La Verdad Oculta EP108 02/17/2011 – E-mail My Heart
*Frightened Julieta calls Lionheart who kicks Adolfo’s bony butt out of the building, and then gets a warm hug from his damsel in distress.
* At home Adolfo calls “Silverio”, who’s just playing billiard with Psycho Eddie and Valentín in a bar. Carmelo tells him his boss needs Adolfo’s e-mail address to get in touch with him and he refuses to tell Dolphie who his boss is. And how much diamonds do they have? Approximately 20. After they finish the conversation Édgar scolds Carmelo: you idiot, we only have 7 gems, the others ended up in the margarine! But Carmelo wants to take a look at the shoes again.
* Bertha and a huge amount of freshly bought, expensive dresses arrive at the condo, where Sugar Daddy gives her a shiny necklace and asks her to call Mario. Convince him she regretted everything and she wants to reconcile with the family. Naturally Adolfo only wants her to mend her relationship with them! But he doesn’t even need to make up a story: Bertha is so enchanted with the necklace that she hardly hears his words.
*The three amigos reunite in Carmelo’s house where Eddie and Valentín show him the shoes, Gabriela’s photo and the documents from Garnica’s safe. Genious Silverio-Carmelo does what nobody else did before: he cuts the other shoe up and finds more diamonds inside.
* In a restaurant Dora and Jorge talk about meeting with David again. Dora’s lines, Jorge’s lines. Jorge plans to arrange a meeting and she decides to disguise herself to avoid danger.
* While having breakfast, Adolfo tells Bertha tales about Mario’s wealth and advises her to meet with him in Mirador at 3 in the afternoon. In the meantime Jorge calls David and they decide to meet in the park. In the neighbouring house Juan José tells Asunción he’s going to visit Elsa, but psst, psst, Mommy Ale mustn’t know about it! If she asks Limón tell her JJ’s in his office.
* In the condo Zebra Bertha calls surprised FaustiMario. She would like to talk with him and to apologize, could they meet at the restaurant on the first floor of Mirador? In their hotel room (which is totally Elsa’s old flat with a new color) Jorge admires Dora’s disguise and gives a pair of sunglasses to the winner of the monthly Lady Gaga Lookalike Contest.
* While Adolfo calls his mobster friends and hires a hitman who will have to get rid of Mario in Mirador, David and a bouquet of flowers meet Dora and Don Jorge in the park. He has so many things to tell her, he doesn’t even know where to start.
* In the prison JJ tells Elsa about Carlos’s 180 degree turn and tries to cheer her up. The most important thing is to get her out of jail. But when Elsa informs him about Mauricio and his lawyer, who are already working on her case, he’s Anti-Medina Centre switches on and says come on, he’s the one who’ll have to help her, he owes her that… and he manages to infuriate Elsa. He doesn’t own him anything and she doesn’t want his pity!
* David is also talking about Carlos, he tells Dora that Adolfo’s son is on their side now. And what about Gabriela, how is she? Blushing, happy and proud David tells her she’s going to be a grandmother. Dora who’s gets overjoyed at the news: look, Don Jorge, I’m going to have grandchildren, too! But there’s one more thing Dave has to tell her… Lately Gaby learned she’s Don Mario’s daughter.
*Carlos shows up at the design studio to invite the ladies for lunch. Ay, qué pena, Alejandra is going to have lunch with her husband, but why doesn’t he accompany Mina? Wink, wink.
* In the prison it’s loyal, caring Ulises’s turn to cheer Elsa up. When she tells him about JJ’s visits and accuses Ulises for visiting her out of pity, too, he assures the girl everyone know she’s innocent and try to prove it. Elsa collapses, she’s afraid this all was her destiny. Ulises doesn’t know how awful her life has been: her father left her, her stepfather tried to rape her and her brother killed him to protect her. Yes, she suffered much, says Ulises, and if it helps her, he can tell her he lives in a prison, too. A prison that’s inside of him. When his father found out he was gay he kicked him out of the house. He had to bear others’ insults all his life, and people like Édgar took advantage of his loneliness. They agree that Zaida, Dante and Eddie took advantage of their benevolence, and when Elsa pulls the “I can’t trust anyone again” card, Ulises reminds her of the people who try to help her: the police, the lawyer, Mauricio and even Juan José. She has to be strong and remember she isn’t alone. In the meantime Alejandra calls her husband at Mirador but learns from his secretary that he’s already left.
* The naughty members of Goonyland are creating e-mails based on what they know about Garnica to make their bosses believe that Dances with Fishes is still alive. “Dante, be careful with Adolfo Ávila, he wanted to kill me in Vallarta! Fortunately a brave boy called Édgar saved me.” (Édgar: Boy? Boy?!) “A brave guy called Édgar saved me. This Édgar also told me that Adolfo’s driven into a corner by the police because of his smuggling businesses, and now he’s looking for a fall guy. It’ll be you, Dante. Be careful with Adolfo, he’s setting up a trap for you.”
*In a bar Mina and Carlos have great time together and talk about their idiot ex-lovers. Did Carlos fall in love with Bertha? He doesn’t really know, but anyway, she left him for his father. Oh, and his father might have killed his mother. But when Carlos looks at Mina he forget his problems and finally realizes how pretty she is.
* Dante receives “Garnica’s” e-mail that almost makes him to swallow his cigar. Number of jaws on the floor: 1. He immediately writes an answer and asks Garnica how could Adolfo drive him into a corner. Carmelo answers that information will cost Dante money, and the goons even manage to throw JJ’s name into the mess, again.
* When Juan José, aka the second worst amateur actor arrives back at Mirador he finds Alejandra in his office and after some lame excuses he admits he visited Elsa. Alejandra looks relieved: that’s why he lied to her? Elsa is his friend, she’s in trouble, JJ may visit her whenever he wants, just don’t lie about it. By the way, he’s got mail. (Juan José: Un MAI?) Alejandra reads out the e-mail: “Mr. Victoria, we have to talk, we have many pending businesses. Bye, Javier Garnica.” Number of jaws on the floor: 3. He’s alive?! Mommy Ale thinks anyone could’ve written that e-mail, and before answering it they should calm down and think the situation over.
* The enthusiastic gangsters send the last letter to Adolfo. “Dear Adolfo, what did you think? I’m alive! And now you’re going to pay me more than I asked for last time. I found out you sent Zaida after me to kill me, but I was smarter than her… I asked Édgar to sleep with her therefore I could flee. And guess what, Dante Sevilla sent a professional torturer after Édgar to find those famous shoes… And now I have them! Because the man Sevilla sent after him is my buddy.” Number of jaws on the floor: 4.
* In Mirador Bertha is waiting for Mario on the first floor. While the old man is climbing the stairs, Ale and JJ show up in the hall and notice both of them. Bertha decides to flee and the couple follows them. That is the moment when Adolfo’s 45th hired goon shows up and pushes FaustiMario over the balustrade. Santiago Guzmán, you definitely should’ve married someone else 23 years ago.

Bertha sure showed herself to be very much like Adolfo in having someone else literally do her dirty work for her. I had hoped she would not sink to this level but oh well.
Loved Carlos and Mina's cute date!!
An explanation: a few days ago I learned Britney Spears had a song called E-mail My Heart on her first album. So when our goons are sending their stupid spams (using the Esmas homepage! :)), think about this:
youtube
Thank you Karen! :)
Here's the megafantastic entrada of the telenovela:

LOL at Dora's disguise. That humongous bow along side her head, alone, should draw attention.
Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Aribeth, and thanks for the link to Britney which I will listen to later (it's the wee hours now) and the info on PVAA and Teresa. Looking forward to your recap. Jeri, thanks for the links
GinCA.
Aribeth, loved your pictures - thank you for the explanation! I appreciate it as I must admit most of my knowledge of Ms. Spears came from a recent episode of Glee (one of the few non-Univision or Bravo shows I watch).
Oh dear. Xint and GinCA, I also thought "cliffhanger" last night. Great minds think alike. Our handsome galan MUST save Fausto/Mario!
I have to admit I had a somewhat somber appreciation for the evil 3's machinations. I grimaced (but with satisfaction) when Adolfo clutched his chest and swallowed his pill. There's more to come Adolfo so don't let that pill vial get too far away from you!
Karen, I totally agree. Bertha has sunk to a new low where a lifeline to redemption is no where to be found. Blech.
Can't wait to read your recap Aribeth.
Happy Friday all!
Diana
However, I wonder whether Univision will broadcast it in the 8 p.m. slot, since I noticed in the D.F. Televisa slots it at the 6 p.m. hour.
She's stupid for believing Adolfo, but what else? Juan José is going to pick "Mario" up from the railing, and Adolfo will fail again, too.
Carlos likes Mina, but he looked hurt when he was telling her about Bertha. What with Elsa still pounding steadily on her bad-luck doomsday drum, I'm still wondering whether she's toast and Mauricio will be available for Mina.
Gawd, that was so much fun watching the three evil amigos ruffle the big birds' feathers. They were having such a good time.
I'm thinking Edgar could actually come forward and clear Elsa at some point. How else could she get out. She's still got a case for Juan José. :-/
Happy Belated Birthday, Airbeth
AND
Boy, Cliffhanger for Real.
Looking forward to the recap.
I don't think Bertha knew the extent of the plan Adolfo cooked up that included her, but funny that the minute she saw Ale and JJ walking in, she fled.
Please tell me, if Mario is supposedly an old, sick man who shuffles as though his feet hurt, WHY ON EARTH didn't he use the elevator. That was a long staircase. How was the assassin to know that he would be using the stairs. Grrrr.
I'm sure "Don M" will be saved, but I wonder if he will be unmasked if he has to go to the hospital.
Newbie-OK
Adolfo had a conversation with Bertha earlier where she admitted sheepishly she hadn't told Alejandra they were married and did not intend to tell her. That's why she ran, I think.
I was LOL at Dora's disguise, and so were David and Jorge. But they were humoring her. So happy David told her she's going to be a grandma in person.
The Three Goons are stirring up trouble. This should be fun.
Elsa is now in the anger phase. Which is understandable. I'm sure JJ had many angry days when he was unjustly put in prison. Heck, he still has those days now that he's out! He did put his foot in it by selecting the wrong words about his obligation to see her, as opposed to saying he "wanted" to see her and support her because he loves her. I'm sure she'll get past this phase with the counsel of good guys Ulises and Mau.
Jeri- OK. Adolfo didn't come right out and say he was going to kill Mario when she met him, but everytime he brings up Mario, he punctuates it by talking about how if Mario dies, RIGHT NOW, Adolfo would get everything and she too would get everything. She has seen this man point a gun at people and she has been on the receiving end of his slaps. Even if she doesn't believe it (yeah, right), she has heard the rumors that this man is a mafioso. She doesn't think he's dangerous and capable of killing someone? Really? She thinks he's an old cuddly teddy bear? No way! She knows she is living with a dangerous man and she knows he could harm her and her family members.
She doesn't know how to explain his bad moods or his good ones. She just takes it moment to moment, as a kid would, which she is.
Magaña is playing Bertha pitch perfect; she's pro.
Also think about her character: she's the sister of the protagonist; pretty prominent in importance.
And Carlos is the son of the lead antagonist. Whereas Mina is not even pictured in the front credits, where both Carlos and Bertha are.
I have no idea what they have planned; I'm just saying it's the best chance for melodrama.
While she may not be aware of the nefarious extent of Adolfo's evil machinations, Bertha knows enough to be sufficiently forewarned. She aided and abetted the plan by luring Mario there. Well aware of the bad blood between Mario and Adolfo, she knew it was to hurt him somehow.
Mario welcomed her into his home, offering her love and a family. She has betrayed him. Period. I'm done. She and Carlos may have been suited months ago, but not now. He is contrite and genuinely so. She is an indulgent, self serving, selfish ingrate.
Elsa must live. I don't care if she is a main or secondary character. Overall, she is a kind, caring person who doesn't come close to deserving where she is - rotting in jail.
Part of her will probably always love JJ but I've no doubt her committment to Mauricio is true.
Carlos is of course still also hurting - his wounds with Bertha are still fresh. I would like to see him with Mina. I think if he does somehow end up with Bertha, it would ruin a great deal of the joy this show has brought me.
Forgive my rather emotional rant but I just had to vent!
We feel so strongly about these characters - those we love and those we don't! :)
Diana
Speaking of JJ, from his jailhouse visit with Elsa, I'd say their friendship is over.
Looking forward to tonight's show to see is JJ saved Fausto from falling. He was barely hanging onto the bannister.
Jeri, yes, there are lots of "stupid" twists and turns in novelas, but viewerville is usually in on the "sacrificial marriage" trick. In "Mi Pecado" we all knew that Lucrecia married horrible Carmelo to save Julian. We didn't begin to dislike her and think she was a selfish fool. The writers have an impossible task in rehabilitating Bertha. She cannot be brought back at this point, she has given Adolfo too much info. Either stupid or selfish, she is a very unsympathetic character.
Ulisis was wonderful in the prison scene and yes, Vivi, Elsa is in her anger mode. Uli did a wonderful job of talking her down, she felt better.
Ale handled the "lie" beautifully, she and JJ will be good together.
On the stairs, taking that long flight of stairs would depend on the type of shoes I had on! Ha!
Bertha is still convinced Gabriela is a gold digger and that David is stupid and duped. None of that is proof she would go along with having Mario murdered.
She let Adolfo entertain her with tales of how much wealth Mario has, but looked perplexed at why Adolfo wanted her to go and make up with him. She doesn't know why he wanted her to do that.
But I think when she called Mario she didn't really mind the idea of making up with him. She doesn't like being on the outs with Alejandra either and not telling her things she won't want to hear.
She's supposed to be maybe 19 or 20 I think, which is young. She was thrown onto her relatives by the death of her mother after her stupid father lost their fortune.
She probably takes after him. Bertha's upper class and thinks money is her due; whereas someone like Gabriela is a gold digger above her station.
Not pulling your chain, LOL. I would not do that. Juan José is the protagonist; Bertha isn't. We females are supposed to fall in love with the male protagonist.
I can't invest in the protagonist who is a dumba$$. I don't have to invest in Bertha that way and can view her more dispassionately.
Though I did laugh at that, I can't stand the sight of Dora anymore. She angers and frustrates me. Dora could have put Adolfo in jail years ago and instead she allowed him to be free to ruin JJ's life and the lives of countless others. I have no use for her at all.
Does Mexico have some kind of "Goons R Us" service that Adolfo calls to get a random henchman? Why did Adolfo use a phony Godfather voice to make that call (I'm assuming he was calling the hit man for "Mario")? Wouldn't he just have a stable of them on retainer? Maybe that's why he never seems to get a competent assassin, he's always trying to save a buck and calling the K-Mart of henchmen instead of the Macy's.
Newbie, to answer your question from a couple of days ago, no I am not from Peru. I took my screen name from the breed of horses I have which are Peruvians.
Ok, ok -- now let me ask a question: why would they have Carlos and Bertha fall in love if it were going nowhere?
The amount of melodramatic fallout from Bertha marrying Carlos's father has been microscopic, so it wasn't for that.
Discuss.
Sandy, on the Irish question -
yes, allegedly 100%, but I didn't look like anyone in my family; I used to say I got switched in the hospital; I am dark with olive skin and much taller than everyone else; I like to think my ancestors arrived in Ireland in 1588 with the Spanish Armada; Jeri gave me her email, so if you want, she can forward my emails from Guatemala to you. I' ll write at least once a week.
I thought the same as most of you about the disguise; if Faidella had been following David to see if he might have a clandestine meeting in the open park with his mother, he "never" would have guessed that was Dora.
Vivi, I think Bertha will come to
a bad end alone with her clothes as someone remarked the other day.
Diana, I LOVE Elsa.
Xlnt:
I took my screen name from the breed of horses I have which are Peruvians.
They must be beautiful! :)
Jeri, Teresa is a quite important telenovela in Mexico, and after all, both Mi pecado and En nombre del amor started at 6 pm on El canal del estrellas and became primetime shows in the US later.
Bertha is the mixture of naive, immature, rotten and selfish. She's the stupider version of Scarlett. She had no idea what Adolfo wanted to do in Mirador.
Mommy Ale was nice.
Ulises is our king. I want a friend like him.
Elsa is troubled since that tragic day when Marcos killed their stepfather and the imprisonment was the last straw. I could feel her pain and despair, I hope she gets out soon.
Now I'm going back to work on the recap.
Aribeth, I didn't say Teresa wasn't important; I'm only trying to figure what time slot they're going to schedule it. The promo I saw months ago was amazing.
Sandy, Bertha hasn't taken her flaws to new heights; she was always flawed from the first episode. And as I said yesterday, she's not using a ruse; it's just how things would turn out.
I can pose an answer to my question that I've discarded though: that Carlos's hurt served as a catalyst to turn him from the dark side.
But it didn't really; he was going there anyway, and Adolfo was the focus of a lifetime of abuse, not Bertha. On his way out of the condo, Carlos just said "well, have at it" to Bertha.
So not really worth a whole side plot of falling in love, IMO.
Carlos loves money too but if it came down to money or Yolanda, he'd choose Yolanda, Heck, if it came down to money or Adolfo, he would have chosen Adolfo. If Carlos was 100% about money he would have stayed in Adolfo's cage and continued to live the good life.
There is no redemption for Bertha now; only a comeuppance. I see a brown jumpsuit in her future.
Also regarding their marriage, I really can't believe that she's so naive as to think Adolfo only wants her company. If he doesn't want sex (as he has said), there is another motive involved (him pumping her for info and not being able to testify against him would be my first choices) but she's too blind by money to want to acknowledge it. I am really if it seems to good to be true something is amiss. To quote both of you she's dead to me and blech.
Jeri - Thanks for the discussion question. Currently no one knows they are married only that they are going to be married. And those who do interact with Adolfo are trying to imprison him (or possibly kill him). That being said, what type of fallout could their marriage have. Her family wrote her off when she went to live with him. She's just made it official now. I think the key reason for the marriage has been to expose Bertha being. Like Sandy and Anon 2:11, I don't see how she can be reformed. I think over these past few days Bertha keeps demonstrating her love of money is the driving force in her life and Carlos was just a pretty passing fancy.
Since both Llena de amor and TDA have approximately 500 episodes left, there's only one primetime timeslot for a new telenovela: 8 pm. So either they change the schedule and send Llena or TDA to afternoon, or Eva Luna will end in March and Teresa will be broadcasted at 8.
Marriage is no reason to start now, as Adolfo is interested in the legal aspect of it; to not die alone; to disinherit Carlos; and give his fortune to someone he thinks really likes him -- and he's correct. She does like him.
Jeri, "why would they have Carlos and Bertha fall in love if it were going nowhere?" If love is caring about someone at least as much as you care about yourself, then I believe only Carlos fell in love. Bertha is not capable of attaining (let along sustaining) such an unselfish emotion.
I wouldn't be so contemptuous if she had been lured by another's wealth and power. But, this was Carlos' FATHER! A cruel, abusive man beyond salvation. How she could have let Adolfo verbally abuse Carlos the night he came after her and not go running after him is beyond comprehension. Then, she marries Adolfo, a man who obviously hates her family as well as his own flesh and blood. No fallout because no one cares! They truly deserve each other!
I don't care if she is naive and/or stupid. I would be happily content to see her homeless and peniless, forced to actually (shudder) work for a living. :)
Hoo boy. That was exhausting!
I am enjoying how we are "seeing" the same people but interpreting them in entirely different ways! Already 31 comments!

Wow, xlntperuvian. The most comfortable horse I was ever on was a Tennessee Walking Horse. The Peruvians are gorgeous animals. Congratulations.
"The Peruvian Horse is the Rolls Royce of riding horses. They're naturally gaited and ultrasmooth. All you have to do is sit and enjoy their gentle, rocking ride."
Here is a link to Peruvians for other horse lovers:

Back ON Topic--About the e-mailing back and forth. It was too funny to see the Goon Squad so comfortable with and so knowledgable about computers.
Remember the days when viewerville suffered with miscommunications, where the lack of cell phones in a cell-phone loving era was laughable.
Could this be the first time in a tn where the e-mails are central to moving a story forward?
I want to think that Bertha's judgment is clouded by $$$ signs. I don't think she had a clue as to what Adolfo had in mind.
True, Ado kept tempting her with how much money they would have if Mario kicked the bucket before the contract was up, but I don't think she made the connection that this particular meeting was going to end in Mario's cliffhangar.
Vivi is probably right about Bertha making a run for it. It was the appearance of Ale that made her skeddadle.
Thanks to all the comments on who is a first-string protagonist, who is a second-string protagonist (same for antagonists) and how they will pair up or what their destinos are likely to be.
I can't figure out beginning credits to save my life, and not just in LVO. In LVO we have the 4 main actors and their photos, but not their characters names.
In others, like Harry/Leonardo or Elsa/Sylvia, they identify the actor, character and include a photo.
Others just have the actors' names scroll by without characters or photos. Then we have names of actors and their characters, but we don't see them for half the episodes.
Ah well, I guess it's up to each actor's agent to negotiate the prominence.
It's wonderful to see the actors identified as Primer Actor if they are older or have a substantial body of work behind them as does Julio Aleman does.
Newbie-OK
I look forward to reading the recaps when I get back to work on Tuesday. Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!
Diana
Bertha thinks Adolfo only wants her to be the nurse, helpmate, heir, nothing else. Of course, she conveniently forgets that he used her before (false testimony), but again, she isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. Despite of being a very malevolent, bitchy character, Bertha is awfully naive when it comes to her charming, rich benefactor.
You went on to say "Adolfo is interested in the legal aspect of it; to not die alone; to disinherit Carlos; and give his fortune to someone he thinks really likes him... I think you answered the question perfectly. I don't think he wants to introduce sex(or any other potentially volatile ingredient) into the relationship equasion that might undermine their friendls without benefits status.
Why do I intensely dislike Bertha? You answered my question "She does like him". That is enough to judge and convict her. :)
I'm really taking a hard stance on Bertha. I'm usually very kind toward most characters (despite their flaws), but she really got under my skin. It also irks me to see intelligent, kind, compassionate and caring women such as Mina passed over (a sad occurrence in the real world as well) for someone of Bertha's ilk.
I will get down off my soapbox. Thanks for listening.
Diana
A totally tongue-in-cheek rating of the good guys of LVO, least to best....
11. Carlos - I’d give him a better standing, but he just turned to the light, too early to judge!
10. Limon - He gets credit for pulling Cara out of a garbage bin and doing an inadequate, yet loving job of keeping her alive.
9. Chicles - The boy can think on his feet and he gets credit for stealing scenes at only 10 years old!
8. Abelardo - Takes on an 8 year old at 50 or so years old....a saint!
7: Leo - He is a good guy, but he hasn’t moved off of his tush to help Elsa.
6. JJ - I don’t care for him but he is one of the galans of the novela.
5. David - He’s great, but he hasn’t had an exciting story line.
4. Mauricio - He gives 110% then some.
3. Mario - Kind, loving old gentleman
2. Fausto - One of the best dads ever
1. Ulises - No explanation needed
Diana
You're too funny! Have a wonderful weekend. I totally agreed with ALL your comments on Bertha...see you on Monday!
Sandy
Chicles is adorable, but he's a potential goon, he lies, steals, manipulates and disobeys.
Great comments today. I am willing to hold my final judgement on Bertha a bit longer after reading Jeri's defense of her-- but just barely.
I remember thinking after watching Dinero for 100+ episodes, knowing the galan's father had abandoned their family and left them to their luck years before, that there was NO WAY this guy could be redeemed. But one episode and a few teary scenes were enough to get me totally on board with the guy and hoping his family would forgive him. Writers can do wonderous things. :)
Your thoughts on Leo are logical, but I want him to be a Superman and "leap tall buildings with a single bound" and FREE ELSA!
Yeah, I understand that, and I'm sure if Juli or Gaby (or David or JJ) were in jail, Leo would act like Superman. Elsa isn't his friend, he doesn't care for her. Since he has tremendous amount of work to do, he concentrates on the main goal, and after arresting Adolfo and proving his connection with Édgar it'll be easier to help Elsa.
Though I hope Elsa won't spend the next 12 episodes in jail.
--------------------------
1) to show that Bertha loves money more than she loves Carlos
and
2) I suspect to show the personal growth & development of Carlos: once Adolfo's gone, will Carlos take Bertha back? Someone who loves money more than him? Because that's part of Carlos' issue with Adolfo...Adolfo never loved him, and money was always more important than Carlos. Bertha has clearly shown that money is more important than Carlos. Will he go back to that or will he break free?
Have to say his hair and the back of his head looked super at the jail. Guess he's still got it.
Vivi, maybe it's not been that clear, but I'm not a particular fan of Bertha. I like the logical patterns in a show that point out the meaning. A badly written show is really frustrating, not having logic or meaning.
As far as liking someone, I like Carlos. If what he wants is Bertha, then they have made a case for that and it makes sense to me; and I would want him to be happy.
LOL Xlnt, "Goons R us" and "trying to save a buck by calling the the Kmart of henchmen instead of the Macy's." I don't understand the altered voice in his call as well unless he's well over his monthly limit of assassin minutes and was trying to fool the service.
GinCA
GinCA
But Bertha already gave her reasons: she loves Carlos, but they can't live on love, and she doesn't want somebody else to get Carlos's inheritance. Carlos was included in her thought processes. She's not altruistic, but she is practical.
And Carlos loves money, too; he said so, and he's his father's son. That's why I think he's supposed to understand Bertha. If he does what you propose and suddenly doesn't care about money, that would be out of character, IMO.
Proponents of Mina/Carlos, question: now everybody knows I like Mina. But why would this be a satisfying pairing? It resolves nothing; they have no issues and no drama. That would be ok for lesser characters, but not Carlos, I'm thinking.
One purpose of the writers re Bertha could be simply to tease the audience as is being done now;
will she reform or not? similar to the letter - will it be found or not? just another little gimmick
to play with the audience
What was Fausta/Mario thinking?
I'm beginning to think He has a brain tumor. Early on in the deceit, he wanted all the curtains
closed in his office so as to avoid
detection. Now he's shuffling off to Buffalo in broad daylight meeting with an arm of the enemy whom he has never liked or trusted. And logically, he could have avoided the stairs; the tumor would have been an excellent exuse to take the elevator. Furthermore, he knows that Adolfo is gunning for Fausto and he heads off for the meeting without notifying anyone.
And it's a joke that the gang is
keeping Fausto "secure" at Casa Genovés when everyone knows there
is no security whatesover at that house.
Thanks to all for the well wishes.
I'll close off now to finish packing.
To answer your last question, my simple answer is, I like Carlos and want good things for him. I like Mina and want good things for her. I don't like Bertha and I want her to be left with nothing and no one. It's as simple as that. The writers probably won't listen to me, but oh well.
Vivi, Bertha's always been pretty awful; so to be honest, I was really surprised when first she got on like gangbusters with Adolfo -- and then his son fell in love with her!
I guess I'm not seeing what purpose it would serve to have Bertha hanging out to dry. I always get wound up like this with story logic, which is futile usually.
GinCA

Very Creative, well written,
extremely amusing, and as referenced below, realistic, insensitive, inhumane, and terribly sad as Ulises recounted his own
background's plotline.
"When his father found out he was gay he kicked him out of the house. He had to bear others’ insults all his life, and people like Édgar took advantage of his loneliness."
GinCA
Now I have information overload with everything that I missed, lol. Elsa still in jail, Susana is really dead, Gabi pregnant, Caramelo with Abelardo, Bertha really did get married to Adolfo. I will need some time to process everything, lol.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to Jeri and Aribeth for the recaps of these episodes.
Read every single brilliant comment. I must say when LVO finishes I am going to miss this blog.
Loved the screencap of 'Mario's' face while he was hanging over the rail. Such a look of horror. I actually felt scared by that look.
Bertha ran because she didn't want to face Ale. Bertha knows she is doing 'bad' things to help Adolfo and doesn't want Ale to reminding her again that she is stupid, etc.
