Cuando Me Enamoro #166 Tuesday 12/13/11 Jero’s a Zero. . . .Believe it or Not!

By Lila

Last episode’s overlap:  Big Mouth Bertha gleefully filling in Jutjaw on Renata’s pregnancy;  Oh no!  I “get” to see Prissybutt caress that doofus Carlos!  Oh, that WAS sickening!  Renata’s determination to go search for Jero herself is interrupted by the drunken Saul declaring they are victims of the same painful disgrace:  “Jero and Marina have run off together abandoning you and me!”

No, no, it’s a lie Renata coolly states.  Saul maintains it’s the truth, what does he have to gain by lying?  Matias forces Saul to plop down hard on the sofa which immediately launches him into a flashback of the tale he pulled out of his arse to tell Jero:  Jero and Saul are sitting in a café, Saul is telling Jero Marina doesn’t know we’re talking , he asks Jero to be discrete and gives him a piece of paper with the supposed address where he and Marina will be staying in D.F.  Jero further exposes the Achilles heel that got him in this mess:  I just couldn’t live in peace without knowing about my children!  I understand, trust me assures Saul.  Jero is easily taken in Saul’s confidence. [Insert your own epithet here].  In walks Tata herself, Saul feigns surprise and Tata is pissed at this paternalistic plotting!  Tata vows angrily she’s going to erase Jero right out of her life for ever!  Jero looks helplessly at Saul, like, help me out here, man.  Tata is in a tizzy!  She doesn’t want Jero to ever know anything about her or her children ever!

Back to the present Saul continues his lie that Marina became furious when Jero told her he was marrying Renata today, that it was after this news that Marina declared he would never see her or her children again.  Renata, Regina, Matias and Adri continue listening as Saul excretes his tale . . back to the flashback. . .Marina angrily accuses Saul of betraying her as she wads up the paper with the address and declares there is no way she’s going with him nor is she staying with Jero.  Saul is not very convincing and we see Renata, Regina and Adri are not buying his bull either.  He claims he bought two tickets and thought he’d convince her to change her mind during the flight but to his surprise. . .flashback again. . .  In the airport Saul pleads that everything he’s done he did for her and thought would be in line with her wishes.  The surprise:  there at the ticket counter is Jero.  Jero tells Marina he has decided he cannot live without knowing about and being close to his children.  He’s going to go with her but she must understand he can never, NEVER love her the way he loves Renata.  Marina makes sure he knows, it’s her and his babies or Renata and if he stays with her he can NEVER EVER look for her.  You’ve made this very clear, Jero states, very clear.  Where does that leave me?  I’m sorry, I’m going with Jeronimo.  Back to the present:  Just like you I was left cold, frozen.  I never knew Jeronimo could do just a thing, I only called him to help him. . .Saul klunks down on his knees on the floor.

No lo creo!  I don’t believe you, this is not the Jeronimo I know.  Regina backs her up as Saul continues his drunken swearing.  Finally Matt puts him out!  [Praise the Lord!]

Back to the main parlor of LB Renata’s resolve is dissolving as she mouths fervent prayers to the Virgencita, flanked by Adri and Regina reassuring her these were the words of a drunken a$$hole [well, they shoulda called him that.]  Matt cuts through the fearful trembling with this:  Renata, I’m not saying I believe this jerk, but there are some consistencies in his story:  Jeronimo did not return after talking to this dude.  I say we go to the airport and get a list of the passengers who took flights out last night.  This will settle all doubt!

Mati sits pensively on her bed.  Kari knocks and enters.  Any new of el hermoso? Mati asks.  No news.  Are you sad for him or for Carlos?  Kari knows suffering when she sees it and easily disarms Mati of her pouty armor.  Mati reveals that she caught Carlos and Prissy kissing.  Kari is visibly impactada. . .was he kissing her or was she kissing him Kari asks.  It doesn’t matter, don’t try to justify him. . .he’s been lying to me!  Mati would rather break it off with him now for good as she can’t trust him and doesn’t know what he’s capable of:  she’d rather be a nun or an old maid!

Out to Mexico City:  All right, Hon gives the Investigator a CD with a time-stamped recording of the security cameras at his house plainly showing Corina coming and going with the stolen Sandra Ortiz (Amparo) in tow.  Hon and the Investigator watch and it’s damn near a high school yearbook perfect shot of that horrid Corina carrying the stolen baby.  Oh. Hell. Yeah. Con’s lawyer knods his approval.

Meanwhile outside Regina’s Hope Ines explains to a group of women that thanks to Corina, the Center is closed and Constanza is in the clinker.  She asks their patience and one of the women wants to know how they can help.  Let’s form a posse and got that damned Corina!  One of them knows where she lives and they vow to haul the heffa in!

Back at the jailhouse the Investigator has finished viewing the security camera CD as Gonzo arrives.  Hon introduces them and the Lawyer lets Gonz know they have some video that may help exonerate Constanza.  Gonz has been thinking on the flight about why Corina would kidnap a baby and then take it to the Center and to Hon and Connie’s house?  This is the same question The Lawyer has had:  when someone has kidnapped an infant it is usually to sell it or to extract some vengeance upon them as was done to Regina, Gonzo adds.  He follows this train of thought with more conviction:  he thinks someone did this as an act of vengeance against Constanza and Regina.  But who?  Who would want to do such a thing queries Hon.  Uh oh!  A furrow grows in Gonzo’s brow as the drums swell and we are swept to Julieta’s apartment building.

Julieta takes to the stairwell just as the snake we love to hate exits the elevator.  Oh, wait, Julieta sees Roberta begin to unlock an apartment door opened by German, who greets her with a kiss and sweeps her inside.  Ah, I know this guy, but from where? Julieta muses.

Back at the den of iniquity Roberta is fishing for compliments and German is flashing back to his last attempted fling with a fine young thing.  [Oh no!  Anybody know the receptionist’s name?  This horn dog has been after her!]  He tries to talk Roberta into going away with him for the weekend.  What are you going to do with your mujercita?  Seems like she’s got you on a short chain!  Let’s make a deal, German counters:   How about you don’t mention my mujercita I don’t mention that you kept a client’s check that was supposed to go to Empresas Monterrubio?  What check she duh-mbly asks?  In a couple of sentences German let’s Berta know he’s not as dumb as she looks.  He knows all about the scam.  We got a deal?  [Y’all know the answer to that.]  German moves in and possessively pulls the cowed cow in, establishing his dominance with an unwavering glare.

Gonzo is talking to his sister, Cons through the bars.  [Gosh, I hope somebody brought poor Cons a pair of Nikes, house slippers, somethin’, a track suit, know what I’m saying?]  Think, think, he entreats Cons, do you have any enemies?  [My friends, feel free to rip this little interaction apart, “. .do you have any enemies?  Sheesh!]  Well, all I can think of is Fina and Blanca, but they’re locked up.  I thought so too but there must be someone else, someone who is so close to us that they brought a baby that was given our Mother’s name cries Cons.  Yes, I’m sure, says Gonzo, you were entrapped and I won’t rest til I find out who’s behind this!

We’re back at LaBonita having coffee with Regina and Antonio.  Regina remains incredulous of Saul’s story but Antonio, like Matt sees a glimmer of truth.  Jero came to the parsonage looking for Marina one day and she told him he couldn’t have his cake and eat it too:  he couldn’t have his wife AND the mother of his children in the same place.  Yes, that is the same thing this hombre, Saul, said.  Antonio you don’t think there’s any truth that he chose Marina asks Regina as Renata walks up.  Oh no!  Drum rolls us back to awful Auggie’s. . .

Saul is recounting Renata’s shocked disbelief at his tale of woe and betrayal as Auggie chuckles and rubs his paws together.  Yaaay!  Anibal approaches the door then stealthily listens near the threshold as Auggie congratulates Saul on a job well done and pays him and tells him to get lost from the Valle de Guadalupe.  I know now without a doubt that you are responsible for Jeronimo not returning to marry Renata, Papa, Anibal concludes silently.

Hoo boy, here comes Prissypants to pull Mati’s chain.  I’ve been looking for you to thank you for realizing that you couldn’t compete with me.  [Insert nasty, cattish meowing]  It’s clear Carlos needs a woman like me, not a little nothing like you!  Mati has no comeback and breaks down almost before Prissy’s stench can waft from the room.  I hate you Prissy, because everything you said is true.  I couldn’t compete with you, I’m not at your level.  Dang!  [EJ, we got another client for ya!]

[Renata’s been holding up pretty good thus far and I’m not feeling as anguished as I thought I might but this doesn’t look good.]  Regina, Adri and Tony are with Renata in the parlor when in walks and limps Matt and Carlos.  What has happened demands Renata.  We didn’t find Jeronimo but we found his truck in the parking lot of the airport in Tiajuana.  It had been there since yesterday night Carlos reports.  We were able to look at the passenger list and confirmed that Jeronimo took the same flight last night that Marina took Matt solemly states.  They went together to Mexico City.

Adri gasps and Renata takes a breath too shallow to support her frame, we hear the muffled, plaintive pounding of her heart as she collapses in a heap to shouts as everyone dives to keep her off the floor.  The haunting heart pounding continues to sound. . .oh no!

Maybe it’s good that we’re back in the kitchen.  The wise Kari continues to counsel Mati. . .hmmm, we’re snatched away in less than ten seconds.  Renata is still not responding to her friends frantic efforts.  Adri runs for alcohol.  Antonio and Matt carry Renata to the bedroom.   Well, seems this is flashback city.  Auggie remembers hearing the news of Renata’s pregnancy from Berta.  This was not in my plans. [Sheesh, his tought bubbles are even nasty]  I don’t want you to have anything of Linares let alone this brat.  I’m sorry Renata but this bastard disturbs my plans!  [Thus Auggie signs the deed for prime acreage in HELL!]

Renata has regained consciousness and is sitting up in bed.  Antonio wants to call in an OB (Tata’s OB) to examine her.  He wisely advises the fainting could be due to her pregnancy but it could be something else including a congenital heart defect like your sister has.  At first she answers no to Tony, that she never had heart problems then she remembers the car accident and the heart episode she has.  This comment goes straight to Regina’s heart and she alerts to this statement with great interest.  She recalls she was supposed to have an electrocardiogram but didn’t (flashback a-gain to a scene with Dr. Crotchrot, Areli, Auggie and Renata in a neck brace discussing the need for the ecg).  Regina and Tony go immediately to call the Dr. while Adri, the bestest friend ever, enfolds Renata in a warm, nurturing embrace.

Mexico City.  Ok friends.  I haven’t seen this scene yet.  Is it going to be Jero and Tata?  He sure as heck got some splainin’ to do!  Oh.  It’s Skankzilla and Germy.  Skanky happily tells Germy the wedding didn’t go off and never will cause Jero ran off with another woman.  Germy coolly sizes up Bert’s glee at this turn of events and her obvious lack of love for her family.  Why?  Did Renata tell you that?  You have no idea everything she’s done to me.  No, because instead of going to see your Aunt in the hoosegow you came here to be with me.  Berta regurgitates more bile about being the victim of the family’s exclusion and Germy concludes this must be why she feels no sense of loyalty or integrity about the family business.  Germy wants an explanation about the check and Berta, looking strange with bare feet, pads off in a huff to the bedroom.

Back at El Centro Ines is trying to convince Flor of the Posse de las Madres to go into the Police Station to make a declaration against Corina.  Ines will go with Flor.

We’re back at the Jailhouse.  The Lawyer dude gives Gonzo a photo of Corina which was grabbed from the surveillance video.  Hon instructs the Lawyer to plaster the city with Corina’s picture.  Gonzo inquires about the case against Regina.

Tony and Regina are in the study and have reached the Dr. and he’s going to come see Renata.   Regina still can’t believe Jeronimo would have run off with Marina.  The phone rings.  It’s Gonzo. He tells Regina there is hope that they’ve got a bead on Corina and Cons may be freed soon.  This is good news for El Centro as well.  Regina matter of factly tells Gonzo that Jero took the same flight as Marina for Mexico City. . .then it’s a fact, Jeronimo abandoned my Renata?  It seems so but I just can’t believe it Regina states firmly.  Dammit, that’s it.  Gonzo wants his whole family back with him tomorrow and forget Jeronimo Linares forever!  FOREVER!

Matt and Renata once more bond through sorrow when YAAAAY!  THE PUPPY IS BACK!!  How good to hear Renata immediately begin chortling in baby-puppy talk!  To Matt’s question what can they do, Renata asks that an investigation be started at once on Jeronimo’s whereabouts.  Matt’s like, why?  For what purpose?  Renata smells a rat, this just isn’t adding up.  Matt and Adri have that tone of voice and look adults have when a kid is talking about that special friend that no one else can see.  Renata hangs tough.  I know deep down within myself that something has happened to him.  Matt tries to convince her she’s going through the stages of grief and soon she will accept. . . .No, no, lo voy a aceptar, Matias no lo puedo aceptar mi vida sin Jeronimo!  I won’t, I can’t accept life without Jeronimo. Adri tries to hug her.  [Aye, Renata, I know those kind of sobs of frustration, your head is hurting, your nose is stopped up and you’ve cried so much your eyes are dry heaving.]  Jeronimo loves me she cries that ragged, hiccupping kind of cry when you’re so caught up in the emotion.  They embrace her as that infeliz leads us to break.

Back at La Bonita:  Super Laz is livid.  He’s not buying this bull about Jeronimo!  They yell about how unbelievable it is.  Renata had accepted the babies, it was no problem!  Yells Laz.  But Marina did not accept Renata Carlos shouts.  And you know what’s so killin’ about it Carlos says, dialing the decibels down for dramatic effect:  Jeronimo left here without knowing that Renata is pregnant too.

Back in this bedroom that has heard so much wailing, seen so many tears and the awful genuflections of grief Renata is told about Gonzo’s wish that they leave La Bonita.  Her lids heavy and swollen, Renata agrees.  It is so painful being here, and there’s nothing else to do.

Back in the kitchen Manuela gives the 411 to Alfie.  [Oh Gawd, don’t let her within 100 yards of Renata!]  They discuss, of course, how unbelievable it is that Jero is a Zero and dumped Renata on her wedding day.  Eso me demuestra que todos, todos los hombres son iguales!  [What a surprise utterance from Alfie – NOT – students, you can figure out from context what that means!]  Manuela weakly protests.  Alfie is with her own baby because she gave Alison permission to accompany Anibal to go get his bike out of the shop.  Alfie is so starry-eyed over Anibal, she wants her to enjoy this first blush of luuurve before Anibal crushes the bloom.  [Hey!  Where is Super Laz’s understudy anyway?  Wasn’t he supposed to fling some major ca ca into the proverbial fan?]

Oh, there he is with young Alison!  Please put on the helmets!

Ah, the Marcus Welby of Mexico is in the house.  He asks Renata how far along she is.  Month, month and a half.

Ok.  Here’s Anibal with Padre Severino.  Uh Oh.  My dear Catholic friends, they’re saying some little prayers and the Padre is wearing his beautiful purple cloth.  Does this mean this is a protected communication?  Oh no!  Well, before freaking out, let’s hear what he has to say:   I wanted to confess because I’m almost sure that Augustin Dunant, my Papa, had something to do with the fact that the wedding between Jeronimo and Renata did not take place.  Padre loses his sacred composure and turns with a look of horror to stare Anibal square in the face.

Doc Welby is done:  Renata is fine gynecologically  but she has a heart arrhythmia.  He wants to refer her to a Cardiologist and Adri has a suggestion but the Doctor doesn’t want her to travel, she must get the studies in the hospital in Ensenada and let the results dictate whether she can travel or not.  [oh, the bottom just dropped out of my stomach. . .she’s going to end up having Auggie take her to the hospital for the tests!!!]  Regina is feeling an instinctive disquiet within as she turns to look at Renata as the color drains from our little tableau of woe.

Well, friends, looks like I dodged another bullet, wasn’t as bad as I feared.   The explosive previews appear to be not just for tomorrow but maybe for the next few days:  Fina setting an electrical fire, choking Blanca and throwing her from the top of a tall building, more anguished crying of Renata and a mixture of scenes we’ve already seen.  Thanks for readin’ this and see y’all in cyberspace!

Brava! Brava! That was awesome, Lila. I so enjoy your recapping style.

Wow, sure feels like things are winding up again. A lot of exciting stuff going on and so many things to resolve.

Love how German gets Roberta and doesn't fall for any of her BS. Too bad he's just an aimless mujeriego.

Audrey

Dear Lila, dodged a bullet? I don't think so! You got one heck of a complex episode. Kudos to you for wading your way through this one. There was conversation and intrigue up the wazoo tonight.

I don't believe Saul's story, but what in the heck happened and why couldn't Jero call Renata?

Awesome recap amiga! I'm off to slumber (night out with the girls and all) but more comments tomorrow.

LILA:

What a recap. This has so much energy that the words just fly off the page. My favorite paragraph (of many)...

"In a couple of sentences German let’s Berta know he’s not as dumb as she looks. He knows all about the scam. We got a deal? [Y’all know the answer to that.] German moves in and possessively pulls the cowed cow in, establishing his dominance with an unwavering glare".

"Cowed cow"...fabulous phrase, that.

This was a rip-snorting barn-burner of a recap, Lila. Throughout the episode your wit and intelligence just shine. Thanks again!

EJ

I mentioned in the LFdD from the other day that I am a 4th generation TN watcher. Apparently I have inherited my great-grandmother the tendency to yell at the TV when an anvil is about to fall or a good character is doing something stupid.

Today I showed I am my great-grandmother's great-granddaughter by yelling at the TV when Anibal started telling Padre Severino what he knew in confession instead of straight out. Mom thinks it somehow wasn't confession or that it's not formal confession so Padre Severino can pass the knowledge on, but I don't know.

But it seems like Padre S. tells somebody in the previews, so hopefully Jero and Tata's disappearance won't be dragged out!

Lila, great recap, full of depth and insight.

Regarding Padre, I think our choices are to a) depend upon Padre's inability to be a really good priest (probaboy not), or b) have hime give Anibal absolution (for what?), then take his stole off and put it in his pocket, and say, "Anibal, these are important things that you know and are crucial to the well being of many people. Please tell me again everyting you know."

David

Lila,I'm blown away. I've only read the first part and already you have had me chuckling over and over --
--the snake we love to hate
--German let’s Berta know he’s not as dumb as she looks.
-- cowed cow
--Your fashion advice to Coni in the can

You are too much. This is hilarious

Güera

Lila- Your recaps get better each time amiga. You writing is wonderfully descriptive and each paragraph is a treat. But I did particularly love that paragraph EJ highilighted about Bert and Germy. Ha! I love that she was teasing him about being on a short leash, and now HE has her on a short leash. The poor secretary he was hitting on is named Beth. The guy is a womanizing lech, but seems to be honest when it comes to business. He really is starting to see the real Berta now.

I also loved your descriptions of Renata and her various states of anguish and tears. Did you notice that as soon as Saul started spinning his tale (which I don't believe a word of), Nata instinctively grabbed the hem of Gina's sweater? Like how a little kid grabs their mother. I don't think she or Gina noticed she was doing it, but perhaps it's a sense memory from long ago.

I had to laugh when the gyno came in and realized Nata was the patient, and she realized who he was. This guy must think this Jero Linares guy is something else. Each time he's called to La Bonita, it's to treat some distressed woman, whom Jero has impregnated, who is eager to flee his hacienda. LOL!

Good Morning Early Birds! Audrey, EJ, Guera. Thanks, my friends, for your kind words. I really would love to hear what y'all think of this episode and the story development. Recapping is like examining a painting with a magnifying glass: you may capture the texture of brush strokes but you may not get the full picture!

Annaleigh welcome! So it WAS a confidential communication! Thank you so much. Love your solution for Padre, David.

Cap'n, I don't know what's up, but that weird video square is back, at least it's visible on IE. I used a clean word document. Don't know what's up. Thanks for posting and see y'all through out the day! Got a holiday brunch and work so please, have at this episode!

;D Lila

Lila, simply sensational. There was so much going on last night and you covered every scene with picture perfect detail.

I had to pare the list down but some of my favorites were "resolve is dissolving", "cowed cow", "dialing the decibels down" and "Renata takes a breath too shallow to support her frame". Most excellent!

I've been trying to come up with something/anything positive. I imagine the video that may possibly exonerate Con is a start. The other may be "Regina is feeling an instinctive disquiet within as she turns to look at Renata as the color drains from our little tableau of woe".

I'm not a proponent of violence but will someone please slap Carlos silly? Get a grip Carlos. Get Prissy out of there. Basta!

Sylvia, I can't imagine why Jero hasn't contacted Renata yet either. If the plane manifest shows he was on the plane with Marina, they surely arrive safe and sound? I don't believe Augie's plan included murder? At least not yet.

Diana

Lila, the only thing better than reading your recap, would be to work alongside you and take hilarious coffee breaks all day. You would have me in stitches.

Loved the "duh-mbly asks" (Roberta) as well as (Matilde) "breaks down almost before Prissy's stench can waft from the room." Yikes, powerful imagery there.

And your description of Renata's anguished weeping (like when your eyes do dry heaves)...oh my, I can tell you've been there. Me too.

Great recap. I'm assuming Jeronimo is drugged and tied up somewhere, and that they got a decoy to pose as him and take that seat on the airplane. But time will tell. The writers are certainly teasing us on his whereabouts. Clever pests that they are!

Rather enjoyed seeing Blanca vault over the railing last night. Does that make me a bad person?

Oh, I love you guys! OMG you make me feel so good! Vivi, it is just so wondrous how you find those little yet powerful details like Renata grabbing the hem of Regina's sweater. That is so sweet it makes me want to cry! Diana and Judy, comments like yours make it hard for me to stay away from this page while I'm at work. "Rather enjoyed seeing Blanca vault over the railing last night. Does that make me a bad person?" HAH! Oh no! There goes coffee all over the lap top! Thanks, and if anyone has a clue about the stoopid square, let me know. Don't know if it's me or Blogger!

Lila

Good morning impressive empress Lila. So sorry about that video box. I forgot to proofread the recap in IE, doh! I fixed it though. Not sure why that happens, must be some miscommunication between Word and Firefox. Stoopid technology.

Oh my, I sure enjoyed reading your recap thoroughly this morning. I agree with the others, your energy and verve just popped off the page.

Some of my favorite Lila-isms:
"Saul excretes his tale"

"they vow to haul the heffa in!" and "Flor of the Posse de las Madres" (I LOVE how the Regina Center women were so supportive of Ines)

"do you have any enemies? Sheesh!"

"Auggie chuckles and rubs his paws together" and "Thus Auggie signs the deed for prime acreage in HELL!" Amen sister.

I've come to like Julietta and I'm glad she's not such a spare girl anymore. She has a purpose! It's to spy on Big Mouth Berta and Germy. I hope Germy leaves sweet receptionist Beth alone.

Lila, you truly did get an episode that was packed with conversation, half of it lies, so nice job helping us figure out the BS from the real stuff. There was a lot going on last night.

Annaleigh, we have a fourth generation tn watcher? Hoowee, it's like we've got royalty among us. Glad to hear you yell at the TV too.

Where to start? This is such a well crafted and funny recap.

I also assume that Jero is drugged somewhere and his phone has been taken & turned off. I just can't understand the part about his name on the passenger manifest. In the old days that would have been possible but in today's security conscious airport procedures how could they fake that??? Is it possible that Jero was taken onto the plane drugged?

Vivi thanks for the catch about Nata grabbing the hem of Gina's sweater. Very touching and real.

I know it's not good to root for a heart problem but FINALLY this heart anomaly plus the finger prints are heading us toward the big reveal.

German is turning out to be a very interesting character. He really seems on the up and up with Gonzo -- but he's sniffing around every got mama in sight and blackmailing Berta. He is so on to her. Could he be the agent we've bee waiting for? The one who can finally make her see how she created her own victim reality?

Güera

Thank you Sylvia for your kind words and removing that dichoso box, didn't mean to whine! You're right about Julietta, she's a real, not a spare girl! And I kinda begrudingly like Germy. I like how he helped Cons. He's got a cool head, swiftly sums up complex situations and takes action. . .it's just that this also includes most any female under 25. Guess he's making up for lost time with the wild oats he didn't get to sow before snagging Gema. Real manwhore. Wonder if he's going to go down with Berta (though he doesn't deserve the same fate she does!) cause Julieta is on to them!

Lila

Really enjoyed your recap Lila, very funny!

I assume Jero has been kidnapped, I wonder what Auggie plans to do with him. Why would Anil go to a priest with his information instead of Renata? And why confess? It's not his sin! Strange turn of events.

I used to think German was just a weasel but at least he's a smart weasel. He will probably tie up some of these loose ends for us.

I miss Jero!

Hey Lila - This looks like it's going to be a great read! I can't wait to get to it. Just skimming down to leave a comment about the previous re-cap, I saw your paragraph about Gonzo talking to Cons........how funny! I will check in later once I've read it and the comments. Thank you.

Cheryl - Thanks for sharing that great picture with us yesterday, and the nice re-cap. In an effort to stay caught up with CME, I did a double view last night (foregoing the Biggest Loser finale, so if anyone knows who won, don't say!!). Anyway, that's a whole of angst watching two episodes back to back. I was totally drained when they were over.

EJ - Regarding Carlos' Passive-Aggression and how he can get away with it given Mati's histrionics, I am wondering if they get back together, which I think we all assume will happen, what would you suggest to her in how to quell those tendencies in Carlos?

Not being a huge Mati fan, and always wondering what Our Two Carloses saw in her, now I just don't want her going back to him and dealing with that. Did you see him lunge at her in the kitchen? I wouldn't want my daughter to date him. Maybe P(r)iss deserves him. OR...... is there a way to tamp him down?

Also, EJ - I agree that Fina was "born that way" as was Roberta. Has anyone seen one of my all time favorite movies "The Bad Seed"? That's them... spawn of Bessie Denker.

Ugh... I agree with the women that Roberta's hair in that tight French Braid halo was very unflattering on her tiny head. It made her look like an ant.

Rosemary la Otra

Howdy all, just wanted to get back in the comment game.

First, Muchisismas Gracias a Todos for the kind words and condolences following my mother's passing last week. You all are such great friends to have and I count you all among my blessings.

Second, thanks to all the recappers for your hard work! I've tried to keep up and usually finish reading comments about 7 pm and figure, well, tomorrow I'll put up a comment. Paving my road to hell.

Now:

- Cheryl, I loved your "SSaul" last week and I can think of only one way to pronounce that. I think Lila used "$$" preceded by "a" and followed by "hole." The guys a loser.

- It's time for Jero to take La Bonita to the next level as a business and create an HR shop. Then Carlos can bust Priscilla for "unwanted touching" and have her canned. My take on Carlos is that he's trying not to explode on Priscilla and end up in the carcel for battery.

- Matilde: I've known guys over the years who were married to Matildes, and woe unto them. Matildes call their husbands at work five or six times a day and demand co-workers tell them where their husband is if he doesn't answer the phone by the second ring. Cell phones are the Matildes' best friend so they can maintain surveillance 24/7. Matildes insist on reviewing all their husband's e-mail and phone logs. Bottom line: ditch her, Carlos. She has seniority at La Bonita and her brother is more important to the enterprise than you are. Writings on the wall, amigo, and adios.

- However Agustin checks out, I hope it's painful. Ditto for Fina. Previews made it look like Fina's going to take care of BSC Blanca - suits me.

I wish everyone would stop thinking that just because Fina and Blanca are in the nut house that they couldn't possibly cause any harm. They all know these two wiley witches are clever and resourceful, and that they most likely were faking their "illness" in order to get a lighter sentence in the manicomio instead of the prison. They should also be suspicious that their two worst enemies being in the same place could result in them teaming up. Don't take the head doctor's word for it. Get an investigator checking in on it and the bank account of the director!

Lila, I'm breathless after reading your recap. You certainly captured the urgent mood of this episode. My favorite scene and my favorite line of your recap:

...he thinks someone did this as an act of vengeance against Constanza and Regina. But who?"

I love Gonzo.

Heck, Saúl just about had me convinced... this may be Augie's most successful effort so far. I'm really anxious to see exactly how he pulled this off.

I am hoping to see Jerry tonight, duct taped to a chair with our familiar fat happy rodents grazing contentedly at his feet. I'm counting on Marina being either obliviously in DF or at least being properly attended to.

For any actors out there, how do you put yourself in the frame of mind to be able to do these kind of emotionally draining scenes like the ones SN has had to do these last few episodes (and it looks like a few more to come)? I mean, she really throws herself into it. And then, how do you come down after the scenes? Do you think they had her do these scenes over and over? And given how many 1 hour episodes these are, and the brutal filming schedules of tns, it doesn't seem like there's any real time to "come down." It seems exhausting and not particularly healthy to do.

Lila, You are so fabulous. I love how you nailed character and scene, paragraph after paragraph. The snake we love to hate may be one of so many favorites.

I was unable to watch this multiple times last night due to dilated eyes and inability to cope with the glare of computer or TV screens so thanks to Sylvia for posting this so quickly for all of us to enjoy. Lila, I was aware of your awesome abilities at perspective and detailed analysis months ago so I am very glad you agreed to become a recapper. Look at the comments of appreciation from our wonderful CME regulars. Your talent shines!

Welcome to Annaleigh! Wow, 4 generations, you must be so proud. We are honored to have you here and thanks for the clarification from you Mom that Anibal was not making a sacred confession. David is right that Padre needs to repeat his concern so Anibal can respond again with open condemnation. I too yell at the screen but try to temper it because the lovely large poodle Willa gets upset and thinks someone is hurting the puppy or Gitana as she comes running toward me for reassurance.

Good morning everyone.

Thank you Lila for that wonderful re-cap.

That dirty, lying Saul and miserable creep Augistine - how can they be so cruel? Makes me sad and I have so much anxiety right along with Nata. :( Somebody tell me please that Jero's absence won't drag on too long - I can't take it.

The preview of Fina trying to teach Blanca to fly was hilarious though - highlight of the evening.

Mary

P.S. Why doesn't somebody just call MariTorpedoTatas and ask her how she's doing and by the way, have you seen Jero??? Geez. I think I need a Xanex.

Mary

Lila thanks for your great recap. While you feel you dodged a bullet, you had to put up with SSSaul's sorry story and watch Renata's reaction as well as doubt about Jero increase.

ITA w/those of you who believe Jero's been kidnapped and Auggie plans to kill him (he's been alluding to it and now with two murders -we know its only one- on his payroll what's number 3, and finally he didn't hire that last creepy guy that we haven't seen for nothing).

My question is has Marina been abducted as well? As I believe Auggie made some comment about her crossing him when she didn't try to help him separate Renata/Jero.

It is interesting that German is a leech but seemingly scrupulous in business. I do enjoy his upper hand on Roberta. He may get himself into trouble realizing Roberta is Fina's outside person.

Annaleigh - though Anibal may have confessed, Padre S will spill. I have NEVER seen a priest with such loose lips in a TN (though my experience isn't that extensive).

Vivi - yes, our gang needs to stop being so naive. You know who your enemies are and they aren't in lock-down (a real prison).

Mary - good call on calling Tatas but I fear Auggie took her too.

Lila, what a wonderful recap, thank you.

The comments have had me laughing all morning. Teaching Blanca to fly was LOL funny.

The not-so-good Padre needs to straighten this mess out along with his desk jockey niece. If she had not lied about running off with Saul and Padre had not gone to Jero this probably never would have happened. I am sure that everyone could have accepted Dr. Tatas moving back to MC and moving on with her life, but everyone become worked up about the Saul lie because of his history with her.

I could say some really evil things about Roberta but I won't and will just hope she gets her just rewards.

I cannot understand them holding Con. I would think the hospital episode would be proof enough that the heffa had been there with her borrowed child. The writers need to read more mysteries.

Mike, you have ruined me, I go around singing "Third Rate Romance" all of the time when I should be singing Christmas Carols.

Annaleigh:

The Cap'n is correct. With you here we are amongst TN royalty/cognoscenti indeed. So nice to hear from you. It will be great to get your perspective on the happenings in our shows—your family has probably seen it ALL.

EJ

Kahlilah, The Lily of Caray--You gave us a real tour de force. To be honest, last night's episode was so heart-wrenching, I was not looking forward to reliving it through the recap. So glad I overcame my misgivings. You are a born recapper.

Of course, we all know Jero was kidnapped and is spending time with our resident rats. The plane manifesto is troubling, though.

If all Marina wanted to do was leave, she really didn't need Saul's help--other than to save face that she is not the un-loved, rejected, pregnant, ex-lover (and I use that word cautiously) of Jeronimo.

If she saw him on the plane, drugged or not, would she not have been immediately suspicious--she also knows (from being in the right place at the wrong time) how deleriously in love Jero and Nata are.

If the two seats are side-by-side, then an imposter would have to be sitting next to her, someone she would not recognize. Hardly any of us examine our seatmates tickets to see who they are, no? We ask.

Mary--you are onto something. I think Auggie grabbed her, too. He would have no second thought to have her sharing a rat-occupied space. One way it could have happened would be Auggie, holding Marina in Jero's presence, threatened him with doing away with the babies if he didn't cooperate. What would a Hero to do? Jero probably has enough faith in Nata and his love for her, for her to start a search and investigation right away.

Sorry for going on and on in this vein. But it bothers me until we find out what really happened.

I'm with you, Judy, I can't wait to see Blanca go over the railing. Maybe it will be better staged than poor innocent Benita's flying push in STuD.

We are beginning to see Roberta's downfall. Can't wait to see her skewered on her own petard (sorry for mixing images). Who would have thought it would be at the hands of a serial seducer.
NOK

I would think it would be very easy for someone posing as Jero to purchase a ticket and then fly off to DF.

Vivi:

ITA about Sylvia N and her acting style. I know of no other actress of her age who has her emotional range. Wow.

I think it would be very draining and difficult to do what SN is doing here in the ultimos capitulos of this novela. Last week she was almost manic in her joy—now she is in despair. And, as you say, the filming schedule of TN's is grueling. I guess it's like a marathon—you rest when it's done. Healthy? No, probably not. I think you do that kind of work because you are driven to, not because it is balanced or healthy. Great observations, Vivi. We are lucky to have your eagle eye on the action. You do not miss a thing.

Also, Lila, I forgot to mention how much I loved your image of "eyes doing dry heaves". Perfect, amiga, just perfect.

R la O: If Matilde and Carlos were real people and I could sprinkle magic relationship-fixing-dust on their pretty pointed little heads, it would contain the following ingredients:
1. A strong dose of common sense
2. Their own house, where they have no audience for their dramas
3. A commitment to self-discipline, self-observation and the choice to be the best people they can be
4. Peers—if not professionals—who call them on their repetitive hurtful patterns and encourage them to be kind to one another.

In my magical fantasy world MiCharlie and Mati would take THEMSELVES on as we should all do, IMHO. Without this help I would not project a happily-ever-after future for them even if they stay together. It seems much more likely that they would continue torturing themselves and their captive La Bonita audience forever.

EJ

I'm getting almost homicidal watching Augustin; he is beyond sadistic. How much does anyone want to bet he will kidnap Renata before Jero surfaces?

Lila Lila Lila - this was so fun to read. If you wrote a novel I would save it for my next vacation, like I save my most enjoyable reads. German let Berta know HE's not as dumb as SHE looks! lol

Certainly Padre Tio will be calling to make sure Maritatas arrived safely. Hopefully whether she answers and says she has no idea where Jero is, or if she doesn't answer he will see the importance of re-telling Anibal's story (not that he's ever needed any prompting before to blab). Now is not the time for him to start acting discreetly.

We've all seen steady eddy Regina, and we've all seen loopy, sappy Regina, but I am really enjoying this fiery Regina we are seeing. Twice that I've noticed she has somewhat risen her voice in support of Renata "Renata tiene razon". We are seeing where Renata got that spark. And I loved when Renata hollered in frustration at Regina then said "No, perdonme" tearfully. I missed the sweater grab. I hope they replay that tonight.

Welcome Annaleigh! 4th generation? You are like Caray Caray royalty! Please keep chiming in.

Since when do airport employees give out info of whos on a flight or show the manifesto? I dont think Matt or Carlos called the police and I assume that the police would be the only ones to get this info. So, im wondering if an employee was paid-off and the the manifesto is a fake.

Loved the recap

So now most of our cast has turned into idiots. Mostly Carlos, but the rest too. Does a manifest mean he was actually ON the plane? Can't someone call Marina, or check on Jero's apartment in Mexico? They have investigators already. Use 'em! And what are they thinking (Carlos) that Jeronimo would leave right before the wedding after being so happy about it? Leave it to Lazaro to be the voice of reason even if no one listens. And has no one (Carlos) considered that Jero's mortal enemy might have done something to him? Anibal's been there a week and he's already clued in. (Lazaro's understudy- Great!) And even if Mexico gives precedent to the mother, I doubt they'd let Marina cut out the father from the kids' lives. Lazaro and Anibal probably knows this.

And really disappointing, Gonzalo. Who indeed could want to harm Regina and Constanza? Duh! The Bobsey twins should have immediatly come to mind. These people have no imagination.

Was it only Regina and Ines who suspected that Fina escaped for a day, or was Gonza told?

Thank god for the puppy! So cute.

Kelly

EJ - so are you saying with real people you actually do sprinkle magic-relationship-fixing dust on their pointed little heads? lol

I totally agree with your points, especially getting into their own house where they don't have an audience.

I was wondering if Mati would be better off responding assertively and calling out Carlos' P-A or ignoring it and making a good effort to not get histrionic? That is not Mati, and if that is what she needs to do so as not to bring out that side in him, she may need to move on.

I can't believe how "over" Carlos I am right now. Is there any hope for him becoming the sweet guy we thought we knew?

Vivi and EJ - I was thinking about how overcome with emotion the dancers are on So You Think You Can Dance just from doing one emotional dance number. Sometimes they start to really weep after the number when the judges are talking to them. The more they internalize it, the stronger they are affected. SN seems to totally get into character and I bet there is some unwinding that needs to be done. Hopefully all her furry friends help with that.

R la O

Carlos and Mati do have their own house. It is the one that Carlos' mother redecorated. They just choose to hang out in Manuela kitchen. They are both lucky that she has not wacked both of them over the head with her wooden spoon.

Lila: What a great recap. All my fav lines were numerous and already mentioned by others. Awesome! Especially since, once again, I only watched the last 10 minutes. However, I've decided to woman up and watch tonight--even though it looks like Nata is going to have a melt down and I hate when she's upset.

Yay!!! The puppy is still alive.

Guera: I think it was you that mentioned Jero's breakdown in the opening credits. I thought those were all scenes that had happened so I watched it again this morning and does look like that might have been one of his many breakdowns he had at the beginning of the TN. Let's hope so.

Diana: "I'm not a proponent of violence but will someone please slap Carlos silly? Get a grip Carlos. Get Prissy out of there. Basta!" I don't condone violence either but I'd add Prissy to that list. And not a bitch slap either. I just want to punch her lights out.

Queen Annaleigh: Welcome.

EJ: Love your psychological input. I know for me the only way to really enjoy a show is to feel like the characters are real. I'm a very character driven viewer. A story has to be completely off the rails for me to notice something's wrong, I'm so absorbed in the characters.

Lila, what splendid work. I loved the "cowed cow" remark and laughed and maybe even mooed. I think the comparison is rather insulting to cows, though.

Priscilla pawing MiCharlie has the vibe of a bald megalomaniac criminal mastermind stroking a white cat.

Maybe Mati really is cursed. Her other novios lost their lives; Carlos has (so far) only lost his mind and the use of most of his limbs. Maybe she should move on, and her next suitor will only have mild brain damage and a pegleg, and ten or so potential husbands down the line, the curse will have weakened enough that she can actually marry one. Also maybe by then she will have matured a bit.

If Jero actually got on that plane, it was only under extreme duress. I can imagine Augie having his henchman threaten Jero that he has to go along with the plan and not call anyone or Renata dies. Jero would risk hurting her feelings to save her life.

Rosemary #1:

Thanks for the clarification. I knew that there was a house, but it seems that MiCharlie and Mati live most of their lives in the big house at La Bonita. Also, are they living in that little house together? As to Manuela using the wooden spoon, it doesn't seem like such a bad idea...

I don't think Mati and MiCharlie have moved into their little house yet. They were waiting until after their wedding, and then the wedding was postponed. They both still live at La Bonita, in separate rooms.

R la O:

LOL. I have no magic dust, alas. No, with real people I would like to borrow Manuela's wooden spoon. HAHAHAHA...

Actually, with real people our only hope for personal CHANGE is when, GASP, we observe and take responsibility for and manage our own individual behavior. What a concept! No one else to blame! Still chuckling...

"Priscilla pawing MiCharlie has the vibe of a bald megalomaniac criminal mastermind stroking a white cat".

Brilliant.
ROTFL

Lila,
bravo!
loved ...
Auggie signs the deed for prime acreage in HELL!
and the line about Adri and Matt looking at Nata as if she was a young kid trying to convince them of her invisible friend's presence...

vivi,
what the Gyno Dr must think of coming to LaB and every time treating a different woman impregnated by jero who is eager and anxious to leave ... LOL!

Vivi,
i agree with everyone else, great catch with Nata grabbing the hem of Gina's sweater... sweet indeed!
Mary,
The preview of Fina trying to teach Blanca to fly
ROFLOL hylarious vision...

I am still wondering what is Prissy's main motive for coming to LaB... is she after Jero's money? Does Carlos family have enough $ to interest her? (she would know from their past history, I guess).
Or was she there just to find out where 'micharly' ended up and then stayed just to mortify Mati?

Marta, I actually think that Priss was minding her own business when out of the blue, Carlos called her and asked her to come help with a little wine mixing. I do believe that she thought that Carlos was wanting to fan an old flame and she was all too willing to go along.

She wants Carlos and is giving it her beat shot.

LOVING this spirited discussion, critical, articulate AND hilarious analyses of this episode and characters as well as the craft of the actors. . .it truly does give me a better picture of the happenings.

Let me say before my roll call of thanks that I every bit appreciate all my friends who are less vocal voyeurs of our amigos south of the border. All my friends who have done this for years do this for you as well and you are appreciated: you are not lurkers, you are silent, sage observers. Thank you!

Love that you guys are discussing this and thank you for your so kind words! Wow! Guera, Chuchi, R la O (a novel, oh my, my head swelleth), Mike, Carlos, Cheryl, Mary, Karen, Rosemary #1 (love the desk jockey!), NOK (Lilly of Caray!), EJ with your magic therapeutic dust, ebony - good catch on the possibly fake manifest, Kelly, Robey I get absorbed in the characters too -- I was so in love with Fernando and angry with Aldo it was pathetic; Julia ITA on Mati's curse!; Marta. . .

. . .if I get canned for reading Caray Caray at work INSTEAD of working, you guys have given me confidence that maybe I can be a starving writer! ;D Carry on, love the discussion and gonna miss this crazy crew when it's over!

Lila

Cheryl @ 11:16. My friend, thank you so much for your warm welcome and kind, kind praise. You are one of the main wizards of recap that brought me out of the silent shadows. I am not ashamed of the downright joy and learning I get from watching these shows, reading you all's recaps and analysis, hearing about your careers and hobbies: I could just break out in song. . . . oh oh tidings of comfort and joy! Thank you, Cheryl!

One more thing. So, the conversation with Padre Severino is or is NOT private? I think we all suspect loose labios Sev is going to spill it and that's good, just a little confused. Thanks!

Lila

Lila--Hope you read this. If you want to go from "Anonymous said..." to "Lila said...," Carlos long ago told us how to do it.

Go down to where you see Choose an identity. Click the button that says Name/Url. Two boxes open up. Just fill the top one in (Name) with Lila and voila--it works.

Your name won't appear in blue, but black is good.

That goes for David, Diana, Mary, Rosemary #1 and Kelly

well, the priest telling the 'confessor' to repeat what they said AFTER they take their sacred garments off (so they can do something about it THEMSELVES)... that is not new in novelas... i remember it happening in CS 93

Robey,
ROFLOL! I love your take on the 'gradually weakening' of Mati's curse... (her next suitor will only have mild brain damage and a pegleg, and ten or so potential husbands down the line) so true! Carlos, for your own sake.. RUN!! RUN!!

Woo Hoo - thanks for the info on the name thing!

I hope that when Augustine DIES - come on he just has to - that somehow Anibal will inherit horrific dad's estate? I would just love that!

Oh, somewhere someone said there are X amount of episodes left - can't find it - will someone please tell again. Thanks.

NoLongerAnonymous :)

Mary- We have 15 more episodes to go. Three weeks, if there were no holidays in there. So maybe we have 3 1/2 to 4 weeks left.

Thank you Vivi. Hope my heart can take it. Somebody pass the worm.

Hallelujah! It's a Miracle! Sister NOK Thank You, Thank You! I have a name!!

Ok, so Padre Severino can, as I think David said earlier, take off that beautiful purple scarf and he's out of the Divine Zone as it were and Anibal can tell him again? Totally cool! Hope he does that tonight!!

Lila

We'll re-congregate tomorrow for more re-telling, re-hashing and re-gurgitating.
NOK

Marta: Wish I could take credit for that Mati curse thing. I like the idea of making people laugh (in a good way). However, I was commenting on Julia's comment. :)

I don't think the Padre is smart enough to think of taking off the official purple and have Ani tell him again.

Robey

I just checked the TV schedule and it looks like CME will not air Friday next week. So if it airs every other night that it is supposed to then the last night should be Wednesday, January 4th. If it gets preempted any night in addition to next Friday Dec 23 then the Gran Final will get pushed out accordingly.

Thanks again everyone for the welcome! :) My grandparents and great-grandparents' English was pretty limited so they couldn't enjoy very much English-language TV, so they watched a lot of novelas. I have been told a few family stories of TN fanaticism, like about a granduncle who died when I was little back in the early 80's, and would manage polite disinterest when someone tried to talk him during his novelas (which was common, his house was a very busy place, he had 15 children, scads of grandchildren, and many other relatives around the house frequently).

Mom's first language was Spanish, but once she learned English that's what she's always preferred to use. When she was away from home, Grandma would write her letters in Spanish and should would write her replies in English.

Anyway, eventually the younger generations in the family have found enjoyment in TNs, even if a lot of us (like me) are more comfortable with English. :)

Annaleigh you are a gem! I love to hear the story of your family history. Please feel free to help us out with our translations if they don't seem right to you. I'm sure there is a lot of knowledge buried in your brain and hopefully it will come bubbling up. By the way, we consider ourselves to be a Spanish Language Study Group; just in case someone accuses us of being tacky we can assure them we are completely educational.
