Alborada, 9/28/2011. Cap. 85
On YouTube, haguilar78's clips for Cap 85 start at this link.
Thank you, Carlos, for today's pictures. Not only TBLMOE, but also our favorite comedy team, Han and Chewy.

I think we can thank the intervention of the telenovela gods. We might be tempted to think that Juana isn't all that bad - now that she's seen the destruction she caused, she has repented, especially when she knows she'll soon meet her maker. We want to believe that she'd make things right, if only given a chance. So the TN gods gave her the perfect opportunity - Luis knows the truth, he has the evidence, he's speaking to her calmly in private. But STILL she refuses to yield. Still she tries to figure out a way to supress the truth. Kill the geezer? Maybe so. And so, given the perfect opportunity, she still refuses to repent, proof that she has earned her piecart of scorpions.
It's a very common TN device, giving a character one last perfect chance. The character chooses the wrong path, and almost immediately that choice brings tragedy and destruction into his life. Although it's a common device, it's one I really like.
At some point yesterday, I don't remember the details, but Antonio said something about, "Solo uno sobra (only one is left)." The equivalent to the old Western line, "This town ain't big enough for the both of us."
So I think he intends the duel to be to the death. Whereas duels were typically for honor (e.g. in response to an insult), this one isn't. It's really to see who ends up with Hipo. As such, one must die.
Is Tony a fool to fight Luis to the death? No. If he wins, his rival is gone. (And he thinks that he can then win Hipo's love, after he has killed her One True Love???) But if he loses, he also wins. Tony's compelling goal is to prove that he really is a man. That shadow has plagued his life ever since his childhood. It's why he won't divorce Hipo - not because of scandal, but because people will think he's not a real man. He knows that while they both live, he can never win Hipo's love and prove them all wrong. But if he dies in a duel because of his love for a woman, he will have "died like a man." He will finally gain what has eluded him his whole life - recognition that Antonio es todo hombre.
In fact, I DO think Antonio is a fool to think that killing his rival will do him any good with Hip. I think she'd leave him outright rather than stay with him; or if he tried to imprison her, she'd find some fun passive-aggressive way to make him miserable.
So I hope that proving his manliness to himself will be enough to not only make him feel better about having killed someone, but being emphatically rejected by his wife.
(Not that I'm especially worried he'll be able to kill Luis anyway.)
Speaking of foolish, what the heck is Perla trying to do? Is she hedging her bets by encouraging Marcos? I really wish we could fix him up with someone who DIDN'T hatch the scheme that ended up with Hipolyta kidnapped and almost raped, and Martin dead.
I'd rather Luis spared Antonio's life and Antonio go away with Perla. Marcos can then find someone else. (Anyone else, really.)
As for Han and Chewie, something about the way they're posed makes them look like a pair of morning show co-hosts.

Paula- I love the explanation of the one last chance for redemption for Juana.
Got my TV y novelas today. There is an interview with Cristina, she says FC has had the same novia since colegio. She's blond & looks like a model.
Carlos is being so nice to the ladies. Tks Carlos & Paula.

Until the Delicious thing is sorted out, use this link ( http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default/-/Alborada?max-results=300 ) to locate the "new" (Paula/Carlos) recaps.
Don't blame Delicious. Blame su servidor recapper. I had an error in the link code (veteran recappers, I'll bet you can guess what error I made), and I didn't test the link after I posted it. It was just coincidence that the two problems popped up on the same day. Please forgive my sloppy work.
I have fixed the link in today's post, and I'm about to check the other days' posts. I didn't realize there was a problem until Vivi spoke up. I know that the microculture here on Caray is to never complain about recappers, and that keeps things pleasantly civil. But if something's not working (like the links to old recaps), or I make a clear error (like posting the wrong day's YouTube link), please at least let me know about it. I admit, doing this five days a week, I'm not as careful as I should be. If I make a mistake, someone please give me a nudge so I can fix it.
I wholeheartedly apologize for depriving you of the old recaps, especially during these exciting final caps. I wish I had realized my error so I could've fixed it sooner.
Anyway, it appears the Delicious thing has been worked out too, since all the recaps are there now. I noticed their tech blog says there was a password reset bug, plus they're in the process of a big technical transition, so it could have been a lot worse!
My error was in the quotation marks. I wrote them correctly, but Word, as usual, decided that it knows what I want better than I do. As Strongbad says, "My computer has too much computer in it. Not enough typewriter."
I do not like where the writers are going with Marcos and Perla. He deserves better than Luis' and Antonio's leftovers, who's also not the most trustworthy person. So the opposite of him.
Also, I haven't tested this (I keep forgetting), but I think maybe you don't have to use the quotation marks at all. Let's test without quotes: RSS feed for new Alborada recaps
HA! It works!! Quotes not needed!!
And I agree about Marcos and Perla... I hope that's just a red herring to upset us.
Get over yourself, Antonio!
Count me in as not wanting Marcos to end up with Perla.
What is Luis concocting in his laboratory all the time? I've never seen any results.
I haven't the faintest idea what Luis has been working on in the lab, but maybe it's something he can make a big bucket of money off of. You know, just in case something goes wrong with that Count stuff.
I could use a nice tall margarita right now.
