Una Familia Con Suerte #139-140 Mon 2/27/12

Hi there.
I was not able to do the recap for last night. I'd forgotten to set the DVR, and I'd been away this weekend, so when I came home late, I realized what had happened but could no longer do anything about it. I apologize.

It happens, Jim!

Here's what I remember, in brief and with plenty of stuff missing:

Pina comes home and find Ana hiding in Fred's bathroom. Smarter kids would go with the obvious explanation - that she had to pee - but Pina assumess the worst and they don't contradict her. She has a fit. Fred starts packing, saying he's going to move out. But then Vice comes home and has a long mushy talk about how Mommy and Daddy aren't going to live together any more, so Fred has to stay at home and keep Moms company. And somehow it comes out that Pina's just going to have to live with the fact that Fred has a girlfriend.

Actually she or someone tells Pancho that Fred and Ana did the deed. I don't remember how that went.

Ado's mom is going to be Vice's maid.

Vice goes "home" to Candy and they have a nice evening.

Violeta goes looking for Candy. She wants to know where she lives.

Fernanda reminds Pancho that Rebeca had to put up with the same kind of uncertainty for Pancho, who's been living with his lovesick SIL the whole time. Pancho doesn't seem to see the irony.

Violeta really wants Pepe to pay for impregnating her daughter because he's such a horrible deadbeat in her eyes. Moni can't convince her otherwise.

Moni and Pepe go to the doctor for a test and it's negative. Whew. But that doesn't really solve the issues between them.

Tomas tells Pancho about Elena and Cristian. Pancho goes crazy and fires both of them. Elena lashes out at Lupe and Tomas and has a tantrum. Cristian goes home and tells his wife he needs to be "alone" for a while. She still doesn't confront him about the earring she found.

Enzo tells Chela he loves her enough to let her explore the possibility of a relationship with Pancho. She cries her head off.

Mike plans a press conference to take the blame for the badness in Miami to prove his love for Rebeca. As they're heading out to lunch, Pancho, Enzo, and the chamigos (and maybe Beto too?) see Mike pawing at Rebeca's hair and moving in for a kiss!

OMG! I just saw that William Levy will be on Dancing with the Stars paired with Cheryl Burke. Too funny for words.

Actually Pina telling Pancho that Ana and Fred did the deed was in the previews for tonight.

No worries, Jim! These things happen! I'm sorry to miss your recap but next time...

Pina didn't tell Pancho about Ana and Freddy yet; that was in the previews. Looks like fireworks tonight! Julie, I thought the same thing you did...why didn't Ana flush and run the water and then walk out all "what?" at Pina's friqueando.

If I were Rebe, and Mickey offered to turn himself in to the authorities to prove himself, I'd say, "yes, do that" and then when he was in jail I'd be all bwahahahahaha. Then he'd be out of my way and not hassling me any more.

So Cristian and Elena get fired for basically the same thing Vins and Sandra were doing? Not that they didn't deserve it, but way to be inconsistent.

SO glad Moni isn't pregnant. I liked how she handled the whole thing, though, refusing to be influenced by her horrid mother, keeping Pepe involved, calmly explaining how she felt about the situation, taking the blame for her own failings.

How could Chela sit there looking at Enzo, all handsome and kind and understanding and not yelling and bossing her around like *some* people tend to do, and still think she might be in love with Pancho? It boggles the mind.

Thank you Julie for the quick recap. I liked this episode. Although everyone seems to be heading for a breakup. I can't stand Mike. He is full of smarm, and goodness knows what he is gonna do. Rebe should stay far away from him.

I am glad Moni isn't pregnant. I don't like Violetta, I think we should start calling her Eviletta again. She has it out for Candy and Vins and Pepe. She is treating Pepe like she treated Enzzo all those years ago.

If I had been Ana, I would have said I had to pee lol. She should have done that, but Freddy and Ana both have a hard time lying. Freddy especially blushes when he lies. I can see Pina's anger, they did it in her house, but I couldn't beleive Vins told Pina to accept that Freddy has a girlfriend. What is up with Vins lately? He is being decent to both Pina and Freddy and not so much his usual self. Vins even sent Eviletta on her way, when she came to see him in his office.

Loved the three chimagos with Enzzo in tow. I am glad Enzzo switched sides and is on the good side now. I guess he is rediscovering his "naco" roots.

Enzzo is so romantic, to let the love of his life go. It was really sad, so many tears from both of them. I really hope Chela discovers she is not in love with Pancho after all. It is too strange, almost like incest, even though I know they are not related by blood.

Loved Rebe teaching Temo English. Temo actually did pretty well, especially when he told Pepe, I have no idea what is going on lol.

Oh, Elena, I am glad Tomas ratted her out to Pancho. She deserved everything she got, Christan did too. And to yell and scream at Lupe , karma will come back to bite Elena in the butt.

What was that weird Miarichi singer in those little blurbs doing? It looked like a parody? Not another character coming soon?

Julie The Pancho, Freddy, Ana confrontation is an advance, it happens tonight.

No worries Jim. The only bummer is that I really enjoy your recaps and now I don't get to, boo hoo.

Julie, thanks for the mini-cap!

Just saw the first hour but actually didn't find Vince's talk "mushy"...rather thought it was the first time he showed some maturity..... calming Pina down while asking Freddy to be mindful of his mother's feelings and possible loneliness at the time of change;defending Freddy and Ana's right to have a relationship without Pina screaming and trying to shame them etc. Actually liked Vince last night.

And was rethinking the Elena situation. Just re-reading a wonderful book by Rachel Remen,MD, Kitchen Table Wisdom, where she recounts the case of one of her patients with a long history of destructive relationships with men. But it was all triggered by a rape at knifepoint when she was an adolescent...and neither her parents nor the Church were able to offer her any comfort or help, other than covering it up and somehow shaming her for what had happened.

In Elena's case, it was her deflowering by an uncaring Freddy, but the result was the same. She feels no decent man would have her now, so she's mindlessly engaging in destructive relationships.

Now maybe our Elena is a skank..or maybe she's just a dreadfully hurt, immature young woman who'll learn and grow and be redeemed at the end. I'm hoping for the latter.

Rebe and Temo's English lesson was funny. He hasn't quite grasped the basic third person, and now they're going to discuss irregular verbs? But it was hilarious when he whipped out that English phrase on Pepe and Tom.

I thought I was hallucinating when the mariachis appeared. No idea what that is about.

Julie, thanks for the highlights.

Maybe it's my wishful thinking, but I believe Chela is over Pancho and just doesn't know it yet. From the previews, it looks like she and Pancho are going to kiss tonight. I hope when she finally gets him where she wants him, she realizes they just don't have "it" as a couple.

JudyB - interesting take on Elena. She got wonderful support from Lupita when she returned from the Brazil fiasco. No "I told you so." But she's built up such a wall of resentment against Lupita and everyone. I do think she feels empowered - but not happy - in using sex to get what she thinks she wants.

I buy that Freddy's a good guy now, but did he ever really apologize to Elena for the callous way he treated her?

Re Enzo and Chela. Yes, it boggles the mind. She's insane to take him up on that offer.

Yeah, it's ironic that Vince fired Cristian and Elena for being Vice and Sandrucha. I guess the differences being: a) a horrible lawsuit against Avon is more likely if something goes wrong with C&E, and b) he feels responsible for Elena.

Vice and Violeta - I think he's already figured out that she's too crazy for his tastes. ICBW, but I think signing the divorce papers really affected him. Don't forget, the divorce isn't completely final for another two months. Maybe they'll blink before then.

Judy, I am hoping that Elena isn't beyond repair. This is a comedy, after all. But I'm wondering how bad things will have to get for her before she finds a better path.

I'm as mystified by the mariachi teaser as the rest of you!

Niecie, no, I don't think Fred ever did aplogize to Elena. If he did, it was grudgingly. He was probably too sore over how she tried to fake a pregnancy.

I had to pee, hmmmm, looks like there are a few better liars here than Ana, lol.

I wish I had taped the show, I didn't get a good look at the pregnancy results & was afraid Monica lied to Pepe about not being preggers. She didn't show it to him.

Variopinta- the audience got to see it, it said Negativo. She didn't lie to Pepe.

Judy, interesting thoughts about destructive influences leading to skanky behavior. I'd like to believe that Elena will shape up, but I think in her case she was always skanky, even before Freddy treated her badly. She was trolling around acting like a tart, trying to pick up a rich dude to take care of her, she was just nervous about pulling the trigger. Well, once hearts had been broken, so to speak, she felt free to play that card whenever, wherever, but I don't think she's changed so much as she's just going full-force the direction she was already headed.

I think Pancho has potentially exposed the company to a bigger lawsuit by firing them when he didn't fire others who did the same thing. At least I could see someone making that case in the U.S.

I liked when Candy said to Chela something about "el perro con dos tortas". I assume she was referring to Enzo and Pancho. Good advice.

On the Elena question, I guess we have to figure out what the writers are shooting for with her.

These are morality plays, after all...morality plays in primary colors...so for now Elena is representing Bad Behavior. Reacting with corrosive envy and resentment to other people's blessings and happiness, and going after her own in a way that is destructive and dangerous.

Lupita is the Righteous Behavior...reacting to setbacks with honest grief, but also with extraordinary grace and acceptance. The Higher Path.

But Lupita loves Elena, and so does Pancho, so ultimately we have to hope this character will be redeemed. After suffering a lot and causing suffering as well, of course. And learning from it.

Interesting conversation regarding Elena and her behavior. She is treating Christian in much the same way that Freddy treated her. Elena is taking Chris for a ride without giving any regard to how their little fling affects his life. She adamantly thinks only of herself and gets angry and defensive when those who love her point out her lousy behavior.

Candy is having some great one-liners lately. I liked it when she told Chela she couldn't believe Chela is still living in Pancholandia.

I saw that tuneless, drunk mariachi too. Que the hell is up with that?

Sorry if someone has already mentioned this, but I've been meaning to ask, is Christian's wife the same actress who played Consuelo in Llena de Amor?

I hate I missed the episode. The English lesson sounds cute and I am a sucker for mariachis. SO SO glad Moni is not pregnant.

I hate what I see in the previews.

Judy B, A saint is just a sinner, who fell down and got back up.......

Who said Eviletta, that's cute. Everyone here still hating on the Queen of the Amazons

A little late (darn work is interfering) but I have vocabulary from last night:

majadero - whiner, idiot

resarcir - to repay

y la manga del muerto - etc., blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda

bulto - bulk, a time-waster or BSer

hacer la vista gorda - to look the other way

parranda - spree

no me calienta ni el sol - I'm in such a bad mood nothing would cheer me up

ir por las ramas - to beat around the bush

OH I can't wait to have a chance to use "y la manga del muerto"!!!
