La Fuerza del Destino #41 Mon 10/03/11 Busted and Then Snake-Bit!

All Hell is breaking lose on the promenade of Huatabampo as Ivan runs after Alex who is screaming in terror not to be kidnapped.  Carolina asks Antolin not to let Ivan and Camilo take Alex away from her.  In the confusion, Cam sees Anto come to the rescue and they verbally butt heads.  The townspeople are ready to hang Ivan by his feet, thinking that he and Cam are a couple of pervy kidnappers.  Chaos reigns till Agente Farias shoots a bullet into the air and hauls everyone off to the police station to take their statements and press charges.

At the police station, group-think takes over as nobody is ready to go to jail and cause a bigger stink than they already have. Everyone gets on the Big Mistake bandwagon, claiming that they are all family friends. Anto explains that he and his girlfriend, Caro, on a whim decided to take Alex to the beach since he’d never seen the ocean before.  She didn’t bother to call her BIL since he was off on a construction job.  Ivan offers to call Gerry for Alex, but the officer wants Alex to dial the number himself.  Gerardo gets upset and asks to speak to the officer.  He tells the policeman that he sent Ivan up to check on them because his SIL is sightless [invedente].  Why, wonders the cop.  She was here with her boyfriend.  Who?  An Antolin Galvan.  “--Oh!  Sure!  I know him.  Look we’re decent people and there’s been no crime.”  Ok, says the cop.  Farias lets them all go, but tells Ivan and Cam they’ve got to put their fingerprints and personal info on file.  Ivan, it is safe to say, is not a happy camper.

Lucy gets a call from Ivan that all’s well that ends well, and they’ll be back the next day.

Ivan lights into Anto for absconding with Caro.  He says for all he knew she was having “problems” with Gerry and didn’t think there’d be any harm in it.  She talked him into it.  Ivan asks if she told him at first that Alex was his son.  No, says Anto, that came later, once they arrived.  He insisted and she finally spilled the beans.  She thought Ivan wanted to take him away from her.  Ivan is muy irritated and tells Anto that he wanted to share the boy, not snatch him away from the only family he’s known!  For the good of his son!  Now his son’s scared sh!tless of him!!  So where did he get this crazy idea Ivan was going to kidnap him, anyway?  Cam suggests it was her feeding Alex ideas.  So just in case, they’d better watch that she doesn’t do something that crazy again.  Anto goes off on Cam for calling Caro crazy.  “—What else would you call what she did?”

Anto takes Caro and Alex home.  Ivan calls Tony to let him know what’s up and that the boy is frightened of him.  Tony says he’ll have to win him over again with love and patience and Lucia’s help.  That’s going to be difficult since he broke up with her, he tells Tony.   Tony’s sure they’ll get over that hump.  Ivan doesn’t think so.  He told her so many ugly things that he’s not sure that they’ll ever get back together now.  Once again, Cam observes but says nothing, all the while keeping all his fingers and toes crossed that they don’t.

Later in the evening in Alamos Saul drops in on Maripaz’s hoe-down.

Back in Huatabampo,  Estela chews out Caro for putting ideas in Alex’s head How could she tell the boy such horrible things about his own daddy? Because it’s the truth, Carol replies.  But he is the boy’s father and sooner or later it had to happen. Estela puts it in black and white for her: the only thing she got by doing that was to make an enemy out of Ivan and his rich papa who surely now won’t let her visit his son.  Who’s she to say the boy wouldn’t be happier with his real father than with the two of them.  Caro is still hopeful that once Ivan gets married he will have other kids and won’t bother them for Alex any longer. (To call Caro bull-headed stubborn is an understatement at this point.) Alex is all she and Gerry have. Estela wouldn’t know because she’s never had kids!  “—Neither have you!  This child is only on loan!  [prestado].  Try to get back in Ivan’s good graces, she warns, so that at least he’ll let her see Alex from time to time!

In Alamos, the party’s over and but Saul leaves.  Merry Piece makes a silly remark about comparing her prowess in bed with Lucia’s.  No, he’s there to ask a favor, let him stay just a few days till he finds a job. Saul admits his Daddy cut him off financially--no credit cards, no car--and threw him out of the house. Merry Piece pretends she doesn’t want to let him stay.  Yes, Merry Piece has advanced to the sado-masochistic phase in her relationships and literally makes him fight for the chance to share her “only bed”. (Why does that not surprise us?) Guess Saul is up to the challenge since a Meandragon is always game when it comes to manhandling a female.

The next morning, David informs Anthony about having to give up his job with McGuire and Son to help run his father’s ranch now that Juan Jaime, has gotten sick.  Tony isn’t mad.  He tells Davy that family comes first and it is a good thing to help his father run things.  It will give him a chance to prove himself to his daddy.

Seaside, Anto wants Caro and Alex to head back to Alamos in his car.  Cam warns his brother not to try something and head off somewhere else with the two of them.

Inside, Anto tries to explain to Caro that Ivan never had thought to take Alex away from her, just to win him over little by little.  It amounts to the same thing as far as she’s concerned.  Anto tells Alex that Carolina made a mistake about Ivan wanting to kidnap him and she sullenly agrees.  Yeah, she got it all wrong.  Outside, Ivan tries to say “Hey” to Alex but he tells him to stay away from him and hides behind his defiant Tia Carolina.  Cam says it will be rough gaining back his trust, but he can do it.  The kid refuses to even look Van’s way.

Gerry calls Lucia to let her know the others are on their way back to Alamos and that Ivan needs her at the house when Alex comes back because Carolina’s frightened him against Ivan.

Across town, Saul takes breakfast to Merry Piece who says he’s not the only hunk she’s hunkered down with.  Saul says compared to her, Lucia’s a nun and Ivan probably has a beer paunch [gautón], truth be told.  Nope, he’s darn good in bed she says.  In fact she knows because they used to do the horizontal romp all the time back in the day.

Lucrecia, meanwhile, is on the phone with Celia trying to find Cam cuz he supposedly took a wad of cash from her a few days back and she hasn’t heard hide nor hair of him since!  Celia gives as good as she gets an explains Cam was in jail for a couple of days and then raced off with Ivan to get his son back, which, she sneers back, is much more important than any tiny little “ranchito”!!  Lucia grabs the phone and apologizes to Celia for her mother’s rudeness.  (Alright.)  He was out helping to find Teodoro’s great grandson, if you please, says Carlota.  The bum took thousands of pesos and never bothered to let them know, screams Lucrazy!!  Carly  screams back that the whole rancho and everything connected to it, including the money, is hers!!  “—So then pay me for all the years I spent running it for you!!”  Carly yells out of frustration to Lucia that she’s ready to lock her mother in a madhouse if she doesn’t end up killing her first.  Patience is at a premium right now for Carly.

Alex gets home and purposely shuns Ivan.  Lucia arrives and tells him she’s sorry for all the aggravation. He tells Lucia that he blames it all on her and then peels out in his SUV and heads back home.  Side-kick in waiting, Cam, is all too ready and willing to lend a strong shoulder for her to cry on.  Lucia tries to explain to him that Ivan’s right, but she couldn’t say anything and was waiting for her father to get up nerve enough.  Then Caro pressures him and botches it all.  They walk inside Gerry’s place together.

Carmen, meanwhile, wants to get her final licks in with Tony McGuire.  She takes the dog, Bruno, with her and lets him wander away outside the gate and tells him she hopes he gets run over.  Of course, Bruno does nearly get run over by a car first thing.

Cam gives Antolin grief about helping out Caro.  He plays innocent bystander.  Lucia makes sure that Alex still doesn’t know that Ivan’s his bio-daddy.   Gerry tells her it’s a waste trying to talk to the boy now and Caro is devasted by all that’s happened.  Anto apologizes and says he only thought about helping her out in a time of need.  Cam offers his help to Lucia and heads out with Anto.  Once they’re gone, Gerry complains to Lucia that Caro has ruined everything for all of them!

When Tony returns to the casota, he has the house in an uproar looking for Bruno.  Benito and he are certain it was Carmen who let him out purposely after the accountant was the last to see her when she came to pick up her severance check.  Ivan drives up and tells Tony Alex is back but things are looking pretty grim.  He drives off to look for Bruno.

Cam and Anto get back home just as Carmen is explaining why Sr. Anthony, the “cantankerous old man”, fired her again.  She asks Cam how it went.  Fine, he says, except your reckless older son was the one who took them!  “—Well how was I to know that Alex was Ivan’s son???  Carmen is like waddyamean Ivan’s son???  Celia screams over to her it’s just like she heard and she better forget she ever heard it cuz nobody but nobody needs to know!!  (Well, that almost assures us that blabbermouth Carmen will open her mouth at the most inopportune time to the most inopportune of recipients.)  Cam screams that now the kid’s frightened of Ivan all because Caro filled the kid up with a bunch of lies.  Anto starts screaming back that Caro had a right to do what she did because she’s been taking care of him for the last ten years!! Celia has to break it up.  How could Anto do that to Ivan, she asks.  He explains he had not idea he was Ivan’s son.  Rather than argue with her he decides to go home and hit the sack.  She chases Carmen and her big ears out of the room so she can get the details from Cam.  Came wonders why she’s not at work.  Carmen gripes about being fired again, and then storms out.

Meanwhile, Ivan goes searching for Bruno and stops at an open field outside town.  When he finds the dog on the other side of the copse of trees, there’s a rattlesnake ready to strike right in front of the dog.

Gerry gives Caro another scolding and blames her for causing all their problems now, including Lucia and Ivan breaking up.  He’s sure now that they’re going to take Alex away from them and even might report them both to the police for having kidnapped Alex when he was a baby ten years before!  He reminds her that he is the boy’s grandfather and that he always knew Ivan would probably return and he’d have to tell him.  Carolina insists he could never love Alex as much as she does.  She gripes back at Gerry for using her and her sister to keep the boy legitimately.  Alex is standing near his bedroom door and hears the screaming, including Caro’s insisting that Ivan doesn’t deserve to have him.  “—He’s a depraved man! [un depravado= a pervert]  First he goes to bed with Maripaz and now he’s involved with Lucia!  He doesn’t deserve my Alex!  Yes, my Alex!”  The two are shut-my-mouth impactado (finally!) when Alex walks out and matter-of-factly asks them both what depraved means.

Bruno barks for him to stay away from there, but Ivan, in one of those definitive “don’t try this at home” moments, tries to move the snake with a long broken tree branch.  He gets bitten for his efforts.

At the same time, Tony gives a PETA-worthy rundown to Benito about animals and how much smarter and finer they are than human-beings. (I love the heck out of pets too, but lets not go overboard, ya know?)  Benito smiles and nods but rolls his eyes once he’s out of eyesight. FF>>

At Casa de las Curiel, Carly worries aloud about the situation with Ivan and Alex, and especially that the problems between Lucia and Ivan get resolved.  As far as Lucrazia is concerned, it doesn’t matter if Lucia doesn’t marry him.  There’s always Maripaz.  Carly reminds her that he’s in love with Lucia, not MP and he will never marry Maripaz!  Pshaw!  What’s love got to do with it?  Anyway, Maripaz is Alex’s mother and she has rights too, says Lucrazy.  Oh, so then you want your grandson to end up in the hands of a drunken, brazen hussy [descocada]??? Lucrazy has to answer her cell so we are mercifully spared any more reality family t.v.

Cam’s on the phone explaining why he hasn’t been around recently and telling her he’s on his way back to El Socorro.  Arcelia hear’s him ask after Lucia. She asks Cam if he’s got a thing for Lucia now.  He tells his mom sure he “cares” about her since she’s his BFF’s girl friend.  Mama says he knows what she means.  Cam avoids answering and leaves for Tony’s.

Tony calls for Carmen and wants to know if she accidentally left the door open and let Bruno get out perhaps.  She lies and says of course not.  He tells her he doesn’t believe a word and that it was obviously her doing, then hangs up.  Celia wants to know what the phone call was all about.  Carmen smarts back that the old fart cares more about a lousy dog than an actual human-being!  [un cristiano]  Mama wants a real answer and throws her onto a kitchen chair and says she wants the truth, so spill it and fast!!

Tony gets a call for help from a very disoriented Ivan who manages to let them know he’s been bitten saving the dog, but can’t tell him where he is before conking out.

Celia reasons that Carmen did let the dog out and did it on purpose [adrede = deliberately].  She tells Carmen she can’t believe how mean she is and wonders where she got it from cuz her daddy was a terrific guy.  “—Perhaps from you, then, cuz Antolin isn’t exactly a peach, either!”  Well, with this shameful personality of hers, warns Celia, she’ll never be happy.

Benito gives Cam the 411 on Bruno and Ivan.  They head out together to track Ivan down somehow.

Lucia is driving for home and sees the dog on the side of the road.  She gets out of the car and Bruno finally gets his Lassie moment on screen.  He barks at her and races back through the trees where she follows and finds Ivan out cold.  She bends over him and he comes to briefly.  He tells her he called Tony to bring an ambulance.   So, rather than use her cell phone to let the others know that she found Ivan and where they are, she wastes valuable minutes weeping over him, telling him that he’s still the love of her life and that he mustn’t die.    Lucky for Ivan that the others recognized his truck and got out to start looking for him right then and there.

Jardinera, great recap. I loved the "Maripaz's hoe-down" but I think I would have spelled it ho-down.

Princesa Caro is blind in more way than one. She acts like she is still 12 years old. I am surprised she hasn't started stomping her feet and holding her breath until she turns blue. If she thinks Ivan is perverse, I guess she doesn't know Gerry's past history.

How can Celia have three such rotten kids? I think Carmen is the worst of the lot. That girl is in for a lot of trouble if she doesn't change her attitude.

The Ivan snakebite thing wasn't even realistic. He could have walked out of there with Bruno in tow and driven himself to the nearest hospital.

Rosemary

So in case there is any questions, what you should do when you see a rattlesnake is NOT poke it with a stick. That just makes a naturally pissy animal extra mad. Back away and go around. If there are others in the grass, they will warn you in a creepy but effective way. No poking.

And if you do get bitten, no sucking the venom out and no tourniquets. Also, use the cell phone to call an ambulance, not someone with no medical training and no idea where you are. They need to stop pushing Herdez and start promoting whatever Mexico's version of 911 is, because no one seems to know how to handle these emergencies. At least when maids have to, they get hysterical and scream to draw attention. That's still better than crying quietly.

Also, Bruno seems pretty well trained to have run away. He should have just bit Carmen and then gone back home. Good doggie!

Lots of dumb things in this episode.

I just knew Carmen was going to let the dog run away, not only is she most most annoying character, I now think she is the worst.

Yes, I think the best thing is to let a rattling alone, walk around & call Bruno away from it. I don't think you pass out from a snake bite until you are ready to die. Good grief, Lucia, while you are busy sobbing, he actually could die. Wonder if that was a snake from STuD, is he a member of SAG?

Carloina, not much left to say.

That was Variopinta

rattling (snake)

Thanks, Jardinera. A very enjoyable recap.

The screaming that both Carlota and Anthony do, with their faces reddening, can't be good for the characters or the actors. Wow!

I got a kick out of Saul's pec-flexing as he brought the coffee and juice to Merry Piece's bed. I think the actor is actually doing a good job with a miserable character.

Snake-bite. Please. I like that this novela has avoided some of the cliches of many novelas and that secrets are not held for long. A snake-bite takes us back to the beanie-tightening condition.

I had to rerun the part where Ivan tells Lucia that the mess with Alex is her fault. What an ass he is turning out to be! I know that all will be fixed by the end, but is real life one would perhaps want to steer clear of someone with such anger issues.

OH I have been waiting for this recap.

Yes, this episode was chock full of dumb stuff and I loved every freaking minute of it (bad day at work, I needed the escape.)

Jardinera--thank you for the bound to be classic "hoe-down". No matter how you spell it, it was inspired. I was reminded of Skank-ho and Snidely Whiplash. Ew.

Carmen is trash and heartless.

Kelly--hysterical commentary!

Vario--I'm also laughing over "is he a member of SAG?" I had the same thought about STuD.

Have a great Saturday all!

Traveling Lady--I keep waiting for Carly or Anothony to die. They really are spending more and more time being apoplectic. Anthony especially needs to be careful.

Thanks for the recap Jardinera. That MP is quite the ho. Though things didn't work with David, she's basically slept with all the Mondragón boys. Ewww.

Yes Ivan does have anger issues but Lucia, as someone mentioned earlier in the week, needs to own up about her crazy family. She kept lying to Ivan about things that did not include her family lies.

And as much as I'm beyond vexed with Caro (she asked Gerry to run away again after they got home; why is she so crazy? I hope they lock her up.), Gerry is to blame. Ivan had asked him several times if Alex was his son and he lied. He also saw Caro escalating crazy. Now that she made good on her rants and kidnapped Alex (she only came back home b/c they got caught as she told Gerry he wouldn't see Alex again), he needs to make sure she doesn't try this again and if that means separating her from Alex, all the better.

Many thanks Jardinera! This was wonderful.

I could not believe Ivan let himself get bitten by a snake. Perhaps his grief over Alex clouded his judgement? That's the only reason I can think of.

The whole situation with Alex was very upsetting, and I felt for both him and Ivan in those scenes. Caro should be ashamed of herself, but she refuses to admit she's in the wrong. I'm glad no one agrees with her, but the damage is done.

Traveling Lady- I think Ivan being such an ass will do exactly what you hope- send Lucia running away from him (and into Camilo's arms). I think it will be one of the hard lessons he will have to learn. Just like Lucia is learning a hard lesson about keeping secrets from her boyfriend/fiance.

I thought Saul (Ferdinando) was hilarious in the towel scene making his pecs dance. He and MP make total sense together, but I am sure they will band together to try to separate Lucia and Ivan so that they can get a hold of them. I don't see either of them being very successful at it, but it won't stop them from trying.

I have been wondering about the Galvan kids too. Indeed, did Celia just have bad luck raising a jackal (Anto), a viper (Carmen) and a weasel (Camilo)? It doesn't look like she or her husband gave them a bad example. Celia is loyal to friends and family, moral, has a firm hand when her kids do something wrong, and praises them when they do something right. What went wrong?

The smartest people in this TN, aside from Tony, Bruno, Carlota, I think is Antolín. He's a bad boy with a heart, that's it, ran out of smart people, maybe Carolina's aunt .
Variopinta

What a shame that a novela, an original I think, falls apart so fast with the usual cliches. I think it was Jarocha that warned us. I really had hopes for this one since it started out so good.
Guess all writers run into writers block.
Where is Jarocha, I don't think she's been around lately & I miss her comments.
Variopinta

Well, at least we're almost half way through, and they still have a lot of ground to cover before there can be any happily ever afters. Hopefully, they won't throw too many beanie moments at us like the snake.

Even if it continues down the same road, at least it is a short one. We won't be subjected to 176 episodes of it a la TdA.

Hopefully they wont have stupid fillers to this one.

Variopinta

What can I say? Smart people? Definitely Estela. Love her earthy behavior and common sense! Tony, too. The only two people I have total respect for. Dunno why.

Cleto and Rosa (is that her name?) are pretty smart. Though they lose a few points for sticking around with Lucrezia...but I guess it's loyalty to Carlota.

Jardinera, a great recap, as usual.

That Carolina, I could keep hitting her with a broom until she is mush!!! How in the hell can she justify what she did!!! Like Rosemary said, she acts like she is twelve. What does Antolin see in her; she's so stupid!!!

And Carmen is another one. what a mean b!tch!!! Her poor child, it's a good she is with her grandmother. I think the child is smarter than the mother.

Ann-NYC

Doesn't anyone else think Lucrezia is going through "the change?" She keeps fanning herself all the time. Maybe that explains her craziness... :)

Yeah - I got a huge kick out of the pec-flexing too, as Saul asked for feedback on his "performance" - LOL! That Maripaz didn't even remember? LOL!

Wow - the guy even brings her breakfast in bed? With the tease of sticking his leg out of the towel to poke at the bedcovers (except that we could see he was wearing light gray underwear - they almost pulled it off!). Funny - and very unlike the lazy, sulky Saul we have known to date.

But I'm not sure Saul appreciated knowing that Maripaz had always been "rolling around with" Ivan during her teens. It looked like he might have regretted his sleepover.

Audrey

I also thought MP and Saul perfect for each other. They are both so lazy and stupid!!!

This TN keeps totally surprising me with its plot twists. I expected the Caro kidnapping to be drug out forever, not resolved so lightning fast. There have been many surprises. I keep expecting clichéd turns of plot, but they keep surprising me. Kudos to the writers.

How long is this TN anyway?

Audrey

Just caught up with this one. Good work, Jardinera.

If I could I would throw Carmen to the floor and stomp and kick her with my flamenco shoes on. Although I don't know why Bruno didn't bark up a storm as soon as she started dragging him out of the house. He didn't like Camilo, whom I don't think would ever do anything that base. Bruno should have really sounded off.

Which would not have led to a scene of Lucia rescuing Ivan at the last possible minute.

I wonder whether the day will come when Merry Piece is tired enough of Saul to tell him that Ivan is not only better in bed but is better equipped for it...

Saul certainly looked out of place at MP's ho-down. Those plaid shirts are a real anti-aphrodisiac.

Alas, he and Merry Piece will probably team up to break up Ivan and Lucia in the next round.

Lucia has her work cut out for her with Alex's current mental state. I agree that she does need to own up to the family craziness and drag both her mother and her sister to the manicomio.

Audrey, it's only 101 capitulos. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I am too actually, although I was critical of the whole snake thing. I do like that it's an original story, not a remake. I also like the galan trying to find and connect with his child storyline. The fact that both the galan and heroine have a lot of growing and learning to do before the end, is to be expected. I would have liked more heat between Lucia and Ivan, but I feel some of that may have to do with the fact that they both need to mature and grow before they can have a real relationship with each other.

It's interesting that the biggest villain is turning out to be Carolina, and not JJ or Lucrezia. In fact, both of those two "villains" are showing some real vulnerabilities lately. Lucrezia breaking down in tears because Carly hasn't hugged or kissed her in ages, and JJ fainting and weak and having to hand control of his ranch to David. Ivan, I think, will have to eventually show mercy and sympathy towards the people he hates (JJ and Lucrezia), and learn to not be so judgemental towards the people he loves.

Heartfelt thanks to each recapper for lots of laughs along with some excellent summaries. I'm only halfway following this one-- I like Carlota, Tony, Bruno, and Anto lots, feel lukewarm toward our romantic leads, hate JJ, Lucrazy, Saul, Gordo, Carmen. I feel Caro's pain, but despise her way of handling Alex' situation.
Snake was total cliche--SAG member comment, yes! Je je.

Secrets that still need to get out:
1) Ivan needs to learn the real circumstances behind Camilo and Antolin encouraging him to disappear to the US (including the money from Gerry that Anto stole)
2) The Galvan boys need to find out that Saul is Lechita's dad.
3) MP needs to find out Alex is her child.
4) Alex needs to find out about his real parentage (and grand-parentage).

ALL of the others secrets have been revealed to the relevant parties, meaning this tn has breezed through the revelations pretty quickly.

Karen it was my observation also that MP has been with Ivan, almost with David, then Saul. She has also flirted with both Anto and Cam. Cochina prostiputa ramera, she at least is family oriented in the sense of wanting to do the brothers Modragon and Galvan.

I am amused at how Carmen is described by her family, pretty face and snobby. She most definitely is snobby but not too pretty in the face, and not smart at all. She is still clueless as to what she is doing to get fired.

The snakebite was totally pointless IMHO, but Monday may change my mind depending on what the writers decide to do.

Lock Caro up, can't stand her whining...

No show on Monday. It's the two hour finale of Teresa.

Nobody will benefit from MP knowing that Alex is her son. The only thing she will are about is blackmailing money out of Tony or finding a way to blackmail sex out of Ivan.

Which she will not get.

If Camilo and Antolin ever find out Saul is the pendejo who knocked up their sister he will be singing soprano.

Ruby: ITA! Funny!

UrbanA: Saul singing soprano is must see t.v.!

Jardinera, very witty and descriptive. Thanks mucho. Funny, I thought EXACTLY the same thing as Rosemary as I was reading..."don't you mean HO-down?"

First time I kinda sorta liked Saul a little bit, but I think it was mostly because he was reminding me of other more charming roles the actor has played. He might have been almost attractive if not for the mustache. Too funny that he didn't get the rave review he was asking for.

Snakebite was RIDICULOUS. I really doubt a bite from a rattlesnake that big and old would be fatal at all, and Ivan totally could have driven himself a few miles to the hospital or at least walked up to the road to flag someone down. Did he not tell Toni where he was? Why was he just lying there until dark? What a drama king. And after Maripaz just reminded us what a manly man he is (lest we forget that our galán is such a stud).

I don't think it's going to be long before Maripaz finds out about Alex, and then it's going to be horrible for everyone, especially poor Alex. Maripaz will turn her motherhood priority rights to max advantage - demanding that Ivan marry her, or who knows what!

Saul now knows that Maripaz had a kid with Ivan.

Carmen now knows that Alex is Maripaz's kid by Ivan.

All it will take is Carmen telling Saul about Alex, and Saul will tell Maripaz that Alex is her kid, and then all hell will break loose!

Not looking forward to selfish, heartless, thoughtless, unmotherly Maripaz getting the upper hand here! Yuck!

Audrey

If Ivan wants any legal parental rights to Alex he has to tell MP about him. I think that's basically what the lawyer told him. The mother gets first rights, and only after MP has decided what she wants to do about custody, can Ivan fight for any rights. That really sucks for him and Alex. I agree, it will not be pretty whenever MP finds out.

Thanks for the episode numbers Vivi! So, we are about half way through. I have had pretty mixed feelings (sentimientos encontrados) about this TN. It seems very predictable and to fall into long drawn out cliches at times. And I am rquite underwhelmed by our protagonista pair. But then again, the show often surprises me - especially lately - and I have really been enjoying the supporting characters.

Audrey

What do I do if I do get bitten by a rattlesnake? Or if my child does? Or my dog does?

Do not panic. First, take a deep breath. Let your adrenaline rush subside a little before you act. A rattlesnake bite will leave two well-defined puncture marks and there will be an immediate, lasting pain. If you are unsure if the snake is a poisonous species, treat it as a medical emergency anyway.

If you have been bitten by a rattlesnake, it is important to get help as soon as possible. Call 911 for medical assistance. The best treatment for a rattlesnake bite is to seek medical treatment immediately. Get to a hospital emergency room as soon as possible. If someone else has been bitten, keep that person calm and transport them to the hospital immediately. Call 911 if the medical condition of the person is severe. Don't chase the snake. The antivenin treatment for a rattlesnake bite does not require knowing what species of rattlesnake it is. In the southern California area, the only poisonous snakes are rattlesnakes. Therefore, the emergency medical staff should be able to identify the characteristics of a bite without knowing exactly what kind of snake it is.

We repeat: GET HELP.

Do not apply a tight, constricting tourniquet.

Do not cut the bite area.

Do not ice the bite area.

Do not attempt to suck out the venom with your mouth.

Do not give alcohol to the bitten person.

Seek medical attention immediately. Visit the California Poison Control Center at San Diego's UCSD Medical Center for further information.

This will help you guys if you ever find yourself in a situation like this.

BTW For some reason, I'm very fascinated by Maripaz. I like Lucia a lot. Beginning to like Judith but cannot stand Carmen at all.

Ibarramedia

Thanks Ibarramedia! If I ever get bitten by a snake I will know what to do. :) Lucia did do one thing right when she got to Ivan. She immediately removed the tourniquet and told him that's a no-no. She then nullified that by crying hysterically and not calling for an ambulance.

Thanks also for your manly point of view on the ladies. So MP interests you, huh? I’m worried about you Ibarramedia.

The question is whether or not Ibarramedia is fascinated by Maripaz because she's beautiful or because she's damaged goods of a fairly high order. :) That said, between her, Lucrezia, Carmen and Carolina we've certainly got the makings for The Real Housewives of Alamos up in this show...

In view of the kind of damaged goods Merry Piece is, would any court of law take her seriously if she tried to get custody of Alex?

In the US Ivan would win the case hands down if the whole truth were told.

Thanks again to all of you who stopped in and left comments!

I think I'm glad this one is much shorter. I always like the ones where controversey is more quickly summed up and clarified. I can't remember the last time I saw a t.n. that was this short. Maybe Amarte Es Mi Pecado.

UA- Ivan would get custody IF the whole truth were told. But that truthiness part always seems to get in the way of these novelas. Maybe if you put Saul and Maripaz together as a couple, 2 wrongs can make a right? Or maybe that's just optimism taking over.

I will admit to liking Maripaz because she is beautiful. ;) She also has a way of speaking that's intriguing to me. I alos think she can be brought in from the darkside. I don't think she is really evil. Spoiled brat and party girl? Yes indeed. But I think she can be "handled" properly. If done correctly. Heck she is better than any of those Jersey Shore Girls. Jenni Jwoww is probably the closest thing to normal among them but I still wouldn't mess with them. I dunno, Never really seen the show anyway.

You all can feel free to disagree, it's perfectly ok but I really, really think Maripaz is much better and has more potential than that bitchy girl Carmen. And that is saying something since most of you who know me here know that I liked most if not all the girls in other series shown in the past. I don't know. I just don't like Carmen at all. Something about her really irks me. The way she operates, feels entitled,etc......
