Teresa Fri 9/30/11 #150 SHARKITA BARES HER PEARLY WHITE TEETH!
CASA TERESA: Arturo and Teresa share a kiss. He asks if she’s sure about what she’s doing. He also asks if she truly fell in love with him. Isn’t it obvious?, she asks. She’s been in love with him for a long time. His phone rings – it’s someone named Carmelita. We see a flash of jealousy in Teresa’s eyes. He explains Carmelita called to tell him the divorce is final. He pulls off his wedding band, saying it’s time he stopped wearing it and goes to drop it in the trash bin. Teresa can’t believe he’s going to throw it away. He says the ring is trash, just like their marriage. That’s what she turned it into when she preferred money over the love she feels for him. He says it’s now really over. There is nothing to bind him to her. She disagrees and says they’ll always have all those beautiful moments they shared and he reminds her there were also some very painful moments, like her betrayal for example. Soon they will just be memories. He leans in and kisses her and she returns the kiss. **sigh, Ay Papi!!** The music swells and we have a romance-novel moment as they are locked in a passionate kiss. He finally pulls back and suggests she look him up so they can be together the night before her marriage to Fernando, just like she did with Mariano before she married Arturo. Well done, Arturo. Bravo! He walks away from her but turns and blows her a kiss at the door. **ay, ay, I think I’m having the vapors! Ay, Papacito chulo!** Whew, anyway, Arturo stops at the stairs and tearfully looks at his hand that no longer wears the wedding band. Back in the library, Teresa retrieves his wedding band from the trash bin and she’s also crying! A Donde Vamos a Parar?
HOSPITAL: Hector’s surprised to find Mariano back in his office (by Aurora’s side, of course), thinking he’d take a few vacations days after his ordeal. Mariano says he has lots to do and besides he’ll need the vacation for his honeymoon! He takes this opportunity to ask for Aurora’s hand. Hector agrees and in a touching gesture, kisses Aurora’s hand before placing it in Mariano’s. He’s convinced Mariano loves his daughter.
BACK AT TERESA’S HOUSE OF BLUES, she’s still crying over Arturo’s ring when Fernando walks in. She quickly hides the ring. She tells him everything is ok now and that Arturo and she have already split the workload. PLUS, everything is settled with the divorce and she only needs to pick up the final decree. Fernando is very happy and wants to get married ASAP no matter the cost. He suggests they push up the date. She begs him not to because the invitations have already gone out and all the preparations have been made. She doesn’t want any of their distinguished guests to miss the wedding. It’s the most important day of her life (yeah, that’s what she said the last time). He gives in, as always, but she still hasn’t explained why she was crying. She blames it on the legal issues with his mother. There’s not much they can do since all the transactions took place in Spain where his mother has many connections. He’s worried he’ll lose his father’s inheritance in full. Teresa says he may be able to keep the largest companies. She explains, as she paws him into submission, that if he were to sign these companies over to “someone else”, then he wouldn’t be able to hand them over to his mother – cuz they wouldn’t be his, see? He asks if he should put them in her name and she says that would be a good idea cuz then he’d be handing them over to someone he trussssssstssssss. Maybe she has doggie treats in her pockets or something, cuz he’s so mesmerized that he just starts kissing her. She finally comes up for air and tells him she’s happy he has so much confidence in her, so much so that he gave her power of attorney with those documents he signed. If he puts those companies in her name, that will be part of their community property but if he’d rather sign them over to someone else, they can sign the companies over to that person. Duh, he can’t think of anyone else he trusts. Oh, she understands, they’ve already seen how some friends can be. Who would have thought he’d end up hating Arturo. That clinches it and he makes the decision that the companies will be put in her name. Good boy! Here’s a liver snack! She kisses him and thanks him for his confidence. She tells him she hopes that by the time of the wedding, his mother will come around. riiiiiight
SCUMBAG HOTEL: Ruben is shushing Geno. They can’t risk anyone hearing them. Geno screams back that she doesn’t care what anyone thinks, she just wants to take care of Paulito! He agrees they shouldn’t argue. They need to stay united so they can confront everyone. She wants vengeance against everyone who’s been against them. Ruben names Teresa as being the one who fingered them for Fito’s murder. Yes, they must seek revenge for this and for all the harm she’s done to them and his daughter.
LUCIA’S CASA DE SKANK: Arturo has the divorce decree in his hands. Lucia congratulates him. He’s now a free man! She knows this isn’t what he wanted but things happen for a reason. He agrees, saying it’s time to put that all in the past and now he needs to learn to trust again. She knows it will take time, but she can be patient. They make out as the seksi music plays.
VECINDAD: Aurora and Mariano announce to all the vecindad dwellers that they’re gettin’ hitched! Clownberto makes some doofus remarks while everyone congratulates them.
CASA TERESA: Fernando is ready to sign the property documents but then hesitates, saying that what is happening with his mother is very hurtful. Teresa understands. It’s terrible that mumsy doesn’t respect him as he deserves. Instead of behaving like his mother, she acts as though she were his worst enemy. She hands him the pen and he obediently signs the document as Teresa gives him the most evil look ever! Give that good boy another liver snack!
BACK AT THE VECINDAD, Aurora asks Juana to make her wedding gown and Pati says she’ll pitch in. Pati asks if Aida and Teresa will be madrinas. Aurora confirms that Aida will be. There’s and awkward moment when Refugio assures everyone that Teresa is sure to be there because they’re such good friends.
The following morning, Refugio complains to Teresa about her upcoming marriage to Fernando. Teresa is sure of his feelings for her. Refugio wants to know about her feelings for him. When Teresa doesn’t respond, Refugio suggests they at least wait awhile. Teresa explains all the wedding plans are ready and the divorce is now final. Refugio complains that it’s been such a short time since Armando’s death. Teresa says that’s precisely why she doesn’t want to wait. The time to enjoy life is now. Her wedding is going to be sensational and held at the most expensive location with the best food. And her dress! To die for! She shows off the necklace Fernando gave her, saying it’s worthy of a queen. And it’s all hers. Refugio notes she’s only talking about material things. She hasn’t mentioned love or the excitement of being with the one you love. Refugio tells her it’s never too late to correct your mistakes and begin anew. Teresa complains she’s started over thousands of times already! Juana stops by and gives her the news of Aurora’s and Mariano’s upcoming wedding. Teresa’s surprised to hear the news, explaining Aurora has been distant since she started up with Mariano. She doesn’t blame her because who knows, Mariano may yet rediscover his love for Teresa! CARAAAAAZY! Juana is hurt when she realizes Teresa’s not interested in having her make her wedding gown. Teresa uses the excuse that Juana will be busy with Aurora’s dress and Teresa’s ceremony will only be a civil wedding.
ORIANA’S HOTEL ROOM: I believe this is our first visit to La Odiosa’s fancy schmanzy digs. She’s on the phone with someone discussing her legal maneuverings. She says they have the advantage that Teresa isn’t aware of the recovecos (twists and turns, complications) of Spanish laws. KNOCK, KNOCK, Who’s there? LANDSHARKITA! Teresa arrives in full Elvira splendor. Honestly, all she needs is the beehive! Anyway, she breezes right in, much to Oriana’s dismay. She’s come to ask her for the last time to accept her as her daughter-in-law. As always, Oriana replies, “¡Primero muerta!” Teresa tells her, “Think about it. I represent your son’s happiness. Together we can make BIG business! Especially now that I’m Fernando’s apoderada (legal proxy)!” WHA……WHAT!!!!????
CASA TERESA THE FOLLOWING MORNING: Reina’s taking out the trash and we see that Ruben has sneaked past her! He’s in disguise, wearing a cap. Uh, yeah. Teresa’s inside talking to a licenciado about the companies that have been put in her name. Holy cow, she’s telling this guy that Fernando would like to sell these companies and use the cash…..to invest in other companies. The licendiado makdes sure she understands these companies are very productive. Precisely the reason she wants them sold now and naturally this will require discretion to avoid further problems with Fernando’s mother. She reminds him that his commission will be directly related to his efficiency in the sale. So, can he do this or should she call someone else? He tells her she’d be surprised at how quickly he can sell these companies, only he needs to know if he can sacrifice a little on the price. Teresa considers it.
ORIANA’S SWANKY HOTEL: Momzilla has commanded Fernando’s presence. He hopes this is a truce (tregua). She reminds him how much she loves him and that she hates being separated from him. She’s gulping down some medication and tells him she’d like to have peace between them. He thanks her profusely, hugging her and kissing her. He knew she’d come around and even brought her invitation to his wedding. He’s so happy. She takes the invitation……..and rips it to pieces as he looks on. She called him here not only to ask him to cancel this absurd wedding but also to nullify any agreement he’s made with Teresa regarding his fortune. He picks up the shreds and tells her, “This is what you do! You butt into my life in order to control it at your whim (antojo).” “That’s not true,” she says. “I only want you to react (reaccion). I can swear to you that Teresa is planning to strip you of everything. She came here today to throw it in my face that you’ve made her your legal proxy! Is it true? Did you give that arribista the legal power to manage all of your assets?” Fernando can only respond, “What did you expect me to do? Allow you to leave me on the street? Estas loca, Mamá!” She calls him un imbécil and tells him Teresa will be the one who will leave him in the street. He wonders if this is what she did to his father every time she suspected him of infidelity. It’s no wonder father could no longer withstand her fits (arranques) and her jealousy. She killed him!!! Oriana hauls off and slaps her son, hard. That silences him. She tearfully asks how dare he say that to her! She’s distraught now and he tells her to get a good look at him because it’s the last time she’ll ever see him. He’ll never forgive her for everything she’s done! He’s not a kid anymore that she can manipulate to her liking. He’s a man now! He never wants to hear from her ever again! Oriana can’t take any more and she collapses to the floor, clutching her chest. Sonny boy runs to her side, screaming for his mommy! Oriana’s not responding. **gasp**
CASA TERESA: Teresa is seeing the licenciado to the door and we see Ruben hiding behind a pillar, with a gun! She runs to the door when she sees him. He threatens to kill her if she screams! (I scream for her instead). Ruben sarcastically says Teresa likes being the manipulator and asks her what it feels like to be on the other side. He blames her for losing Esperanza, Mayra’s discovery of his fraudulent shenanigans, and discovery by police of his involvement in Fito’s murder. She’s gonna pay now for everything she’s done to him, Geno, and Aida. A door slams shut somewhere. He warns her to get rid of everyone or else he’ll kill everyone in the house. He hugs her as though he’s kissing her. Reina walks in and Teresa yells at her to get everyone out of the house in a hurry.
HOSPITAL: Aurora explains to Fernando that Oriana suffered a stroke (apoplegía=apoplexy) but they need to complete the evaluation to determine the extent of the damage. Fernando is distressed and crying. Hector tells him Oriana’s condition is very weak and she is nonresponsive.
CASA DE TERROR: Ruben has tied Teresa to the railing upstairs. He holds a cell phone to Teresa’s ear and she leaves a voicemail asking Fernando to call her back ASAP. While they wait, he’s going to have her sign some checks. She’s driven him to this. This is what happens when someone loses everything because of her. She tells him she’s blameless and he needs to take responsibility for his own actions. He thinks his life was perfect before Mariano and she showed up. He hates her. He had everything and thanks to her he’s lost everything – his children, his money, his notaria!!! He ended up in jail and now he must flee from justice! He puts the gun to her face and says she has no idea what he feels just to look at her.
HOSPITAL: Fernando is at Oriana’s bedside. He’s very sorry for what happened. He loves her and begs her to recover.
CASA DE TERROR: Teresa tells Ruben she understands. She hopes Fernando’s money will help. She doesn’t have much but agrees to start making out those checks. He yanks the necklace off her neck and calls Geno as he runs downstairs for the checkbook. He tells her he has Teresa and soon they’ll be able to flee the country. As he’s rummaging through her purse, in comes Arturo to the rescue!!!!! POW!! A right cross to the kisser!! He shoves Rubinfeliz against the staircase and bashes his hand against the stairs, forcing him to drop the gun. Ruben runs up the stairs with Arturo close behind. BAM!!! Another right uppercut to the chops. UMMMPH! A blow to the breadbasket! They run across the balcony as our damsel in distress remains tied to the railing. Arturo gets him on the floor and pummels him. Aha! Aruro’s detective friends show up with their guns drawn. They take over and Arturo runs to Teresa’s aid. He explains he came by with documents pertaining to the lawsuits against Luna Turqueza. He ran into Reina outside who told him Ruben was with her in the house. He asked Reina to call the police and he came in to rescue her. YAY!
Arturo walks Teresa downstairs where the police are asking about Rodriguito’s whereabouts. Ruben is refusing to say, saying Roddy’s his son. Arturo tells him this doesn’t give him the right to kidnap him and Teresa tells him he’s going back to jail FOR-EV-ER!
HOSPITAL: Esperanza is back in her nursing garb as Hernan tells her they need to continue looking for Rodriguito and find a way to be happy. She agrees but says they’ll never give up. He swears to her they’ll find their son. They hug and VOILA! Teresa and Arturo pop in with little Roddy! Everyone cries tears of joy. Yay, the kidnapping saga is finally over. Good! So, when does Ruben die?
Aurora tells Fernando his mother is paralyzed and can hardly speak. He’s completely done in! No puede ser! Aurora tells him all is not lost. There’s still a hope for rehabilitation. He cries that it’s all his fault. She tells him not to blame himself, this could have happened for many reasons. Teresa sees him and he explains what happened. She’s bug eyed impactada but there’s a slight smile on her face! She’s a mean one! He tells her they argued. She tells him not to worry, they’ll do whatever is necessary to help her. They can stick her somewhere where she can get all the help she needs, medical miracles, etc. etc. Oh, and it may be a good idea to postpone the wedding. He thinks she’s incredible for thinking of Oriana after the way Oriana treated her. Teresa hugs him and smiles her little Sharkita smile.
Later that evening, Teresa runs into Aiiiiida at the hospital. Aida is apparently unaware of all the goings on. Teresa fills her in, telling her Ruben tried to kidnap her, hoping to use Fernando’s plane to flee the country. Aida can’t believe it. Oh, believe it. Her loca ex-mother-in-law and daddy are being processed at the jail this very minute! So who does Aida think is worse off now? Teresa, the poor one with a mechanic for a dad and a laundress for a mom? or Aida with a criminal and murderer for a dad? Teresa warned her she would pay for all her humiliations. She wonders how Aida will explain her life to her high society friends. NYAH, NYAH, NYAH!
Fernando is back at mom’s bedside telling her it was Teresa’s idea to postpone the wedding. He wonders if she realizes how she’s misjudged her. Teresa is willing to help her and she’s doing so because of her love for him. Magda tells him Dr. Alcazar wants to speak to him. He kisses his mother, telling her he loves her and only wants her to get better. Oh my, Teresa walks in after Fernando leaves. She tells Oriana she remembers when Oriana visited her when she was paralyzed and harassed her despite her condition. She’s only sorry she didn’t have the chance to tell her that Fernando gave her half of his businesses. Poor thing was worried momma was going to leave him in the street so he gave (cedió) his businesses to her for safekeeping. As Oriana always said, Teresa may be poor and uneducated but she’s very sharp. She knows very well what to do with those businesses. She tells Oriana not to worry. She'll bring Oriana back to her house where she’ll be under Teresa’s care. Surely a fate worse than death. Oriana can only frown. Scary.
TWO WEEKS LATER
CASA TERESA: Juana and Refugio visit. Refugio is still trying to talk Teresa out of this marriage. Teresa says it’s all good and besides she’s going to try and get Refugio out of that vecindad. Reina comes in all excited because the magazine representatives are here to interview her. Teresa explains this is one of the top publications in Spain and they’ve promised her a cover story for the wedding. This will be her entry into society and she’ll belong to the Jet Set of Europe and Mexico. Refugio wants to leave but Juana convinces her to stay so they can hear Teresa tell them of all the sacrifices her parents made and how she came from the vecindad. Refugio will be so proud. Uh, anyone out there believe that? Didn’t think so.
Teresa comes back in with Leticia the reporter. Leticia explains they’ve never been able to sit Fernando down for an interview and that’s why they’re so excited about this interview. Juana and Refugio greet the reporter and Teresa looks as though she forgot they were there. The reporter asks about Teresa’s family, assuming it’s similar to Fernando’s. Big pause. Teresa says that’s correct but unfortunately her parents died a long time ago. OMG!!! Refugio and Juana are stunned!
RECLUSORIO SUR: Rubinfeliz runs into his old buddy who tells him he heard that Rube killed Fito. In these here parts, they believe in an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. Has he met his friend Cholo? Gulp! Cholo was also Fito’s friend and he’s not real happy. Cholo lifts a very frightened Ruben by the collar.
ENTREVISTA: Juana goes over to Teresa who stops her, saying Juana knows how difficult this is for her. She tells Leticia she’d rather speak about Fernando. Leticia’s no dummy and notices something’s wrong. Refugio stands up and says Teresa is right, she no longer has a father, or a mother. There is no reason for Juana and Refugio to be there, so they’re going to leave now. Juana tries to reach out to Teresa but Teresa cuts her down, saying they’ll talk later. Leticia is trying to figure out what’s going on and Teresa tells her Juana knows how and why she does the things she does. She then introduces Juana as her nana (nanny)!!!! That’s why she takes liberties from time to time. She’s been her maid since Teresa was a child. OUCH! Reina comes in to tell Teresa the Licenciado Hernandez is waiting for her in the study. Teresa asks her to take Leticia out to the garden. Juana just stands there crying. ¡Increíble! I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say!
In the study, el Licenciado Hernandez hands her a check for the liquidation of the companies. Teresa hyperventilates as she reads the amount: 300 million DOLLARS!!!! CHA-CHING!!!! She asks him to return tomorrow for his commission. He congratulates her and leaves. Teresa then does a happy dance, repeating over and over again, “¡Soy millonaria! ¡Soy millonaria! ¡Soy millonaria!” We leave “la millonaria” as she’s kissing and smelling the check. LOCA!!!
Outside, Refugio cries at how Teresa snubbed (despreciar) them. It’s finally dawning on Juana what a desgraciada Teresa really is. She’s so hurt and doesn’t understand how Teresa could have said those things. Refugio thought she had changed but she was wrong. Teresa will always be ashamed of them. It really hurts her to say this but her daughter really is MALA!!! That’s what Gloria Trevi’s been trying to tell you all along!!!! Poor things.
Inside, Teresa is still looking at that check and saying to herself, “Now I really have what I’ve always wanted. The only thing missing is you, Arturo.”
Fernando comes in all happy, like the puppy dog that he is. He’s chattering about a nurse for mumsie and he’s excited they’re finally getting married. He goes to kiss her but she turns away. “No, Fernando,” she says. “Lo siento, but I’m not marrying you.” Words can’t describe my reaction to this. Mala AND descarada! Fernando can only look at her with sad puppy dog eyes.
SKANK HOUSE: Arturo is on the phone with Mariano, asking to be kept up to date on Oriana’s condition. He tells Lucia that Oriana is beginning her rehab and in time may recover some mobility. Lucia can’t believe Teresa’s agreed to take in Oriana after the wedding. He can’t believe it either but his only concern is Oriana. She doesn’t deserve this.
CASA MILLONARIA: Fernando is impactado! What does she mean by this? She looks at him like she could care less (which she doesn’t). He tells her the reporters are there to interview them because they’re about to get married. She says he can tell the reporters anything he’d like but she’s not marrying him because SHE DOESN’T LOVE HIM!!! He grabs her. No puede ser!! She shrugs her shoulders – S-O-R-R-Y, I made a mistake. Through clenched teeth he tells her this isn’t like choosing a dress, she can’t change her mind just like that. YES I CAN, she shouts. He’s proof of that . This is the same thing he did to Luisa when he realized he didn’t love her. And now she’s doing it to him. He asks her when she stopped loving him. She looks at him coldly and says she may have been confused. He begs her not to do this to him. She agreed to marry him and be his mujer. He starts to kiss her and she struggles against him. He doesn’t let go and she starts struggling, yelling at him to let her go. Here comes our trusty Reina just as Teresa breaks free, yelling at him to scram, "LÁRGATE!!! Get out of MY house and don’t ever come back." He refuses to accept this. Snapping her fingers at him, she asks if he prefers she call the staff to forcibly remove him. He’s impactado and she has fire in her eyes!
SKANK HOUSE: Arturo announces he’s leaving on a trip. He assures Lucia he’ll be here for her art exhibit. He’s hoping to catch up to Luisa and convince her to return. Lucia doesn’t think that will happen. She’ll miss him. They sweet talk – she thanks him for the opportunity (to be with him). ACK!
CASA MILLONARIA: Fernando isn’t giving up that easily. He follows Teresa around saying she betrayed him and duped him just like his mother said she would. She only wanted his money. “Well,” she says, “at least your mother got her way. I’m not going to marry you!” He tells her she’s pure evil (pura maldad). Arturo was right. She warns him she’ll call the police if he doesn’t leave. He finally leaves. She goes upstairs. She turns and just stands there, as though surveying her domain. In echo, we hear “Ser ó no ser, yo soy!” ¡GUAU!

I want Ruben to die now. They didn't show Genoveva after the big showdown. Will she still have her big hair in the big house? How will their fates be handled, I wonder. hmmm
I dont' want Art to end up with Teresa and I sure as hell don't want him with skanky girl either.
Wow, there's a lot to be settled on Monday!
This is my last recap for Teresa. It's been great fun and I thank you for putting up with my lengthy posts. I just don't know how I'm going to handle my Teresa withdrawals. Guess I'll have to reread GWTW.
I for one, LOVED when Teresa told Fer to fa-get-a-bout the boda. Oops, made a mistake, I don't love you.... Jajajajajajajajajajaja!!!! And to throw it up in his face that it's the exact same thing he did to Luisa! Wheeeee!!! You go girl!
I absolutely got the creepy crawlies watch Skancia slither around Arturo. With each slimy touch of hers, I had to keep the bile down. EeeYuckkkk.
Baby Rodrigo back with Espe. Finally. And I was happy to see it was his Godparents who returned him to his mama. Teresa looked genuinely happy and tender with the baby.
Sorry, but Mariano and Aurora are a complete yawn. Very
bland. Wasn't even that happy for them, it was more of an "oh, okay, they're gettin' married" whatever.
2 hours left and how they will wrap this up is jangling with my mind. I don't know how I'm going get through the weekend.
Gawd, I just had an awful thought! What if Fernando tries to kill Teresa?? He might just be crazed enough to go after her with a pistola. Ruben tried, but Fern must be even more furious with her. Noooooo! Teresa, don't go alone anywhere!
Thank you to all the recappers, you all have been wonderful. Thanks to all the commenters, you all have been great fun. It will be a blast discussing Monday's Gran Final.
Jarocha, don't forget to give us the links to those alternate endings. And I'm also looking forward to your telling us which ending we got out of the three.
Diann
Love your puppy metaphor for Fernando, I feel sorry for him. He was so deceived.
The depth of Tere’s evilness is breathtaking. I was with you Paquita, I didn’t even know what to think. I was on the edge of my seat throughout your recap.
Arturo blowing Tere that final kiss. So Rhett Butler-like.
I don’t really understand Tere justifying her actions by pointing out any of the actions of the other characters-Fernando jilted Luisa, yes he did, the lout. But why? Because Tere seduced him. Then Tere throws it in his face after robbing him of his fortune! What is she saying, “ja ja, look what I made you?” She puts his nose in it and swats him. Her hate for everyone is astounding.
Then el colmo was when she said to Aida, ja ja, look at your parents and then look at mine, who is better now? But then at the end, she totally renounces her own parents, the irony! Finally, she became a worse arribista (in all ways) than even her biggest enimigos and enimigas could imagine.
It doesn’t seem like the ending can please everyone. In TN justice, Tere should end up pretty badly. Can’t imagine her redeeming herself without suffering some kind of recompense. I dread the ending, and yet can’t wait.
In GWTW, Scarlett doesn't get Rhett back as I recall.
I don't think Aida is "bad." She is snobby & spoiled, but not a bad person. There's only been 2 people Aida tried to hurt:
Teresa
Esperanza
And it looks like the revelations about Ruben will make Aida reconsider how she feels about Esperanza (just like Mayra).
Teresa, on the other hand, went out of her way to hurt the following people:
Refugio
Arturo
Aurora
Aida
Ruben
Paolo
Genoveva
Luisa
Juana
Mariano
Esperanza (although she doesn't know to what extent)
Fernando
Oriana
Basically everyone on the show except Pati and Armando...and even with Armando she chose not to give him any money to save him from his debts.
Fernando's going off the cliff...hope he doesn't take Teresa with him.
This is like the movie "Carmen Jones," where the temptress plays with the wrong dude & he ends up killing her. He lost his faithful (but boring) girlfriend & promising career dealing with Carmen and in the end decided to end her "playful" ways. Hope Teresa doesn't meet a similar fate, although she would deserve it after the way she discarded Refugio & Juana.
Juana finally has her eyes open to Teresa. She'll go crying to Cutberto, who will fight the urge to say "I told you so."
The wedding dresses (Teresa's first & second) should have given Juana a clue as to how Teresa really felt about her. Both times Teresa disregarded & disrespected the idea of Juana making her wedding dress.
Contrast that with Aurora, who was HAPPY to have Juana make HER wedding dress.
Refugio was sad, but not surprised & stunned like Juana was. That's because Juana's had a sheet over her eyes that just got pulled.
Aurora, Esperanza & the Vecindad Gang will not be happy when they hear about this. Ramon is probably doing the Dougie and the Shuffle Dance now that there's no chance for Teresa to be Mariano's esposa.
Teresa wouldn't have done that if Armando had still been alive, IMO.
I wanted to see Roots do the perp walk.
Thanks, Paquita...more when I've had some coffee. And was that really Rulli jumping over those railings? Oh no, he is too pretty to risk getting hurt.
GinCA
I too wished we had seen Geno do the perp walk, but maybe she's already's someone's bitch en el bote.
Rubes is probably fuming now that he didn't just shoot her or hit her with the pistola.
I felt so bad for Refugio and Juana....
Can't wait for the ultimo capitulo.
Scarlett was from a time when a woman couldn't just get out and get a high paying job. Getting married was the only way to get money. And one thing about my girl Scarlett, she didn't intend to sit around and be a high society girl. Scarlett WANTED to get her hands dirty and actually work to get more money. She wasn't counting on some man to get it for her.
Also Scarlett didn't care about her place in society. Just as long as she had money and the Yankees couldn't take anything away from her and her family. Scarlett couldn't stand her family. But just about everything she did in her life she did for them. Whatever she had she also wanted her family to have money and plenty of food.
Scarlett had alot of layers to her. Which is why I loved her so much.
Teresa maybe started off with some layers. But as the show goes on she slowly but surely became more and more plain Evil. There is nothing left in her to identify with.
And Rhett and Scarlett were soulmates because they were both exactly alike. Rhett liked that Scarlett was ruthless and wasn't afraid to actually work. Art is the ultimate "good guy" who is not down for Teresa's cruel exploits.
Aida started as a bad mini-criminal but the irony is that Teresa has made herself into a worse person! Not as violent, but just as mean or meaner. Teresa's tell off of Aeeeda was a sad ironic moment, no satisfaction there.
For me, we started with a realistic situation with Teresa-Mariano-Arturo but are ending with unrealistic cartoon characters, Fernando- Teresa- Oriana. It is not so much what they have done but how they did it with big, loud, overly- despicable, puppy-dog, grimacing ways.
Anon 207, I was asking myself about the legality of Teresa's power of attorney move too. That's one for the lawyers! Oriana pushed her son into a spot where he made that bone headed move. He clearly told her that she was pushing him into the street, at the signing he trusted the arribista more than his mother. Fernando obviously loves his mother, but she couldn't turn his love into trust because she over-played her hand and came on too strong.
Anon, I agree with you. At this point, we don't have a Scarlett or a Melanie either! I don't hate Aurora and I think she good with Mariano, but she is no Melanie!
Paquita, more later!
Teresa has fully crossed over to the dark side. Her snubbing of Juana and Refugio in front of the magazine reporter confirms that and has finally alienated the last two people who truly love her.
Rubigoatie and Genovenom got what they deserved. The public humiliation Aida will get from that is the final payback for her humiliation of Teresa and the harm she did to Esperanza.
Teresa really isn't Scarlett O'Hara, at least not anymore. Scarlett was a woman ahead of her time. When the chips were down she wasn't afraid to work her butt off to keep her property and keep her family fed. This is where she and Teresa really part company: For all of Scarlett's faults she loves her family. She would never have humiliated Mammy in the way Teresa just humiliated Juana. Scarlett was also was able to rise above her own feelings about Melanie to keep her promise to Ashley. I don't see Teresa being capable of that.
Scarlett may not have been interested in higher education (we're led to believe this would have bored her) but she would have been appalled at Teresa using sex to manipulate men when she didn't have to. Teresa was a class valedictorian -- possibly twice over -- and didn't have to marry Arturo for money. Sure, this would have eased her entree into society, but Scarlett herself would have told her she didn't need to boink men she didn't love to get ahead. Scarlett would have told her to be a legal or business shark and beat others at that game.
Now, did Fernando truly sign over only half of his assets? If so he may be able to still get the other half back, although that would be expensive. But it would be worth it.
I've dcne the comparison to Carmen before. Mark my words.
Finally, I have some new lyrics for the end credits song for the finale episode, based on what I think should happen to Teresa. With apologies for any grammatical errors:
Teresa – Finale Lyrics
Voy a presentarte Teresa
Por quien la vida fue sorpresa
Vive en la vecindad
En pura oscuridad
Su fin fue lo peor
Hoy a presentarte Teresa
Ahora vive en probresa
Hace poco fue muy rica
Pero fue mujer maldita
Nunca pudo ser feliz
Esa mujer fue bonita
Ahora es tan solita
Lastima, es perdida,
Con desaprobacion
Con el corazón mas fria
Y sonrisa congelada
Pero es desalmada
Es una maladición.
Esa hembre es mala
Amistad no se vale
La verdad no se sabe
El amor no la quise.
Esa hembra es nada
Perdi diamanates
Perdi su amante
Perdi su marido
Esa Hembra es nada
Vacia de sentimientos
Nunca tuve concencia
Y esta su perdición.
recap done at lightning speed.
I had missed some import bits of conversation that you so aptly pointed out. I am going to watch it again right now before my day begins.
Don't mess with Teresa! She's worse than the Godfather - she will provide a ruthless payback to anyone who wrongs her ...and I don't recall that Teresa ever did anyone any favors to start with.
I was surprised at how quickly she demolished Fernando. No pity for him; he was warned repeatedly,
and in this day and age, it is customary for young people to set up pre-nuptial marriage contracts and not just those who are billionaires. I know several guys who lost almost everything on account of a greedy woman. Divorce is rampant, and many hardworking guys who marry in their 30's or 40's fear losing all they've worked for in case the tide turns. They seen it many times with their own friends.
Además, Fernando is allegedly
a super shrewd businessman, so no soup for him.
What was the reference to fraud
that Odiana mentioned to Fer
in regard to Luna Turquesa?
Is it possible that Fer was involved in shady dealings with this project? He is certainly
not a pure soul. Apparently, he alternates between shrewd and stupid.
Paquita, all of your recaps have been truly wonderful -- colorful, detailed, hysterically funny, and most importantly of course educational as well. I have not commented much, but I have throughly enjoyed all of them.
Best of luck with Teresa withdrawal.
As for Aida, I agree with Anon that she is not really "bad". She's by no means a saint and I don't particularly like her but I do find her an interesting character.
I also agree with Diann that Mariano and Aurora are a bit bland. They are cute together and they do have chemistry but I don't know... they don't manage to hold my interest very much. Juana and Cutberto or even Teresa and Arturo (despite her disgusting personality) are much more interesting couples in terms of liveliness and spark.
I think the last episode will belong to Juana. She will FINALLY have to talk to Teresa the way she deserves it-telling her off for all the times she has used her throughout the years.
"Give that good boy another liver snack!" Teresa really did lead that poor guy to the "doghouse" didn't she? But I find nothing admirable in her qualities or her "smartness". She's never used it really for anything but for how to get what she wants. And humiliating her mother and Juana that way. Ok-wake up call Juana needed, but it was just cruel and selfish.
Glad that Marauro get their happy ever after. Unreal that Teresa still thinks Mariano will realize her love for her...serious screws loose.
Teresa will never make anyone else "happy" because it will always be about her. Doesn't matter who the guy is. Heaven forbid that woman would ever have a child. Her joy over that check was disgusting to watch, but it really summed up what she.
Out of the three endings that are out there, I know which one I don't want to see unless something really out of left field happens. It will be interesting to see which one we get.
RULLI RAILS OVER THE RAIL !
RULLI RULES!!
Bravo por todo, querido Arturo.
I grew to love thee.
I had to slap my face at the end in order to bring myself back to reality. I had to REMIND myself that this was just fantasy...however...
Teresa was nothing more than cheap trash to me last night...she even looked and dressed like a whore. That was the only word that was going through my mind to describe her. I could have said 'woman of the night' or 'woman of the streets', but just the sound of the word in all of its ugliness is what Teresa represented to me.
I have no idea as to the Mexican legal system, but it seems like she robbed Fernando of his millions.
It's the level to which she has now descended that was totally and utterly sickening to me.
The final straw was what she did to Refugio and Juana. I felt like I had been literally punched in the stomach when Teresa said her parents were both dead.
The actress playing Refugio was superb in her facial response to Teresa's deep and wounding words.
At that point, I was ready to walk away from it and not even see the end scene. When they used the reverb to have Teresa say her now sickening and filthy words, for a very brief moment, I was thinking the writers were going to do a St. Elsewhere on us! (The long running hospital series that ended as being nothing more than an autistic boy's dream).
I say kudos to the writers and producers for creating something so real that it has me thinking about it the next morning!
UA: Agree with your points 100%. As you said earlier, Teresa is a sociopath.
Even La Odiosa did not deserve to have someone standing over her gloating that she will 'take care' of her in her illness. Oriana knows that is a fate worse than death.
In my view, she does not deserve redemption. The cold, sorry, pathetic life she will live alone (I presume) is more than enough punishment.
It was also interesting to me how Boyer made me feel about the Teresa character last night. I think Boyer is attractive, but not pretty or beautiful. In the scene where she was snapping her fingers at Fernando made me see her as a physically ugly woman. Her bony arms...her pointed chin...her sickening voice...ugly in every sense of the word.
Teresa is an evil, sick, mind numbing, manipulative piece of human trash.
Gracias Paquita...I will miss your wonderful recaps and hope to see you recapping another TN very soon!!

No, absolutely not. Yes, Aida caused Teresa & Esperanza physical harm, but as Teresa told Ruben to accept responsibility, so must she:
Aida did not force Teresa to point out Paolo to Fito.
Aida did not force Teresa to withhold money from Refugio & Armando to save them from eviction.
Aida did not force Teresa to encourage Juana to bead a wedding dress by hand when she knew all along she was going to wear the Vera Chang.
Aida did not force Teresa to cheat on Arturo with Mariano, or make escape plans with Mariano.
Aida did not force Teresa to tell all of Mexico that Mariano was a deranged stalker who wouldn't leave her alone.
Aida did not force Teresa to encourage Aurora to go after Mariano, encourage Mariano to come back to Teresa, then put down Aurora b/c Mariano couldn't forget Teresa.
Aida did not force Teresa to get mixed up in the Ruben/fraud situation (although that worked out in Mayra's favor).
Aida did not force Teresa to seduce Fernando behind Arturo/Luisa's backs.
Aida did not force Teresa to get Fernando to dump Luisa the day before her wedding to sniff after Teresa.
Aida did not force Teresa to file for divorce from Arturo.
Aida did not force Teresa to scam Fernando out of millions of dollars, or force Teresa to force Fernando into signing the Barrera house to her.
And finally, Aida did not force Teresa to tell the interviewer that her parents were dead (in front of Refugio) or that Juana was just a nanny/maid (in front of Juana).
Aida didn't make Teresa go to the dark side. Teresa was already there. Sad thing is, Aida & Oriana knew what a bad person Teresa was, and they have been proven RIGHT, but the way they went about proving it was WRONG.
Well, UA and Anon207 have said it all for me. I couldn't have said it better! Saved me a lot of typing ;-}
Teresa started out with some issues, but refused to see them and they've grown into true evil. Teresa, Fernando, etc. are responsible for their own actions, just like the rest of us...
jb
UA, your reworked lyrics are brilliant. Sonrisa congelada is right.
Great comments everyone, they give me much food for thought as we approach the final episode. As a huge fan of GWTW it has been fun to note the similarities and differences. Although at this point I would agree with Urban that the Carmen similarity is pretty strong right now. Monday will be very interesting!
Thanks again Frances!!
You can not say Scarlett doesn't get Rhett back. As you may recall the book ends with Scarlett vowing to get him back because she now knows she loved him along and he is the right person for her. And we all know, whatever Scarlett puts her mind to, she succeeds.
Diann
Many novelas have convenient flashbacks to help viewerville understand the character's history. Teresa did not. Each person here is at liberty to interpret Teresa's home and her life as a child from the little we saw early on in the novela. We all know the damage bullying does to a child, we don't need to cite psychological reports. IMHO, the writers put excessive bullying and humiliation in for a reason. It is to give us an idea why Teresa became the way she did. Many here have sited personal experiences for their understanding and interpretation of a character. Using my judgment, I feel that both Refugio as a mother and Teresa's school life contributed to the person she is today. In true novela fashion, they have taken the character, makeup, dress and all to an extreme level. I feel that if she had been in a different environment and not a novela character (!) she might have had a different outcome. I will admit that I am disappointed in her, and feel that is too late for honest change. She should have tried harder to "Haz lo correcto" and especially after the light filled death of her father. OK, now for my disclamer: "Of course, I could be wrong!!!"
This is the best bunch of people to have differences of opinion with, all so smart and thoughtful.
Paquito, you have been a real trouper. I seem to remember that you were taking two or three capitulos per week early on. Your recaps remind me of listening to a best friend telling a great story all the while making great comments! You have a fun, wonderful style. Thanks for all your hard work.
I have a technical question, each time I try to use italics in Pages (Macbook) and copy and paste here, they disappear. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong. I don't see the option for italics on the Caray page. Italics are cooler that caps!
Scarlett married 3 times.
The first to Charles Hamilton. And yes, it was to get back at Melanie because Melanie married Ashley.
The second was Frank Kennedy. And yes, it was only to save Tara from the taxman. She also hurt her sister Sue Ellen because Frank was Sue Ellen's promotido.
The third was Rhett. He loved her before she loved him. (Arturo to Teresa) And she realized she loved Rhett on her honeymoon to New Orleans (Teresa in Europe)
Sorry, but Scarlett IS mala.
But I love still love her.
And Teresa IS Scarlett just with modern day opportunities.
Diann
Scarlett did not boink men to get what she wanted. Yes, she did use her sex to do that, but she did not sleep with them until after marriage.
Teresa JAMAS slept with a man to get want she wanted. She has only had Mariano & Arturo. Both of them husbands.
Diann
Oh, this chapter was off-putting! I did like that Teresa got the best of her foes, but, having the magazine people over to cover her wedding, then breaking off the wedding with Fern made little sense to me. I thought she also wanted the door-opening power from an old world lineage?
I really would like Teresa and Art to clear up matters between them, and get back together on track, but at this juncture in thie novella, I can't foresee a happy ending for her or them as a couple...if he gets hurt/ dies going over the railing, or if she she goes to jail for her "embezzlement?" (not sure.) or ends up alone... then, she's done everything for absolutely nothing...
Thanks to all all the commentors for making this novella a whole lot of fun. Sure made my mornings brighter starting out with some laughs when I broke my foot in May!
Lady Lisa de Saint Helena
P.S. Did not care for those spaghetti strapped dresses at all on Juana. She looked like she was hanging out all over the place with the front cuts so low! Just didn't seem at all age appropriate or flattering. A few more inches of fabric covering up those huge girls, with thicker shoulder straps or tiny cap sleeves would have looked lovely...
But honestly, the hate is just too much. People she's a character. And you've taken this way too personally.
I have watched loving to see how far bad can get you.
She has been fantastic at maneuvering everything to get what she wants. Great Fun. Mix that with romance worthy Arturo/Teresa scenes and voila! Fun, fun, fun.
Lighten up people. It's not real life.
Diann
It has been interesting to see all the strong reactions to Teresa as a character, there are some who really love her and some who hate her.
The most interesting thing is seeing how she seems to inspire such strong reactions that seem to surpass the feelings for other Telenovela villains, who are TRULY despicable and evil and get so far as to kill human beings in other novelas.
How do you draw the line that signals the point of no return for a character? Does it have to do with his or her deeds or is it more about the environment created by the novela?
Like, for example, a comedy novela like Gancho: Constanza kidnapped Mauricio's children and took his money with the divorce and continuously tried to make the protagonists unhappy. Everyone cheered when she was redeemed and ended up happy.
In CME, if Roberta, who has constantly plotted agains her sister and her lies (with no other desire than to create harm) are in part guilty for all the abuse she has received ended up regreting everything she has done and decided to be good. Would those who watch that novela be happy with it?
Jarocha
UA and Anon 207, ITA on everything you've said about Teresa. IMO Arturo deserves much better. Sure he played her games for awhile, but he does not get off on deception and power as she does. Lucia is a hot babe to help him nurse his wounds, but eventually he'll move on to someone that's just right for him.
Aida is no longer the self-centered, even criminal, brat that she was when the TN started. The blows she's taken have changed her. She's accepted Mar's rejection (finally) and been supportive of Aurora and Mar, and even realized she needs to go man-less for awhile to get herself together. And she was always caring to her mom. Aida will probably always be a snob, but maybe not so shrieky with it.
I see Ter living a life surrounded by riches and high society people who don't give a damn about her. Wouldn't ending the engagement suddenly and taking the money of such a prominent novio make her a crass interloper who is tolerated but not accepted in high society? Yes, Teresa was bullied and had a ultra-traditional mom who didn't understand her outsized ambition, but Ter was surrounded by loving family and friends. She shouldn't have such a black heart.
On the other hand, loved Ter throwing Fer's dumping Luisa in his face. And I too sure hope they show Geno in the big house.
I agree with Anon207 about Aida. She threw a little water from the housekeeper's pail with dilute ammonia on Tere after the love of her life had died of a drug overdose implicating Tere on his deathbed...big deal, I agree that doesn't balance the scale with Tere's long list...
If will be interesting to see if they redeem Tere, they'll have to strangle the plot a bit. I'd like to see it, though.
One thing I agree with you on, Diann, Aurora and Mariano are about as exciting together as bread pudding.
This episode went by so quickly, think they could have stretched it out a bit.
I have to admit I was truly disappointed in Teresa last night...she forgot a life lesson 101
MAKE SURE THE CHECK HAS CLEARED ! She should have dumped Fernando after it was nice and safe in her off shore account! I would think she could be accused of fraud and embezzlement stealing that money from him.
I thought when Arturo was chasing Rubin he would get shot instead of Tere and take the bullet for her like she did for him. Darn.
I also am confused why she didn't stick around to give her fake magazine interview, this was her time to shine. she seemed to really look forward to the big extravagant wedding hob nobbing with her fellow wizards. Now she even burned her bridges in Spanish high society, I don't get it, so out of character for even her.
Arturo is going on a trip I would love for Teresa to be on the same plane and they fly off to Paris in the sunset with all of Fernando's dinero!
My favorite part of the entire episode was that ORIANA CANNOT SPEAK !!!!!!! HALLEULIAH ! my novenas to our lady of Guadeloupe have been answered! that is her worst nightmare and poetic justice , since she constantly opens her big fat mouth with her rude comments and opinions, it got her into trouble in the first place!
The first to Charles Hamilton. And yes, it was to get back at Melanie because Melanie married Ashley.
---------------------------
I thought Scarlett married Charles Hamilton to get back at Ashley's sister India, who was interested/in love with Charles. Why would Melanie be hurt if Scarlett married Charles? Charles was Mel's brother. [Ashley & Melanie were also cousins]
The only family members Scarlett cared about were her parents & daughter Bonnie. Her sisters and her children by Charles Hamilton & Frank Kennedy could have kicked rocks for all she cared.
Whoever mentioned the possibility of Fernando killing Teresa in the final, I had the same thought. She has left so much personal destruction in her wake, I can't believe it won't catch up with her. But I wonder then what that would do to Refugio who has lost her other two family members in the course of this novela. I guess it could be argued that she lost Teresa in this episode, but in spite of that, I think Teresa's death would kill Refugio as well.
A couple of episodes ago I was hoping for redemption, but I've given that up!
Anyways...Frances/Paquita- You ought to get an award for all the hard work you put into getting us excited for this tn and putting in so much of your time to give us complete, detailed and insightful recaps each week, sometimes 2-3 times a week. Many thanks amiga!
I love that we've had so many strong opinions from the commenters on this tn. It says a lot about this tn, the writing, and the characters.
Last night's capitulo was a doozy! Loved seeing Tere take Fernando down. He can't say he wasn't warned. Also loved seeing Art take Ruben down, rescue Teresa, and desplay his althletic ability. Ay Papi! The return of the baby was a wonderful relief. And as painful as it was to watch, I am glad that the blinders have finally been taken from Juana's eyes about Teresa. She was getting on my nerves the way she was so willing and eager to believe the worst about everyone else, except Teresa, and swallowed her bs every time. The only person I felt sorry for in that scene was Refugio, who had gotten her hopes up about Teresa recently. Now she has basically lost both her daughters and her husband.
I will never accept this theory that Refugio being conservative and concerned (because she alone knew the true nature of her daughter) caused Teresa to turn out the way she did. Teresa was raised in a loving home. Sorry folks. Nothing to see here. She was just born this way. At at each opportunity when she had the chance to choose her own self interest or the well being of her family and friends, she chose herself. And these are people who have sacrificed a LOT for her so that she could succeed. I am also not buying this myth that she did it alone. No one does it alone. Someone made sacrifices so that she could dedicate her big brain to studies, instead of having to work. We saw how hard her parents and Juana worked to make sure she not only had the things she needed, but also the things she desired (not the same thing). Even though the folks in the hood think she puts on airs (she does) they were always supportive of her studies, and celebrated right along with her and her parents when she graduated from high school and college. We saw no one looking on in jealousy or bad mouthing her because she had attained so much education. She has always been the hometown girl that "did good." They are proud of her. She is the one who is not proud of them and looks at them with disdain. She is also a lousy friend.
Both she and Aida have issues that I think require a shrink to fix. But Aida has always been honest and loyal to her friends and family. That counts for a lot, and that's why in the end Aida will likely have friends who support her and a mom who will be right by her side. But Teresa will have neither. So even though during that hospital scene between Ter and Aida it looked like Teresa was scoring points, the real truth is that Aida still has more going for her than Teresa does.
People suck up to other people with money.
I wouldn't worry about Teresa not cashing the check before dumping Fernando. That's probably the FIRST thing she did after her SOY MILLIONARIA dance.
Teresa did to Fernando what she wanted to do with Arturo: strip him of his money and go skip off to be with the man she loves.
Teresa needs to learn PATIENCE. Arturo built his fortune up after the murder of his parents (did we ever find out why they were killed?) and he would have done it again. It just would have taken a little time. Luisa/Fernando would have gladly given the house back to Arturo/Teresa because they would probably have been in Spain most of the time.
Fernando's got to feel like the biggest fool in the world. He's lost a woman who truly loved HIM, not his dinero. His money & businesses have been stripped from him. His mother, who happened to be right all along, is laying in a hospital bed paralyzed and in a vegatable state* for the rest of her life. He lost the care of his best friend by dumping his sister and cheating with BFF's wife. And has now been revealed to be the biggest dummy in the Western Hemisphere.
Fernando didn't commit fraud with Luna Turquesa, but the Rrrrrrat Pack (including Oriana) spread a rumor that he was committing fraud so people wouldn't buy the condos so Teresa's stock would be devalued.
*Oriana was paralyzed, but mentally alert when Teresa came to taunt her. If you noticed, the blood pressure machine spiked from 120/90 to 240+ and still climbing. Oriana probably had another stroke and this one probably left her in a non-communicative state.
Teresa was shockingly horrible last night. The only bright spot was the rescue of Roddie with his parents and godparents beaming happily.
Jarocha - your thread about the emotions Teresa's provokes is really interesting to me. It seems female villains (even those who don't kill) can be vilified in ways that makes me pause. Yes Teresa, especially last night, was wretched but I'm more in Sandy's camp of being disappointed at her growing and continued selfishness than hating her or at least what she's done. In most novelas the heroine can try your patience with her lack of astuteness. Here we have a TN with a smart, attractive woman who doesn't let herself get taken advantaged of but takes advantage of others, particularly loved ones, all the time. I just wish tn women could have more of Teresa's shrewdness.
Also, I was one of the few people who wasn't excited about Connie's redemption in Gancho. And though I haven't watched all of CME, if Roberta gets redeemed it will be hard to take because though she has been raised by a monster, she made the decision to keep helping her mom knowing how it would her hurt sister and Regina.
Vivi - glad you mentioned bread pudding 'cause I've tasted some that are anything but boring.
Especially since Teresa would have been more knowledgeable about sex. Even as a virgin (which we assume Teresa was in the opening episode) she would have known more than Scarlett did back in the day.
I don't think Scarlett fell in love with Rhett on their honeymoon, either. It took longer, but I'm not sure how much. And even if she didn't love her sisters, she still took care of them. She would have strongly disapproved of how Teressa treated her parents and the disrespect she showed to Juana.
Teresa is more like Bizet's Carmen with the addition of greed. She enjoys hurting people. She's in a constant game of one-upwomanship with other women. Her greed is insane. She uses the lure of sex to get what she wants. I'm the first to say that Fernando is a douchebag, but Teresa should not be allowed to keep the spoils of her actions in this situation in view of her other crimes of the heart.
As for whether she would be accepted in the upper echelons of society, I'd say she shouldn't bet any of the $300MM on it. Nobody there would welcome a slum rat who scammed that money out of one of their own. Fernando would lose that crowd for his stupidity (and that would also be well-deserved).
My guess now is that Teresa will make some mistake at the top of the finale that comparable to the handwritten class schedule Fito has. Only this mistake will be much more expensive.
Are you planning to post your BP recipe .. would love it!
Enjoying all the feisty, thought-provoking comments -- definitely not mealy mouthed.
UA - thanks for clarifying the Fraud aspect; also enjoyed your clever revision of the theme song.
Since she is my girl, It was worth the wait to see fernando finally get thrown under the bus. It was so much fun watching this idiot get played, Luisa you can be happy now, you got your revenge girl without laying one finger. hopefully you are not around to console him because you deserve better. I still hope my girl can make peace with everyone, i hope she redeems herself and get to be happy now that she is millionaria.
If not, enjoy being rich and throw a party!
although i am dissapointed of my girl, ser o no ser, she still is.
As much as La Odiosa has gotten on my last nerve, her stroke alone was sufficient punishment for trying to take Teresa down in a very wrong way. I think it cruel and unusual punishment to torture her by having to live with Teresa for the rest of her life. I think Oriana will lose the will to live before accepting living under Teresa's roof.
Vivi: I agree that Refugio and Don Armando had nothing to do with Teresa's mental illness. She was born sick. They didn't create this sociopath/personality disorder. Refugio might not have been the easiest to get along with, but as you've said, she loved her daughter and supported her as did so many in the vecindad.
However, a sociopath will never be 'cured'. Aida does have the capability to be helped by clinical counseling, but Teresa is a Bad Seed. While Aida has not yet shown remorse for some of the significantly hurtful things she has perpetrated, the realisation that her father was not the person she thought he was, has changed her tune.
Aida can be helped. Teresa is fundamentally flawed. She does not recognise what she does as being wrong. She has an evil heart.
Anon207: You are correct in saying that Scarlett married Charles Hamilton in order to spite India Wilkes.
Enjoying all the comments! Wonder what we will be saying/thinking on Monday. I assume that CME will preempted for this Gran Fin?
Susanita
As for Teresa herself: even if Fernando might have had it coming (to some degree)...wow. This is usually where people get killed in crimes of passion on other shows...
Susanita
Ingredients:
8 large eggs
2 cups milk
2 cups heavy cream
1 ½ cups sugar
1 vanilla bean, split and scraped (and a teaspoon of vanilla extract if desired)
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup dark rum
1 baguette (or 1 pound of any bread) cut into 1 inch pieces
½ teaspoon distilled white vinegar
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
Cooking Instructions:
1) Whisk eggs, milk, cream ½ cup sugar, vanilla bean/vanilla, salt, and rum in large bowl. Add bread and let soak at least 45 minutes, pushing down the bread occasionally to absorb liquid.
2) In medium saucepan over high heat, stir together 1 cup sugar, vinegar, and ½ cup water until sugar is dissolved. Cook without stirring until sugar turns dark amber in color (about 10 minutes). Remove from heat and carefully add ¼ of water and swirl until it’s combined (it will likely sputter).
3) Quickly (before it hardens) pour the caramel into a 9 inch baking pan. Rotate the pan until the caramel covers the whole bottom and some of the sides. Set aside and let cool.
4) Pre-heat oven to 350. Put a kettle of water to boil. Rub cooled pan with butter, covering cooled caramel and sides. Spoon bread mixture in, packing tightly. Cover with a parchment or wax paper round.
5) Place the pan in a roasting pan and pour the hot water to come halfway up the side of the pan. Bake for 1 ¼ hours, or until a knife inserted at the center comes out barely clean. (Don’t over bake it.) Let stand for at least 5 minutes, then run a spatula or knife around the edges, invert and place on a large plate.
6) Cut and serve, preferably with caramel rum sauce on top (see below).
Caramel Rum Sauce:
Ingredients:
½ cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup whipping cream
1 tablespoon dark rum (less or more to your taste)
1 teaspoon vanilla
In a small sauce pan combine all ingredients, except vanilla. Cover and cook over medium heat until mixture boils, stirring occasionally. Mixture will thicken once it comes to a boil. Add vanilla, stir, and removed from heat. Serve warm over bread pudding.
I don't think Refugio's influence is so big that she would have hurt Teresa as much as to turn her into the greedy person she is. But their fights and disagreements are a natural reflection of the generational differences that are causing such a strain right now in Mexico.
Refugio comes from another time and different ways of thinking. The young people in this story are growing in a free country, with news and articles bringing ideas and general information from the rest of the world, with opportunities that their parents didn't have (even the rich ones), with messages telling them that they can reach the stars if they want to. By being in a private school, that's at least how Teresa saw the world because that's the kind of attitude that is only possible at the moment for those with money. Refugio grew up in a place where nobody dared to challenge the status quo, where you had no control over who was going to govern you, where you only heard the news you were allowed to, where you only saw the shows you were allowed to, where you could only hope to have a nice life once you became an adult and get a job to endure the tough times that always seemed to be getting worse. For those in the middle and lower classes, the moment you were born meant mostly how your life was going to be lived.
Yes, there is a usually contrast between one generation and another but, at least in Mexico's history, there has never been a greater contrast than the one between the people who are right now between the ages of fifteen and mid twenties and their parents.
And the reality is that our world here is neither the promise that comes from the media nor the damnation that our parents talk about. That makes things extremely confusing for all the young people who have turned into or are becoming adults today. The future is blurry right now, and that does create changes in behaviour. Except they aren't all turning into Teresa, it seems mostly that young people are becoming depressed and fighting anxiety. In 2008, it was revealed that Mexico has the 17% of the total of people suffering from depression in the world. And more than half of these people are below 30 years old. There is a huge worry over this right now.
Jarocha
BTW, I recommend the latest DVD of it from the Met with Elīna Garanča. She even took flamenco lessons to be able to do the dance in Act II.
Boy was Teresa cruel to Refugio and Juana. I don't know if Teresa can ever be redeemed after this.
Did Arturo give Teresa the kiss off or what? Those 15 days went by quick LOL. It seemed as though they had just signed the divorce papers the day before. In addition, when Teresa called Arturo to talk with him he said he didn't want to talk to her and hung up on her. I really don't know if Arturo and Teresa will end up together in the final episode. All I know is I don't want him to end up with Lucia. Watching them together is like watching paint dry. There's no chemistry in those bland kisses.
Things didn't look good for Ruben in the slammer. That reminds me. I loved Arturo flying through the door like Superman to come to Teresa's rescue.
Looks like we're in for a two-hour finale Monday. Can't wait.
Thanks again for the recaps Frances.
Lucia would be a "transition woman" for Arturo. He does deserve better.
Everyone's lives have been ruined because of this unsatisfied, money hungry whore. Aida and oriana only tried to ruin her, but Ms universe used everyone to get to these two. She has no class. Since she has all that money, I hope she is left all alone, afterall that is all she ever cared about. No love, no family, no friends.
fancypants,

This episode should be the finale. Anything else will be extraneous and irrelevant. My optimism for Teresa has withered and died. She IS who she is. There could be no (even slightly believable) redemption anymore.
So sad. She's bad.

Genovenom and Rubigote got sent to their respective slammers and deprived of Rodriguito.
Aida was given her big life lesson when faced with her father's treachery - she took this to heart, and she is now being "rehabilitated".
Oriana was struck dumb and helpless after all her bullying, conniving, controlling, and gloating over other people paralyzed in hospital. If she recovers, she'll have a chance to choose to live the rest of her life differently.
Fernando got a taste of the same treatment he gave Luisa, and has been royally swindled for his lust-addled stupidity. He now knows who Teresa really is. What will he do now?
Looks like the only baddie left is Teresa. And we are all wondering how she will be "paid back" especially as she has now committed the usually unforgivable TN sin of denying her parents - in her mother's presence no less!!!
Paquita - I SOOO enjoyed your wonderful snarky Teresa recaps. And it was such a hoot today to witness you so totally shocked by the plot developments. I'm glad you called it like you experienced it. Great finishing recap.
Audrey
Sometimes you get into the details of the story and forget that you are engaged because the premise is well conceived and the acting is well done. Teresa is that. We in viewerville differ on many issues in Teresa because there is no clear answer. I understand how this new younger viewpoint would cause generational problems, just a few years ago the Mexican culture was very strict ( like I grew up in!) so the change has to be very hard. I'm sorry to hear about the incidence of depression, that isn't good! I had forgotten that you had told us that Teresa was timely in portraying what is happening in Mexico. Again THANKS for giving so many of us novela scoops, you are building a great reputation around here with your advise.
Floridia, always so glad when you drop by!
Who actually got mariano to go back to school, honestly ? teresa
Who got boring aurora to recognize that mommy dearest was only after her money ? teresa
Who got Arturo to fall in love again, to open his heart again yes under false pretenses at first but she eventually did at the end? She got in between and took a bullet for him! teresa
Who turned luisa into this beautiful classy woman instead of a nun ? teresa
who helped mayra find the truth about her husband and find true love? teresa
who got mariano out of jail and it is thanks to her that espe has her son back ? teresa
I know my girl is a little off but come on she is fun, exciting, smart, surprising, sassy, she also gets emotional, she struggles with feelings, not the typical villain, she can be sweet and bitter and that is why i like her.
i just didnt like how refugio and juana were treated. Everyone else was warned so too bad.
people it's only a novela lol have some fun.
ser o no ser she is !
At which she tried to make Mariano out to be a sick stalker.
When she realized that Fernando was richer than Arturo she started coming ion to him during the honeymoon.
Getting Arturo drunk and making it look like he committed an act of violence to give herself an excuse for a divorce action wasn't mala?
Her sociopathy is greater than the sum of all her wrongdoings. Any good she did anybody was merely an accidental byproduct of an act of evil.
She may not have committed homicide, but she has definitely commited almacide.
Jarocha, I love and really appreciate your perspective and data from Mexico, it gives these Novelas more substance!
I might be visiting Mexico City in February, where can I check to see if any of my telenovela stars will be performing on stage. Like Angelique did a few months ago?
The 1989 version was 4 years before my novela-viewing time. I doubt that there would have been 3 different endings because nothing was really done that way in those days. I think we will see more of this from this time forward because of the different start dates in the other countries that see novelas. No matter what anyone does, these episodes will be leaked to video sites.
Esmas.com doesn't allow US residents to view videos on their site. That must be by agreement with Univision so their ratings don't suffer.
I simply can't get over Teresa! I think she is mala, mala, mala, but each time I think of one of her antics (especially in this most recent episode) I just stop and exclaim, "I can't BELIEVE her!" with a sort of astonished snort. She is SOMETHING ELSE!!!
I can hardly wait to see how the finale pans out. I hope for a redemption, but she has to suffer first. I don't know how they'll cram that into a two-hour finale, maybe we'll have to secure our beanies really tight, but I'd love it if they could pull it off. But she has to SUFFER SUFFER SUFFER because she is OVER THE TOP!!!
I can't feel sorry for Fernando, not too much, but still I couldn't believe how she dumped him! Not even any pretense at regret. She was enjoying every bit of it.
SHE IS SO MALA!!! LOL.
Thank you again to all the other recappers and commenters. Your recaps and opinions have been so enlightening. This has been one fantastic novela and is fascinating to discuss.
SHE IS SO MALA!!! I have to say it again.
Scarlett's first marriage (Charles Hamilton) was also so save her wounded pride after Ashley announced his engagement to Melanie. She had to make it look like she didn't care.
Rulli's acting in this has been so good. His leap across the balcony railings was fabulous!
I liked Boyer very much as the gypsy girl longing for love and family in Corazon Salvaje. I could cheer for her with a clear mind. As Teresa, I enjoyed her quest for a better life, but didn't care for her methods.
Her rejection of Refugio and Juana was horrible and heart breaking. I will be watching Monday to see what happens.
La Paloma
La Paloma, thank you for posting. That is how I remembered Scarlett's reason for getting engaged to Charles Hamilton. But I no longer have a copy of GWTW so I couldn't verify it!
I loved the liver snack dog treat references! Hahaha that was too funny!
I have a hard time believing that Fernando is just going to walk out of the house and that's the end of it. No way. If I were her, I'd get out of town fast.
I would say Teresa's "abuse" of Oriana while she was in her hospital bed was not as bad as what Oriana dished out to Teresa (when Teresa got shot).
I can't believe Teresa liquidated Fernando's businesses, and obviously she plans to keep the proceeds. I just can't believe it. That's just soooo mala.
She has elevated the art arribista-ness. Other arribista's aspire to be as arribista-ee as Teresa. She's an arribista's arribista.
I really wanted to see some kind of punishment for Geno. I too am disappointed that we didn't get to see her get arrested.
I'm a little surprised Teresa told the magazine chick that her parents are both dead, right in front of Refugio! But then she has always shown a disdain for her roots and always talked down to Refugio.
I am surprised, however, that Refugio didn't start hyperventilating again. Lately the writers seem to have Refugio hyperventilating at the slightest provocation. It's like, hey Refugio, it's partly cloudy and 70 degrees - AHHHHHK! - and she starts to have another frackin' attack.
In the last scene, I thought Teresa looked hot in that blue dress. She's an arribista, but she's got what it takes, if you know what I mean.
Heck, I'll be her sugar-daddy for a while; at least until she depletes my bank account and drains my life essence. But hey - chicks do that normally anyway.
I can't believe some of you still think Ter can be redeemed, and in 2 hours no less! She is simply a horrible person that deserves to live a very lonely life. I don't think there is any ending that will satisfy the viewers at this point. The best ending may be to show us everyone's lives 10 years from now. I always enjoy when movies list the actors at the end and what they are doing today, Like in Animal House.
There's no comparison between Scarlett and Ter. I loved Scarlett and absolutely hate Ter. Scarlett was tough, a hard worker and was good to those she loved. Ter is a mooch and only loves Ter. What a waste of an attractive intelligent person!
I did feel terrible for Refugio. Imagine losing a daughter and husband and then realizing your only other family member tells others you're dead. I don't think I would ever forgive her for that.
Jarocha, I always enjoy your comments about Mexico. I love Mexico. I think it's a beautiful country and I'm very sorry about all the drug problems right now. I'm also sorry to hear about a young somewhat depressed generation. I think our youth is in a similar position. Kids are graduating college, full of debt and no job prospects, not a good scenario.
Well let's hope Monday doesn't disappoint.
More later. Gotta read through 70 comments!!
When Teresa had on the black dress with the plunging neckline that barely contained her silicone implants (as compared to Juana's which do seem to be her own), believe me when I tell you that I thought both you AND Refugio were going to start hyperventilating!!!

Elvira, Kristoise, SharkByte: your takes (and 'puter technique) on Tere the Terrible were to die for, not to mention the sub 'cappers like SandyTN and Julia were top rate also. You all have made this one of the best telenovela experiences ever!
The commentors have all been terrific as well, especially because their opinions have covered the entire spectrum. That makes a blog really rock 'n roll!

UrbanA: Loved your Spanish lyrics. BTW, I once saw Carmen done in Paris by the Paris Opera Co. and read along with the electronic French translation (it was supposed to have been in English, so go figure) on the screen above the stage. The story, the music and the absolute harmony between the lyric, the storyline and the music actually brought me to tears in the end. It was one of the most marvelous experiences of my life--and I am not generally partial to opera! I wonder if the writers are in tune with your take on it and it turns into a Carmenesque finale.

Looking forward to (the recap of) Monday night's finale. You guys are the greatest.
¡Abrazos, amiga!
I am using justin.tv to see both CME and Teresa.
www.justin.tv
In the search box, write in 'univision'. All of the live feed for Univision will be shown. There will be feeds from both the east and west coast.
I've been able to catch Univision Pacifico in time to catch everything as it runs live. Univision este has already played the TN by the time I leave the office and arrive back at hotel.
Univision Pacifico is Channel 34 in Los Angeles.
Hope this works for you. I am just hoping that there are no wifi glitches or I will be very upset!!
Susanita
I noticed that Uni will air the Teresa finale at both 8:00 p.m. and midnight on Monday.
Shark, I agree that Ter looked great in that blue dress ( except for her face). As a matter of fact, yesterday I saw a Spanish movies where the 2 stars wore a lot of cute dresses and I decided to start wearing more dresses. It was a really wacky comedy. I recommend it for those of you that like European flicks, very different. The stars aren't all gorgeous like in the US and Mexico. It's called "una hora mas en Canarias" or "with or without love" in English.
Teresa has been a fun and well done novela to watch. It's great to share different perspectives on why she does what she does. Teresa is interesting, but not admirable. At the end of the day, her actions speak louder than any lies she tells. Even the few supposedly 'good' deeds were done for her benefit...

past and present. I am plugging away at speaking Spanish and recently joined a Spanish book club at the local library. We read one book per month and discuss it at the monthly meeting. I have met several fascinating people there - all native speakers but two. Through this group, I have found a tutor
who is from Mexico - has lived in Florida for 22 years. She and her husband are parents of a genius daughter who just graduated from Florida Atlantic University at the age of 18, doing high school and college simultaneously
with a double major in political science and sociology. This woman has agreed to help me improve,
and I am very excited about it.
You probably read one of the books - a classic, Marianela.
Sandy and all - I've been bonded with you since LVO. Thanks again to Jarocha for recommending it.
I wasn't crazy about Mi Pecado, however. Wish you could have watched DA; two months
remaining with that one.
Still loving all the emotionally charged comments.
Thanks, Vivi for the recipe -- no time to make it for the Finale, pero un día. I see that it is incredibly rich!
Very much looking forward to reading the comments after the
Big Event tomorrow evening.
Sandy: My mom watched it but I couldn't because it was on at noon here. She liked it alot at the begining but seemed less enthusiastic about it towards the end although she never stopped watching.
I don't think I have any novela right now to suggest once those currently on Univision are over. I'm watching La Que No Podía Amar but I've finally decided that I wouldn't exactly considere it good, just entertaining in a guilty pleasure way. I like the actors and the story in general but some things and choices are over the top.
I really want to see the remake of Cañaveral be just as good as the original but I'm not feeling the production yet.
Elle: I don't know where on the net you could check out the times and plays but probably the mexican journals like El Universal, Reforma or La Jornada have some info in their pages. If not, you could buy them in any newstand and they have the listings so you can check them out. Good luck on your trip!
Thanks for the feedback on the intergenerational problems we have here. I had to mention it because as I said before, I think that conflict has had to do alot with Teresa's success over here.
Floridia: The story of your friends was nice. I read Marianela in middle school. It is a nice story, there's was a telenovela made about it in the 80's I think.
Jarocha
i have been reading the recaps and comments as i catch up and they have been awesome as usual, and i am looking forward to everyone's reaction as much as i am looking forward to the finale.
happy viewing tomorrow night (or whenever it may be) everyone!!
Vivi - thanks for the recipe, it looks marvelous! Can't wait to try it.
I don't recall seeing many people who really "hate" Teresa but she is quite hard to relate to because she is very narcissistic. Teresa feels more important than everyone else, feels she deserves things she really doesn't, etc. I believe that Aida and others were catalysts to Teresa's current path, an accelerant to the fire so to speak, but she was already heading that direction. Can Teresa be redeemed? I know many of you don't think so, but she's never really been hit emotionally the way I think she may be now after the dirtiest deed of all. She's always had at least a handful of people in her corner. What will happen now that none (I'm guessing) will be? After what she did to Juana and her own mother, I can't see Aurora or Espe or even Paty wanting anything to do with her. Taking Fernando's money would ostracize even more people... rich and alone. Would that be enough to trigger a change in her? Right now I hope so, because I still see the potential in her if she can learn to play well with the other children. At other times I want her to reap what she's sown. I don't think she deserves to die, but I wouldn't be surprised if she pushed the wrong buttons to end up that way. Man I can't wait til tomorrow!!
I just saw on Univision schedule that Teresa Final will play 3 times this week.
Monday, Friday and Saturday.
Do you think they might be giving us all three endings? Or just repeating the Monday ending twice?
Diann
As for her finally turning the corner, I still think that if Oriana hadn't goaded Arturoa all along, or if he hadn't tried to take out his jealousy and anger over Mariano by putting her through one loyalty test after another, and if he'd shown more gumption and had fire enough in his belly to accept the financial assistance of Fernando and his mother, Teresa would have kept her baser instincts under control. He was/is too weak-willed for her and another mismatched love. Tragically so.
She may go to jail if the class schedule is found in Fito's apartment, or she may lie her way out of it again & because he was blackmailing her, karma just may be on her side and she'll skate through all of that.
Not that this would necessarily work in the Internet Age. We'd need to add plastic surgery to that list.
But he would have to file immediately.
She needs to get out of town or pay someone to protect her. It wouldn't hurt to change the locks too.
Good luck with tonight's party.
One more comment I've been meaning to post: did anyone else find it hilarious that Ruben went to Teresa's house brandishing a weapon and he was going to....what? have her write a few checks? QTH?! too funny.
The real mystery is what was he going to do afterward? Was he going to leave Genovenom in the dust, head somewhere else under a new identity, and troll for a wealthy woman dying for a ready-made family?
Which amounts to putting Ruben on a leash, which to him would feel like having his cojones in a vice.
Also, disappearing like that would prevent Geno being able to convince the police that she killed Fito in Ruben's defense. She doesn't deserve prison time for that, but for her role in the kidnapping of Rodrigo.
Jarocha: If you're still here, what is the usual prison sentence for a kidnapping like this?
allies, they only have suspicions but no one knows what really happened ? that sucks
