Triunfo del Amor #82 3/31/11 A triumph of weeping, whining, and wailing

Os wants JP to convince Vic to tell him everything about the mystery kid. Yes, Os, you're always the last one to know. Os wants JP to tell him who the baby daddy is…in fact, he demands it! But Vic says he doesn't have the right to know. Max interrupts this tender scene by dragging Ximena in. Predictable whining ensues. Max carries her upstairs while Os calls the doctor. Vic turns on JP and blames Maria D for Ximena's troubles. She finally asks him what he came for…"I came to talk to Fer, but it seems like Ximena's the one who needs me." Vic gives him permission to talk to her after the doc sees her. But before he can go upstairs, she tells him that if his mom doesn't play ball, Vic will tell everyone that he's the baby daddy. JP says he's got to convince her to soften her heart. Ha! Like that's ever going to happen!

Bernarda and Padilla hate Vic. Yeah, we got that memo. Bernie thinks it's time to drive Vic crazy with problems. She's got a plan, and it's a fun one.

Nathy suggests a big party for JuanJo's dead buddy's baby, but the widow is still very sad and even though she's proud of her husband, but that won't bring him back. Maria D and Milagros come up and Maria tells them that Ximena made a scene. Nathy is pissed! Maria says Ximena will never leave them alone. Milagros says that Ximena is a vieja (old lady, but really "bitch") despechada (spiteful), and spiteful hags are capable of anything! Milagros advises Maria…"Don't misunderstand me, cause I like blondie, especially since he gave me my son back, but it's gonna be hard for him to leave his family, what with his sister, and besides his crazy wife's not gonna just let you take her husband away."

Said crazy wife is continuing to weep. The doc wants her to calm down. She's weak and these frequent freak outs are bad for the baby. He tells Max to keep her calm or the baby won't make it. Ximena just cries louder that she doesn't want to lose the baby and it's all Max's fault, and Maria's…and everyone else's! Wah, wah, wah!

Milagros thinks that Max is just too nice of a guy, and she knows if anything happens to Ximena's baby, Maria's not going to feel good about it. She wants Maria to give up on Max and find another guy. After all, she's young and pretty, and she's got that Eau de Protagonista about her. Maria cries and Milagros hugs all the girls.

Max clenches his jaw and tells the doc that everyone will make an effort to make sure the baby is born healthy. So he can do a DNA test and make sure it's actually his. No, of course not, that would be asking too much. The doctor leaves and Ximena wails even louder. Vic guilts Max about the baby and tells him to think about what he's doing. Then she leaves. JP asks Max to leave him alone with Ximena and Max does. JP smothers Ximena with a pillow. No, wait, sorry, that was my wishful thinking.

Israel's widow introduces Milagros to some of the other neighbors. As everyone's talking about where they come from, a younger woman walks by and introduces herself and the neighbors make fun of her. Israel's widow tells the neighbors that Milagros is a matchmaker and they get all excited. Yeah, she'd have her work cut out for her, trying to match those two! Don Napo comes off and gets them all flustered. He gripes at Milagros for leaving him alone with all those customers and when he starts flirting with the ladies, she hustles him out of there. The neighbors start fighting over who gets dibs on Napo.

JP tells Ximena to chill out already. "You know Max doesn't love you." She says it's just because Maria came between them. Xi invokes the earlier deal, where Max was supposed to stay with her until after the baby was born. She whines until she convinces JP to talk to Max. *sigh*

Maria tries to calm herself down. She tells Nathy that Max isn't going to leave his family while they need him. She'll just have to go it alone. *sigh*

Max tells JP he gets upset every time he thinks about the way Ximena tricked him. JP doesn't want Max and Maria to feel responsible for Ximena losing her baby, so he thinks they need to stop seeing each other. He tells Max that children mean sacrifice and you have to give up everything for them and be willing to change.

Ximena thought bubbles that she's sure JP will convince Max to stay with her, which will buy her more time to plan what she's going to do with Maria. Right. Cause lack of proper time to plan has been your major downfall all this time. She turns the waterworks and the whining back on when Max comes in. Max wants to have a calm conversation. She wants a promise: baby first, then divorce. "Promise me, or I swear you'll never see me or your kid again." Max promises. Dumbass. He wants her to promise to be calm. She does. Liar. "I'll do whatever you say, my love!" Max won't let her smooch on him and leaves the room.

Milagros grouches to Napo about flirting. Napo says the two of them are just friends and he's not ready to settle down anyway. "Or are you jealous?" Milagros denies it.

Vic doesn't want to talk about anything with Os but the kids…the ones they have in common, that is. Micaela comes down with Fer's tray--she's refusing to eat anything. Os goes to talk to her. Oscar needs Vic, but she says Max will have to take care of it. "He can't make this kind of decision!" A large portion of the company has to be sold right away…sales have tanked and a lot of events have been canceled. And the money for Os didn't help. Oscar says even if they mortgage everything, it won't be enough to help. Vic offers to send Max to negotiate with the bank. Oscar is willing to try it. Os tells Vic not to worry--he'll get his money back from Gui.

Max goes to see Maria. She's worried about Ximena. Max says they need to talk.

Gui is hanging out at his swingin' bachelor pad. Os comes to call, interrupting Gui's chillax time. Is he keeping Ofelia's body mummified in some other room of his house? Sorry, distracted. Blah, blah, blah, chit-chat, I want the money back from the theater. "What theater?" "The one I gave you all the money to help buy!" "I don't know what you're talking about. You don't have any proof that you gave me any money, but I, on the other hand, have a paper you signed giving me power of attorney." Oh, so the claws are out now, are they, Gui?

Ximena's freaking out, the baby's in danger, Max doesn't want the baby to die and Maria doesn't want that either. Max starts to promise that when his baby is born…Maria is done with promises. Their relationship has always been impossible, she says. Max wants a chance to prove to her…but Maria thinks it's time to accept reality and get on with their lives. Max will go be with his sister and his wife and be the pillar of the family. Their love just isn't enough. Max wants one more kiss, but Maria says they need to walk in opposite directions and he needs to do it without turning around. Maria walks away. Max walks away. Maria turns around to look at him. Max turns around to look at Maria. They go back to each other and hug and kiss. Maria pushes away from him and walks off. Max cries.

Maria walks in the park.

A photographer gets into his truck. He sees Maria. He sees her holding her belly. He grabs his gear and gets back out of the truck.

Max remembers Maria saying their love is impossible. He decides he doesn't want to lose her.

The photographer takes pictures of Maria watching the kids play in the park. It's a little stalkerrific. He asks all the kids to pose for a picture with their moms. Maria looks at him doubtfully…he's actually taking pictures of her. She keeps it together until the group of kids leaves then starts sobbing. He comes over and tells her not to cry, that whatever it is will be ok. "Sometimes we think that what happens to us in life is the most important thing, but the most important thing is that we're alive. You'll be fine, you just have to calm down. You'll see." Max comes over to beat the guy up.

Gui plays dumb. He says he hasn't defrauded or robbed. "You signed the documents. It's not my fault you didn't read them." It's all legal. The theater belongs to Gui and Gui alone. Os punches him! Fun times! He starts choking him…woo hoo!

Photographer guy is all, "Dude, you hit me!" Max is all, "Dude, you're macking on my woman!" Photographer guy is all, "Dude, she's YOUR woman? No wonder she needed comforting!" Max is all, "Dude, the best thing you can do right now is walk away." Photographer guy is all, "Dude, I know that, but guess what, I'm not gonna…nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah!" They start to fight again and Maria is all, "Dude! [that's Max dude, not other dude] This isn't helping! And besides I, like, JUST broke up with you!" Max is all, "But I don't wanna break up!" Maria is all, "Dude, like you're the only one who doesn't like it?! You gotta go now. This whole thing is just too messy! Just go away and quit making this harder than it already is." Max is all, "OK, fine! But I--------- will always love you-------------…" They're all *smoochies* while the Photographer guy is all, "Cool, it's my turn!" Max leaves.

Os keeps choking Gui. Gui punches him and stumbles away. "Why are you doing this to me?" "Seriously, dude? You have to ask? It's because I hate you, duh! You stole the woman I loved!" Os reminds Gui that Leonela never loved him. "Yes she did! She did until you showed up!" Hm…this sounds familiar. Gui's been waiting for his moment of revenge. And this is as good as it gets? Gui says he orchestrated Vic finding Os in the hot tub with Linda. He pulls out a gun and he and Os fight over it. The gun goes off (mark your BINGO cards!).

Gui got shot. Os calls 911.

Photographer guy apologizes and suggests they start over. He introduces himself as Alonso del Angel. Maria is ready to take off, but he wants to know her name first. He wants to see her again. She laughs and says now's not really a good time. He offers to be friends and to give her a ride to work. Maria doesn't get into strangers' cars, though. He apologizes again and then offers to walk her to work.

Max is back at work, all pissy and taking it out on the office furniture. He tells Fabian that he and Maria broke up and some other guy has already after her. Fabian tells him to just calm the hell down already. Oscar, Toni, and Pip come to tell Max the company is tanking and he's got to save it. Fabian agrees that things have been in the crapper since Vic stopped coming in. Oscar gets a call…he has to leave and he can't give them any details. Toni shows Max a report.

Maria and Nathy are at work, talking about Maria's breakup. I'm sure her boss finds that thrilling. Nathy doesn't like it, it's not fair. Tears and hugs.

Max finishes reading the report. Yes it's that bad. Yes your mother knows. There's an interested investor, but they have a risky proposition--they want to buy a certain percentage of shares or there's no deal. Max says they aren't going to let themselves be blackmailed. He goes to talk to the bank. Fabian hopes he can work a deal.

Max is at the bank, still thinking about Maria. Does the phrase "bigger fish to fry" mean anything to you, Max? Yes, yes, it was a sad breakup. And this whole thing is stupid and created by the stupidity of the couple in question. The bank manager comes in and Max asks him for a loan. The manager says he's heard rumors that they're nearly bankrupt and he's not comfortable loaning them money. Max says they've always paid early. The manager says there's just not enough collateral for them to use. He won't budge.

Sweet William Levy in a Kayak!

Tomorrow: Alonso finds out about the baby before Max; Vic wants Os to sign the divorce papers; Os finds out about the baby; Max finds Xi and Gui's place; Vic finds out they're nearly broke; Xi whines some more and the threatens to throw herself out of Max's car.

I have no idea on the episode number anymore...I'm just going based off of the last numbers anyone posted.

I also haven't watched any episodes since the last one I recapped, and I haven't had time to read the recaps either, so I might have misunderstood some things, who knows.

The show is going well, I just wish the audiences were a little less polite...I'm telling all my friends to please come and be rowdy and laugh when they think something is funny and applaud whenever they want to. And pictures...right...I'll get around to it eventually.

I'm pretty sure you have the episode number right. (Note to self: start including episode #)

A really great recap! I went to bed around 7:30 last night and I appreciate all the detail of this.

Some winning lines:
Eau de Protagonista
...a little stalkerific
Os punches him! Fun Times! He starts choking him... woo-hoo!

I'm glad Maria will have someone who treats her right, even if it is temporary.

5ft-I hope you have a more raucous audience in the future!

Dear 5 foot,

Great recap. I can't stay awake during these 10 episodes so thanks very much for filling in the gaps between snoozes.

I know that they have problems and serious ones, but geez, letting the business go bankrupt or close to it.

In EPDA Alonso was no match in the looks department to Rene Strickler. This Alonso is very attractive. I'm with Milagros: get thee away, Maria D., from the Sandoval clan! There are other options out there.

Poor Padre, a man without any authority or much good sense, even though he certainly seems to have a good heart.

Kat - thank you for the recap, especially your snarkyriffic version of the Maria/StalkerPhotoDude/Max 'conversation' in the park. Standing ovation for that one! LOL

I saw part of this episode last night, but thellorathon did me in, and like Traveling Lady, me entregué a la llamada del sueño.

Photographer guy's stalker behavior creeped me out. yipes. I guess the nuns never told MD --- "never talk to strangers, especially in a park!"

One can only hope Gui dies, but we have too many capítulos left to go.

Thanks, 5ft. Too bad we can't all be in the audience. We'd give you a standing ovation. I would like to see Padre Hottie with a smile. He always looks so sad. Also, I agree that Maria should not talk to strangers in the park. This dude was a little too friendly. As for X....she needs an interest other than hanging onto Max as tightly as she can every chance she gets and squeezing out all those crocodile tears and moans. Basta. As for Vicky, she is always dressed to the nines and perfectly made up and coiffed despite any tragedy that comes her way. And so it goes.

muchísimas gracias 5 ft.

You know Max is going to think Alonso is the daddy, counting to nine is too difficult for him.

Why oh why do they all have to have those scruffy whiskers?

Good morning everyone!

Thanks 5ft for another terrific recap! I also especially loved "eau de protagonista"!

JARDINERA -- PLEASE READ THIS:
Re TdA recaps: Susanita, who wowed us with her debut recap on Tuesday, is volunteering to write the next couple of Tuesdays. But she needs to know in advance so she can sneak the writing into her extremely busy schedule. Is Cielo de Levy recapping again this month? Or can Susanita go ahead and do her recap this weekend without worrying about duplicating someone else's effort?

BTW, Jardinera, I have no way to contact you privately. Would you mind exchanging email addresses through Sara or Melinama (both of whom have been in touch with both of us)? Gracias

Kat, great, wonderful, powerful recap and with your very busy schedule no less. The "Eau de Protagonista" was worth the price of admission today.

I do hope that Gui is dead or at least in a coma until this thing ends. He is really evil and he is gross with the unsuspecting fruit.

Yes, where is Ofelia's body. I would think that Pedro would eventually come back to Mexico and seek her out. Did he stash her in the freezer? (This is becoming its own version of "Clue").

I cannot believe that Vic is ignoring her business after she has worked so hard to be successful. She does not multi-task very well to detriment of her family, friends and now her business. Does she not realize that she will again be at the mercy of Burnie and Padilla? She will be coming full circle with her life?

Rosemary

Great recap!
If the Sandovals are broke why is Jimena still interested in Max?
I also hate all that facial hair. these men would look so much better without it. What's with that?

Isn't it wonderful how the padre and his mother know everything, but don't tell so they can have their power trips.. . .and make everyone suffer in the name of God.

By the way, I love Oz. He seems to operate on something other than power trips, manipulation, and suffering. Doesn't really deserve ALL that is being dumped on him, some yes, but not ALL.

Good points anon1157. Os is becoming a more sympathetic character to me too.

Ahhhh, 5ft.!! The Dude on Dude had me ROFLOL. Thanks for the guffaws.
============
Traveling Lady:
I am enthralled with photo dude's "look" myself. Alonso's very easy on the eyes. Have never seen him before in anything. Hope "Lonnie" stays at Uni for a while. It needs new blood.

NovelaMaven: I will connect through Sara for you and Susanita asap!

Jardinera- Alonso is also in Para Volver a Amar right now. In that he has a very different look-- clean cut, clean shaven, and usually in a suit.

I am glad that Maria will now have someone to amuse her and care for her while Max figures out his messy life. The only thing I feel bad about is that Max doesn't know she's pregnant. Other than not revealing that truth, I fully support Maria's other choices-- ending things while he figures out what he's doing and takes care of his family, and taking care of herself and striving to get ahead.

Alonso was a bit stalkerish, but I have often heard of famous models being discovered this way. Where someone in the business is struck by their look and comes up to them on the street. In addition to being a possible love interest, I am hoping that Alonso is a famous photographer who will make Maria into a famous print model. Forget this runway stuff. From the preview, it looks like Maria being pregnant is not a turn off for Alonso. My sister met the 2nd love of her life while she was pregnant by the first love of her life (who had cheated on her, which is why she dumped him). The 2nd love of her life was a wonderful man (he died young) and became a better father to my nephew than his bio-dad. I like Max, but right now I'm rooting for Alonso.

I understand your feeling about the audience. Sometimes the material is the reason for a more restrained reaction. What's the play about?

I am shocked that Ximeana has gotten away with her whiny behaviour for even this long. One would think that Fer or the maid would have called her on her crap by now. Other women should be better able to spot her phony "poor little me" act than any man.

Gui is gong to be with us until the end, abusing a lot more fruit along the way. Don't forget we still don't know who put the live bullets in the gun. Not to mention finding out how he disposed of Ofelia's body.

We can certainly count on there being a legal battle between Os and Gui before that moves forward.

Kat, thanks for another terrific recap. I think you should trademark "Eau de Protagonista." Is it a floral top note, with a deep spicy undertone and the salty tang of tears?
The "dude on dude" scene in the park was hilarious! Alonso del Angel!?! Puhleeze! He is easy on the eyes, I must admit.

Rosemary, I agree with "I do hope that Gui is dead or at least in a coma until this thing ends. He is really evil and he is gross with the unsuspecting fruit."

Lots of plot threads and drama right now. And sweet Williams propels his kayak, desperately trying to stay afloat on top of the troubled waters of Los Sandoval and associates.
La Paloma

Kat thanks for the recap still LOL you have the correct number on the episodes.

Urban remember Miceala kept quiet about Os's affair so i can't see her opening her mouth about XXX-factor. Fer is kind of preoccupied by her accident and Victoria please this is the daughter in law of her choice even though now she admits and recognizes Max doesn't love her she still prefers her over Maria E.

Speaking of Victoria now she has the trifecta her marriage is over and her family is falling apart mainly because of her dictatorship and now her business is going bankrupt.

If i remember correctly in the EPDA version Maria wasn't as lenient and understanding after Max married XXX-factor she wasn't going to allow herself to be made into a mistress. In this version i don't like how Maria has so easily accepted Max back into her life. It's about time she accepted them splitting up until he learns to stop giving into the emotional blackmail.

I don't remember who coined Eau de Protagonista, but it wasn't me!

The show is called Stop the World - I Want to Get Off! It was a Tony award winner and it's the story of a guy who spends his life chasing women and satisfying his own ambitions. It's a comedy, but a lot of the humor is about classism and cultural stereotypes. Maybe it makes people uncomfortable? Then again a lot of what I would guess is most likely to offend ends up getting the biggest laughs and the loudest applause. What I've been hearing is that people aren't sure if it's ok to laugh, especially in the middle of a song or someone's lines, or what have you.

5ft, isn't one of the songs, "Send in the clowns" appropriate for this novela. Good song.

By the way, Tatoo Boy (aka Federico) made an appearance last night in Teresa. He does not have tatoos.

Kat, thanks for brightening my afternoon. Sounds like the show is a huge success. Pictures, por favor.
Very funny stuff, especially the showdown in the park...

"They're all *smoochies* while the Photographer guy is all, 'Cool, it's my turn!'"

Excellent.

Ximena is annoying but effective. Too bad she's not taking care of her trump card.

Carlos

Vivi i saw him too i was like where are his fake tattoos?

Vivi i
m wondering if you're watching Erick Elias in Nina De Corazon i know you're a fan of his?

Blu- Julia is an even bigger fan of Erik E. He's her telenovio. But her enthusiasm for NdMC was infectious and now I have been recording the show and watching a few episodes on the weekends. It seems like Erik is always paired with the really young actress to play his novia (I'm thinking teenaged Alison Loz, and now this actress). This is her first role. I find her very cute and endearing, if not a great actress (yet), but I find it strange that she really is a high school aged girl, being pursued by a man. She has no idea how to kiss either! But, what a great teacher to have. Lucky girl! :)

I don't see the two situations as comparable because... Ximeana doesn't sign her paychecks. She's also a leech and likely to abuse her status in the household.

Anyway, it's high time both Maria and Xi start showing. Max will find out soon and Victoria won't like it one bit.

Vivi i find it very disturbing how they pair up these young teenage girls with grown men on the novelas makes me think this what these men who control the industry are wanting for themselves. I noticed she can't kiss yet but by the time this novela is over she should be up to snuff.WHat is Alison Lozz doing now i wonder last time we talked about her wasn't she trying to become a singer?

Urban i disagree besides Victoria is so focus on the health of her nieto she doesn't care if XXX-factor complains about Miceala guess who's going to be on the losing end of that battle? Still waiting for the family to tell her to knock off the pills and booze. Like that's not effecting the baby it's only Max wanting to leave her to be with the woman he truly loves that is jeopardizing the baby.

Looks like we're going to get a jump in time because from the preview Os discovers Maria E. is pregnant.

I had Teresa on last night, where or when did tattoo guy appear?

Blu- Your question about Allison Lozz led me to look up what she's up to. She was actually already a successful singer.

Well guess what. She's married and retired from acting and singing, at age 18! I'm serious! She married her 22 year old boyfriend of 4 months in January and announced her retirement from public life to be a housewife and dedicate herself to her religion. She says that stardom was too much stress and was making her ill. But the whole thing just seems so drastic for one so young. Check out this video interview of her with her husband in Feb and tell me if it doesn't seem like she's uncomfortable. She looked so much more free and happy during the Cristina interviews I saw after her shows. I've also added a link to the article.

Video interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gfif5suBkh8&feature=player_embedded

Article: http://bit.ly/hNnMO6

Vario- He was the guy Teresa was flirting with at the party.

Vivi that is so crazy she's only 18 makes me think maybe her parents were pushing her into acting and now that she is 18 she decided she can't deal with the pressure of stardom or perhaps her family was putting on her to be a star. We probably won't know until years later why she is doing this? Wow this so unbelievable!

By the way, I know I crossed the "no gossip about the actors' lives" line with the Allison Lozz story, but I will miss seeing this talented young actress in new novelas, and that's the last thing I'll say about it. :)

Vivi i agree Allison is a very talented young actress i hope maybe after sometime away she might change her mind. But i wish her good luck with her decision.

I may be in the minority, but on Mark Tacher I prefer the stubbly look. I'm not wild about his straight-laced, clean-shaven persona on PVaA.

I *thought* that was RTSB at the tail end of Teresa last night!!!
