El Mundo de Telemundo, Week of October 10, 2011: Discuss Amongst Yourselves
Labels: casa-lado, flor-salvaje, insiste, telemundo
Part 1 of 2
This is the story of three families whose fates are intertwined.
The Condes sit on top of an immense fortune. The father, Renato, seems like a decent guy; but the wife and children are insufferable snobs with an exaggerated sense of entitlement and unburdened by empathy or conscience.
The Mora boys, Iñaki and Ismael, blame the familia Conde for all their misfortunes and conspire to strip them not only of their livelihood but also of their lives, one by one.
Javier and Pilar Ruiz are satellites of the Conde family, orbiting within their gravitational pull. Javier has made a career of working for Renato. His feelings toward his boss are ambivalent: resentful of being the underling, Javier has been stealing from Renato for years; but he also feels a nearly filial sense of loyalty to the Conde family, and to Renato in particular; and he burns with jealousy whenever he feels that his place with Renato is being eclipsed by someone else.
At this point in the narrative, the Moras have inflicted great pain on the Condes. Indeed the Conde empire appears on the verge of collapse. And several people with ties to the Condes have been killed. But the Condes themselves are still standing. It is the Moras who are dying – they are murdering each other!
First, Iñaki and Ismael killed the good brother, Iván. Later, Iñaki murdered their father, Igor, a helpless old man who could only watch in mute horror at the atrocities being committed in his name. Now the two surviving sons have sworn to kill one another. They have come close to doing so more than once. (But somehow I think Mabel will beat them to the cemetery.)
So I wonder ... maybe this will end with the haughty Conde family – who have always been morally bankrupt – becoming finally literally bankrupt, perhaps scratching out a living in Hialeah but still, all told, alive; while the psychopathic Moras complete the job of wiping each other off this earth.
And in the Department of Nature vs Nurture
(for anyone who may be forgetting that this is, after all, a telenovela)
Will the Conde kids find their birth parents? Will their identity be significant to us?
Is Iñaki really the son of Renato Conde and Mabel Mora – or is there something else Mabel isn’t saying?
Is Diego in fact Ricardo Merino’s biological son?
Could therapist Sebastián be Andrea’s biological father?
Is Rebeca actually pregnant with Javier’s baby?
Will Eva Spencer really end up with Hilda’s daughter?
Part 2 of 2
A wrap-up of Friday’s happenings:
Karen survives the bullet meant for Pilar (just as earlier she survived the poison meant for Pilar). She’s going to be just fine. Not only that, Nibaldo is there at her bedside when she wakes up in the hospital.
Nibaldo has told Yolanda he’s really leaving her. Yolanda is so distraught that Renato asks Pilar to come over and talk to her.
Omar turns up drunk – just as he did after the death of the still mysterious Maribel. He has been fired as an addiction counselor because of Carola’s false accusation of rape. Omar’s therapist (and Pilar’s old flame), Sebastián, heads out to the Conde house to talk to Carola and is surprised to meet up with Pilar, also headed in that direction.
Carola is on the verge of learning the identity of her birth parents. She asks Ignacia and Emilio to be with her when the truth is revealed.
Rebeca doesn’t know what to think -- Is Adolfo telling the truth? Could Gonzalo really be Iñaki Mora? She can’t stop thinking about it; and even worse, she can’t stop talking about it – first she tells Gonzalo himself (yikes!) and then she tells Ignacia (who doesn’t believe her). Will Pilar believe her? More importantly: Is this going to be the end of flawed but lovable Rebeca?
Javier, meanwhile, tells Rebeca to leave Miami right away. With crazy Adolfo on the loose, he’s worried about the safety of his unborn (and perhaps nonexistent) baby.
Adolfo sends another email to Rebeca. This time he tells her to ask Emilio about a photo of the three brothers. It’s the photo we’ve seen before – it shows the Mora twins and just the hand of a third person. Emilio wants to know what Rebeca is up to but she begs him – for his own safety – not to ask any questions.
Finally, Javier returns from Miami with the grim news – there is no recovery possible after the New York hotel fire. The Conde family is ruined. They are going to lose everything, even the house.
When I saw Diana's smug delight as she eavesdropped on the latest break-up between Andres and Lola, I wanted to smack her. I hoped Lopez would live and that Daniel would turn his attention to Diana instead. But maybe Adelita will be pregnant, and Daniel will win her back by offering to help raise Lopez's child.
It certainly looked like Angel had a meeting with Diana after the memorial, but then as the rep for Exportex "investors", of course he would be meeting with her for official business, if not over secretly breaking up Lola and Andres. But if the meeting was totally above-board official, why would he bring "wanted poster boy" Felix the mousse head? It amazes me that since the police now know that Tiberio turned out to be the major secret investor in Exportex, why aren't they investigating Angel and why isn't Lola suspicious of him since Angel addressed "stranger" Tiberio by name before shooting him?
The Washington, DC area Telemundo still isn't broadcasting English subtitles, but it just started re-airing at 11:30 pm for the fourth time Sin Senos with Carmen Villalobos. It was delightful to catch Roberto Mateo (Tiberio) as one of the drug lords.
--Mary
Thanks for the recap and comments. Mora (and Mario the boss) really think they're getting close to cracking the case now. Rodrigo has given them Lola's phone, with the photo message. They figured out this was Debora's old Exportex phone. Also, they've tracked it to Tiberio's old apartment (I thought no one knew about that). Anyway, they may be able to find the hideout. Rodrigo says we've thought that before, but it didn't work out.
As bad a Daniel was at the beginning, I think he really has turned his life around. And Adelita always had more passion for him than for Fugencio. Fulgencio was safe, kind, comforting. But Daniel inspires passions, as as telenovela fans, we know that's what it's all about.
I agree that Diana is probably working with Angel.
Good analysis, NovelaMaven of the 3 families. I was wondering how they could keep this novela going, but they introduced a number of new characters (Omar, Mabel and now Sebastian) to keep things cooking.
I think when Hilda saw her Aunt Yolanda crying, she started to break through her shell, and may start to care about the baby soon.
Both Javier and Gonzalo are such amazing characters, with so many contradictions. As NovelaMaven has pointed out, Javier is odious in many ways, but has sincere feelings for Ignacia, and for the Conde family, and a sense of duty. Gonzalo has killed multiple times, but truly loves Pilar, and often seems to question his ultimate goal (unlike crazy Adolfo).
It's just too funny to me the way everyone runs to Pilar as the local therapist, to treat Carola, Hilda, now Yolanda (I think), when she can't even BEGIN to solve her OWN problems.
As the new guy in town, Sebastian could easily become the next victim (I have no clue how, but think of all the other minor characters who ended up dead!)
to make us (the audience) believe that Pilar is a good therapist the author seems to not have thought of anything other than Renato's advises!
I really wonder what Sebastian's destiny will be: a happy ending with Pilar or being killed by The Mora boys? apparently Pilar is not interested in him at all.
and what will happen to Rebeca? she talked to everyone about Gonzalo's probably real identity. she didn't pay attention to Gonzalo's warning... now what choice does he have but to kill her? :-|
Jean, thanks very much for the summary.
I, too, noticed the reverently placed gigantic photo of Ben Franklin. Msybe every police station is supposed to honor the founding fathers?
Mary: interesting suggestion that Adela could be pregnant from her one night with Lopez...and a nice way to tie up that broken love triangle.
J in Oregon
Just before Debora is about to shoot Diana, Felix scoops her up and drives off with her.
The CCTV in the parking lot clearly shows Felix but Angel was hiding his face. This confirms to the police that Tiberio's gang is still active under a new leader.
Debora tells a furious Angel that since he forbade her to kill Lola, she decided to kill Diana. Angel suggest that she kill Andres but, of course, Debora won't consider that idea.
Once again, Angel tells Felix that they have to find out where Debora has stashed her insurance policy.
Rodrigo holds a press conference where they confirm that Lopez did not shoot Ramon and the whole thing was a set up. He asks for the public's help in locating Felix, Vicky (an ex-exotic dancer previously known as the Veracruz Hurricane), Soledad and Debora, described as armed, dangerous and smart.
Watching the news conference on TV, Vicky realizes that if the police didn't kill Ramon, it must have been Angel but Debora is enraptured at being called smart and dangerous and is oblivious.
Angel invites Lola to go to dinner with him. She declines saying that she has to take care of Adelita. After she gives Adelita a sleeping pill, Lola changes her mind and decides to go out to dinner with Angel.
Andres is visiting the doll wrapped in a blanket when Angel shows up to get Lola. In revenge, he asks Diana out. She suggests the restaurant in her condo, which, she says after the call, puts Andres very close to her bed. Of course, Lola and Angel are eating in the same restaurant.
Meanwhile, left alone, Adelita has not gone to sleep as everyone thought. She decides to kill herself by slitting her wrists in the bathtub.
I think that was about it.
Jean, thanks for the great recap. That was funny that they described Vicki as the former exotic dancer, rather than high society wife of Ramon.
Lola and Andres are exactly the same, even though each one thinks he/she's doing nothing wrong, while the other one is a terrible traitor. Similarly, Angel and Diana are both using their sex appeal to get all the money that Lola and Andres have. Remember, Lola got all of Tiberio's assets (even though she said she didn't want them). Of course Angel can't be blatant with his sex appeal, that would turn Lola off. He has to play the kind, caring, smart, handsome guy, which so far, he's carrying off pretty well.
What a tangled, twisted world, or, another day, another murder.
Carola is going to find her birth parents tomorrow. Emilio agrees to go, but Ignacia won't.
Javier tells Renato he's lost everything. They'll even lose the house and their stock will be worthless. What about the insurance on the hotels? Well, that was "invalidated" when Renato faked his death (seems a little iffy, but that's the deal). So Renato is destroyed, and Eva finds out, and is also destroyed.
Sebastian and Pilar both showed up at the Conde house to do some therapy. Sebastian was going to help Carola, and Pilar was going to help Yolanda. They're both surprised to see each other, and when Javier comes out and sees them, he immediately goes into his crazed jealous mode. He later sends a thug to Sebastians' apartment to beat him up (having gotten the address from Carola under threat of jail time for her various things (like the checks).
But Sebastian wasn't at his apartment. Omar was, having no other place to go, and of course the thug opens the door, asks "Sebastian Andrade?", and without waiting for an answer, beats Omar up without mercy.
Sebastian did speak to Carola, who admitted she got Omar fired with a false rape claim, and Sebastian says she'll have to clear it up at Omar's AA job, and also apologize to Omar. She tries to apologize to Omar (this was before he got beaten up), but he won't talk to her.
Pilar gives Yolanda a little therapy for her "loss" of Nibaldo. There are always 5 stages with a loss, denial, anger, 2 others I forgot and acceptance. Yolanda's in denial. She does, however, tell Sebastian that Javier's abusing Pilar, and has to be stopped. We'll see if Sebastian gets anywhere with this (doubt it).
After Javier's latest humiliation (about Sebastian), Pilar tells Rebeca she's had it, she's leaving Javier, and going with Gonzalo. Rebeca says are you sure, Adolfo keeps saying that Gonzo is Adolfo's brother, and is a killer. Pilar thinks this is laughable, and even Rebeca seems to agree (but not totally).
Meanwhile, that wonderful guy Gonzalo wants to buy a new house, far away from the neighbors. A real estate agent (Jimena) shows him one with 7 bedrooms, 8 baths, 17,000 square feet and a big basement. The owners are overseas, and havent' been back in a year. They go to see it, and I'm wondering how he's going to pay for it. Oh, now I see. In the basement, Gonzalo puts on his black gloves, and chokes the life out of Jimena. He leaves her dead in the basement, having acquired his new torture headquarters for just the right price!
Also, Nibaldo has snuck into Karen's bedroom at the Ruiz house, and going to live there secretly for a few weeks while she recovers from her gunshot wound, before they leave for their new life. He's sure he won't be discovered. Hah!
Oh, and one more thing. Pilar's plan is to leave with Gonzalo and both kids, leave the United States, and Rebeca's going with her. I'm sure this will work out perfectly. :)
Thanks, Hombre! It's great having you in full Columbo mode (...just one more thing, Ma'am...):)
It's funny how murdering people seems to give Gonzalo a crick in the neck and he has to do his little neck flex thing afterwards. I guess that's his actor shtick, like Julián's hair thing in "Alguien".
This latest real estate lady murder was particularly appalling -- so obviously premeditated and utilitarian. Even so, it was a bit sloppy. After all, both Olga and Rebeca saw her with Gonzo. Even if her body remains undiscovered, surely someone will notice she's missing and her whereabouts will be tracked to Gonzo's office.
Poor Omar. Carola is the gift that just keeps giving. She may not have anticipated that Omar would be at Sebastian's place and get the beating intended for him, but she surely realized Javier was up to no good; as usual, she yields to pressure and chooses the "me first" path of action.
It was hilarious the way Eva and Hilda stood around watching while Pilar was trying to "shrink" Yolanda -- neither one had the brains or discretion to give them any privacy. They had to be asked to leave.
And I loved the way Yolanda turned right around and explained Pilar's problems to Sebastián. Arguably, Yolanda has more insight into Pilar's problems than Pilar has into Yolanda's.
I'm getting so confused with this TN, so many similarities with characters of Alguien, in my head I'm just interchanging characters. I wonder how close the ending will be to Alguien?
This will be extremely bare bones. I went to the world's most dysfunctional wedding in Las Vegas over the weekend and still have not had time to do more than watch this novela.
Anyway, the novela began, as usual, where it ended, with Flor begging Rafa to tell her where Pablo is - alive or dead. She points a gun at him, but Mariano grabs it from her.
He doesn't seem to have any affection left for her. It's all turned to hate.
Flor has a confrontation with Mariano where he tells her he'll burn her up like her mother. Sacto, as usual, comes to the rescue. Somehow Sacto and Flor are not arrested.
We see flashbacks of Correcaminos being thrown out of her home by her rotten parents because she got pregnant. She appears to give birth in an alley, and gives her child, a boy, to her grandmother to care for, promising to send money. The granny has died and the child is being sent to live with her in the Calle de Consuelos. She's very upset that she doesn't know how to be a mother, but I think the P's are going to use the "It takes a village" strategy and all raise the kid.
Tío Francisco approaches Zahra, saying he saw her in the church and asking about buying Enrique's paintings. Somehow he manages to insinuate that the people in Nueva Esperanza wouldn't appreciate them anyway, and that's the end for Zahra. She leaves in a huff.
José María isn't too happy about Sacto being his brother. He thinks Sacto is great but he's worried about the effect on his mother.
Alicia has a four-star hangover. She wakes up to find Piruetas gone. He's going to check that the money is in his account. For a moment I thought he was going to try to keep it all, but he does show her the balance.
Sacto again rejects Cat, saying he doesn't want to be her right-hand person at the petrolero. He tells her again that he doesn't love her.
Rafa tells Rufino to feel out the hands at the hacienda to find out who's with him, even to the extent of pretending to be against Rafa himself.
Tío Francisco approaches Piru and asks him how can he get a night with Zahra.
Thanks for the 'cap, Novelera.
Flor's behavior is certainly not helping her credibility as a witness against Rafa and both Rafa and Mariano know this.
Even when he was asking about the paintings, Tio Francisco managed to express lust toward Zahra so his request to Piru was no surprise.
Manuela's confession to the priest that she had lustful thoughts and wants to work on the Calle de Consuelos was a shocker. That should make Frigida happy!!
I must say how nice it is to see Rocio's beautiful face without her wearing a veil all the time like a refugee from El Clon.
I really wonder what Gonzalo is going to do with that big house... and I also wonder what he is really feeling about Renato's bankruptcy. he can't be indifferent anyhow. he must be either happy or unhappy about it.
Alex, maybe Gonzalo will take Pilar, Andrea, Diego and Rebeca to the new house and hold them prisoner. As for what he feels about Renato's bankruptcy, he's probably happy, since he always wanted revenge.
It appears that Andres and Lola spent most of the time they were in the restaurant staring at each other instead of their partners.
Fulgencio appears to Adelita in her bathtub of blood and says that he doesn't want her to join him. She has to live her life; she has so much to give, etc., etc. She cries out for help and Pepe and Etelvina come running.
Any romantic plans Angel had for the evening, are cut short when firt Angel gets a call from Felix about the CCTV footage of them in the parking garage. Angel tells Lola that a relative is ill. Unfortunately, he has just told her that he doesn't have any relations so he has to improvise and say that it is woman that he calls, "aunt."
Then Lola gets a call about Adelita.
Diana invites Andres to her apartment for coffee and dessert but he declines.
Angel puts Debora under house arrest. Felix is to stay with her and make sure she doesn't leave and screw up more things.
Angel sends his men out to check all the lawyer/notary offices by showing a picture of Debora. They strike paydirt when a secretary blabs that Debora left something with her boss. Angel shows up at the lawyer's office with a gun. We see him listening to Debora's recording while the secretary finds the lawyer dead.
The secretary evidently recognized the woman who left the papers as the fugitive, Debora but she didn't call the police, of course. Thanks to her, her boss is dead.
Adelita is released from the hospital and tells Lola that she wants to help people. She decides to volunteer at the addicts rehab place.
Diana comes into Andres' office and kisses him. Naturally, he doesn't immediately pull away and Daniel sees them.
I'm sure there was more but that's what I remember.
... or maybe Gonzaki will move the soon to be dispossessed Condes into the house. It's big enough -- and as poor foolish Ximena said, the 'sótano' can easily be used for more living (or should we say DYING) space).
I have to say I'm with Alex about Gonzaki's feelings. Sometimes it seems he is completely inside his Gonzalo persona and has left all of Iñaki's hatred and madness aside. And now that he believes that Renato is his actual father, maybe even the Iñaki persona has second thoughts about what he is doing.
---------
Too bad Ricardo Merino didn't have a little more malice in him. Javier deserved far worse than he got, especially after the beating he unleashed that was meant for Sebastián and ended up getting poor Omar instead.
-------------
As Nellie said yesterday, there sure is a family resemblance among the Telemundo novelas; and this one and Alguien have a lot in common. These days Pilar is starting to remind me of Piedad with her "Stand by your Psycho" stance. Meanwhile Rebeca seems like a slightly sluttier version of Matilde. Carola also seems to be reprising her Alguien character.
Thanks, Jean, you covered all the major events. Some minor ones were:
-Camilo tries to explain to Lola that she and Andres are being silly in denying their love, they've always been in love, it's different from his case, where Sofia never really loved him. Also, she should forgive Sofia and Rodrigo. But Lola can't, because she feels her Mom was betrayed.
---Debora realizes that Angel killed
Ramon, that Angel will kill her if he finds the recordings, and that he'll find the recordings soon. So she tells Vicki they're leaving tonight. This may not be so easy, with Felix on guard, but Debora is pretty clever.
--Even though Andres explains to Daniel that Diana kissed HIM, and that he has feelings only for Lola, Daniel is not totally convinced of this.
Also, Jean, good point about that secretary blabbing about Debora, and now her boss is dead. The first henchman of Angel did say he was a cop, but she should have asked for ID. Maybe she'll recognize Angel as the second guy who came in (unlikely, as he was wearing a hat, so of course that is a perfect disguise :)
Thanks NovelaMaven, I'm glad someone agrees with me. I am having a great deal of problems trying to watch this TN on telemundo via cablevision, the picture keeps breaking up, very frustrating so I just gave up and could not wait to read the recap.
I am waiting for Carola to meet her real parents. I also thought I saw a preview of Gonzalo holding a gun on Rebecca? Will she be the first invited to the house. A little bit like Alguien when Matilde found out about Julian. Was she not the first of the main characters that were put in danger?
NovelaMaven, you make some excellent points. That would be funny if the whole Conde family moved to the new house.
Pilar is so funny to watch. To me, the actress really is doing a great job. Previously, she seemed like such a tearful mess. But she's developed into a complete (though very contradictory) character. She's so different from her character in Perro Amor, in which she was a super sexy, super confident, bad girl. I can understand every single one of her wrongheaded decisions :) Her latest bright idea is that Hilda can be Sebastian's new secretary. Hilda is guardedly happy about this, but Yolanda feels more abandoned, which Pilar of course doesn't notice.
Yesterday I forgot that Javier, just as he was talking on the phone to the thug who beat up Omar, said something like "I'll deposit your money", then was hit on the head with a baseball bat. So, it's Ricardo Merino, who takes Javier to his sort of abandoned house. The neighbors are afraid of Ricardo, so they won't bother. Javier is tied up hands and foot. He never does figure out how to stand up, but he does maneuver his cell phone out of his pocket, and may be about to make a call.
By now, all the Condes know they're in bankruptcy (quiebra) and "the bank" is taking over the house. Again, just as with the adoption thing, Emilio takes it like a man. Ignacia and Eva both vow to "die" before they leave the house.
Gonzalo is willing to go to the ends of the earth with Pilar. As for Rebeca coming along.....not so much, but he hides this.
Omar is really badly hurt, in the hospital, eyes shut, neck brace, might not even survive. Carola feels terrible, but so far, they don't know Javier sent the thug, they think it was robbers who went to Sebastian's house.
In the comic relief department, Yolanda has to write down things she hates about Nibaldo. First on the list - he snores. Sure enough, we see Karen suffering next to a snoring Nibaldo, who also orders her to fix up some chiliquiles or tortillas several times a day, seems he's always hungry, and Karen's not so wild about this. Also, Andrea and Diego spot Nibaldo in the house. Ooops.
And at the end of the episode, Pilar goes to bed, still worried about Javier as he's been gone 24 hours, and Ricardo Merino is waiting for her in the bedroom. He grabs her from behind, claps his hand over her mouth, and is ready to "take" his "rights". Uuuuuuy!!
Thanks, Hombre! Great job!
Rebeca has gotten another email from Ismael: Does she still have the key (to the bank box)? She tells Gonzalo about it -- there's probably another piece of valuable info in the safe deposit box. And Gonzo does everything he can to discourage her from pursuing this new lead. I suppose he assumes that Adolfo has left something that identifies him, Gonzalo, as Iñaki Mora -- maybe a photo?
Nellie, In Alguien, not only did Matilde discover the killer's identity before the other principals did, her lover, Mauricio, was killed just as Matías was in this story.
By the way, I also have problems with Telemundo's signal breaking up. I'm not sure why that is but it's annoying enough to make me think about not getting hooked on any new Telemundo shows.
Hombre, Gonzalo is not as mad as holding Pilar and her children prisoners. he is a psychopath but a very intelligent one. so it would be a big script blunder if he does so. I wish your guess is not right! ;-)
"Sometimes it seems he is completely inside his Gonzalo persona and has left all of Iñaki's hatred and madness aside..."
NovelaMaven, I love this POV. Gonzaki's somehow REDEEMING would be my ideal ending. but I'm not sure Valenzuela thinks the same way :-(
I'm afraid at the end of the story Gonzaki would end up as a typical telenovela villain losing it's all interesting dimensionality :-/
Gonzaki CAN'T be redeemed. At least not completely. Usually, the characters who are redeemed have just been mean, played tricks, stolen, etc. It's very rare that if they've killed, they get redeemed. Gonzaki has killed many, many innocent people. He's a monster. I don't care how nice he acts to Pilar. He pretty much has to die. Maybe he could sacrifice himself for Pilar, and thus both die and prove loyal to her, but it would be a terrible disservice to the gardener, Ivan, Nurse Teresa, Matias and the real estate agent if Gonzaki were redeemed, even if he were now to completely change and be good and kind (and I don't think he will).
Alex, I do think NovelaMaven's idea of the whole Conde family moving to the new house is much more likely than Gonzalo taking Pilar and her kids there. I'm sure I was wrong with that guess.
The scene of López lifting Adelita out of the tub and convincing her to save herself worked for me somehow. I suppose it's partially because we already had Tía Chabela for weeks on end, urging Lola on to better behavior. So why not López in his cop's uniform?
Adelita becoming a drug counselor is a bit too trite for my taste, but oh well.
It's looking to me like Andrés is going to resist Diana until the end. He IS attracted, but her blatantly hitting on him all the time seems to make him skittish - especially in the office. Most modern men know all about sexual harassment, and are worried about being accused of it - even if he wasn't the one doing the harassing!
I guess he's doing a good job, but I can't STAND Ángel's phony grins. And I'd run like the wind in the opposite direction if a man I worked with poured it on that thick, saying how gorgeous she is every time he sees her, grabbing her hands all the time.
I'm not 100% convinced Diana is only Ángel's henchman. Whenever she thinks she's alone, she also seems like she's really after Andrés. After all, he IS gorgeous.
Hombre and Alex, I also think Gonzaki is way past redemption. It's just that sometimes he seems to think he really IS Gonzalo and not Iñaki.
And as for who ends up in the house, it's still anybody's guess (although Hombre has a better track record than I do at these things) :)
I don't know how these things work in real life, but it seems nutty to me that one day after the big fire they have to start packing their things. Wouldn't it be weeks before they had to leave and even then, an eviction notice with some period of time before the locks got changed?
I think some of you may think that Gonzalo is really buying that house. He's just squatting there, and that's why he killed the real estate agent. If the real owners are away, he has a place to stash bodies and maybe hide out if things get too hot.
Eva: "I'll die before I leave this house!" Fine by me. It was absolutely revolting the way she reproached Renato about their losing the house. Talk about kicking a guy when he's down!
Miguel Varoni can even act with duct tape over his mouth!
I think Karen is soon going to be ready to return Nibaldo in an "almost new" condition. He's big time annoying.
I really hope Rebeca manages to survive. She's the only character I can stand at this point.
Working from my memory isn't that great!
Tío Francisco is a very ambiguous character. He seems to really be smitten with Zahra and then he approaches Piruetas about buying up Enrique's paintings with a commission in it for Piru. Is Enrique that stellar an artist that they have monetary value? Or is is sentimental value? I can't tell if his feelings for Zahra are sincere or if he's playing her.
In any case, Tío Francisco only compliments Zahra and asks her questions, then gives her the money. He tells her how beautiful she is. She tells him she is the illegitimate daughter of a rich guy and a gypsy mother.
Ana has announced that, now she's 18, she wants to be one of the P's. So let her, says I.
Sacto tries over and over to get Flor to leave town. He's afraid of the same thing I am afraid of: when Rafa inevitably gets out, he'll take revenge. Mónica is doing a great job portraying the grief. It never seems over the top, and the tears look real, not glycerine.
Enrique is spiting Alicia by taking the P's to bed one after the other. Of course, as in all TN's when one character dumps another for their own good, they still expect the dumpee to be faithful to them. There's a funny scene where Zahra consults the reglas of the Calle de Consuelo and comes up with a clause about girls being forbidden to poach other gal's men.
Cat goes to the jail to taunt Rafa, telling him she's taken over his place at the petrolero and the hacienda. She tells him even his prostitute was making him look ridiculous. At this point, he tries to choke her.
Cat's sleazy lawyers tell her she has a perfect excuse to revoke the power of attorney since Rafa is in jail and unable to manage her affairs for her. I can't believe she hired those same two scumbags again. I'd have taken the train to the capital and gotten a pair of REAL sharks to represent me.
Roberto Manrique (I think that's his name) is quite impressive as Sacramento, the self-effacing man who adores Flor. And he's great with the sisters too.
And there was one incongruous thing that happened. Manuela goes to confession and tells the priest she has sexual feelings and wants to become a P. Say what? This is pretty dumb.
Gonzaki's redemption
maybe I didn't use the right word, I meant changing his direction and not going on his revenge plan up to the end. I meant an Inaki-opposing decision somewhere and for some reason... and that's all.
According to Wikipedia, this novela is going to end on Nov. 18. It's hard to imagine how they can string this out for another month.
Anyway, in Wednesday's exciting episode, Lola reconciles with Rodrigo.
The police make the connection between the murder of the lawyer and Debora.
Debora hears about the murder of the lawyer on TV. She hits Felix over the head and she and Vicki escape from the house. No such luck for Soledad. Vicki leaves her the means to get herself unchained but Felix catches her before she can escape. Why didn't Debora just kill Felix? Well, we know why - because Soledad can't escape yet - but it was uncharacteristically tender hearted of Debora.
Through a series of flashbacks while driving, Debora decides that all her misfortunes are Lola's fault - no surprise there. She bids a tearful fairwell to her mother putting Vicki on a bus going south and heads back to Lola's house.
Angel is well aware that Debora will try and kill Lola. He shows up at Lola's house claiming that he saw Debora's car in the neighborhood.
While the police bustle about her house, Angel sweet talks Lola while Andres glowers. Earlier, Diana told Andres a lot about her past to which I didn't pay any attention. Camilo once again counsels Andres to go back to Lola.
That's what I recall.
Jean, thanks for the excellent summary. I really liked the scene between Debora and Vicki. First of all, they looked like a real mother and daughter, with similar eyes and skin tone. The actress playing Debora really affected me with her tough but sad countenance, saving her mother, but resolved that she had to finish what she started, no matter what the cost. Despite everything she's done, I have a little sympathy for her.
But not for Angel. His playing the kind, supportive friend, while killing and stabbing people in the back, is odious to me. Why is it that no one has even been able to guess the connection he had with Tiberio, or that he has with Felix, and Debora? The police said Debora's new accomplice must be "younger". Don't know how they figured that out, but no one suspects Angel at all (except Andres, a little, but of course everyone just thinks he's jealous).
Someone (Camilo?) remarked that it was strange that both Diana and Angel were in the same restaurant with their respective "conquests", but no one took it further. Of course, we still don't know if Angel and Diana are connected.
Diana is such a liar. She says she doesn't know how to have a serious relationship, she's still "scarred" from being abused, so she just wants to be friends, and "explore" a relationship with Andres. Then she kisses him! If I were he, I'd lay down the law. No more kissing, or you're out of the company. It's very inappropriate. She's playing Andres like a fiddle. If one tack doesn't work, she tries another.
And he keeps weakening.
Another crazy episode. Ricardo Merino warns Pilar not to make a sound, or else. He has a knife. They hear a sound. It's Adolfo/Ismael, downstairs, playfully smashing a vase. Ricardo goes down, they struggle, the knife comes free, Adolfo gets it, slashes Ricardo's arm, and they both run off. Karen sees them both.
The police are called, they figure Javier must be at Ricardo's old house, which he is, and they rescue him. He cries like a baby, but later brags to all about how macho he was. Renato calls Javier and Gonzalo into his office to discuss strategy. First, Javier is back on the legal team (Gonzalo's p-oed). Second, both should try to save the house.
Meanwhile, Rebeca and Pilar are arranging to leave at 3:00 sharp. Pilar packs up the kids' stuff, doesn't tell them anything except to get in the car. They're not too happy about this. They also blow the whistle on Nibaldo, informing Yolanda he's been seen several times in their house (this could be a problem in her finishing her 5 "steps" of recovery, as she was only on step 3 :)
Rebeca sensed how Gonzalo wasn't too keen that she accompany them to Madrid (that's where they're going, Gonzo ordered tickets). She confronts Gonzo, but instead of giving a calm explanation, he's very combative, argumentative, won't tell her anything, insults her, and she now doesn't trust him.
Ignacia overhead their argument, and confronts Gonzalo about this, and about the Madrid tickets. He says the argument was because Rebeca has been stealing from Don Renato (!!!), and as to the tickets, well, he only answers one thing at a time. BTW, don't tell Renato. Ignacia 1) totally believes him 2) immediately tells Renato that Rebeca has been robbing him, just as Adolfo did! This is totally untrue, and Renato's doubtful, but I think this lie will live, and cause major problems.
Sebastian confronts Gonzalo, isn't happy that a married man is going with his beloved Pilar, but Gonzalo forcefully blows him off, and I'm thinking Sebastian is just asking for trouble.
Rebeca wants to meet Pilar at three, but first she has to go back to the safe deposit box, per Adolfo's instructions. Red-tipped fingernails trembling, she slowly opens the box to find the complete photo of the Mora brothers in Hialeah. The one on the left, Inaki, is definitely Gonzalo!!!!
Tonight should be a big confrontation between Rebeca and Gonzalo. I'm thinking, if something happens to her, Gonzo could just say she disappeared with Renato's money!
tnx Hombre
Sebastian isn't happy that a married man is going with his beloved Pilar
I guess he is happy about it! at least he has a hope now! :-)
will Gonzo kill Rebeca? or will hold her prisoner in that basement? maybe they are going to use the same idea of "Alguien..." again.
...and another terrific recap!
I couldn't stop giggling at the three -- count 'em three -- unauthorized visitors in the Ruiz house -- Nibaldo hiding in bed with Karen, Ricardo holding Pilar captive upstairs, and Ismael smashing crystal balls (!) in the living room. That house is more permeable than a grass and mud hut.
Later, Gonzalo the Good suggests putting new locks on all the windows and doors. Hah! Finally! (A day late and a dollar short you say ... well it may be the eve of Pilar & co.'s departure for Madrid but anyone who believes they will make it to España, raise your hand.)
Yeah, Sebastián is getting into some deep doodoo. Well, he's kind of a twit. We won't miss him nearly as much as we would miss Rebeca if what we expect to happen happens. Good guess about how Iñaki might explain Rebeca's absense, Hombre.
It's interesting that Renato has reconsidered his options and now has decided he's not giving up without a fight. We viewers would hate to lose the Conde house at this point. As NJ Sue pointed out early on, the house is like a character in the story.
Great recaps - thank you. Great guess Hombre!!!!
Corazon
What's the matter with the new girl that nobody likes her, why isn't Andres dropping at his feet? Is she dressed normally? AnHell has no chemistry at all, he was around Tiberio all his life, why didn't he learn a thing or two.
No doubt about it Debora has been consistently outstanding in this.
Thanks, Hombre. Yes, the scene between Debora and Vicki was well done. Each of them knew that they would probably never see the other again but kept up the fiction of meeting in Acapulco or something. I wonder if Debora will call Vicki on the phone she left with her - a last goodbye maybe?
Good one Nellie: "AnHell".
:o)
I agree that the goodbye scene between Vicky and Deborah was heart-wrenching.
We know that Deborah is evil, and yet in that scene we saw a glimpse of her as the vulnerable little girl she used to be. Ana L and Katy Barieri are both top actresses in my book.

Sorry if I'm jumping the gun here only managed to see 3 minutes last night when Gonzalo returned to the house. I have assumed that Hombre was 100% correct?
Angel stays all night at Lola's house to help protect her from Debora. Andres is disgusted and leaves.
Debora gets into the Exportex office. She calls Lola and uses Lola's concern for Soledad to get Lola to come there. Lola sneaks out of the house and tries to call Andres but he won't take her call.
Andres goes to Exportex on his own, I think. (I wasn't paying that close attention) and finds Debora there. She pulls a gun on him. Eventually, Lola shows up and now Debora has both of them. Debora does her, "Why couldn't you love me?" jag and is pretty incoherent. The police are on the way to Exportex, too.
Debora is about to tell Lola and Andres about Angel when Diana shoots her twice. I didn't expect that!!
Debora is rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Diana seems to be very upset about what happened and seeks Andres for comfort. Lola, on the other hand, saw enjoyment on Diana's face when she shot Debora. She also doesn't believe that Diana needed to shoot Debora twice. General opinion is on Diana's side so it might have been wiser for Lola to keep these suspicions to herself but of course she doesn't and everyone attributes her callousness towards Diana as the product of jealousy.
No proof yet but it seems pretty clear that Diana and Angel are in cahoots. There are no coincidences on novelas so if Diana shoots Debora as she was about to reveal Angel's true identity, it was because they are working together.
Meanwhile Vicki is broke on her bus going south. She picks up a guy on the bus and gets him to buy her breakfast. When she learns from the TV on the bus that Debora has been shot, she steals the guy's wallet and lets herself be picked up by truck driver heading back to LA. Of course, she only needs to make one phone call to the police in LA to reveal Angel's identity and Soledad's location but naturally she won't do that.
Adelita rejected even friendship from Daniel.
That was about it, I think.
Thanks, Jean, excellent summary. You noted just the things I was thinking, such as Diana just has to be working with Angel (or at least Felix), and Vicki could easily call the cops and reveal Angel's identity (which would help protect Debora, wouldn't it?), but won't. Diana wants to hang around the hospital, as does Angel, to see if Debora dies, or to silence her themselves if necessary, I think.
Lola's not the only one who thinks Diana's behavior is suspicious. Rodrigo does, too, but he doesn't have anything to go on. Diana will have to answer a lot of questions at the station, but I doubt they'll get anywhere with her. Isn't it something how both Angel (with Tiberio) and Diana (with Debora) both shot twice, both times Lola was watching, both times she wasn't convinced the second shot was necessary. Maybe she'll remember this, and not trust Angel so much. Yeah, right.
Vicky was so funny using her sex appeal to charm that trucker. The rest of the show is getting me down with all the mirror images of Lola/Angel and Andres/Diana, everything going wrong. But Vicki's scenes are always amusing.
Now that Rebeca knows Gonzalo is Iñaki, she has to do something about it. I'm not sure exactly where she is (outside the bank?) but he's right there, and after she won't be convinced she's wrong, he jams a gun into her gut, telling her to get in the car. Her phone rings (Pilar), he tosses it into the bushes, she elbows him, and flees. She takes off her high heels to run faster. It doesn't work. We later see her, bound, gagged and barefoot, on the floor of the basement in Gonzaki's "new house". At least she's not dead.
As I feared, Gonzalo confirms with Renato that the reason why Rebeca isn't answering his calls, is that she's been "systematically stealing" his money. Javier also hears about this, and by the end of the episode, everyone "knows", even the kids. Hmmm.
Karen's had enough of Nibaldo (especially after Yolanda slaps her), and orders Nibaldo to "get out". Poor Nibaldo.
Pilar can't understand why Rebeca isn't there, when Gonzalo shows up and gives the robbing story. Meanwhile, Sebastian sees Javier at the bufete (law office) and says "Gee, you sure don't look upset, considering your wife is leaving the country, with your children.....(he pauses) with Gonzalo Ibañez! Javier proceeds to explode internally, and zooms home.
He finds Gonzalo and Pilar ready to leave, the suitcases packed, and proceeds to humiliate Pilar again with his trademark sarcasm. He orders Gonzo and Sebastian (who also was there) to leave before he counts to three. He locks Pilar in the bedroom (NOW they have locks!) and orders the kids not to talk to her.
Omar wakes up, Carola is there, and he tells her there was no robbery, it was an attack, and it was meant for Sebastian. Carola is shocked, tells Sebastian, but no one realizes who ordered it yet.
Pilar and the kids escape, go to Gonzalo's apartment, and everyone except Diego has to leave to go somewhere (I forgot), so Pilar hires Hilda to babysit Diego in Gonzalo's apartment. Here's my next wacky prediction. Hilda will somehow be a big hero at the end.
Carola didn't have time to find her adoptive Mom, but Emilio goes, and the woman had Carola at 16, she was the product of a gang rape, she has no idea who the father was. Will Emilio tell Carola the truth, or shield her "downtrodden" origin from her?
We then see Ignacia, in her workshop, letting in Adolfo, they kiss deeply, and she says "Finally. It's going just as we planned." Either this is a dream, or I'm going crazy!!!!!!!
Thanks, Hombre -- great job!
What a shock at the end -- Ignacia and Ismael working together???? I never saw that one coming (Unless, of course, it's another fake-out, a dream, as you suspect)
Gonzo was pretty sloppy. The incriminating photo was left on the floor in the bank and found by the bank attendant. Plus someone from the bank watched Rebeca's and Iñaki's "lovers' quarrel" on the sidewalk outside.
"Poor Nibaldo" my eye! This guy deserves his bad luck!
Now that Emilio has revealed Carola's identity to her birth mother and told her that their adoptive father is an "entrepreneur", this clearly hard-up woman is likely going to try to make a profit on the deal. She has no idea what a treacherous situation she's about to step into.
And yes, at least Rebeca is alive. For now.
And let's not overlook the wonderful moment when Diego stands up to Javier, hitting him where it hurts, rescuing his mother from the room where she is being held captive, and leaving the big bully on the floor, clutching his groin in agony.
I played catch-up last night and watched two Flors. I am still finding this novela engrossing.
Sacramento is told he's very probably Raimundo's son. Don Rai tells him that Sacto looks just like him as a young man and also resembles many family photos. Sacto is not happy. "Why did you tell me?" Sacto doesn't want anyone else to know. I've seen this development in other novelas, and it still makes no sense. The adult child is angry at the newly discovered father, who never knew he'd gotten anyone pregnant at all.
Lourdes is apparently turned on by Mariano's bold move in imprisoning Rafael Urrieta. She's all over him and tells him he's very macho.
Lourdes goes to the jail to taunt Rafa. (Everyone in the novela appears in front of his cell sooner or later.) He tells her that Mariano is being so diligent in his cop duties because Cat is bedding him to inspire him. Lourdes looks VERY unhappy.
Ana is determined to begin her career as a prostitute. When her sister tries to talk her out of it, she throws her mistakes with Pablo up in her face and says SHE'LL never be a fool for love.
Piru offers Correcaminos big bucks for the portrait Enrique painted of her. Tío Pancho wants all of his nephew's paintings.
Zahra and Flor decide that Ana is better off in Nueva Esperanza hooking because she could end up in a dangerous situation elsewhere.
José María and Sacto talk about their possibly being brothers. José María is having a hard time with it, but he doesn't blame Sacto.
Rafa's lawyer has gone to meet with the Governor to remind him of all Rafa's campaign contributions.
Mariano decides to be away from the office so he won't get the call from the Gov. When Mariano gets ready to go to Cat's hacienda, Lourdes confronts him about having changed clothes, even his undies. She tells him he better be careful and grabs hold of the family jewels.
José María is ready to leave town because he has no patients. He tries to get Rocío to have an exam, but because of her feelings for him she's uncomfortable. But later she talks the P's into getting exams.
At the hacienda, Mariano tells Cat he threatened to throw the lawyers out of Timotes if they didn't do Cat's legal work properly. He's all ready to make his move on Cat to be repaid, when Sacto shows up.
Amanda has agreed to leave with Sacto, but he wants them to marry first.
I'm not liking Sacramento insisting on marrying before he, Flor, Susana, and Beba leave Nueva Esperanza. Flor tells him she won't cumplir como esposa. No sex, Sacto! AND, to top it off, he's not satisfied with a civil ceremony. He wants a church wedding.
Malicia is so unhappy watching Enrique bed other P's that she quits her job. I wonder. Do you write a letter of resignation when you leave a brothel?
Enrique sees his Tío Pancho at a table with Zahra, looking bedazzled by her. He pulls him aside and says he thought these women were beneath a Lozada.
Piru (whom I despise at this point) tells Zahra not to worry about Malicia. He has her under control. This is love?
Enrique has a heated conversation with his tío. He tells him he doesn't want a dual morality in his life like his tío's. In the capital his uncle is the most moral man around, but here in Nueva Esperanza he's the same as the rest of the drunks looking for sex.
We see Ana's initiation dance. She's taken the nickname of Anaconda. She's using a funny malapropism. She says her snake image is a metastasis when she means a metaphor. She dances with an Anaconda snake, made up so you can hardly recognize her and with false eyelashes about 2 inches long!
Mariano is all over Ana and says he'll pay for her night of initiation.
Piru is trying to make love to Alicia, who has her back to him and looks disgusted when Enrique enters unexpectedly. He wonders how he could have been so stupid and says she'll never see him again.
Zahra tries to talk Ana out of the night with Mariano. She tells her the guy murdered her brother and was responsible for the death of her mother. Ana says no one else offered and she has to do it. Besides EVERYONE wanted her sister when she had her initiation and she can't bear to have no offers.
Mariano is as repulsive and sick as ever. Ana and he are, I believe, in Flor's old house before she moved to Zahra's. He gets all interested that they'll be doing the deed in the same bed as Flor and Rafa used. He says it represents a change of power. He begins to choke her and have very rough sex with her.
Tío Pancho tells Zahra that she's the first woman he's been with since his wife died three years ago. We don't see anything but apparently they do make love.
Ana is sobbing, very upset. She only wants to forget. But she stubbornly insists she was right in doing it. She says she did the worst thing possible to show that she's stronger than Flor.
Sacto is grinning like a fool. He's arranged with Padre Alfonso to have Flor receive baptism, first communion, confirmation, and holy matrimony in the same ceremony!
The lawyers have given Cat the revocation of power of attorney, signed by a judge.
Luisa discovers the wedding plans and tells Cat. She arrives at the church and sees the ceremony beginning and is in tears. I think this wedding is a bad idea. Sacto is convinced she'll fall in love with him.
Thank you for the great recap. I did see the shooting, I thought for a minute there that on the second shot she was actually trying to shoot Lola but it seemed Deborah flinched and got shot in the neck. Missed the rest, hopefully will watch it on computer.
La Casa
Wow, I definitely taped this on DVR, can't wait to see it tonight. Diego hitting a bullseye - what a treasure.
You guys have made this so interesting, I think TELEMUNDO should praise this site.
One is tempted to say that Ana got what she deserved but maybe she was lucky that Mariano didn't kill her.
What is really amazing was her makeup and that snake. Who is doing the costumes and makeup for all these performances? Olga? Pirruetas? Is there some back room operation we don't know about in the Calle de Consuelos?
I'm interested to see what happens when Rafa finally gets out of jail.
Nellie: I agree. Debora's second shot nearly hit Lola. I didn't think that it might have been aimed at her. It makes sense - get rid of her two rivals at once - and then claim it was a terrible accident and that she was trying to save them both.
I said I didn't like Sacramento pushing to marry Flor, but I'd like to amplify my feelings about that.
Sacramento has been pretty saintly thus far and at times self-righteous. He was very unpleasant with her when she decided to become Rafa's woman for her sisters' sake.
There is no reason they can't just leave Nueva Esperanza without being married. She thinks of him as a brother anyway.
But no, he is taking advantage of the fact that she's numb with grief and in danger from Urrieta to nail down a commitment from her. Not fair play and not worthy of him.
hmm... now Rebeca is Gonzaki's prisoner. a unique opportuinity to create new interesting scenes...(pic)
I wonder why didn't he kill her? since she may put him in big trouble.
novelera, I think so too. Rebeca is going to survive. and now that she knows the fact about Gonzaki, and since she's not killed by him, I wonder how he will treat to her. what if he talks about his murders to his "amiga"? there could be interesting conversations between them! lol
Novelera, I agree with you about Sacramento and really to me looking like a fool all giddy and smiling at the alter when you consider what's happened. I mean, Amanda did hear a gunshot to Pablo's head at point blank range not even 10 ft away. Can't see this girl even functioning yet, pero buenoooo
The scene of Ana's initiation with Mariano...wow! This dude is further off than I thought. Some serious evil in this guy and then he just turns it off and delicately explains to her the technique...and then changes roles again!
Got a feeling Cat is gonna end up experiencing the bad side of this guy too....The actor is perfect for this character, really good.

I just checked the Delicious feed and got the same thing you did. The Blogger link is working, though, and should let you access our page. Also, you should be able to see the new page on the CarayCaray blog itself.
For some reason, I am no longer able to tag my posts on the new Delicious system. I'll ask Jean if she can tag it for us tomorrow.
Sorry:(
