Triunfo del Amor #49-50 3/8/11 Max is the Most Miserable Man in el Mundo; I'm Done with Victoria

Hola guys! It's been awhile. I won't delay.

• Max tells Maria that Ximena is pregnant with his child. She wants him to tell her that's not true. It is [NOT!]. She asks how it could be. Max doesn't know what to say; it is pretty ridiculous in truth. Maria can't believe he betrayed her love; she never wants to see him again.

•Bernie and JP talk at church. Bernie's there to confess to the other padre. JP assures her that she'll find peace that way. She assures him that she always has peace of mind. She invites him and the other priest for dinner.

• Maria says Max always lied to her. She doesn't know how to trust him and never wants to see him. He pulls her and tells her he won't lose her. He doesn't love Ximena. She asks what he'll do with his child. Max will give the child his name, but he loves Maria and will not marry Ximena. It's SO easy for you men, Maria says. Can he even think of how much pain she feels? All Max knows is that he loves her and won't lose her.

•Linda says Maria having Max's kid is the best thing that coulda happened to Maria. She's got Max fo sho now. Nati tells her it's not about money; a child is a blessing. Blah blah blah. Linda wonders if Max will stick by her side. Nati is convinced he will marry her.

• Maria doesn't want to lose Max, but she won't let the child suffer because of her. What about us and our happiness, Max asks. Why should we suffer because of a mistake? It was YOUR mistake, Maria says. YOUR choice. Max says he won't justify his actions. He asks if she can forgive him. She can't. She cries. She leaves.

• Maria passes a kid on the street. She sits on a bench crying.

• Osvaldo walks into the house, and Vicki sternly tells him they need to talk. He doesn't like her tone and is not in the mood. It's about Max. Another one of her obsessions, Os remarks. She tells him Max is in love with Maria but can't be with her. Os demands to know why not. She tells him to ask Max for an explanation.

• Max tells Fabian that he feels like the most miserable person in the world. Fab tells him to tell Maria what happened. Max doesn't know how to.

• JP asks the other Padre why he doesn't want to have dinner at Bernie's place. Cause she's freakin psycho is apparently inappropriate for a priest to say. Padre agrees.

• Victoria sits Max down and tells him that he's confused. Maria's pretty and all--Max doesn't want to hear this. He loves Maria; what part of that does Vicki not understand? It's his life. Vicki thinks he's giving up too much for Maria. Max says nothing is his; the business is Victoria's. She's the boss. She says everything is for Max and Fer. Max tells her he's just an employee. This is different from work; Max ain't gonna let her intervene in his happiness.

• Maria tells JP that she's pregnant.

• Vicki tells Max he's disillusioned just like his daddy. Max is proud to be like his father, and if Victoria was his real mother, she'd care for his feelings.

• Maria gives the maternal talk to JP. She knows for him it's a child of sin, but she's happy. He hopes that God blesses her. They hug.

• Victoria changes the topic to Ximena. Max already looks disgusted. He's beyond annoyed when he finds out Ximena told Victoria about the child. Vicki thinks he's being a typical guy. Max doesn't want the news to spread. He doesn't want to know about Ximena, he says as he leaves the room.

• JP asks God to forgive Maria and all the gals like her. He feels like he's Maria's real dad.

• Victoria claims MD is an ingrate and owes all she is to Victoria. Remember when she sold me her soul, Antonienta? Oh yeh, how could I forget. No, Antonieta tells her it was obvious that Max and MD were together. Vicki doesn't care. She's going to destroy Maria. She just wants Max for his money. Antonieta gives Max a bit more credit--just a bit. She says he's HOT, and many girls would love him not for his wealth. Victoria is convinced otherwise.

• Domingo talks to JP at the speed of lightening. FWD. They play games. JP thinks how happy Max will be when he finds out Maria's pregnant.

• Max goes back to his office and Ximena is in his desk. Fab leaves to give them a second alone. He tells Ximena that he ain't marrying her. She responds how you thought she would. Denial. She screams. He screams. She faints. Max shouts for Fabian to help.

• Doctor says Ximena's fine. Just fainted. Totally normal. Ximena's mom gets annoyed cause Max says he's got stuff to do since Ximena's fine. He leaves anyways.

• Maria's crying in her bed. Linda asks why she didn't tell Max that she's pregnant? Cause he broke her heart. She thinks she was just a fun ride for Max. Nati believes that he loves her. Maria doesn't think so. Ximena is from his world, and Maria is just an orphan desamparada. The baby's gonna be Maria's world now.

• Doorbell rings and Linda jumps for it. It's Max. She tries to get rid of him, but Max ain't takin that crappp. He demands to talk to Maria.

• Maria tells Nati she's going to find work to support her kid. Linda tells Maria Max is waiting for her. Maria steps in the living room to speak to him. Max tells her that he came to tell her that he loves her again.  He can't be without her. She cries. He begs her not to cry; he'd do anything to prevent her from having this pain. Well, you didn't, Maria says, and now we've lost each other. Max doesn't think they have. He loves her and will fight for her. He kisses her, and she pulls away, crying about how she doesn't know why she believes him. It's clear that he just wanted an affair. The son of the boss has an affair with the model. [Yep, we've all heard that one.] Max denies it. Maria thinks it's obvious. Now that it's time for Max to marry his formal fiance, he's trying to keep Maria at the side. No, no, no, she's not going to have it. Max looks bewildered by her words.

• Antonieta looks for Max but finds Fabian. They talk Max and MD. Fab tries to convince her that Max loves Maria. It all started as fun and games, but he loves her. Antonieta asks what'll become of Ximena and her child. Fab says he has no idea, and from his smile, i don't think he cares.

• Max says he NEVER asked Maria to be his lover. He loves her. He doesn't love Ximena. He explains Ximena's plan and what happened. Drunk  + jealous  = Fail. He explains Ximena's dress; he knows it's ridiculous. He loves her and wants her to believe him. He cries. She says she wants to believe him, but she doesn't want him to give her false hope. He tells her to trust him. She agrees, and they embrace. [Cielo cried.] He promises that they'll be talkin marriage next time they meet.

• Max is at Ximena's place. Xi's mom gives Max hell for abandoning Ximena. Max laughs when he realizes Ximena told Roxanne about the pregnancy too. Roxy demands that Max marry Ximena not just support the kid.

• Bernie creepily asks the maid (damn forgot her name again) what to do when one is poisoned or something. Apparently, she's a nurse. Idk. Sorry, missed it.

• Max is in his room, in a really Hamlet-style pose. Very thoughtful. Osvaldo comes in to talk. He tells him that he defended Max to Victoria. Max thanks him. Os then defends Victoria's 'protection' of Max...blah blah. Os will support Max, but he wants to know everything.

• Bernie n the maid. Someone plz fill in.

• Os compliments Maria's great character and purity, but he wants to know why Vicki is so against this union. She kept saying ask Max. Max tells daddy Ximena is pregnant with Max's child. Dat changes e'rythang for Os.

• Ximena cries to Vicki for help and support. Max doesn't want to be with her. Boo hoo.

• Os is yellin and talkin HELLA fast. Max isn't going to be irresponsible. He's going to accept the consequences of his actions. Max says he will not marry Ximena. Os leaves him with guilty words: for a child, sacrifice everything.

• Maria Mag is telling Antonieta that she has no memories of her mom. She remembers a doll. Antonieta gets excited. Tries to hug her amd baby her. MM doesn't care; her mother abandoned her and wasn't decent according to Bernie and Padilla. Antonieta tells her about the search for little Maria all these years.

• awkward dinner at Bernie's house. Bernie thinks God is there to punish; JP believes He's there to love. Padre talks about forgivness. JP catches onto the code talk and asks if Bernie confessed something strange to padre. Bernie denies havin any sins.

• Os tells Vicki about his convo with Max. Give Max time, he says. Time is what Ximena lacks, answers Vicki. She thinks Max needs to marry Ximena asap. Max loves Maria Desamparada, Os says. MD don't know me, Vicki answers back.

• Fer plans on sneaking out, but Cruz warns her against it. He doesn't want to see her hurt again. Flirting. Blah blah. Cruz dances.

• Luci tells Vicki Maria's there to see her. Vicki doesn't want to be disturbed while MD is in her office. Maria enters, and Victoria goes on about how Maria could have the guts to go after Vicki's son. She calls her a gold digger, bashes her, and fires her.

Cue the kayak.

Feel free to add/correct!

Novela Maven, loved your Tale of Three Cities! :)

Thanks for the update, Cielo de Levy.

Vic is a hypocrite (big surprise there). She won't even publicly acknowledge Maria Mag as her daughter????? What about all that time as "MI HIJAAAAAAAAA"? It doesn't matter that MM isn't, Vic thinks she is. I'm really over Vic - I don't see any reason why viewers should like her at all. What a martyr.

When Vic was speaking to her assistant, she asked her "What is the secret to her being happy?" I couldn't understand how the asst answered. What did she say?

I also liked the later tie-in to Max, when he told Vic that he doesn't want to be like her b/c she really isn't happy.

I think this is the fourth time Maria thought Max had lied to her. So no wonder she's going on her own.

And Juanjo! *shakes head* ...so disappointing. "Why are you crying? And uh, where is Nathy & Linda?" Maybe now is the time to get your mom? To comfort MD? (not to yell at Linda?)

Jimena is really good at throwing tantrums to get her way.

Will JP tell Max that Maria esta embarazada? Let's hope so. How many capitulos will that take? How will Max find out? Will Cruz tell him? or Juanjo? ...who else might let the cat out of the bag?

Is Maria she still employed as a model?

Anyone else notice Fausto's face when St Bernarda freaked out over the fire? You can see his mind ticking over how fun it will be to use fire to get his revenge!

Is Gui jealous over Jimena? What a turn around that would be.

@Mariquita

..i tell u...its gonna be ages till Max finds out that maria d is pregnant!!! that upsets me too... (i already watched this seriel in spanish, so, im kinda ahead..)

Cielo-Thank you for a wonderful recap. Huge thanks for the bulleted list. (Now I won't feel so guilty tonight when I write my recap. *grin*) I'll be saying this all week, but many thanks to all the recappers for the double duty this week.

BTW-Burnie was asking Eva how to kill someone without leaving any trace.

Mariquita- I can't remember the dialogue exactly, but Luci talked about having someone to love who loved her back. I wanna say there was a comment along the lines of I just choose to be happy. I thought that bit was a bit random. ITA about Max going off on Vic and her philosophy about social class. We know where Fer gets it now.

I really hope it's JP who lets it slip that Maria is preggers. He was sooo certain Max was gonna marry Maria. I predict that enough time will pass and another male will enter the picture and Max won't believe the child is his. DNA will never be mentioned.

Ji/Xi-mena is a spoiled brat. For a little while I thought Max was gonna be strong and not marry her. But then Hypocrite Pimp Daddy Os made the (butt)crack about sacrificing for your kids. Wonder if he and Vic realize that means sacrificing your time, too. Fer would have turned out better if they had spent a little time with her.

Speaking of Fer--I thought it was adorable how Cruz was guarding her from sneaking out. He is such a doll!

I *loved* Fausto's face when he was picking up the flaming rag. And him stomping it? Symbolism much? "Hey Burnie, see this flaming rag? I'm gonna squash you just like this rag!"

I seriously doubt Gui is jealous. He's just mad that Ji/Xi isn't at his beck and call. He wants control.

They seem to be making a big deal about selling Os's shares of the Casa de Modas. I bet there will be another character introduced. My first thought was perhaps Leonela Montenegro would buy the shares and wreak havoc. But then I remembered she was in prison and I'm pretty sure you don't get rich sitting in a Mexican jail.

I'm not looking forward to my recap tonight. Judging from the Avances, I will be dealing with another Burnie murder.

PS: A little more detail on Burnie/Eva convo--she was implying that Eva would know some sort of poison. Eva said she did know of way/method.

Cielo~~~Thanks. I only catch bits and pieces of this show, so I appreciate the recaps. I'm frustrated with so many of the characters. Watching so many nasty, selfish, clueless people is wearing on the soul. Assvaldo living in his glass casa shouldn't be giving moral lessons to anyone...pot/kettle. Basta. Follow the yellow brick road , folks. Ask for 1] a heart 2] a brain 3] courage 4] all of the above

Cielo: Thank you! Like you, the scene in Maria E's apartment was quite touching. Maximiliano was believable which is what made it so confusing for Maria E. She is angry and hurt beyond belief, but there is a little spark that wants to believe him.

St. Bernard and Eva conversation was quite interesting, really. I thought Eva handled it well. St. Bernard was watching Eva set a beautiful table (even I was impressed!). It became a little worrisome when St. Bernard said to Eva that she had so many skills...nurse, excellent housemaid, and one other which I thought was important, but which I don't remember. At that point, St. Bernard said that she really didn't know much about Eva's background, but that it was definitely time for her to find out. Eva's reply was that her reputation was untarnished and that there were (essentially) no skeleton's in her closet.

That must have satisfied the always self satisfied St. Bernard, for then she immediately jumped to the question of how a person could be killed (I am almost sure she ask about injections).

That was a stunner for me as it was a departure from St. Bernard's modus operandi and it implied that she had a huge amount of trust in Eva to even ask the question. This...after just having stated to Eva that she would have to investigate her background! Mon Dieu!

Eva...with that Cheshire Cat smile of hers...took it all in stride. Excellent scene!

The dinner scene was also informative in that it showed Padre Jer still in considerable discomfort with St. Bernard's confession. In fact, Padre Jer did not want to go to that dinner. He tried to beg off twice, but caved when JP asked him if his dahling Madre had somehow offended him. Padre Jer had no choice.

That JP...who usually has his head in the clouds...even caught the underlying meaning of the conversation between St. Bernard and Padre Jer at the dinner table was pretty amazing.

I walked away from the whole crying scene between Maria M and Victoria. Basta!

Xi/Ji-mena's mother needs to get her teeth cleaned. I'm not for the brilliant whites which can look a tad odd, but those teeth need some serious help.

That piece of Basura Xi/J-mena is one good faker, isn't she? She has faked her way to getting what she wants.

What she can't predict is how sadistic and controlling Gui will respond. She has not seen the last of him, yet.

I have not liked too much of Fony Fer, but I think her eyes were opened at the breakfast table when Max walked away from his mother after telling her in disgust that she had already forced him to marry the X Factor, now she should just leave him alone. You'd better start paying attention Fer!

I've said before that Romo has never been a fave of mine, but I will give her this: She has brought consistency to her character and shows us a little something different about her each time. That...I like.

Susanita

What got me about last night's episode is when Victoria flashed back to Bernarda's cruelty toward her it never occurred to her that she is treating Maria D exactly the same way.

Another thing I don't get is why Max didn't tell Maria about Ximena's deception as the build-up to the disclosure of her pregnancy. Both of them know how calculating she is and I think both of them realize on some level that she is certifiable.

I love how Max called Victoria on her snobbery about Maria D.

Now that Maria is no longer employed at Victoria's place, it will be a while before Max knows she is pregnant.

Someone raised the issue of unwed mothers in a previous discussion and it was too late to comment. I remember when Adal Ramones hosted Los Reyes de la Pista a few years ago he cited the embarrassing fact that Mexico leads Latin America in unwed mothers, including ones under 18 whose pregnancies are attributable to men over 21.

Dinner at Bernarda's: Padre Jeronimo probably felt like Claudius did when Livia invited him to dine with her. Remember how Herod Agrippa told him "I'd take my own wine with me if I were you."? The good padre must have been relieved to make it out of there alive, considering what he now knows.

Thank You Cielo !!!

At the end of the show, did Max tell Maria that he WAS going to marry X/Ji afterall? If so, what a jerk. That whole scene confused me.

Thanks for the recap, CdL, and the bulleted style. I watched again in real time and missed parts of the conversation.

I hope that was a black bikini or thong undies LindaSkankHo had on under her pink dress, when she was walking down the street (talking w/Nati?), or the censors were asleep at the wheel. Yeesh! Sometimes I wish I still had my 13" screen low-definition TV......

I am sooo done with everyone except Cruz & FerBeast.

Could MM be a long lost daughter of Leonela? (no spoilers please)

Thanks Cielo! Poor Maria D. What an emotional roller-coaster these two episodes! First happily expecting to tell Max about their baby; then heart broken by the news he cheated and impregnated another; then letting go of her pride and letting herself trust Max; then completely shattered when HE decides to end things and marry Jimena.

Anon- Yes. After Jimena's 2nd fainting spell, the talk from dad, the pressure from mom, the pressure from future step mom, and then the doc saying that as the baby-daddy his job is to care for and pamper the mother-to-be, he caves and decides to marry Jimena and dump Maria. I was so proud of him when he kept fighting the power during the first episode, but you could see the cracks by the second episode. Arrrggg! In STUD, JM never gave in to the "you have to marry her" crap. I wish Max had stuck to his guns like that.

Doris- I'm pretty sure MM is the long lost daughter of Lenora (who is not Lionela) who is currently working with Padre JP's band of merry male orphans in their furniture making business. This is not a spolier. It just seems the most likely scenario to me.

UA: Yes!! Claudius listening to Herod Agrippa! Perfect analogy. :))

Max: Oh yes...he was a disappointing/ed mess when he decided to marry the X Factor (Ximena). I was so happy when he was withstanding all of the pressure, but the X Factor and her faking got the best of everybody.

I ask you...since when does a doctor tell a man that he has to 'pamper' his wife/girlfriend (except our Carlos, of course).??!!

Stupid, stupid Max caved to that statement...AND...all of these people...knowing FULL WELL that the X Factor has lied before don't even bother to check her story.

I hope Sadistic Gui makes the X Factor's life miserable throughout this pregnancy.

As for Victoria...oh my yes...she is going to be knocked off her high horse and it is going to be a long fall.

Imagine...rooting against the protagonista!!!

Susanita

Thanks for the excellent, snappy resumé, Cielo! These doubles are killers, aren't they? (Glad you enjoyed 'A Tale of Three Cities')

One point to add:
When María M slips out of Toni's apartment and goes to the park, Bernie finds her and asks her about her past. María M tells her she remembers ANOTHER MARIA who was found wandering in the street because the nuns used to repeat the story over and over. (Remember that as soon as María said she was left near some train tracks, Bernie knew she wasn't the one.)

Then Bernie hotfoots it over to the orphanage to question Sor Clementina. She remembers clearly: the OTHER MARIA is María Desamparada! So now Bernie knows or strongly suspects who the real daughter of JP and Vic is!

Susanita, Bernarda says she's impressed with Eva's sewing and cooking skills, but most importantly, her nursing knowledge. (I guess Bernie thinks nurses are trained killers.)

Urban, Thanks for yesterday's explanation of the fire motif in EPDA. It was much less prominent there, apparently.

BTW, did anyone else notice that the hot potato (If you play with fire, you'll get burned) was passed to Fabían last night? He said to Max something like: You were playing with fire; tarde o temprano you were going to get burned.

NovelaMaven - and yet another 'fire' reference (playing with fire)? Perhaps Meh-jia was inspired by his FELS title and obsessed with fire. Actually, in FELS, didn't Gabi set fire to something, too?

I know that the ages make no sense, but since Maria M and Maria D are about the same age- found at the same time when both were around age 2- why does Maria M. have so much more time on the streets than Maria D? When Maria M was telling Vick her hard luck sob story about how she ended up being a prostitute, she made it seem that she's been living this life for a long time. But Maria D only just left the orphanage. Did Maria M leave the orphange early for some reason? Why would the nuns let her? Why didn't they do more to help her when they saw she had turned to prostitution? Would they have just sat back like that had Maria D turned into a hooker as soon as she left the orphanage?

Why does Maria D keep harping about how hard life has been when she grew up safe and sound in a pretty nice orphange with really nice (although careless) nuns? Then she got an easy job, her dream job as a model, right after leaving there. Her hardship is only really starting now- brokenhearted, broke (shouldn't have given those paychecks to the Padre), jobless, and pregnant.

Doris, I can't exactly remember about Gabi in FELS, but probably.

The thing about Fabián referring to fire is the repetition of the cliché -- Don't play with fire cuz you might get burned -- in some variant or other by several people:
Nathy has said it to Linda, I think.
Napo has said it to Cruz.
Now Fabián says it to Max.

It started before I began counting so I'm pretty sure I missed a few. It seems to be an inside joke on the part of the writers.

Vivi, good point about the two Marías and how far MM has fallen in what must have been a short time unless she left the orphanage early (Which she might have done. As nice as the nuns are, it was still an institution and probably felt like a prison at times to a young, ignorant and normally rebellious adolescent who had no idea of what awaited her on the outside.)

Cielo excellent job as always thanks for the wonderful recap.

What adult throws a tantrum like Vitoria did just to get her own way?I agree with pimp daddy Os the way she talks to people she needs a serious taking down. I'm rooting for Burnie to do this i know it'll be nasty but quite frankly Victoria deserves it.She doesn't even see how just like Burnie she is with Maria E. now it doesn't penetrate her small minded brain. Where does she get off calling Maria E. a social climber was she one when she met Os? Probably this is why she wants to label Maria E. in this light.

Max oh boy what a mess but he did try to stand up towards the opposition at first.I thought he had told Victoria when she was trying to convince him to marry the conniving horror from hell Jimena he told after he found out Jimena told her about being pregnant go right ahead announce it to everyone put it in the papers i will not marry Jimena.

Susanita you caught Roxana's teeth too huh? I was like use some teeth whitening at least blech.

Urban i thought Max told her when he went to see Maria E. at the apartment he did tell her what had happened that night in Miami he got jealous and drunk and Jimena got in his room and he thought it was her.

Vivi i got one better than JM from STUD. Max should have used the Gabino Roura method taken her down to the hospital and determined for real how long she has been pregnant. He knows what a liar she is and now he sees for himself no matter how many times he kept telling her he doesn't love her and to leave him alone how crazy she is by not listening to him. What gets me unless he has Superman's sperm or Bionic sperm there's no way he could have gotten her pregnant that fast.

NovelaMaven: yes...it was Eva's sewing skills. Thank you for reminding us of the conversation between St. Bernard and Maria M. Hasn't Maria M made the point several times that she was left at the RR tracks to both Victoria and Toni? Of course, the only one smart enough to pick up on this is St. Bernard.

Vivi: agree with you re Maria E always focusing on her 'hard' life. The thing that has really upset her is that she feels that her parents didn't want her. That is what's bothering her...not her hard life...so why not just come out and SAY It?!

I missed UA's review of the fire theme yesterday. I have to go back and find that!!

Susanita

Blusam: ITA! Those teeth of Roxie's are in serious need of something. Her speech always seems garbled...like she swallows the words. She sounds like someone who has smoked a lot which is probably why she has those nasty teeth!! These actors need to see what they REALLY look like in HD! LOL!

Also ITA that Maximiliano must have Super Sperm! That was the fastest impregnation I have ever seen!!

I really laughed though when Pimp Daddy Oz came walking in the house to find Victoria emerging from the shadows and he told her he was in no mood for her tone of voice or her complaints.

For the briefest of moments, I was rooting for Pimp Daddy.

Victoria's downfall cannot come soon enough.

Susanita

Susanita so was i my back gets up in the same way when anyone talks to me like she was doing to Os last night. He called it right Max is another obsession for her. Really at this point i wanted him to go and spring Max's real mother from jail how worst can she be than Victoria? Sure she killed someone but i think we can overlook that at this point.Victoria is toxic now we know why the Ferbeast has turned out that way.I like how he told her off briefly and then he also had another good moment after Max finally gave in to the emotional blackmail from everyone. She wanted to have this big extravagant wedding with all the thrills and church and Max told her no way. Then she tried to talk him into it and he got up and told her she gotten her way with his marriage now to leave in him in peace.Pimp Daddy Os agreed with Max and ask Victoria is she happy now truly happy after seeing how Max is and the truth he doesn't love Jimena?

Sara i thinking those shares Os is selling off will come back and bite Victoria in the behind with her precious company.

Blusam: ITA with EVERY little thing you have said! You noticed how, for the first time, Fer was actually watching that dynamic between Victoria, Max, and Oz? It was as if a little veil had been lifted from her eyes. We'll see how long it will last.

Susanita

Thanks for your recap CdL. Like you, I have had it with Victoria. I know they are trying to follow the previous TN but it really doesn't make sense how cruel she is to a young woman who is an orphan around the age of her missing daughter.

I don't remember being so ready for the Victoria character to be taken off her "moral" high horse. It seems the writers are almost attempting to make Victoria and Bernie equivalent, which is bizarre since one is supposed to the protagonist and the other the antagonist.

And thanks so much NovelaMaven for your recap, vocab, and snark from yesterday.

I'm not sure how they could ever make the Vicky character sympathetic in ANY of the multiple versions of this story. She always turns against an innocent young woman who she knows is in the same situation as her missing daughter. How could she ever look like the good guy? That's the point, isn't it? She's supposed to have turned into a version of the person she most despises (Bernie), which will eventually play into her redemption. The big difference between her and Bernie is that Bernie is a murderer, and Vicky is not. So they should not be judged the same by the audience, or in the eyes of God.

Cielo de Levy, thank you for doing this terrific recap with your busy schedule.

Okay, let me get this straight, if Os gets LindaHo pregnant, does that mean that he gives up Vicki just like he tells Max to give up Maria for BSC Jimena?

Second puzzlement, if they took BSC Jimena to hospital/clinic with the fainting spell, why in the world didn't Max ask the good doctor just exactly how pg she was? Perfect opportunity but I guess that would make too much sense.

I cannot believe I am saying this but I hope Gui drives Jimena crazy and something happens to both of them.

Rosemary

Susanita you are so right the Ferbeast was absorbing everything at the family dinner table but the difference though is the Ferbeast is what 17 years old while Max is a grown man not a teenager.

Vivi you're right the Helena Rojo role was imo just played better at least for me. Great point how Victoria has morphed into Burnie but it's just not just Maria E. she treats badly but her employees and competitors also. Probably she kept it in all that she suffered at Bernarda's and Padilla all of these years instead of seeking professional help. She probably thought talking to Toni was good enough for herself obvious by the way she acts it wasn't enough.

Rosemary great point if Os makes Linda Ho' pregnant then by his logic he has to do the right thing and marry her. Not a lot of braincells are functioning correctly in that family is it?

Evan Val in STUD, when she was in E-Val mode, was fair to her workers-- she paid them fair wages and paid for their kids to be schooled (so that they didn't have to be peons). Sure she was cold, but she was fair. I never understood why they hated her so much. Meanwhile Vicky treats her staff like they belong to her. Didn't we see her get mad at a model for getting pregnant in the beginnng? Yet, everyone respects and worships her- except her family.

Vivi i'm chalking that up to inconsistent writing there's no way any employee would worship or fawn over a boss like Victoria. Even Toni who tries to be her voice of reason on her out of control behavior can't manage to get through to this control freak. Max even pointed out to her about her dirty little tricks with her competitors is bad business nothing gets through her thick stubborn skull.

So it's going to take her losing her status as a loved wife and mother and successful business woman to make her come to her senses.

Cielo, thanks for the recap. Max could leave the domination of his family, go out on his own making those "no lo soporto" t-shirts.
I was so disgusted with Vicki and her vicious tirade against MariaD. She was slamming our dewy-eyed heroine for the same kind of background Vicki herself had. Stupid.

Bernie, Eva, and Fausto are turning into a regular hotbed of evil fun. I didn't care much for Romo as the befuddled mother in Sortilegio, but am really enjoying her take on the obsessively wicked Bernie. She's not just bad (like Padilla,) she's smart enough to pick up on MariaD as the most likely to be the real daughter.
La Paloma

I was under the impression that María D quit her job, not that she was fired. María made some reference to money not being everything & Max also said that to Victoria later.

Bernarda was admiring the beautiful table that Eva set & that she had so many skills & asked where she learned all those things.

Vicky has the doll that María D had as a child, I'm sure to be discovered by María in capitulo 143.

The bombero that died & the wife must fit in in some future plot, right now they seem so unnecessary. Maybe we have a shortage of females for the guys.

I understood Victoria to tell María D that she wasn't worth anything, anyone else hear that?

I see María D starting some business, being successful & turning into her mother. Maybe she'll get Osvaldo's shares. I like that idea.

Vario- I think Vicky fired her and then Maria said you can't fire me because I quit. So it was both things.

LOL about the doll being discovered in cap 143. I also admire Bernie's smarts. She's the only one who has not only thought about getting a DNA test done, but actually went through with it! She goes directly to the nuns and ASKS questions in order to get the facts. Maria M actually keeps leaving out the detail of the railway tracks when she speaks to Vicky and Toni, so they don't know about it. I think also that Maria M had her doll with her when she was found, while Maria D lost hers (which Vicky has). But for someone who for years kept going back to the scene of the crime to ask questions, it's strange that when Maria M came on the scene, Vicky didn't badger the nuns for every single detail about when they found her.

Variopinta what Victoria said to Maria E. was that she was a social climber and she only after Max for his money and his social status. Ironic is that the one who is the social climber and really is after Max for his money is her daughter in law of choice.Maria of course denied this but we see how Victoria doesn't listen to anyone when her mind is set. Victoria did fire her but Maria E. took off her id badge an d slammed onto Victoria's table telling her she doesn't want to be with Max for what he can give her but that she is in love with him. She doesn't need his money or position in society. Then she left after saying all of that.

I know everyone has already expressed how vile Victoria is,but I just gotta get my two cents in.

I really don't get how she can go ON and ON about Maria D. not being from the right class. Wasn't she a servant when she got preggers? And then she married Osvaldo a WEEK after meeting him, which sounds a lot more shady than Maria dating Max for several months, and then them getting engaged. There really is not logical reason for her false and mean judgement.

Also, I may be alone on this but for some reason I'm having trouble hating LindaHo as much as I used to. I guess in contrast to Victoria she is just so much nicer, and although her head may be in the wrong place she does seem to be a good friend to Maria D. I'm not a fan of women that chase married men, but I guess for now Victoria is soaking up all my character dislike. I wish Natie would shut it with the "poor JuanJo" for a second. We get it. You like him and Linda played with him. Get with it honey. Men do that crap Alllll the time.

Vivi while I agree with you that they have made Victoria into a version of Bernie to show their difference, she's so nasty here. In EPDA, Helen Rojo's character wasn't perfect but she wasn't awful to her employees, competitors, and family members as Blusamari noted. Perhaps this is Mejia's way (completely over the top).

I would say Alicia Sophia that's exactly why most of us are riled up about Victoria is that she is a hypocrite. She was a servant in Bernarda's house she was a innocent and slept with JP because she had a crush and was in love with him. Bernarda when she found out she was pregnant by her son had a enraged fit accusing her of seducing JP and going after him because he a family that had social status and wealth.

Sounds familiar doesn't it but Victoria like you pointed out doesn't want to acknowledge the similarities between the two of them. Both without parents or the status to be accepted so quickly into the social level of the men of their choice. Funny how Victoria overlooks how quickly she got married to Os seems like maybe she was the one doing the social climbing herself.

Right now whatever LindaHo' does with Os i have no problem with but the girl does need to straighten out her priorities though.Quite frankly i don't really see why Os is so in love with Victoria even he has been pointing out to her about her attitude and the way she talks and her obsessions. Doesn't really sound like a match made in heaven.

Alicia Sophia-I'm also having trouble hating LindaHo as much. I beginning to see her more as a victim. But not as victimized as say, Victoria (with whom I don not sympathize AT ALL.) LindaHo strikes me as more like she's had a tough life and has built some emotional armor. I don't believe for a second she actually loves Pimp Daddy Os (PDO)...she loves his cash. That is sort of sad to me.

Vivi-excellent points about Val. I've had the same thoughts while watching this.

Variopinta-I love your suggestions! I would love for Maria Embarazada to get the shares.

Did anyone else notice that even in the apartment they refer to Maria with her "full" name? When Max came to call, Linda came in and said "Maria Desamparada, Max is here for you." funny.

I wish Max had channeled JM and stood his ground. And to think JM was a seminary drop out...and HE felt no obligation to Ivana.

Since NovelaMaven likes the lists so much, I feel compelled to compose one now:

The top 10 moments of the last four hours (In no particular order):
1. Ji/Xi-mena's fits.
2. Burnie's fit when Padilla tried to light a cigar.
3. Padre Jer's nose hairs
4. Padre Jer's near hear attack (I really did think he was gonna drop dead right in the confessional.
5. Max haulin' a$$ out of the hospital as soon as the doc said Ji/Xi was fine.
6. Cruz catching Fer trying to leave...and his little dance afterward.
7. Burnie's fit when the rag was on fire.
8. Toni's joy when MM talked about "the doll" (which apparently, like the ability to sew, trumps DNA every time. Poor Burnie wasted all that money on those tests.)
9. The gold lamé corset/fur vest/oddly colored in the crotch stretch pants of MM
10. María the formerly Desamparada then Desinformada and now Embarazada telling Victoria she was going to make something of herself and didn't need her anyway. (For a nanosecond after she left I thought Vic was going to say something like "So much like me at the same age.")

Not all lists, Miss Sara, not all lists. But yours is a peach!

As for Vic's exaggerated badness, every time she shows us how nasty she can be, I hear Jimmy Cliff's old reggae song in my head: The bigger they come, the harder they fall!

BTW, I meant to say earlier:
Vivi, your analysis of Vic's role here is superb! Thank you.

P.S. Word verification: dinglexi

Sara
It annoys the crap out of me that they always use María's adopted last name.
In the middle of hot sex, does Max say María Desamparada, when they are finally married, will he call her María Desamparada de Sandoval?

WOW....WHAT A MESS MAX IS IN....HAVING TO MARRY THE LOONEY TUNE.....WE ARE NOT IN THIS NOVELA AND DON'T LIVE OUR LIVES THIS WAY SO THE DUMB THINGS THEY DO OR DON'T DO ARE REALLY STUPID......OF COURSE WE WOULD GO GET A DNA TEST.....OF COURSE WE WOULD BE SUSPICIOUS OF THE X-FACTOR BEING A HO BAG SINCE SHE WAS SUSPECTED OF CHEATING ON HIM IN THE BEGINNING.......VICTORIA IS A REAL ASS AND WE LOVE IT CAUSE THIS IS WHAT NOVELAS ARE ALL ABOUT....BUT I FOR ONE WOULD KNOCK VICTORIA ON HER ARSE IF SHE TALKED DOWN TO ME LIKE THAT......FER NEEDS TO BE LAID BY CRUZ....HE REALLY IS SO CUTE AND SINGS TOO....CAN ANYONE GIVE ME THE NAME OF THE SONG HE SINGS TO FER? I LOVE IT....I HOPE THEY HOOK UP SOON......I THINK MAX LOOKS LIKE HE NEEDS SOME SERIOUS SLEEP........THOSE BAGS UNDER HIS EYES ARE SO BAD.....WHATA BOD THOUGH.......BERNARDA WOULD MAKE A GREAT WICKED STEPMOTHER LIKE IN SLEEPING BEAUTY....SHE IS A GREAT ACTRESS.....AND SHE IS TOTALLY BELIEVABLE IN THIS ROLE....LINDA HO IS NOT SO BAD JUST MIXED UP

I forgot to add MM's Buccaneer boots to my list :-(

The song Cruz sings is Mi Riqueza es este amor por ti. It really is gorgeous.

Here it is on you tube

Haha Sara MM's buccaneer boots well isn't better than wearing those darn scarves or beret?

Thanks for the link, Variopinta!

oo! Make Ji/Xi-mena's berets #12!

Oh, jeez. Forgot to ask if anyone else caught the premiere of Para Volver a Amar. I've seen the first twenty minutes...pretty good. Nailea Norvind is in it. The tiny bit of her I saw in CCEA (I didn't watch much of it) I liked her. I guess 'cause she's not your typical TN face. I think her story line will be very interesting.

Sara- I just watched my recording of PVaA this evening when I got home. It was great! Great acting, cast and story so far. Each of the couples are very different, but they've established how they are each connected really well. Very real storylines too.The storyline with Nealia struck me as well. She's very good at conveying her emotions in a very constrained way.

I'm hoping I can find time for this one, Vivi. The little bit that I saw was really good.

Oh! Which reminds me...I noticed at the beginning of PVaA, as each couple exited the church that it was very similar to the red church they use in TdA. Is this a famous church in Mexico, or is Televisa saving money and just using stock footage of this church? (And is it just a coincidence that Burnie's house is the same color?)

LOL Sara. I'm not sure it's the same church as the inside was more ornate than the one in TDA I believe. But they do tend to use the same houses and haciendas in novelas, so I'm sure they use some of the same churches multiple times. That was an interesting wedding montage at the beginning. They used the same actors who will be playing the characters throughout, but it was made obvious once the action started that they were all married at different times, most when they were young decades ago.

I've been out for 3 weeks and just got caught up. 99% of you will disagree with me and that's fine but I love seeing Linda's thong wearing bare a$$. :D The women can have William Levy and OZ, I can have the beautiful women. Ferbeast is about to be tamed by Cruz and she's not bad at all. Just a beautiful spoiled brat.

Confession is a big thing in Mexico and most Spanish and Spanish influenced countries and it must be their ego that they confess and gloat at the same time knowing or thinking that the priest will not break the vows of secrecy.

Padre Juan Pablo could not advise MAria Desamparada to use contraceptives becuase the Catholic church is against them. Even condoms. I'm Catholic and don't see anything wrong with contraception. Blasphemy I'm sure. Abortion is a different issue entirely, but contraception is still frowned upon.

Say what you will about Linda but she always has Maria D's back. Gotta love her loaylty to her and even Nathy despite their not seeing eye to eye on many things.

One thing I really like about Jimena are her calves. :)

That is the big clue right there about the 2 Maria's and who is the real daughter. Being left by the railroad tracks. We know Maria Desamparada was not left there but was found in a street while MAria Magdalena was.

In FELS Gabi set fire to Soledad's home years ago and again close to the end. She also tried to burn down the Panadero/cum residence of the 3 Hermanos Reyes and the girls.

Ok the show is on.

Is it my computer or my posts are not registering here? Weird...

I think Linda would have a Brazilian so don't worry about what you saw.

What happened to my comments before the 9pm show last night? They disappeared. So did my other posts asking about them??!?! That was weird.
