Thanks to our hostess with the mostess Paula and our resident photograper Carlos. I could only think of a caption for the second selection . It is prompted by the look of utter disbelief on Tia Isabel's face : ''Holy *#@* !!!!! That @*#*@*# shot my darling Cristobel !!!!!'' By the way, when we got that closeup of Luis sitting on his bed gazing at the cross overhead and thanking God for news of Rafael, all I could think of was...''I'd like to run my fingers through that long, dark, wavy hair.'' Am I now doomed along with Diego ???? I don't relish the thought of spending eternity in hell with him constantly whining about not having any friends.

Tks Paula,
OMG Carlos, the best yet.
WHY were people applauding when the pedaza de mierda, Diego shot Cristóbal?
Seems to me they all should think he's a disgusting coward. I'm sure Antonio & Rodrigo do. And Diego wonders WHY he doesn't have friends?
What beef does he have with Cris except that he is Luis's BFF?

Ja, ja ,ja Susanlynn, me too, but we would pull all those extensions out.

V, the only one applauding voluntarily was Gasca, and Diego just last night told Antonio the only person on his side is Gasca, and that's because Diego pays him so well. The others were applauding out of fear - they were the servants, and Gasca had given them a look that said, "Clap or else!" They know Gasca's power, and they were afraid to disobey.

I think we've crossed a threshold. As a result of the duel:
Juana is much more aware of the monster she created.
Rodrigo and Antonio have discarded any shred of respect - all they have for Diego is disgust.
Luis's attitude toward Diego will change drastically. How? That's yet to be seen.
With his chat with Antonio last night, we see that Diego is sinking deeper into the pit.

Why weren't those servants afraid of Juana, even she was shocked & Isabel, she has some power.

Holy charisma, what a monster Diego is. Susanita, that bed is going to get crowded but you stated it so elegantly.

Thanks Paula and Carlos for your sterling efforts for our enjoyment. The photos totally capture the pinnacle of the episode.

Darn it, I was hoping to watch this episode before I shove off for the weekend. Shoot shoot shoot (oops, no pun intended). I'll catch up with y'all sometime on Sunday.

Variopinta,

After Diego's dismal practice session yesterday (I don't believe he broke a single glass), I guess the the servants felt obligated to applaud. I suspect that Diego was as surprised as anyone that his bullet struck Cristobal.

Remember, yesterday Cristobal told Catalina that nothing was going to happen to him. She asked, "Are you sure?" He said, "Nothing that God doesn't want." Hmmmm.

Susanlynn,

After reading your husband's observation about Perla's parasol, this afternoon I went back for another look at Perla (I know... tough job) and sure enough, an aluminum shaft, the little modern release on the shaft to retract the canopy, and a plastic handle at the bottom. Good eye there.

Carlos

Carlos~~~He's a very good hubby. He was actually looking at Perla's parasol! Can you believe it ? Well, I'm pretty sure he was looking at some of Perla's other...things, too.

I loved that Diego, instead of stalking off in glory after scoring a shot on Cristobal, had to be staunching his bloodied nose. I enjoy all the little touches the actor brings to this twit el conde de Guevara.

I enjoyed Diego shoving his ''friend'' Antonio as he passed him. The guy wonders why he doesn't have any friends !

Carlos--These images were unbelievable. Kudos to you for both. You even got the flash of the powder from the gun.

Variopinta--They were Diego's men applauding, not the ladies up on deck. And as others noticed, Antonio and Rodrigo were not. I think they were a bit shocked that Diego would try to actually harm Cristobal after Cristobal deliberately fired in the air.

Cristobal's men were too busy tending to him.

And bless Isabel, she was first lady to tear down the steps to help. Juana just looked relieved that Diego didn't get shot or die, but she looked pretty disgusted and disappointed for his actually taking aim at the sky and then lowering his arm to shoot directly at Cristobal.

The scuffle and bloody nose--great touch, even though it came from Luis and not Cristobal.

Variopinta--The beef between Cristobal and Diego was pride run amuck. He resented the fact that Cristobal interfered with what he thought was a droit-de-seigneur with Catalina and Marina. He said to Cristobal's face that he only had Catalina in his house to be his querida.

Cristobal took offense. Things might have turned out very differently if Diego and Rodrigo had had the ladies come to the palace and cornered them there. Cristobal was defending a woman's honor in his own house. If it had been anyone else than Catalina, the story also might have had a different outcome.

But, Vario--you are right, Diego would gladly stick it to anyone that is tight with Luis.

Susanlynn--I'm with you and everyone else who chose to be at Luis side yesterday to soothe him and tenderly embrace him and....well, and in general look like Lucero.

Oh My God! They killed Cristobal!

OK, they didn't kill him (I hope). But I couldn't resist a little South Park humor.

I am as ticked at Diego as Luis is. What an a**hole! I hope Isabel takes the palace right now. Forget whatever deal she made with Juana. Anyway, I thought part of the deal was that Diego not try to kill Cris during their duel. All bets are off now.

I love the expression on Isabel's face in that photo. She's my favorite character in this novela--other than FC, of course. Speaking of FC, I could just freeze every frame he's in and just stare for hours! Of all the novelas he's been in, he looks the most handsome in this one IMO. My favorite character of his though is Manuel in Amor Real (one of my favorite novelas). His character was so complex and brooding and he portrayed him with such depth and emotion-sigh-but I digress.

Victoria in Fl.

I stayed up late last night to watch the rest of my Alborada DVD--I just couldn't wait to see the rest of the story.

I won't give away a thing, promise, and I look forward to watching the daily episodes to get the maximum time with FC et al.

In the Extras, there is one interview hosted by some mouthy long-haired blonde called Adela with: Daniela, Fernando, Monica, Eduardo Laguardia and Carla Estrada.

Without the subtitles on, I'll have to go back to catch it again, especially where they are talking over each other. The biggest surprise--how young Eduardo seems to be. He's hardly recognizable as Cristobal, with his own hairstyle, coat and tie. FC--we'd know him anywhere.

The Bloopers were fun, but I think Lucero giggles and hams it up too much. I saw the scene where Sara sets fire to Victoria's hair by accident. Based on these bloopers, I can see why it might take so long to shoot some of these scenes.

In the Adela interview several mentioned little Rafael and how absolutely marvelous he was. He got used to having 50 surrogate parents around him for 6-7 months. They all loved him.

Carla said, in response to a question about the casting, that it's a group decision (herself, Monica and a few others) to identifiy who they would like to be cast in certain roles. They didn't specifically name any one actor in Alborada, but (naturally) pick actors they think will fit the character and really bring it to life on the screen.

From time to time they are disappointed when someone they think is right is not available and they have to go back to the drawing board.

Daniela said about her role, that this is the best one she's ever had; but it's typical of every role she finishes, until the next one. She also mentioned that she had lost a lot of weight during the filming. She also was forced to become an early riser, rather than the nightowl she is normally.

Wow, what an episode! And Carlos, your screen captures are absolutely perfect. Daniela Romo was magnificent. Luis Guzman did a superb job portraying Diego's momentary out-of-character lapse when it seemed he would fire into the sky, but then the devilish Diego came roaring back and he aimed for Cristobal. How I loved watching Luis attack him and his "friends" Antonio and Rodrigo become utterly disgusted with him.

Paula, I agree we have crossed a threshold with this episode. It seems that Juana can no longer hide the truth from herself that her son Diego is a complete wretch.

Hey, we even got a title for this recap!
