La Que No Podía Amar #30 Lunes 2/6/12 “Have You Ever Seen a Dream Walking? We Have!"

Antes
Ana Paula and Rogelio talk and hold hands on the deck of the cabin; Lady Chatterley and the stablehand are almost caught by the scullery maid. Ana Paula falls out of the rowboat.
Nuevo
Lagunas de Montebello: Rogelio shouts for Ana Paula and pulls the left oar into the boat. He then pulls himself up and falls into the water head first. Tia MentiRosa starts to mildly panic as Hugo doffs his shirt (he's nicely toned, which we all notice) and shoes and rushes out into the lake to help. Ana Paula surfaces and Rogelio manages to turn around to see she's alright.
Hacienda de Fuerte: Maria catches Sinthia searching through papers. Sinthia tells her she's searching for her parents' will. She wants to make sure that Ana Paula can't take what's rightfully hers. Obviously she not only never went to law school she never discussed any of this with Bruno back in the day. Nor does she want to hear Maria say that Ana Paula is a good person.
Lagunas de Montebello: Hugo swims up to Rogelio and Ana Paula, arriving just as they reach the boat. Each yells to Hugo to help the other. Seeing that Ana Paula has grabbed the side of the boat, he helps Rogelio back into it.
Hacienda de Fuerte: Maria warns Sinthia that Rogelio won't like her searching through his stuff. She accuses Maria of favoring him. She denies that she favors him, saying that she loves them both equally. Sinthia asks whether Maria will tell Rogelio what she was up to and Maria tells her she won't. [We sense an anvil here]. Maria suggests that Sinthia just talk to Rogelio. Nothing will convince Sinthia that Ana Paula married Rogelio for his – and her – money.
Lagunes de Montebello: We are now back at the dock and Rogelio is back in his wheelchair. The three of them are soaked, but OK. Rogelio looks back at Ana Paula, starting to smile when he sees that she's alright. Tia MentiRosa arrives with some nice fluffy white towels, which she hands to them. All is well until she makes a remark to AnaPaula about going out with Rogelio in the boat, which sets off Rogelio's temper. As Hugo wheels him away, giving MentiRosa a dirty look, Ana Paula looks at Toxic Tia and shakes her head at this latest estupidez.
Café: Miguel and Maripaz are sitting at a table flirting. When he asks why she doesn't have a boyfriend when she is so pretty and she tells him something about her mother being controlling about her friends. They seem to have no interest in food as there is none on the table, only a pitcher of what could be lemonade. Macaria arrives and lets Miguel know she will not having him trifling with her daughter. It's going steady or nothing. I'm starting to like her a little more.
Federico's Office: Dany arrives at his summons to learn that he had been unfair to her and has reconsidered her dismissal. He will, however, transfer her to another part of the company at the same pay. She thanks him and tries to explain that Ana Paula is a good person, but he interrupts her and tells her that the only condition of her employment is that she not even mention Ana Paula. She agrees to this, although it clearly disappoints her.
Café: Miguel tries to explain that he and Maripaz are just friends, but Macaria doesn't quite buy this. She knows that he is the brother-in-law of Rogelio Montero and is concerned that he'll start behaving like an entitled rich kid. He tells her – very sincerely – not to worry about it. She knows that he was a driver before his accident, but he tells her he is currently staying at the ranch. Macaria starts seeing dollar signs about the possibility that he will get involved in the Montero family business; Maripaz is clearly embarrassed by this. We sense she's been through this in some form before.
Boca del Cielo: Gustavo confronts David about the round-the-clock construction, threatening to have him shut down. Also about the lies being told about himself. David threatens legal action against him. A shoving match begins.
Federico's Office: Fed, like any proper company owner, has a bar in his office. He pours himself something on the rocks as tells Vainessa he's happy she's interested in the family business. However, he asks whether she wouldn't prefer to take a trip or something right now. She tells him no; she wants to prepare for the future and that pleases him. The phone starts ringing and she bitches about why the secretary isn't there to answer it. He tells her he transferred Dany and will need to hire a new one. She makes a nasty crack about Dany's efficiency then asks him to explain everything about the contract he has with Rogelio. He looks at her with a bit of concern.
Boca del Cielo: Two hardhats break up the fight. David threatens to make life more miserable for Gustavo because his men will take his side. Spare us.
Commercial Break that leads with a promo for Premio Lo Nuestro, which will preempt next Thursday's prime.
Hacienda de Fuerte: Sinthia is tossing a ball into the air (really, she needs to grow up) and Maria talks to her about getting along with Ana Paula. When she refuses Maria tells her that Ana Paula makes her brother happy and isn't that better for everyone in the long term? When Rogelio isn't happy, he gets more controlling. As to Sinthia's situation, Maria tells her that she should not marry David if she doesn't love him because that would make her miserable. Sinthia grows up to teen mode, saying “I'm so confused”. Efrain and Consuelo pass by. Efrain touches his hat and gives Sinthia the more subtle version of his merde-eating grin. She throws the ball at him and walks away. Maria looks at both of them. Methinks she will be the one to figure this out.
San Gabriel, la calle: Miguel approaches a Tostitos cart outside Ulisses' tienda. This is an obvious product placement as Ulisses slits a bag open on the side and pours something over the chips for a Stetson-hatted customer. Bruno approaches and persuades Miguel to share tequila with him. We get another shot of the chips display as the customer walks away. Miguel and Bruno go inside and Bruno orders a bottle of tequila. They sit down. They start talking about Rogelio and Ana Paula. Bruno pours. Miguel starts talking about the contract. We know where this is going.
Lagunas de Montebello: Rogelio and Ana Paula are on the deck.
Ana Paula: How do you feel? You don't want to talk?
Rogelio: I don't want to talk to anybody.
Ana Paula: Rogelio, you have to understand that what happened wasn't your fault.
Rogelio: I'm useless. I couldn't even save you. (turns the chair around to face her) I feel like an imbecile because I couldn't do anything. And don't look at me that way. (Margarito and MentiRosa approach)
Margarito: Want to have something to eat?
Tia MentiRosa: Is everything alright?
Ana Paula: Yes. Let me talk with Rogelio alone.
Tia MentiRosa: Let's go, Margarito. We'll get some refrescos. (Margarito protests, she shushes him and they walk away)
Ana Paula: Stop torturing yourself about what happened. Besides, it was my fault. Rogelio, you brought me to your favorite place. As long as we're here let's enjoy it.
Rogelio: I'm sorry I brought you here. You see how ridiculous this was.
Ana Paula: Very well, if you really want to, let's go. We'll come back another time. But remember that this could have happened anywhere and while we're married I'm confronting things like this with you. (He looks at her with a mix of curiosity, surprise, and pensiveness) And that's how things will go from now on.
Margarito (coming back with bottles of soda): Anyone want a refresco?
Ana Paula: No thanks. And tell my aunt we're going back to the hacienda.
Margarito: So soon?
Ana Paula: Yes. I'm very sorry, Margarito. (kid starts to walk away)
Rogelio: Margarito, we're going to stay.
Ana Paula smiles because this is what she wanted him to say. Love theme begins again.
Café Bar: Bruno and Miguel are still drinking. After only three shots Miguel is spilling the frijoles about the contract between Rogelio and his sister. Ulisses tries to get Miguel to stop drinking, but he pours another shot. Miguel is surprised that Bruno doesn't know about it. Bruno tells him to find a copy of that contract so he can look at it and reassure themselves that all is well for Miguel's family. We know that Rogelio didn't want Bruno to know anything in that contract. Miguel looks a little apprehensive as he downs another shot. The bottle is already 1/3 empty and Ulisses notes that as he passes by.
Lagunas deMontebello: Margarito and Tia MentiRosa are at a table while Ana Paula and Rogelio continue their conversation.
Ana Paula: I understand it was a scary moment, but you know you can swim. Don't you like the feeling of freedom in the water?
Rogelio (Sarcastically): Of course! It's been ages since I last ran into the water to save somebody!
Ana Paula: Rogelio! There are therapies we can do in the water! (he starts looking interested) You just have to relax a little.
Rogelio: That's crazy!
Ana Paula: Look, before I'm your wife I'm your nurse. While we're here we'll do your therapy in the water and I'm not taking “no” for an answer.
Rogelio: No!
Ana Paula: Why not?
Margarito: Are we going to eat or what?

From Rogelio's expression, we see that Ana Paula got to him. And from her expression we see that she knows it.
Café, outside tables: Ulisses points out to Maripaz that Miguel has been drinking with Bruno all afternoon. He's concerned about this and lets her know that she can't date Miguel if this repeats itself. While he's shown overprotective tendencies in the past, this is an area of legit concern.
Café Bar: Miguel pours himself another shot; the bottle is now half empty. Bruno convinces him that he needs to get a copy of that contract because it was possibly done in bad faith. Miguel agrees, but as he downs yet another shot we know he's going to bungle it.
Boca del Cielo, near the beachside Café: Juan approaches Gustavo and the two are about to fight when Fermin shows up. Gustavo tells him that he knows he's in cahoots with David and that he will not allow Juan to blacken his name; Fermin points out that the village hangs together. This does not look or feel good.
Lagunas de Montebello: We hear a helicopter as we see Ana Paula, Tia MentiRosa, and Margarito at a table playing cards. Rogelio comes out of the cabin in a t-shirt and swim trunks (black, as usual). MentiRosa asks if she can help him with something and he replies “You, no, but Ana Paula yes.” He's ready for his therapy. He exchanges smiles with Ana Paula. Both smile as their love theme begins.
Boca del Cielo: Gustavo has the burden of proving his innocence in this situation. He still tries to warn Fermin that something will happen if they don't listen to him and let him do what he needs to do. Juan keeps up with the smirky condescending expression. This is going nowhere fast.
Lagunas de Montebello: As their love theme plays Ana Paula is standing in the water next to Rogelio who is floating on his back. Although we only see the halter straps we know she had changed into a bathing suit. She tells Rogelio to relax, but as she is about to begin his therapy he moves in for the kiss.

Commercial Break, leading with a promo for UFCS and ET.
Lagunas de Montebello: Rogelio kisses Ana Paula, who is not resisting for at least four lines of the music. However, she breaks it and turns her face away because it seems to disturb her.
Rogelio: Don't be upset. It bothers you I did that. I never know how to handle these moments.
Ana Paula: Rogelio –
Rogelio: Don't say anything. All this with you... I'm enjoying it.
Ana Paula: Then I'm happy for you.
Rogelio: I've thought it might be a good idea to live here,
Ana Paula: Yes, but for now I think we need to go. (shouts for Hugo. Rats.)
San Gabriel: Maripaz leads Miguel outside, annoyed that he's been drinking. She tells him she doesn't like seeing her friends drink. He manages to cut off her questions about what contract he and Bruno were discussing and suggests they go for a walk. They walk off together. Madre Dios, she could do so much better.
Boca del Cielo: Juan and Fermin keep talking about Carmen's interest in Gustavo. We find out that Juan wants Carmen and he tries to talk himself up for that. This goes back to before she was married to Santiago (Fermin's son). This is not going to a good place.
Lagunas de Montebello, night: Rogelio has a dream sequence in which he and Ana Paula walk along the lake shore to the sound of their love theme. They're happy, laughing, and she's wearing a pretty white dress with spaghetti straps, a plunging neckline, and an asymmetrical ruffle that covers her knees. They embrace, he picks her up and spins around, they embrace again and they kiss, this time with her fully participating. All the females in Viewerville would happily take her place. He's clearly liking this dream. At the same time Ana Paula wakes up in her bed and looks out the window, whispering “Why did you leave?” as she remembers walking along the beach with Gustavo and him giving her the shell necklace. “Why did you go? Why did you leave me?” Lagrimas.
San Gabriel: Esteban goes to see Vainessa, who is being her usual self. We're wondering whether her necklace is supposed to be the butterfly from Mujeres Asesinas or a bat because she's such a vamp(ire).
Esteban: It's a misunderstanding. Mercedes and I are not novios.
Vainessa (sarcastically, but like a kid in a schoolyard): Yes, yes, but you referred to her as your novia.
Esteban: Vainessa, it wasn't like you heard. It was a total joke.
Vainessa: That wasn't how it looked.
Esteban (smiling incredulously): Are you jealous of a friend?
Vainessa: I can't deny it. Yes, it made me feel bad.
Esteban (starting to take her hands while moving closer): Vanessa....
Vainessa (backing off): No, no.
Esteban: Look, now that you and Rogelio are splitsville I'm seeking you out because we might have another chance.
Metallic sound, like a cross between an anvil strike and a Chinese gong, underscores Vainessa's expression of muy impactadidad (if there be such a word).
Commercial Break.
Lagunas de Montebello: Ana Paula stands out on the deck. Tia MentiRosa comes out with a shawl draped over herself.
MentiRosa: What's up, Ana Paula? Why can't you asleep?
Ana Paula: Auntie, I dreamt about Gustavo. He was in the river like the day I met him. Alive. I shouted and shouted toward him, but he didn't hear me. It's horrible to feel that he is alive but he's not here.
MentiRosa (looking very uncomfortable): Would you like us to say a rosary for his eternal rest?
Ana Paula: I'd like to.
MentiRosa: [Need help with her first line] Would you like me to stay with you tonight?
Ana Paula: No; don't worry about me.
MentiRosa: I like this place very much; I'm glad we came here. How different your life is now that you're the wife of Rogelio Montero.
Ana Paula (really wishing she could change the subject): Auntie... Rogelio kissed me.
MentiRosa (amused rather than miffed): He kissed you? And why didn't you tell me something this important?
Ana Paula: I don't know. I'm still asking myself why he did it. I didn't see it coming.
MentiRosa: Well, how do you feel about it?
Ana Paula: I feel … bad. I thought about Gustavo.
MentiRosa: Well, you have to know that little by little, at your husband's side, you'll learn to forget about Gustavo. Hijita, the memory is only a dream. Your reality is here. Ay, wait... Here's a good book. If you can't sleep, read.
Like that's going to solve her problems. Is this a self-help book?
Boca del Cielo: Fermin finds out that his nieta is angry with him over Gustavo. She blames him for Gustavo's departure.
San Gabriel: Vainessa and Esteban continue their conversation.
Vainessa: You're right, Esteban. We needed to talk about a lot of things when we separated.
Esteban: I'm glad you remember.
Vainessa: Of course the divorce was my fault. Because I didn't value you enough and couldn't love you as you deserved.
Esteban (starts to smile; boy is he gullible): But what about Rogelio? Are you clear on how you feel about him?
Vainessa: You don't know how angry I am thinking about the disgrace. The way he left me... Look at what happened!
Esteban: I believe it was in bad taste. And it hurts me to see you hurt.
Vainessa: Esteban, the truth is... you're incredible.
Esteban: No. I'm a man like any other. It's just that I'm in love.
We hope he doesn't believe her because we don't.
Casa Galván: Federico and Elsa la Vaca sit at the dining table and talk.
Elsa: Frankly, I don't understand you. Don't you want our daughter to forget Rogelio?
Federico: Of course that's what I most want.
Elsa: Therefore, why do you criticize me for wanting her to be near Esteban? It's the best thing that could happen. He's a good man and he loves her.
Federico: Woman, don't deceive yourself. If she didn't love him before, she doesn't love him now. You pushed her into this marriage with him. Neither does it do any good for her to make him suffer.
Elsa: And you? Nothing I do looks good to you.
Federico: It's you. You justify anything to get what you want. You are very selfish.
Elsa: I'm selfish? Well, yes; because I put my daughter before everything and everyone.
Federico: In truth are you putting her first or yourself?
Elsa: Eres insupportable. To show you what's up from this point on she is taking charge of my shares in the business.
Federico: And this is because...
Elsa: Well, because she needs to learn how to manage the business because someday it will be hers. If she manages my share, the less you have to do.
Federico shakes his head.

Boca del Cielo: Fermin and Carmen talk about Gustavo. He wants Carmen to find a man worthy of her and her daughter. He has doubts about Gustavo and she asks if this is solely on the basis of what Juan said about him. Finally, she tells him that kids are always right when it comes to seeing into people. WTF??? If kids were as smart as Bruno of LFDD, there wouldn't need to be a Megan's Law.

Haciende de Fuerte, cocina: Efrain and Consuelo sit at the kitchen table having a snack. She flirts with him as Maria cooks. He gives her a merde-eating grin as she puts something in his mouth. Sinthia enters just in time to see this and She Is Not Amused.
Sinthia: Maria! I don't want to eat alone in the dining room. Bring my dinner up to my room.
Maria: Yes, but wouldn't you prefer to dine with us? (she gestures, meaning in the kitchen)
Sinthia: Of course not. (Pointedly takes a grape from the bunch while staring at Efrain, then turns her back on him and exits. He stares after her bonbon and laughs as she sashays out).
Maria: And you? What are you laughing at?
Efrain: Me? At nothing.

But Maria knows better.

Lagunas de Montebello: Ana Paula is standing on the deck looking out over the lake when Hugo wheels Rogelio in and departs.
Rogelio: Good morning.
Ana Paula: Good morning. How are you today?
Rogelio: Great. I want to do a lot of things.
Ana Paula: And your plan for the day? (Tia MentiRosa and Margarito enter)
MentiRosa: We just asked about a beautiful beach right near here. It has such a divine name.
Rogelio: Boca del Cielo?
Ana Paula: Boca del Cielo?
MentiRosa: Si. Let's go there.
Margarito: Si. I want to see it!

Ana Paula is muy impactada. Por supuesto.
Commercial Break.
Boca del Cielo: Gustavo is alone on the beach when Mercedes calls him on his cell. She asks him if he's found a girl there and he tells her he's not ready yet. He asks about Esteban. This can't be forced; they both realize that this will take time.
Lagunas de Montebello: MentiRosa suggests they go to the beach, Rogelio is up for it, so is Margarito. Ana Paula tries to change his mind, but he's determined.
Hacienda de Fuerte: Sinthia catches Efrain picking flowers. She tells him he needs to decide between her and Consuelo. He points out that she has a novio and he reminds her that he wants to get married and have kids. She won't share him with anyone. He can't give her anything in the way of money or luxury. Her cell rings; it's David. Their connexion is bad (in more ways than one) but she starts talking about their wedding in order to make Efrain jealous. He throws the flowers on the ground and she laughs. She then holds up her cell to test the signal.
San Gabriel: Maripaz and Consuelo talk about the goings on at the hacienda. Consuela sings Ana Paula's praises.
Hacienda de Fuerte: Bruno is going through the same cabinet as Sinthia did earlier. She catches him in the act.
Boca del Cielo: Julieta goes out onto the beach and meets up with Gustavo. Juan is following Carmen, who doesn't seem happy with this. Gustavo explains to the girl that unmarried adults can have more than one novio for a while.
Hacienda de Fuerte: He admits what he's up to and she tells him she is looking for her father's will. She starts flirting with him. Neither got what he wanted. For now.
Boca del Cielo: Carmen walks off with Julieta and Juan gives Gustavo a dirty look.
Lagunas de Montebello: MentiRosa asks Rogelio about Federico and their business arrangement. And whether Fed knows that he was never really in love with Vainessa.

Avances:
Rogelio admits to himself that he's in love with Ana Paula!
No new vocabulary tonight, but I might review the last segment in the morning to see if any of the dialogue needs to be more explicit here. I was able to get a head start on the rest of it yesterday because the segments were available.

Thanks U.A. for a fast and terrific summary of tonight's episode.

The "new' Rogelio is not only getting past his pride with Ana Paula, but is even being nice to Marianito and even Tia --sort of. From the beginning, he had Tia's number, but I always found it interesting that he never told Paula what he thought about her as though he didn't want to hurt her with the truth about her aunt which she obviously is blind to.

The kiss: I was watching closely and it seemed as though Ana Paula was into it for awhile --responsive and kissing with eyes closed. Then confusion set in and she broke away. So in true telenovela fashion, I'm sure she will run into Gustavo in the next episode or two.
Interesting that when Ana Paula told Tia that Rogelio kissed her (sounding like a teenager)she seemed so surprised. Obviously she still doesn't get that he's in love with her and still is holding on to the idea that he only married her to get revenge on Vanessa. She is really astute about Rogelio's psychology and deals with him well, but is so blind and naive when it comes to herself and her relationships with others.

Thank you so much UA for this wonderful fast recap. Oh, Miguel, he is following his father's path, although Bruno was pushing the alcohol on him. I guess Bruno thought if he got Miguel drunk enough, he would spill the beans. Rohell never wanted Bruno to know what was in that contract.

Loved Sin's snooping too, lol. She is entitled to know what is in that will. Sin and Effer are so made for each other, and I think Maria already suspects what is going on.

I just knew Rohell would go into the water after the Cupcake. He was swimming pretty well. I like how the Cupcake is giving him therapy in the water. The Cupcake is very confused right now. She is still greiving for Gus and doesn't know how to handle Rohell's affection. I wonder if they will run into Gus when they go to Boca del Ceilo.

I don't like what David is doing. Doesn't Gus have the power to shut him down, since he works for the agency that protects those waters? I am not liking Juan at all, and neither is Carmen. I think Carmen knows he is a real jerk. Julieta doesn't like Juan either. Some kids have good instincts about good and bad people and I think this little girl is one of them. And Fermin should have heard Gus out the other day. I hope Fermin sees what a scum Juan and David are.

Thanks for the fast recap, UA.

I'm an idiot. I had always assumed that Bruno drew up the contrato. Wonder who it was, then. And what horrors are hidden there. Too much has been made about AP signing without reading. Despite my love of Rohell, I suspect great acts of douchebaggery are in store.

Urban, you were in to top form today. Lady Chatterley and the stablehand are almost interrupted by the scullery maid, indeed! Perfect.
I love your title, I had forgotten about that old song until now.
Toxic Tia-also perfect.
Your dialogues are so helpful, I wish I had time to watch it again after reading your conversations. Can you speak Spanish as well as you understand it?
I thought Miguel was having trouble understanding Macaria’s comment about not trifling with her daughter. His once eyebrow almost became a knot while he was trying to figure that out.
Yeah, Maria’s wheels were turning. I think Sinthia and Efrain are actually in love, of course he’s a rascal.
That Tostitos cart was driving me nuts. What were they putting in those Tostito bags?
When I was a child we used to go to the fair, and there was a vendor selling something they called “pepper bellies”. Beef and green peppers sautéed together and poured into a Frito bag (there were no Tostitos in those days) over some fritos, with some other fixings and hot sauce. This is what this looked like. It made me so hungry, at 1030 pm at night. This new schedule is going to drive me crazy!
You described that dream perfectly. It was very sad, and now we know Rohell is totally in love with AP.
NJ Sue: yes, either AP will run into Gus at the beach or the writers will toy with us and have them spend another episode almost running into each other.
Madelaine: I like Sin, also, of course she has a right to know what is going on.

Just to let everyone know I will try to get a head start on recapping as long as I'm the Monday person and I can find the episode online. I couldn't find the segment after the last commercial break or this would have been posted an hour earlier.

NJ Sue, I agree with you about Rogelio's approach regarding Tia MentiRosa. He knows that Ana Paula isn't ready to see the truth about her. Since she has no other relatives (that anyone knows of) that would be pulling the rug out from under her, which is what his accident did to him. He seems to be learning something about "do unto others." Which you don't need to be religious to realize is the right way.

Juan is a creep and he's obviously being bribed by David. I suspect that at some point we'll get to a point of almost no return when Gustavo will have to save the day in that town. Fermin, as an old man who lived there all his life, is more inclined to be persuaded by another person from there rather than an outsider from a larger ciudad.

I am also wondering whether -- like in Amor Real -- Ana Paula will encounter Gustavo after she realizes she loves Rogelio.

Emarie, I don't get enough practice speaking Spanish these days although I can have social conversations in it. I speak Televisa, too, and have told the actors I've met at Univision parties that they are my teachers. I would like to take a class because verb conjugation still confuses me a little.

BTW, thanks to the opera and late-night showings of Terra Nostra I'm also starting to learn Italian!

UA: Your translating the interesting and important conversations was extremely helpful! This was absolutely wonderful. Your description of the events was interesting and insightful. Very well done!

"Lady Chatterley and the stablehand" and "Ana Paula looks at Toxic Tia and shakes her head at this latest estupidez" were a few of my favorites. This had me smiling throughout.

EMarie, for all their posturing and games, I agree that ...Sinthia and Efrain are actually in love, of course he’s a rascal". And of course, we love that Fabian Robles is just that :)

Thanks again UA. I'd like to see this heat up a bit - the pace is a little too leisurely. But, as everyone's noted, things will heat up as soon as Gustavo and Ana meet again.

Diana

Miguel is a loose lipped loser. Ana has sacrificed everything - her life and happiness for him. And how does he repay her? By consorting with the enemy, fueled by liquor and self pity. A combustible combination certainly.

NJ Sue, so good to see your post! ITA with "the kiss". Inexplicable guilt is what pulled Ana out of the kiss. Silly girl.

Urban: The VERBS! Yeah, well. I have been trying to conquer the verbs for almost two years. Forgeddaboudit!

"Fed, like any proper company owner, has a bar in his office." Loved this little snide aside, along with many of the others that have been mentioned. Great little title, too, UA!

Forgot to mention : Rohell needs to keep his long pants on.

What this series needs is a serious love theme, like the ones Jorge Avendano composed for Corazon Salvaje (1993) and Mariana de la Noche.

Here is a clip from MdlN that includes it, but not the best part of it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xYDXqEF40s&feature=related

UA, thanks for the marvelous recap. I loved the detailed conversations!

Rohell's dream was sweet and sad.

How funny were Bruno and Cinthia snooping around in Rohell's office? I was waiting for them each to circle around the office, rifling thru papers, and then bump into each other back to back.

Does anyone think that Lady Chatterley will end up with the stablehand in the end? Or will Consuelo geld him first when she finds out about them?

While hunting clips from MdlN for an example of the music I saw a lot of Jorge Salinas' best screen kisses. Ay, dios mio! He needs to have something done about his hairline so he can have at least another 10 years as a leading man.

Gracia UA—another stellar recap. Your dialogue is the best. Most of the time I'm lucky to get a couple of lines and miss the whole point of the conversation.

You're right that David & Juan are in cahoots. David approached him first about delivering the loyalty of the fisherfolk, then Juan demanded his money up front and so David had to open his wallet. An unholy alliance.

This kiss was pretty smoldering, but Ana Paula's conscience surfaced before she got too far into it. And Miguel has sunk pretty low under the weight of that Eyebrow. He'll need a boatload of redemption now that he's spilled the beans to Bruno.

The director seems to like these Laurel & Hardy scenes like the one with Cindy & Bruno in Roho's study. They did this in the hospital not long ago with AP & Gus just missing each other for what seemed like a full five minutes.

Great recap UA. Excellent detail and many clever insights, my favorite:

"Their connexion is bad (in more ways than one)"

That made me chuckle.

Either Margarito is not very bright or Rogelio has not been nearly so harsh with him as we've been led to believe. He was pretty cheeky with his intrusion on an obviously private moment between Rog and AP with his impatience over lunch and the soft drinks. He was really pushing it.

I was wanting to say, "Cool it kid, let the grownups talk," but Rogelio seemed to overlook his obnoxiousness.

I really enjoy watching Cinthia... and not only for the obvious reasons. She has really grown as an actress since Velo de Novia. As many others have noted, she and Efraín have great chemistry together.

Carlos

Actually, what I just thought of is that since Skelator knows that Ana Paula signed without reading he might try to forge a worse one and replace the original to start trouble for Rogelio.

I don't remember whether we saw the other lawyer but he would have a copy of this contract and that scheme can be blown to bits.

Now, the next thing that should happen when they get back to the hacienda is for Rogelio to get a pool installed. That should make everyone happy, not to mention opportunities for late-night skinny dipping for Lady Chatterley and the stablehand, which will amuse all of us.

The tostitos bag: There are many different names for this "snack" and many different ways to prepare it. Google "Tostilocos". The way I've had it prepared in Mexico sounds really gross, but in fact, it was delicious and I find myself craving it at times and I've made it at home. When I sauce the cart my mouth immediately started to water!

*Bag of Tostitos
*Chile sauce from a bottle (the Valentina brand is what I always see them use)
*Chamoy Sauce (a savory sauce made from pickled fruit)
*Chopped cucumber
*Chopped jicama
*Cacahuates japonesas (Japanese peanuts). Not sure why they're called Japanese, but they are peanuts with some kind of a coating on them and are a very popular snack
*Small bits of Tamarind pulp
*Generous squeeze of lime
Mix well and enjoy.

The person slices open the top of the bag, adds all the ingredients and hands you the bag with a spoon and a napkin. $2.00 on the beach in Puerto Penasco, Sonora.

Other things are added sometimes - including shredded chicken, lettuce, cueritos (pickled pork rind).

Tks so much UA

There really didn't seem to be a lot of therapy going on in the lake. Floating doesn't do much good. The beso was good though.

I keep expecting Tía to turn like the snake she is on the kid.

Loved Rogelio's wet dream.

UA:

Thanks for the recap. Not only was it good as always and thorough but you post so FAST! I also loved your comment that your speak "Televisa". Very amusing.

I liked the scene where AP and Rogelio were back in the lake, doing his aqua therapy. It seemed symbolic—like getting back on the metaphoric horse for Rogelio. A slight sign of more adult behavior on his part, instead of letting the fall into the lake ruin the trip.

Love the idea of having a pool installed at the hacienda! Brilliant.

I am sort of dreading the inevitable Gus/Ana reconnection. I can hardly watch any scene with Miguel. LOSER.

EJ

Melissa- They're getting fancy there in Rocky Point. When I was in Guadalajara a few years ago there were people selling potato chips with just a squirt of lime juice and some hot sauce and they were great. Until they made me sick. Make sure they're squeezing the lime in it and not just adding lime juice mixed with water.

Weren't AP and Rogelio standing about the same distance away from the cabin as the boat was the other day? Thank God Hugo was there to save them from the 4 feet of water. He like a super here, that Hugo.

Kelly

word ref. Nachio. Forgot Doritos. I was some nachios.

Kelly - Yes, Rocky Point is real fancy now with all the condos! LOL You can even get a massage right on the beach. They still do the chips with lime/salsa everywhere too.

Elna June - I too think Miguel is a loser - a TOTAL LOSER. I don't think there's anything they will be able to do to this story that will redeem him for me. He's not evil - just a stupid loser. I can barely stand to look at his face. LOL

Awecome recap UA. I had to laugh at the Tostitos commericial they put in their.

So I guess Bruno is using Miguel to try to find the contract. I think Rog hid it well.

Speaking of which, I was surprised when he jumped in the water after AP. I'm glad that Hugo helped to get them both back on the boat.

I think AP was getting into the kiss but the guilt set in. Seems she and Gus are on a collision course to bump into each other since they will both be at the same place. It's inevitable.

Rog finally admits that he's in love. Awww.

I wasn't surprised in view of how he reacted to AP's riding accident.

Now if she can only persuade him to let Sinthia take a nice long trip to Europe he could send MentiRosa packing back to Tuxtla, but that might make things too easy for them.

"The course of true love never did run smooth." -- Horace Rumpole

Somebody mentioned the other day they didn't like Sin's hair. It reminds me of a horse's mane. I think in PVAA she had a curl in her hair too. Maybe when they filmed this, the humidity was high and it just frizzed. In the advances her hair looks really nice.

Thanks UA for the recap. I have to make myself watch the episode before I read the recap or I probably won't watch it. But it was so tempting to read it first because of how the last episode ended.
The kiss was nice except I wanted AP to stop knitting her brow through it and act like she was enjoying it more.
I really hope AP doesn't see Gus until she is totally in love with Rog. If she sees him before that, then she'll never give Rog a chance.
It seems to me that Maria has already figured out Sin's attachment to Effer. I'm hoping down the line that since Rog fell for someone below his station and is in love with her, eventually he will allow Sin to do the same with Effer.
With this love story developing with Rog and AP, I tend to not care too much about the other story lines. I know they are important too, but I do the same with a good romance novel. I like to skip ahead to the good parts. It's just as well I can't do this with these episodes. I'm forced to be patient and savor it.

Thank you so much for this recap, UA. As always, I appreciate your dialogs so much.

I found the dream sequence where Rohell can walk to be so, so poignant and sad. When I first saw this episode, it broke my heart a little. Aw, Rog.

As for the kiss, no woman lets a man kiss her for that long, let alone responds to him for that long, if she doesn't feel something for him. She just let Gus get in the way. Aw well, she still has Gus issues to get through.

I didn't know what Rog would do when AP fell in the water. I thought he did pretty damn well! The look he had when Hugo swam out, and AP insisted that Hugo drag Rohell in the boat first--Rohell had such an expression of defeat, of shame. Like he wanted to be the one to rescue HER, and here she is insisting that HE be rescued. If only he would see that it was a lot that he jumped in the water after her and could have at least done something, had she needed it.

And I was also saddened by the look of defeat on his face when Hugo was rolling him, wet and soggy, out of the river.

Sara, I agree, he needs to keep his long pants on. Shorts are not as becoming! LOL.

Thanks for the great recap, UA. Loved Rohell's dream and hope it inspires him to work on his therapy.
Bored, bored, bored with the fisherman/hotel construction drama. I understand it allows Gus to appear noble and intelligent, but it leaves me cold. Sorry, I'm not a good person. I only want the complex hotness that is Jorge/Rohell to prevail in winning his love and keeping me entertained. I suppose Gus and AP will meet face to face in Boca de Cielo.
Miguel el estupido! Bruno el nasti! Miguel hardly seems smart enough to tie his shoes, let alone defend his sister's interests. Get away from my TN, Miguel.
La Paloma

I don't like to see any man in shorts, including ones who are in the best shape of their lives. Shorts are so undignified.

What I was hoping with the dream was that he would stop wearing black to indicate a more positive outlook on life. But there is still time.

Rogelio has one ally: Maria. She wants this relationship to work. So does MentiRosa, but MentiRosa doesn't care about whether AP is happy or not. All she cares about is the bank account.

In terms of class distinction, I'd put AP above Efrain. She is more educated and has better manners.

Which can't be said for her brother, who is an idiot.

I forgot to add that Hugo looks very yummy without a shirt on. Maybe one day they will let him talk.

I forgot to add: Agree about the FISHERMEN. I want to snooze right through or FF right through the fishermen. I suppose we need that storyline, but it feels like the action of the episode screeches to a halt when they are on.

About Miguel and Bruno. In Miguel's defense, he doesn't know that Bruno is not trustworthy. Tia is always talking up Bruno and Bruno got him out of jail that first time. But Miguel is too into "embracing his new drunken lifestyle" (as one of you clever recappers put it) and is an easy mark for Bruno. Miguel is on a downward spiral, alas. I don't think he is beyond hope, but he's always going to be "limited," if you know what I mean. At least when he gets himself together, he's a good carpenter.

Also, I'm not sure about this, but it seems that the last line of this episode has Tia implying to Rohell that she knows he's in love with AP? He has this "Uh oh, busted!" look on his face in the final shot.

UA, thanks for a great recap. Nice revisiting this episode through your storytelling.

Miguel is such a fool. He thinks Bruno is on AP's side and will help get her out of the contract. I'm curious too about who did draw up the contract.

Hugo should've put AP in the boat first. Rogelio was floating and doing fine.

"Bored, bored, bored with the fisherman/hotel construction drama. I understand it allows Gus to appear noble and intelligent, but it leaves me cold. Sorry, I'm not a good person. I only want the complex hotness that is Jorge/Rohell to prevail in winning his love and keeping me entertained." Completely agree with all of this. The fisherman storyline is a big yawn and of course I want Rog to get the girl.

UA: you just mentioned manners and reminded me of something that bothers me about all telenovelas, esp. the last one (TdA?) and this one. These people are all s-o-o-o RUDE when their cellphones ring, even in the middle of a conversation, they don't bother to excuse themselves and step aside. They just answer and yak away leaving the other person just standing there in mid-sentence to listen in on something that has nothing to do with them. And it's not just the coarse, low-class folks, but even the protagonists, who are supposed to be attractive and charismatic.

Unfortunately, nobody who was in the business of creating cell phones ever thought to write the etiquette rules for their use. I'm active on a forum where this comes up all the time.

When I finally go back to work I will have to face the horror of presenting to rooms of people who bring in their cell phones. There is CEO of an airline who does not permit this and I applaud him for it.

Thanks for the great recap Urban. I went to be early and didn't see the show, but I felt like I did from your detailed recap.

So, our characters are being set up to bump into each other in Boca del Cielo. That should be interesting. Maybe they'll tease us and they will just keep missing each other.

Flying in before I'm off to my new gig:

Elvira: My thoughts exactly. I thought the whole Hugo rescue was probably very emasculating for Rohell.

La Paloma: Add me as a member of the bad person club. I don't care a fig for the fisherman/construction story either. I prefer "complex hotness."

I stumbled upon a picture of JS with facial. Be still my heart. *swoon* (I like facial hair.)

I'll probably be watching tonight's episode tomorrow morning.

LXV, you hit on the thing that really gets on my nerves most of all, CELL PHONE rudeness. It seems almost everyone has it. I told one friend he should have it surgically implanted in his ear, he evidently didn't understand it as an insult.

UA, thanks for the great recap.

I want a romance TN not a PSA about water pollution, etc. Lets move this thing forward.

The testamento must have some great stuff since Rogelio has hidden it so well. It is like the locked box in FELS.

Yes, the brother is a real idiot that drinks too much. What in the world does Dani see in him?

Rosemary

Thanks UA for recap and to all for the comments. I'm a day behind and just saw the episode.

Definitely starting to appreciate Ana Brenda. She's much better when not yelling and crying. She is doing very well with JS in recent scenes, definitely holding her own.

UA & Variopinta: I once taught a class of college sophomores and told them the first day of class that phones were to be turned off during the session. It didn't prevent them from face booking all over the place on their laptops while i lectured. And I emcee a concert series where I have to give the welcoming remarks and I always remind the audience to turn the darn things off. But it cracks me up to see people with bluetooths sashaying down the crowded sidewalks talking up a storm, gesticulating wildly to an unseen audience. They look like looneys.

I've thought that if we could give old cell phones to some of the people living on the streets, they'd at least blend in when they talk to themsleves. People would be more accepting of them. Mariana over in El Talisman could've used one.

I really liked this episode, although I seriously doubt she was thinking of Gus. I mean come on, THAT MAN YOU WERE KISSING WAS ROGELIO! I have the feeling that she is simply in denial, because the Gus issue happened not long ago and she feels it would be a betrayal if she would admit her growing feelings for Rogelio. That's how I see it. Although it broke my heart to see that he was dreaming of her, while she was crying about her love of three days.

Gotta admit it, despite the fact that the auntie puts her interests first, what she wants is the best thing that could happen. The last lines of the episode, if I remember them right (haven't seen ep 30 in a long time) are:

*Rosy and Rog gazing upon AP and Margarito who were playing a few meters away
Rosaura: - I am sure that in time, Ana Paula could fall in love with you
Rogelio: - Ana Paula, could you really love me some day? *puppy eyes

It was something like that.

Great recap, as always. Told ya to look after Hugo, because Uriel del Toro (the actor) is a stud. He's a well-known Mexican model and he definitely has the chops for that lol. It was sad to see Rogelio's frustration as he was trying to save Ana Paula and in the end they had to save him. Loved auntie's look when she sees Rogelio in shorts lol. Also love that he lets his big ego go and he was even shy when he grabbed Ana Paula for the kiss. So many contrasts...a man who can be so macho and menacing, is yet so vulnerable and shy. I really hope she'll fall in love with him, he's a really great guy who, as Jorge Salinas one said, suffers more from an emotional paralysis. He just needs some love and he'll be fine.

I have a fetish for wet men looking sexy, so my Rogelio fangirlism reached its peak after they got out of the water and he was lovingly looking at Ana Paula. Couldn't stop laughing with the auntie who said, giving AP the towel, that she should cover herself a bit, because everything can be seen (meaning...well....you know what).

I would totally be on AP's side with the dead boyfriend, but I simply can't, when such a manly man like Rogelio shows his true feelings and when her romance with Gus was so plain, cheesy and most importantly...SHORT! I can't see him as a galan, I just can't.

Fishermen story bores me to death

Oh and apart from the fishermen, Miguel should disappear of the face of the Earth, such a loser and a creep, with that eyebrow.

I like Gus, regardless of his height issues (he seems average height to me). He's well-proportioned. But he doesn't have the conflicted, tormented thing going like Rogelio.

Poor Miguel, I keep on calling him a dipsh*t, and he is! LOL!

Oh, and I wanted to ask, that both AP and Rogelio looked great wet. It must have been the lighting or something. She looked luminously lovely, and the lighting really brought out his great bone structure.
