Triunfo del Amor #95 4/20/11
- Os and Max play with baby. Os refuses to be called Abuelo..it's Papito Vic enters: “you really love him don’t you” (Give the woman a prize for dumbest question of the year.) Max says more than his own life.
- Os mumbles something about Xi and the house…I *think* he said so much that you would never let Xi leave this house. Something like that. Max mumbles about sacrificing for the baby.
- Vic asks if Max would feel the same if the child wasn’t really his. Max=impacada/confundido
- Xi is on the phone giving an anonymous tip. She knows who killed LindaHo Sortini. Bernarda watches from the car and Xi assures the operator on the other end of the line that she can provide all the information needed to capture the asesina. Her name is Victoria Sandoval and you can find the (planted) proof in her bedroom. Bernarda smooths her brow and Xi explains that Victoria Sandoval killed Linda because she was the lover of Vic’s husband.
- Fausto painfully pulls jeans over his wound. He limps around his quarters and screams like a wounded animal. He swears to protect Maria Desamparada (chug *hic*) from all who want to harm her.
- Burnie and Xi plot. Burnie hopes that the cops believe Xi. Xi hopes so too. The Sandovals have just sullied her reputation(?) and all she did wrong was fall in love with a man that deceived her, betrayed her (man, talk about pushing los botones de Bernarda.) She badmouths Maria. She’s not what Burnie thinks. Maria forced herself between Max and Xi. She stole Max’s love from Xi. Burnie, of course, does her usual “men suck” diatribe. They always take advantage, deceive and betray…and that’s why they need to be punished.
- Xi says that’s exactly why she needs revenge. He took her baby away! Burnie asks if she really loves the baby that much. Xi says “I’m his mother! Of course I love him. All moms love their children.” oh.puke. Burnie says not all. If Xi really loves the baby, then Burnie will help her take the baby from Max. But, if Xi deceives her or betrays her…Burnie will put her in a world of hurt and become her worst enemy.
- oh hilarious. Xi says she is incapable of betraying Burnie. Let’s pause to take that in…..
- Gui is reading something classic. I am sure it fits in nicely with what he’s doing to Os. I didn’t pay close attention, but I heard “perdida” “leyes” “engañar” I also heard "suffered over her death." He is being very dramatic. There is a knock at the door. It’s Vic!
- SMACK!!!
- Why have you done us so much harm! She shouts.
- It’s Os’s fault! Gui screams.
- Vic can’t believe that after all this time Gui is still whining about Leonela!
- The cops are at Casa Sandoval. They have a search warrant. They’ve received info against Vic (and it looks like we will have someone going to jail for a crime they didn’t commit. Have we covered all the TN rules yet?)
- The search begins. Os’s tie matches the staff’s uniform. He asks them to go to Fer’s room and make sure she doesn’t know what it going on. They scurry off.
- Back at Burnie’s the Grand Dama del Diablo wants to know where Fausto has been all day. Apparently Fausto has been praying that el Señor save unrepentant sinners (close up on Xi-devil) from harm. Burnie appreciates the intentions…but she wants to know what her employees are up do and where they are.
- Eva assures Burnie that she’ll make sure Fausto is ever present. Burnie gives Eva a once over and a spin around and says that if Eva is going to be working at Casa Bernarda, she shouldn’t have such an “old maid” vibe. Burnie orders a makeover…from Rox. (Egads!)
- Rox brown-noses. Did she call her "Ber"? (*burp*)
- The Naco Contigent is trying to convince Maria of something...press charges against Xi perhaps? She is adamant that Xi will not come between her and Max. Their time is finally here! She doesn’t fear anyone or anything. I almost feel bad for her…she really doesn’t know she has at least 50 episodes to go…
- Millie rallies the crew for planning the boda. They leave and Alonso is left to convince Maria not to be with Max. She asks him to leave so she can feed the baby.
- Vic and Gui are still arguing. Gui can’t believe she knows about Leonela. Vic says there are no secrets between her and Os…(well, except for that pesky LindaHo thing.) Gui tries to convince he there are plenty of secrets. She doesn’t fall for it. She tells him to leave her family and her grandson alone. Gui starts up and Vic interrupts. It’s her grandson and if he dares to tell Max …well, don’t push her. She’s a mother and is capable of anything to defend her children. Gui asks if she’s capable of killing. She says yes. (She's gonna regret that.)
- Gui can’t believe she fell for a guy as weak as Os. She should have given him a spin at her side.
- Vic calls him scum and says that’s why Leonela left him. She leaves dramatically.
- Gui is left with his mumbly thought bubble. Max is all that’s left in his plan for vengeance. Other bits I missed.
- Fer sings to baby Osguito. Maids try to keep her from finding out about C.S.I. D.F.
- Os convinces the cops not to search Fer’s room for now.
- Fer believes the "we’re moving furniture for the baby’s room" BS.
- Cops search Vic’s bedroom. And find the wig and sunglasses that have been conveniently planted there. Os walks in at that moment.
- Burnie excuses Eva and Fausto. Eva offers to make a potent potable (jerez-sherry) for Burnie. Rox and Xi also invite themselves to the suggestion. Rox will have a double and plops herself in Burnie’s throne. Burnie looks a little annoyed. Xi sticks to her standard Vodka on the rocks. Burnie kicks Rox out of her chair.
- Vic is home and finds out she’s being accused of LindaHo’s murder.
- Burnie praises the sherry. Rox slams it back like a shooter. Burnie is appalled. (I find Burnie’s annoyance so much more comical than the Naco bunch.)
- PJP enters this idyllic scene. He looks less than happy. I miss the half open shirts he used to wear. :-(
- Os tries to convince the po po that Vic couldn’t have killed Linda. They are unmoved. Their orders are to bring in Victoria Sandoval. Os is going to call Oscar.
- Vic leaves with the police. *My* interpretation of her look was “If you would’ve kept your pecker in your pants, this wouldn’t be happening to me.”
- Os wonders who could want to cause them so much harm?
- Burnie can’t figure out why PJP is always reproaching her for not being more compassionate and now that she’s helping out these poor women he’s mad.
- First of all…he doesn’t think they are “poor women.” Burnie says they won’t be staying in the house very long.
- Burnie says she’s worried about the way PJP left at their last conversation. She wants to know what’s afflicting him?
- Fausto fills Eva in on Xi’s BSC attempted murder stunt.
- Eva chastises him for seeing out Maria. Fausto says he’ll see her as many times as he wants.
- Eva tells him to forget Maria. It ain’t gonna happen. She invokes the memory of his mother.(Truly Fausto is a pitiable character.)
- Padre is talking to Burnie. religious debate. Pride goeth before the fall/I’ve put God first in everything (even murder) blah blah blah.
- Padre blah blahs metaphorically and Burnie asks him to say straight up what he’s accusing her of. He says his job is to bring peeps closer to God. He wants her to make an act of contrition. Burnie is all “basta with this basura” and asks why he’s there.
- Padre blah blahs about the vecindad and someone taking care of his daughter and grandson. Burnie asks him if he realizes it’s dangerous to refer to them that way. She blah blahs some more and says to call them by name. Padre says they are family. Burnie says it’s to protect them to. Don’t provoke gossip.
- Padre asks her not to take away one of the few privileges he has: to call them by their familiar names (daughter and grandson.) He only does it in front of her and Padre Jer. Fine Burnie says. Someone can take care of he daughter. He wants Fausto for the job.
- Speaking of whom…Fausto is dealing with not seeing Maria, but he says they have to be ever alert since they don’t know the intentions of the two women in the house (Xi and Rox)
- Eva says they could screw up their plans to exact revenge on Burnie. She leaves. Fausto pines and says “Maria Desamparada”
- Maria dreams of her future with Max and the baby fusses.
- Alonso brings Maria Juan Pablo (fils)’s first baby album. Apparently he plans to capture every last moment of this child’s life on film.
- He professes his love. He loves her with all his soul! He can’t lose Maria!
- Maria doesn’t love him. She only loves Max.
- Alonso kisses her passionately!
- Univision cuts to commercial!
- Maria pushes Lonso away. He knows he’s a dumb ass.
- Vic is giving her statement. Yes, I hated the beyotch, but I didn’t kill her. But the cops have good proof (the wig and glasses that trump eyewitnesses, alibis and DNA) Vic is all “puh-leaze, I wouldn’t sully my hands on that woman.” Oscar rushes in. He lets the po po know that he’s the lawyer and can prove Vic is innocent.
- Er, Oscar blah blahs…real fast. Lots of witnesses that can testify as to where Vic was perhaps? Besides the stuff they found doesn’t even belong to Vic. In the background Gui has just rushed in….
- …and let’s the cops know Vic was just at his house threatening her. What.a.bastard.
- The police ask if it is true. Vic says yes. Oscar shakes his head all “shut up you dummy” like and the police inform Vic she will be spending the evening in the luxurious Cárcel Cabana.
- Oscar protests. The cops say the lady will be detained. Gui grins, Os is impactado; as is Vic.
- Maria asks Lonso what the heck is wrong with him. Why did you kiss me? ‘Cause he couldn’t contain himself. She can’t believe he did what he did. Their friendship can’t continue. She wants him to understand she appreciates everything he’s done for her and her son but her heart belongs to baby daddy (Max.) She’s going to be with him. He doesn’t think she can be happy with Max. She disagrees. They are closer than ever to having their love triumph over all and soon they will form a family (casarnos was NOT said.) She doesn’t want to hurt Lonso and doesn’t want him to suffer, but it’s best he leave.
- Max has arrived at the comisaría (police station.) Vic says should could never kill anyone (weave yanking is more her style.) She asks Max to go home and make sure Fer doesn't find out about any of this. Max protests but Os and Oscar convince him to go. Max promises to be at Vic’s side.
- Max leaves and Vic graces Os with another “if you had just kept your pecker in your pants” look.
- Commercial break! OO! The 28th of abril---the 50 mas bellos de People en español! Must see that!
- Max is on the phone with Cruz. He hates to bother him so late…yes it has to do with Fer. Yes, he’ll wait.
- Nati and Millie FF >>
- Napo, las Jarochas y JuanJo play lotería FF>>
- Fer is having a nightmare about mamá. Max comes in. She asks about mom and he says she’s fine; Fer was just having a nightmare…and he has a surprise for her (ooo! ooo! I love surprises! I hope it’s a Cruz! Yay! it is!!!!) She has permission to go with Cruz to play lotería and eat tacos!! Cruz gets her settled in the chair and she asks about her flower. Oops. He forgot it, but he has is song with him! They leave and Max thought bubbles. His mother is right. Fer can’t know what's happening.
- Vic in jail. Ok. There is no way I can do this justice. I know it is supposed to be dramatic, but I’m just laughing. I just don’t know if I have the snark reserves. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this much pressure recapping. Ok. Vic is entering the cell in fear of all the cooties contained therein. The current residents are bidding her welcome. (I’m having Tizzy flashbacks.) Oh wow. Vic is demoralized I’m sure. I wonder if this experience will inspire a few items in the company’s new Milagros fashion line.
- Commercial break and Max voiceover.
- Napo et al and lotería, now with added Fer and Cruz FF>> Millie and Nati come and play too. JuanJo wins and Nati gives JuanJo a kiss. DAMN!
- Vic at the jail. What are you in for conversation. Cell mates argue FF>> CAT FIGHT! Vic cowers in the corner and thoughtprays: Get me out of here and don’t let Fer find out! (They let her keep her purse?)
- Cruz is wondering if Fer had a good time. She said yes and confesses she hadn’t played lotería before. Cruz wonders how she can call herself a Mexican: never had a handmade tortilla, never played lotería, never had beans a la olla. He asks if she knows Garibaldi. She doesn't. They talk mariachi and she says she prefers to listen to him. Oh boy. He’s starts the whistling. Ok. I like Mi riqueza…but it’s getting a little old. The lotería crew continue playing as if there was nothing unusual about a lip syncing guy in the corner. Big smooches. Kids make fun. Cruz tells them to hush. The crowd demands another kiss.
- Cut to cat fight. The guards break it up and ask who started it. The cellmates blame Vic. Vic denys it and they make fun of her. They are dragged away. At least Vic has the cell to herself now.
Cue the kayak
Avances:
- Max and Maria gush!
- Xi gloats!
- Os begs!
- Vic gets ID'd!

I don't see why Max can't just have the marriage annulled...he and X-box never consummated the marriage.
I was cringing when Rox downed the sherry as though it were a shot. No class whatsoever.
Guillermo might have been reading Othello. Although he is a natural Iago.
Max should have the marriage annulled... after having Ximeana committed. Or arrested. She would be interesting in a prison fight.
For the time being Bernarda's place is the Cuckoos' Nest. Or the Snake Pit.
Alonso--is he truly so rich that he can spend all his time documenting little Juan Pablo instead of making a living?
Gui with all his drama and "his mumbly thought bubble." He tries to be some evil overlord, but he's just a silly self-centered poser.
La Dama Bernarda was just superb playing her disgust/annoyance with Rox (another poser). Very subtle, just the teeniest flare of a nostril and a fleeting expression running across her stony face. Loved it.
Jail cellmates as inspiration for the Milagros design line--I had the same thought, although Vicki was probably too distracted.
La Paloma
So I'm still wondering how Maria can be so okay with being a mistress.Ins't she suppose to be so pure and church going. I'm pretty sure that adultery in a no no.
I was right about Xi using the murder kit to frame Vicky. I wonder how long Vicky will be in jail. She looked so afraid and still in utter disbelief.
.
I agree with everyone that Xi will have a great death scence. Tho she might be locked up in the loony bin and Bernie will go by fire
Paige
"I miss the half open shirts he used to wear. :-(" Lord, I do too. He gets in Burnie's face better without the collar too. He has got to realize his nutcase of a mother is never going to suddenly see the error of her ways. Want him back in action and cut the blah blahs.
Like the idea of Burnie by fire and she can take Xi with her. I may have to start watching this TN more online so I can fast-forward her scenes more. Even her nasaly voice is getting to me.
Paige, I'm also with you on Maria. This whole idea of just moving in with Max almost seems out of character. And he should think better of her, that it may not be inately in her beliefs to keep it up until he decides how to handle Xi. Max gets me miffed on that.
I've been giving Al some slack, but last night: baby album.very cute. Grabbing for the kiss...stupid. I don't think he's out of the picture though. Betting this whole Vic thing will make Max change his mind about moving in with Maria somehow. Vic, you should be happy you got arrested...it will break up Maria and Max! Embrace your inner orange.
When Alonso was kissing Maria, I expected Max to burst in the door and a long misunderstanding to follow. Not much of that kind of thing in this novela, I must say.
Victoria is such a hothead. The need to confront Guillermo and declare that he doesn't know who he is dealing with -- the mother lion business, was so silly not to mention stupid on her part. Little does she know . . . .
As for the "Nati and Millie FF >>" scene over the vegetables, I actually enjoyed their silly banter. We find out how capable Nati is (cooking, cleaning, you name it for six brothers) and Mili actually tells her to wash her hair once in a while and that it's important to smell nice for the fellas. Carmen Salinas does this homey naca thing so well.
Alonso's obsession seems so pathetic now. He's not just a stalker, he's a fool for love. And he looks pretty foolish to me. But with 50 more episodes, I don't see him going away anytime soon. He's gonna be there for Maria when Max's family responsibilities drag their dream of triumph down yet again. And she's gonna fall. I know it and I don't like it.
As to Maria's apparent inconsistency about being religious vs being a mistress, I have one answer for that: Tosca. Novelas and opera have much in common.
What happened to the cosmetic ads Maria was supposed to be in? Shouldn't she have been well-paid for that? She should have received a healthy paycheck for that months ago.
I think it's time for Max to know that Osquito is mini-Gui. It won't matter to him, as he knows that Ximeana and Gui are unfit parents. He's a good father and it's appropriate in view of him being sort-of adopted (by Vic).
As for Alonso's alleged creepiness... after last night... I rest my case.
I loved the sherry scene. Roxana still has a way to go. Our dearly departed Fedra (LldA) would have grabbed the bottle and stuck a straw in it.
The previews were disheartening with Vicky wearing the wig in the police lineup. Does anyone think that the cops bothered to collect DNA samples from it before they stuck it on her head? I don't either.
Lovin' Fer and Cruz (and Fab). I just wish Cruz would learn another song or at east sing the word flor in key. I cringe every time that part of the song approaches.
Max continues to annoy. How difficult can it be? Get a divorce... marry Maria D... live happily ever after... or am I missing something?
Carlos
Y no te preocupes; the two baby boys will still be in nappies.
Os’s tie matches the staff’s uniform.
It's the attention to detail in recaps that is so appreciated. (wink/grin) I'm too busy trying to understand what they say.
I almost feel bad for her…she really doesn’t know she has at least 50 episodes to go…
Ohmidog, you are too funny!
I miss PJP's civilian look, too. IT was much hotter. Wah.
Vic leaves with the police. *My* interpretation of her look was “If you would’ve kept your pecker in your pants, this wouldn’t be happening to me.”
This one cracked me up.
I'm okay with Maria, the product of a convent/orphanage raising, living "in sin" with Max. Since she left the orphanage, she hasn't displayed a whole lot of religiousness, unlike other telenovela heroines.
Xi says she's incapable of betraying Burnie! Wow that captures it all, I nearly spilled my water when I read that.
This is what I don't understand (I know, beanie) if Maria was willing to protect baby Osvaldo by not moving in on Max during her (very short) pregnancy, why doesn't she feel like she should protect the baby from its crazy mother so she can't harm it? It doesn't even make sense that she wouldn't report that incident.
Burnie is such a great villainess, she is fun to watch. I don't know how she controlled herself when Rox gulped down her sherry. Some of that stuff is really pricey.
The Vic setup doesn't make a lick of sense. I would think a witness could identify a vehicle before the driver. I would think that all women with dark hair and sunglasses would look the same!
Rosemary
Urban the look on Bernie's face was just so priceless and hilarious as the no class and vulgar crass Roxanna down her expensive sherry like a shot. I tell you some of the expressions that Daniela Romo is doing for this role have been pure merriment for me. From her enjoying Victoria giving Padilla the smackdown in front of her to her stare down with Padre Jeronimo over the communion wafer too much. She really does deserve a Premio TV Y Novela award for this role.
Yeah I do agree Mewjia and crew have botched the part with Maria being so accepting of being Max's mistress and why isn't he offering her marriage now? The whole gang was at least trying to talk some sense into her about going back to be with Max.
Also the writers dropped the ball on if you have Maria D. cowering in fear and pleading for her life in one episode don't have her in the next one declaring she's not afraid of XXX-factor please are you for real? Plus how stupid are you to place your new born son in harm's way by not pressing charges against that psycho? We can really tell she is Victoria's daughter.
