Cuando Me Enamoro #79 Monday 8/8/11 Arrested Development Meets Arresting Developments

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, see what fun we had. The skies are blue again after the terrible fires. The dogs are Lupita, a Mexico City refugee, Sierra, a pure St. Bernard, she is 95lbs and only 1 year & 3mos. and of course Willa my big poodle who will be 7 in Sept. Note that treat time is the best part of the hike!

Some Vocabulary:
Arrested Development – desarrollo atrofiado o desarrollo detenido
Mental Disorders - trastornos mentales
Arresting (Developments) –
A report or accusation of a crime - denuncia formal (What Jero filed)
To Arrest - detener or arrestar o apresar
An Arrest – una detención
An Arrest Warrant – Una(s) Orden(es) de detención o la orden de arrestar
Or – Una orden de aprensión – words used to arrest Roberta
Or – Mandato judicial de detención
Cardiac Arrest – el paro cardiaco o el sincope cardiaco (what Fina is having?)

I have been so ready to drive some pie carts through this entangled plot for weeks.
Now where to begin:

From last Friday, Regina tells Inez about her happiness at breaking free and expressing herself. This is love says lovely Inez. She suddenly sees Fina and Roberta walk by but by the time Regina stands up to look at them, they are out of sight. She says her odd feelings of turned tables, now she is the OTHER woman.

Augie presses his case to get Renata out of her marriage post haste. She repeats the torn photo story and says she guesses she won’t have that perfect picture of husband, family, dog and fireplace but Augie suggests, well certainly not with Jero but perhaps with another man….

The big development: Jeronimo and Carlos show up at the police station to formally denounce and accuse Dr. Nesmethenasty, Augustin Dunante and Roberta Montrubbio as suspicious persons in the murder of his brother Rafael. Jero only wants justice. Now that he knows that his brother was murdered, there will be hell to pay. His aside to Carlos is that he was distracted earlier by his love for Renata but now he wlll avenge his brother’s murder. A bit more of the arrested development in our reforming underhero.

Gonzo shows up with sparkle in his eyes and a skip to his step, compliments the receptionist about how well she looks then continues down the hall only to encounter the dour work group that has discovered Blanca has made transfers of their investments of considerable sums into (fantasmas) bogus accounts. Gonzo swears they will move heaven, earth and sea to nail her extortingass. Honorio says she planned this from the first day and was so convincing and so competent seeming that no one watched. In fact he signed things she gave him without reading carefully so he will look responsible for the loss of funds. Hon owns up that the situation is very grave, the entire business is at risk.

Jero signs the complaint to launch the arrests. Carlos counter-signs as witness. Jero and Carlos leave assured that the search for justice is underway….again….

Augie is annoyingly (to me anyway) glued to Renata all the way into the lobby of MontedeProblemas (aka, Empresa Monterubbio) He waxes on how he will be at her disposal but she reassures him that she will not be at his side (you know as main-squeeze.) He has to go to the airport but will return day after tomorrow to help her with the divorce proceedings. She looks aside at this controlling gesture, but still seems to be convinced of his great good intentions. As he leaves Renata wonders why Jero couldn’t have been like this with her.

Daniel calls Blanca to tell her the game is heating up and he is scared of being discovered. Where did she put the money? You have to withstand the pressure, she says sexily In her new office at some trendy bar, with morning brandy already poured, she tells him he has to take risks if her wants the ton of money he will get from his cooperation.

Constanza and Chema show up a the park with the embroidered table cloth that must have been his mother’s. She must be twirling in her grave as he set the red wine on the cloth and kisses Consta. Chema is kissing her telling her to get it into her head that she should just feel her feelings and let go. (Sorry, I just channeled my mother for a minute there, fussing about the lovely old table cloth .) Let’s just enjoy the going-no-where but enjoyable foreplay by the best kisser in the whole telenovela. (Sorry again, I’m not channeling anyone else this time…)

Jero thinks how he could have acted so differently if he had knows that Rafa’s death was a murder not a suicide. He texts to Renata that he misses her knows she is innocent and loves here. (I must add, the photography on these constant texting scenes is so professional! They must not have gotten a product endorsement though as we never see if it is iphone, droid, blackberry, or what.)

Gonzo and Renata talk that Blanca’s theft is so great that they could be driven into bankruptcy. It’s like old times for Renata to step back into her role they discuss how the transfers into bogus accounts can be traced if she will help. After all, she is the expert says loving Papa. He doesn’t want to hire someone new and unknown into this mess. She promises to stay and fix it all. He assures her he doesn’t know what happened on the stairs but believes she would never do anything to harm her sisterugly (I know, not Gonzo’s spoken words) and she is grateful for his confidence and belief in her.

Dr. NesmetheNasty is lying in the plaza taking drippy swigs from his bottomless flask when the police show up to identify and arrest him. He is only too happy to identify himself since they use “Doctor” Just in time Padre comes out of a store and watches the whole thing which he can then recount to an amazed Kari who finishes buying stuff for the church and refuge center, when she emerges from the store a complaining but incoherent husband was just driven off in a patrol car. (I think he could just as well been arrested by the fashion police for continuing to wear those 70’s leisure suits that he has in way too many colors.)

Renata texts back to Jero that she doesn’t understand anything about him. But she doesn’t pick up the phone.

Adriana comes into Renata’s old office and is so excited her old friend is back. Matias comes in with books and when Renata asks if his presence means he believes her innocence, he assures her he also knows she was not responsible for the fall, but they so have these books to worry about. Adriana ever the great team motivator says they will work together to move forward with the company.

Jero is still trying to figure out why Renata won’t call him back, he can’t warn her about what is coming.

We see split screen and triple screen how Renata can do the work of three and then she finds a notebook in a cabinet and runs out to report to Matias that they need to talk with papa and uncle about what she has discovered. In a NY minute (o un D.F. minuto,) she has figured out that they had certain confidential information that was never on the computer but in notebooks under lock and key because some information if available on the computer would have made them vulnerable privacy raids on the computer. So they kept the information in notebooks and in computers. But someone knowing the private information could prejudice their customers. Renata already knows that the only one who had knowledge of all this way of keeping the archived records was Daniel. He worked directly for her and Adriana and knew all of the private information before Blanca came. Honorio tries to say NO, Blanca was super capable, she must have done it all. Gonzo takes both bits of information and says we will proceed with caution with the family only,

The family members are in Gonzo’s office when Daniel comes in to rejoin them but Gonzo tells him to keep doing what he was doing and they will take care of this. He leaves leaving the door ajar as he hesitates outside; Renata goes to the door and thanks him but closes the door. Adriana is there now and very surprised that Uncle Gonzo seems annoyed with Daniel. Why? She asks. He is the only one who could have known everything about the accounts and he might to still be in touch with Blanca. Adriana the sweet asks, but why would he do this? Matias says for money, he might have been offered a lot of money to help with this big of an embezzlement. They will keep him (alejado) at a distance, while they find the proof of what Blanca has stolen.

Roberta and Fina come in from the hospital and order up a glass of water for the pills form Eulalia. Fina begins to call Gonzo to tell him they have arrived home. Roberta carps that since Matias is her husband, he should have come to bring her home. The door rings and an annoyed Fina has to stand up and answer it. The three officers tell a scared-looking Fina they are looking for Roberta Monterubbio. She is momentarily relieved then they tell Robera a second time that this (orden de apresión) arrest warrant is brought because she is suspected of the murder of Rafael.

Ezekiel meets Augie at the airport telling Augie that there are a few bombs to report, then they all meet Jero and the officers who arrest Augie Doggie. I’m not sure why Jero was allowed to be there at the airport for the arrest, perhaps just for identification. Augie says but he committed suicide, I have nothing to do with this. They know he was at La Bonita at the time of the murder, he assures Augie that is it is proven he was involved in the murder of his brother he will see justice done. Or does he quietly say he will kill him. Couldn’t hear it completely and either scenario is likely.

Augie faces Jero in handcuffs and asks why would I do this? Jero posits that he wanted to buy Rafa’s land but Rafa wouldn’t sell it. Well this must have to do with Renata then. It has nothing to do with her, says Jero. Curiously, Arely is also there watches the whole transaction through the glass wall of the airport without moving more than her eyebrow.

Adri questions if Renata, now done with Jero, will want Matias back. Renata affirms that she will always be involved with Matias but only as a friend and brother. They giggle that Adriana wants to be involved with Matias. Adriana tells her of the waking in his arms on the couch at work. Renata says she is sure that the farce of a marriage between Matias and Roberta will not last long especially now.

Fina makes her hysterical call, Gonzo puts her on speaker she rants that Roberta has been arrested and taken to the police station (delegación).

Padre and Kari question the police about why Nesme was arrested. The officer explains that he is implicated in the murder of Rafael because he didn’t not perform or order an autopsy to determine cause of death. Augie comes in surrounded by many officers to be escorted down the hall. (This delegación is so familiar from so many telenovelas, they at least have given the office and the cells a fresh coat of paint.)

Jero tells Carlos if he had known about the murder in the first place he would have acted completely different. Sure sure… Carlos says maybe you wouldn’t have met Renata if you hadn’t suspected her in your brother’s death. No, I met her before. (remember the romantic tumble at he airport) before he even knew what had happened to Rafa. Carlos says your destinies are crossed how ever it happened.

Augie is brought into the cell across from Nesme. Augie accuses Nesme of his troubles. Nesme, barely more sober from sheer terror says but you made me forgo the autopsy. They both remember the conversation that Nesme feels bad they dispense with the autopsy but because Nesme was also so drunk. Nesme goes into melt down. As the scene closes we see reptilian eyes in Augie banging on his cell bars and fade to that reptilian sneer we see so often: Fina, serpentmom

Roberta promises her mother she is innocent, she never killed anyone. Fina gets to relive her real killing of Rafa again, and probably or let us hope not for the last time. We can’t think this is an accident she had the gun when she entered. She vows to clear her daughter. After all she does know better than anyone alive that Roberta is innocent.

Matias and Gonzo prepare to go to the police station to rescue Roberta, He suggests that Adriana and Honorio will continue with investigating the books, Gonzo asks Renata to call her husband to see why he has accused Roberta of Rafa.s death. Renata is going to stay to help but Hon says no we will keep working, you call your husband. Yeah call my husband, well, he still is my husband.

Ezek brings the lawyer to Augie’s cell who asks him if he is innocent. Between outbursts he says yes. Was he in the house when Rafa was supposedly shot? Yes but he only went to leave him a check as a deposit on the harvest he had bought from Rafael.

Back at the hacienda. Kari arrives wanting to know why Jero accused Nesme. He tells her he is only seeking justice. Nesme was drunk and so did not save Rafa or perform an autopsy to determine cause of death which could have uncovered the murder . So now he is implicated as an accomplice. He will have to pay for what he has done.

Renata finally calls Jero who tells her his brother’s exhumation and subsequent autopsy revealed that he was murdered not that he committed suicide. And that Augustin was at the house at the time he was dying. And Roberta wrote the rejection letter that was found after his death No one knew of the existence of this letter before. She thinks he must have received it before. Jero insists, no, someone brought it to him, there was no (sobre) envelope.

Roberta being asked to make statements by an officer, cries that she will not say anything else until her lawyer arrives but just that her only declaration is that she is innocent. Innocent, inocent of the crime I am accused of.

Licenciado comforts Fina who swears Roberta is innocent, he assures her he believes her daughter is innocent and he will do everything in his (en mis manos) power to get her daughter out of jail. He will go now to talk to the some public official. Gonzo appears just after while Fina wails about 100 times more that he has to get Roberta out of jail and prove her innocence.

Gustavo calls the Cantu to tell him that he is coming to MexDF and he will have all proof that is needed. (we assume about Fina/Pepa.)

The precious Andrecito gets sprung from the hospital to the cheers of his class, his parents kiss and Regina and Cata look on complimenting the wonderful marriage, and their relief. Que Barbaro, this is real love, says Cata with a meaningful glance toward Regina. Andrecito gets applause while repeating the family mantra, no one surrenders here.

Detective Cantu tells Antonio that Pepa is probably Fina, one of her daughters is not hers, and he will have the proof soon. Antonio is very bothered by this news. He is sure Gonzo is involved somehow and he’s always close to Regina.

Matias and Renata show up and Renata tells Mommie Dearest that Jero told her he accused Roberta because he found a letter from her breaking up with him.

Fina’s flashback shows her in almost sepia tones, telling Rafa that Roberta fortunately (recapacitada) reconsidered and doesn’t want him after all. She pulls the letter out of her hand bag and hands it to him. He rips the envelope open and reads it but he doesn’t believe it. You probably made her write it. Fina then recalls sitting with a pad of paper with Roberta’s handwriting, practicing her forgery. All Fina can do is collapse to change the subject. They finally agree that Renata can go help her sister, Matias follows.

Augie tells Ezek that he needs his help, he wants him to find the way to destroy Linares. Ezek, says pardon me but I can’t do that . Augie grabs him through the bars telling him he has paid him a lot of money and he will do what he wants or else. Ezek says no, things have changed after what happened between me and Alfonsina, my son is all I have and I don’t need more problems or shame. I would do almost anything for you but not that. Ezek gets away from the bars and leaves.

Roberta says snidely to Renata, you must be really happy with what your imbecile husband has done to me. Renata keeps to the subject, I can help you but I need to ask you questions and you need to answer (contundente) convincingly you must tell me the absolute truth. After a pause, Roberta decides Renata is her only chance to get out. I swear I didn’t kill Rafa . And do you swear that you had nothing to do with Rafa? She finally says since you are willing help me, I will tell you the truth. I was in a romantic relationship with Rafa. I am going to tell you the whole truth: I AM LA BONITA…

Well the arrests seem to be complete for the moment but the developments are coming fast and furiously as they set us up for how everyone will react to so many startling events tonight. My fingers are tired from typing this lightening fast capitulo and in half an hour my birthday begins. Willa and I are going very early for a hike with my friend and her friend Sierra an aptly named St. Bernard. sWe will hike up the northern side of the Sandia Mountain until we are starved, then we’ll descend to enjoy brunch at the Range in Bernalillo.

Thanks for the vocab, Cheryl. I'm hoping I won't need them! But always nice to know. Looking forward to your always wonderful recap.

Hey cool, an appetizer. Your post is up early Cheryl, CME doesn't even air here for another hour.

I am still in spell check and defrag mode but the earliest I can see CME here in Mountain time is 5PM. So it will take more time to finish, this was such a quick change of scenes all delivered in rapid sequence. My fingers hurt by the end of just an hour.HA!

No worries amiga, your masterpieces are always worth waiting for. (I almost said mini-masterpieces but by the time we're done they don't feel very mini, do they?)

Cheryl, your title and your vocabulary have me anxiously awaiting your recap.

Guau! Just watched the episode. Some interesting developments -- can't wait to see your take on it all.

Dear Cheryl: Can't wait to read your recap! Talk about fantastic developments tonight!!!

Super vocab!!

Susanita

Ha ha!! Doc Creepazoid was unshaven and drunk on the curb and then he got arrestado. How perfect is that? What a shame Kari missed the entertainment.

I know Chema creeps some of us out with his weird boy habits but he is a fantastic kisser. Go for it Chema!

I love the texting scenes because I. can. understand. everyone. perfectly.

I would hate to be Eulelia and working for that witch Fina. "Get a glass of water, unpack my daughter's clothes, and at the same time answer the door.

Good for Ezequiel. I loved watching him stand up to Augustin.

Whoa, I can't believe that Roberta admitted to Renata that she is La Bonita!

Thanks Cheryl. What an episode! I hope you had as much fun watching and recapping as we had watching and reading.

A verrrrrrrryyyyy Happy Birthday!! And what a lovely, fun way to spend it. Hope you had a wonderful hike.

Love how you started the recap - all about the crimes last night!

So where did Blanca stash the cash? She is so leaving Daniel out to dry - not that the lame-brain doesn't deserve it. Love when he tried to leave the door open and Nata got up and closed it. A typical TN eavesdropping moment turned to nought. Love this show!!!

So Roberta is innocent, but maybe the little princess will start her redemption with a little jail time. I don't see Fina's involvement yet coming out-- that would be way too soon. They really don't have a heck of a lot of evidence. But enjoying her panic.

I begged at my TV a little last night to have Dr. Demented go truly into permanent crazy mode and let's just lock him away. Heck - he's so far gone, maybe Augie will try to pin the murder on him.

Speaking of which, there's something very evil dictator about Augie when he's angry. (Yeah Zeke!!) And Nata really needs to put him in that zone of " I'm just not that into you". I agree Cheryl, I can't stand how he's always there and inviting himself along to things. Don't find that the least bit attractive - wishing Nata didn't either.

Maybe now that Nata's back in everyone's graces (well that she cares about), helps to save the company, she won't feel like she needs him around so much. I would guess he won't be around for her divorce proceedings - or will she "postpone" those becuase of all the events. Cool.

( And agree as well - need some lip-lock action with Chema, even if it is Coni. He's so good at it - nice to admire someone with such a good skill set. :) )

Can't wait for these episodes every day.

Great job Cheryl and hilarious as well. My favorite line came early:

"A bit more of the arrested development in our reforming underhero."

I'll say.

I keep waiting for the white-coated young men with nets to come for our galan.

"Ezek brings the lawyer to Augie’s cell who asks him if he is innocent."

And I believe that Augie called him "papá"... yikes! if daddy thinks that he might have done it...

Carlos

Quite an episode. I never expected Roberta to admit to being La Bonita so soon. I loved the giggly girlfriend scene between Renata & Adriana. Zeke, you are my new hero. The doctor lying in the gutter when he wass arrested was just too perfect. Will anybody believe his claim that it was Auggie who told him to avoid the autopsy?

And Cheryl, you were up to our expectations with your wit and completeness. I too loved your referring to Jero as our reforming underhero (even though I am a Jero fan.)

I also loved "sisterugly" , the description of Gonzo arriving wiath a sparkle in his eyes and a skip in his step -- and complimenting the secretary twice on her appearance. He is so cute when he's happy. Also your imagining Chema's mother twirling in her grave as he spread out her tablecloth & set red wine upon it before kissing Coni.

Loved how Renata turned into super-business-hero and discovered vital info "in a a D.F. minuto." I also liked the song they used for her theme here.

You are wonderful, Cheryl. Thanks.

Happy Birthday Cheryl!!!!

Gonzo and Nata were my favorites last night. I loved seeing him all happy and bouncy, and seeing her back in work mode and figuring stuff out. I laughed with Daniel tried to leave the door ajar and Nata got up, sent him on his way, and shut the door. I also really enjoyed her and Adri getting giggly about Adri going after Matias.

I sensed that Nata was not sad to see Augie go, as much as she appreciates his "kind" gestures. I'm glad she pointed out yet again that she is not his girlfriend. But she doesn't seem to get that Augie refuses to accept no for an answer.

Loved seeing him fume and fuss after getting arrested. I hope he stays in jail a few more episodes. :)

All three of the primetime tns were were great and intense last night. Jackpot!

Happy Birthday Cheryl! I hope you enjoy your hike and brunch; it sounds like a great way to start your birthday.

I loved the look on Fina's face when she realized her forged letter is what put Roberta in jail.

Happy Birthday Cheryl,

What a great morning you have planned. I checked the menu at the Range, I'll have the Shrimp Taco Margarita. Take it easy on Sierra, he's probably not quite as nimble as Willa.

Carlos

Thanks for the good wishes, I am sipping fresh coffee, scanning the blog and packng the day pack with water and dog treats for departure in a few minutes.

It is wonderful to see Fina finally scared instead of being so intimidating to everyone. They really showed how cold-blooded she was with poor Rafael. Sniff, I wish he could have lasted longer in the series. Talk about fine young galans.

I too am on the pro-Jero team but he does need some of the nonsense knocked out of him. I hope Renata doesn't fall back in his arms too soon but I really want her to get wise to Augie. I agree with the dictator image of him in the jail trying to throttle poor Ezekiel. Ezek did just the right response though, say no and walk away.

great recap, cheryl! and happy birthday!
one little thing. what Antonio said was not that Gonzo was involved directly but he just said that those news did not make him happy because they mean that Gonzo will always be a part of Regina's life (since he is the adoptive father of her daughter if all that is true) and will 'be around'.

Hey Carlos, I checked out the menu too! I am tending toward Biscuits and Gravy or Shrimp and Grits. Oh my but I'm hungry now.

Have a great time Cheryl. I'm sure you'll return to a flurry of comments.

Cheryl, ¡Feliz Cumpleaños! and thanks for a truly witty recap of a madcap episode.

"Serpentmom" indeed! Yes, Fina's worried about her precious daughter, but it still hasn't stopped her from risking her daughter's life (and fertility) for money, and now letting her take the rap for a murder she herself committed. I loved how Fina just asked outright for Gonzo to bribe (sobornar) someone to get Roberta out of jail.

Wow, it was strangely gratifying to see the normally cool Augie get flustered. Like all control freaks, he doesn't respond well when he's not running the show.

But I have to admit to being a little confused on the Mexican justice system. Do the police really start a murder investigation by having someone go around town, pointing at people and uttering, "J'accuse!" (or in this case "Te acuso")? Especially because the main accuser does not have a very good track record when it comes to, well, being right about anything.

So Roberta finally fesses up to being La Bonita. Even so, it should be easy enough for her to prove that she was nowhere near the hacienda on the night Rafa was murdered. OTOH, there is that forged letter...

Roberta and Matias have not consummated their marriage (unless you count the "pre-consummation" from that time before). Does that mean that the marriage is not valid and can be annulled, essentially invalidating the pre-nup as well? Just asking, because I really would like to see Matias and Adri hook up.

Juan Miguel

Feliz cumpleaños Cheryl!!!

Wonderful recapping!

Dr. NesmetheNasty is lying in the plaza taking drippy swigs from his bottomless flask .----- Love it, love it, love it. At first I thought he was laying in a gutter type thing, he should be UNDER the gutter.

(I think he could just as well been arrested by the fashion police for continuing to wear those 70’s leisure suits that he has in way too many colors.) ------ And the white shoes, QTF is THAT about?

…a scared-looking Fina they are looking for Roberta Monterubbio. She is momentarily relieved …..---- Mama MeanaFina didn’t see THAT coming-LOLOL

Curiously, Arely (or Sparely Girl) is also there watches the whole transaction through the glass wall of the airport without moving more than her eyebrow. ------Yes, she was sort of surprised but yet not, mildly amused.

Valeena

Happy birthday!!!

Great menu! I would probably go with the Baja fish wrap.
Have a great day Cheryl!

Happy Birthday Cheryl. Sounds like you have a great day planned. Enjoy!

I loved the way you sort of linked the Auggie sneer with Fina's serpentmom (great reference) sneer. Yes Auggie did indeed lose his cool in this episode.

I thought Arely had already left town. a day or so ago she told Lazaro that she had something to tell Auggie before she left him behind for good. Will she be back now that she's seen him hauled off to jail?

So many intriguing threads were left hanging in this episode. Looking forward to tonight.

Have a great day, birthday girl.

Great job with the recap, Cheryl, especially with a hike coming up (I came halfway down one of those trails in the Sandia mts. many years ago and suffered ferociously from vertigo). Hope you enjoy your birthday and your birthday brunch.

Not too many CME folks are having a good day, save Gonzo and Ines' family.

One thing that didn't hang right with me is why Fina would let Renata go visit Roberta after accusing her publicly of pushing her consentida down the stairs. Maybe she was just too rattled by how close the Rafa thing is getting to her immediate family, so I'll go along with it for now.

Then there is Roberta, who made the original accusation in a fit of rage, letting Renata near her and having a civil conversation, including admitting to having had a relationship with Rafa and being LaBonita. A bit too much to swallow, but I'm not going to argue. It needed to come out at some point. I hope Ren and Berta sit down and Berta tells her the whole story.

Renata needs to see the dictator side of Augie before saying how she wished Jero had been more like Augie to her.
NOK

Cheryl Happy Birthday and thank you for the great recap.

This show just keeps getting better and better and just so surprising with what is revealed so early in the novela. Most other novelas would have waited until Ultimas Semanas or Capitulos episodes to start revealing these big secrets but not this one.

Renata comes back to the company and discovers it has to be Danial who is leaking info to BSC Blanca.

Gonzo is skipping around happy as a lark since his hookup with Regina.

Antonio learns that Fina is probably Pepa and one of her daughters is Regina's lost stolen daughter.

Roberta admits finally she is La Bonita to Renata wanting her help to get out of jail.

Fina is in major panic mode as her precious daughter is arrested for Rafael's murder. She begs the lawyer flackey to help get Roberta out of jail.

Auggie goes ballistic as he is accused of Rafael's murder. He wants Ezeke to take care of Jerko.

Jerko admits he was mistaken about Renata and says she was innocent. Geez what took this idiot long enough to come to this conclusion.

I do wonder though if he knew that Rafael was murder he would have probably had Renata thrown in jail for that instead of marrying her.

Kari needs to get a grip and stop wasting her tears on Dr. Vodka after all he has done to her she should be saying good riddance.

R List: Regret
Or did you say that one Lila?
Anyway regret - such as flap-happy Inez if Blaancaa gets her husband's phone number. I was disgusted by her attitude of make love no matter who it hurts. She and Chema could play well together.

Roby, were Nata and Gina both wearing their R necklaces? I'm still guessing from yesterday's post.

Blu - Do I ever agree with you on Kari! After what he did to her, I thought she would be dancing a jig and breaking out the champagne. Forget the he's my husband still crap if that's where her sentiment is coming from. If anyone should be visiting the divorce lawyer NOW, it's her.

I'm sitting here at my desk at work eating a boring ham sandwich before my next conference call and made the mistake of checking out that menu Carlos shared. I am now thoroughly depressed and hating my sandwich. :(

Thanks for an awesome recap Cheryl.

Happy birthday! Mine was yesterday. Leos rule!!

Have a wonderful hike. Wish I could join you at the Range Cafe. I used to live in Bernalillo.

@Juan Miguel "But I have to admit to being a little confused on the Mexican justice system. Do the police really start a murder investigation by having someone go around town, pointing at people and uttering, "J'accuse!" (or in this case "Te acuso")? Especially because the main accuser does not have a very good track record when it comes to, well, being right about anything."

I've always heard that in Mexico you are guilty until proven innocent, which is the opposite of our judicial system. But I have a hard time believing that one can simply show up at the police station and accuse someone of a crime with no proof. My guess is that maybe this only happens in TN's to keep the storylines moving.

Happy Birthday Cheryl!

Happy Belated Birthday Dona Gringuita!!

Thanks for your great recap Cheryl. Enjoy your birthday!!

Feliz Compleanos!

When Karmageddon comes for Fina it will be spectacular. Imagine having the gall to watch your daughter being arrested for a crime she couldn't have committed because she was nowhere near the crime scene.

We still have a long way to go...

What Renata said was that she used to keep some of those numbers only on the binders which were locked up in a safe(?). And that it was before or after Blanca was around (since Renata was not there when Blanca was around, for the most part). And that means that someone very close to them was accessing them, and the only name she could come up with at the moment was Daniel. She did not directly accuse him of being the leak, but she said he was the only one she could think of...

Roberta wasn't anywhere near the crime scene, true, but it was because she was getting ready to elope, so she thought, with Rafa.

If I remember correctly, it was only Selene who was helping her, or at least comforting her when he didn't show up. She's going to have a tough time proving she WASN'T at the Hacienda, especially if Selene is still her anti-BFF.

(Of course in CSI's world, there would be no airline ticket in her name and it's too far to drive. That didn't stop Fina from doing it in in one evening round-trip. Maybe the policia will find a ticket issued in Fina's name.)

Of course, what I don't recall is what was Rafa doing at the Hacienda, an airplane trip away the same night. It's getting fuzzy, but I seem to recall he wanted to do the proposal correctly and ask Berta's parents for her hand. And, he missed his date with Nata.

Does anyone remember why she was so anxious to get away that night? I'll check the archives and get back with further information.
NOK

It runs on too long, but it starts with episode #4, if anyone wants to go back. I remember why it's all so fuzzy, I was watching LaPola every night when CME started.

Cheryl, your recap was most excellent. Hope you are having a wonderful birthday.

Happy Belated Birthday Dona Gringuita.

Loved Augie's look when they tossed him in the hoosegow.

Happy birthday, Cheryl. If you're like me, your birthday is the best day of the year.

Bonney: I seemed to have confused a lot of people, yesterday. My ques/comments about Nata and Gina were two separate things. Here’s what I meant (from yesterday’s comments):

“My comment about Nata is that she seems to be under someone's thumb (Fina), FINALLY, stands up for herself and then finds herself under someone else's thumb (Jero), etc. Now it's Auggie.

I was surprised that Gina started an affair with Gonzo considering that her husband cheated on her. But, I guess she did comment about that.”

Really liked last nights ep. Couldn’t wait to read the recap this morning to see what when on in the office after Nata discovered something in her D.F. minuto. I knew something big had happened.

Robey

Robey, your query about Gina and Nata, although unintentional, has prompted me to start making comparisons on mother and daughter. I'll bet we see more and more similarities as the plot develops.

Could it be that Nata has such a naturally free spirit, more so than any other character, that those jealous of that, or those who have a controling nature, are always trying to trap or break that spirit? She always fights against it, but it's a painful process. Fina has tried to both trap and break her spirit; Jero tried to break it; now Augie is trying to trap it. Just imagine how much more of a free spirited sprite Nata would have been had she been raised with a loving, non-judgmental mother like Gina, and an attentive father? I'm not knocking Gonzo, but he turns a blind eye to a lot of stuff.

Vivi, having raised a daughter, sometimes a daddy just gets tired of the whatever you care to call it. Gonzo's doing quite well in my book.

I have to pass on how good a smoocher Chema may be.

But the hospital stay took a toll on Roberta's looks, didn't it? Her roots were showing - badly.

Ezequiel would have been justified in grabbing Agustin's arm and cracking it between the cell bars. One can wish.

Disculpame, Cheryl. Thanks for the recap and Feliz-est of Cumpleanos!

LOL Mike! Nata would probably agree with you, as she adores him and can find no fault with him. I just wish he could have done more to protect her from the physical and mental abuse of Fina, in addition to being a doting dad.

Feliz cumpleaños, Cheryl! That hiking trip sounds wonderful.

Maybe I have a devious side but I loved seeing Berta and Augie behind bars. Even better, Fina squirming about the possibility that Berta could be convicted of the crime *she* committed.

Chema is such a cutie, isn't he? He is a genuinely sweet kid, which is why he doesn't creep me out. His kissing skills make for one heck of a scene. I still haven't forgotten that food flirtation scene from a few weeks ago. Yummy. :)

And Happy Belated Birthday, Dona Gringuita!

Amy

Hey, maybe Nata and Chema should hook up for a while! I wouldn't mind seeing him kiss on Nata...

I was also a bit taken aback by Regina's willingness to enter into an affair after having been the victim of the Pepa/Roberto affair but I felt that her experience at the hacienda and the devastation -- both physical and emotional all around made her aware of how fragile life can be and made her want to grab a bit of happiness while she could. Also, of course, Gonzo has told her that he is only staying with Fina because of her "brain tumor" and that he will be free to be with Regina when she (a) croaks or (b) gets a miracle cure.

I've already wished you a Happy Birthday on Facebook Cheryl, so I'll just torture myself imagining the fabulous brunch you're enjoying. Still.... I just made some fresh salsa so maybe I'll cook some eggs and pretend I'm having brunch also.

Clever title and loved your judicial vocabulary teaser. Good to know.

I like how people figure things out before the penultimate chapter. Renata has already fingered Daniel as Blanca's accomplice. And Roberta has admitted she's la Bonita. And what a treat to see Augie in jail even if it's only temporary.

Now, conundrum of the day. Kari's woebegone (and rather stoopid) face when confronting Jeronimo about accusing her husband. Has she already forgotten being bound and gagged and shoved under the bed!!!??? Good grief woman! Short term memory loss at such a young age is worrying.

Oh, and along with all your other witticisms, Cheryl, that people have mentioned "extortingass" is another gem for our beloved Blanca. Good one!

Oh..and belated birthday wishes to you Doña Gringuita...though as a Capricorn I have to take exception to your "Leos rule" statement. (well, it's known that Capricorns can be curmudgeons at times.)

Happy Birthday Cheryl!! Way cool of you to give us such a wonderful gift on your birthday.. Loving this TN. I'm curious to see why Roberta thinks Renata can help her.
Tasha

I wonder how far Roberta's confession will go. Will she admit to planning to elope with Rafa, or will she just say they had a fling?

And NOK, they may not find a ticket in Fina's name, but maybe Roberta will find a receipt for that cheap blouse Fina had to buy at the airport to get rid of her bloodstained clothes. Think Roberta, think!

I wonder what Roberta will think of her Mommie dearest when she realizes Fina murdered her man!

Juan Miguel

Doña Gringuita and JudyB. Surely it's Pisces that rules.:)

Sylvia: Very good idea you have about comparing Nata and Gina as we go along.

Robey

I'm guessing that Roberta is going to confess everything about her relationship with Rafa, including the pregnancy. I don't think that she'll admit to the abortion occurring before the wedding, however.

I'm going to cut Jerry a little slack about his latest accusations. He told the police his suspicions and I think that they are the ones who've over reacting.

I don't think that'll make any difference to Renata. She is not happy with him.

I trust that Lazaro is looking after Gitana.

Carlos

Juan Miguel, good call on the blouse! Roberta mocked mom the night she returned from her assassination assignation and she teased mom again in a subsequent episode. It's those little details that are the most dangerous.

Poor Gitana! If she is under Lazaro's care then I'm sure she's fine.

Gitana is another reason for Nata to go to wine country. She can't go too long without seeing her amiga, right? She at least has to go back to arrange transport for Gitana back to DF or something.

In La Fuerza del Destino, the hero talks to his beloved dog Pipo about his troubles the same way that Nata talks to Gitana.

And speaking of the fashion police (with Nesme's 70's leisure suit), an advantage to Renata getting back to work is she finally took those green tights (with shorts) off!

Happy Birthday, Cheryl! Mine was yesterday, the day of this exciting episode, so THANKS for your part in making the day a fun one.

Rosemary la Otra

Mmmmm... and wouldn't a birthday kiss from Chema just top off the day?

Rosemary la Otra

Rosemary, Happy Birthday!! You and Dona Gringuita are birthday buddies.

Vivi, the doggie's name is Pipo? That's a cute name, I love it.

Sylvia, you'll be hearing from nuestra amiga, Cindybin, I fear:

"ass ass ination ass ignation"

I owe you a beer.

Hah! Robey...you may be right that Pisces rules. My older sister (who always bossed me around) was a Pisces. And what did I do? but then went and married one to boot.

However our third child was a stormy Aries. I'm thinking "they rule" in a lot of cases.

Mike, I am sitting here roaring with laughter. I don't endorse censorship but for our favorite troll Miss Bin I might make an exception. A beer sure sounds good right about now. You're on amigo!

JudyB: I was married to an Aries who was a sweet as they come. Go figure. I know that if you look up any description of a Pisces, it has my name next to it. How close to the cusp is your child? Perhaps s/he's more Taurus (the bull) than Aries. :)

If we were to use a standard definition of each sign, we should be able to figure out what each of our CME characters are.

Robey

Dona Gringuita and Rosemary la Otra, we are all leo sisters. Troikas always win, ¿no?

I just posted several photos from the wonderful birthday hike. They are a bit dark from being made so small. I'll work on that. Still you all can see how beautiful it is here again. The fires have gone and some rain has come. The dogs were in fine fettle and we all five had such a great mornng before it got too hot. Brunch at the Range Cafe was huevos rancheros wiht home fries and blue corn tortillas and death by lemon cake to carry home.

Cheryl, the pictures are beautiful and the clouds are stunning. Were the two pictures featuring the clouds taking at different parts of the day? Just curious.

Willa looks even more beautiful than I remember. What a fun day for the dogs (and people).

Sylvia, Thanks for the appreciation of my photos and especially my baby Willa. Yes she continues to be stunning. You should have seen the fans she had in Oaxaca last winter. She was the only standard poodle in the city and people could not resist coming up to her. I discovered in this way that she is totally gentle and patient with children, even really small ones.

The pictures came out way dark but were taken in our two hour walk from 9 to 11 am, so close together, we were grateful for the partial cloud cover, it has been blistering hot here for several weeks. I need to render them very differently for small jpegs, the color in the large view is quite wonderful so the mackerel sky was there all morning with jet streams crossing the sky from southwest to northeast. I imagine coming from Phoenix or California because they were so high.

Cheryl, the pictures are gorgeous and your dogs are so cute! I bet Lupita thinks she is as big as Sierra, right? How did you get your "little Mexican refugee dog"?

Yes, we do have a sisterhood of Leo gals. Shall we all share some Traveling Pants?

Rosemary la Otra

Cheryl, the photos are great. I love to see dogs smiling - they must have enjoyed their treats. So glad the fires are gone and breathing is easier. Mike and I are so looking forward to our trip to NM in Oct.

Just a reminder tomorrow the soccer game is on and the schedule has been changed. For those on the east coast CME will be shown at 6:30pm followed by Teresa at 7:30pm then the soccer game. For those who lived in the Pacific and West Coast time zone check your local listings.

Thanks Blu, it's showing at 8:00 on the west coast. (So it says.)

Emilia, I am looking forward to meeting you and Mike. I am sure we can do some fun things while you are in NM.

Blusa, thanks for the forewarning on tomorrow night. I sure don't want to miss it, we are on such a fast train here.

Cheryl i love your dogs all of them are so beautiful and glad you had a nice time on your hike.

Only Willa is mine. Sierra and Lupita belong to my friend who is in the blue kerchief in the pictures. We often go on morning hikes in the mountains when the weather is cooler. We have been camping with dogs when she had two large dogs. That was hysterical. The dogs are so serious about their hikes, chasing strange animals (today it was little iguana like lizards) and treat breaks are intense as though that is their main reason for going.

Cheryl, I love your photos. How exciting and what gorgeous doggies. I hope that your birthday was everything you expected.

Carlos

Happy Birthday Cheryl! Glad the skies are fresh and blue again and you Willa, Siera and Lupita had a great day. Enjoyed everyone's comments which add to the enjoyment of the show and especially want to thank you Cheryl for this wonderful, detailed and fun cap delivered on your birthday no less! Thank you!

Lila

I must be gettng old, and losing my short term memory. Danielle has a white hat on OVER her blue kerchief and to think i am the only one that handled the photos.

now wouldn't it be a cool novela if Gitana was able to talk back to Nata? LOL now there would be a WTF moment...
