Teresa Fri 5/20/11 #61 “Just When I thought I was out, they pull me back in.” – Michael Corleone, and now Mariano.

OMIGOSH!!!! Tere has just seen Mariano and Aida sharing a kiss. ¡Guau! She’s so impactada by what she’s just witnessed that Aurora asks if she’s ok. Tere tells her she just needed some air. She can’t believe she’d run into Mariano here. Aurora’s not surprised. Mariano’s coming up in the world, he’s becoming a VIP (Very Importante Papacito). As Mariano and Aida seem to be enjoying each other, Aurora tells her he’s a gifted doctor whose calidad humana (human quality) has garnered him the respect and admiration of many. Tere sees that he’s learned to network and now even has office space at the hospital, who knew a 3 peso clinic in the vecindad would grow into all this. Aurora proudly tells her that his low-cost clinic project has opened doors for him and authorities are very pleased with it. He’s realizing all his dreams. Tere is ready to cry as she looks again at Mariano and Aida getting close. Aurora steers her back to the subasta (auction).

Aida tells Mariano that kissing him made her feel as though she were cheating on Paulo, the loss is still so fresh. It’s still difficult for her and at times feels as though she can’t even get out of bed. He encourages her to keep trying to overcome her grief. She thanks him for being there for her. He tells her that inside esta niña mimada (spoiled) there’s a woman with a big heart. He holds her face in his hands. She apologizes for the kiss and hopes it doesn’t cause him to keep his distance. He tells her they both let themselves go and besides, he kissed her. They share a few more pecks. Wow.

Casa Caceres: Speaking of smooching – Rubigote has Mayra on the couch. She pushes him off telling him she feels like such a fool, the one everyone points to as the wife who’s husband was cheating and she had no idea what was going on. He tells her that’s not true and besides the only ones who know are Arturo and Genoveva (um…and Teresa, Mariano, Dr. Ledesma, Aurora, Juana). She can’t stop thinking of him with that other woman. He keeps trying to minimize everything, saying it’s all in the past. She’s tormented, not knowing when he’s lying or when he’s telling the truth. She thinks of all the times he probably came home after being with “her”. He gives up. He realizes no matter how he tries, she’ll never forgive him. That’s right, she says. She’s insecure and feels that he’s deceiving her. Then she tells him to leave. ¡Vete! He gives it one more try, telling her it was a stupid mistake, he didn’t know what he was doing, blah, blah, blah, you know the drill. And if you don’t, lucky you! Then he has the audacity to tell her it made him valorarte más (appreciate her more). He reaches for her and she steps back. He realizes that it’s inútil (useless), he’s lost her. He leaves and she’s a wreck.

Fundraiser: Art wonders what’s wrong with Teresa cuz Tiburoncita is looking a little glum around the gills. And I’m wondering why of all days, she is wearing skin tight jeans. She wears cocktail dresses to work but jeans to a cocktail party—what gives? Before she can reply, Aurora walks up all cheery and happy the event was such a success and she’s happy for the foundation and happy for Martin—hell, she’s just happy. Tere, taking a page out of Refugly’s rulebook, takes this opportunity to ask if Aurora is truly happy with Martin, has she already forgotten about Mariano? Aurora tells her she’s decided to move on and give Martin a chance because Mariano will never be able to forget Teresa. She can’t go through life waiting for him. Tere’s happy for her. Then she admits she and Martin started off with el pie izquierdo (left foot=on the wrong foot). She promises she’ll make an effort to put things right for Aurora’s sake. She also realizes she hasn’t been very nice lately. She’s been under so much pressure but promises to change her ways. Aurora reminds her of the promise not to keep things from her and Tere never told her about Paloma. Tere thought Martin had told her, then proceeds to tell her the Paloma/Arturo/wedding-that-never-happened story. She also fills her in on Paloma’s threat to do the impossible to get Arturo back. With Martin being Paloma’s apoderado, it puts Tere against the wall because he’s also dating Aurora.

Arturo is talking to Martin and tells him Teresa is besties with Aurora. Martin didn’t have a clue. Arturo also asks about the artist of the painting Aida bought in the auction. Tere loved it so much he’d like her to see more of his work. He thinks Tere let Aida buy it out of kindness, knowing Aida really liked the painting. Paloma overhears and tells him the artist is Santiago (didn’t catch last name), a good friend of hers. They chitchat about him wanting to please Tere, he not wanting to hurt Paloma, she being hurt anyway. Then she does it again – she doesn’t want him to marry Teresa. The name Paloma fits her, dignity and self respect have flown out the window!

Vecindad: Espe tells Hernán el Galán she’s not comfortable going to Tere’s wedding because she might run into Ruben and ruin the whole fiesta. She can’t stand the thought of seeing him with his wife. Hernán agrees she shouldn’t go and Tere should understand her situation.

Fundraiser: Mariano is standing alone looking at the painting Aida bought. Tere walks up to him and sarcastically says she’s impressed to find the esteemed Dr. Sanchez here and recognizes that he’s rising rapidly. He asks if she regrets her lack of confidence and asks why she’s talking to him. She tells him he should be grateful for everything she did for his career (the nerve!). He acknowledges that thanks to her, he resumed his studies; however, he achieved everything else on his own. She feels that if she hadn’t split with him and stung his pride, he wouldn’t be where he is today. He disagrees saying he would have achieved everything no matter what because unlike her, he doesn’t manipulate others no matter the cost to their feelings. Controlling everything is the only way to guarantee results, she responds. That may be her opinion, he says. But he appreciates what life offers him. At this point Aida rushes up to him and hugs him from behind. Tere is speechless and storms off, leaving them standing there smiling at each other. Tere goes to Arturo, who is still talking with Paloma, and tells him it’s time to leave. She’s very tired. She makes sure to tell Paloma they’re very busy with wedding plans. After all, the wedding is on Saturday.

Casa de la Barrera: Juana and Hector the Director arrive home from dinner. I must say Juana looks very nice and I’m so glad she got rid of that braid! They chit chat about dinner and look at a photo they took together – very nice. He’s so nervous, it’s cute, stammering and stuttering about this being a memorable evening and possibly doing something again soon. She eventually asks him to accompany her to the wedding. Yay! I’m sure these two won’t end up together but I so want them to. My offer still stands Hector! I’ll date you!

Geno’s house AKA any port in a storm: Ruben playfully asks if she’ll let him stay tonight or is she very angry because he went with Mayra to the subasta? Of course she’ll take him, no matter where’s he’s been. She’s not going to give him drama like Mayra does. Ugh.

Casa de la Barrera: Juana and Tere are talking about their dates. Tere is very happy Hector is to be Juana’s date for the wedding. Juana steps away and Tere runs to her nightstand where poor Teddy has been relegated to a drawer! She lets him out for air and begins speaking to Mariano via Bear: he can’t possibly be with Aida, especially now that he’s almost where she always wanted him to be. No worry, their paths will cross again. They may be apart for now, consiguiendo lo necesario (achieving what’s necessary), she’ll divorce, and then their paths can be reunited. What a wack job! At least she didn’t suffocate Teddy this time. I was worried for him.

Casa Caceres: Aida arrives all bubbly and cheerful. She wonders why she didn’t see mom there. Mayra explains she didn’t feel comfortable with all those people and fingiendo (pretending) everything is ok. Aida thinks she did the right thing considering Mayra’s always told her to play hard to get. Mayra notices Aida seems awfully chipper. Aida confesses it’s thanks to Mariano. He’s not the naco she thought him to be. Gee that’s nice. Anyway, she says she was very wrong about him. Mayra agrees he’s a nice guy. Aida seems sincere, at least I haven’t seen anything to think she’s using him even though that’s what she set out to do.

Tere’s bedroom: Juana’s giving her an update on the bridesmaids’ dresses. Juana wonders if it’s such a good idea for Espe to attend considering she’s likely to run into Ruben and his wife. That’s precisely what Tere wants. It’s not right that Espe have a child without a father. She’s determined to help Espe and doesn’t care if there’s a scandal at her wedding. Juana’s worried this will cause a problem with Arturo. Tere doesn’t know how she’s going to manage it, but Ruben has to do right by Espe.

Morning at Casa de la Barrera and an envelope has arrived for Juana. It’s a large homemade card from Cutberto and looks like a collage of flowers. He’s written, “These flowers will never die, the same as my love for you. With all my heart, Cutberto.” She sighs, “ay, Cutberto.”

Clinica: Aurora says Martin told her the auction recaudó (collected) more than expected. She tells Mariano she saw him with Aida. He’s decided to move on and give it a go with Aida. He thanks Aurora and tells her she has no idea the part she played in getting him to reaccionar (react). When he saw that she was novios with Martin he decided to….. “To what?” asks Aurora. To do the same and try with someone else. Aurora sarcastically remarks he decided rather quickly to try with Aida. She’s a little huffy and takes off her lab coat. He’s all, duh? She wishes them both well and rushes off. Mariano’s left wondering QTH?

Casa de la Barrera: They’re at the breakfast table when Armando walks in reporting for duty and announces that Refugio has agreed to attend the wedding. Armando gives credit to Arturo who says he wanted to try because he knows how important it is to Tere. (gag) Tere smiles but isn’t jumping for joy.

Clinic: Ramon is excitedly showing Mariano travel brochures saying it’s been ages since they’ve taken a vacation. Mariano’s not fooled and knows dad’s just trying to distract him on the day of Tere’s wedding. He tells him he’s been on a date but not with whom. Aida comes bouncing in and gives Mariano a peck on the lips and Ramon is very happy to see this. She announces she’s going to give the clinic a makeover.

Casa de la Barrera: Tere’s ogling over all the gifts they’ve received and plans to thank everyone personally. She’s even ordered thank you cards with her married name. Arturo’s a bit underwhelmed and tells her he’s concerned over the whole Ruben/Mayra/Espe affair and the perfect storm that could ensue at their wedding.

Casa de Geno: She’s fussing with Ruben’s tie and he’s talking about the wedding, saying it’s turning into one big headache. She doesn’t want to pressure him but she’d sure like to go with him to the wedding. She tries to downplay his concerns by saying Aida wouldn’t be caught dead at that wedding and Mayra is too dignified to create a scandal. She thinks it’s best he not reconcile with Mayra just yet…so they can go together. Smoochies

Casa de la Barrera: Discussion of how to avoid the perfect storm continues between Arturo and Tere. She’s pouting that apparently her friends aren’t as important as his business partners. She feels this is due to that “lie” invented by Aida and Ruben. Since Tere is sure it was Espe who sent the divorce papers, he thinks it’s likely she’ll cause a problem. Tere reluctantly agrees to uninvite Espe and pouts.

Clinica: Aida says the makeover won’t cost a cent. One of her mother’s businesses is donating all the paint. Mariano tells her she’ll have to learn how to paint cuz it’s all DYI at the vecindad. He wonders if her mother’s ok with all this. Mom’s fine with it. After all she’s grateful Mariano stopped her from jumping off that bridge. Mariano kisses her.

Ruben accosts Espe outside the vecindad, throwing her against the wall. He warns her not to even think of going to that wedding or she’ll know full well who Ruben Caceres is. At that very moment, Mariano and Aida are walking out arm in arm. Holy Moly!

Casa de la Barrera: Tere agrees that Espe shouldn’t be at the wedding. After all Ruben is his partner, his friend. Tere’s sooo accommodating.

Showdown at the Vecindad: Luckily, Aida is so into hugging Mariano that she doesn’t see Daddy Dearest attacking Baby Mama. Mariano quickly steers her back into the vecindad on some pretext just as Espe breaks free from Ruben, telling him he’s hurting her. He says he’ll hurt her even more if she doesn’t listen to him. Eek! Tere’s her friend and she wouldn’t think of ruining her wedding. He could care less about that and forbids her to attend the wedding. He doesn’t want to run the risk of her causing a scandal in front of the whole world. They’re at a standoff, sizing each other up.

Casa de la Barrera: Tere agrees to rescind Espe’s invitation even though it pains her to do so but after all she is the amante. She accepts Arturo’s offer to speak with Ruben. She wants him to tell Ruben she’s uninviting Espe as a show of faith to prove to him she wasn’t the one who sent those divorce papers. Art suggests they do something nice for Espe to make up for it and offers to help her in any way he can. So they’re all set. Now, on to more important business: it’s all about Tere, Tere, Tere. Look at all the wonderful gifts they’ve received. They’ve received everything she put on the bridal registry and more. Everything is so posh and so expensive. She’s sure they would’ve received a car if they had asked for one.

Clinica: Aida wonders why Mariano brought her back inside. He tells her he wanted to spend more time with her and then starts kissing her.

Casa Chavez: Juana will put the finishing touches on Refugio’s dress and tells her Teresa and Arturo are both very happy she’s coming. Refugio prays they’ll have a good marriage and that Tere truly loves him. She asks Juana to make up with Cutberto who walks in just then. Juana reminds him she no longer wants to have anything to do with him. Just because he sent her a card doesn’t change anything. Juana tells him to leave because Hector’s coming to pick her up. He’s a real gentleman who knows how to win over a woman. Cutberto reminds her he won her over once and will do so again. She chases him out.

Casa de la Barrera: Arturo is meeting with Ruben telling him about his conversation with Teresa agreeing that Espe will not attend the wedding. Ruben’s grateful but doubts Mayra will go with him. He’s tried unsuccessfully to reconcile with her. Arturo’s didn’t believe he’d be able to patch things up with Mayra so quickly. By the way, he’s confirmed with Teresa that she didn’t send those divorce papers and he believes her. Otherwise, why would she have agreed to uninvite her friend. Ruben says they’ll just have to disagree. Arturo will always believe Teresa and he’ll always believe his daughter. In the end, time will tell who was right.

Vecindad: Tere’s visiting with Espe putting her own spin on the invitation or un-invitation. She tells Espe that it was Ruben who asked that she not attend the wedding. Espe tells her about Ruben’s earlier visit and is actually afraid of what he may capable. Tere assures her they’ll find a way to get even with him. Espe’s not interested. She just wants to be left alone and doesn’t want him to find out about her baby. Tere raises her eyebrows.

Casa Caceres: Ruben wants to know if Mayra plans on going to the wedding with him. She prefers to stay home with Aida. They are both in agreement that may be best given Aida’s depression. Mayra fills him in on the new BF. Some guy named, Mariano Sanchez!!! WHAT, WHAT? Ruben goes ballistic. No way is she going to keep dating ese tipejo (character).

Vecindad: Said tipejo and Aida are leaving the vecindad again but not before he makes sure the coast is clear. She’s excited about the clinic makeover. She’s really feeling that life has given her another opportunity.

Casa Caceres: Ruben’s describing Mariano as that one-time messenger from his office. Mayra reminds him he too was once a regular employee at her father’s business. That was different, he says. He worked very hard to get ahead. Mayra: So has Mariano and now he’s a doctor. Is he afraid history will repeat itself? Ruben won her dad’s confidence. Why couldn’t Mariano do the same? Ruben says he doesn’t know, there’s just something about him he doesn’t like. It’s not like Aida’s a solterona (old maid) that jumps at the first man that comes along. Mayra says it’s not like she’s getting married. Mariano’s been a good friend and has consoled her, helped her – nothing more.

Casa Chavez: Tere thanks Espe for being so understanding about having her invitation rescinded. Espe thinks it’s best and takes this opportunity to voice her opinion that Tere not marry Arturo when she’s in love with Mariano. Speak of the devil, Dr. Mariano is at the door wanting to speak with Espe. Aurora also arrives to pick up her dress for the wedding. She and Tere rush off. Mariano asks about Ruben’s visit. Espe explains he doesn’t want her at the wedding. He tells her about the close call with Aida. He doesn’t want that infeliz coming around and run the risk of seeing Aida. Aida’s going through enough without running into Espe too. He immediately apologizes, saying that didn’t come out right. She understands. She doesn’t want to hurt Aida either.

Juana’s: Tere and Aurora arrive at Juana’s. She’s not there and Aurora asks Tere how things are going. Thinking she’ll make Aurora jealous, she tells her all about the kiss between Mariano and Aida at the fundraiser. Aurora knows because he told her. She’s come to the realization that nothing will ever happen between her and Mariano. He sees her as just a friend. Tere can’t believe she’d give up so easy. Aurora is dating Martin. She’s happy if Mariano can find happiness with Aida. Tere’s just not getting it. Aurora tells her if you love someone you want them to be happy. [Sharkitas are lone hunters, if someone you love is happy with someone else, you attack.] Tere insists Aurora should’ve tried harder. Aurora thinks things happen for a reason. Tere’s happy with Arturo and she and Martin, well, they’re getting there. She’s not going to lie and say it doesn’t hurt but if Mariano is happy with Aida, then…. Tere almost jumps out of her little bolero sweater. Aida can’t end up with Mariano! She’s always hated her and she just can’t end up with Mariano, not that she’s jealous or anything.

Clinic: Ramon’s off to Acapulco and tells Mariano he’s much happier leaving him after seeing him with that muchachita, Aida.

Juana’s apt: Juana’s fitting Aurora for her bridesmaid’s dress and is commenting it’s too bad Esperanza has decided not to attend but it’s best that she doesn’t see “that man” again. Aurora wonders what Ruben would think if he knew Aida was working at the clinic and so close to Mariano. Oops! She shouldn’t have said that out loud. Tere’s wheels are turning and suddenly decides she needs to go see daddy. She thanks Aurora for being her Dama de Honor (maid of honor). Aurora gets nostalgic and remembers how they talked about their wedding day when they were still in la prepa. Tere remembers saying that she would go to Aurora’s to get ready for her wedding. Juana thinks that’s still a good plan so Arturo doesn’t see her before the wedding. Tere agrees but I think she’s cooking up another scheme.

Mariano’s apt: Ay Papacito! We get some eye candy with Mariano answering the door wearing only a towel. Hubba, hubba! Teresa appreciates the view as well and takes it all in. I’m glad he isn’t polite when he asks what she’s doing there. She doesn’t appreciate his attempt at provoking her by kissing Aida when he knew she was watching. [egads, for such a smart girl, she still acts like she’s in la prepa sometimes]. He denies it all – it wasn’t planned and he didn’t know she was standing there, and to tell her the truth, he liked it! He liked kissing Aida! Teresa is muy, pero muy impactada!

Ruben’s office: Ruben has become aware that Aida donated her wedding gifts and thinks that was a nice thing to do. What he’s not happy about is her going to that vecindad and hanging out with that tipo Mariano. Aida feels she’s a bit grandecita (diminutive form of grande) for him to tell her who she can hang out with. His little princess has grown up and is starting a new etapa (stage) of her life. He should be grateful to Mariano. He’s been the best of friends to her. Ruben scoffs. Aida informs him she has no plans to stop seeing Mariano. Well, daddy’s not scoffing now.

Papacito’s apt: Tere insists he knew she was standing there. He’s got news for her, the world doesn’t revolve around her. Aida’s a very cute chava who could attract anyone. Our self-centered sharkita thinks this is just another ploy to make her jealous. Well, she could care less about Aida. Mariano’s glad to hear that because then it won’t bother her to see them together. No, no, she says, he’s the one who’ll be bothered seeing her. She’ll be here often visiting her parents and they’re destined to run into each other very often. Well she’s wrong, he tells her. The days where all she had to was snap her fingers and he’d come running are over. She tests him by running her fingers over his fabulous abs then walks away. She still sees in his eyes the love he has for her, his desire for her. Is he going to tell her he no longer loves her? Cue the Jaws theme as she approaches him. Whew! Great time for a little break!

Chavez home: Refugio and Armando are embarrassed, but they ask Aurora to help them. They show her the etiquette book Teresa gave them and would like her to give them lessons. Aurora agrees and has an idea.

Papacito’s apt: Tere is running her hand over Mariano’s chest. He stops her and admits he still loves her and likes her. However, she left him for another and he has the right to go out with Aida or anyone else. That can’t happen, she says, because he loves her and only her. Then she grabs him and starts kissing him and he kisses her back of course as the Teresa/Mariano, Teresa/Arturo theme plays. He maneuvers her over to the couch and they continue.

Juana’s apt: Hector the Director has come a-callin’. He’s so cute and appears to be so nervous. He knows he may appear to moving too fast but he’s too old to waste time. What he wants to know is, will she agree to be his novia? Novia? At their age? Well, whatever. She’s a fool if she says no.

Restaurant: Sweet Aurora has arranged for Martin to provide instructions to Cutberto, Refugio, and Armando at his restaurant. Armando explains they’re very interested in proper table manners.

Papacito’s apt: ruh-roh! They’ve moved to the bedroom. Teresa is moving in for the kill, the floosy!
Casa de la Barrera: Arturo (the cuckold) and Luisa chit-chat about Fernando staying in touch via computadora. He wants her opinion on a surprise he’s getting ready for his bride. Not as good as the surprise she’s cooking up at this very moment with papacito.

Speaking of which, they’re now under the sheets taking a break. She tells him he’s the only man in her life and she’s never (jamás) stopped loving him. He tells her how much he’s missed her, “ay, Teresa, mi Teresa. Cuanto te amo.” Then they start again and we see several shots of her left hand sans engagement ring. Ay caray, Mariano just when I thought you were out, she pulls you back in!

Comments:
I don't know who I'm more disappointed in, Teresa or Mariano. Teresa's a mala hembra so this was expected of her. But damn Mariano, I really thought he was going to kick her out! Teresa will do anything to keep stringing him along until she has enough money I guess. When she's done with Arturo, is Fernando next? and then she'll come back to Mariano? I know she'll never have enough money, power, or prestige.

I'm sure the wedding takes place because we've seen her coming down the aisle in promos. Do they have that phrase in Mexican weddings: is there anyone here who feels this marriage should not take place...etc? Will Aida try to stop the wedding? Will Mariano get all "Graduate" on us and bust up the wedding screaming: Teresa!

What will the morning after bring? Will she sneak back to Arturo's without waking Mariano? Can't wait til Monday!

Teresa only did that b/c Aida was kissing him.

Teresa will have to keep this one to herself. She can't gloat to Aida --Aida will runteldat to Arturo, wrecking Teresa's plans.

Teresa is a control freak just like Refusio.

Ay, Paquita, I'm with you. I knew the moment would come when we would see Tere and Mar still profess "undying love", but not this soon and the wedding day? (And so help me, she winds up pregnant and we get the whole "who's the baby daddy...) But I will heartily admit when he stood there staring, I was thinking, Oh...some hot action for a change. My son who came home and was waiting for the show to end so he could watch the Indians just laughed and said "Dude, you know you want to- go for it so I can watch the game."

I felt bad that Mar caved, but in the long run, this may be what needed to happen to open his eyes. I think she may have over-played her card, becuase if she walks out on him again now, I think he will be totally done with her.I don't think he'll chase after her. Any iota of trust he had in her will vanish. She would have treated him like a boy-toy and he has more pride than that. I hope.

And taking credit for what he has accomplished ...OMG. My beanie wanted to explode.

Tere brings out the sad-sack in him. With Aida or Aurora(if he gets the light bulb to go on there), they make him laugh and smile and are proud of what's he's doing. Never thought I would admit it, but I thought that Aida and Mar were very cute in that first kissing scene and looked good together talking to his dad at the clinic.

I'm getting bored with the whole Ruben thing - best thing for all those women would be to have him step out in front of a bus. Then Aida can take over the business, etc. and become partners with Artie. Yeah-that would be fun!

Well, the end of the world didn't happen, so I'm off to enjoy the sun and get groceries since now we have to eat.

Wow.... last nights show was so good and action packed. I wish they would let this show go back to being 2 hours instead of TdA.

The look on Teresa's face was priceless when she saw Aida and Mariano kissing. I had to look at that scence twice. And from the looks of it both Mariano and Aida suoer enjoyed it. I have to say I didn't see this pair coming. Aida started out only trying to use Mariano but it seems like she really likes him now. I still want him with Aurora but I don't to much mind the Mar and Aida thing.

My other OMFG moment of the night was looking at Mariano in nothing but a towel. That man knows he's hot!!! N e way the second OMFG came when Teresa had sex with Mariano the day before her wedding. My jaw dropped and I laughed. Not because it was like the ha ha type of funy but the ha ha because it's sad. Because Arturo is so happy about his wedding.

daisaynjay: ITA about Ruban. I'm getting tired of that scumbag always putting his hands on Espe. I hope is downfall is extra nasty. LMAO about the end of the world not coming and you getting groceries.

That was a really great recap, Paquita. There was a lot of dialogue, and I missed a lot of it.
I am disappointed that Mar didn't send Tere packing, but then I realized that is what he should do if he wants her back, would be to coldly but politely say, hope you have a nice life, bye! But then I am not so hot to have him get back with her. Tere is another one of those malignant narcissists TNs are so fond of featuring. These people need deflation at depth to recover.
I shudder to think of the TN justice that is in store for Ruben...
ITA Anon207-Tere and Ref are much alike in temperament if not in their values.

Paquita, thank you for your wonderful and hilarious recap. Love your editorial comments. I must have missed the part where Espe decides on her own she doesn't want to go to the wedding because when Tere uninvited her I was shocked at how easily she took it. The scene makes so much more sense to me now. I appreciate your filling in the blanks for us.

@Daisy - I knew you were the author of your comment at your first paragraph when you quoted your son. He's a funny guy.

Ruben is a jerk and a stupid one at that. He wants to keep Espe a secret yet he stalks her at work and home. Deep down inside he must want to get caught.

@Paige - I almost dropped my glass of wine on the floor when Mariano stepped out in his towel. My goodness you could bounce quarters off those abs of his.

Thanks again Paquita!

I forgot to say, excellent title.

Re: Tere and Mariano hooking up, I think I am more disappointed in Mariano. I rather expect that sort of behavior from Teresa. I was hoping that Mariano had learned some self-control. Guess not.

Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Mariano, just when I was starting to respect you! At least he's pleasant to look at while he's doing stupid things. Teresa had better not get knocked up; I want Mariano free and clear to move on to Aurora.

Thanks for the excellent and detailed recap!

Thank you for the great recap Frances!

And thank you too Samantha and Kristoise! I had them saved for my trip back home and now I have read them all. I hope all went well with your extractions Samantha, I took two of mine three years ago and I wish I would have done away the other two too because they are trying to come out now.

I think Mariano's weakness is Teresa, I wasn't surprised by this development but thanks to it I won't feel sorry for him if she breaks his heart again. I do feel sad for Arturo, I think he actually can see a little deviousness in Teresa and not just that but he likes it too. But he believes she is ultimately harmless and the sad fact is that he is the one she's hurting the most by lying and cheating.

Funny thing, this novela was so successful in México but at the same time so polarizing about what should happen to the characteres in the end that many camps kept pushing for different resolutions which created a great expectative. In te end, the producer decided to shoot three different finales to:

1)see which one he liked the best,
2)avoid the end being spoiled since not even the actors knew which ending would air, and
3)create an even bigger expectative.

Well, now this novela finished in Venezuela where it was a success as well and the same thing happened, but the executives of Venevisión (the network that aired it there) decided to make the audience vote for what the finale they prefered.

In the end, the finale shown in Venezuela yesterdar was not the one shown in México. In fact, the resolutions were quite different.

Jarocha

Ooo, Jarocha, you'll have to let us know what the two alternate endings are after the Teresa finale in the U S whenever that will be.. I assume we'll see the Mexico ending. Thanks for your interesting info from Mexico.

Paquita, a funny and wonderful recaps as always...so many humorous asides.

Mariano should have known better because he was betraying Arturo since the wedding is what.... 24 hours away. That is morally wrong but I guess Mariano thinks Teresa will cancel her wedding at the last minute because of their their tryst. Mariano, you may be a bright doctor but you're not too bright if you think Teresa will change her mind. At least, I don't think she'll change her mind unless it's at the last minute. I wouldn't bet on it. I think the promos showed bride and groom in wedding attire.

GinCA

Frances- Another winning recap. Thank you. I don't know if I'm disappointed, so much as now holding my breath for when the crap hits the fan when Teresa dumps Mariano yet again. Surely, this will be the last time he lets her use him. But she had to use desperate measures to prevent him from falling for Aida. And Aida seems to genuinely be falling for Mariano, apart from her revenge plans.

Poor Espe. Her whole situation seems so stressful. Not good for baby. I think Dr. Ledesma should take her away and have her live with him. :)

Jarocha- So good to see you here. Is your school year finished? That's interesting that they filmed three different endings. I'm sure this group would be just as divided as Mexico was over what the end should be. How great that Venezuela saw a whole different ending. I wonder what they will do in the U.S.? Were people in Mexico satisfied with the end they showed and was there any way people could watch the other two endings?

If I were to vote today (meaning a few episodes back I would have voted differently, and I'll probably vote differently in a few more episodes), this is what I'd vote for:
-Teresa would end up alone and scorned.
-Mariano would end up with Aurora.
-Arturo would meet some new woman.
-Martin would meet some new girl.
-Luisa's old boyfriend would come back.
-Fernando and Aida would waltz off to Spain together.
-Espe and Ledesma (of course)
-Juana and Hector
-Cutberto and Zelda the maid
-Paloma would get over it and meet someone new.
- The Bigote and Geno would end up broke with only each other for company.
-Maira and a new man.

The promos make us think Ter will leave Art at the altar. I think I heard Mar say something about a plan to Ter, follow our plan is what I think he said.
But seeing Art in his tux, it would just be too painful for him to be left again. So I doubt they are going in that direction. Because it would destroy the Art character and it is still to early in character development and the TN to do away with Art. I believe Art has a LOT to show us. And I can't wait.

Saw Fern in promos. Did he bring his mom with him like promised? Mmmmm, highly doubt it.

No, no, no, Ter had better not end up pregnant. That is a tired and boring "who's the baby daddy" storyline.

Jarocha, are you in Mexico? Have you already seen this TN? It would be cool if you have, because when I watched LFMB this time, some of the girls on the Caray board were watching it for the second time and they were great with their comments. Of course never giving any spoilers!

Aida + Mar are the best. That's why it was so disappointing to see Mar cave with Ter. I was shocked at her, and I know she is just stringing Mar along so she can keep him as her back up. Mala, mala, mala.
I still am a Ter fan, but she slipped with the Mar seduction. Now, if she would do that after she was married, it would make more sense to the character. Not so close to the wedding, it risks Art finding out and cancelling the boda.

Monday is too far away and I miss the 2 hour chunks!! Waaaa

Diann

Vivi,
Funny about your wishful endings. I only agree with your list from Espe/Ledsma on down. Everything above that is a NO to me! See how different everyone can be on what they want to come of this TN? Too funny!

Diann

Loved the recap Frances. I was very disappointed to see Mariano fall for Teresa's manipulations again. I hope Arturo finds out and dumps her at the altar. Wouldn't that be great.

Also, it seems that Mariano truly likes Aida and Aurora has given up.

I wonder will Juana accept Hector's offer to be novios.

I'm dreading Monday's show. Arturo is so happy and Teresa has just ripped his heart out.

My endings (as of today):

Arturo knew all along that Teresa is a miserable scheming ho, but wanted to possess her to turn her into "his creation" (as he promised himself he'd never fall in love again after Paloma)

Luisa dumps Fernando and gets with Martin

Mariano + Aurora

Paloma goes back to Spain with Fernando

Juana + Hector. Juana starts a custom dressmaking business backed by Aurora or Luisa or Aida

Cutberto + Maid

Espe + Dr. Ledesma the younger

Maira + New Man

Aida + New man (Raul?), takes over her mother's business, finds out about Espe's baby and to everyone's surprise vows to support Espe & the baby, b/c she always wanted a sibling

Ruben & Genoveva: alone and broke

Johnny & Pati: off our TV screen

Armando & Refusio: Armando finally pays off Loan Sharkita. Refusio realizes Teresa is lost to her forever and pours her energies into the children of the vecindad/Espe's baby.

Luisa and Martin...that would be a nice pairing. And they're both so tall. :)

Vivi: Televisa had the alternative finales up in Tvolucion.com but only the last scene so what happened earlier in the episode shown on screen wouldn't make much sense with them, youtube had them up for a few days until Televisa asked to took them down. A few weeks later on their TLnovelas cable channel they aired the last week of the show with new scenes that weren't originally shown and made the episodes a little longer than 1 hour and then they aired each finale one by one during the weekend. I couldn't see the complete endings nor the added scenes of the last week because I don't have a tv in DF (much less cable :( ) but I saw the last scenes on tvolucion.

I think that since the audience was so divided in what they wanted to happen, many would have prefered the finale shown in Venezuela but I know many loved the resolution shown in México. The critics were divided too (Maxine Woodside for example wanted the Venezuela finale, Álvaro Cueva LOVED the Mexico ending, etc.).

Vivi: I finished my semester, thankfully, but I'm taking a seminar in a few weeks so I'm going to have to prepare for that. It's actually over there in Washington, maybe I could get to see you if you are there by then :).

Diann: Yes, I'm here in México. I get to watch most of the novelas before they are shown in the US, unless they are from Telemundo or are Univision originals (like La Reina del Sur or Eva Luna). I try my best to never give out spoilers though. Of the three being shown at primetime in Univision right now I saw Teresa (loved it) and alot of Cuando Me Enamoro (not a big fan of the story, but I love most of the cast especially Silvia Navarro). I'm not watching TDA (the last Mejía I watched was Abrazame Muy Fuerte in 2000, it was awful) but occasionally read the recaps and comments because I love the hilarious take on that show by the recappers and commenters of Caray Caray.

Jarocha

Jarocha,
Yes! You are in Mexico!
It is great having someone on the board who has seen the TN before. I know you won't give spoilers. But I will look forward to your comments. :)

Diann

Jarocha- Please do contact me about your timing in DC. I would love to take you out! E-mail me by clicking on my name and getting my e-mail address. If that doesn't work, just tell me. Congrats on finishing your semester. I'm sure you did well.

Wow Mariano looking hot hot hot I remember thinking he was super cute in black when he went clubbing with Aurora we need some more Aaron Diaz shirt less moments.

Good episode and they are only gonna get way better boy I wish we still had the 2 hour episodes I had my routine 2 hours of Teresa straight to Teresa Mendoza (Reina del sur) now I at times watch bits and pieces of Turdo-del amor but wow is that novela a snoozefest if only Maria Desamparada and Teresa chavez lived in the same vecindad and Tere befriended her and screw with her a bit would be funny.

Thinking about that possibility has Televisa ever done crossover episodes of their novelas that would be fun cause as we all know mexican novelas are 99% always in the DF.

My preferred ending for Teresa (as of now she might redeem her self)

Mariano + Aurora happy married and working at different hospitals you don't want to be with your significant other all daegone day I wouldn't think.

Refugie and Mando happily retired because they won the loterry LOL

Paloma + Arturo why the hell not he can do better but whatever or a new couple for both of them.

Cutberto with Juana and Pattys maid on the side haha (kidding)

Ledesma and Espe

Pattys maid + Fernando lol I'm serious why not?

Gema (the collection lady) comes out of the closet and is happy with her lesbian lover.

Aida + blond haired curly guy

Martin + new girl

Luisa living in her apartment married with a great new guy.

Johny + Patty

Grumps is illuminated or eliminated lol no falls in love with one of the old single ladies from the vecindad and accepts Pattys Love with el Johnys as Cut calls him.

Nachita comes back to la vecindad because her scenes were always hilarious

And finally Teresa!!

Her bar licence is revoked if there even is one in mexico and because she has such a high mortgage payment in a house she's buying alone because Art left her and she can't string along another rich guy and can't get any work.

Tere gets into the adult industry no no not porn at a very very exclusive high end well paying strip joint and lives of tips trying to find herself her next rich victim to marry but while she's stripping bits of her clothes and shaking that *** she's humiliated in the process cause Ruben Caceres is a regular customer and everyone in la vecindad and high society knows and unlike all dumb mexican telenovela ending were once they get married at the end they say "fin" teresa is giving Ruben a lap dance as a tear goes down her face and a huge smile on Rubens face then we see the "fin".

That should be Teresas end (yes I'm serious) and she's making good money but she must use her body and beauty and not her brains to make that money.

Thank you Vivi! I sent you an email already. I'm very excited about the trip, Washington sounds amazing! although of course I have to study alot there too hehe.

Jarocha

Diann, I'll be even more careful to not give away anything but hopefully you'll find my comments useful then ;D.

Jarocha

You ladies had me all sorts of curious when you talked about other endings they have out there for Teresa. So I looked all over YouTube and found them. No I'm not going to spoil the surprise but I think we're going to get Mexcio's version which is fine. But the other two endings I saw were great!!! They both took me by surprise but I think they were both better than the one Mexico has for it's ending.

@Cap'n Sylvia Sharkbait: I almost dropped my water.. LMAO. I vote fro more shirtless Mariano from now on. ;)

Paige

Paige- Do you also jump to the last page of books too? LOL! :) I am going to hold out to check out all the endings until we get to the end of this tn. Hopefully, Televisa and Uni will leave the alternate endings up on YouTube and wherever else they are currently.

The Bigote is just going to make everyone suspicious with his overreaction about Aida spending time with Mariano. He knows it's because Mariano knows about Espe and gave him a beatdown because of it. But his bs excuse about Mariano being from the lower class isn't holding water with anyone, considering where he came from and how he and Mayra met. I'm not looking forward to Aida finding out who Espe is though, because Espe will be the most hurt in the reveal. It's bad enough that right now Teresa is painting the picture of Espe being a revenge-driven scorned woman to Ruben and Arturo, which has opened her up to scrutiny from Art (who used to really respect her) and agression from Ruben.

Paquita wonderful recap for a exciting episode.

Enjoying seeing Teresa puppets rebelling against her.The Mariano pairing with Aida is truly getting to her poor girl.

I'm with Aurora WTF Mariano you're getting over Teresa this quickly and with Aida no less? Not enjoying this paring either but i did love Aurora's reaction to hearing this.

I feel that Mariano is trying to repair his damaged male ego nad while he does have a good time with Aida and all it's also a little pay back with Teresa's worst enemy.

The only problem this dope doesn't realize is how it's effecting Aurora and how he now looks to her.

U.S. censors really suck with cutting up the love scene between Teresa and Mariano there was nothing really overtly distasteful or shall we say really pushing the envelope on love making in that scene. If you can show a woman for almost 20 minutes with a thong string up the crack of her behind you most definitely need to stop cutting these love scenes. Be consistent. That would be LindaHo on TDA.

Paige,
I'm with Vivi, do you skip to the end of your books also? Wow, can't believe you sought out the ending to this TN, and all 3 endings no less!
Please, please try and be careful as to not give any spoilers while commenting. I, myself, wait until the last chapter of a book and we still have about 90 caps of Teresa left. So 90 caps, 90 days, 5 days a week, we still have 18 weeks to go.....

Diann

Paige: I didn't know the finales were up again. I guess you'll still have to wait to see why the characteres got there in the first place.

However, I do strongly advice to wait for the end to watch them. And selfishly, I remember how crazy it was when we were close to the last episode here and I would love to see a repeat of that here.

Blu: The Uni censors cut down Teresa and Mariano's love scene? It was fairly tame. This was aired at 6 pm in México so it's not like they could go all Sortilegio style on us.

Jarocha

Oh yeah, the censors chopped it all up. I don't even bother to comment on it anymore. I will never understand why the U.S. censors are SO sensitive to tastefully done love scenes, when they allow so much other crap on tv, and when Mexican tv saw no problem showing the scenes, at family hour no less!

Jarocha whenever you notice a skip in the music during the love scenes you know the censors are cutting what they consider showing too much sex.Quite frankly i didn't even think Sortilegio love scenes were too much either. My problem with the censors is be consistent we most definitely didn't need to see LindaHo's crack with a thong disappearing to parts unknown for almost 20 minutes frolicking on the beach with Pimp Daddy Os on TDA.Too much double standard what they consider too graphic and offensive and what's not. Me i just sat there waiting for them to blur some of the images of LindaHo's behind but nothing doing they felt that wasn't offensive i guess when you're a male censor you can determine what's offensive and what's not huh?

Jarocha naturally as with Sortilegio i went online too see what got the censors panties twisted into a bunch and like you said it was very tame. I've seen more in American soaps than what was going on with Teresa and Mariano in his bedroom.

Hold up you said Teresa was shown at 6pm during it's showing in Mexico i would have thought based on the adult theme of this novela it would be shown at a more appropriate timeslot.

Interesting about the three alternative endings i guess we will also get the Mexico version but i'll wait to we get there and then look for the other two endings.

The more i watch this i can see why it was such a big hit in Mexico someone also mentioned they were thinking about making Teresa part two but i think it was either you or Urban who said because the way it ended that it wasn't possible.

Vivi that's exactly what gets me heated with the American censors here and like you said this is a very adult storyline but as Jarocha mentioned it was shown at 6pm in Mexico not like 9pm for adult type of shows apparently they didn't find anything remotely overly sexual with that scene to try and tame it down so why do we always get the chopped up version over here?

Vivi i just don't understand how they can let some of the love scenes we see in American soaps be considered ok but not was shown between Teresa and Mariano was too much? Trust me it wasn't anything more than what i have seen on American soaps.

Fundraiser: Art wonders what’s wrong with Teresa cuz Tiburoncita is looking a little glum around the gills.

Excellent!

Teresa isn't the only maneater to pull a stunt like this. Manola in Barrera de Amor did this. She also became embarazada as a result and she had married a much older man with mucho dinero.

I totally agree with Teresa getting disbarred and ending up as a stripper. That's a career with an early expiration date.

I'm not going to jump ahead to see the finale! Please, no spoilers!!! I'll wait. I'm really enjoying this novela. The characters, the acting, everything is super.

I always wondered about the skip in the music. I thought my cable company was up to it's usual hijinks.

ITA with Blu and others regarding censors and their selective scene cutting. LindaHo and her crack, honestly. Have you all noticed the ridiculous blurring of the nude in Gui's place on TDA? It's smack in the middle of the wall behind the bar and it's usually blurred out when someone is standing right in front of it. Funny thing is, sometimes it's blurred and sometimes it's not. I never would have noticed it had they not blurred it to begin with. It's an abstract of a nude, for goodness sake. yeesh.

The Uni censors are like a joke now then. I can't imagine them going through a novela picking what should or shouldn't get cut.

Blu: My biggest guess is that the Uni censors might be considering the sensitivities of the Latinos in the US, who they might perceive as more conservative than the overall audiences in México. After all, many of them come too from the much more conservative countries in Central America. I know too that the biggest inmigration from México to the US comes from states like Zacatecas and other northern places wich are more religious than the average in the country. And then there's the fact that the US has stronger vigilance for the media than México does, so complains from the public could create bigger issues there than any contingence created in México against Televisa. Any real censorship here would have to come from the government and to censor love scenes would just make them look ridiculous given the other issues they should be tackling right now.

And yes, Teresa was shown at 6pm. Our comedy novelas are shown at 8 pm, children's novelas are at 4pm, 9 pm is the "horario estelar" for the ones they suspect will be more successful (but they failed with TDA because it's flopping worse than CS2009) so Teresa had to get the 5pm, 6pm or 7pm timeslot. Since Carlos Moreno was coming off ENDA's success he got the 7pm slot for CME so Jose Alberto Castro got the 6pm slot.

Jarocha

This conversation about censoring reminds me of the ridiculous job they did on Tontas. They actually censored out scenes where Jaime Camil stepped in doggie doo. And the dog was a little poodle so how bad could that be? Of course none of us got the joke because half of what he said was deleted and when they showed the little poo on the sidewalk it was blurred. Unbelievable!

Frances, I'm going to have to agree with UA, "Art wonders what’s wrong with Teresa cuz Tiburoncita is looking a little glum around the gills." is fabulous, I loved it! Thanks for your wonderful recap, I enjoyed every minute of it!

I have a problem worse than censorship, my Comcast DVR adds about five minutes of CuandoME and then cuts an equal amount off my Teresa recordings, so I saw nothing of the Teresa/Mariano love scenes, censored or not! The interesting thing is that other US programs don't have that problem. Can you imagine the outrage if all the Dancing With the Stars or Idol fans had five minutes cut from the end of their programs and they had to watch five extra minutes of local programming? It might be an issue with the Univision program timing, perhaps they are running the novelas into the next hour. If I hadn't been a member of this blog, I wouldn't know that Mariano and Teresa got together and I could care less that the Jessica Coch character in CME is pregnant, but I have to slog through that!

Sandy, the problem is that the Spanish-language networks run prime time programs past the top of the hour most of the time and don't tell the cable companies. This annoys me big time.

If your DVR instructions can be done to continue recording a few more minutes, adjust it to do so.

Censorship is one of my biggest pet peeves. The moral watchdogs in the buckle on the Bible belt make a disproportionate amount of noise about sex on television. One of the first things people who never watch novelas ask me about them is about the sexual content. In most countries it's no more bare flesh than in US soaps, but it's much more passionate. US television still treats sex like kids in locker rooms do while novelas (esp. Mexican ones) treat it like it's happening in a romance novel.

I think that Univision and Telemundo are afraid of the watchdog groups; I doubt any of their audience is complaining.

Sandy, I have noticed foreign channels tend to blur their start and stop times. It happens with my Portuguese channel also. Can you adjust your record time? I added another 10min to the stop time. That seems to work.

Diann

Sandy, you should be able to set your DVR to record a certain amount of time before and after the scheduled program, say adding five minutes on each end. Univision is pretty notorious for not running on schedule.

I think the censorship is hilarious. It amazes me what the censors find appropriate or not. There was dog excrement blurred out on Niña de Mi Corazón last week, too, and they silenced half the conversation about it, too, same as on Tontas, so it took me a minute to figure out what was going on and really just made me think about the whole thing way more than I would have if they'd just left it alone.

I also remember a scene of House, where House and Wilson were having a conversation at the urinals, and there was no peeing sound. Like, it's totally okay to show them standing there and know they are urinating, but that sound, which pretty much everyone hears multiple times per day anyway, is just too much.

The tanga swimsuit issue is the funniest. They blur some women, but not others, sometimes on the same show. I imagine some committee sitting around deciding which heinies will corrupt our delicate minds and which will not.

I hate it when they make the music all choppy cutting innocuous stuff out of escenas de amor, though.

ViVi: LMAO... I've only skipped to the end of one book and that was Breaking Dawn from the Twlight Saga. That book was giving me sleepless nights so I cheated a bit. But I only watched the endings and left the rest of the eppy's alone.By watching the endings it made me want to see what else happens in between even more.

Diann: I'm not a spoil sport I would never blab the finale of anything. Because I hate it when people tell me the end of a movie. That's why when I posted earlier I was very vauge about what took place.

Jarocha: I learned a semi lesson skipping to far ahead from Eva Luna. Before I found this site I went on YouTube to watch a eppy I missed one week. And had no idea that it was already over in Mexico.I got so caught uo I ended up ruining the finale which was a bummer because the finale of Eva Luna was so good.

Paige

Paige, you are too funny. I never look or read ahead, no matter what. I learned the hard way that often the Wikipedia entries about telenovelas are full of the very worst spoilers. Hence I never read or refer to them which is a shame because Wikipedia has good info, just too much of it!

Wikipedia also has a lot of mistakes and I've also seen outright lies about novelas in progress. Spoilers may also occur in the character descriptions if they aren't in the plot summaries.

These comments on censorship are so funny. I wonder if the censoring comes from the spanish station or from our stations.
Teresa seems to need little censoring-but I watch in NY maybe they don't censor much here as opposed to Kansas.
Yeah, time seems to have little importance to Univision and maybe the other spanish stations, too. I set mine to stop recording a full half hour after the show, I learned the hard way.

Jardinera, Paquita, Samantha, Elvira, Kristoise,SueS, thanks for the fantastic recaps. I wasn't able to watch last week, so reading your recaps this weekend was a true pleasure. Also enjoyed everybody's comments.

Mariano no doubt thinks Teresa couldn't possibly marry Arturo now. When will he ever learn? In my mind the only good thing about his fall is at least he did it on Aida's watch as the "rebound girl." Aurora was so wise not to rush in on Mariano. Once he's with her, there'd better be no slipping back to Teresa.

Thank you for the wonderful recap! I have finally caught up with this episode.

My hopes (at this time) for all the characters:

I still see Teresa as a Scarlett O'Hara, so I hope for her to end up with Professor Hottie ONLY after she has suffered and groveled for all the stuff she's pulled. And she has to truly love Professor Hottie too. He deserves no less.

Alternatively, it would be nice if Professor Hottie ended up with Paloma. Poor Professor Hottie—either way he ends up with a woman who has put him through the wringer.

Mariano + Aurora, of course.

Esperanza and Hernan the Galan.

I suspect that Juana is going to end up with Cutberto, but I agree with everyone else—I'd like to see her with Hector the Director.

Luisa either ends up with Fernando (if he doesn't cheat on her) or if he does cheat on her, he has to be like Teresa and really grovel and repent and truly love and deserve Luisa. Seeing Luisa with Martin would work for me too. Martin seems like a sweetie.

Aida and Raul, the curly-headed blonde guy. He has had a crush on her from the start.

Rubigote + nobody. I would like to see him have some malfunction that makes it difficult for him to . . .you know. He's been working himself overtime, he needs to take a break.

If Juana ends up with Cutberto, maybe Hector the Director can end up with Mayra. (Or however you spell her name.) She's a sweet woman, she deserves a guy who will treat her right.

That's all I can think of right now!

Great discussion on the whole censorship of "love scene" in the US. Brings me back to my old advertising days...

The reason Univision gets chopped is because it is considered part of the basic stations that fall under this type of censorship review ( a non-cable subscriber in many parts of the US, including where I live in NE Ohio, can get the station without cable). If it was part of the larger cable shows or an HBO type station, there would be no chopping. It's an archaic system that has yet to address the fact that the majority of US households have cable and can see just about anything now. (Heck- just watch Real World on MTV to get an eye/ear full).

Daytime does not fall under the same rules either since it doesn't have the "family hour" regulations - thinking the kiddies are in school, etc. The institution of the "family" hour basically seals the fate of many shows that anywhere across the US may fall within the 6-9pm span, depending on your location. A lot of directors and writers just don't even push for authenticity knowing it will be a big dealin the review process-

I know when Glee allowed the one four-letter word to leak through on a song last week, it's all anyone talked about regarding the show. Yet walk in any school, any office and down the street...anyway. The Family Council committees still hold a lot of media and clout in this country like no where else- so we're stuck with the system more to protect advertisers from angry conservative viewers than to allow for realistic TV. Basic stations need those ad bucks!

thanks, Frances - no time to say more
congrats to Jarocha on her studies!

Thanks Caray tech support, I did find in my DVR menu where you can add a bit to the ending of a program that you have selected by name not time, great news! Now I can watch all the censored endings of my novelas!

I wish they would have more censorship of children's cartoons. You would be so surprised to hear some of the language and bathroom humor that is there for the ears of our little ones. The language isn't obscene, just rough and coarse. You can never let your guard down when you are parenting or grand parenting.

Honestly, sometimes fade to black is the sexiest scene of all!!! Also, seeing people stew a bit can be better than the real deal. Oh well, I guess the days of Pernell Roberts on Bonanza are gone for good!!

Niecie, "Aurora was so wise not to rush in on Mariano." You are so right on that one.

Really the hottest scene I've seen was on La Verdad Oculta but of course on You Tube. Even though LVO was on at midnight in the U S, the tv version didn't show the completely naked behind of Gabe Soto who was planted on top of the heroine in the hot tub. Woo Hoo. I am surprised this scene was shown in Mexico during prime time. Go figure.

GinCA

Thank you Jardinera!

GinCA: I heard at the Uni forums that Para Volver A Amar was also getting censored at midnight now. My initial theory back when we were watching LVO was that Uni had expected to put that novela earlier and censored it before they ever thought of putting it at midnight but now I know it was just the Uni censors being their usual selves.

Jarocha

On Censorship: Before Televisa became allergic to YouTube I saw the first 40 episodes of FELS there. The uncensored version of the skinnydipping scene in episode 33 (or thereabouts) had astronomically more views than any other segment. The previous one with Ninel Conde and Pablo Montero had about 5 seconds chopped out on Univision, which you would definitely tell from the background music.

Jardinera,

Between burps, check your gmail!

Thanks......

The only TV program that I thought was too graphic was "Six Feet Under." I didn't write letters, call censors, etc. but "voted with my feet." My husband voted with his feet too.......and watched it!!!

I really worry more about the presentation of violence than sex......

I completely agree, Sandy! Physical intimacy is at least something that is normal and okay (right circumstances, consent, etc.), but U.S. television shows horrible violence like it's nothing, and that is definitely something that could get into kids' heads in a bad way.

Although there does seem to be some censorship of violence. I don't know if it's by law or just the policies of the networks, but they usually edit the news so we don't see the really gory bits. I remember when I was in Mexico years ago and I was watching the news one night. I was fairly shocked at the footage they showed of some murder victims on the side of the road. Right up close, nothing left to the imagination. They would not do that on the news programs here; it would be a far-away shot, or the bodies already covered, or something.
