La Fea Más Bella #219-220 2/18/11 A Jouney of a Thousand Miles Begins With a Single Step.

Capitulo 219.
Read Chapel Hill Fiddler’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Gui joins the meeting. He’ll approve the project if Aldo is put in charge. Fernando throws a tantrum. Lety shuts him down and accepts Gui’s condition. Marcia approves of how Lety handles things.

2. Saimon brings Ali her bills and she tries to ignore them. Isn’t that why she lost her car?

3. Gui leaves. Fern says it’s ridiculous to have some taquero (taco vendor) running their ad campaign. Fern asks where Lety found him. Caro steps in, “She met him in Acapulco when I took her there after you (uds) fired her.”

4. In Lola’s fantasy at the court, Efren declares his love and begs her back. In reality the judge’s priority is the children. Lola gets custody, and Efren’s support will be 3K pesos monthly, plus school fees. Efren earns 15K pesos per month; Lola 4K. But Efren hasn’t paid school fees so she raises the support to 5K. Efren objects forcefully, so she raises it to 7K, almost half his salary.

5. Fern proposes that he and Omar travel to NY and London to get distributors to invest in the project. Omar proposes Marcia go, and she’s sure it’s because Fern wants to get rid of her. So Fern says he’ll go. Aldo likes the idea of getting Fern out of the way. Lety doesn’t!

6. Marcia objects, saying Fern is needed at Conceptos, but it’s actually because she can’t keep him under surveillance if he travels. Aldo flatters Fern, pointing out his great knowledge, skill, and authority (as what? ex-president?). Fern sucks up the flattery.

7. Marcia offers to travel with Fern, and he panics and finds an excuse why she can’t. Then she’s offended that she doesn’t have an important assignment, and Fern suggests that one go to NY and the other to London. Checkmate! Lety finishes the meeting depressed because Fernando will be gone. Isn’t that what she says she wants?

Capitulo 220.
Read k-Fuego’s original recap, then come back here to discuss it.

1. Lety tells Aldo she needs him there. He invites her to lunch again. She begs off again because she has plans with the cuartel, so Aldo gets aggravated with the cuartel and asks, “When’s it my turn?”

2. Fernando accepts that he’s paranoid and frantic. That’s why he needs to get away and put his life in order. It hurts every time he sees her. Lety tells Aldo that she’s gotten used to having Fernando around, and she’ll suffer again when he’s gone. But it’s better that he’s gone so he can do what he wants with whatever woman he wants.

3. Aldo briefs Caro. He’s amazed that Lety doesn’t see that he loves her, and she tells him about her broken heart. Caro says Lety has a lot on her mind, between the presidency and Fernando. Caro is surprised that Fern drives him nuts, since Aldo is the most mellow dude she knows. Aldo says that mellow dude stayed behind like a dream in Acapulco.

4. Tom tries to buy Alicia’s embargoed car. Ali calls the agent to demand the remaining balance from any sale. During the call her cell service is cut off.

5. Fern tells Aldo he has ulterior motives for wanting Fern to travel. Aldo says they would avoid conflicts. “You must be fleeing (huir) something.” Fern says, “You’re invading my territory and I don’t like it.” Aldo answers, “Y?” which is like saying, “What ‘cha gonna’ do about it?”

6. Marcia summons Caro to talk about Lety. See the transcript. Luigi accepts blame for the conflict with Ruli because he’s fallen in love with another. Efren has to tell Jazmín about the judge’s order.

7. Fern wonders where Aldo got the idea that Fern is fleeing. Omar suspects that Lety told Aldo everything. Not good news. He says, “Then Aldo thinks I used her, deceived her, and never loved her.” Omar suggests that Aldo is poisoning Lety against him. Fern says, “No, your letter was enough to make me her enemy for life.” Fernando finally takes the US embassy call, and he and Omar actually work!

8. Ali asks Marcia for a “loan.” Marcia turns her down flat. Ali tells Lety she needs a raise and an advance right away. When Lety refuses, Ali is convinced that it’s revenge.

9. Tom tells Aldo he doesn’t like Fern because he takes advantage of people and doesn’t care about others. Aldo says the both dislike Fernando. Tom says they also both like the same woman. Aldo thinks he means Lety.

Jaime and Angelica host Premio Lo Nuestro 2011, 17 February.

Spanish Lesson, Marcia and Carolina.
Loose translation.
M: What is your relationship with Lety?
C: I hired her as assistant when she was fired.
M: That woman put me through hell.
C: I don’t want to get tangled up in those things. I came here to work on the food expo.
M: I suppose you’re happy Lety is the new president. (IOW Marcia is determined to drag Caro into the conflict despite what Caro just said. You can’t be my friend if you’re gonna’ be her friend! Wahh!)
C: I don’t want my relation with Lety to destroy our friendship. But if it’s that important to you, I’m sure you can hire someone else. (IOW, if you tell me to choose, you lose!)
M: Oh, no, I didn’t mean that at all. (Especially if you don’t yield to my threat.)
C: Please remember, my support of Lety is not a position against you.
(Tu servidor recapper says, “Pay attention, Marcia. You should take dignity lessons from Carolina.”)

Thank you, Pata. Lots of great photos today! Anybody want to guess why I included the last one?

Don't try to read too much into the title this time. It doesn't really stand up to analysis. But with so much talk today about who's traveling where, and Fernando making steps forward and steps backwards, and no better title occurred to me... well, that's as good as it gets!

The purple book on Aldo's bookcase is Guinness World Records 2001 in English (I know because we have it). The book is targeted toward about 7th graders. There is another book about Nashville. Maybe Mexico relies on the US for its coffee table books.

Alicia asks Luigi for a loan to pay her phone bill. He takes it and turns it off, and he makes a pun between pago (I pay it) and apago (I turn it off).

Omar’s office, Fern says, “I have to find out how much Lety told Aldo.” I’m pretty sure that everything thereafter is improvised. The camera keeps rolling so they keep talking. Now, when Fern and Ali have to fill, or Fern and Lui have to fill, or even Fern and Tomy have to fill, it’s genius. They play off each other seamlessly. But bouncing lines off Augie A (Omar) is like bouncing a basketball in a snowdrift – the ball goes down and it never comes back!

I don't know why you included the last picture, but I'll settle for the fact that it's a good picture of Fernando!

I love the Aldo picture, too. It reminds me of your (Paula's) comparison of water vs. earth. Aldo is like a fish out of water. A very angry fish!

I can't figure out why the last photo either. I know it came from Fern looking at Omar lying on the sofa.....

I agree that Aldo is beginning to crack. Maybe he'll crack in half and get smushed into the earth (Like his pearl).

Fern = earth Aldo = water
Which one has more sustainability? I vote for earth staying around because water drains away.

Diann

Diann,

Don't forget erosion, which is the earth crumbling away into the sea. And then there's the fact that water covers something like 70% of the Earth's surface...

On the other hand, Lety already threw herself into the ocean, and the ocean tried to claim her, but she survived, which maybe means she's not a water girl. However, since it was Aldo who saved her from drowning, this really isn't the best metaphor...

Yes Julie. But the ONLY time that Aldo has kissed Lety, they were in the ocean. Then they walked up on land, and as far as Lety's concerned she kissed Fernando on the beach. The other Aca kiss, Lety kissed Aldo, and that seemed more like a granny kiss than anything seriously romantic.

OTOH, water can destroy land, but land can't destroy water.

I look at it as water can slip through your hand if you try and hold on to it. You can hold onto a handful of earth. It is much more tangible.
Fern = to have and to hold
Aldo = just dribbling away

Diann

Oops, I meant water WILL slip through your hand if you try and hold onto it.

And Lety is the hand

Diann

Wonderful recaps and screen shots. I'm going to guess that you included the picture because he has the most beautiful lips in the world.

Gold star for Sylvia! Lips... eyes... hair... burninating sexiness... the list goes on and on.

I think it's interesting. Even with this week of filler caps, we've chalked up the two highest comment counts in this run of Fea, 47 and 42. I don't know why. Do we have more to talk about when there is no plot progress?

Fernando has a point. What does Aldo know about running an advertising campaign? He’s a chef. He’s never even had his own restaurant which means he’s never run a business. There is a book that is not written yet. What he knows is cooking and food culture. What does he know about advertising, investors, distributors, publicity agencies, international business, foreign markets, business partnerships, ANY of that? He’s probably never even contracted for a Yellow Pages ad! Granted, Fernando is not the one to handle the campaign in his present state. But doggone, even Lopez would be better qualified than Aldo for the task!

Sylvia and Paula,
Yes, Yes, Yes, I whole agree totalamente!
But you forgot his hips! Last night during the Premio Lo Nuestro program he and Angie were introducing the group that does the song "Paquete" and Jaime did the most ADORABLE SEXY hip action! Its already on YouTube. Paula maybe you can throw the link on here. (I don't know how to do that)
Have fun girls!!!!
Diann

I see a deep sadness and frustration in Fernando and a pain he's just beginning to understand. He's right that he needs to get away. As much as he wants to be near Lety and she wants to be near him, they need a break. Ferando needs to make the decision of what he wants and then go for it, forsaking everyone else, especially Marcia. Once again Fernando was acting childish in a meeting. Then when he went to see Aldo, it was interesting. Aldo, I think, in some ways was taunting Fernando and wanted him to lose his cool. He's greatly disappointed that Lety still has such strong feelings for Fernando. I'm sure Aldo thinks that if Fernando is gone, he can put the moves on Lety. I hope she is wise enough not to get sucked into his dribble. It is interesting that Mr. Cool is having his feathers ruffled by Fernando but I think what bothers him the most is that he has not been able to break the bond Lety has with Fernando.

Diann, good on you for mentioning his wonderful hips. I did more than one rewind on him. We have had conversations in the past about his dancing prowess.

Yippeee, a gold star for me! I always was good in subjects that I liked.

@jaimecamil baila Paquete #Premiolosnuestro.avi

This is what the clip is labeled in YouTube. I did copy and paste
See if it works
Diann

Dang, it didn't work.
Diann

Diane, try going back to the you tube site and then go to the URL (at the top) and copy that and paste it to this site.

That was halarious. Especially after watching the song. Clever play on words.

Oh and thanks Paula.

Pata sent me a screenshot of the scene, thank you Pata! But I haven't been able to find the clip on YouTube. Does anybody have the URL?

Ok - haven't read the in depth re-caps, but yes we have an awful lot of comments on here lately. I love the debate - it really makes me think a lot harder about the show than I probably would have before I started reading the recaps.

I sort of liked seeing Aldo's feathers get ruffled. A few times in this ep we see him lose his patience ...again I see it as he's showing his humanity now. I thought the "Y?" was a taunt...hahaha - good one Aldo! Pata/Paula - the screen shot of him being pissed off is brilliant! :)

Wow - what a conversation with Caro and Marcia. I was wondering if the cat would get out of the bag about Lety's helping Caro. Marcia is really quite the passive aggressive little bee-yotch! I really loved Caro in this one - she's so classy!

Finally Fern is starting to figure things out...again I say if he just paid attention a little more he'd pick up on so much more! I wonder how he plans to get the info on how much Aldo knows? Eavesdropping? Who doesn't know about the whole sordid affair at this point? I guess only a handful and I'm sure it won't be long before they know too.

Diann & Julie interesting conversations about the water and the earth. Just so I'm clear - Fern is earth/Aldo is water or is it the other way around?

@Paula H - just to play devil's advocate - do we know what Aldo did before he ran away to be a chef in Acapulco? Did he work for the family biz at some point before deciding he wanted to live his own life? I can't recall at this point - his history was so muddled...It's possible that somewhere in his past he might have some relevant experiences...at least he's good at BS'g like he does...The good thing about his being in charge is that if it's a total failure it can all pretty much be blamed on him. It was pretty likely that it would be a failure if Fern was put in charge of it - the relationship would have been over in a day the way he was behaving.

Oh and I know every hates him but I finally figured out the name of the show that "ariel" or raul magana hosts - it's a show called "Se Vale" on Galavision. http://televisa.esmas.com/entretenimiento/programastv/se-vale/
Raul actually seems pretty animated and friendly as a host...it's a silly show - not at all what I'd expect of the actor portraying Ariel.

Thanks as always for the great insights and debate on this board. You ladies are always so much fun. I now need to check out Jaime's hips on youtube.

So Barbara, do you think Aldo is trying to provoke Fernando to lose control? With what motive? To yank his chain? To make him look bad in front of Lety? I will say this. When Fern accused Aldo of invading his territory and Aldo answered, "Y?", that was definitely an in-your-face response in Spanish.

Marcia is grudgingly giving Lety ground. She stopped bailing out Ali. She let Lety punish Ali along with the cuartel for being late. She took Ali as her scty. She keeps Luigi in line. In 218 she told Ali to stop poisoning her against Lety. And today in the meeting, in front of everyone she approved of how Lety’s handling the food project. Marcia started Lety’s presidency, objecting to everything Lety did, but she’s coming around. Now Fernando objects to everything Aldo does.

Paula, I do think Aldo is trying to show how much he's a better person than Fernando; more mature and thoughtful. If he can get Fernando to really lose it in front of Lety, I think he thinks it'll be the straw that breaks the camel's back. Aldo doesn't realize that Lety's already seen Fernando at his worst; using people left and right; and still fell in love with him. One day the boy is going to realize that Fernando is so deep in Lety's heart that nothing is going to remove him. Aldo may convince Lety and she may believe for a while, but eventually she'll realize that for her there's no one like Fernando. He was her first lover and, so far, her only lover. When she gave herself to him, she gave herself completely (todo) and she's not able to take any of that back nor does she truly want to.
So I'm back again to the point I've made before and that is that Aldo is a user. He will use Fernando's emotions, jealousy, etc. to show him up in Lety's eyes. It's simply a grown-up pissing contest. My money is on Fernando.

Barbara - I'm not sure Aldo is a user just yet. Maybe he is - maybe he isn't. I honestly think today's "Y?" was more about male ego. It was simply a pissing contest - Aldo's frustrated by Fern's seemingly out of the blue attacks on him. I probably would have behaved the same way...

I had a dramatic thought - I honestly think Lety is using Aldo. She's using him to get over Fern. Of course Aldo wants to be used by her & even more importantly loved by her, but all the same she's using him. Telling him she needs him there...playing to his male ego. She wants to use him as a confidante...I feel bad for the poor guy. He's definitely going to get his heart broken if it continues this way!

Omar (or was it Fern?) says he thinks Aldo has poisoned Lety against him, but Fern points out that Lety would have been poisoned by the letter Omar wrote. I think Lety has actually tolerated quite a load of BS from Fern up until this point. He doesn't know what poisoned is apparently if he thinks she's been nasty to him up until this point. I think that's sort of his own selfishness that he can't see how much it's hurting her...I guess all he can see is the "new Lety" not the girl who wore her heart on her sleeve when she feel in love with him before...

I'm ready to get to the good stuff already! Monday can't come soon enough. Let's get this plot moving along already!

I found the clip of Jaime dancing at PDN. Click here to see it.

Barbara, I love reading your predictions! Keep 'em coming!

I've noticed that just lately, everyone is digging deeper in the analysis. As iron sharpens iron, I think we're bringing out the best in each other. Of course, we still have plenty of space for the lightweight comments as well - "Check your agenda, Ariel; you have a date with the pie cart of scorpions!" Or, " Jaime did the most ADORABLE SEXY hip action!" It's all good!

I discovered Fea in the last few weeks of the original run, and so most of it, I saw on DVD after the finale. That was great, but I kept finding all these golden nuggets and couldn't share them with anyone. When Fea rebroadcast, I decided to manage a recap board in the hope that a community of intense watchers/commenters would develop so I could finally, finally have what I missed the first time around. This board has far exceeded anything I hoped for. Thank you, friends. This is the most fun I've ever had on the internet.

Oh, for those of you who enjoyed Jaime's hips, mark your calendars for Cap 282. You're in for a treat. Actually that cap features more tush than hips, but I suspect nobody will complain.

Paula,
Thanks for finding that link. I am no good at that stuff.
OMG you just had to taunt me with "wait until 282" ! Tush action!!! I'm dyin' just dyin'. Do you know how LONG its gonna take to 282? I have to wait 62 caps! thats 31 show days, thats 6 weeks! You are just trying to kill me I know it now....

Barbara,
I think Aldo is trying to make Fern look as bad a possible in front of Lety. He's trying to make himself look good to her by trying to make Fern look bad. He keeps telling Lety to forget about Fern, put him in your past blah blah blah. I don't think Fern can look bad to Lety because she fell in love with all of him, it is all good to her. That's why she can't get over him. He is there in her heart. Her struggle is she thinks it was all a one way love, he didn't mean all the wonderful things he said or did (besos, caresses). Fern has to figure out a way to break through her wall she built up and maybe going away will help him figure it out. I am hoping while he is gone that nutty Aldo turn her away from Fern. Then he is going to have a doubly hard job, convincing her of his true love AND winning her back.

I just want this plot to move!!!!

This board has been great. You know what, by now I can even tell who's writing the comment before I get to the bottom where the name is. Everyone has been fun and entertaining and insightful.
Thanks Ladies!!!
Diann

Oops, I meant "I hope nutty Aldo DOESN'T turn Lety away from Fern"

Diann

GP, sorry I forgot to answer your questions.

1. Fernando is earth. Aldo is water. Remember, Aldo is of the beach of Acapulco. Fernando is of DF which is landlocked.

2. Aldo's past. He refused to work in his father's business. He studied cooking instead. And if his dream was to open his own restaurant, then we can assume that he hasn't owned a restaurant yet.

3. Regarding Omar poisoning Lety against Fern. I don't think he thinks she's been nasty to him. It's just that he's sure she hates him, based on her "I never want to see you, I never want to talk to you."

I don't think Lety thinks of herself as using Aldo. It's not her speed. But, she does need his comfort and strength right now because she doesn't realize how much strength she has on her own. I believe Aldo wants to keep her in a needy place. My evidence: when Lety stepped up to be president and starting making the hard decisions, Fernando was so proud of her. You could see it on his face. Aldo, on the other hand, reminded Lety that she couldn't do this without him and she bought that hook, line, and sinker.

Fernando has to go away; he has to experience the total pain of separation from Lety so that he comes back in full form to fight for her. He's got a lot of growing up to do but his decision to walk away for a while is one giant step forward for him. Fernando knows he is taking a risk leaving Lety at the mercy of Aldo's clutches, but he also knows he has to do this. I see a full circle thing here. Fernando has always been the me, me, me person. Now he is willing to sacrifice in order to become the man Lety needs him to be. Aldo, well he's not willing to sacrifice his feelings or walk away from Lety in order for her to clarify things in her heart and head. So, who's the bigger man here? My answer you know; it's Fernando.

One more point, as Fernando walks away from Lety, he also walks away from Marcia. I'm not sure he's thought that all the way out but I could tell from Marcia's comments at the meeting that she has.

Okay, I lied. Another point. I find how Jaime Camil conducts himself in love scenes marvelous. Most other galans on TN's are sucking face like an octopus' tentacles. Jaime seems to have respect for his co-stars and does passionate kisses without going too far. I admire him for that and the restraint makes him even more sexy.

Hmm. The reason Lety NEEDS Aldo around as she keeps saying, is not because of the pressures of the presidency (although she needs his project), but because of everything related to Fernando because she still loves him. So let me get this straight. Lety needs Aldo because she loves Fern. Aldo wants her to need Aldo and not love Fern. If she didn’t love Fern, she wouldn’t need Aldo.

Good point, Barbara, that Fern has taken a big step. He risks leaving Lety at Aldo's mercy because his higher priority is to put his life in order. Además, Fern has always tried to control people. Here he's putting himself where he can't control her.

Barbara, would you please e-mail me? paulah88@hotmail.com

But it is Lety who keeps saying that she needs Aldo --not him. He wants her to need him as a lover and he keeps hoping that's what she means each time she says it. But It is not Aldo who tries to make her believe that she can't be president without him. Only once did the words "you need me" come out of his mouth and he was stating how their needs were mutual and he was only quoting what she had said to him the day before.

Güera

More endless blather about nothing. Watching those endless juntas takes me back to the hours I've spent in meetings where, like on Fea, almost nothing ever gets done. During this one I couldn't help thinking that Fern was acting like a complete horsesa** and Aldo was just smirking and egging him on. Very juvenile on both their parts.

Fern was correct in challenging why Aldo would be given such authority with no background and I found it unbelievable that Gui could come in and dictate who ran the campaign. Yes he is putting up the money but Aldo isn't even an employee of the company. Then again logic and proper business procedures are never part of novela.

I've come to suspect that Juan Soler sometimes has a hard time controlling himself with Jamie's antics. In that little face off in his office when Jamie was blowing on that little shell I thought Juan was going to lose it.

Interesting to see the staid Aldo lose his cool and whine about Lety not going to lunch with him. Perhaps all that time with Lety has rubbed off on him.

One thing I have to say I find myself looking at all the jewelry worn in the show. The only thing I can stand about Aldo is that necklace and even the one Tomy Boy was wearing would find a place in my collection. One the other hand that grotesque thing Caro had around her neck looked like a giant blue shrunken head. Truly horrible.

Premio Lo Nuestro
If you want to see a rebroadcast. On Uni they just said something about it being aired, but I missed the details. It sounded like it would be today. I'm on PST. But there is a soccer match on Uni at 5, and they'll probably broadcast that live, so every time zone would have a different Uni schedule today. The point is, look for it today. Maybe you'll find it.

Angelica's Wedding
Jaime posted several interesting photos on his twitter yesterday. Obviously there are a lot on Angelica's Twitter as well.

Wow - lots of comments. This weekend was insanely busy for me. Thanks Paula H for the answers to my questions!

Barbara- I don't think lety is intentionally using Aldo, but that doesn't mean that she isn't just the same. I tend to agree with Guera's viewpoint as far as Aldo is concerned. I don't think he's intentionally tried to make Lety feel week or dependent on him - especially in regards to her presidency.

I think that Guillermo's other choice would have been to pull the Food Association project from Concepto's. I guess he could have insisted that Fern/Omar not be the project managers and request someone else within Conceptos. That's perfectly reasonable from my experience - I've definitely asked for a different project manager before when I felt my projects weren't being handled by an agency (which is what Concepto's is acting as for this project). I see it as Aldo has been hired as the freelance project manager...Guillermo is comfortable with Aldo because of their friendship/past history. Who knows if it'll be a success (guess those of you who have seen this show would know that huh?), but honestly I'd never hire Concepto's for anything given how none of these people ever work anyway!

LOL @ Decie -watching the jewelry - totally missed that shrunken head Caro is wearing. If they are wearing the same clothes again on tomorrow's caps then I'll check it out then.

Distance makes the heart grow fonder...I'm pretty sure that this trip away will do everyone some good. Hopefully more good for Lety/Fern, but either way...it'll hopefully do some good.

There's a special on Univision now on the east coast Univision feed with Jose Jose (erasmo). His voice still grates my nerves! But it seems to be all about some of the big Mexican singers - the music is nice.

Jaime Camil tweeted this morning about some of the guests (sounded like maybe they were sweepstakes winners to me), confusing Angelica's wedding for a meet n greet and harassing some of the celebs that were in attendance. He said it caused some of them to leave early because they really couldn't enjoy the party without having to stop for autographs or pictures. I thought that was interesting...

Back on Thursday or early Friday I said something about how Fern was holding back - that he was acting out, but at least he wasn't acting out in front of Lety. I was admiring his restraint.

But after Friday's episodes, I see that my admiration was premature. :)

decie girl, I caught the same thing you caught with Jaime blowing on the shell and Juan almost losing it. He also was close to losing it when Lety began guessing why Tomas dyed his hair, he first mentioned some famous clown and then she 'guessed' that he had wanted to look similiar to Lorena Herrera (who is a bleach blonde actress, she played a villain on Maria Isabel in the late 90s). So I saw Juan almost loose it twice in the same two eps.
Regarding the Lety using Aldo or not, and Fernando showing less selfishness than Aldo, I tend to agree with Barbara and Paula. Lety might look like she is using Aldo, but I think Lety is still struggling with her inner feelings and trying to get herself not to feel so much for Fernando. She might truly think that Aldo might have a chance with her if she gets to succeed in pulling Fernando our of her heart. Her head tells her that is what she has to do, but her heart is already 'taken', as Barbara said. I agree that in the first meeting when Lety was named Prez that Fernando was showing unselfish admiration while Aldo tried to make her believe she needed him around in order to succeed. Aldo keeps on thinking that if he makes Fernando lose his control and look bad in her eyes, that she will finally begin to let him into her heart... He still has not figured out or acknowledged that she already sees him as a close friend but she will never be able to replace Fernando in her heart with Aldo. But Aldo has not thrown in the towel yet, and he truly believes that with Fernando dissappearing for a good while, he will be able to make his move.
Fernando, otoh, is gaining points by realizing that not only he needs to put some distance between him and Lety for his own sake, but also for hers. Did he look childish in his reactions to Aldo's pulling his strings? Of course! But from a business point, he did have a point that Aldo did not know much about the business side of the project. Did he go about it the wrong way by trying to undermine Aldo in the meeting? Of course! But he is still learning to deal with hurdles.

I don't think Fern wanted to put distance between himself and Lety. The trip wasn't proposed by him, nor did I get the feeling he wanted to agree to it, so I don't see him at all as making any sacrifices for Lety just yet. Maybe I misunderstood something, but I'm not seeing the same thing you saw Marta...

In one of those chats with Jaime - he mentioned that Juan Soler is a good friend of his. Guess it shows through when they are in the funny scenes together!

if i may, let me brainstorm some things that I find interesting and different from YSBLF. Not sure if one is better than the other storyline, they are just different.
in LFMB, Aldo and Lety showed up to Conceptos almost at the same time after doomsday. Fernando did not even have 24 hrs trying to digest the new Lety when Aldo showed up and it was found out that he and Lety knew each other and were 'close'.
So Fernando suffers Lety's absence and almost simultaneously she shows up and his 'competition' shows up to scramble his feelings even more.
In the original Armando has a good while of time to attempt to get Betty to listen to him and trying to get her back before the Aldo counterpart even makes his first appearance. Even his 'going away' happens before the Aldo counterpart shows up. Obviously without any considerable competition, it seems easier for Armando to walk away for a while and get his life and feelings back in order without the fear of losing Betty (yes, the Ariel and Tomas counterparts were around but they are not real competition). But here it is really a gamble for Fernando to go on a trip now. He is gambling with Lety being taken away by Aldo while he is away. This all makes this part of the story more interesting to me as far as Fernando as a character and his 'growing up'.
I am still giving it a thought because there are things that Fernando does within the next 20 eps or so that could be interpreted (in the motivation sense) very differently because of Aldo being around vs the way I had interpreted them for Armando since the Aldo counterpart has not come into the picture yet in YSBLF.
