Alborada, 10/3/2011. Cap. 88

Today's episode is covered in Melinama's Recap #35, Wednesday segment, at this link.

On YouTube, haguilar78's clips for Cap 88 start at this link. Be advised, the YouTube clips don't quite line up with what is broadcast.

Stunning pictures Carlos sent us today. Zowie!

Antonio redeemed himself today. Great episode! I wonder if the end of today was cut off like yesterday, which, in case you did not read the posting I added earlier today, was cut off in my location (Chicago) on Friday. I saw Ramon die today when they replayed the ending of Friday's episode.

Great pix, Carlos!

Cindy

I didn't Ramon's demise on Friday either. For me it ended when Hip was being dragged by the inquisition.

I've fallen behind a bit, need to catch up on 87 and 88, but I can see from the pictures that there's been a catastrophic raspberry jam explosion.

Julie, wasn't it in the Boston area that there was once a catastrophic molassas disaster? Many lives lost, buildings leveled, etc. Right?

They staged one hell of a sword fight!

Audrey

We get funnier as it gets more dastardly. Thanks to Paula and Carlos. I am going to miss this when it is over but this is Balloon Fiesta week in Albuquerque and I am leaving the house before 5AM and not remembering to record Alborada.

Paula yes there was a great Molasses factory explosion that made killing hot molasses run in the streets like a flood. I know a lot of people died who couldn't get away from the destruction caused or the river of molasses itself.

I don't know if I ever mentioned that I lived in the Boston area for 27 years after Wyoming and Colorado but before Los Angeles and New Mexico so that is how I know my molasses story.

Loved the sword fight. Certainly more exciting than guns.
Antonio did redeem himself but he should have finished Diego off. I kept yelling at him to kill him otherwise Diego was going to kill him instead. What's wrong with these men that they don't know these things?

They're telenovela men! (That's what's wrong with them).

Audrey

Wow, Cheryl, you've lived all over. Yes, the infamous molasses flood. It does sound funny at first, but the mess crushed buildings. And you can just imagine what the aftermath must have been like.

I'm caught up now and I was surprised in #86 when Perla said "this is my fault" about Hip getting arrested by the Inquisition. Since when does she care about that? Is developing a conscience one of the side-effects of pregnancy?

Wonderful sword fight, but Diego plays dirty, as always. Antonio is a victim of the writers.

I have always liked Antonio, he is only a victim of his upbringing. He is not mean.

I had such a problem with understanding Juana telling Diego he has syphilis, I kept thinking she was saying infeliz. I think I played that a dz times before I got it.

Variopinta

Variopinta, he suffers from infeliz too, a terminal case I believe.

Wow, what a fight scene!! One of the best ever. In fact this whole episode was action-packed and the acting was just superb.

Carlos, Paula is right, your picture choices for today are stunning. I love how Antonio stepped over on his way out but why oh why did he just stand there waiting for Diego to attack? He knows what a cheating scoundrel Diego is.

Julie, it was rather interesting how Perla and the other rameras acted so shocked and horrified at what happened to Hipolita. I wonder what they thought would happen? I guess they didn't count on someone actually outing her to the tribunal.

Paula and Carlos, thank you once again for the pictures and the post. I can't believe this is almost over.

Great pics Carlos. Julie- I am still laughing about the jam comment. :)

This was a great episode and I too loved that fight scene. I also wondered what the rameras thougth would happen. I mean, Antonio already knew about Hip and Luis. So who did they think they were going to get her in trouble with?

Vivi, both Luis and Antonio knew all the details regarding Hipolita. Maybe the rameras were hoping to "shame" Hipolita publicly or something, which seems odd considering they are, well, whores and all.

I have never understood why Antonio wouldn't just give Hipolita a divorce/annulment when it's obvious to an idiot that she doesn't love him. He's involved with Perla by this time; shouldn't that have been enough for him?

Only 2 more episodes left - that makes me sad.
I just knew Antonio would finally give Hipo her freedom and go live with Perla and child. Drat! Now Marcos will probably end up with her.
The fight between Antonio and Diego was incredible. Arturo Peniche really brings the intensity, doesn't he?
I've also enjoyed the actor playing Diego(forgot his name). I don't think I've seen him before, but he is very good.

I laughed at the bribe scenes in the prison. Everybody had a hand out. Así era, así es, así será...

Cap'n Sylvia, I bet that's exactly what the whores had in mind, and probably at least part of why - they're basically shunned for their behaviour (at least by polite-society women), and meanwhile here's Hipolita doing something very similar with seemingly no consequences for it.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's also why they weren't expecting such severe consequences, either - they're just whores and it's just petty gossip. It might have gotten the society women tittering behind their gloves and giving Hipo the polite brush-off, but who's going to go to the Inquisition over whore gossip? (Except Diego, of course.)

Boy, Diego's a crybaby, isn't he? Squealing like a stuck pig (...okay, maybe that's an acurate description), while poor Antonio, with his mortal wound, is the portrait of stoicism. (And Team Luis, the poster boys for gentlemen! Their ramly rival is riding down the road to death's door, and does anyone say, "You know, if Antonio dies, that's half our problems fixed right there?" No! The first thing out of Felipe's mouth is, "OMGWTFBBQ, why has no one called you a doctor yet?!")

Good point, Sylvia - the rameras probably aren't used to people taking what they say seriously!
