Cuando Me Enamoro #73 Friday 7/29/11 Heated Arguments, Forlorn Fiestas, and Forced Apologies.

Feliz viernes a todos! Hopefully your weekend is starting off better than that of los Monterrubio. Practically everyone had a reason to cry tonight, so brace yourself with some comfort food or a cuddle with an obliging pet. Things are about to get ugly...

Renata continues to accuse Roberta of being La Bonita. Fina snaps at her to stop badgering her poor, ill sister as Berta clutches her chest and pants. Nata explains to Gonzo that Berta had a relationship with Rafa and she toyed with his feelings. Jero mistook Nata for Berta; he married Nata out of revenge for what Berta did to Rafa. Nata cries that she has been innocent the entire time. "It's Roberta's fault that Jero hates me so much!" Fina gives Nata a death glare.

Sele slinks outside to flirt with Agustin. He's looking for Nata, which puzzles Sele.

Jero paces the airport, trying to devise a plan to win Nata back. He knows Nata loves him because of how well she took care of him after he did a Humpty Dumpty in the riverbank. Nata needs to know that it was her mother and not Berta who convinced him of Nata's identity. Jero resolves to find out why Fina would have told him such a thing.

Berta bleats her innocence to Nata. Gonzo promises to call the cardiologist for Berta but first he must hear the rest of what Nata has to say. Nata lays into Berta; it was she who Rafa wanted to marry, it was she who dumped Rafa because he wasn't good enough for her. Fina says that the necklace isn't enough proof that Berta did anything wrong. Gonzo hesitantly agrees that the "R" alone can't prove Berta's guilt. Nata explains the "Rafa & Roberta 4eva" carving in the Arbol de Amor.

Nata refuses to be shouted down by Fina. There's no way that both names could be a coincidence! Gonzo thinks they need Jero's side of the story before they bring out the torches and pitchforks. Matias fumes that Jero hurt both Berta and Nata with his lies. His comment sends Nata over the edge. "WHAT did he ever do to Berta? NADA!!"

Gonzo talks Nata off the ledge by laying most of the blame for the situation at Jero's feet. Jero married Nata for revenge, jumped into a vicious plot without enough proof, and destroyed Berta's life too. Matias cannot keep a lid on it any longer. "Roberta's baby is Jero's!" If pobre Nata was distraught before, she is crushed now.

Oh, ick, Karina is tied to a chair and begs Dr. RapeySnake to let her go. He gloats, shouts in her face, and forces her to eat. It's too awful not to FFWD

Nata can't believe that the baby is Jero's. Fina turns to Berta with fake surprise and compassion. Berta cries about the humiliation of expecting the baby of her sister's husband. She hid it by marrying Matias. Nata sobs openly and asks why no one ever told her. Gonzo apologizes for not telling her but he didn't find the right moment. Berta says that she tried to tell Nata the truth about Jero but Nata didn't listen.

Nata remembers back before the wedding when Berta went on a diatribe about Jero playing both of them for fools. Berta says that Nata's love for Jero left her both blind and deaf to the truth. Fina takes Berta's side and criticizes Nata for running off with Jero without considering Berta's feelings. "You only think about yourself. As always."

Nata did what she did out of love. How could Berta have been so in love with Jero if she used both him and Rafa? Berta sweats she never messed with Rafa. Besides, everyone knows the only woman who had a relationship with Rafa was Nata. (Urrrrgh. Berta has learned well from Mami on how to play dirty.)

Nata screams that Rafa was her AMIGO! No matter what Berta and Fina say, their relationship was only friendship. Nata has all the proof she needs that Rafa and Berta were an item! Gonzo tells Nata to calm down. He is furious with el Jerko and vows to never forgive him for messing with his daughters. Gonzo vows that none of the Monterrubios will ever have contact with Jero again.

Augie tells Sele he will be waiting at a nearby hotel for Nata. She invites him out for coffee first.

Adriana finally gets why Matias had such pent-up aggression about Matias. Mat says he wanted to tell Nata but she rejected him. She said she was deliriously happy with Jero so Matias kept the secret and married Berta. Nata still loves Jero! She truly does. She was so unhappy with him because he thought she was Berta. Fina touts Berta's innocence, she told Nata not to marry Jero, yadda yadda yadda.

Nata can't believe that Jero would be such a malicious, rotten man. She turns her back to her family to try to compose herself.

Back downstairs, the wedding reception is still going on. I had forgotten about it completely. Soto, Fina's lawyer, asks Constanza why everyone seems to have disappeared. She leaves to check it out.

Berta half-cries half-whines that everyone has paid the price for Nata's relationship with Jero. Fina is the ever-loving mother to Berta and thanks Matias for sparing their family the embarrassment. Nata knows that Matias did what he did for her, not for Berta.

Coni wanders into the room and wonders QTH is going on. Adriana pulls her back out into the hallway to explain. Fina wants to help Berta clean herself up so she can parade around in front of the wedding guests. Matias is in no mood to celebrate. Gonzo tells Mat to go play happy family, at least for now. Left alone, Gonzo holds Nata as she lets it all out.

Coni returns to the party and has only snark to offer Honorio when he asks what's going on. They are having family trouble and Hon isn't family anymore. Honorio might not be family by blood but he is family by heart; those ties can't be cut so easily. Honorio can't understand how they ended up this way. He hates to see such contempt and indifference in Coni's eyes.

Hon swears that Blanca is full of it; they were only together one time. "Once is all it takes!" Coni says. She wants a divorce cuanto antes. Hon thinks Coni wants to split up so she can fool around with Chema. "Well, maybe I do! At least I don't have to hide it like you do with Blanca and her 'baby'" Coni says before leaving the forlorn fiesta.

Fina revels in her villainy while Berta has no desire to gloat. After what the doctor told her, she has no reason to be happy. Fina says that Berta should be enjoying herself since the time has finally come for Nata to be punished for everything she's done to them. Berta doesn't understand why Rafa abandoned her if he had made so many gestures of love (the necklace, the tree, etc). Why did he kill himself?

Fina says Rafa and Jero are a pair of locos. Berta is better off without them now that she has Matias. The miscarriage turned out to be a good thing, since now they don't have to take care of a brat that shares Loco Linares blood. Fina giggles that Berta should be thrilled since she's married and rich. What more could she want? Berta shrugs off her mother's embrace and heads out to face the troops.

Adri admires Matias for sacrificing so much for the better of his family. Matias did what he had to do. That doesn't mean he wouldn't sock Jero in the face at the first opportunity. Adri gives him a peck on the cheek.

Adri gives Augie a hug when she sees him hanging out in the yard. He leaves to wait for Nata.

Gonzo and Nata share a tender moment. They sit on the floor and hold hands while Nata pours her heart out to her papá. Gonzo understands Nata's pain and wants her to return home. Nata says that Fina told her there was no place for her in the family anymore. "I accept that my mom does not love me and that she never will love me. That does not mean it doesn't hurt." :'(

Gonzo is heartbroken that Fina did such a thing. "This is your house. This is your family. I am your father. In my heart, there will always be a place for you. Regardless of your madre, I will always be here for you." Nata gives Gonzo a big huge. Aww. *sniffle*

Gonzo tells Nata to never let anyone or anything break her spirit. Nata says her love for Jero has turned to hate. He gives her another comforting hug.

Ezequiel storms over to La Bonita. He demands that Carlos and Lazaro to tell him who has been knocking boots with Alfonsina. The guys are confused. Zeke says that Alfi doesn't know if her baby is his. He is sure that someone at La Bonita was fooling around with his wife.

Karina, bound and gagged, sobs as Doc drinks himself silly. Padre stops by the house and he asks Doc about Alfonsina's baby. Doc says it's not his problem. Padre admits he was wrong about Doc and calls him a bad, cynical man. Kari knocks a chair over and Doc keeps Padre from asking questions by saying it was the TV.

Jero arrives in Mexico, determined to set the record straight.

Oh. I guess Constanza *didn't* leave the party since she's come back upstairs to chat with Nata. Nata assures Tia Coni and Adriana that she will get Jero out of her heart one way or another. The ladies take their leave when Matias asks for a word with Nata.

Nata says Matias is the best guy in the entire world. She understands his reasons for keeping the secret and marrying Berta. Nata admits she fell in love with the wrong man. Mat hopes there can still be something between them but Nata squashes that right away. She loves him with her whole heart but only as a brother. Matias can live with that.

Gonzo tells Adri and Coni goodbye before letting Fina know that they need to have a serious talk in his office. Fina is uneasy, as there are several reasons why Gonzo could be upset with her.

Sele meets up with Augie in the hotel. She gives him her number and a kiss. Blech. Augie leaves a message for Nata.

Matias joins Berta in her room. Mat tells Berta that there is no reason for them to go on a honeymoon. Everyone knows that their marriage is a farce. They need to stop hiding things, it only causes more pain. Berta cries.

Gonzo can't believe that Fina would be so cruel to her own daughter. He thought that her illness would humanize her but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Fina defends herself. Nata wanted to ruin Berta's wedding. Gonzo says there were ways to handle that situation and what Fina did was not one of them. When it comes to Nata, Fina always handles it the wrong way. Gonzo can't stand by and let Fina treat Nata so poorly. "You will apologize to Renata and tell her that this is her house and that she can stay here as long as she wants."

Fina is scandalized that Gonzo would threaten her. Gonzo neither confirms nor denies the threat. But he does vow that if Fina does not have more consideration for Nata, he will stop having such consideration with Fina. "Apologize to Renata or she and I will leave." Fina gives a sour look and agrees to do it. Her hands are tied (for now).

The maid interrupts Nata's nap to announce that Jero has arrived and wants to see her.

Coni arrives home to find Chema waiting for her inside. She tells him the wedding was a disaster. Berta and Mat got hitched, Nata showed up in tears to accuse Berta of ruining her marriage with Jero, and, oh, yeah, Blanca's having a baby. (For breakfast? Because that is the only way this makes sense. I'm positive that Blanca's eggs dried up and blew away years ago.)

Well, Coni isn't as certain as I am. She was convinced that Honorio never cared that she couldn't have children but it seems like he didn't waste any time in finding someone who could. She asked Honorio for a divorce. Chema's spirits soar at the news and he asks if the divorce could be an opportunity for them. He even gets a Francisco Céspedes song to help his case. Constanza is on the cusp of rejecting him but Chema closes in for a kiss before she gets the chance.

Nata storms outside to meet Jero. She has no husband anymore despite what Jero says otherwise. Jero launches into what is an undoubtedly rehearsed forgiveness speech but Nata slugs Jero in the face. "Not one more lie, Jero! Get out of my life and do not look for me ever again!"

Avances: "The raw and naked truth" says the announcer. Jero shows up in front of the Monterrubio firing squad to explain himself. "You were Rafa's lover!" he says to Berta.

Vocab:

averiguar - to find out (Jero to himself)
recapacita - reconsider, think about (Kari to Doc)
Te lo dije, pero no me creíste - I told you, but you did not listen (Berta to Nata)
meterse con - to mess with, to pick on (Nata about Berta)
quebrantar - to undermine, to break (Gonzo to Nata)
lazos que no se pueden romper - Ties that cannot be broken (Hon to Coni)
desprecio - contempt (Honorio sees it in Constanza's eyes)
Ofrecerle una disculpa - Offer an apology (Gonzo to Fina)
La verdad cruda y al desnudo - The raw and naked truth (Lit. "The crude and nude truth").

Amy, you are fast! I just sat down to watch tonight's episode. What a treat, I can read along. Great title. By forlorn fiesta I imagine you mean the wedding reception, such as it is. What a dreary affair for the "boda of the century" as Roberta had bragged.

More later...

I'm confused, did Roberta and Jero do the dirty? In the flashback when Berta is talking to Nata, she tells her "no pude conmigo, por eso se metio contigo" (or something close to that) but in essence she was saying "he couldn't get with me so he moved on to you". So that was Nata's recollection and she didn't seem to catch it....

The avances look good...

Thanks for the great recap.

Amy, many thanks for the wonderful and ever so rapid recap. I have been glued to these last several opisodes so it is good to end my evening with your forlorn fiesta recap. Indeed, the farce of farces and no one seemed to have a good time or a good outocme to this debacle of debacles. But riveting writing! Whew. I told Sylvia on her post that I expect to bring a mop to my recapping on Monday since there are so many spilled messes to clean up. I am praying that the Kari/Dr. Lickyface travesty comes to a swift end with something hitting him between the eyes. eeewwww, I hate this sequence.

Other than Matias brave sacrifice, Carlos' hot cuteness, and Aridana's sweetness and understanding with all the people she really loves, there isn't a happy story or substory in the bunch.

Thanks to for the vocabulary list. Review is good, always.

What a great recap! I was able to enjoy even the rough patches because of your thoroughly enjoyable viewpoint and wisecracks.

rubycantu, no Roberta and Jero definitely did NOT do the dirty.

"Humpty Dumpty", good one!

"Berta bleats...", awesome verb. I'm adding it to my list.

"Fina is uneasy, as there are several reasons why Gonzo could be upset with her." Several? Oh at least. I'm hoping this is just the beginning of Gonzo finally realizing that Fina is a bad seed.

"Blanca's having a baby. (For breakfast?...)", LOL!!! OMG Amy you're too funny! What a great line, my favorite.

Well shut my mouth (or don't), did Chema go to the Fernando Colunga school of telenovela kissing? The little dude's got skills.

Amy, thank you for getting tonight's recap up so quickly. What a treat on a Friday night. I couldn't wait to watch this episode and I'm already jonesing for Monday. Thank you for the cool vocab list. My favorites are quebrantar and the crude and nude truth. In fact, from now on I won't say the naked truth, it will have to be the crude and nude truth.

I don't remember, but was there any circumstance under which Jer could have been fooled into thinking he did the nasty with Roberta?

Does anyone else think that Josefina wants to drive Renata to suicide then gloat at Regina?

Dr Death trying to feed apples to Karina... I felt like I needed a shower after that scene. The priest should have insisted upon entering the house after hearing the noise.

Great title, cute opening paragraph and then wow..."having a baby for breakfast?" What a slam! In fairness, I have to say the Guiness book of world records lists a natural conception and birth to a farm woman in California at...I believe...58. I do think our wicked Blaaaanca could come in under that wire. But who cares?...that was simply the funniest line ever.

Great vocab list too. I've, for sure, never heard the crude and nude truth before!

However...too much Awful going on right now. I tried to console myself last night by admiring Sylvia's acting skills. She's terrific, right down to the trembling lower lip.

And Berta (don't know the actor's name) really had a poignant moment when she stood, all dressed up in her little black going-away outfit...hopeful of at least a week of being away and coddled in some luxury hotel. Not happenin' Bert. You're stuck in the house of horrors along with everyone else.

Writers, please wrap up this Kari kidnap episode quickly. Just too disgusting.

Great recap Amy. Fast and furious....and funny.

Amy- What a great Saturday morning treat to start the day off with. I too snorted at Blanca having a baby for breakfast. :)

Ruby- Way back during that conversation Nata recalled, Berta did tell her that she and Jero did the nasty, but that he couldn't keep fooling her, like he did Nata, into falling in love with him. Right after that, Nata went to Jero and asked him point blank, he denied it and she took a leap of faith to trust him and believe him. That's why when she first found out Berta was pregnant, knowing what her sister told her before and what her sister is like, she asked Jero again at the hacienda if that babay could possibly, in any way, be his. He denied again. That is why everyone telling her the baby is Jero's is so painful, because she gave him two good opportunities to tell her the "truth."

Things are falling nicely into place for Jero to experience what it feels like to be falsely accused and to be hated by the one you love. Payback's a b!tch Jero...or at least Fina and Berta are.

Jero was totally sober, and Carlos was there the second half of the evening the one time Berta was in his apt. She did try to seduce him and get naked, but he put a stop to that. There is no way he can be fooled into thinking the baby could be his.

I did feel a tiny bit sorry for Berta as she stood there all packed and ready to go on her honeymoon that will never be (Judy- as fitting Berta, the dress was actually a very dark purple). But then I remembered how she had just really enjoyed destroying her sister emotionally, and I was over it. Great acting by everyone in the scenes in Nata's room. Loved the scenes of Nata and Gonzo (great job capturing those Amy), and Nata and Matias.

Selene and Augie...a pairing I never saw coming. Looks like she's over Chema...who is a good kisser. What will Connie do?

Off to spend the day with high schoolers on a college campus in 100 degree heat. Have great Saturdays everyone!

Oh, and I bet after witnessing all of this crazy family drama, Adri is glad she grew up with just her mom in a simple home. She was wide eyed impactada and crying during the whole bedroom scene.

Urban- When you get a chance, send me an e-mail (brownvinette at hotmail) so that I have all the Fuerza recappers' contacts.

Oh my, oh my! I had such a nice day off after all yesterday with my guests, and then after dinner when they headed back to hotels, I checked out Revelation Part 2. And I got thoroughly depressed. Amy your recap was awesome...sad to read through it all again.

I almost wished Gonzo and Nata had decided to leave that house. If she stays, you know Fina will do everything to destroy her mentally, and maybe even physically. She will have her chance again to lay her hands on that inheritance.

I couldn't feel sorry for Berta despite her sad face when Matias cancelled their trip. She needs that light bulb to go on that realizes Matias is never going to fall for her, especially now with the baby gone.(and I'm sure they'll blamce that somehow on Nata too.) She's stuck and it may not be worth it if she falls for someone else...(who at this point not sure).

"did Chema go to the Fernando Colunga school of telenovela kissing?" I remember our lil dude from a few other TN's and always "admired" his romance skills, even if he was the smuck. That was the only rewind moments of the evening. Hey, us older gals like a little fantasy too...

Sele and Augie - now there's a match made in hell. And I hope to have my finger on the channel changer or fast forward if and when those two do any sort of hook up. Blech!

I've said it before, and second Judy's comment, Stop the Kari/Dr. Demented scenes NOW. We get it how sick this cretin is...

I want everyone back at Baja. I hate these cold looking mansion locales and the office.

Vivi, have fun with the kids. Too bad about the temps. I've got a day out with my one son, his new girlfriend and a buddy he hasn't seen in awhile and they invited me to go with them for a fun lunch. (I sort of played second mom to the one buddy while they were in high school- he had a bad home life). Love hanging around with young people especially after a drudge week at work.'
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Amy, thanks for the great and rapid recap. Love the comment about Blanca's "eggs."

I am greatly impressed with Silvia Navarro's acting expertise. The girl can portray just about any emotion, very, very convincingly. I want to see her in more roles.

I'm growing increasingly repulsed by scenes of Dr. Scumbag torturing Kari. She's going to need to be hospitalized for a year at this rate.

Great recap and great episode! By the way my mother-in-law's mother was 50 when she gave birth to her. Can Blanca be under 50?
I had to see the part where Nata remembers what Berta had told her about being with Jero and it seems to me she admitted that she was never with him. She said Jero took her to his apartment and there he tried to take advantage (wow!) of her but since she did not permit it he was now trying to take advantage of Nata. I'm very confused now and so is Nata.
I do think Nata is a great actress although that vein that pops out in her forehead really distracts me.

Chuchi

Oh, that lavender lipstick makes Berta look like a corpse. Does anyone think it is some kind of metaphor? is that even the right word for it?

Chuchi

Ladies, great recaps this week, thanks.

Last night was very emotional. I wish Fina would give it a rest, how long has she been torturing poor Renata? And Roberta is no better than her mother. Next week will not be any better. Roberta and Fina have to fake a miscarriage to get away with their evil plot. But whatever happens, I am sure it will be Renata's fault or so they will say.

What a strange boda, it seemed more like a wake, Fina even wore black for the occasion.

No Pity Party for Roberta, I don't see any redemption for her.

Selene is just one hot to trot sex machine. Agustine better watch out!

Rosemary

@Chuchi...Blanca could definitely be under 50. And my great-grandmothers all continued having babies until 45 or 46. For farm families, that wasn't unusual.. Nor were families ranging from 8 to 12 children or so. But my favorite story was a friend's great-grandmother from West Virginia who had 21 children. The kids had to go to Mass at different services so they could pass the shoes around. And even then, sometimes Mom, an incredibly good-hearted lady, would have given away a needed pair of shoes to someone she considered even poorer and "necesitado" than her own family. God bless these women!

@Daisynjay...sounds like a great outing with your son, fiancée and friend. Says a lot about what a good mom you are that they wanted you to go out with them. Is there a "boda" in the near future?

Thank you Amy! Wonderful recap of an emotionally intense ep. Oh. Me. To-tal. Gawd! Poor Renata! How is her heart taking all this high drama, these lies, emotional and physical abuse from fanatical fina, the car wreck! How much can she take! As you all rightly guessed, the triumph of her unmasking was short lived as the Jero as baby daddy lie was flung in her face. Now that he has been rightly demonized but wrongly accused (as playing Roberta and knocking her up) when he comes to reveal that it was Fina who poisoned him against Renata, of course no one will believe him! And yes, though I have tried to begin his redemtion, I'm sorry, the slap WAS satisfying.

As for Kari's being terrorized by that walking oozing wound of "human" flesh, it's just horrible to behold. I hope they don't drag that out for too long and that someone eventually misses Kari. Probably Super Lazaro will have to save her a-gain.

And I'm sure others have said it but love your observation: "I'm positive that Blanca's eggs dried up and blew away years ago" -- in one of my Blanca rants weeks ago I said I just knew pregnancy wasn't going to be in her bag of tricks. Wrong! I still think this is a booty-stoopid plot line. And Chema was appropriately immature to immediately approach Coni as he did, "if you're leaving Hon, can I have some, hunh?, can I? can I? pleeeeze?" Uuuuuf! Hate this story line too. Reminds of that sick teacher having sex with one of her underage students. . . .not appealing at all!

More high drama on Monday! Thanks again, Amy.

Lila

No, Judy, they are taking it slow and no rush to the altar. It's all about finishing college and probably grad schools. And after a summer working in the YMCA camps with 1st and 2nd graders, as much as my son loves the kids, he said it has definitely convinced him in no way, shape or form is he ready to deal with his own kids anytime soon. (And his girlfriend always pops up with " I'll second that" -she plans to be a psychologist and work with troubled teens).

I was a late-in-life Mom (though nowhere near as "Late" as Blanca-haha) so I'm all for their thinking.

Amy, thanks for your vivid recap of a show that had me riveted the entire time.

Looks like I'm late arriving.

I was most impressed by...

Roberta

What physical stamina. I was so sure that she would crash and burn.

1. She has a heart problem

2. She suffered an abortion

3. lots of bleeding

4. delayed D&C (since she was left sterile, she may have had to have a hysterectomy though I don't see how she could be up and about)

5. probably sepsis... which if not properly and aggressively treated could lead to among other things, infection (SBE) of heart valves (see 1.)

I don't think, even with her amazing performance, that she is out of the woods.

I savored that slap and then replayed it several times. I find it deeply satisfying that he was falsely accused and unjustly punished.

But I still don't think that he's learned anything. That fade to sepia look wasn't hurt... is was hate. I don't like this man.

I feel so sorry for Matias. Gonzo may have been great with Renata, but he got it all wrong telling Matias to gut it up and go along.

I kind of like the Selene and Augie diversion... if you guys think that Matilde can be pesky...

Carlos

Hey all, another round of excellent comments not to mention our own medical consultant. Thanks Carlos! We'll be keeping an eye on Roberta in the near future. Poor little viper, she did look crestfallen when Matias told her no honeymoon.

I like the Selene/Augie diversion too. She's creepy and tacky, but frankly I didn't blame her in the least for going after Augie. If I were a bored little rich girl at such a loser wedding reception I'd explore other options for entertainment as well.

"oozing wound of human flesh", oh my word. Lila you certainly have a wonderful way with words, LOL!!

Flores--I could almost see the tears on your keyboard as you typed. I certainly shed some watching the episode.

That scene in the bedroom was heart-wrenching--with Nata's supporters just standing there with bugging eyes and slack jaws.

At least they all came through for her at the end--Adri, Coni, Mat and Papi. She needs these folks to help her, but I agree--not within the walls of that Misery Mansion (a la Eva Luna).

Rubycantu--I agree with Chuchi that Berta told Nata in one of the Sisterhate scenes when Nata first learned that Bertie and Jero had been stepping out--that he'd TRIED with her and didn't get anywhere.

Renata's shock was that Jero and Berta had been going out and he'd never said anything to her. Berta charged her to ask him about it. He acknowledged that he had been out with her, she'd come to his apartment, and something ALMOST happened, but it didn't. She was more angry that he hadn't mentioned it the night before when they had started to "share" secrets. He claimed he did it to protect Berta's honor, not to withhold anything from Nata.

Meanwhile, I went back to the wedding scene where Lorela appears on the scene and MAKES a scene. Renata is furious that he hadn't mentioned a prior novia. She had told him everything about herself and he'd never bothered to share this with her.

In our Caray discussions we've sort of blamed Jero for walking out on Lorela in such a cruel manner, while she was still in the hospital (or that's the scene we saw). I agreed at the time that it was not the mark of a gentleman.

In the rewind, it seems as though Jero was ready to marry and settle down--it was Lorela that was not ready to make a commitment. This comes out in the conversation that Carlos is having with her after he takes her aside on the church steps. He basically blames her for his walking out of the relationship.

Judy--Berta is played by Jessica Coch. I think of her as coming from the Julia Roberts school of acting--she uses her very large mouth to be the focus of attention.

There was so much to relieve the saddness of the episode from expired eggs to nude truths, from the FC school of kissing to Dr. Lickyface, from hot to trot sex machine to Chema's can I have some, hunh?, can I? can I? pleeeeze?" to make it bearable without having a girl jump out of a cake or a mariachi serenade. Jero deserved that slap. Unhappily for us, it will take, what 65 episodes to get them back on track.
NOK

Ahhhh, what a fun and talented group! You guys slay me! Doc Carlos' points about Roberta are right on and emphasize that she is even in greater risk. NOK, Cap'n or anyone who remembers: Didn't Fina take Roberta out AMA when she was due for surgery (the hysterectomy?) in the morning? If this is so Berta's got to crash, go to ER and then they will lie and say it was a miscarriage, no doubt the result of Renata's wedding crashing, Roberta trashing antics! And, of course, everyone will look at her with accusing eyes and thus another load of guilt and persecution for our long-suffering heroine!

Lila

Lila--I thought the lady Doc wanted Berta to remain under observation for 24 more hours. I think they had done the surgery already because that's when Berta learned that "lamentablemente" (I love that word--it almost takes longer to say than to type it.) in her case she will not be able to have any children.

Fina sprung her that morning of the day of her wedding so there wouldn't be any 'splaining a delay in the wedding. Berta had to go along with Fina and told Docksie that she was feeling fine. So, the Doc says, ok, but I do not approve and it will not be on my authority that she is released. You take responsibility if something happens.

I think you are right, Lila, that she'll have a relapse and this will land her in the hospital for the "miscarriage," to be blamed on Nata.

I sure hope that lady Doc can't be bribed and the hospital doesn't lose records or give them to just anybody, as they do in other tn's. Team Renata is going to need the hospital records to prove that Berta had been there before the wedding and not at a spa, so the miscarriage is not her fault.

This is getting sooooo good! My word verification is curiese, like I'm getting more and more all the time.
NOK

Thanks NOK, wasn't sure about the timing of her medical treatment and leaving AMA. If Berta doesn't get sick and fake a miscarriage, I hope they won't stoop as low as a fake baby bump and then by torturous logic and even more torturous logistics steal Alfie's baby. You guys know how these writers are. If they do it, I called it!

Amy! SUPERB recap! Absolutely super!!

Roberta has never made me feel anything for her. Even her new found sterility did not touch my heart strings. Why? Because she has actively participated in every monstrous thing that Ugly Fina has done. Berta has openly enjoyed harming others emotionally and she ESPECIALLY enjoyed every harmful thing she said to Nata.

This one is going to learn in such a very, very hard way that she will, indeed, pay for what she has done.

Agree as to how Fina and Berta will make this miscarriage look like it 'just happened'. You can already see Berta and Fina with their UGLY mouths spewing out there venom to Nata.

My one hope is that Gonzo has had a bit of a shake up wrt how Fina has been towards Nata.

I'm glad that Matias told Berta there wasn't going to be any Luna de Miel. I am, frankly, surprised that she thought it would happen!

Sylvia Navarro was so incredibly good in those scenes! It was heart wrenching to watch. I think this TN has already come up for premios and the only one who won was the ugly Rocio/Fina.

I am really disappointed as just compare how SN is portraying this character relative to how Ruffo is handling hers over on TdA.

Rocio/Fina does a good job, though, as just seeing her ugly mouth and hearing the spiteful words that come out of it make me feel ill.

...and the Kari scenes! OY! I had to turn away. The padre called it: he told that scum bucket that he was a sick man. Too bad that the padre didn't think to investigate the noise in the bedroom. Just how long will Kari go 'missing' before someone starts to worry?

As for the avances, Jero is so hated by everyone in that family, why should anyone believe him? Fina and Berta are born naturals when it comes to lying and making things up at the drop of a hat.

I don't think Jero will be believed. Fina has spent a lifetime lying. Her skills are finely honed. She and Berta's ugly mouths will prevail.

Matilde is just a nuisance, but Berta...she's right up there with her mother.

Susanita

Great points on how Berta and that sorry excise for a mother can lie about her miscarriage. If she lands in the hospital again, my onle hope is that Inez will spill the beans about the fact she heard she had already lost the baby and had seen there before. Hard for me to think anyone would picture Inex a liar. There's got to be a writer's reason why she find out the truth.
Finally one good reason why we've dealt with the little guy's illness - had to have Inex in the hospital!!! (I hope).

Amy what a great recap and wonderful job you did thank you.

This was a very emotional episode as Renata tries to unmask Roberta but her unmasking becomes the unmasking of what her husband was really all about.

Ita about Dr.scumbucket and his kidnapping storyline with Kari let's end this real soon.

Ezek is going crazy looking for who was knocking boots with his wife and might have gotten her pregnant? Dr. Drink better be very scared.

Vivi i just so enjoyed that extreme Pimp slap that Renata gave Jerko i had to replay it over and over again. Totally agree now it's Jerko's time to experienced being falsely accused. Also i never saw the Stalking Selene and Auggie pairing coming. She's not going to like when she finds out how obsessed he is about Renata.

I was very touched by the Gonzo and Renata scene along with Matias and Renata scene.

Susanita in total agreement with everything you said about Roberta she has made her bed and i'm not very sympathetic towards at all.If she was ready to break free of her mother and her evilness then she would have come clean and admitted to everyone right there when Renata confronted her that it was true. But she kept denying everything.

Her hold over making Matias dance to her tune by threatening to tell Renata who the real baby's father is. Can't be used anymore on him. That's why he told her this marriage is a farce and everyone knows now so lets stop with the pretenses.

I have to agree with everyone that both mother and daughter probably will blame the miscarriage on Renata.

One thing that didn't happen when Renata confronted Roberta on her relationship with Rafael in front of everyone. Is what Adriana discovered from the bartender it was Roberta who was meeting Rafael not Renata. I was expecting her to join in with this crucial piece of condemning evidence but she remain silent.

Blusam: You are right! I had completely forgotten that Adri had confirmed that it was Roberta who was meeting Rafa.

I sure hope Adri springs with the infos!!

Thank you for reminding us of that fact.

What great comments since I've been gone! Once again I have to say how impressed with SN I am. If the TVyNovelas Premios people only look at one clip, just looking at those scenes in the bedroom should, in my mind, have won it for SN. Apparently, since she was an Azteca star, the Televisa run TVyNovelas Premios people still snub her. Below's a reminder of who the 2011 winners were. I am actually also watching PVaA and Teresa. I agree that all of them are very good/not the norm. But as much as I like Angelique B. and think she's doing a great job as Teresa, I would have given the award to SN for best protagonist based on acting, hands down. The range of emotion we have seen in Nata far surpasses what AB has had to do for Teresa.

2011 Winners:
Mejor Telenovela: Para volver a amar.

Vivi: Gracias for the list. I saw the Premios, but could not remember who had won. I just remember that PVaA had won in quite a few categories.

I would agree that Angelique Boyer does not match SNs wide acting range that she is demonstrating here in CME. I am so disappointed that SN did not win.

Silvia being the biggest star from TV Azteca was more of a problem last year. This year she got more friends and people warmed up to her but the director of TVyNovelas has a personal grudge with her. Not only she didn't win but she was taken out of the nominees before the show. As always, Silvia said nothing and made it known she didn't care but Alfredo Adame was furious about this and called the director of TVyNovelas all sort of names and claimed Silvia was the best actress in Mexico. Adame is a little hot headed, but he is a nice guy and I do think Silvia is one of the best actress we have, not just in tv.

By the way, I found this really nice old interview Silvia did for the Cosmo channel a few years ago while she was doing Montecristo. It is long but its pretty good, she speaks about her past works and you get to see clips from them. She also speaks about her approach to acting, likes and dislikes, etc:

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

When she says that Café con Aroma de Mujer/Cuando Seas Mía was going to be remade she was talking about Destilando Amor.

At the end of the second clip when she says "¡aquí la bonita soy yo!" made me laugh out.

Jarocha

@Newbie...Thanks for the name Jessica Coch. I think I can remember that one. Harsh sounding like the characters she's played so far. Would like to see her in something sweeter for a change.

@Jarocha...muchas gracias for the Silvia interview. Have just seen the first part but look forward to viewing the rest later today. She comes across as verrrry intelligent and dynamic. Interesting lady.

Jarocha- What a great interview. Thank you for sharing those links with us. I've just watched part one of the interview and what struck me is that SN LOVES her work. I did not detect that sense of weariness or obligation that you sometimes hear from some of the big tn stars, or even see in their acting (or lack there of) when a tn has become too silly. I can understand their weariness, but they are getting paid for a job. It's nice to see someone who understands that, has a great work ethic, and also seems to love her work and the medium in which she works. She seems to love tns as much as her audience does. I like that she doesn't feel like she's gotten stereotypical roles, that her heroines have tended to be strong women (I say it's the way she plays them), and that she understands that the audience vicariously suffers through her and she likes to make us cry. I also thought it cool that she believes in improvisation, while remaining in character. It speaks to her acting ability. Also found it interesting that she loves comedy. It would be fun to see her in one. I think she'd do physical comedy well.

Thank you, Jarocha for those clips. Something to savour later today. :))

Vivi: Based upon the wonderfully funny bathroom scene between Jer and Nata, I would say that she would be great in comedy. Loved how she played that scene.

Susanita

Jarocha, thanks for the clips, I will look at them this evening. On the SN as comedic actress, I am also remembering that you or someone gave us some clips recently of SN and Juan Soler joking in a Skype interview and they both seemed so full of fun. I bet they would both be great in a comedy.

Roberta deserves to stand there in her beaoutiful little get away dress alone with the knowledge that no one is falling for her lies and deceit, especially Matias has not been blinded. Maybe she will begin to wake up before it is too late. Fina will just use her however suits her and she has already shown us that she doesn't care if she risks Roberta's health and welfare to do it.

Selene and Augie may be an item, note that while obsessed with getting Renata, he still found time to boink Arely until she made too many demands. Selene will probably jump at rhe chance to be with him, whatever the offer. At least she will leave Chema alone for a bit. I hope Consta gets some confidence building in a hot if brief encounter with Chema. I can't imagine that she will stay away from Honorio forever but she will until this nightmare with the boiled egg lady, Blanca is revealed as another cruel hoax.

Thanks for all the great comments, this has been a weekend to chew over an explosive week of revelations.

Jarocha! Thank you for the clips on SN! I'm still on the first one, I was so drawn by the soulful, haunting theme song "Cuando Seas Mia"! I've already faved it in my YouTube account and I am going to see about buying it. Wouldn't mind finding the novela either. Thank you so much! Gonna finish the clips!

Lila

Cheryl: Batty Blanca, The Boiled Egg Lady!

Oh my!!

Gracias!

Susanita

Vivi: Silvia has gotten the chance since then to play comedic characteres on film and theathre. She always comments on how much she enjoys them. I think at the time of that interview she had already done "Chicas Católicas" which was a pretty funny play. Her first novela "Perla" had a little bit of comedy too and both her and her male co-star had great timing. That was another novela where the male lead started completely unlikeable but, unlike Jero in CME, Roberto was a charming bastard so he was fun even when he acted like an infuriating (to Perla mostly) vain jerk. That way when he was reformed it was easily accepted by all viewers.

I always enjoy Silvia's interviews, she's very energetic and has lots of charisma.

Lila I also like the CSM theme. Here's the complete opening sequence.

Jarocha

Yowza Jarocha...thanks for putting the link to the Cuando Seas Mia entrada. The photography technique was sensational. One of the best opening sequences I've seen. I always loved Carla Estrada's Pasion opening sequence, ditto for Amor Real, but this one has a fascination and charm all its own. Love the rippling water effect.

Thank you Jarocha! Love that song, smokin' hot! So many novelas, so little time!

Lila

Azteca used to do good opening sequences back then. I think the key was keeping them simple and classy.

Sometimes people would complain they were too simple but those were the ones I really appreciated. Like this one, from one of my favorites of theirs (ramblings: It also has one of my favorite couples ever, Lucía and Javi, they have the saddest finale I've ever seen for a couple in a telenovela as he has to kill himself in front of her to let her go, because he didn't have the strenght to do it while being alive. He was an irredeamable monster and you knew there could only be one ending for him but you still couldn't help but hope Lucía's innocent love would change him and they would ride into the sunset together).

Great recap Amy. My favorite line: “Blanca's having a baby. (For breakfast? Because that is the only way this makes sense.”

I’m not a violent person, but when Fina walked out of the bedroom after the big showdown and gave that sickening smile to Gonzo, I had to say, out loud, “I can’t wait until she dies.”

Less than minor point, I know, but it’s bugging me. Didn’t Berta have a little veil pinned to her hair in the bedroom scenes. I didn’t see it at the ceremony and thought she had. Am I hallucinating?

Fina has to apologize to Nata. That should be a trip. Watch her apologize without actually apologizing.

Vivi: Love it! “Payback's a b!tch Jero...or at least Fina and Berta are.”

I agree. They’ll fake the miscarriage and blame it on Renata’s accusations.

I don’t like Berta, but, for some reason I can’t explain, I would like to see her redeemed. She’s, at least at the moment, not too happy with her mama. Hopefully, that will be the beginning of the end. There’s a lot of venom to be gotten rid of though.

Robey

Catching up on some June eps and this was in the recap for June 16: “Doc pretends that he’s there giving Alf some vineyard advice, acts completely guilty, then quickly skedaddles. Ezekial asks since when is the doctor an irrigation expert? Yep, he’s suspicious.” Let’s hope Ez remembers that. (Thanks, Sylvia).
