El Mundo de Telemundo, Week of August 22-26: Discuss Amongst Yourselves
Let’s start by importing the terrific comment Hombre made last night on last week’s page:
I couldn't post earlier, because I spent the day at a bluegrass festival (it was fantastic!). But I just wanted to put out my suspicion (which is even more likely after tonight's show) that Gonzalo a) is the older brother to Ismael and Ivan, b) killed Rosa, because he's protecting Ismael, and felt Ismael was jeopardizing things by using Rosa, who was making lots of mistakes with Carola and Hilda. We definitely saw Gonzalo go out for a breath of fresh air and stay out for hours. And tonight Hilda said she thought Rosa was dead BEFORE Adolfo showed up. We also saw Adolfo be upset with Rosa's death. So Gonzalo as the third brother is more and more likely. Of course the Condes think the third brother is Javier. Hah!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As of Friday:
Emilio survives the beating but has “cortical blindness” which may or may not be reversible. Everyone assumes Adolfo/Ismael is responsible but the viewer knows it was one of the guys Emilio welched on in a card game.
Renato slips into the hospital to see Emilio. Emilio senses his presence and tells the family about it but they all think he’s imagining things.
This week Yolanda, fearing that Nibaldo has another woman, follows him to Renato’s secret apartment. Now three people -- Rebeca, Nibaldo and Yolanda -- know that Renato is alive; and Emilio suspects that he is.
Igor Mora has become a kind of oracle in the Conde house. Everyone goes to him for answers and his monosyllables speak volumes. The Conde kids now know the real names of the twins, that Adolfo/Ismael is malo, that Ivan/Leonardo was killed, and that the third sib is a brother. Ismael is desperate to get his father Igor out of there, dead or alive.
Ismael orders Hilda to kill Igor. If she refuses, Emilio will die. Hilda poisons Igor’s soup as instructed but doesn’t have the heart to feed it to him.
Hilda then witnesses a confrontation between Eva and Igor’s wife, Mabel, and hears Mabel say that Eva once tried to kill her.
Using the names Igor, Ivan and Ismael Mora, blind Emilio talks Ignacia through an internet search that reveals a 1976 photo of the Mora family: Igor and Mabel, an unnamed young boy, and twin baby boys, Ivan and Ismael. Hilda sees Mabel in the photo and recognizes her as the woman she just saw with Eva. She spills what she heard. Could the young boy in the photo be Javier?
Eva admits to Ignacia that she did try to kill Mabel but denies knowing anything about Mabel’s family.
Gonzalo’s speculative maneuver pays off and Conde stock rises dramatically.
Javier launches a smear campaign against Gonzalo denouncing him in the legal community for his personal and professional failings; as a result, several clients leave the firm. Javier tries to recruit Matías and Rebeca to a new firm he is starting.
Javier has also hired a detective (recommended by Matías) to follow Pilar and Gonzalo. The goal is to get rid of Gonzalo definitively. Meanwhile, Matías tells Rebeca about the detective. The two will approach him and try to neutralize him.
In the middle of all this Sturm und Drang, Matías declares his love for Rebeca and proposes marriage.
Pilar catches Ignacia in the process of trashing her office and realizes she was the one who destroyed it before. She stands tough in the face of Ignacia’s usual nasty threats. Then she tells Gonzalo – and he’s none too happy at the steely note in her voice -- that he’d better control Ignacia. She visits Javier and tells him what Ignacia has done.
Javier nearly chokes Ignacia to death and warns her to keep away from Pilar.
Pilar sees a picture of Rosa, now known to be Ismael’s accomplice, and realizes this is her patient “Cecilia”, the same one who claimed to be in love with Gonzalo.
Carola and Ignacia speculate that Javier could be the third Mora brother. Matías and Gonzalo agree it’s possible. Pilar is incensed at the suggestion: she’s been married to Javier for more than 15 years and it’s inconceivable that he could have a secret identity, unknown to her. Gonzalo is unhappy at her reaction. Does she still harbor feelings for Javier?
Later, the creepy Rosa Munita Yen is found murdered. (It’s actually Hilda, on her way to a meeting with Ismael, who finds her.) We know Ismael isn’t the killer – he’s actually distraught over her death. The viewer suspects that Gonzalo – looking more and more like the third brother -- is responsible.
Diego has a nightmare that someone is hurting him – Gonzalo!
Hilda asks Nibaldo to take her to see Rebeca. No, she doesn’t want to talk about divorce. She’s in deep doo doo and she needs a lawyer.
On Friday, there are some interesting developments:
1. Despite Javier’s dirty tricks, Conde stock prices hold and Gonzalo goes
into executive mode.
2. On the threshold of the Conde house, Javier overhears Matías referring to his role as the late Renato’s informant. Both enter the unlocked front door and argue heatedly, Matías denying and Javier accusing.
3. Meanwhile, Ismael has also entered the Conde house and gone upstairs where helpless Igor and blind Emilio are alone. He brandishes a hunting knife he seems to have borrowed from Julián in Alguien te mira. Igor Mora’s screams alert Emilio. (How does he know Ismael is there?) Then Emilio also begins screaming for help and Matías runs upstairs, Javier at his heels. Matías momentarily disarms Ismael and shouts for Javier to call the police; Javier stands frozen and does nothing. Ismael manages to break free, stopping briefly to thank Javier. As Ismael runs from the house, he bumps into Yolanda, just back with the groceries, and then is nearly run over by Gonzalo. Matías again catches up with him, wrestles him to the ground and shouts to Yolanda to call the police. Javier stands back and watches. Gonzalo gets out of the car...
In the next scene, the police arrive and arrest Ismael. Everyone but Javier gathers round while Gonzalo explains what happened and thanks Matías and Yolanda. Emilio credits Igor Mora with saving his life by alerting him to the unseen danger.
3. Matías again asks Rebeca to marry him and she accepts.
4. The Conde women are in a truth-telling mood:
Carola admits to the family that she’s in love with Ismael. And she knows he had nothing to do with the attack on Emilio because Ismael/Adolfo said so. (Of course he also told her he was responsible for Renato’s death so the viewer knows that Ismael is a liar, even if, in this particular case, he’s telling the truth.)
Ignacia admits to Igor Mora that her time with Ismael/Adolfo was the happiest period in her life.
Eva is cornered by Carola and Ignacia and says she’ll tell them the truth about Mabel. (We’ll see.)
Hilda admits to Nibaldo and Yolanda that she’s been meeting Leonardo/Adolfo/Ismael and doing things for him... that he asked her to poison Igor but she couldn’t go through with it.
5. Pilar gives Gonzalo an ultimatum: the Conde family or her. Meanwhile Diego, feeling guilty about deserting his sister Andrea, packs up his stuff and returns to the Ruiz house. When Pilar realizes he is gone, she follows him home. Smirking Javier walks in to find his picturebook family intact. He escorts the tearful Pilar up to the bedroom. He knew she’d come back to him, to his arms, her family, safety. He loves her and will take care of her for the rest of her life. He moves close and touches her face...
Pilar and Javier are naked in bed. He’s awake. She is ... unconscious? asleep? (dead???).
Gonzalo bursts in looking for Javier and comes upon this tableau... “Gonzalo ... por Dios” smirks Javier.

Okay. Your turn. Flor Salvaje? Mi Corazon Insiste?
Labels: casa-lado, flor-salvaje, insiste, telemundo
If this show is true to its telenovela roots, Ismael won't be in jail very long. It's only innocent people who languish there for months, even years, on the flimsiest of evidence. Given the magnitude of his guilt, I'd predict Ismael's release -- or escape -- within 48 hours:) Will Javier be his lawyer?
As Hombre said -- to the viewer, Gonzalo looks more and more like the third Mora brother while to the Conde family, Javier looks guiltier and guiltier. Of course, Javier is guilty -- just not of being the third brother. (Or so I assume.)
I'm very anxious to know what really happened in the Ruiz bedroom last night. Just how stupid is Pilar?
Andrés is ok after the explosion but Rodrigo is in bad shape. He is taken to the hospital.
Ramon goes to Tiberio to complain about being booted out of the company by Débora. Tiberio has no sympathy.
Débora gets all gussied up and goes to meet Tiberio in a bar. Apparently, she is going to try and seduce him and turn him against Lola. Tiberio gets a call and has to leave though.
Danny goes off to rehab with words of encouragement from Andrés and Sofía.
Tiberio takes pleasure in showing Soledad the news coverage of the car bomb that injured Rodrigo. He finally gets tired of her crying and sends her away telling his henchmen to drug her so she won't bother him.
Bobby reports to Tiberio on the evacuation of the brothel and says that they lost one girl. Tiberio curses his inefficiency but Bobby assures him that she will be found. She needs her 'sweets' (dulces) and he knows all the dealers in town.
Adela is sleeping on the street. She needs a fix and apparently gets one in return for sex with a dealer.
Everybody congregates at the hospital. Tiberio sends Felix to finish Rodrigo off but he is scared off by the number of cops present.
Lola arrives and Andres tells her that Rodrigo probably won't make it. Lola tells him that she's not getting any psychic vibes like that and her psychic vibes are always accurate. She and Andres are comforting each other with an embrace when Débora arrives.
Finally, Adela flashes back to Soledad telling her to call Lola. She gets some coffee and donuts from an apparently kindly vendor who gives her change to use a payphone. She calls Lola and only manages to says that she has seen Lola's mother when Bobby cuts off the call. Felix was also listening to the call. Are all the pay phones in Miami bugged? Are there still pay phone in Miami? Was the whole place under Tiberio's control?
Now Tiberio knows that there is a connection between Lola and Adela. He decides to get rid of Adela.
Things look bad for Rodrigo who is hemhorrhaging internally but he has an operation and is pronounced out of danger. When he wakes up though, he is blind.
It's been a while, but way back when Tiberio first took an interest in Lola, he had Felix bug the home phone in the mansion, which is the number Adelita called. Apparently it's still there.
Great recap, Jean.
López appears to now strongly suspect that Correa is the rat, so maybe, just maybe, they'll be more careful about conversations in the cop shop.
It's SO frustrating. Lola is holding Andrés and comforting him just as a friend from childhood. We never get more than a few seconds of this before Débora always shows up and sours it.
I don't quite understand Débora's plan. She told her mother she was going to kill Lola. She then tries to seduce Tiberio. Does she think this will get him to kill Lola for her? I'm thinking she and Tiberio may well end up in the sack, but no way in hell is he going to harm Lola.
That was another great scene by Jencarlos encouraging his brother, convincing him once and for all that he had NOT killed Marcelo. He told him he'd stand by him in his recovery, but at the end, he said Daniel had to go there himself, without either Sofía or himself.
I was SO disappointed they caught Adelita. The writers could have gone another way and still managed to keep Soledad prisoner as a plot device. After all, the bordello was emptied out, and the cops don't know where everyone went.
Rafael can't figure out how Sacramento got as far as Brazil and Uruguay in so short a time with no money.
Pablo has been completely accepted by the other petroleros. His boss Evaristo is willing to let him go to help his friend. Another offers him his motorcycle to make the trip.
While they are working on an oil well, something goes wrong while Pablo is holding on. Rafael jumps in there and knows what to do, saving Pablo, but injuring his hand.
We see repeated scenes of the malaria ward, with patients under mosquito nets, including Sacto. The beleaguered doctor tells them they have no medicine. This must be the fine clinic the gringo Peter was bragging about to the reporter.
Susana is learning to read in the classroom. Ana is having hallucinations that Clara is following her. Flor had shown her the corpse as a cautionary tale.
Amanda convinces Olga to take her to Rafa's hacienda, swathed in Rocíos scarves. She wants to convince Catalina to say that she freed her, to take the heat off Sacto.
We see a fairly good side of Rafael. He's furious with Peter about their almost losing a worker. He's suspecting sloppy maintenance. Meanwhile Pablo is amazed to have been saved by Rafa. Evarista had told him that Rafa can be good to those who are loyal, even generous.
The photojournalist, Enrique Lozada, is painting Malicia and telling her that she's his muse. She's intrigued that he isn't going after her sexually.
Rafa is reading one of Enrique's articles about Nueva Esperanza in which it is stated that Catalina still owns the land the oil wells are on. He's not happy the reporter hasn't gone away yet.
There's a good scene between Flor and Cat. Flor has asked her to back up her story about who freed her. Cat asks her if she's been his woman. Flor replies: "Once". Cat: "Did he hurt you?" Flor replies that he was her first man, so she didn't know what to expect.
Is it possible Ana has been scared straight? She keeps seeing the ghost of Clara and is very frightened.
We see Mariano Guerrero announcing his candidacy for mayor of Nueva Esperanza, with his wife by his side.
Luisa tells Rafa that Cat just woke up and wants to see him. Cat tells him that, if he stops giving her pills, she'll tell the truth. It was a woman who freed her. At one point during their conversation, we get a big "Aha!!" moment. Cat tells Rafa how wise her father was to put it in his will that, if she died before Rafa, everything would go to the church. This explains his chaining her up instead of killing her. He leaves, telling her he's off to make love to his woman.
Piruetas has a thing for Malicia and isn't pleased when she tells him she's Enrique's model.
When Pablo arrives, he discovers that the money he sent already for medicines was used by Sacto for the pregnant woman. Pablo promises he'll send more money. Sacramento asks him to see Flor and tell her that he wants to marry her.
Rafa has arrived at Flor's casita. Seeing the postcards pasted up, he tries to tear them up, telling her she's his and only his. Flor says again that she's not a slave and, also, if he keeps this up, it will be over between them and she'll just be another one of the P's. She's pretty sure there will be lots of takers, and they won't give her a hard time about the postcards.
He backs off and asks her to dance for him.
The guys in the 4P bar are calling for Flor. Piruetas assures them she's on her way. When she gets there Piruetas tells her men have come from 4 hours distance to see her. Rafa tells the guys he's going to let them see her.
Pablo has ridden up on the motorcycle and is in the crowd in the 4P's. Flor does her sensual dance in that sparkly blue outfit. We see Rafa looking at her with lust. And we see Pablo absolutely thunderstruck at the sight of her. Uh oh.
Thanks, Jean and Novelera, for your summaries. It is sure hard watching Adelita's downward spiral; I thought she would catch a break and make it back to the Mansion Volcan, with its cheezy limp door wreaths. But no.
And apparently Deborah has forgotten Tiberio's warning the first time she tried to get him to harm Lola; he said "whatever bad happens to Lola...happens to you."

Fabulous summary of last week's events. The one thing I would like to add is that while Javier was frozen, Gonzalo was not. I guess he had to call the police to remain above suspiction. (Am I remebering correctly that he did call the police? In any case, he tried to help Matias) HOWEVER this was the first time Adolfo/Ismael and Gonzalo have come face to face. I felt that Adolfo gave Gonzalo a look that made me believe he knew him, or there was something between them. So now it's down to Javier and Gonzalo as the prime suspects. Javier is too obvious, so it must be Gonzalo.
I think the actor who is playing Igor Mora is doing a great job --given that he can't speak. I feel really sorry for him....
I was surprised by Rebecca's reaction to Matias's proposal. Why was she literally speechless, and why didn't she just accept the first time? Is she worried that her past relationship with Javier is going to come out?
Great summary and comments. One addition is that Adolfo cut Matias's arm with the knife. Matias kept up the chase, though. I think his bravery was one factor which tipped the scales in Rebeca's mind toward saying yes.
I learned a new word, the word for discredit, "desprestigiar", which is like taking away someone's prestige. This is what Javier was doing to Gonzalo.
I think Pilar just gave in to Javier's "charms", and did actually sleep with him. I'm not sure about this. But she is weak, both Andrea and Diego were in this house, and she is so unsure of Gonzalo, that she basically gave up (at least temporarily).
BTW, I'm fairly certain it was Yolanda who called the police on Adolfo, not Gonzalo. He pretty much just stood around.
I agree, Adolfo borrowed Julian's knife from Alguien.
Also, I think at the end of the episode, Ignacia found out the name of the third brother, and it sounded like Iñaki. They all start with I, just like Igor.
Okay, now we have blind people on BOTH the shows I watch, La Casa and Mi Corazon. And at least once a day, on each show, we have the hero comforting a woman, and the rival happens to show up at just that moment.
Another word they used for Adelita's drug habit was "chocolate", which I think means heroin.
Debora doesn't know how Tiberio is connected to Lola, so I think she DOES figure that, despite what he said, if she seduces him, he will okay a hit on Lola.
I wonder if the actor playing Daniel has some other pending acting jobs, since first he was in Holland, and now he has to go to a rehab clinic, so we won't see him for a while again.
I loved when Rebeca said to Ramon, "I don't know WHY I married you. It's certainly not for your size or physical attractiveness, and I'm realizing more and more, it's DEFINITELY not for your brain!" (Ramon had asked whether they she tell Debora that Rodrigo was in the hospital, and Rebeca said of course, we have to tell Debora everything.
I can't wait for the day when that rat Correa gets caught.
I just realized that Blogger ate my last attempt to comment (first time in a while), so let's try again --
NJ Sue, Thanks! I was also struck by the ferocious look exchanged between Gonzalo and Adolfo. A warning, perhaps?
And I'm glad you mentioned Rebeca's reaction to Matias's proposal. Maybe, as Hombre suggests, Matías's bravery tipped the balance for her. Sea lo que sea, it was fun seeing her being so ... well .... so girly, so verklempt:)
Hombre, thanks for adding the detail about the third brother's name. It sounded like "Iñaki" to me too.
You're probably right about Pilar. Sigh.
Hombre, it's Vicki who told Ramón she can't remember why she married him. Frankly, I was with Ramón; keep your mouth shut about what happened to Rodrigo. This way, Lola and Andrés could have had more time together. Once Débora arrives, it's always all about her and how she hates it when Lola's around. She expressed no concern about Rodrigo whatsoever. There's a colloquial expression describing her feelings about Rodrigo: She wouldn't urinate on him if he was on fire. Except you don't really hear urinate, rather another word.
Hombre, I think that actress who portrays "Vicky" did play a character named Rebecca on another show...I have seen her on at least two other novelas and besides being a gifted actress, her enunciation is very clear, which is always a plus.
J in Oregon
Yes, I meant Vicki. And yes, the actress played "Rebeca" on El Fantasma de Elena. Whoops! Good point, Novelera, that maybe telling Debora is not really such a good idea.
What interesting point of views from all especially recappers.
I agree with the person who said the recapture of Adela could have happened a different way, but now I wonder if she indeed will not experience a happy ending.
I also wonder how long Tiberio will go along with Debora's plans of seduction, he claims hes not stupid so I guess he will enjoy himself first and then take care of Debora. I wonder though if somehow Debora does come out on top (that' not a pun).
novelera, very nice recap. I was out of town for a few days but I just caught Fridays episode.
Yeah, with Pablo arriving just in time to see Flor entering the stage, things are gonna get a little crazy. He's been a super good friend to Sacto, I've got a feeling that's about to be tested.
Free at last! Adelita has been found by Bobby the pimp. He knows she can't do without her fix. But she flashes to Lola, gets courage, and knees Bobby. She runs off, later calls Lola on a pay phone, and Lola and Pepe go to find her. And they do! Lola helps a very weak, spent Adelita to her feet, and maybe to rebuilding her life.
Camilo's finally succeeding with Sofia, too! Sofia realizes she's been suppressing her womanly side, and donning a scanty, clingy blue dress, she and Camilo enjoy their personal happiness.
Ramon whines to Debora, you kicked me out of the company, and Tiberio treats me like dirt, do I deserve this? Debora quiets him down with a check. So Vicki whines, what about me? Debora asks if she just wants a check, too.
Daniel is whining about his drug treatment center. He meets another patient, whom I think was his drug dealer. The other guy is doing well in his recovery, and asks Danny if he wants to play basketball. But Danny is too messed up to see any possibility of happiness at this point.
Rodrigo isn't too happy, either, not dealing too well with his blindness. Andres gives him lots of support and kind words (such as needing his help to continue to search for Soledad), and maybe Rodrigo is responding a little. Speaking of Soledad, they've now drugged her. Maybe she'll be an addict like Adelita.
And speaking of drugging, I think Correa injected Rodrigo with something. At least he was going to. I looked away for a second, and the other cops were nearby, so I'm not sure. That bad Correa!
If Gonzalo is the third brother, he's doing a great job of acting as if he's not. But something really suspicious happened. Javier visited Adolfo in jail. Adolfo said get me out of here. A day later, Adolfo was released. He thanked Javier, who said, "but I didn't do it!" Who did. Adolfo clams up at this point, which makes me think it was Gonzalo. Gonzalo acts all outraged at Javier, blaming him for getting Adolfo out. BTW, Javier DOES achieve the other thing Adolfo wanted, getting a court order to have Igor Mora removed from the Conde mansion ASAP (Adolfo didn't like his loose lips).
Ignacia tells her therapist, "I'm in love with my own executioner!" (verdugo). The therapist doesn't think this is too healthy. If Ignacia is conflicted now, being in love with Adolfo, a murderer, just wait til she finds out (if it's true), that the wonderful man she's married (Gonzalo) is ALSO out to destroy her and her family! (maybe)
Eva finally tells the backstory about Mabel to Ignacia and Carola. Years ago, when they thought Igor Mora had embezzled the money, Eva got so mad at what she thought Mabel had done to her husband's empire, that she SHOT Mabel in the shoulder. Mabel spent several weeks in the hospital. Mabel never mentioned her children.
Speaking of Mabel, when Ignacia confronts her, I think she say has had no contact with them for years, living outside the US. Also, she said Ivan/Leonardo was terrible, somehow ruining her life (but I didn't quite understand this part).
Pilar regrets that she actually did sleep with Javier, leaves him again, goes back to Gonzalo, but she's too late! Now he doesn't love her, and tells her it's over! Although this sort of makes sense in telenovela land, I think it's just one more piece of Gonzalo's devious plan to destroy. Or is it?
Happy times for Matias and Rebeca. Although Javier threatens Matias with a gun (and Pilar hears about this later), Rebeca and Matias make love, it's great, and they're getting married cuanto antes. Yippee!
Great job, Hombre.
Yes Gonzalo put on a big show of indignation at Adolfo's release but like you, I'm almost certain he's the one pulling all the strings.
The writers left lots of breadcrumbs leading the viewer to suspect that Eva is now a threat to Rebeca. Remember Mabel's remark to the effect of "If they only knew what that woman is capable of..." And then there was her social face at Matías's announcement of his engagement ("Me alegro") and her breaking down in tears as soon as he's out the door.
Although Gonzalo's refusal to be drawn into the neurotic Javier-Pilar tango is understandable on its own terms, like you, I suspect it's part of the plot to get even. After all, Pilar is Javier's prize possession, his very own Stepford Wife. Gonzalo has reprogrammed the robot and she seems ready to walk away from her repulsive daughter and husband even if it means leaving "Dieguito" behind.
By the way, I understood Mabel to say she rejected Ivan/Leonardo because he was defective. Apparently Mabel is just as monstrous -- if not more so -- than Eva. We have two warring Gorgons!
I do hope someone protects Igor. Right now he's one of the few characters I'm rooting for. Well, yeah, I'd like Rebeca and Matías to get out of this alive too.
Hombre: You must have been watching with rose-colored glasses. Yes, Adelita escapes from Bobby and Lola finds her but we ended with her in the sights of a sniper rifle wielded by Felix, saying that he is going to be rid of her once and for all.
Yes, Sofía came over to Camilo's and said that she wants to try and make it work with him when out of the bedroom comes the bimbo he called when he was drunk. Is Sofía going to be understanding? I doubt it.
I didn't like the way Rodrigo's eyes rolled around madly. I don't think Correa injected him.
I think Tiberio told Felix to take Soledad to Mexico or something. He responded to Felix concerns about getting her over the border by saying that she will be dead. Since they have a coffin, I imagine they have given Soledad something that makes her appear to be dead so they can cross the border.
Thank you for your recaps. I missed out on a lot - on Corazon I too looked away and thought our brave cop had been drugged, but I guess not. I was afraid that Andres was going to get stuck with the needle by Correa when he chased after him. Thank you for clearing up about Daniel's roommate, for a minute there I thought he was one of the guys who helped Andres when he lost his memory.
and finally it was a change Lola did not go charging in but called the cops!!! A sign of maturity now that she's a mom?
Casa:
I can't stop comparing Javier to Rodrigo; Gonzalo to Julian in Alguien te Mira. It just convinces me more and more that Gonzalo is the otherbrother.
Boy, lots keeps happening on this one. Hard to synthesize.
It seems Flor has spotted Pablo in the audience. Rocío asks if she doesn't mind men stripping her with their eyes. She says she only danced for one whose eyes told her he could see her heart. CC is disgusted with Flor because Sacramento loves her and she's interested in some stranger. CC also doesn't think Sacto sent the postcards and has a sixth sense he's in danger.
Then Rafa invites Pablo to join him at his table. Pablo thanks him again for saving his life. Rafael tells Pablo that Flor is only his and anyone thinking otherwise would pay with his life.
Pablo is there looking for Amanda and doesn't really know that Flor and Amanda are the same person. She gets close to Pablo and looks interested, but Rafa bellows for her to come over.
Olga continues to be Zahra's conscience, saying that she thought Rafael would be over Flor once he'd "had" her, but he's more obsessed than ever.
Pablo comes to Zahra's house looking for Amanda and hears Flor called by that name. She is playing with her sisters, no makeup and a simple dress. When it comes time to deliver Sacto's message, Pablo lies. He tells her the message was that Sacto is doing well. He doesn't mention the marriage part. Ana also likes Pablo. It appears she wants every man who is interested in Flor.
Sacto is told by the doctor that he can't leave because a mosquito could bite him and pass on the malaria. He leaves anyway, staggering down the road.
We discover from a phone conversation with his mother that Enrique is rich. His mother doesn't like him doing that low-class reporter job when he doesn't have to work at all. In the next scene the jealous Piruetas tells Malicia that Enrique has no money. Later she impulsively uncovers her portrait and discovers it's cubist and looks like a Picasso blue period. She's furious.
Cat approaches Rafael with a pillow. Come on, she could hardly suffocate a strong, healthy man! He accuses her of being jealous of Flor, and tells her he only let her out of the calabozo because Flor asked him to.
Flor has taken Pablo to her casita to show him the postcards. Zahra reminds her of what would happen if Rafa knew another man had been in her casita. Before Zahra arrived, Flor told Pablo that she became the woman of Rafael because it was the only way to save her sisters. She also tells him she doesn't love Sacto. That she can't love any man. Pablo tells her no one has the right to judge her. Pablo tells Flor he'll teach her to read and write and writes her name in lipstick on the mirror.
We get a lot of scenes of what they call La Orillada a festival whose name comes from una orilla or riverbank. Apparently the town tolerates the 4P's disporting themselves in and out of the water, with lots of food and drink once a year. Pablo and Flor start to dance salsa. Rafael arrives, and CC hastens to replace Flor as Pablo's dance partner.
Rafa doesn't miss a chance to allude to Zahra about their past relationship and how his new one is the same or maybe better. I'd like to brain him when he does this.
Rocío shows up to meet Enrique and tells him she wants him to print an article that will finish the mayoral candidacy of Mariano Guerrero.
Pablo gets disgusted watching Rafa nuzzle Flor and leaves the party. While Rafa goes to see why La Mina and Zahra are quarreling, Flor chases after Pablo. She writes her name in the sand with a stick showing how quickly she learned watching him write in lipstick. They kiss.
Jean, thanks for clearing up my mistakes. I was trying to multitask, and missed several key things. I'll try to pay more attention tonight :)
Ahhh...Thank you Jean, I didn't notice the coffins and couldn't figure out why they were drugging Solita directly into her vein or artery or whatever. NOW I get the whole coffin thing---they are going to disguise her as a corpse and take her to Mexico. Luckily we have the comic relief of the ex-ladies man Camilo striking out again and again with Sofia...can't wait to see how he gets out of the awkward social moment of having a floozy in his bedroom...

Well it's looing more like Gonzalo is the third brother and the mastermind behind the plot. The only thing that makes me think it could be someone else (But who?) is that the person who got Adolfo out is very important and can get to the right people. I don't think that describes Gonzalo --but since we know nothing about him, it very well could be. At this point, I am thinking that he
did seduce Pilar to get even with Javier --but he got caught in his own "trampa" and fell in love with her. He did seem very broken up about her and was actually crying over her.
About Eva -- I felt that she was sincere in wishing Matias and Rebeca happiness, although she obviously was sad at this development. She told Yolanda had much she missed Renato and felt she couldn't go on without him. Why would she do that if it were not true? I get the feeling she is dangerous when her family is threatened, but in general not. It will be interesting to see....
I will really be upset if Matias is killed. In the avnces, it looked like it was not Adolfo or Javier who grabbed him. Poor Rebeca.
Great post, NJ Sue. Here's my take on the events of the evening:
Love makes smart women do foolish things – or – Rebeca’s really bad decisions.
She lets yet another person in on Renato’s secret: she takes Matías to his house to hide out from Javier until the wedding.
She allows Eva to persuade her to plan her wedding in the Conde house. What better way to put her and Matías in harm’s way? And indeed, after lying low for two weeks, Matías emerges for his nuptials and immediately has a gun held to his head. It looks like he’s being abducted and he may get to meet the mysterious third brother very soon.
She asks Ignacia to paint Matías picture. She wants to give it to him as a surprise gift. When Eva sees the completed portrait, it is one more stake in her murderous heart.
She believes Carola’s claim that Pilar is the only one who can help Emilio and gives Pilar’s new office address to her. And once you let one Conde in, well, there goes the neighborhood.
Javier bulldozes over Ignacia’s and Carola’s objections and the pathetic pleas of Igor himself (“Malo....malo”) and removes the old man from the Conde house. Igor ends up in a dingy, abandoned space at the untender mercy of Ismael.
Javier proposes a legal strategy to Eva to challenge Renato’s will leaving everything to Gonzalo.
Pilar and Gonzalo seem to be mooning over each other but so far manage stay apart. But Pilar is also feeling the pull of her horrible family. She drives to the kids’ school and watches Javier picking up Andrea and Diego.
Blindness seems to have enhanced Emilio’s schmuckiness. Poor Hilda. As rejected as she is feeling, if Rosa were still alive, she’d probably be able to recruit her to burn down the Conde house during the wedding ceremony. But all Hilda has is Stand By Your Man Yolanda and she tells her to get upstairs and cheer up her husband.
Ismael once again ambushes Ignacia in her bedroom where she has gone to get ready for the wedding.
Carola Conde walks into a bar ...
Great comments, NJ Sue and NovelaMaven. I agree that Gonzalo may have to ruin Pilar and Javier's marriage as part of "the plan", but now fell into his own trampa.
As for who held the gun to Matias's head, it can only be Adolfo, Javier or Gonzalo (unless there's someone new). I'm guessing Gonzalo.
How poignant to see Matias drop that little red box with the rings Renato gave him.
Javier's strategy to break the will by bringing up the agreement where Gonzalo would lose the stock shares if he left Ignacia doesn't make sense to me. Once Renato dies, that agreement wouldn't matter, it would matter what was in his will (of course Renato's not dead, but that's another consideration).
What WAS up with Carola and that mystery guy in the bar?
Tonight should be good.
Both Adelita and Daniel are trying to recover from their addictions. It's supposed to be easier with Adelita, because, according to Sofia, she wasn't addicted that long (it didn't seem too long for Daniel to me). So she's struggling in her hospital bed. And she does tell Lola that Soledad is alive, was in that whorehouse.
Daniel is not doing too well in his treatment center, having broken some glass, and thinking of committing suicide. Where's the staff?
Debora let Tiberio kiss her, but doesn't seem to be getting anywhere with him. He wants to be the boss, and doesn't like her challenging him. Debora told her parents to leave the house, she'd pay for their trip. Why not? They're up for a free trip.
The actress who plays Sofia is so tall they have to put her in flats when she's with Camilo. Of course she won't let him explain about the bimbo.
I almost thought Debora was going to snatch the baby (whom she thinks is very beautiful, almost perfect, like a porcelain doll), but so far she didn't.
I'm glad the cops are finally going to set up a sting to try and trap Correa.
Yep, Amanda/Flor and Pablo seem to have fallen into lust/love at first sight.
There's a word I had heard before, but this time I wrote it down: paludismo = malaria.
La Mina, probably under the influence of alcohol, starts announcing to all and sundry that Zahra is still in love with Rafael. Zahra decides to demonstrate she's a free woman by stripping and jumping in the river. The guys start to swarm in after her, but Rafa fires his pistol and tells them it's OK to look but not to touch.
Cat pretends an upsurge of religious feeling, and Rafa lets her go to church, where she meets Raimundo. She's obsessed with getting Sacto to help her, and wants Raimundo to find him. By TN plot convenience, Raimundo overheard one of the petroleros say that Sacto is in the clinic near death. I'm not liking Cat's insistence on Sacto helping her. I believe she knows Rafa has threatened his life, but this cuts no ice with her.
The Nueva Esperanza doctor is a complete villain. When Pablo tries to get some malaria medicine, the guy tells him it's expensive. And much cheaper to give them a nice, modest burial.
Rocío (La Trepadora) tells Enrique, the reporter, the story of Clara and Mariano and also that she knows well what a rat he is because he's her brother. She asks him not to print the sister part, because he might kill her.
Zahra is splashing around in the water and looking gorgeous. Later, at Zahra's house, some men try to get in. Susana asks what they want and, nasty as usual Ana, says they're looking for Amanda.
Rafa is ready for a romp with Flor, but she feels faint and nauseous. I'm thinking pregnancy or malaria. But no. She's made this up to go look for Pablo. Veeery risky move. Rafa then puts a move on Zahra, telling her that, like everything else in Nueva Esperanza, she belongs to him. She gives him a severe bite when he tries to kiss her. She tells him she went in the river to show that she's still a woman, but a woman who's made a decision not to be with men, especially him.
Susana has twigged that the women on the Calle de Consuelo are prostitutes. Ana adds that that includes her sister. And the reason Amanda is doing it is because Rafael Urrieta is loaded. Aren't there some crocodiles in this river that would enjoy an Ana lunch?
Pablo goes to Sacto's bedside and lies to him. He says he couldn't find anyone named Amanda in Nueva Esperanza.
The P's do a very cute cowgirl dance, with Amanda the lead dancer. Zahra comments that she's changed, that being in love even makes dancing different.
Zahra tells Amanda that she has to accompany the other P's to the doctor to get their "credentials". I assume this is a VD checkup.
Raimundo brings Sacto to his house. Catalina has talked Brigida into letting Sacto recover in their house.
That story about Mariano made it in print at warp speed. The headline is something about "Jefe Civil fue amante de prosituta suicida. Rocío smiles with pleasure. Later Lourdes, his wife, looking sour, puts the newspaper on his desk. Mariano is impactado.
Enrique is asking Piruetas if there's another P that would model for him. Piruetas suggests La Mina.
It turns out the rotten doc charges an arm and a leg for these credentials, not to mention sexually abusing them as a side benefit. La Mina says he hurt her last time. When the guy appears ready to rape Flor, she pours alcohol all over his office. Malicia comes in and throws a match on this. The P's run out, as does the rotten doctor (too bad), but Flor is paralyzed, remembering her mother burning up and doesn't get out with the others. The building is soon an inferno.
OK, if I were writing this novela, she'd be saved but have her face scarred. Rafael would turn away in horror, but Pablo or Sacramento would love her anyway. Wedding. FIN. Doubt this will happen.
I am totally fed up with Débora crying about not being able to be a mother. She might have been ok if she'd been content to miscarry in the equipment room. But no. She had to come up with the evil plan to fall down the stairs. She did it to herself.
I'm SO glad Adela is going to be all right. She's got detox ahead of her, but I'm pretty sure this time she'll be a different person. I'd like to see her with Fulgencio López (who by the way reminds me of Andy Garcia when he was younger), rather than Daniel.
And the scenes with Lola and Andrés and Chabelita are very charming. He teased her he didn't want to change diapers, and then said, of course, he was prepared to do that. His burping technique leaves a lot to be desired, though.
Great comments, all.
I could NOT believe Rebeca consented to have her wedding at the House of Horrors, which is conveniently next door to the guy who pulled a gun on him two weeks ago.
I loved it when Karen told Andrea she was wasting her time trying on different outfits for the wedding because Emilio is blind!
Emilio needs a swift kick in the hindquarters. I think Hilda should go back to Zacatecas, but I don't think it will happen.
MI CORAZON - Fortunately, Tiberio calls off the hit on Adela when he finds out she is with Lola. Adela goes to the hospital and eventually tells Lola that her mother is alive.
Andres tells Correa to stay away from Rodrigo.
As I predicted, Sofia is disgusted with herself for seeking Camilo out when he was with another woman. More trouble before these two find paradise.
Debora tells Andres that if he doesn't start paying more attention to her, she will take a lover.
Debora finds Chabelita unattended and tells the baby that she never should have been born. She is the source of all Debora's problems. I liked the camera work where you got a Chabelita-eye-view of Debora.
Rodrigo acts like an idiot by trying to got the john on his own and falling down.
Danny contemplates suicide.
I think Debora is only sorry that she can't bear children because she can't use them to manipulate Andres. She has no independant desire to be a mother.
Debora makes a play for Tiberio and he responds. He wants to go to her bed because he likes danger. Debora sends her parents off to Vegas and takes Tiberio upstairs. Andres comes in the house.
That was about it.
I agree with you, Novelera, that Catalina is bad news. Her fixation on Sacto is weird. Assuming he recovers from the malaria, how can be possibly help her? If Rafael doesn't believe Flor that it was she who released Catalina, he will still be looking for Sacto. In fact, Flor never could have lifted the box of Alirio remains and wouldn't have known anything about it so Sacto must have been there. So it doesn't make sense to bring a helpless Sacto to Raimundo's place in Nuevo Esperanza with nosy Brigida there.
I am so relieved that Adelita is out of danger...for now. Do you think she will end up in the same rehab place as Daniel?
J in Oregon
Wow!! Even though we knew Inaki was going to be Gonzalo, it certainly was a dramatic moment. And I think although we're a small group of commenters, we certainly have been right on target about most things --as we got the whole story from Gonzalo tonight we could see how right we were about most things.
I am going to throw something out that is probanbly ridiculous and far-fetched. But I would not be completely surprised if somehow Renato Conde is involved: his giving Gonzalo the money/shares to stay married to Ignacia, his making him his heir, and could he be the very high up person who was able to get Adolfo/Ismael out of prison???
By the way, the acting of both Ismael and Gonzalo/Inaki was terrific. They both very believably unhinged. I also thought that Gonzalo got angry when Matias brought up Pilar. I think she's the fly in his ointment.
Does anyone know when this is over? It seems like it must be coming to the end now.
I'm betting that Matias doesn't get killed. So far only minor characters have, and I think he and Rebeca have to have a happy ending.
NJSue - Wow is right!
Will Matias be saved? Did not expect the big reveal like that. Amazing capitulo.
NJSue - with all that's going on - wife shooting etc I've come to the conclusion that one of the brothers could be Ismael's son? I think it's the twins because Igor Mora calls his son evil. But since Ismael gave the power to Gonzalo, am not too sure about that.
Wow is right, NJ Sue and Nellie!
"I'm betting that Matias doesn't get killed. So far only minor characters have, and I think he and Rebeca have to have a happy ending."
I'm hoping that Matías gets out of this alive but I'm afraid he won't. He seems to be this show's "Eva". Remember how we all hoped that strong, smart policewoman Eva would be the one to escape from crazy Julián? Just as she was the first victim we really cared about, I think Matías will fill that role here. Also, Matías is the vehicle for Adolpho and Gonzalo to reveal much (not all) of their plot. Once Matías is out and talking, the show is over.
So Matías has to be silenced. Most likely he'll be killed and someone else (Javier? Eva?) will go to jail for the crime while Gonzalo is free to mingle with his victims.
-----------
They've brought back the Ricardo Merino theme leading us to suspect that Pilar isn't completely innocent, or at least there are still secrets to be discovered about her past.
-----------------
It's especially disturbing that Adolfo thinks Igor is just as guilty as Mabel for the life he and his brothers led. He blames his father for being falsely accused? For having a disabling stroke while in prison? Yikes.
And how chilling to hear Adolfo and Gonzalo talk about how they had to get rid of Ivan/Leonardo -- he never bought into the vengeance plot, he grew fond of the Conde family, and was on the verge of telling them the truth!
And absolutely everything about Gonzalo is false -- even the judge that married him and Ignacia was just an actor. So Ignacia continues to be married to Adolfo/Ismael.
I was surprised to learn that the brothers had killed Ignacia's abductor. I really thought that was Javier's doing.
Nellie, what did you mean when you wrote:
"I've come to the conclusion that one of the brothers could be Ismael's son?"
Sorry I meant to say that either the twins or Gonzalo could be a child of Renato Conde not Ismael. Sorry about that.
Nellie,
Ahhh. Renato the father of one of the "Acosta" boys. Interesting idea. That could explain why Eva and Mabel seem to hate each other so much. We know that all of these people, including Renato, have more secrets waiting to be revealed. And it goes along with NJ Sue's suspicion that somehow Renato and Gonzalo are in cahoots.
Personally, I'd like to think that Renato isn't in on the Acosta boys' murderous schemes. But I believe that some of his own scheming is going to come to light.
Great comments, everyone! I think it's very unlikely Matias will survive, because he knows too much. This show is far from over. They haven't announced final weeks, and those usually last at least 5 weeks, if not 7. The only way Matias can survive is if he agrees to work with Ismael and Inaki. He knows something they don't (that Renato is alive), and maybe he could convince them to let him live and secretly help them. But I don't think this'll happen, and I think he's a goner.
As for the theory that Renato is actually working with Gonzalo, cool! But who's he getting revenge on, Javier? I'm not sure how that would play out.
Yes, maybe Renato is the father of one or more of the boys. Or maybe EVA is the mother, and had an affair with Igor Mora, and that's why Mabel left the boys, they weren't hers! I know, not likely.
The one problem with this whole show is the fact that just about everyone's "bad". Could the ending not be a happy one, but be something like Hamlet? (everyone dead except the servants). I don't know if they'd do that in a novela.
Adelita is getter better (Lopez is helping), Daniel's still having trouble.
Andres is going to Panama with Camilo, to find Soledad. I don't know how he'll find her there, since Lola didn't, but we'll see. He wonders why Debora mentioned "Panama" in asking where he was going. Earlier, after Debora had sex with Tiberio, Debora has to convince Andres not to take a shower, since Tiberio was in the bedroom. She actually achieves this, although Andres thinks she's crazier than ever.
As expected, Ramon loses all the money Debora gave him and Vicky in Las Vegas. Vicky even has to pawn her pocketbook and cellphone. Oh well.
The sting on Correa is in force. Mario shows the cops some photos of bad guys whom Interpol is tracking for the white slave operation. The pictures are put where Correa can get to them. Sure enough, he takes them, and drops them off to a guy on a motorcycle in full view of Lopez. There's a chase of the cycle, and the guy seems to get away, but they now know Correa is bad. When Correa gives the photos to Tiberio, no one recognizes any of them, and Tiberio knows if was a trap. He tells Felix to kill Correa. Oh well, Correa, you were bad, and now you'll suffer.
There were some very loving moments between Lola and Andres.
I think Andres is going to Panama to find out if Tiberio is really dead, not necessarily to find Soledad. How stupid is Andres! He doesn't want to tell Debora where he's going and then he leaves his ticket to Panama right there.
Didn't look like Debora enjoyed having sex with Tiberio.
Lola gets one of her bad feelings about Andres' trip.
Did Lola and Andres have sex or just necking?
Sofia sure is busy running to take care of Daniel in the rehab place and Adela in the hospital. All in that ridiculous strapless dress!
Pretty bad police work to lose both Correa and the guy on the motorcycle.
Hombre,
"Could the ending not be a happy one, but be something like Hamlet? (everyone dead except the servants). I don't know if they'd do that in a novela."
I've felt it was going to end like that ever since they slipped in the reference to Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None". But I do think they'll soften the ending just a tad for the American audience, allowing us some glimmer of hope. Someone relatively sympathetic may survive although with a sly wink that "nothing is as it seems".
Flor is inside the burning clinic while the rest of the P's are outside hopping around and screaming. Rafa goes inside but can't get to her. She's in a trance.
Sacramento is delirious with fever and kissed Catalina, calling her Amanda.
We have lots of scenes of Mariano Guerrero, El Jefe Civil, behaving like a complete ass. He's on a power trip, saying the minister of health wants the head of whoever set the fire at the clinic. He threatens to arrest all the P's. Enrique gets right in his face about an abuse of authority. Of course, he gets threatened.
It is assumed that Amanda has burned up. For once Ana shows love and concern for her sister.
Malicia and Rocío find Amanda with nothing more than a smudge of ash on her face. She tells them her mother was there with her and she followed her. She doesn't know how she got out. Rocío is in tears and says that her mother and Emilio saved her.
Piruetas and Enrique do a radio show about what happened at the clinic. The petroleros hear this and are outraged that the P's will be arrested.
Rafael is in the bar, saying they didn't find any trace of Flor after they put out the fire. He tells Mariano that that doctor and his male nurses have been ripping off the P's for years. Mariano asks why, if they were raped, they didn't report it. La Mina says that the rotten SOB's threatened them with withholding the carnet de sanidad (a card showing them in good health - likely meaning free of VD).
Flor appears and takes the blame for everything. She says she has nothing to be ashamed of, and can Mariano say the same? She then convinces the P's that were raped by the scummy doctor and his nurses to raise their hands.
The petroleros show up, with Pablo shouting about corrupt cops outside. Everyone goes out. Pablo is now the spokesperson, and he says the town will completely sink (financially) without the petroleros' business and the attraction of the 4 P's. He says to Mariano: "Just try to take them!".
Sacramento is somewhat better and talks with Raimundo about how he got there.
Mariano is ready to use his nasty telescoping baton on Pablo. He says he'll take Flor prisoner. Pablo grabs the thing. Rafael thinks Pablo defended Flor and the others because he's loyal to him. Rafael tells Mariano that there's a reporter here in the crowd. Do you want a story in the paper that you are defending rapists? Mariano finally gives up his power trip and takes the doctor and his male nurses off to jail.
There's a big celebration in the 4P's club where Zahra dances in Flor's place. The chicas wear some ghastly costumes with angel's wings!
Cat is looking like a teenager in love, remembering Sacto's kiss.
Amanda/Flor goes outside and tells Pablo she's Amanda when she's not being a P. They kiss in the middle of the street! Lunacy!
The whole fire story was strange and I don't mean just Flor's miraculous escape.
It seems to me unlikely that even with Urrieta's influence, the doctors in the town's only medical clinic are going to be convicted of raping prostitutes!
I guess Mariano didn't listen to his wife. He was alienting voters right and left.
I forget exactly what was the context but it was interesting when Rafael said that Pablo was supporting his position because he had saved Pablo's life.
I liked Zahra's dance. They have a big costume wardrobe at the 4P's. I love Piruetas' character, too.
I thought the same thing when Pablo and Amanda were kissing in the street - are they crazy? Yup, crazy in love.
Thank you Hombre and Jean.
I have a question, was anyone taking pictures of when Correa passed the picture over to the courier? I mean what are they going to accuse Correa of if they have nothing to substantiate the charge? Were there cameras in the office where he took the pictures from?
Yes, definitely STUPIDO de Andres to have his ticket in full view, I thought that was the dumbest thing I've seen and burst out laughing - all that action going on and the scene ended like that.
Adelita is out and saved - okay let's move on. I am sorry to say for my own sake I have no compassion for her, this was her choice and I somehow feel it sends the wrong signal to young women viewers that she gets rescued like that.
And I agree Sofia in that same dress? Really!
Also is there some kind of contest/guessing game where Camillio is concerned? Was not sure what that was supposed to be about, thought it was an ad for the visa card he was using to pay for his dinner.
Jean, the context of Rafael thinking Pablo was repaying a debt by helping out the P's was that a couple of days ago Pablo was doing something on the oil well. Something went wrong mechanically that I did not understand. Somehow Pablo was holding on for dear life, and, had he let go he'd have been killed. Rafa rushed up and did the right something to the equipment. Rafael hurt his hand and needed stiches. But he saved Pablo's life. Rafael now likes Pablo, as much as he's capable of it, and even offered him a free woman after the P's were saved from Mariano. When Pablo refused, Rafael teased him that he might be a faithful husband.
Jean, I don't think Lola and Andres had sex, just some hot kissing.
Nellie, I thought they showed Camilo recognize someone, but they never followed up on that. Maybe it just was a Visa product placement.
I'm not going to be able to watch tonight (Raven's football game!), so I'll look forward to your summaries tomorrow.
Hombre, more specifically that was a Chase Bank visa product placement. And it's not the first time they've done it. Once they showed someone standing beside of one of the newer, fancier, Chase ATM's for practically a whole scene.
Great comments everyone. I have to agree that Matias has to go. Shucks!!
I also thought that Gonzalo could be Renato's son, but that would make Ignacia his half-sister, and Renato would not let his favorite child get involved in such a situation -- UNLESS he knows that the judge that married them was an actor. But he wouldn't approve of their sleeping together. So that leaves Eva -which would explain Mabel's hatred for her and why she rejected her own children.
Hm ..time will tell....
Matías keeps Adolfo talking while he stealthily loosens the ropes binding his hands and feet. He frees himself and tries to make a run for it. Noooooh! He never had a chance! Gonzalo shoots him in the belly and then in the head. He tells Adolfo to get rid of the body.
Rebeca senses the moment the shot is fired and knows Matías is gone forever.
Rebeca reports his disappearance to the police and names Javier as the person likely to be responsible. The police already have a file on Javier’s previous threat and attempted abduction of Matías.
Gonzalo finds Rebeca in her office and gives her a big, comforting psycho hug.
Pilar is back home with Javier. She tries to get him to tell her where he went last night. The police show up to question Javier. They make a horrifying discovery: Matías’s body is stowed in the back of Javier’s car. Javier is more aghast than anyone at the sight. As Gonzalo watches from behind the iron fence of the Conde property, the police arrest Javier.
Eva is with Rebeca in the law office when the call comes: Matías’s body has been found.
Rebeca goes to Renato with the news. Both he and Rebeca are sure Javier is guilty and Renato feels responsible for getting Matías involved.
In their creepy cellar hideaway, the Mora boys are exultant. Not only did they get rid of Matías but Javier will be in jail for a very long time. Gonzalo/Iñaki is delighted that Pilar is his for the taking.
Adolfo (who regresses about 15 years when big brother Iñaki is around) gets upset – Pilar wasn’t in the plan! And this would be the time to get away. Renato is dead. They have all his money.
But Iñaki isn’t finished doing harm. Adolfo/Ismael needs to keep creating chaos in the Conde home. Gonzalo/Iñaki wants more – more blood, more tears, more pain. Todavía falta el tiro de gracia...el peor de todos...
The Mora boys are unhappy at the news that Mabel may be in Miami. And Adolfo frets that he wouldn’t recognize her in the street.
Gonzalo/Iñaki, in his role as family protector, gathers the Condes to give them the news about Matías’s murder and Javier’s arrest. Eva says softly “If it happened between 9 and 11pm, it couldn’t have been Javier...”
Pilar visits Javier in jail. He swears he couldn’t have killed Matías because he was with Eva. He refuses to tell her why.
Now it’s Ignacia’s turn to get a big psycho hug from Gonzalo. He has to say goodbye for now but he’ll always take care of the family – and especially her.
Emilio stops Gonzalo on his way out of the house. He needs to tell him about the third brother: Iñaki. As Emilio explains that he is on the verge of identifying Iñaki – there are only three people listed with that name and they know it is someone very close – Gonzalo is picking up a scarf and wrapping it around his fists in a scary way. It looks like Emilio has hacked his last computer when he inadvertently saves his neck by adding: Carola knows everything he knows. They both know that Ismael and Iñaki killed Ivan; and they also probably killed Matías.
Gonzalo returns to the cellar hideout. He’s furious with Adolfo for being so careless that the Condes were able to follow their trail. Tomorrow they’ll need to get rid of the kid detectives. Gonzalo will take care of Carola; Adolfo will dispose of Emilio. Clear?
Carola goes to the same bar as last night and sees the same spooky guy. His friend calls him away. His name is Omar.
Igacia dreams of a visit from Matías. You’re dead, she tells him. Then Adolfo appears and says to her: So are you. He shoots her. She wakes up.
Carola has found Mabel’s card in Ignacia’s drawer. She calls her to arrange a meeting. She wants to know if it was Mabel who arranged for Igor to be removed from the Conde house.
Eva pays a call on the Ruiz home where Pilar is staying with her children. Eva seems taken aback when Pilar asks her what she was doing with Javier at the time Matías was killed...
Excellent summary, NovelaMaven. As for what Javier and Eva were doing, weren't they just discussing the legal plans to impugn Renato's will and recover the money for the family? That doesn't sound so bad. Maybe one of them will decide to release that info (unless they were doing more).
I feel terrible for Rebeca and hope she can somehow be the hero. Maybe, if it eventually comes out that Javier couldn't have killed Matias, she remember what she keeps saying, "I don't trust any of you people", and realize that applies to Gonzalo as well.
I sure hope the junior detectives survive the night.
Last night was book group night, so I managed to watch the episode when I got home, but took no notes. That's the only way I can come up with cogent comments, by the way, is by writing notes as I watch.
I do remember that Flor and Pablo sneaked off together and, I think, made love. All they really showed was the two of them in the water. Since they never showed them horizontal, I guess we're to assume they did the deed. Flor did say that she didn't know "it" could be like this.
Rafael was getting more and more upset when Flor did not appear to do her dance. Zahra tried at first to fend him off by saying she'd be on last. Then, she took him to bed to buy Flor time.
These two have plenty of passion together. He left in a rather callous way afterward, but she was weeping, disgusted with herself for feeling something for him again.
Pablo is an ambiguous character. He was very insistent that he and Flor go off together, knowing the risk. Also he lied to Sacramento because of his OWN interest in Flor. Then he appeared at Rafael's hacienda saying he knew something about Sacramento's whereabouts. He doesn't really know where he is now, but I don't know why he'd do such a thing.
Rafael welcomed him as a friend, had him stay overnight, and had breakfast with him the next morning. Very odd.
I was able to watch after all. Sure enough, Correa gets killed by Tiberio's man (in an elevator), and the cops don't catch the guy.
Andres and Camilo are in Panama. After paying off the records guy, they find that Tiberio's last name was Guzman, and that a former associate of his was in jail for about 30 years, but is now dying of lung cancer, and may talk.
They go visit the guy, who won't talk unless he gets a box of Cuban cigars. He's dying anyway, why not go out with some fun? They get him the stogies, and he tells how Tiberio and he were just about to be caught years ago. Tiberio shot him in the back, so Tiberio got away, and he was left paralyzed and imprisoned for 30 years. That's the kind of guy Tiberio is or was (he doesn't know if Tiberio is dead). Andres and Camilo found a notation of his death, but they may not believe it.
Back in the USA, Rodrigo tries to convince Andres to come home. Sofia tries to convince Rodrigo he needs more treatment before he can go home. In both cases, the response is no, prompting Sofia to say "you're as stubborn and your son".
Fugencio Lopez is being very nice to Adelita, and she now sees him much more positively than before, when he was "just a poor cop". She has to go to a treatment center, the way Daniel did. I wonder if it'll be the same one (probably. There's usually one hospital, one doctor, one treatment center, for everything).
Lola is going to start her gymnasium, and Adelita can be a partner. This cheers her up quite a bit.
Soledad discovers she's now in Jalisco (I think - it's somewhere in Mexico). Tiberio unsheaths his sword (a real sword, what were YOU thinking?) and goes to kill her, but just can't do it. He falls asleep. She picks up the sword. Will she kill him? (I say no way, although MAYBE she could cut off her shackles with the sword).
Hombre,
As for what Javier and Eva were doing, weren't they just discussing the legal plans to impugn Renato's will and recover the money for the family? That doesn't sound so bad. Maybe one of them will decide to release that info (unless they were doing more).
I wondered the same thing. After all, both Eva and Javier had already publicly their intention to challenge Renato's will. What's the big deal about the two of them getting together to talk about it? It makes no sense for Javier to choose jail over revealing such a conversation. There's got to be something else...
I was also struck by Rebeca's repeatedly saying she doesn't trust anyone while she continues to place implicit trust in Gonzalo. In fact the only ones who don't trust Gonzalo -- who have never trusted him -- are Javier and Eva. And both are so tarnished now that they have zero credibility.
----------
So. We've definitely moved into the lethal stage of the novela where threats are no longer idle and where people we have learned to care about begin to drop...
NovelaMaven, thanks so much for the recap, I changed the channel after Matias was killed. That second shot felt so loud.
Javier and Eva seem to know more. I am not sure if it was explained why Eva shot Mabel? I am speculating that Eva knows that either of the boys is Renatos son, but since Mabel was never around the murderous boys have no clue, but Eva does, and she can't let that come to light? Only guessing here, have no idea. But in this TN like Alguien, there is always something about the villians moms.
But tonight's preview when Renato is spotted, it seemed odd that he would show up in a public place like that especially since most of his family members would be there.
Since Inaki loves Pilar, I wonder if scary Pilar is going to be the one to kill him saving Javier? I think my mind is more on how the boys are going to get caught. Any announcements on future killings?
Nellie, Thanks!
I am not sure if it was explained why Eva shot Mabel?
Maybe someone else remembers it differently, but as far as I know, we just have Eva's own explanation to her daughters: She was furious at Igor and Mabel for betraying Renato's trust and embezzling his money (although this charge later proved to be untrue.)

It did seem odd that Renato would show up in public; on the other hand, maybe with Javier in jail, he feels relatively safe. He's risking discovery but doesn't feel he's risking his life. (Of course we know that nothing could be farther from the truth.) Besides, he's feeling very remorseful about Matías's death and probably feels a strong need to pay his respects in person, consequences be damned.

Last night Gonzalo announced that Carola and Emilio had to go. With what they know, they are one mouse click away from finding a photo of Iñaki/Gonzalo online. But any one of several people might be the next victim...
This one is getting better all the time. The last scene with Pablo and Amanda was great. It got even better when CC brought Sacto down to see with his own eyes what's going on with the two of them.
Things are gonna get crazy next week when Rafael figures out what's going on.
Catalina has a plan to use Sacto to kill Rafael. She also has a pretty good crush on him.
Looks like Raimundo is Sactos father.
So I'm wondering with the Gringo Peter...is he faking the terrible accent...it's like novelamaven pointed out in La Reina I think, there was a horrible sounding Gringo speaking Spanish but with perfect grammar. Same with this guy! Can someone actually develop that level of spoken Spanish grammatic-wise but still sound that bad?? :)
I cracked up when Amanda was dragging her trunk out of the house and along the sidewalk. Nowhere to go and a trunk too big to carry...just leave it there in the street and head down to the river! :) haha. One of those moments where I was like..really??
Some good actors in this one.
