Triunfo del Amor #94 4/19/11 Time to Split or Get Off The Pot

Viewerville returns to the scene of the home invasion that Jimena can now add to the list of her other crimes. She’s holding a butcher knife to Maria’s throat and discussing what it’s like to hold the life of your worst enemy in your hands-- among other assorted and sundry weirdisms.

Across town, there’s a knock at Guillermo’s front door. Osvaldo is there with a briefcase that he hands over to Gui. Ozzie’s keeping his word to stop his legal case against him in exchange for not telling Max that Gui is really Osguito’s baby-daddy.

Back at Maria’s, Jimmie’s suddenly grabbed from behind by Fausto before she can stab Maria. The two wrestle for possession of the knife. The adrenaline flow is at maximum.

Back at Gui’s man-cave, Ozzie tells Gui he’s the one who actually comes out on top with this deal, even though Gui, the Judas, probably thinks differently. Guilty Gui snickers at the fact that Oz has finally realized after all this time that yes, Gui’s been taking, little by little, whatever belonged to Ozzie—and he won’t stop, he threatens, till he sees him alone and totally defeated. Oz snickers back. “--No, that’s your future. You see, I have two children and two grandchildren but you have nothing and nobody.” Gui reminds him that one of those kids is his son. No, not anymore, corrects Oz. He exchanged him for a theater. Gui snarls back menacingly (Actually, it sounds like a competition going on between him and his dog). He could ask for a DNA test any day he wants to. Oz dares him to--if he wants the whole world laughing at him. Who’d believe it of him anyway? (I’m not sure why. Something must have been lost in the cultural abyss here.) Os leaves Gui with that cheery thought and walks out. Guillermo waits till the door’s closed and then has a temper tantrum.

Back at Maria’s again: Jimmie manages to push the knife into Fausto’s thigh. He starts choking her to death. Maria screams at him to let her go. Ji runs out and back home. Maria thanks him because she doesn’t know what would have happened if he hadn’t shown up. Fausto promises to watch after her and to make sure it doesn’t happen again. (How about just reporting the incident to the police and getting her locked up in a loony bin? You’ve got fingerprints and your blood on that knife, not to mention there’s now huge gash in Fausto’s thigh!) He refuses to see a doctor about his leg and asks only for her sewing kit. Yep, he sews up the six inch gash by himself. (We get a close up of that as a bonus--something I could have definitely done without, especially right after dinner.)

Don Joel invites Milagros to dinner at his apartment that night. She doesn’t really want to go, but will sacrifice the time if it makes Don Napo, her naco, jealous.

In the sacristy, Padre Juan Pablo tells his mother that he’s heartbroken because of what he now knows and will pray for her to see the error of her ways and to repent. Doña Bernarda denies knowing what he’s talking about and insists she’s got nothing to repent of. She leaves. He prays. (Yawn.) FF>>

Back at the Sandoval manse, Roxi tries buttering up Victoria about their grandchild’s improving health. Vicki isn’t in the mood. If the kid’s getting better it’s only because he has at least one parent who is there to take care of him, and it sure ain’t been Jimena, she says. Roxi blames it on her daughter’s worsening nerves, and says now that they’re living there as poor relations [arrimadas], she feels even worse. (Again, nobody ever suggests getting Jimmie some serious therapy!) Vicki has little or no sympathy for said D-I-L because, as she tells Roxi, she knows she and Ji are still both working for Burnie and get a mighty fine salary. (Which begs the question: So why is she letting them sponge off of her then?) Ji walks in on them at that point and pouts.

Back in the bowels of the barrio once more, Max returns to Maria’s with Mini-Max. Nathy takes the baby with her so they can have a bit of private time. He starts talking divorce again. She brings up Jimena and the baby again. He swears his undying love and says their destiny is written. Lots of kissy-face time ensues.

When Ji and Rox are finally alone together, Ji tells her mama how she was just about to kill Maria when that scar-faced guy who works for Burnie walked in on her and stopped it. Roxi doesn’t seem to take her seriously. She says Ji’s getting stranger and she’s really starting to frighten her. (Is the woman willfully blind, or just a whack-job herself?) Ji says they’re going to have to move out. Mama doesn’t want to leave the luxury digs, but Ji hates all of them and the way they constantly spy on her and accuse her of things; she feels like a prisoner there! Rox wants to know just where she thinks they’re going to go. Ji’s got a couple of ideas, she says.

Across the hallway, in the master bedroom, Vicky tells Oz she can’t believe he’s dropped the legal suit against Guillermo. Why would he do that? Oz takes a few minutes to tell her the why’s and wherefore's and that it includes, Ji, Osguito, Max, and Guillermo (duhn-duhn-duhn-duhnnnn)! Vicki is drop-jaw-and-suck-it-in-impactada.

A few minutes later Jimmie walks in on Os and the baby to tell him she’s moving out and that she’s taking her baby with her. Oz refuses to hand over his grand-baby to that head-case. Vicki walks in at that point and tells her she and Rox can go if they like, but Osguito stays. Ji tells her there are things involved she isn’t aware of. Vicki says yes she is. She knows the baby is really Gui’s kid. So, if Jimmie doesn’t agree with her decision they can go see what Max has to say about it all!

Meanwhile, Max tells Maria he still wants them to be able to live together and have a family like they’ve always dreamed of doing. (Marriage, Viewerville notes, is not a part of this discussion.) Maria wonders how Jimmie’s going to feel about leaving Osguito. He is sure that since Ji doesn’t care about the kid, she won’t care if he keeps custody of the baby. (Tsk, tsk! Max still doesn’t understand the concept of emotional blackmail--or that Jimena is an ace at using it?)

Back at Scandal-Val Central, Ji tries to twist the truth into pretzels again. “--I don’t know where you get this lie from, Victoria! You know that you and I planned my seducing Max in Miami together. It was your idea! I was only doing what you asked!” Vick’s ready for her this time. “--Don’t be a hypocrite. Sure I wanted you to marry Max, but not while you were pregnant with another man’s child!” She hauls off and slaps Ji across the chops. “--Shameless hussy!” Ji starts to threaten her not to try that again, but Vicki beats her to the emotional punch line and says she’s the one not to permit things in her own house, and what she won’t permit is her staying another minute there! She wants her and “that extortionate mother” of hers out of there immediately! And, if Jimmie insists on taking that baby, there’ll be a huge and expensive legal battle which they both know she doesn’t have the money for. “—So, you might as well get moving!”

Back at the vecindad, Maria, unlike Max, doesn’t seem to have her head quite as high in the clouds. She tries to tell him that Jimena won’t like her taking care of Osguito. There’ll be hell to pay. Max doesn’t see it that way. He wants what he wants and they’ve put it off long enough, he insists. A few more kisses and Maria stops arguing. Everything looks do-able from those heights…..

Oz assures Ji that since they won’t be telling Max about this, she can start planning the lie she’s going to have to make up in order to explain why she’s leaving home. After all, she’s a good liar, so it shouldn’t be difficult. Ji says she’s leaving, but she’s definitely coming back for her son! Once she storms out, Vicki and Oz bond some more with Osguito--and with each other.

That night Millie goes to Don Joel’s for dinner and is bored out of her mind.

Naco and Juanjo are still interested in getting a second job. Naco wonders where Millie is that time of night. JJ implies that she’s on a date with the history teacher. Naco gets jealous and says he doesn’t trust the professor. (Yawn.) FF>>

Outside, Alonso pulls up in his Jeep (sparkling clean) and he’s actually dressed in a suit for once! Lon runs into Max, who’s just left Maria’s apartment, and starts in on him. “--Again, showing up where you’re not needed.” Max tells him back at ya! “--I don’t know what you’re looking for here, man. You’ve been with Maria when and where it was my place! That child is mine! What gives you the right to take that away from me? Why don’t you understand that the child belongs to me and that he carries my blood in his veins?” Lon shows the practical side of his nature here. “--And what kind of a future do you plan on offering ‘that child’ as you call him?” Max avoids the “m” word here again. “--Like any father, he will have all my protection, my affection, my love.” Lon notes the obvious and what’s missing her. He doesn’t like it one bit. “--Oh, like the ‘love’ you offered Maria Desamparada, marrying another woman??” Max grabs Lonnie by the collar. “--Just who do you think you are, huh? You are no one to ask me for explanations!” Alonso doesn’t back down. “--Yes, I am! I am the other man who loves her and her baby also! I can give them a trouble-free life because, unlike you, I don’t have other obligations, Max!” (Alonso, I believe, has just told Max that if he can’t decide whether to sh!t or get off the pot, then to get the effin’ heck out of his way for somebody who can. Yowza! Decisive men are so totally HOT!)

Max can’t argue with that, so he tries a different tack. “--Look. I am the man she loves, the man she gave her virginity to, and the man she gave a son to.” Lon shoots another verbal zinger at him. “--A son you didn’t even know was on the way!” “--You hid him from me and ran off!” “--No, that was because she sacrificed herself for love. You are making a mistake, Max. You should be doing exactly the same if you really love her. Let her free. Let her be! At least she could be happy, even though it might not be with you.” All of Max’s pent up frustration starts oozing out. “--Oh, man, there are so many things that you don’t understand because you don’t know the truth. You don’t know what’s gone on behind all this, all the sacrifice that I had to make for a child! Don’t you understand that she’s the woman in my life? I want you to understand that I can’t live without her or without her love. From now on, you don’t go near her, Alonso, because the only man that Maria Desamparada loves is me, only me!”

Back at the Scandal-Vals’, Rox wants to know why and where they are going. They have to, says Ji, because Vic and Oz both know now that Gui’s the real baby-daddy. And no, they aren’t going to tell Max, provided that she leaves “the brat” with them. Dizzy-Ditz Mama-Rocks-For-Brains asks Ji what she’s planning to do. “--TO LEAVE HERE!” Rox finally gets it and says alright and leaves to pack.

Once Rox leaves the bedroom, Ji takes out the disguise she used when she murdered Linda-Ho and hides it in one of Vicki’s drawers.

Back at the vecindad again, Maria invites Lon inside. He looks longingly at the poster of her on the wall. “--I ran into Max outside.” Yes, she says, he came to visit and bring the baby back. After all, he is the baby’s father. Lon hides his frown.

Max gets home and goes up to his bedroom. He asks Jimmie what she’s doing. She tells him she and her mom are moving out and leaving Osguito with him. She knows he’ll be fine with Max. But, she warns him, she’ll be back for him because neither he nor anybody is going to stop her from taking her son. Suddenly, it seems, Max has been knocked down from his cloud perch. He might have misjudged Ji’s reactions after all.

Burnie can’t find Fausto. He’s not in the house and she’s ticked. She orders Eva to find him or they’re both fired! FF>>

JP returns to his room and cries as he thinks back to Fausto’s confession. Mama is a serial murderer and arson! Oh the shame! He prays. FF>>

Back in the vecindad, Millie, Nat, and Napo are together in Millie’s apartment. He’s supposedly reading the want-ads while Millie whispers to Nat about how she likes Napo better than that boring Don Joel. Napo is upset that he can’t hear what they’re gossiping about. FF>>

Jimmie and Rox show up unexpectedly at Burnie’s and tell her that they have just been thrown out of the Sandoval’s.

Back at Pappy and Grand Pappy’s, there’s another bonding session with Osguito. Ozzie has sworn to Max that Jimena will never get custody of the baby. Max says no way he’d allow it after all he sacrificed for the little guy. Vicki walks in on the three of them and throws a curve ball by asking Max if he’d feel the same even if the boy weren’t his son. Max’s antennae shoot up.

At Burnarda’s, Demented Dama the Elder asks where Demented Dama the Younger’s baby is. Ji whimpers that they took him away from her. “--Oh, I see now. So what would I gain by letting you stay here with me?” Ji makes her pitch. “--A chance to get even with Victoria--something you’ve wished for for a very long time.”

Max says of course he would love him the same. “--It would be impossible not to love the epitomy of handsome that this little baby is.” (Look close and you’ll see Osguito smile at the end of that scene!!)

Again in the bowels of the barrio, the gang’s all there at Maria’s to see the baby --Lonnie, Cruz, Nat, Napo and Millie. Napo and Cruz give the baby their gift: a onesie with some soccer team’s logo. Millie and Napo do a little verbal sparring over their favorite teams. Nat brings the conversation to something more serious: what’s Maria going to do about Max? Maria is ready to move in with him now. The others, especially Lon, can’t believe she’d do that after all the Hell he’s put her through. They warn her that she won’t have a moment’s peace if she does, not just because of Victoria Sandoval’s attitude toward her, but it won’t be easy caring for another woman’s child, especially her worst enemy’s child. Napo warns her that Jimena “is off her rocker!” [estar mal de la azotea] Maria doesn’t care. She tells them she doesn’t care about Victoria Sandoval, or Jimena or anything. It’s time they were together! Nat advises Maria to report Jimena to the police. She can’t act as if nothing happened there earlier! (Works for me, Nat!)

Speaking of talking to the police and reporting a crime, Jimmie places an anonymous phone call to the police from a payphone while Burnie waits in her car. Ji tells the police that she knows who killed Linda-Ho. She has all the information, even the address where they can find her if they go right now: It’s Victoria Sandoval and they can find proof of the crime in Victoria Sandoval’s bedroom. She killed the woman because she was her husband’s lover.

Excellent recap. I finally saw an entire episode. I thought the teaming of Os and Victoria against Ji/Xi were great. Now that Victoria is not such a weakling, why doesn't Os tell her about his first wife?

I am against violence, but I also believe people should stick up for themselves. I would have loved to see Maria D get out of her situation by herself by going on the attack, maybe too early in novela?

I still think this has been William Levy's best performance in a novela to date and he was outstanding last night, conversation felt very true.

Jardinera you're a rock star and thanks so much for doing a extra recap in your busy schedule.

I was applauding Os for telling off XXX-factor on Monday but i'm still upset with him for not telling Max who the real father is of that baby for goodness sake max is a grown man tell him the truth.

I was ROFL from you're question why can't XXX-factor and her mother afford their own digs?I think the question should be what in the heck are they spending their money on?Ok XXX-factor probably booze and pills but what the heck is Roxana's excuse?

You asked is Roxana a whack job or wsillfully blind i say both she knows that her daughter killed Lindaho' her response i'll protect you. Now she knows she tried to kill Maria also let's not forget how she expects to live off of her daughter and be supported by her too. So let's make sure she accompanies XXX-factor to the looney bin and get accommodations for herself also.

I'm creeped out by Alonso but he did have a valid point that he made with Max who needs to get a divorce asap and stop making all of these empty declarations of leaving and divorcing XXX-factor.

I think XXX-factor really made a good point also Victoria should be the last one to talk because she was in on helping XXX-factor trapped Max too. If anything if Victoria had any type of sense after she had her little talk with Max she should have went to Fabian and asked him what does he know about XXX-factor and did she really cheat on Max and had her investigated.

Excellent work, Jardinera. I can't believe we'll be at Capitulo 100 tonight.

Nobody's called the police about Ximeana yet, as I predicted yesterday. Somebody's probably also washed the knife. Obviously nobody has a TV set or they would know better from Law & Order (which is shown in Mexico).

I could have done without seeing the gash in Fausto's thigh, and that is something that requires an immediate emergency room. It probably didn't go deep enough for the femoral artery or he would have died in minutes.

What's going to happen with Fausto and Ximeana under the same roof?

Victoria was at home arguing with Osvaldo at the time of the murder of LindaHo. Wasn't that the day of the divorce papers?

Alonso does have a point. If Max had some real cojones he would divorce Ximeana in a nanosecond. He has plenty of grounds without even knowing about the attempted murder of Maria. The only sticky wicket in all this is Osquito. Since it can be proven that he isn't Max's, Gui might be awarded custody, which would be a disaster. Yes, Gui could demand a DNA test anytime, but the only reason he would do this is to vex the Sandovals. He doesn't give a flying damn about the baby.

Who -- miraculously -- doesn't look like he has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

As to the millions of dollars Gui stole from Osvaldo, I think Os can get that back after the curtain comes down, if you get my drift.

Maria D will be more than OK raising Osquito, just as her mother was with Max.

Victoria's chickens are coming home to roost, but the egg on her face won't stick. It won't take long to prove she didn't kill LindaHo.

Blusamurai, you've got Rox's number. She absolutely expects to live off Ximeana and never have to work. As to what she spends her money on, my guess is on clothes, accessories, jewelry, and lavish dinners she doesn't prepare herself. She never had to fend for herself her entire life and never developed any interest in learning how.

She's a garden-variety narcissist who until now hasn't wanted to acknowledge her spawn's mental illness.

The very last scene has Alonso forcing Maria to kiss him. I don't think he's going to stay away from her. I never trusted him from day one. Can't wait for the next episode.

Anon: That kissing scene is in the previews for tonight.

Very good recap. I was muy impactado with Fausto. He is "John Wayne" tough.

Do you think the makeup artist is keeping X-factor's eyemake so bland so as to exphasize her weak character?

Tia Anni

Jardinera, thank you so much for another great recap.

Os looked quite pleased with himself during and after his little chat with Gui, I hope it last.

The witches coven should provide some really good entertainment for us. And poor Fausto will be trying to keep a lid on the whole mess. It will be fun to see which one turns against the other first.

If Max does not file for divorce now that BSCX has moved out, he never will!

Rosemary

I remeber i believe we had a discussion during STUD why the priest never leave their calling what ever their reasoning they eventually go back into the priesthood and remain.

My problem with the novelas for all of their little messages they try to send their audience why aren't they trying to promote safe sex more? You know like the main hero and heorine using a condom?

Urban you are so right about Max not having any cojones he is so disappointing to me but i feel in this version i don't like how easily the Mariua D. character has allowed herself to become his mistress so she is equal at fault because she keeps falling for his promises right along with his kisses.

Urban you are speaking to the choir about XXX-factor and her antics she should have a restraining order put on her.This right here is my major rant these novelas keep promoting how obsessive and stalkerish and psycho characters like XXX-factor are but they don't really come up with normal everyday solutions to deal with them once.To show that turning the other cheek or trying to be like mother Teresa is not the only way to deal with people who need to be locked up in a mental institution. Last time i checked Mexico does have restraining orders too i know for plot purposes they will continue to write novelas like this but once again i will say can they be a little creative?

The femoral artery runs along the medial aspect of the lower extremity. The knife went into the lateral aspect in the region of the tensor fasciae latae.

The more deadly placement for the knife would have been in the right groin where a knife that large would not have missed either the femoral artery or femoral vein.

The wound was deep enough for Fausto that he should have been seen immediately by a surgeon. He is now at high risk for either local or systemic infection or compartment syndrome. If left untreated, compartment syndrome can result in loss of the lower extremity.

Wow you guys are amazing, all this medical stuff. Maybe for that scene the writers actually did some research?

Jardinera just wanted to tell you thanks for recap. Somehow when I did my earlier post did not see your name (I guess these eyedrops are getting to me). Thank you so much.

Did XXX-factor ever state why she aborted Alonso's baby, I mean he had money, and then all of a sudden she aborted, did they ever explain that?

Fausto - I hope he ends up well, he is pulling at my heart. I hope the writers don't make him heartless and cruel at the end because of his face. I hope they go another way.

Jardinera - Great title (Buahahahaaa) and recap. Thank you!

I can NOT understand why Os wouldn't want Max to know the baby is Gui's. Max would be free of BSC Jimena if he only knew. Gahhh...!

Jardinera- Your title expressed exactly how I have felt about Max and his marriage situation, so I am not going to rant too much today. Mommy and Daddy just took care of a major challenge for him- getting Xi out of the house. Now he needs to start the legal paperwork and make it final.

I don't understand the point in not telling Max about the baby either. He gave his answer- he loves that baby. It wouldn't matter if it's not his bio child. Plus the child is registered legally as his. It doesn't matter if Gui and Xi try to make some bio claim. Xi's infidelity and deception about the baby would only be more weapons to use against her in a divorce and custody battle.

It makes no sense to me why Maria is not pressing charges against Xi and getting a restraining order. Doesn't she realize how dangerous she is?! JPito is in DANGER! In fact, as soon as Xi ran out of the house, Maria should have been on the phone to Max to make sure that wherever he was with the baby, he didn't let Xi near him. But she just calmly sits back and waits for Max to return with her baby. She's just being way too complacent about everything- Xi's craziness and Max's continued married status. Wake up Maria!

I believe in Mi Pecado, Lu (Maite) takes out a restraining order on her abusive husband. She also returns to her parents' home where there is an armed guard at the gates with instructions to shoot her husband (he also had instructions to shoot her galan at one point). I agree that this is not shown enough as an option. Yes, we know restraining orders can be ineffective, but at least get people into the mindset of reporting this stuff. Rapes are hardly ever reported either until much later when all evidence is gone. For a genre that targets women, tns are lousy about giving women good examples about how to face some tough common problems.

Does Maria even have a phone? Max should have given her one long ago instead of buying all of those flowers.

Maria and Fausto both should have gone to the police and had BSCX arrested for attempted murder.

Rosemary

"Something must have been lost in the cultural abyss here".

What a great line Jardinera! And props to you for doing two great recaps in the space of a few days.

And of course the title is awesome. Thanks amiga.

In the paper today there was an article about the difficulties of trying to create a show like Everybody Loves Raymond on Russian TV and translate the humor. Evidently it didn't work, but the kicker was that Mexican telenovelas were the most popular of all exported shows around the world, far outdistancing American and British creations. Interesting.

There's a public phone in the courtyard of the vecinidad- the one Nati used to get the updates on the birth of JPito. But yes, Max should make sure his "woman" (as he's fond of saying) and child have an easy way of reaching him or emergency services, and of being reached.

Jardinera, hilarious title and great recap. Jimena's not the only one with wacko thinking, it's affected almost every character. All I can do is shake my head while tightening my beanie (and that's not so easy to do--beanie slips off-center.) Agree we didn't need the closeups of Fausto performing that surgical procedure on himself.
La Paloma

Jardinera; Excellent title. I always love your recaps and this was no ezception. So many wonderful lines including "Demented Dama the Elder...Demented Dama the Younger’s". Always enjoy being part of your Viewerville. You always put such care and attention into your recaps.

Diana

Hi y'all! I have to admit to being a little punchy after doing so many of these things in a row. I don't know how Melinama managed it with Amor Real back in the day!
==========
Manoman! Everyone has such great and OPINIONATED comments this time. LOL!
==============
Nellie, amiga, I would say there is a cut off and that self-preservation does not equate to wanton violence. Or, violence is acceptable in cases of self-preservation. I guess in that case we don't disagree. : ? )
============
Blusa: I guess I am never creeped out by a guy who's just trying to find the best way to impress a girl if it's honest and on the level. He's always been up front and held back. Granted, he may not tonight, but I still won't hold it against him. I will give him bonus points for trying cuz Maria's so dazzled by Max that she can't see the Lon forest for the Max trees. There's something to be said for a cave man attitude when the woman is too dopey to know what's up -jes sayin'-- LOL!

Jardinera,

Great recap.

Fausto should not have removed the knife and should have gone directly to the emergency room. As Anon said the location of the wound was fortunate, but even so, there should have been much more blood. All that said... Fausto is one tough hombre.

Ozzy needs to tell Max the truth about Osguito... punto.

Max needs to quit dithering.

Alonso needs to vanish.

Max annoys me... Alonso creeps me out.

Carlos

UrbanA: the baby "Who -- miraculously -- doesn't look like he has Fetal Alcohol Syndrome" I was thinking the same thing when it was born.
===========
Tia Anni: Welcome! Interesting observation about Ji. As for Fausto, somebody needs to consider plastic surgery for the guy before this tn's over. ITA John Wayne tough.
================
Rosemary: "If Max does not file for divorce now that BSCX has moved out, he never will!" It remains to be seen, but then we do have the "family connection" eventually as regards him pairing up with his step-sis......
===============
Anon. 1:57pm - Welcome and thanks for the medical rundown. I was curious about that. We do have our very own resident doc (Carlos) on the blog, but I'm sure we'd love to have another just for good measure. : ? )
===================
Doris: No better reason to secure a move towards a much needed divorce, or to win one, than by comeing out with the truth to Max about the bebito's baby-daddy.
===============
Ah, JudyB! I thought we'd lost you! I could go into a discussion (being of Russian stock) about why that might be, but won't go into it here. Anyway, are you taping TDA since it comes on so late now?

La Paloma, you may have to trade that beanie in for a later model. Jes' sayin'......
===================
Diana: The two wackiest whack jobs are now under the same roof and plotting together. This should make for an exciting next 3 months.
==================
Carlos: I am curious as to why Alonso creeps YOU out of all people!

Jardinera,

Stalkers always mean well... after all, they are obsesses by their prey. Alonso, by definition, is a stalker.

Carlos

Blusamurai, Telemundo had a novela with a padre who left the priesthood. Gitanas, which first aired in 2004, had a Padre Juan Dominguez (Saul Lisazo, another Argentine) who had been railroaded into the priesthood by a controlling mother.

At the age of 40-something he realized he had never had a chance to experience the real world. He fell in love with a beautiful gypsy widow and decided to leave the priesthood. Which initially didn't want to let him go. The people in his parish also objected, questioning whether their marriages were valid, etc.

Around episode 140 he made love to Jovanka for the first time and by the finale they were married with a baby.

Telemundo has rerun this series at least once. If they do so again, watch.

Since Max is too thick-headed to file for divorce, this probably means that Jimena will die before the end, leaving Max free to marry María without divorce on his record.

Thanks for the recap Jardinera (you are every where). Thanks for dedication to this blog. People like me would be lost without you.

I'm still in shock more people know Osito isn't Max's and we aren't in the final weeks of the TN.

Jardinera i understand where you're coming from but this version of Maria since she is written like this he does have to accept she doesn't see him like that and i do believe has overstepped being present for some very private personal moments between Max and Maria. Now if Maria was willing to give him a chance and consider him as alternative then i wouldn't be so put off by him.

Urban bi think i did try to watch that novela but i couldn't get into it maybe one day i will.

Vivi you are so right on it's time for everyone to wake up and call XXX-factor for what she is BSC and she needs to be locked up as well. I could not believe the writers had Maria first not even fight back and allowed herself to be put in a position with a knife held to her throat and cut behind her ear. Then her response after it everything happened and Fausto saved her was like oh well let me sit down after tending to Fausto and that scene was so unnecessary and gross.

Vivi once again excellent point it's not only herself she has to consider but Maria should be thinking about the safety of her son.Yes in Mi Pecado they did show the audience the right and proper response to deal with someone who is brutal and crazy get a restraining order and Maria should have run out of her apartment to get help or cry for it instead of allowing herself to be backed up into the kitchen so the psycho crazy can grab a knife to try and kill her.

Yikes, I'm so late getting to this. A job came in and I got swamped. Jardinera: you are a trooper and a very creative one at that. Thanks for picking up the tuesday night slack. Another brilliant recap which engendered all these great comments.---I'm glad that Fausto at least sterilized his needle, but if he thinks those sutures will hold so close to the edge of that gash, he'd better stay immobilized for a few days. And maybe a course of antibiotix. Gratuitous gore if you ask me.---I'm think we all need our beanies to get over Max's obvious faults: the lack of divorce, phone, material support for his true love AND his child, etc. etc. Let's face it, He's the guy and Alonso's not. And as he so clearly laid out for us last night. This is True Luurve. and you can't mess wit'dat.---I like how Vickie's getting so feisty. Now I know why they have Jimena playing the role this way (although you could argue that's how she plays every role): it's those lifeless eyes. She's dead inside. Pure evil. Jimmie & Burnie what a pair! Can't wait for tonight.

@Jardinera...actually not watching. But when I have time, like to stop by and read the recaps because you have a terrific team doing this. Just enjoy your humor and way with words.

Took a gander at Cuando Me Enamoro tonight since our Llena just ended. Yikes. A boatload of bad things happened all in the first night. Hate stolen baby stories. Oh well. It's en español. Must remember why I'm watching these. Buenas noches everyone.

Great recap Jardinera. I always enjoy your titles.

I also get totally creeped out by Alonso. EEEEW. Always taking her picture, assuming he can be like a father to her son, ugh.

Max is starting to get on nerves now, too, he needs to be a man.

Maria D needs to stop being such a doormat! Honestly, she can't pick mini-max's godmother? Really?

Os and Vic -- well, my beanie is getting really tight with all the adjustments I've been making. Why, oh why, would you not tell your son that baby isn't his? Doesn't make any sense.

And Vic telling Xi she would never get her baby. I don't know anything about Mexico custody law but Xi is the natural mother. Baby is no connections to Vic & Os biologically, sooooo QTH?

Ay, ay, ay. Can't wait to see how Xi and Dona Dementa end up getting theirs.

So far, the only man who seems to have any cojones is the elder priest! Love him! The only one who has the guts to stand up for what he believes.

Ixv, do you do surgery? You are of course absolutely correct. As close to the skin margins as his stitches are... no way they won't pull through. As broad as that blade was and as deep as it went, he could have probably used some deep sutures in the fascia. I expect that Eva will put an antibacterial herbal poultice on it and it'll be OK as far as infection is concerned. I'm amazed at the lack of bleeding. Do you suppose he has peripheral artery problems as well?

Great job, Jardinera! Thank you!

OMG No Carlos. I was a nurse back in the 70s, and I saw plenty of surgeries. The surgical residents used to mess up their scrubs by practicing their suturing on the pants legs while they were sititng around with nothing better to do (I worked nights). But I did recently come home from having a hip replaced; they put in 27 wire staples (that's just what was visible on the surface). So I was startled to see him digging that (straight) needle in so close to the edge. Gahhh!!!

Ixv,

thanks for evoking memories. I too once sutured the pants legs of my scrubs. I had forgotten.

Good luck with that new hip.

Carlos
