El Mundo de Telemundo - Discuss among yourselves, Week of June 7
REINA- My final thought is that I wish they would do an interview with the writers because the actors were good but without the great writing, this would not have been the fantastic novela it was and there is no better example of that than...
HEREDEROS through Thurs.- Things are picking up slightly here as we go into últimas semanas. Pablo/Emilio was about to tell Juan that Paula wasn't his biological child when he had a stroke and was rendered mute. Even though he doesn't work there anymore, Modesto appeared when Juan whistled, presumably so that he could overhear Paula say that she is pregnant with Juan's baby. Since he doesn't know about Sofía's scheme, he thinks that Paula and Juan have committed incest.
Sofía tells Jose about Paula's pregnancy and he threatens to harm her unborn child if she doesn't go through with the scheme to get his brothers' inheritance.
As Novelera mentioned in her comment on Thurs., Gaspar has the hots big time for Adela. I agree that his character makes no sense. He seems to be nice guy most of the time but there is no explanation for his lapses into evil.
Julieta finally tells her parents about her cancer. Rosa is in denial.
The big record deal for the Gavilanes trio turned out to be a set up for some pretty inept criminals. Hey Efrain, If you want to impress Beatriz with your smarts, check out folks who offer you deals too good to be true. There is such a thing as the Internet.
I totally agree with you, Novelera about the Rosario rape storyline. There was zero suggestion that this had happened earlier in the novela when Rosario was portrayed as the more conventional but normal sister.
Julieta tells Paula that she and Juan are going to adopt a baby.
That was about it.
Over to you.
Labels: casa-lado, herederos, insiste, telemundo
Jean, did I miss something? I don't remember that Emilio/Pablo was going to tell Juan that Paula wasn't his child. In fact, I thought both he and Modesto still thought Paula and Juan were half siblings. Of course, it has to come out that Paula is really Gonzalo's child so her baby isn't born with an IQ of 75 or three arms.
Another interesting reveal was the vengeful daddy who supposedly sterilized Johnny. I think there will be a twist here. This seems to me to be another example of the writers throwing s#*t against the wall at the very end to see if something will stick.
The actor playing Nacho is doing a good job playing a psychopathic psychologist. I could just slap Rosario, though. ¡Ya basta! Tell Luis the truth before I start throwing things at my television!
Miguel and Rosa, especially the actor playing Rosa, are doing a good job as parents reacting to the news that their child may die.
Once again around the mulberry bush with Julieta trying to get someone - this time Guadalupe - to help her kill Paula.
But Paula and Sofía are gone. Wonder how long that will last? One episode?
This was a fairly interesting episode. I still can't decide if Lola will really marry old Diogenes. The big issue would be if it's actually done by a priest. This would mean that the viejo verde would have to die to achieve Lola and Andrés having a happy ending, which of course they will.
I loved the scene where Pepe gives Dio a mental image of Lola's horror when/if she sees him in his birthday suit.
Marcelo practically exploded when he heard that Andrés was alive and had to be cooled off by Ramón.
I'm enjoying the actress playing Sofía. She's SO different from Loca Lucía in Alguien te Mira! She appeared in a music video with Jencarlos, and they've been good friends for quite a while (not novios as far as I know).
I guess we're supposed to laugh a bit, and Ana really brings the crazy. But throwing the cell of the aunt of the man she loves out of a cab window. Sheesh!
Thanks for getting our conversation started this week, Jean. I do love your idea of an interview with the writers of REINA. It would be fascinating.
LA CASA DE AL LADO -- general
After the first week I've concluded that this is an inspired choice for the REINA timeslot. It is so different from its predecessor that it doesn't lend itself to unflattering comparisons. Yes, this is definitely a writer's show, but it is a classic mystery that has a sort of Agatha Christie feel to it. We are left feeling uneasy about every single character, even the protagonista, Gonzalo (Would you trust a guy who wouldn't confide to his future bride that he was sterile?)
The setting is somewhat static -- I can imagine it being performed on a stage with only a few changes of scenery required -- but the story is barreling along at a good clip. The actors are cool and attractive; and they all seem to be hiding something.
So many questions:
Is Adolfo really dead? If so, was he murdered? Why?
What's Leonardo's truth? Is he able to do more than everyone thinks? What does he know?
Who killed Pedro, the gardener?
Why did Emilio burn the autopsy report that showed the death wasn't an accident?
Who killed the police officer, Cifuentes?
What's going on with Diego and is it related to the main plot?
Why is Javier such a putz?
What's the deal with Igor Mora?
What's the deal with Ignacia? Why did she marry Gonzalo anyway?
And Carola? And Pilar? And Hilda...
Tune in and find out!
I am excited about this TN. Jencarlos looks muy caliente and I can listen to the theme song over and over again. I am sad that mauricio henao will play a villian (according to wiki. I loved him in Fantasma de Elena.
I bet Lola will marry the old doctor and he will die so that she will then inherit her money.
NovelaMaven, glad to see your comments. I really liked your list of questions. At this pace and with all the secrets unfolding, this novela promises to be quite exciting. But I am still having REINA withdrawl, and am wondering how Teresa Mendoza is making out in her fabulous house by the sea.
Hombre, Thanks for the corrections. I am awed by how you can keep all the characters names straight.
I have to admit I was quite surprised to find that Ignacio's affair is with Javier. OY! Also, Gonzalo seems to be married for a week and is now in love with Pilar.
I hope we get some back story on Gonzalo and especially about how Gonzalo and Ignacia got together, and why. Was he in love with her?
I think this is going to be a speedy ride, and I am wondering whether we will find out most of the secrets like in ALGUIEN,and then see how they all play out.
I loved the scene where Andres puts his palm on the touchscreen. Millions of fingerprints fly through the computer, and after a bit, there's a match. He's Andres Santa Cruz, from Los Angeles, and he's dead! This fingerprint thing was in New York. Interesting to know that Andres' fingerprints are on record in New York, when I don't think he had any criminal record. But it works for the plot. Is anyone going to apologize or be sanctioned for trying to deport Andres? Doubt it.
I think Lola will have to marry Diogenes, since Andres is just about to return. If she didn't, the story would be over too soon.
Although Daniel may become a villain, I don't think he'll be as bad as his father, and might be one of those characters who switches between bad and good.
Not only does Lola have an amazing body which she shows off with her bare midriffed outfits, her friend Adelita is really cute, too.
Yes, Debora (Ana Layevska) is outrageous. But she's getting her punishments, too. She's already been maltreated by Marcelo when she had sex with him. She's going to have get some new allies (maybe Daniel).
Great questions, NovelaMaven, and great comments, NJ Sue. I agree that we don't know who to trust. For example:
Pilar is attracted to Gonzalo, and says she wouldn't lie to him. But her fearful behavior seems to be more than just fear of Javier. She's hiding something.
Emilio also pretends to be friendly to Gonzalo. He's talking about digging up Adolofo's body. But we saw him burn that police report. He's hiding something.
Carola keeps saying she never reveals secrets, she's a tomb. But what secrets is she not revealing?
Yolanda, Karen and Nibaldo all know lots of secrets. I bet Yolanda, the supposedly upstanding one of the three, actually has more to hide than the other two.
Yes, Leonardo has something up his sleeve.
Eva: Seems evil, but maybe she isn't as bad as she seemed at first.
And then there's Ignacia. With her loose, flowing, bizarre outfits, she's sexy as hell. But can Gonzalo trust one word she says?
Gonzalo seems like the only trustworthy one around. But you're right NovelaMaven, maybe HE's not so pure, either, hiding his sterility from his wife.
And I agree, NJ Sue, how DID he and Igacia meet and get married?
It's a real mystery. For the first few programs, they had almost no commercials, which forced us to watch. But at this point, I'm finding myself glued to the TV without any strategies by the producers other than a fascinating show.
oh I really hope Mauricio Henao (Daniel) isn't a baddie til the end. He and Jencarlos are a sight to behold.
LA CASA DE AL LADO:
I have yet to see an episode, but just wanted to say that Varoni and Porras in one show - dynamite! and yes, Maritza is a natural beauty.
OK, I'm caught up. Don't know if I can sustain the pace of three novelas, but we'll see.
I would say the theme of this novela seems to be ambiguity. Everyone seems to be a suspect of some kind. And, yes, even the supposed hero has failed to tell his wife he's infertile before the wedding.
I don't get why Pilar, supposedly an intelligent psychologist, puts up with Javier's abuse. I know, I know, it happens.
And it's been kind of annoying how many times Pilar tells Gonzalo to leave her alone, that she's frightened. And he keeps coming around when her husband isn't home. Say what?
Even the sweet little niece from Mexico has an edge to her.
They definitely led us up the garden path with Ignacia going to some hotel room to meet a lover. I was suspecting it was Adolfo, hiding out for some reason. But no. She's having trysts with Javier. But why did she marry Gonzalo anyway? Is he meant to be a beard?
I really hate to see scenes of a sensitive child like Diego being forced to take up martial arts or do 50 pushups by a brutal father.
It's REALLY tough getting caught up on novelas on the weekend when there's also a Giants baseball game on both days!
Just to let the Fans of Pola -- or as I think of us, FOPS -- out there know the good news: La Pola finally has the virtual Room of Her Own she deserves (or at least her own link on the sidebar). Pasofino wrote a detailed recap of last Friday's episode and plans to post something weekly. Yay team Pola! Thanks, Pasofino!
So, just as we predicted, Lola reluctantly got married 1 SECOND before her lover Andres, who recovered his memory and rushed back from New York, burst into the wedding. Oh well.
So they opened up the grave of Adolfo. Emilio says "that's him" as they recoil from the stench. He even snatches the wedding ring from the corpse. Gonzalo takes the ring. But note: HE never saw the corpse. Emilio could by lying, and could have already had the ring in his pocket.
Javier continues to make things hell for Pilar, alternating between violent and tender, acting as if he's the perfect husband, and everything's her fault.
Eva was poisoned with rat poison. Who could have done it?
I still don't trust Yolanda. And I REALLY don't trust Nibaldo. Is it possible that Hilda is not so innocent as she pretends to be, and was actually brought to the house on purpose by one of the schemers?
We saw a shadowy figure in a video rush up the stairs towards Leonardo's room. I'm still suspecting Nibaldo. But it could be almost anyone.
And now we've met Igor Mora, but we don't know his story.
Thanks for the Monday minicap, Hombre. What a bunch of suspicious characters! I don't trust a single one of them.
Not only is there doubt about what Emilio actually saw in Adolfo's coffin, there's doubt (in my mind, at least) about the authenticity of the video showing the mysterious person going up the stairs.
Even little Diego is turning kind of creepy, reminding me more and more of his role in Alguien te mira.
The new maid, Hilda, is definitely sly. In fact all the household staff -- Yolanda and Nibaldo in the Conde house and lascivious, larcenous Karen in the Ruiz house -- seem up to no good, in one way or another.
As I watched last night I was reminded of a reality show where a gaggle of more or less photogenic people run around making secret alliances and stabbing each other in the back. But here I'm not sure there is going to be a clear winner.
I was too tired to watch all of this last night, but did read Hombre and NovelaMaven's comments/recap.
I guess they confirmed last night that Eva was poisoned. But I thought it was Hilda. She served her the tea for her "nerves", and the camera focused on Hilda's face for a moment. There was a significant look on her face. They also showed her in the background when Eva first said she didn't need to go to the doctor and then doubled up with pain. It could be a red herring, of course, but her motive could be that she's falling in love with Emilio, and Eva told her to stay away from him.
This show is becoming a bit more interesting, but the behavior of some of the characters continues to be bizarre. By this I mean completely out of character for how they've been up to this point in the arc.
Gaspar announced last night that he was prepared to separarse to be with Adela. What? Undying, possessive love for Guadalupe for weeks and weeks and now he wants to leave her for a woman he's known for, what, 3 or 4 days?
If Paula went to the same place as last time she left (Adela's in the capital?), then why is she so hard to find.
Sofía has had NO big character changes. She remains a greedy liar in a very consistent way. She was not happy Paula got pregnant by Juan, thinking she'd want to stay with him instead of cashing out with the agreement they'd signed. Now that they've left the ranch, she's already working the angle of a big child support payment that she referred to as "ours". And she practically shuddered with horror when Paula mentioned the very concept of working for a living.
I'm ready to fast forward the scenes of dummy Rosario being interrogated by everyone and continuing to keep her mouth shut about what Nacho did.
Yep, they did it. Lola married the old Asqueroso. This guy is a 10 on the "Eeeewww" meter. He's set up secret cameras to record her every move, including in the bathroom! Could he be any more disgusting? And it was a priest who did the deed, so this jerk will presumably have to die to get our Romeo and Juliet pair to the altar. Whoops, I take that back. If it isn't consummated, there could be an annulment.
Shallowgal, it looks like you got your wish. Daniel appeared really happy that Andrés was alive. And he told his rotten father that he supposes HE (Danny) has a heart after all. I haven't seen this actor in anything before, so I was fully prepared to accept him as a baddie until the end.
novelera: I was so happy with Daniel's reaction last night. but I do agree with someone who said his character will probably be switching to the dark side every now and then. He was on El Fantasma de Elena prior to this show - such a handsome young man.
I agree with Novelera --that Hilda
could be the poisoner of Eva. But I dont think it has to do with Emilio. From her arrival from Mexico (?), she seemed to have something against Eva. The faces the actress is making at Eva are not all that subtle, but also she could be a red herring. Or perhaps connected to Igor Mora...
I still think that Adolfo is alive and pretending to be Leonardo, which would work re the ring in the coffin and Emilio's identifying him as Adolfo. Don't forget that he and Leonardo are identicial twins. (And isn't the actor from ALGUIEN doing a great job in the part?)When Carola kissed him, she said it was just like kissing Adolfo. I'm thinking she and Adolfo had an affair and that is why she is so attached and kind to Leonardo. And in her plan for their escape, she keeps talking about how great it will be when they have freedom. Freedom from what? Obviously from whatever is going on in the house.
And why would Ignacia have the chauffeur follow Gonzalo?? What has he done that would provoke her to do this? She doesn't seem to know about his relationship with Pilar, or suspect them. I wonder whether she's the evil one in the house and responsible for many of the strange goings-on.
It's interesting how the house is almost like another character.
I forgot to thank you, Hombre, for your recap.
Re Igor Mora, I've got the impression that Renato harmed him in some way, resulting in his being in that care facility and looking almost catatonic. Injured him in an automobile accident? Gave him a stroke from finding out about a dirty business deal? I get the impression that Javier may have somehow helped Renato to escape consequences. He sort of threatened him that it might become public when he was foaming at the mouth about Gonzalo receiving shares in Conde Hotels.
Another night of some secrets exposed. Interesting that Hilda did do the poisoning of Eva, but inadvertently --says she. Is there any chance that Hilda could be the woman with Javier in the hotel? He says something about how happy he is that she came to Miami and he would get her an
apartment...although that woman seemed to have redder hair. But because we didn't see her, I'm thinking it has to be someone we know.
Re Javier: Did I understand correctly that he basically offered to have Igor Mora offed, and that Renato didn't say no? And when Javier went to the home, it seemed as though he is trying to get Mora out of there so he could more conveniently get rid of him.
Re Emilio: So now we know that he is another perv and taping everything that goes on in the house. But that kind of person probably likes to look more than to do, so maybe he's not an evil doer.
Re Ignacia; She is seeming less sweet and still might turn out to be the villainess of this piece.
Re Yolanda; As someone already pointed out, she too is less innocent than she seems. What's with the rat poison and Hilda finding her in the storeroom trying to dissemble about the box?
Re Carola: Even though she's a brat and an addict, I feel she is essentially good. We'll see.
Re Gonzalo: Doesn't he ever work? He spends all his time as Sherlock Holmes. After his kiss with Pilar, he really did look as though he had fallen in love with her.
Still many many more questions than answers....
Great questions, NJ Sue. I think that Javier's new lover may be Karla Monroig (who was Matilde in Alguien Te Mira), because she's listed in the credits, but we haven't seen her yet.
Yes, I think Javier offered money to the hospital guy to assign some "special care" to Igor Mora, which will somehow kill him, and that Renato is sort of going along with this (since Igor knows some deep secret that Renato did to Igor). Javier and Renato also talked about ANOTHER woman who knows too much about this matter.
I think someone said that this show has the same producer as El Fantasma de Elena. Well, in that show, there was ALSO a brother, who watched everybody on video screens. And he turned out to be quite bad (but was killed in a fire by the actress who plays Debora!).
Yes, it sort of looks as if Yolanda had something to do with that rat poison. And I'm not too happy with Karen's extortion of the $500 from Nibaldo. Now Nibaldo, when Gonzalo shook him, revealed that Ignacia wanted N to follow Gonzalo. Gonzo and Igna's marriage doesn't look too hot at present.
And little Andrea, finding out about Nibaldo/Karen, then blackmailing Nibaldo to ship Hilda away, so she'll have a free shot at Emilio! They start the scheming young in this show.
Javier is a piece of work, terrorizing Pilar if she even talks to Gonzalo, but he has TWO amantes, and is actually sleeping with them.
Yolanda also told Carola that there's no way she's taking Leonardo out of the house, then later told Leonardo that's because of the solemn promise she made to Adolfo. But Carola says Adolfo DIDN'T care about Leonardo. Something is fishy here.
In another classic telenovela cliche, now that Lola married ancient Dr. Diogenes, evil Lola gets hurt Andres drunk, and convinces him to pay back Lola with a taste of her own medicine. Let's get married in Las Vegas, the way Andres and Lola were going to. That'll teach her a lesson! Yes, this makes perfect sense in telenovela-land, and I would not be surprised a bit if Andres DOES marry Debora. Then Debora will get pregnant (but it won't be Andres's, although he was too drunk to know for sure). Then maybe a baby switch, a couple more comas..... yes, this novela is right on schedule :)
Thanks, Hombre. You exactly summed up my feelings. The acting is good in this one, but the telenovela clichés keep coming. I'm sure you're right that Debora is going to have another romp with the evil Marcelo and try to pass the kid off as Andrés' child, whether or not the Las Vegas wedding takes place.
Thanks, Hombre and NJ Sue for your excellent descriptions (and questions) about last night's show.
I have a question also. How do we know that Yolanda had rat poison in that little cofre she had hidden in the storage room? The rat poison was in the large cardboard box up high on a shelf. Why would she have needed to put some in that personal box? I was thinking it was money she was hiding from Nibaldo.
Yep, Gonzalo and Ignacio are NOT going to end up together for the long haul.
Something about the camera angle, but when Javier dropped his pants in the hotel room, I thought the back view of the shoulder looming up to the left of the screen looked male. I was thinking: "Wow, now this is creative - a bisexual villain!"
I especially dislike all the women on this show. Pilar's bug-eyed fear every time she meets with Gonzalo is getting on my last nerve. Siachoque is doing a great job, probably the best actress on the whole thing. But she certainly isn't likeable. And the bratty daughter of Javier and Pilar, there's nothing wrong with her that ten years of psychotherapy wouldn't fix.
I thought Javier was planning to bring in an outside "nurse" to care for Igor Mora, something that is against the rules of the place, thus the suitcase of money.
More of the same. Paula sickeningly sweet and self effacing. José chewing up the scenery being a rotten guy. Juan being noble. Rosario acting more and more nuts, refusing to say anything is wrong, playing right into Nacho's hands. And Lucas, dumb as a box of rocks, not finding Nacho's trying to give him a handful of pills to give Rosario at all suspicious.
The big development was that José's greed cost him the custody of Simóncito. He went to meet with the smarmy guy (Roberto?) who pretended to be Paula's husband and forgot the custody hearing.
Now it looks like they're leading up to José trying to kill Sofía or Paula or both? Makes no sense.
I hope Gaspar ends up alone. What a hypocrite! In one scene he's drooling all over Adela and a couple of scenes later he looks deeply into Lupe's eyes and tells her he only loves her and always will. Yuck!
And then there was the wholly ridiculous scene with Julieta trying to snatch a baby by force from a woman in the street. Hurry up and die, Julieta!
NOVELERA: I had the same impression at first: that Javier was sleeping with a man. We saw a definitely masculine shoulder.
Hombre; Remember Matilde's boyfriend in ALGUIEN? I think he was called Mauricio. Another camera "bug!" Maybe in this day and age, this electronic voyeurism is not so uncommon.
That's what makes this show good, that we're not sure of things. Yes, maybe Javier was with a man, which would be funny since he normally acts so macho. And I agree, we don't know what Yolanda had in the little box. It might have been her savings, but Nibaldo took at least some of those. Maybe we'll learn more tonight.
BTW, in Hasta Que El Dinero Nos Separe, the boss lady also set up a system of video cameras to watch her employees. Maybe we as the audience, are doing a little bit of the same thing- looking in on all these characters' private moments. And for US, it's socially acceptable!
LOL, Novelera. That's what my mother said about Julieta, 'Hasn't she died yet?'
Concerning Pablo/Emilio and Paula parenthood, I believe that Paula told Pablo that it was probable that Emilio wasn't her biological father. In telenovela logic, to be struck mute as he has been, Pablo must have information that he wants to but is unable to reveal.
Since Modesto knows that Pablo is Emilio and thinks that Paula is Emilio's daughter, I don't think that can be the information that Pablo wants to communicate. But I am applying logic to this crappy novela and I could be wrong.
So last night, Nacho rapes Consuelo. Naturally, she doesn't tell anyone, like the police and she appears to try and drown herself. When Rosario finds out about this, she'll really freak out.
Naturally, Johnny can't tell Consuelo that he was the victim of an unauthorized vasectomy. Has he been tested? Maybe the evil doctor was bluffing.
Crazy Julieta suggests to Pedro that he father a child for her. He thinks that means father a child with her but she wants him to father a child with someone else, like Adela, and then take it away from the mother and give it to her and Juan. A brilliant plan on so many levels. Not.
Paula's pretend husband and now ally of Jose is Esteban.
Thanks, Jean for filling me in on the various stupidities of this show. I have been watching it off and on. Last night I thought, Consuelo is big and strong, she'll be able to fight off Nacho. But no. I sure hope she doesn't drown. That would be ridiculous, and might make me stop watching the show (not that I was watching that much anyway). Maybe she'll be washed up and found alive...but with amnesia, of course.
Yes, Julieta is great with her clever plans.
Well, Andres did marry Debora, although there doesn't seem to be much of a honeymoon. The happiest person about this wedding? Debora's mother Vicki, who said ecstatically, "you married into money, honey, now our whole family is set financially!" or something like that.
So Javier's amante IS a woman. In fact, it's Pilar's sister! Don't know her name yet, but she's played by Karla Monroig, who is WAY more feisty than she was in Alguien te Mira.
Andrea really puts the pressure on Nibaldo to ship Hilda out, and he tries, but Emilio puts the kebash on that.
Ignacia is p-o-ed that Gonzalo intimidated Nibaldo into not telling her stuff (he's a "lawyer", and could put Nibaldo in "jail"). But she has that address where Gonzalo was. She goes there, observes Pilar enter, charms the guard into revealing the room, and listens in (they left the door open). Pilar and Gonzalo are about to kiss, and Ignacia is about to confront them, when Gonzalo tells Pilar about how he can't have kids, so Ignacia's must be someone else's! Igna scurries away, but drops something like a kleenex box on the floor, which Gonzo picks up.
And Renato (said by Javier to be one of the richest men in America) calls a family meeting, in which he says that all these strange things, like pictures being torn, messages on mirrors (there are lots of mirrors in this show) rat poisoning and the possible re-forging of Adolfo's wedding ring are being done by SOMEONE, and no one's above suspicion. That includes YOU, spits back Carola!
Was intrigued by this one, but then really got turned off by Gonzalo. Married for one minute and in love with another woman, wow that gives me the creeps. I don't see him as the hero, as a matter of fact who is the hero in this novela? Nice to see Karla last night and yes back to her feisty self.
I agree, Nellie. Since Ignacia likes Javier, and Gonzalo likes Pilar, why don't they just switch!
Thanks for the great description of las estupideces de anoche, Jean.
Hombre, I also thought Consuelo would get away. I was yelling at my TV when she went into the water. "Rape kit, dummy! Go to the hospital, dummy!" And why is it that every miscreant in TV shows, in Spanish or English, seems to think that wearing a hoodie (face completely showing) is such a great disguise! Consuelo didn't see him, but lots of other people could have.
And it looks like Rosario's parents are leaning toward being complicit in crushing up pills made of God know what and putting them in her food!
Is this novela popular and they're trying to extend it? There's nothing but scorn in the posts on Telenovela World, so I have no idea what the ratings are.
It also made no sense whatsoever that Paula went back there to "say goodbye". Looks like nothing more than pulling the scab off.
Beatriz is getting stronger by the day. She tried to work out a visitation schedule with Nutcase José and got nowhere. When he tried his usual "You're a loose woman" line on her, she shot back that HE was the one who went after her and actually shut him up.
When Gonzalo really lost it grabbing Nibaldo, I thought I saw a little of Gato Fierres come out in him.
So the partially erased tape just confirms that Carola was getting it on with Adolfo. By the way, the way she kisses Leonardo (or is it Adolfo?) creeps me out.
Ignacia is taking tranquilizers while pregnant? Yikes!
Why on earth did Gonzalo put that ring in the night stand? I know, I know - plot development.
Speaking as the mother of a son, I could slap Pilar silly. I would never have let his father brutalize him that way. She's completely gutless.
It was kind of cute when Javier told Pilar's sister he needed an abogada despiadada y sin corazon en su bufete. It was NOT cute when he humiliated Pilar in front of the sister with whom she obviously has issues.
Leonardo came right out and told Carola that Ignacia killed Adolfo. True or red herring?
OH GAWD!! Like you, Hombre, I thought Consuelo would at least put up a major fight, but nooooo... she just cowered. I suppose no woman would be a match for a man's strenght.
But why do the writers have to make all 3sisters suffer???
why does Juan keep that hat on, even in the bedroom?? he's never without it now.
Pilar's sister's name is Rebeca, and she is really enjoying the fireworks between the families. She seems to have the hots for Gonzalo, too. I found out that "bufete" means law office (I thought it was the NAME of the office). So Javier, Gonzalo and Rebeca are all attorneys. But have we ever seen them practice any law? (right, Javier, made up some agreement for Renato).
Ignacia and Gonzo had so much tension that she left, saying "you'll never see me again". Maybe so. She's kidnapped by a mysterious stranger, who turns out to be someone working for Javier. So HE's behind at least SOME of the mischievous things!
We find out that Igor Mora was (I think) a doctor or hospital administrator who did something bad that would get him 15 years in jail. This is from clippings which Ignacia had saved and Gonzo found.
And Eva digs up a letter in her garden, in which Adolfo wrote 2 days before he died that he though Ignacia was going to kill him.
I think Javier killed Adolfo, and is trying to frame Ignacia, and/or drive her crazy. But I'm probably totally wrong, and I have no idea of any motive.
BTW, I love Hilda. She's always showing up at the wrong time (such as seeing Yolanda with her savings), and seems innocent, but maybe not THAT innocent :)
Dr. Diogenes Rugeles turns out to be extremely crafty. The actor is doing a good job. He began as a hopelessly in love schmuck who knew he had no chance with Lola. He's evolved into a ruthless guy who'll do anything to keep her.
He had Andrés and Lola meet in her bedroom to see if they could work things out. He promised an annulment if they could (yeah, right!). He spied on them, but was bemoaning the lack of audio for his spy system in her bedroom. Then he really came unglued when they ended up on the bed in a passionate embrace. Unfortunately, it's way too early in the novela for them to really make up. Turns out Andrés just wanted to torture her with the passionate kisses and hadn't really forgiven her at all.
Then Dr. D pretended to collapse by the stairs. Apparently he has some kind of heart issue (this is promising) because he does have a cardiologist. He gets Lola to help him into bed and tries repeatedly to paw at her. He refuses to let her call his cardiologist (because there's nothing really wrong with him right now).
He then gets a slimy anesthesiologist to come over and pretend to be his new cardiologist. He has a video of this guy apparently having sex with an unconscious female patient! This guy agrees to play along, and tells Lola and Etelfina (sp??) Diogenes doesn't have long to live. I assume the plan is to guilt her into having sex with him because she'll think it won't go on for long.
Sofía tells Rodrigo that Andrés really is his son. It kinda looks like Sofía is interested in him. But then Rod goes to the hospital again and tells Soledad how much he loves her. I wish she'd snap out of it. I'm kind of bored with her being catatonic. Maybe if she came to, we'd learn more about the guy she was running from.
There's a not very fun looking celebration of Debora and Andrés having married at the Santacruz home - mostly without the new husband present. Victoria is over the moon that her Güerita has finally married (trapped) Andrés, and she's not very subtle about it. In addition to being smashed, the dollar signs are showing in her eyes.
I love the casting of Rodrigo and Andrés - they resemble each other. their eyes are just amazing.
yeah, looks like Sofía's getting the hots for Rodrigo. that'll be interesting development. at this point, I'm inclined for them to end up together.
I'm trying to decide how I feel about these rape developments. My first reaction was that they're giving a terrible example to women viewers by having two attractive young women fail to tell anyone about the rapes. Obviously, if Rosario had told the truth, her sister would not have been raped. But then I thought: maybe that's the point the writers are trying to get across - that women need to get the guy off the street right away. Still not sure.
More idioteces. Pedro pulls a gun on Julieta to get her to go to the doctor. She's enraged that her chemo has worked and her life may be saved by surgery, actually slapping the doctor. She swears Pedro to secrecy. Looks like she'd rather guilt Juan into staying with her than have surgery and live.
Frankly, the entire Millán family probably was in "special ed" classes for the mentally deficient. I'm fed up with all of them:
1. Miguel almost ruins his marriage sneaking around with Sofía.
2. Rosa is obsessed with her daughters marrying into the Del Monte family, even, in Julieta's case, when the man loves someone else.
3. Julieta is loca de remate. Enough said!
4. Consuelo marries a poor man and wants a house with a swimming pool. She wants to produce a child just to please her crazy, dying sister. After being raped, she takes it out on her poor husband, saying he's never to touch her again.
5. Rosario was raped two years ago, told no one, is afraid of sex, then finally tells a couple of people but not who did it, and screams at her parents all the time.
6. The two elder Millánes take pills second hand (from Lucas), not even from the person who's the "expert", don't ask what's in them, and insist on feeding them to their daughter.
How many times is Gaspar going to threaten José with telling Juan Sofía and Paula are liars without doing it? 20? 25?
