they play romantic music in the background of their scenes. So maybe! The one thing I have never been sure of is Tatiana and Benja. The writrs have been so good about making us think they'll reconcile and then maybe they won't. I am back to thinking they will. Benjamin has really grown and changed, as has Camila, who I think although she loves him would not want to take him away from Tatiana and kids. The only way Benja and Camila could now wind up together is if Tatiana dies. But I dont think she will, as the Dr. said it's up to her and her will to survive. We all know Tati's will and strength - which was both good and bad. In the end, she'll probably survive and she and Benja will get back together again. As Vivi pointed out, she will probably be changed by her experience.
Thanks everyone for a really interesting discussion. And thanks to those who offered summaries. This has been quite a show and quite a fun experience.
So is Paula the daughter of Emilio, or isn't she? Despite what Gustavo told her and Sofia told her, it seems pretty safe to assume she's not, and that she's actually Gustavo's daughter. But we don't know for sure.
I keep think Juan is getting worse and worse, meaner and meaner, and Paula is getting more an more human. Maybe they'll meet somewhere in the middle!
NJSue- I have also felt the romantic vibe from the beginning, each time Dr. Gibson looks at Matilde. I think he fell a little in love with her from the moment he first saw her. That would be a nice end for Matilde who has been through so much. I am not sure how they will explain to Emiliano that his father was a cold blooded serial killer. But even he has grown to appreciate his mother more and to not see his father as perfect. I still worry that that kid carries some defective evil gene like his dad and grandma...
Even if Tati and Benja don't end up in a romantic relationship/marriage again, I'm sure this experience will bring them back to at least being friends. And you're absolutely right that Tati will learn not to be so judgemental of people.
I couldn't believe Loca Luci's mom was shocked that they wanted to lock her hija away in a manicomio. Hello! She should have gotten her daughter mental help long ago.
I was happy to see Lola give Camila a maternal, caring hug right away at the hospital. The first time she has ever greeted Camila with anything but scorn.
Great recap and comments, everyone. I think it was hilarious how inept the police were in chasing Rodrigo. He got away, and he even found the hideout. They, who were checking "every single corner in the zone (or area)", as Prefecto told us, found zip.
Not only did Valeria try to knock out Julian, she also refused just to take the baby, trying (unsuccessfully) to save both the baby and Piedad. Also, by defying Julian, she confirmed that Piedad had nothing to do with Valeria, Rodrigo or the cops, which also helped to save Piedad a little. Valeria certainly was valient.
There's a telenovela "rule" which says that the good guys can't kill the bad guy. I'm not sure this is always true, but if so, neither Rod nor Piedad could kill Julian. He'd either get killed by the cops, or by "accident", such as falling off a cliff, going over a cliff in a car, staggering backwards and impaling himself on something, etc. Can't wait to see what happens!
That Gustavo is really something, telling Paula he'd never fake the DNA results, based on his stellar reputation as a lawyer. AS IF! He's playing every side against each other, lying to just about everyone. Hasn't that family ever heard of conflict of interest? How can Juan, Jose, Sofia, Paula, and maybe even Pedro and sometimes Julieta, think that Gustavo is working for (each of) them???
Hombre, I was thinking the same thing, to be precise: Keystone Kops watching all those police vehicles chasing Rodrigo, sirens blaring, helicopter blades going thwup-thwup. Good idea, guys, why not make a lot of noise that Julián can hear so he'll panic and kill Piedad and the baby. And then, as the final example of ineptitude, Rodrigo gets clean away.
At least Fiscal Jackass admitted what a botch he had made of the entire case.
At this point I don't want Julián to die, although he probably will. For me a much better ending for him would be in a secure nut house or prison (much more secure than the one Rod was in). He qualifies to be in one of those super-maxes where the guys are in their cells alone 23 hours a day. Of course, Julián would not be alone, he'd have the company of his victims from time to time.
He would suffer so much more from confinement. Death is too good for him.
Good catch, those of you who thought Dr. Gibson was interested in Mathilde. I didn't pick up on that.
I wonder if we will see Mathilde telling Emilio about his father. Frankly, I think the writers would be stumped coming up with dialog for that one. I don't think we'll see it. The kid is going to be devastated.
The killing of Valeria was the worst yet, extremely violent, extremely cruel. I think Piedad should have not been so cowardly and looked at her as she died. Some grateful look, some last forgiveness of previous bitchiness was in order.
Fabulous comments, everyone!
Vivi, although I've worried about the state of Emilio's soul in the past and whether he might be the next generation cazador, I felt that when he insisted on staying with his mother and refused to leave with Julián, that showed us which side he was on. Also, there was more and more insistence on the abuse Julián suffered as a little boy as the reason he became a monster. Fortunately, Emilio has never been exposed to an abusive environment. Although when he finds out the truth about his father... yikes.
Vivi i could not believe that Loca Lucia's mom didn't want or seemed shocked her daughter should be locked up. Which pretty much explains why Lucia got to that point in her mental health. It does seem that the doctor who was interviewing Lucia is not of the same mind like Lucia's mother.I felt this before about Lucia mother not really doing enough to help her daughter just hoping she come to her senses.
Great point about Lola's maternal hug and perhaps she has learned not to be so judgemental herself.
Hombre i will say that when it comes to self defense that hero has or can kill his enemy i saw it done in Tu o' Nadie with the main hero. Every once in awhile we get a exception to this rule.
Now as for who gets rid of Julian well it depends that Helicopter should have seen Julian's suv went they heard it flying overhead. Then there's Rodrigo hijacking Luisa's suv hopefully there's some type of lo-jack in order for the police to trace it's whereabouts.
It might come down to Braindead killing Julian now that would be ironic the one she defended with so much spirit turns out to be a sick and twisted serial killer and she's the only one capable of killing him. no telling when the cops will get there or what condition Rodrigo will be in.
I hope there aren't any serial killers watching this novela. Or maybe I do hope so. If they are watching, they'll all move to Chicago, making California safer for me. These cops couldn't manage a one-car funeral.
I've been sitting here reading all your comments, with a smile on my face. So many things come to light, I think all of you should stand up and give yourself a round of applause. I thought I saw the look of love on the doctor's face last night, but thought I was reading far too much into it. I thought with Julian pouring gasoline on Rodrigo, that Piedad would redeem herself come back running down the stairs and push Julian in as he lights the match and then say "you were right hon, I am your savior!", then snap her fingers and walk out.
I believe they saved Tatiana so she can learn her lesson and be happy with Benja. At least they will have their happy ending
Rod and Piedad might have a "happy" ending but I won't buy it.
Valeria's death was the saddest for me. She was so vulnerable and yet so brave (and foolish and suicidal, but still...)
I have seen many expections to the good guys don't kill rule. Santos Torrealba killed plenty of bad guys in La Tormenta and not necessarily in self defense, although always to defend someone else, but he seemed to enjoy it more than the regular telenovela heroes, Zorro killed Montero in the end (it was almost self defense, but hmmm it was tinted with revenge), good guy killed bad guy, and not in self defense in Ramona too, I dont remember the character's names. It was not self defense either.
I think the suggested scenario of Piedad killing Julian to save Rodrigo would fit well. It would redeem her at least a tiny bit.
Juan's being a real jerk to Julieta; it would serve him right if he were ousted by his brothers. From what I understand, turns out Paula is not bio child of Emilio.
How can Lucas claim to love Rosario, when just last week he wanted Paula? I'm glad though he's sorta jealous of Amador. Thus far, the only believable couple in love is Gaspar/Guadalupe.
Aeryn, I'm sure you're right about those novelas where the hero killed the main bad guy. I haven't been watching for that long, and hadn't seen any of those you listed. I do remember in Pasion, Ricardo killed a bunch of people, but he didn't kill the most evil guy, Lafont. He did poke his eye out, though, and Lafont also lost a leg somehow, but in the end, it was an executioner's axe that finished him off. Now THAT might teach Julian a lesson!
Shallowgal, I like to watch Consuelo and Johnny. No, they're not the perfect couple, but I always start laughing when I see them together.
Totally agree with the foregoing comments on Gustavo; he's a real sleaze. There are so many conflicts of interest in this scenario he should be disbarred. I can't imagine what he expects to get out of all this.
Paula is beyond redemption and she's dragging all the brothers down with her (except Gaspar).
Sofia needs a few swift kicks as well.
Just saw your post about this.
You are not alone watching it! I saw most of the novela when it played here a few years ago, and was thrilled to see that it's on again. It's wonderful, and not just because the divine Martin Karpan is the star. I love the beautiful Colombian Spanish and the colorful barrio slang, the actors are darling, the story is funny and sometimes touching, I love seeing life in the Pension with the Pelaez family and their neighbors. It is one of my favorite novelas ever.
