Cuando Me Enamoro #141 Friday 11/4/11 Fina Fools the Shrink, Leaves the Clink with a Wink.

Estimidos amigos! I was drastically behind this week and forcibly incomunicado. Even if my comments are absent, I'm still reading and appreciating everyone's hard work. Now, let's get started...

Jero admits to Nata that he slept with Marina because he felt rejected and hurt; he took refuge in Marina the same way that Nata did with Augie. Nata tells him she never slept with Augie. Jero apologizes and understands why Nata's feelings He was honest with Marina from the start about what their relationship was. None of that matters now, says Nata. Maritata is expecting his babies regardless. Jero assures Nata that they can face the future together. Nata wants to believe him but she is terrified that they won't be able to withstand it all. Jero holds her close and comforts her.

Augie asks Zeke if anyone has heard from Arely. He lectures Zeke on loyalty and I start fearing for his life.

Things have lightened up tenfold over at Jero and Nata's. They enjoy breakfast in bed and several flirty kisses. Nata hurries off to shower and Jero waxes poetic about becoming a father.

Chema's Padre and Adriana show Chema around his new restaurant. Needless to say, he is in love with the place.

He-Who-Should-Be-Pushing-Up-Daisies sneaks into a legitimate Doctor's office to steal money out of the safe.

All the ladies of the hacienda help Karina prepare for her wedding. She looks radiant.

Jero checks in with Marina. She is excited but nervous about having twins. They will need double the care and love. Jero agrees to help her every step of the way. He wants to cover all the expenses concerning their children. Marina softens to the idea.

Nata meets with Roberta in the hospital waiting room. Berta can't waste a good opportunity to pour salt in Nata's wounds about the twins. She calls Marina a home-wrecker but Nata doesn't feel that way. Nata and Jero were separated when Marina got pregnant. "But how can you accept it?" Berta asks. "Marina has already done your job by giving Jero children. And any babies you have with him will probably be born crazy like your mother." Oh, as if we needed more proof that Fina's viciousness is genetic. She's sitting right there on the couch talking out of her...uh...big mouth.

The psychiatrist looks over Fina's file and worries about her state of mind. Fina stares off unresponsively.

Nata begs Berta to keep a lid on it about the twins. Berta agrees but not before asking why Nata thinks Augie is a murderer. Nata tells her to keep her lip zipped about that too. Berta calls Augie to debrief him on the fact that Nata thinks he is a murderer like Fina. She warns him that if he doesn't clear his name soon, his plan is going to fall through.

Regina, Constanza, and Nata visit Gonzo. He's allowed to return home that very day! The ladies tell Nata that the Monterrubio Mansion is now Nata's. Nata how considerate Gonzo is but she doesn't need the house. As they continue talking, Nata succeeds in making Gonzo smile in his slumber.

In a montage of the next day, we see the doctor freaking out about his empty safe, Lazaro and Carlos fiddle around in the lab and Carlos injures himself, Gonzo is brought home and is comforted by his family, and Fina is evaluated by the prison psychiatrist. Fina whispers "I am Regina Soberon!" Hmm. This bit seems so rushed and out-of-place it makes me wonder if they cut scenes and edited this together to speed things up.

Nata and Jero arrive at the hacienda and are greeted warmly by Carlos and Matilde. Jero teases Carlos for how accident-prone he's been recently. Mati questions Nata about her family.

Meanwhile in the D.F, the day of Fina's sentencing has finally arrived. Regi & Antonio, Ines & Isidro, and Hon & Con wait with baited breath to hear the verdict. The judge declares Fina mentally unstable and decides to have her sent to the female manicomo. The Monterrubios and Friends are outraged and Regina bursts into tears. Fina sneaks a wink at Regina, which goes unnoticed by the cops and the press.

Alone in her room, Berta revels that Fina is going to spend the rest of her days behind bars. Though a momentary shadow of sadness crosses her face.

Regina cries to Connie and Ines about Fina's wink. She wonders what Fina would have to gain by playing crazy if she was going to be in jail regardless. Connie is sure it's because Fina will be treated much more gently in the madhouse than in prison. "How can the experts be so fooled by her?" Connie (and the audience) wonders. Regina takes small comfort in the fact that Fina will be in jail for life. Fina giggles in her mind. "You think this is a goodbye, but it's only a 'see you later', Regina. And to the rest of the Monterrubios!"

Matias gives Gonzo an iPad-like computer so he can type out his thoughts and listen to music. Of course, the song that's played is the Gonzo/Regina love theme. I have to wonder why no one thought to get one of these back when Connie was the mute in the family but I digress.

Matias promises Gonzo that Fina is going to jail and will never hurt any of them again. The entire family is going to support Gonzo's recovery. Mat reminisces about when he was a kid. He and Gonzo went fishing together and everyone called Gonzo "El Priata" (The Pirate) because he was always looking for treasure. Mat says the greatest treasure is the love and care that Gonzo has given him throughout the years. D'aww.

Regina speaks to the press about the crummy verdict. Monterrubio and Co. regroup outside. Antonio tells everyone that he is going to continue on the path to becoming a priest. He's going to study in a parish in Ensenada, mostly because Nata and Jero live there. As everyone strolls away, Regina can't get Fina's wink out of her mind.

La Bonita is all aflutter about the wedding. They're preparing a gorgeous outdoor ceremony and everyone is hard at work arranging chairs and setting tables.

Matilde and Alfonsina chat with Karina and tease her about pre-wedding jitters. Karina decides once and for all that Doc Nesme is dead to her. I can't imagine a better wedding gift than his head on a silver platter.

Leoncio greets the Disaster of Disguise at a bus stop. Leo will get paid for his efforts so long as he doesn't get cold feet.

Nurse Elsa convinces Marina to go to the wedding. Marina worries about seeing Nata and Jero there together but decides to go after all.

Zeke assures Augie that Nata and Jero will be at the wedding. Augie sniffs his magic bottle of perfume and lusts after Nata.

Nata calls Connie to ask about Fina's sentencing. Yep, Fina is going to be shacked up in the wacko-basket for life. Connie is hopeful that the nightmare is finally over. They can all move forward. Nata is still depressed by the news that her mother has completely lost touch with reality.

Regina returns home and happily hugs Gonzo. She tells Matias about the verdict and doesn't tell the Monterrubio men about the wink to avoid worrying them.

The cops take the handcuffs off Fina and leave her in the manicomo lawn. She and Blanca congratulate each other on their villainy. Blanca has the director under her thumb and will put in a good word for Fina. They agree to start their revenge immediately. Their first targets? Constanza and Regina.

Leoncio flags down an unsuspecting driver and Doc Nesme (who looks like a reject from a boxing ring) clocks the guy with a stick. Doc steals his clothes and glues a dollar-store costume beard to his face. He just won't give up on Kari. Blech.

Manuela delivers Karina's freshly pressed wedding gown. She's positive the wedding is going to be marvelous because Laz and Kari's love has withstood so many obstacles. Setting anvils up to watch 'em fall!

Fina is unsettled that Berta has not come to visit her. She has to get Berta back on her side.

Oh, what a lovely image to end on. Augie huffs his happy juice and looks back longingly on the time he chloroformed Nata. He gets crazier by the capitulo.

Avances: Renata is surprised to run into Marina at the wedding. Doc Please-Stop-Breathing-Our-Air interrupts the ceremony, grabs Karina, and shoots into the crowd. Ay, por favor! Another shooting at a wedding?!

Vocab:
cojeando - limping
guinarse - to wink
¡Me guiñó el ojo! - She winked at me!
tesoro - treasure

Love it! Love it! Love it! Thank you, AmyAzul. Your recap had many highlights, but I especially liked: no better wedding gift than Nesme's head on a silver platter.

Your lovely paragraph about a lovely image to end on was so cute. From Augie huffing his happy juice to he gets crazier by the capitulo.

Well, that wink was something else. Chilling. Poor Regina is going to have that seared on her eyeballs everytime she closes her eyes.

I guess I am rooting for Dr. Tatas to stay in Ensenada. I do not want to risk the chance of them separating the twins from one another. Would they do that? Have Jero and Renata raise one and she take the other to the DF?

Renata and Marina in their matching dresses looks like a funny sidenote to an awful upcoming wedding. Laz was looking dapper though. Hopefully he won't get any blood on that uniform.

So much to talk about. Glad we have the weekend to do it.

Rosemary la Otra

My goodness you got this up quickly! After a long day I was so in the mood to watch tonight's episode, enjoy your recap and totally veg out. Thanks Amy, you rock.

Awesome title.

I liked the triptych split screen effect that moved the various plots along through their slow parts. Nice touch.

Possibly favorite line: "She's sitting right there on the couch talking out of her...uh...big mouth." Hee, I was wondering where you were going with that amiga.

Sheesh, Caros injured himself again? I don't think Matilde is the one with the curse.

Amy, Fina's pronouncement that she is Regina Soberon is part of her plot to be diagnosed a loca. She made the original announcement during her trial a couple of days ago so that she could go in the loony side of jail and hook up with Blanca.

Hahahahaaa!! No. Effin. Way. I love Disaster in Disguise but I think he is channeling Doc DaddyYankee or Doc TryingToBeJustinTimberlake.

Was Augie's fantasy a memory or a hope of things to come? I don't remember him drugging Renata. I think he was having a hopeful fantasy, and that would be totally gross. I've had a lot of fantasies but drugging someone and dragging them off to my cave has never been one of them.

Wow, the previews look insane. I don't even want to speculate. No blood on Lazaro!!

What a funny twist having Nata and Tata in matching outfits.

ROL, I want Tatas to stay in Ensenada too and I want her to be well and happy. I like her. I do not see the twins being separated. I think one of the morals of this story is that family should not be separated. But who cares what I think? We'll have to see how this plays out.

Thanks Amy. What a fabulously fun recap!

Cute title, Amy..I always like the rhyming one.

And I'm right there with Sylvia on "Berta talking out of her big...mouth". Sassy writer that you are.

Ugh. Such an unlikable character, our Roberta. Somehow I find her meanness to her sister even more odious than Fina's homicidal jaunts. Guess it seems more real to me; I've never personally known an actual killer.

Missed the episode but Renata and Marina have on matching outfits! Not a good sign. As an indefatigable matchmaker, I suggest hooking Marina up with that hot detective now on the Fina case. I think he could borrar the memory of Jeronimo super fast. Would for me anyway!

Amy- I love the title and the rest of your wonderful recap. Thanks amiga.

Augie remembered when he kissed Nata when she was unconscious, AND had a fantasy about kidnapping her from the upcoming wedding, spraying himself with Jero's scent, and ravishing her. Man, that guy gets creepier by the second! I hope that since they showed us his fantasy plan, that now it won't actually happen.

I'm glad that Jero and Nata managed to get past this speed bump for now. They're taking it step by step, as they should. No making rash decisions based on one bad day. But after having this issue being so fresh, seeing Marina at the wedding, wearing nearly the same dress, is NOT going to make Nata very happy or comfortable. But they'll all have bigger things to worry about with Nesme making an appearance and Augie lurking around for an opportunity to grab Nata. Ugh!

What can I say about Roberta? That girl never fails to take an opportunity to stick the knife into her sister, and twist.

Seeing how fast his dad is moving in making the restaurant thing happen (Chema's biggest dream), I was a little bit on board with the lies till he dies plan last night. Chema was so happy!

Oh, one thing. What Augie asked Zeke was if he told anyone about Arely (since he ordered Zeke to kill her). He also asked if anyone has mentioned to him the argument Augie had with Arely in the town square, but Zeke said people don't gossip to him about Augie, since he's his boss. Augie's trying to figure out who Nata and Jero think he killed, and how they know. I'd be peeing my pants if I were Zeke, but he kept his cool pretty well.

Ah, Amy, superb!! I only caught about 15 minutes last night, but your recap let me picture all the rest in great detail. THough, the matching dresses, oh gees..that I would have been fun to see.

I agree on Berta.Anyone's hopes she would ever "redeem" I think can see there is no plan to have her move from this intense desire to destroy her sister. It seems to feed her more and more every episode. I agree with you Judy, it is more chilling. Knowing that HonCon seem to be on to her makes me feel better that someone is watching her and not trusting this "new" version of the loving sister/daughter.

We're supposed to hate Fina, and Blanca for that matter, but anyone else actually looking forward to watching these two plot and plan together? And if we're lucky destroy each other...

As for not liking to watch anymore, glad I missed the Auggie fantasy of the night sequence. So help me, we get that looney drugging/dragging our Nata away...I'll be hopefuly our writers will surprise us and not go that cliched route. (Shades of STUD.)

We knew Dr. WeddedBlissInterruptus would pull stopping the wedding, but again, writers please, Kari has been there done that with this guy. Knock him off already.

Good weekend all.

Dear Amy, thanks for such a quick and marvelous recap.

Vivi covered the FlashFront of Augie's fantasy of ravishing Nata and covering his tracks by using Jero's manly perfume.

It was such an obvious set up while Nata & Jero were doing their flirty stuff and she commented that she had that morning smell and needed a shower and he said he lurrvd her morning smell. She then said here he was all dressed and natty and smelling so goooood. Of course, it's your favorite, he says.

After she goes off to take her shower, Jero is so conflicted that his joy over having twins is something he has to reign in when with Renata. There are things he just won't be able to share with her.

Maritata may be getting a mistaken impression regarding Jero's excitement over these babies. I hope she can take the disappointment when Jero and Nata stay together.

Nesme's disguise made him look like the Neanderthal Man in those commercials.

Roberta was worse than her usual self. She even told Nata that she should be happy that Marina is having Jero's twins, because...now her job is done. She doesn't need to give him any babies at all because he'll already have some. In addition, she'd be avoiding the little problem of crazy-like-granma babies.

Oh the dresses. Maybe the best thing that can happen is that Augie mistakes MaritataGrande for RenatataMedium and grabs the wrong red dress.
NOK

Great job Amy. I always look forward to your end-of-week recaps. What a great way to kick off my Sat. mornings.

Vivi, you called it perfectly. Not only did Jerry believe that Renata had been intimate with Augie, when she set him straight... as you reported:

"Nata looks at him like he has two heads and says she has NEVER been intimate with Augie."

... he seemed genuinely surprised:

"¿Jamas?"

Idiot!

Perhaps the only bigger idiot is Renata who keeps taking this jerk back. Should be fun when Marina's due date arrives and he wants to be in the delivery room. Maybe all three of them can get together for that.

Augie's plan is creepy and chilling, but at least it doesn't involve Gitana.

Carlos

I'm just a lurker in the middle of you experts, but there are some things about this story that frustrate me.

This Renata character...some here have made comments that once she 'gives' the Jeronimo character the babies he wants, things will be ok.

Why is this so? In the few novela stories that I have seen, it does appear that most of the main characters want children, but is this always the case?

Why does the Renata character HAVE to give this man children? Does this suddenly make her a whole and complete woman because she has satisfied HIM?

If I were the Renata character, I would be asking this Jerk why he had to find consolation in another woman when the ink was barely dry on the annulment? His weak excuses to her (that he was lonely, alone, etc) are so weak that they are laughable.

I think I would be taking a second look at this guy. If this were real life and I were the Renata character, the news of those twins would not make me happy especially if I had to stand and watch a man carry on about his happiness over that news right in front of me.

Me, personally? I would walk away and let him have his inappropriately dressed, whiny doctor woman who seems to think that a one night stand on an office desk is LUV.

I would also tell everyone who was telling me that 'in time' I would love and enjoy those twins to go jump off the nearest cliff.

Comments like those are just plain stupid. How does that make anything better? Really?

Thank you to the author of the recap. You write very well.

I am hoping that between now and the delivery date, Marina and Renata bond and Marina invites Renata, as the soon-to-be loving step-mom, into the delivery room.

Maybe it will all be a non-issue if NOK's idea comes true and Augie grabs and drugs Marina instead. She could miscarry.

R la O

Anon, I thoroughly enjoyed all your questions and comments. They pretty much sum up the frustration of pairing a lovely lady like Renata with an ambiguous "good guy" like Jeronimo. For me Jeronimo has been, by far, the most difficult telenovela galan to embrace. Ever. In fact, Marta calls him the Anti-Hero. I (and most of us as I recall) loathed him for quite a while. You can probably tell by our comments that we are still not convinced he is the best thing for Renata. However she seems to have a thing for the guy and, by telenovela law, will likely end up with him and he will somehow be redeemed. Seems impossible right now, doesn't it?

R la O, I think the identical dress thing might put Marina in danger, but how could Augustin mistake their hair? Hopped up from sniffing perfume perhaps? I do NOT want anything bad to happen to those twins or to Marina for that matter. I'm not sure how this is going to resolve itself to Renata's satisfaction but we still have many episodes left.

Hey Anon! Yay! A new commenter. I don't think that everyone has been saying that Nata will be fine once she has her own bio children with Jero. But Nata herself said to Jero that it is really hard for her that Jero's first children will not be with her, but with Marina.

This babies with another woman situation is a hard one for sure. I think we all realize that, and that's why we're trying to come up with ways that will make the situation easier for our heroine, and for Marina too. I do appreciate that the writers are keeping it real. Jero didn't sleep with Marina because he was drugged or drunk. He did it out of weakness, loneliness and lust. The same reason why people sleep with people they shouldn't in real life. Nata's reaction isn't all Pollyanna sunshine (we'll all be one big happy family), or martyrdom (you should be with her because she's pregnant with your child). It's very real. She loves this man dearly. They made a decision to be together again and put the past behind them. He has been a rock of support since their reconciliation. But she acknowledges that this is not easy for her and that there are days when she doesn't think she can accept this situation. I appreciate this bit of reality. I felt like when that conversation ended, neither she nor Jero were sure about what is going to happen between them tomorrow, but they are going to try to make it work and take it a day at a time.

I'm not sure there is anything Jero could do or say to justify sleeping with Marina. Other than the fact that he and Nata were separated at the time and he had been handed divorce papers from Nata. He admitted he was weak and apologized. What else can the guy do? It's up to Nata, and Nata alone, to decide if she can forgive him, and I think she has. The next question is, can she get over the hurt and jealousy of watching him and Mairna have children together? I think Nata is strong enough, and has a big enough heart, to do it. She has also had a great example of a loving step-parent in her father Gonzo.

Right, Vivi, his excuses were realistic: they were separated, he'd received divorce papers AND she was engaged to someone else.

Wonderfully written recap, Ms. Azul. You had me from the title. That wink! It was better than a moustache twirl—no wonder poor Regina is haunted by it.

One chicken or egg question for the group...Is Carlos a special focus for his Mommy because he is so accident prone? I can't help but wonder. The psychologist in me is always looking for the character's (writer's) motives for behavior. Smile.

I agree completely with Rosemary La Otra and Sylvia that Dr. Marina should stay near the baby's dad. Too sad for the kids if they only got to see their (enthusiastic!!!) father on Holidays.

Sylvia, still sending you my kindest thoughts.

Elna june

One of the things that most irks me about the Marina/Gemelas story is not just THAT Jero hopped in the sack with sexy Marina, but that these two adults had UNPROTECTED relations.

There are many, many reasons here for Renata to bite a towel and scream.

EJ

Amy, thanks - I greatly enjoy your recapping style - in which you get it all done so succinctly.

Anon, welcome to the club. Come up w/ a name so we don't have to keep calling you "Anon" though, OK?

I'm still holding out for a Telenovela First, to wit, Jero realizes it just ain't gonna work w/ Renata. I know, I know. My dad had a good saying about wishing in one hand, etc. But, hey, if Jeronimo wants to live his life with all the anvils over his head, well, he's a big boy.

My man Alvaro, fo' shizzle! I liked the hoody & ball cap better than the laughable 70's wig and beard. And I had to wonder why he reached behind the painting (for a key?) when the safe had a digital keypad. Beany time!

Mike and all who cracked up at the Nesme masquerade debacle...

If I saw someone on the street in that beard, I would immediately dial 911. OTT, guys. We know Nesme is nutso but even he has enough sense not to find that costume convincing.

A LOL moment in the midst of impending doom.

Also, I HATED the Augie fantasy sequence. I was so creeped out by his sniffings and imaginings that I had to turn away from the screen. Seriously gross and disgusting.

Thanks, Amy! Uber Cute title indeed and cool, clean cap! Aye! Roberta seems to be trying hard each episode to mock those who would have her redeemed! Vicious gene is right, Amy! My only consolation is that despite all the money she (temorarily and potentially) has she duly notes that she is not deeply loved. Suffer, suffer, my darling! And the estupidos experts. Did anyone stop to consider the risk of incarcerating two people together who had both committed serious crimes against the same family? And they miss the wink? AND after everything that has happened Regina dismisses this obvious act of "passive" aggression on Fina's part as her own paranoia! OMG!!! Beeeeaannnie, where aaaaaare you?

Lila

Do you feel better now, Lila? lol Sometimes it's so hard for those of us on this side of the tv set! I swear we suffer right alongside our Renata.

Funny fo'shizzle comment, Mike!

Great recap and funny, funny title. How DO you guys do it?

And nobody made fun of Nata's shorts, stilettos, floppy blouse & red gloves outfit -- you are so much kinder than I.

EJ, I believe our two consenting adults did use protection -- there was some kind of conversational aside earlier on about how condoms don't always work, or something.

I love the idea of Augie grabbing the wrong girl! Here's hoping!

R la O! Thank you, yes, I feel better. there's just a whole lot of people that need to be lined up and slapped like Moe used to do! Just wait til Monday, even with the previews I think we're all going to be screaming through towels clenched in our teeth. Sheesh!

Lila

It's hard to believe anyone ever goes to a wedding without a bullet-proof vest, isn't it?

Welcome, Blue Lass, you said it. Somebody's rewriting the telenovela wedding ettiquette book! Eloping is starting to look mighty good!

Lila

Blue Lass - the only reason we didn't dis on Renata's shorts with tights outfit is that we were so happy she wasn't wearing her green tights that she is so fond of.

And the winner is.... AmyAzul!! Brilliant recap. If Televisa is smart they'll hire all the recapers as writers. Vivi and Rosemary L O,I loved your explanation to Anon. We sometimes forget why people do what they do and why. The main issue should be why a medical doctor is having unprotected sex with anyone.I am willing to bet she wanted to get pregnant. She fell for him the first day in MC and followed him to the village using a padre as cover. He was always honest about his feelings for Renata. I find their storyline very realistic.
Thanks again Amy

Lucy

Hey everyone, our own Audrey went to see the play ¡Manos Quietas! with Fernando Colunga and actually recapped it for us! I just posted it. Check it out.

Somebody already said it -- but let me repeat. Marina had a discussion with someone about how her birth control failed. So they weren't as irresponsible as it may seem.

Also Renata really threw Jero out. She totally rejected him and accepted Auggie's engagement ring. I think she regretted it immediately -- but Jero was feeling completely rejected when he succumbed to the lure of the Tatas.

Could Auggie get more creepy? All that sniffing and licking his lips at the thought of ravishing a drugged Renata was really disgusting. The flashback of the other time he had his way with a drugged out Nata ( well it was only a kiss but it was creepy) just shows that he'll take her however he can. Yuck!!!

BTW -- remember how Carlos kept telling us that the bad girl would turn good by the end of Gancho? I'm still rooting for a redemption for Berta, Hey we've got months to go yet.

Güera

I don't know. I keep wishing for Roberta to give in and enjoy her sweet life and the cool people who are in it, but she seems so determined to be estupida and mean.

Sylvia, I just read the other post of Audrey's that you put up. How fun! Now, if we can just get you to recap Labios Rojos!

Oh gosh, that was at least a week ago. Way too much stuff happened in the movie, lots of characters designed to drive poor Jorge Salinas crazy. I would have needed to take notes I think, which would have been OK since I was the only one in the theater. I could have worn my headlamp!

Amy Azul, Thank you so much for the recap. I came skidding into New Mexico in time to pick up Willa and rush home to record and see most of this episode. I have so much to catch up on. Looks like another doozy episode for me Monday night: the shame of wearight the same dress and me wishing Nesme would pull of that silly beard. I would even prefer those slick leisure suits he started out in so proudly in the early days, yeah the hoodie had a more wholesome look to it in a weird way.

And for Augie or former heartthrob, your sniffing ways are only growing more repugnant, ick. There are several unsavory scenes coming our way. I hope lots of fun ones too.

Did you all know that I met Jarocha in D.F.? She is too fabulous and we had a memorable time chatting in a cafe and seeing the museum of tolerance. I love Mexico, D.F. what a grand city. Oaxaca was also superb and I saw many of my favorite friends there but not all so need to go back soon.

Sounds wonderful, Cheryl/

So the Renata character 'consoles' herself by immediately becoming engaged to this bizarre Agustin person. Having sex with this wierdo sure didn't seem necessary for her.

The Jeronimo character 'consoles' himself by doing it on a desk top with a lonely hearts club, inappropriately dressed doctor who falls for him the minute she sees him.

So what if they were divorced, etc?! So what? The ink was barely dry and the jerk had to have sex with someone to 'console' himself.

I'm sorry, but if I were the Renata character that would be the one point that would stick in my craw. "I was so down in the dumps I had to have sex with the first woman I saw" (my words, not the character's) That plus watching the guy who is telling me he loves me more than anything get so excited whenever he talks to the woman he claims he didn't and doesn't love might make me think twice.

It would take me one darn long time to accept some other woman's kids as my own with this kind of scenario.

But hey...you guys are the experts.

Welcome back Cheryl! Isn't Jarocha such a lovely person? She radiates kindness. That's her in the pic with me in DC. She checked in with us and told us about your day together. It sounds like you had a wonderful trip.

Carlos- I'm glad Jero didn't take your advice from the other day and follow up the stupid "Jamas?" with, "That's not what Augie said." I thnk he would have ended up with that breakfast AND the tray over his head. ;-) He wisely followed his stupid question with "I'm sorry." and a bit of groveling.

Say...that last comment was not meant to be rude. Probably should have said that some of you are acknowledged by this group as being experts. You know more about these stories than I do. I just think this Jeronimo guy is a jerk even if he is kind of cute.

Hey Anon! Had you come onboard earlier, you would have loved joining us in our Jero/Jerko/Anti-Jero bashing. Those were the days when he was REALLY being a jerk (like, on purpose), and Augie was actually normal (seemingly) and charming.

I'm not sure of some if us here will ever forgive him from his early days of snap judgments, rage and emotional abuse of Nata. But I have to admit that since they have gotten back together, the guy has been a pretty good husband. He has lately made several faux pas about this baby thing (being too excited about it in front of Nata), but out of stupidity and a bit of insensitivity. Not out of meanness. He can learn and modify his behavior. (Usually the galan sees the baby by other woman as a burden and everything related to the child is negative. It’s actually nice to see the galan not heap the negativity on the babies who didn’t cause the problem.)

As for being experts in tns-- the thing is this situation is actually quite different than the usual tn. What would usually happen is that the baby really wouldn't be the galan's. He wouldn’t be happy about the child on the way. The other woman would be evil and conniving. The heroine would either become unreasonably angry and illogical, unrealistically happy/positive, or decide to sacrifice herself in the situation and let/encourage the galan to be with the other woman. None of that is happening. Instead we're seeing a normal mix of conflicting feelings and emotions.

I think these last two episodes show that Nata has exactly some of the thoughts and feelings you say you would have. Usually there is a predictable conclusion and set of reactions to this situation in tns. But right now we don't know how things are going to play out. Except for the main couple being together at the end.

Welcome back, Cheryl! We missed your kindhearted, compassionate comments on Roberta this week. So glad you had fun and got to meet up with Jarocha! Does she live there?

Well said, Vivi. Jero was a jerk, but, if he has gotten that out of his system, he is actually a good match for Renata.

We just can't despise Dr. Tatas. When she was talking to Alphi about Jero being at the boda and then she sweetly asked.. Y Renata? Her voice was so sweet and void of any amimosity. Were they not connected by this love triangle, I think the 2 ladies would have become dear friends. Maybe they still will. Lord knows, Marina needs a girlfriend so she can stop bawling to Alphi and Kari and her nurse and anyone who will listen.

As for Augie, the transformation he has made is simply a modern day Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde. Ugh... I dry heave when I think how we all thought he was tan guapo.

I say we all wear our red, one-shouldered dresses tomorrow! Carlos and Mike exempted.

Anon, I have been watching these telenovelas for a few years now, yet I still don't consider myself an expert on them. Far from it. I wonder if I ever will? Just when I think I have the formula figured out the writers throw something in to surprise us. Usually. We are not experts really, just people who have figured out this is a fun way to learn Spanish.

Jero (Juan Soler) is a handsome guy. I'm not sure I have ever seen a character look as great in a suit as he does. I think the wardrobe people must know this as he is almost always in a suit.

Cheryl, your visit to Mexico sounds fantastic. And you got to meet Jarocha! She sounds like such a compassionate, bright and interesting person in her comments. Everyone who meets her has wonderful things to say about her. What fun.

R la O, if I had a red one-shouldered dress I would definitely wear it tomorrow night! Maybe I have a red T-shirt among my vast collection of grays.

Rosemary La O, Jarocha is from Veracruz (hence her handle), but she's currently in grad school in Mexico City. She was in DC at Georgetown this summer as part of her program and that's when I met up with her. If you're looking for an expert in TNs, Jarocha is that expert! She grew up watching them and has a real appreciation for the artform, the actors, the directors, and all the behind the scenes work that goes into making them. She also happens to be a super intelligent young woman, who speaks multiple languages, has a keen insight into international relations, and will probably be part of Mexico's diplomatic corps someday.

Thanks, Rosemary la O! Really, red is just not my color.

Wow! Jarocha! You go, girl! To think we'll be able to say "We knew her when..."

Ya, Sylvia, I will probably just wear a red tee with one arm hanging out the neck to simulate an off the shoulder dress. Will this be the moment my husband finally says "Enough already!"?

Setting aside my red jogbra now...

You guys crack me up! Wonder what hubby will think if he sees me dolled up at 7 p.m. in a red, off the shoulder number watching Cuando! Hee Hee! Could be just what I need to keep my spirits up during all the sniffin' and snatchin' Awful Auggie and Alvaro are going to be dishin' out. Aaaaack!

Lila

You guys are all funny and witty. I will wear red tomorrow for sure but I will also have to put my arm through the neck hole.

I will be wearing red tomorrow in solidarity with Nata and Caray, Caray.

In fantasy land... if I were at the lovely wedding I would hope to distract Augie from his evillll intent...Unfortunately, I would not be able to use the ever-popular 'mistaken identity from the back ploy'. Although Renata and I share a hair color, somehow I don't think Augie—even totally jacked up on perfume and out of his little pea brain—could ever mistake me for Renata. The 8 inches in height and 40 pounds in weight difference would render me more likely to serve as a free safety in taking Augie DOWN as he tries to kidnap our dear heroine.

Sorry, I have been watching too much football this weekend.

Grrrr...

EJ

LOL EJ! You guys are cracking me up with these comments. I'll have to see what red number I have in the closet tomorrow evening.

Why do Carlos and Mike get out of the one shoulder red dress? The least they could do is put on a ugly fake beard.

Still pulling for Roberta. She was raised by Fina after all. She's just awkward and not used to being normal. I'm sure she'll come around and may be the one who solves whatever Augie-problem Augie is dreaming up (ick). Time to stand on her own two feet! Even if it is with her mother's ill-gotten gains. (gotta start somewhere).

Welcome back Cheryl. Your the photog, right? Mexico City is fabulous, but haven't gotten to Oaxaca yet and hope to see some great pics.

Hear, hear! Fake beards and/or bare shoulders for everyone!

I"ll do the fake beard. Mike can go bare shouldered!! Hope none of the neighbors drops by!!

But red simply will not go with those adorable turquoise ear rings you bought me in New Mexico...

Hee...you two! Take pictures. I promise we won't tell anyone else.

If the neighbors do drop by, you can blame it on telenovela induced wardrobe malfunctions.

You guys have been a blast this weekend! Thanks for the good time!

Let's see, I have a red all embroidered dress from Oaxaca but not one shouldered or a shapeless red tshirt from CBGB's the NYC Bowery St. jazz dive to commemorate a Burning Man art show some years ago that a friend was featured in. And I don't have a fake beard, maybe I can tie my hair under my chin while I type my recap. It seems like haloween and day of the dead will never end. What fun side lines this CME has produced, it's long enough to have driven some of us right over the edge.

Amy: This was marvelous.

I wasn't able to see this and I have to be in work to comment so thank you - I adored the title. As so many of your wonderful lines have already been quoted, I'll simply say I agree.

Wonderful recap and comments - what a happy way to start Monday.

Okay, the image of R la O sitting in her family room tonight in a red T with her arm sticking out of the neck hole finally drug me out of lurkdom. For the first time in my life I actually laughed at my computer.

I haven't commented before because I don't actually speak Spanish, and thus don't feel I have anything substantive to add. (I'm just fooling around with it to keep my retired brain from rotting).

The emotive TN acting style leaves little doubt as to WHAT happened, but I am usually at a loss as to WHY it happened, and so I am very appreciative of the recappers efforts. (I think I can remember getting good grades on term papers that were shorter than what you all produce every day.)

Anyway, thanks for the recaps and the zany comments.

David in IN

David in IN, Welcome!!! We're so glad you came out of lurkdom to join the fun. As you can see by Rosemary la Otra's picture she is quite the laugher herself so it's no surprise she continually elicits that response from the rest of us. I hope you feel compelled to comment again, we especially love the male perspective on the crazy goings on.

By the way, what will you be wearing tonight? Beard or off-the-shoulder number or both?

Hi Sylvia,

I am not a fan of facial hair, so that is out.

I think that if I borrowed on of my wife's outfits, that would make her think I'm crazier than she already does for watching TN's, and might cause her to schedule a marriage or sexual oriention counseling session.

So I'll probably go with a frumpy wool Einstein-looking sweater, but at the appropriate time, I will surreptitiously slide it off my shoulder.

David in IN

David in IN! Welcome!! I think watching telenovelas in a language on sort of or hardly or doesn't understand at all and then reading riotous recaps is about the best dang way to ward off brain rot there is!! I've added Globo novelas in Portuguese but, alas, there's no Caramba! blog (that I know of) for Globo shows so this is a real bonus and BIG TIME FUN!!

Lila

Lila, where do you get Globo novelas? I speak Portuguese. Sort of.

I used to watch a Korean soap when I lived on the West Coast, and it was great fun. We don't get that station in New England, though.

David in IN:

Welcome, welcome. One does not need to SPEAK Spanish to contribute to Caray Caray. Most of us here are still very much learners and find the combination of over the top TNs and great commenters to be very compelling. The recappers are the best!

But as Vivi has already said, this is a rather atypical TN.

We are delighted to have you join us. I predict that tonight your wife will see you slip that professorial sweater off your shoulder and sparks will fly. Quien sabe?

With a grin,

ElnaJune

This has obviously been a red-letter weekend. I nearly ruined the screen on my netbook with coffee this morning, laughing all the way from RlaO to David in IN (welcome) and ElnaJune. Mike and Emilia, you two are just tooooo muuchooo.

I checked my wardrobe for a red off the shoulder sheath, but no luck. I do have a red flannel dressing gown. It's not bullet proof. Don't suppose Manuela would let me in to the ceremony, so I'll have to sit on the sidelines and think about the sea of red in Carayland tonight.
NOK

My word verification is burgisi. So, if you don't have red, burgisi will do.

Yay David in IN! I am delighted to be the one who got you out and into our Circle of Amigos. I tend to have that effect on lurkers.

I like your idea of discreetly sliding your sweater off your shoulder. Start slow. Soon enough you'll be full-fledged loco like the rest of us. Only 3 months ago I had a job, family, friends. Now I have Caray Caray.

I loved your comment about our re-cappers producing daily term papers. They are so awesome and appreciated!

I think Cheryl is going to win the dress-up tonight with her red embroidered dress from Oaxaca AND her hair tied under her chin! That should be a good look.

Can't wait for the wedding! Will Laz and Kari be el marido y la mujer at the end of the day? Who gets shot? Will Kari have her breasts shiny again for the big event? Ay, muchas preguntas!

R la O

LOL NOK!

I plan to take a page from Cheryl's book and fashion the hair I already have into a sultry moustache. My husband already flees as soon as he hears the theme song; he can't flee any faster.

One of these days, Blue, he's liable to creep back in to see what the fun is all about!

Mike hasn't laid out his, ummm... wardrobe for this evening's fun. He probably won't dress for the occasion until after he gets back from visiting his mom in the nursing home. (Don't want them forcibly admitting him!!) Hey Mike!! Those earrings are MINE, by the way!

I'm going to have to go with the red t-shirt off-the-shoulder look.
Avert your eyes...

How about a couple of days where we all post photos of our outfits to our profiles??

Welcome David in IN from a fellow Hoosier and non-Spanish speaking TN watcher.

I have a red long sleeved shirt with 101 Dalmations frolicking down the front. Would that do?

Robey

Oh heavens, with an insanely busy weekend I hadn't had the chance to check in and see the zaniness that had arrupted. And to make matters worse, I wore PURPLE! As soon as I'm off work it's a quick change to me oversized red tee and sweats! (sory-hardly a sexy number, but it's the best I got.)

Welcome David!!! Welcome to our Telenova Support Group. We are addicted, but here, we're proud of it!! And don't hold back the comments because of language skills. When I started with Caray a few years back, Gracias and counting to ten (learned from Sesame Street with my kids) was my limit. Now I can freely curse in the language! Who needs Rosetta Stone?

Welcome again David in IN. I see you have the appropriate and requisite irreverence to jump into this group and swim with the best of us. Like Sylvia, I always particularly appreciate the male point of view on these mad proceedings. Hang on for more fun, this TN is definitely one of the mroe fun ones because it is well written and the acting is so good. Ypu've picked a great first TN if indeed this is your first.

Emilia, your profile is already in red, just drop it off one shoulder and you don't even have to change another thing.

Sorry for the bad typing in my greeting to you, David. I can think snarky thoughts a lot faster than I can type them..

Cheryl:

Welcome home, amiga. I think your red Oaxacan number sounds the most fetching of all the previously mentioned ensembles. I look forward to seeing your dress and to reading your recap of tonight's upcoming events. The anticipation is killing me.

And, Emilia, I'll post a photo in my 'fit in the day or so. DH should get a good laugh taking this pic.

EJ

Blue Lass! Sorry for the late response. Go to Novelas do Brasil - http://novelasdobrasil.weebly.com/ and follow the instructions. Let's keep it on the downlow, though, I'd simply DIE if I can't continue watching Fina Estampa. It is fantastic!! Globo novelas come on 6 days a week so it's intense but the stories are compelling, the acting superb: it's like watching a movie every night. My daughter, who speaks Portuguese, tells me one can also watch Globo novelas on Globo's site - http://www.globo.com/ Enjoy! but shhhhh, don't want that first site closed down!

Lila

Thanks, Lila! Mum's-the-palavra. ;}
