El Mundo de Telemundo: Discuss among yourselves - Week of March 19

!Hola a todos!

I will get the ball rolling with Friday's CORAZÓN VALIENTE episode:

In her confrontation with Isabel, Ángela admits her love for JM. But, she says that she respects marriage vows and she loves Génesis and would not do anything to get JM for herself. Isabel doesn't believe this of course. She tells Ángela that JM will never divorce her because if he does, she will kill herself.

One of the things that Ángela accused Isabel of is that Isabel doesn't care for her own daughter because she never spends any time with her. After the confrontation, Isabel goes to see Génesis (who always seems to be going to bed) and tells her that she loves her in her own way  but she can't demonstrate it that much.

When Violeta comes in to see Génesis, Isabel tells her that she can't be friends with Génesis and if she wants to know why, she should see if her mother has the courage to tell her.

Isabel decides that she has to get both Ángela and Renzo out of her house. So when Ángela gets a note to meet JM in the garage at a certain time, we know what is going to happen.

Willy decides that he is going to work at his father's company and his first act is to interview a bevy of voluptuous secretaries while Sam waits outside.

It's Renzo who meets Ángela in the garage and forces her at gunpoint to take off most of her clothes so that they appear to be en flagrant delicto when JM and Isabel come into the garage.

I think Nelly, the maid let it slip to Emma that she knows about Emma's bipolar condition and that she found this out from Pablo.

Perla and Bernardo are having sex when Bernardo collapses.

JM fires Renzo and Ángela.

Fernanda asks why Willy doesn't want to work for their father's company and Willy says that he is not sure his father is really ill.

JM leaves a note and check for Ángela. He will continue to pay for Violeta to go to Génesis' school. When Ángela and Renzo comes downstairs, he hides in the closet. Ángela and Renzo conveniently recap the whole plot - "Why did you hold me at gunpoint and make me take off my clothes?" When Renzo leaves, JM tells Ángela that he heard everything and now he wants the truth about what she saw. Ángela doesn't want to tell him but he says to her, "I have to believe in someone and that someone is you."

Willy asks Sam if it was their sexual encounter at age 15 that made her prefer women over men. Sam says that is true. But when Willy protests that they were only 15 and it was the first time for both of them, Sam confesses that the sex was wonderful. She tells him that her problem is that afterwards he never attempted to contact her.

If Emma believes that Pablo revealed her secret to Nellie, she ought to be mad but instead she tells Pablo how much she respects his discretion and devotion to duty and then she tries to kiss him. He pulls back and says that he can't get involved with a client.

When JM continues to demand that Ángela tell him what she saw, she replies that she wishes she didn't have to hurt him any more.

When Renzo gives Isabel his card and suggests that they get together sometime, she tells him that she isn't interested. She loves her husband.

Willy tells Sam that he wrote and tried to call her many times but heard nothing and concluded that she wasn't interested in him. At first Sam doesn't believe this but Willy convinces her that he is speaking the truth and they wonder which of their parents intercepted all the attempts at communication.

Perla calls the paramedics for Bernardo. His eyes were rolled up but when Perla is looking the other way, he looked normal for a second and I thought he was faking the whole thing.

Isabel calls Bernardo but of course he isn't there and she leaves the world's longest phone message. She says that she got what she wanted but she still isn't happy - no surprise there. Happy isn't in her emotional repertoire.

Fernanda fantasizes about killing Isabel.

If Isabel wasn't happy before, she really isn't happy when JM tells her that he knows about her and Renzo and that this is the end of their marriage. When JM leaves, Isabel is attacked by memories of her abusive mother.

Willy rushes to the hospital when he hears about his father. He is told that Bernardo is in intensive care with a heart attack. [So is this real?] Fernanda calls the hospital and wants to know whether it's worth the trouble of going there - is Bernardo dead already?

Perla tells Sam that she and Bernardo have been lovers for many years. Sam asks if it was Perla who tried to keep her an Willy apart. Perla denies it.

JM tells Isabel that she has to leave the house. He will support her is a luxurious apartment and she can spend all the money she wants but Génesis is staying with him. Isabel refuses to accept that. She says that she will go to court and get custody. Finally, she tells JM about Ángela's confession that she loves JM.

Over to you!

Thanks as always, Jean.

Willy and Sam's talk in last night's Corazón Valiente reinforced, along with those ever-so-brief flashbacks of Sam's from the previous couple of episodes, that Sam has a Deep Dark Secret in her past which seems to be why she's so gunshy about opening up to him. Since the flashbacks appeared to be of someone in labor, I'm wondering if she had or lost a child way back when--presumably Willy's.

As for last night's Relaciones Peligrosas: some stuff happened, but mostly it was

Intensity by Calvin Klein...er, Olivia Cluster

Seriously--she's constantly demanding that Mauricio and Miranda, mostly Miranda, own up to their parts in NPS ("No puede ser!"), albeit keeping it quiet when Carmen shows up to talk to Miranda about how she's been so helpful to her son (and cloaking it in the form of Miranda not "tutoring" her prize pupil any more). She tends to stare intently, yet strangely...blankly?...at everybody anyway, like she's trying to make their heads explode a la Scanners, but it actually gets worse when she's doing it to Miranda. Olivia's also intimidating her via cellphone later in the episode as well, going all 80s cop show and insisting that while she and Mauricio effectively got a free pass in Georgia due to its age of consent laws it's only a matter of time before the truth comes out and Miranda goes DOWN for what happened before that. (I'd say that Daniela Navarro is trying to channel Angelica Celaya's doomed Eva Zanetti from Alguien te mira, only younger, but we still don't know--yet--what Juan Pablo's endgame is.)

The above makes it kind of ironic that JP, who apparently hacked the MPD while I wasn't looking and was able to pull some of the records about Mauricio's fingerprints on that piece of condom wrapper (watching , finally connects the dots and goes to Miranda's to confront her about how she's involved with Mau...

- Armando did get the Renato Conde treatment after all; the poor guy can't even blow his brains out in peace before Santiago shows up to stop him. Santi initially goes off on various tangents for why his father would even consider doing this, but Armando does at least explain part of his trip to the doctor (the "only a few months or so to live" part, not the "tumor in my brain" part; you'd think that would be more important, but I guess that goes back to the lack of "What can we do about it?" in the original scene with the doc).

- The obligatory "Well, that figures" bit comes courtesy of Joaquin and Gonzo. While Gonzo and Liz are studying for Ana's test, with the assistance of the Adderall he scored from Javier, Joaco takes a break from working out (shirtless, of course) in a park to call him and demand he return the gold coins he lifted from the stash he dug up. Gonzo blows him off, declaring he pawned the coins; Joaco apparently locates the pawn shop in question offscreen and confirms this, and that they were asking $3,000 for the coins. So he naturally flips out, jumps Gonzo in the Cervantes parking lot, and beats him down.

The part that figures is that this happens after Patty talks to a depressed Teresa Vargas about hiring him in the school cafeteria; Teresa decides to interview him as her final act as principal. So of course Patty happens to see Gonzo's karmic beatdown courtesy of Joaco. She's not happy about it at all.

Relaciones Peligrosas: viernes (p. 2)

- Gilberto and Violeta are happy enough for everybody else thanks to Ana's winning the election. Gilberto, naturally, goes for the mid-range champagne ($78 a bottle according to Google, via Violeta) since they'll be able to afford it once she's making a principal's salary and he's making a vice-principal's salary. Ana for her part isn't very thrilled about this.

- Max gets some space filler with his dad, which basically goes "Come over here and say hi to me, you wretch!" and "Your friends are scum. Find new ones before they drag you down." (WRT Gonzo, it's not like Andres is wrong, but...)

- Oh, and Indio? Someone decided to cut their losses and kill him in his (prison) hospital bed, apparently by suffocating him with a pillow. This is good news for Mauricio and Manuel, since in theory this blunts the threat to them and the rest of the Blancos--Orlando decides to bring them back to Miami, since "that would be the last place anybody would look for them" post-initial relocation (thump, thump, thump). On the other hand, according to Olivia and her partner/sidekick, the fact that someone got to Indio there indicates that he was connected to some unspecified powerful people somewhere. Now taking bets on JP or his former suegro being revealed as a secret druglord...

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

Bill, you and I think alike, I also have suspected JP may be a druglord, I said in a recap last week he could be the pez gordo the cops were looking for. As for how he got the fingerprints, Olivia had the printout in her purse, and when she went to the bathroom, he looked inside, got the paper, and took a picture with her cellphone. I also think Olivia will work with him, but at some point she'll be expendable, and get killed in time to get Mau and Mir off the hook again.

One thing I've been noticing is that everyone gets away with EVERYTHING. Each day, someone gets caught, but is free by the next episode. Teresa catches Liz and Gonzo having sex in the closet, but Liz is making some deal with her Dad Ricardo and instead of both kids getting expelled, they're back to normal.

Miranda and Mau have gotten caught and gotten out of it at least 5 times so far. Gonzo, Liz and Leo do bad stuff daily, and ALWAYS get out of it. The only one who didn't was Indio, who DID get released at first, but apparently the writers have enough other bad guys not to need him.

So, even though Patty saw Joaco beating up Gonzo, I'm betting Joaco will be back soon, maybe even still getting the cafeteria job.

Gilberto was funny trying to get Ana to use sex toys and wear a red plastic dress. Does he even KNOW her?!

I liked what Leo said to Andres. "The day a child gets hit by his father, he becomes an adult. And that same day, the father becomes a child." Take that, Andres!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Excellent recap, Jean. Last night's episode was definitely action packed.

Yes, it was confusing that Emma didn't appear to be outraged Pablo had told Nelly her secret. I can't remember, but I don't think he did. Did she overhear someone?

Telenovelas love scheming women, don't they? In these writer's minds, most woman, except the saintly protagonists, are willing to pull any kind of underhanded trick to get the guy who interests them.

I must say that both José Luis Reséndez and Fabián Ríos are doing a great job of erasing their crappy roles in Herederos from my mind. They are BOTH so appealing.

I thought Willy was doing the lecherous job interviews to get under Sam's skin, as he did with the vet. He wants to get a reaction out of her. I think he hopes jealousy will cause her to soften up toward him.

It's unconscionable what Isabel did. And I was thrilled they didn't waste tons of time until JM found out. On a Univisión novela, that would have taken MONTHS to come out. It was awful the way she ordered little Violeta out of Génesis's room, hurting both little girls. It's always all about Isabel all the time.

Wow, Aylín Mújica really brings the evil, doesn't she. I've never watched one of her novelas in its entirety. I saw her in something where she played twins, one of them a nun and the other one a baddie, but I only saw a couple of episodes. It was kind of funny seeing Ofelia's shocked face when Fer asked if she should bother to hurry to the hospital; i.e., is he already gone? Something about her oddly shaped face and terrible hair color puts me off, but she's a good actress.

I think karma got Bernie. He's been manipulating his children. They were both out of the country, and he faked some illness to get them back. And now he has a heart attack. He seems to have a major role in the novela, so I'm sure he'll recover.

What I WISH they'd get into is the mysterious Ofelia. Judging by her grief, she appears to love Bernie. Darío hinted a while back that he had a thing for her. She seems to have always been around Fernanda, who treats her like crap all the time. Inquiring minds want to know.

CORAZON
Jean, I had the same whiplash moment about Bernie's heart attack! I thought I saw a moment of lucidity when Perla turned her back, but the scene at the hospital made it look pretty real. I guess that says something about this TN that it's constantly making me doubt myself...

As a sidebar, I happened to come across a Confesiones de Telenovelas video on youtube last night talking about the feud between Katie B. and Aylin... that Aylin's current husband used to be Katie's two-year boyfriend and he left her for Aylin! They interviewed Katie, and she sounded pretty bitter. The fact that they're all three working together must make for some interesting tension on the set!

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Great recap, Jean. I just want to say that if I had Kati Barbieri in my room in pink bra and panties, I'd have a heart attack, too! I really think she looks terrific, especially since she's the Mom of one of the main characters (who, of course, looks awesome, too).

GENERAL:

I just saw Casa de Mi Padre, with Will Ferrell, Genesis Rodriguez, and a bunch of other latino actors, including Sandra Echeverria in a minor role. It was hilarious! Too bad it's just playing in one theater in the Baltimore area, and there were only about 15 people in the theater. I think everyone would like it, even if you don't get all the campy jokes. It's totally in Spanish, but has subtitles. The music, the special effects, everything is way over the top, and I mean this in a good way.

GENERAL

Hombre, a woman from my Spanish class and I are going to see Casa de Mi Padre on Monday (my day off; I'm on a 4-day schedule).

I read an article about how hard Will Ferrell worked on his Spanish. If I remember correctly, it said he took Spanish in high school, but had forgotten nearly all.

It's supposed to be a spoof of TN's and I can hardly wait to see it!

CORAZON VALIENTE:
Thanks so much Jean. I just finished watching my recording of the show. I was so relieved that the good guy was eavesdropping and heard the truth (a rarity in tns). Love that it go resolved so quickly.

So was it Sam's or Willy's parents who conspired to keep them apart, or both? The result was that they both stopped believing in love. I hope Sam tells Willy the big dark secret soon. At this point, they both know that they felt very deeply for each other at age 15 and they were separated by the adults. It wasn't either of their faults.

I felt like Emma was testing Pablo when she kissed him after finding out he told the maid about her illness. I guess we'll see. She loves playing games, as Pablo says, so who knows what her next crazy move will be.

I actually kind of agreed with Isabel that it's better for her to love/mother Genesis at more of a distance, than to be the overbearing, smothering kind of mother she had-- if those are the only two modes Isabel is capable of.

Bernie looked like he was faking it to me. But I don't know how he would then convince the paramedics and docs to go along with the lie. Kudos to him and Katie B., two actors who are past their youngster phase, for looking so good in their undies.

Hombre y Novelera,

I saw Will Ferrel with Genesis Rodriguez and Gael Bernal Garcia doing an interview with Charlie Rose, talking about the movie. Really enjoyed the interview. I didn't know Genesis had such great English, really impressive.

I'm looking forward to seeing the movie too. Will said they only had 5 million for the budget and filmed the whole thing in 23 days!

GENERAL

Thanks, Rand, for the info about the Charlie Rose show. I set my DVR to record a couple of them, hoping to get that interview. The DVR menu doesn't say who is going to be on the show.

I knew Gael García Bernal spoke good English. I saw him in a fairly awful movie, called The King, in which he played an American soldier and I couldn't believe how good his English was, practically without any accent at all.

I went to "Casa de Mi Padre" on Saturday. Very funny. Think old Mexican westerns, El Capo, Dona Barbara, any telenovela that incorporates the "star singer" into the story, maize, queso y camp: it is all in there. Once you see it you'll understand why it was completed in 23 days and with a small budget. Particularly moving was toward the end of the credits, the movie was dedicated to Pedro Armendaeiz, Jr. Bless his soul. Genesis Rodriguez moved to Miami for part of her childhood, so I am not surprised at her English. There is another surprise cameo, but I won't give it away. Once more of the Caray group sees the film, you can comment on who it might be.
The theater where I viewed it (3pm Sat) was about half full. A very mixed audience and they laughed a lot. Some of the critics just didn't "get" the subtle inferences. Their loss. I thought it was "muy, muy bien"
sf chica bonita

one other thing..............you have to watch all the credits...to the very end....
sf chica bonita

Correct spelling: Armendariz, Jr. darn keyboard.
sf chica bonita

LA CASA DE MI PADRE

My Spanish telenovela buddy and I went to see this this afternoon.

Thanks, sfchica bonita, for your advice to stay all the way through the credits. I'm not sure who you meant about the other surprise cameo. I recognized some of the faces of the less than central characters, but doubt I could name them.

Will Farrell was very funny. Of course Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal were magnificent. Diego was especially great as Farrell's brother. There was running gag about his constant smoking.

I don't want to say too much, so as to spoil the slapstick funniness for some of you who may want to see it.

And, Rand, I found the Charlie Rose interview on the web. It was fun also. I also noticed Génesis' excellent English. Another thing I noticed in the interview is that she is now being called "Jen-uh-sis". Even Gael pronounced her name that way. I think she's using that pronunciation in order to break into English speaking roles. Someone unfamiliar with Spanish would never get her name right.

Novelera,

I noticed that too, the way they pronounced her name. I still remember the first time I saw her, it was in Dame Chocolate. Something really weird about that one that just sucked me in :)

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 1

Isabel comes shrieking into the kitchen and goes after Ángela in front of Violeta, Nelly, Pedro and Renzo. She shouts that Angie confessed to being in love with Juan Marcos.

JM gives Renzo a major reaming. He tells him that he’s a coward, receiving money for sex. Renzo mumbles that it seems as if JM cares more about Ángela than he does about his wife. This earns him a punch in the jaw. JM is furious; no more Mr. Nice Guy!!

Fernanda tells Luis and Vicente that she doesn’t want JM to be divorced; she wants him to be a widower. She isn’t much of a criminal mastermind; she blabs her plans to anyone who will listen, setting herself up for possible blackmail. Our boy Luis wouldn’t hesitate to do so.

Juan Marcos tells Génesis that he and her mother are separating. The poor little kid is heartbroken.

When Willy and Fernanda are asking about Bernie’s condition, the doctor spills the beans that, while he had a treatable heart problem, he doesn’t have a terminal illness.

Issie gets on top of some building at Casa del Castillo and threatens to jump. Ángela tries to get her to think how this will hurt her child. JM shows up and says he’s sure she won’t do it. She’s too egotistical to care about anyone else more than herself. She’s bad and cruel, and she uses her child as a weapon. This trick isn’t going to work because living with her would be hell, and he doesn’t intend to endure it. He doesn’t pity her. If she wants to jump, go ahead and do it. As a parting shot, he asks her if she has packed her bags. Of course she doesn’t jump.

Bernie wakes up in the hospital dreaming first of Isabel and then of Samantha. But he’s confronted with Ofelia, whom he calls a nightmare. He tells her she owes him plenty. Some future mystery to be uncovered.

Willy tells Sam he doesn’t like lies. His father lied to him, and he’s leaving Los Angeles.

Fernanda offers to go up and talk to Isabel. Uh oh. She offers her an apartment she rented but isn’t living in, but she can’t tell JM about it.

Luis shows up to grill Ángela about JM. She tells him there’s nothing going on between them. He admits that she’s too good to have an affair and harm Violeta. This constant delusion of ex-husbands, ex-novios, whatever, in telenovelas that they have a right to limit their former partner’s activities drives me INSANE. Of course the protagonists let them get away with it. Instead of screaming “None of your business!!! Butt out of my life!!!” like I want them to, these women always assure said bozo that there’s nothing going on.

Nelly continues to try to BS Emma into believing that she and Pedro are an item. Pedro’s mother shows up to see him, and he gives her an envelope with some money. She says his father just sits at home waiting for a call from Pedro’s brother that never comes. When Emma and his mother are alone, Emma tells his mother she thinks he’s gay!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 2

Isabel tells Ángela that, if Génesis suffers, it’s Angie’s fault. When Angie tells her she should realize how precious a daughter is, Isabel tells her she better watch Violeta, because she’s capable of anything to get JM back.

Bernie whines to a furious Willy that he lied to him to get him back in the country and to be responsible. Willy just tells him he’s going back to London. Bernie yells after him that he’ll disinherit him if he leaves.

Poor little Génesis runs after her mother. At least Isabel does a good job with her in this scene. She again tells her she’s sorry she wasn’t a better mother, but she can’t give what she wasn’t given.

Isabel comes to see Bernie. She asks him not to die on her because then she’d have to whine all by herself. Bernie tells her she’s out of danger because she left JM. Issie: “Huh?” He has to cover up for the fact that he was thinking out loud about his charming daughter. He says he wants to be far, far away with her on a beach.

Ángela and Violeta organize some dancing to cheer up Génesis. It works quite well.

Isabel calls Renzo and tells him she’s ready for revenge. He tells her he doesn’t think Ángela and JM are lovers. They aren’t like that. Isabel tells him she wants him to be her lover; he says: “Call me anytime, chica”.

Isabel has fallen nicely into Fernanda’s trap. Luis looks on impassively as Fer holds a gun on a bound and gagged Issie. In classic villain style, she tells her intended next victim about the others she killed: Gonzalo (falsely accused of pushing her down the stairs), the in-laws, Isabel’s baby, and now she will be #5. When Issie says she must be making a bad joke, Fer tells her that what she wants is to end up with her husband.

Perla goes to see Bernie and tells him she’s planning to leave her husband for him. He just laughs and tells her he doesn’t love her. Then he and Vicente have a heart to heart. V tells him the only way to get nutty Fernanda off her obsession with JM is to kill JM. Of course, this suits V down to the ground because he’s very jealous of the man Fer loves.

Willy tells Sam he can’t leave LA without getting rid of the guilt he feels for turning her into a lesbian (!). When he starts kissing her, she responds and I mean a lot! Unfortunately, Ofelia shows up being grouchy and warning them that Darío is approaching.

Ángela and JM finally talk. She tells him that she’s in love with him.

CORAZON VALIENTE
Thanks, Novlera!! Great recap.

So Bernie really did have a heart attack and the little peek he gave when Perla wasn't looking must have been a production error that they just kept on filming through.

If Fernanda has just told Isabel all about her crimes, then Isabel must be a goner, but it seems kind of soon to kill off such a major character. Maybe they will do something else.

It was really obvious that the actress playing Isabel was not standing on the roof of the house.

I agree with you about the right that ex's exert on their former partners. Probably, Vincente thinks that he has some right to interfere based on being Violeta's father but it's not like getting involved with JM would be bad for Violeta.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks so much Novelera. So, Angela did admit her feelings to JM? My recording cut off before that scene. Wonder how he'll respond? I love how he responded to Isabel's threat to jump off the roof. I like that although he's a good/sweet guy, JM doesn't take any crap from people. Or maybe we are just seeing him at the very end of his nice guy rope, after YEARS of crap from Issy.

I was happy to see Sam finally respond to Willy, but hated the interruption. I wonder if Sam will go back to being cold after that brief moment of weakness.

Bernie's little plan backfired. Now he will have to find another way to keep Willy in L.A. It's kind of creepy that he was dreaming about Sam (Issy we already knew about). Does he have a thing for young, blonde women?

The child actress who plays Genesis had a rough night last night in both her 9pm tns. She lost her mother to a car crash in Abismo de Pasion last night. It was heart breaking and the little actress did very well.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks, Novelera, for a terrific recap. Somehow I fell asleep and missed most of the show, but you brought it all to life. Isabel keeps saying she can't give Genesis love because SHE wasn't loved. But someone should tell her it doesn't have to be that way. Lots of people who had cruel or distant parents go out of their way to be good parents themselves.

I don't know if Isabel will survive Fernanda, but there are several possible ways she could. Fernanda could let her live if she agreed to help JM turn to Fernanda. Or Fernanda could let her live by promising to kill Angela. Or maybe the two could be partners, just killing everyone. We'll see.

GENERAL - Casa de Mi Padre

SF Chica Bonita, I'm guessing the surprise cameo was that the wedding singer was El Puma, who is the real life father of Genesis Rodriguez.

If the movie is sort of based on 1970's mexican low budget movies, I wonder if any real ones are out there I could rent or buy. Anyone know of any? I'm not sure they'd be as R-Rated as this one, which did have pretty extreme violence (almost like a Tarantino movie).

I also liked the fact that the bad guys were always drinking whiskey, which we still see in most modern telenovelas. Good guys drink tequila, of course.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 1

Sure enough, Joaco gets the cafeteria job, as Teresa's last action before leaving as principal. I guess Patty never said anything.

JP confronts Miranda about a romance with Mau. She totally denies it, and wonders how he gets all this info. He backs down, tells her his real name is Daniel, tries to win her confidence. We also see him hide millions of dollars in cash behind the wall of his apartment. This was the insurance money from his ex-wife which I think he split with the ex-wife's sister (whom he's having sex with these days).

Santiago is going to take care of his father Armando in Armando's last few months. Santi's daughter comes to visit. Ana throws out Gilberto, they're separating. So Gil goes to Santi's but there's no room with Armando and the little girl there, so Gil leaves.

Since Santiago has resigned from the school, they need a new teacher. It turns out to be Julia, Santiago's ex! She's a drama teacher or something. Okaaaay.

Liz acts all nice to Teresa in Ricardo's presence. Ricardo smells a rat, and sure enough, Teresa later tells him she caught Liz and Gonzalo banging in the closet, but didn't expel them. The two come to dinner, Gonzo borrowing a suit from Leo and doing his best Eddie Haskell. While still at Leo's, Nena quizzes Gonzo about his "poor cousins' house", knowing he's lying, and he continues the lie.

At Ricardo's house, they have an elegant meal, which is impossible for Gonzo. He first is totally nervous, later, drugs it up in the bathroom and embarrases himself more.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS Part 2

Ana gloats over her new power as principal. She still hasn't picked a vice principal yet, I don't think.

Patty asks Miranda how is she going to bear 10 more months of not giving into Mau, since Miranda has admitted that she totally loves Mau, he's the man of her life. Miranda is going to try to control herself, though.

Mau is told that he can't communicate with anyone. He's back home, that's the "last place the bad guys would look". The other family members are told the same thing. But Mau write a love letter to Miranda, addressing it to Isolde (that'll fool the cops) and asks Sofia to deliver it. Olivia searches Sofi's knapsack and finds nothing, I guess Sofi had it stashed elsewhere. She still hasn't given it to Miranda.

I think Leo told his Mom he likes Liz, but can't do anything since she's his Gonzo's novia.

Oh, and maybe ANDRES is the big drug lord! This was revealed when we saw one of Andres' flunkies sleeping with Gia, the stem cell lady. She's worried about jail, and they were talking, and I'm pretty sure Andres' name came up. We'll see.

Hombre:
Si es verdad. The wedding scene reminded me of the massacre scene in "Guadalupe" with Eduardo Yanez and Adela Noriega (1986)although this scene was tongue in cheek.
As to the Mexican westerns, I have found them on TV Azteca, sometimes on Telefutura and Telemundo and we have a couple of additional over-the-air channels in the SF-Bay area that are spanish stations. Alberto Estrella did a lot of the violent video movies (late 90's and early 2000's) which are comparable. He is great at playing crazy. Vicente Fernandez did some Mexican westerns in the 70's. There are other elder statesmen Mexican actors who made movies durning that time. You can see what he did on IMDB. Those movies are similar to the "spaghetti westerns". The channel that has Hector Suarez comedy shows and Paty Manterola's talk show also shows those old movies. A change from old "Cantanflas" movies. That is a good place to start.
Unfortunately the tv guides don't always publish the names, just "pelicula" which isn't much to go on.
When I go to Mexico in April, I'll try to get movie titles, since I love watching all the different channels.

CORAZON VALIENTE

I hated to love Aylín Mújica in Aurora. I think she was at her best in that.

ah yes - love Resendez in this tn. but I'm one of the few who enjoyed him and Rios in Herederos.

Novelera: "And I was thrilled they didn't waste tons of time until JM found out. On a Univisión novela, that would have taken MONTHS to come out."

... and this is one of the reasons I prefer Telemundo tns over Uni's.

LA CASA DE MI PADRE

What the movie reminded me of was American Westerns that featured Roy Rogers or Gene Autry, specifically the scene of Armando (Will Ferrell) and the other ranch hands singing around a campfire.

And, yes, chica bonita, I have seen bits and pieces of Vicente Fernandez singing in parts of a Mexican "Western".

Of course the violence was not in any Roy Rogers movie I ever saw. If they ever shot anyone at all, the person fell off a cliff with no sign of any blood at all!

CORAZON VALIENTE:

They really did kill Isabel!! Fernanda and Luis are beyond redemption.

CORAZON VALIENTE - martes
Not a recap - I'm doing this from memory. Lots of Angela/JM togetherness. Angela admits that she is crazy in love with JM but won't let him kiss her.
JM makes it clear that Violeta can spend all the time she wants with Genesis and all four of them end up watching a video. After the kids fall asleep, JM and Angela are just getting something on when the phone rings and a voice asks if JM wants to know who killed his parents. If so, he should come at midnight alone to a dark, scary place - the usual.

Angela refuses to let JM go alone and tells him it's a trap but when he insists on going, she gives him a crash course in self defense that is cute and give them more opportunities to be in physical contact with one another.

Meanwhile, Fernanda and Luis' plan is to make it appear that Isabel committed suicide. They have to give up their first idea to throw her off the balcony of the apartment - too many people around. Plan B is to make it look like she took sleeping pills and slit her wrists.

The preparation for this involved Luis getting Isabel drunk and while Luis is out of the room getting more booze or something, Isabel manages to call JM. But does she tell him that Fernanda and Luis are holding her prisoner at x address? Of course not.

Apparently, Bernardo does have the hots for Sam. Sam admits to Willy that she has never been with a woman but comes up with another reason why they can't be together - I forget what.

Emma gets Nelly to believe that Pablo is gay. Later Pablo starts kissing Emma. The professionalism of the bodyguards is going to hell in a handbasket.

Vincente, who has set up the hit on JM, has second thoughts but the guys he employed refuse to call it off. The bad guys start shooting at JM and both he and Angela return fire. They even kiss during the action - talk about a dangerous distraction!

And finally, poor Isabel is drugged and in a bathtub that appears to be in the middle of a large room. Before she passes out, she tells Fernanda that JM will never love her and that dying is a release for her.

I think that was about it.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS Part 1

That Olivia is really getting on my nerves. Does she even CARE about the drug ring? Presumably not, as she's scouring all the evidence to prove Mau and Miranda are romantically involved. That seems to be her main goal. She receives an anonymous text (from JP, another piece of *) saying call Oliver. Of course! Even though Oliver has life imprisonment for drugs, attempted murder for hire on Miranda, stomping Joaco, and various other things I forgot, Olivia visits him. It looks as if she'll try to persuade Orlando to release?? Oliver if he talks, which to her, is talking about Miss Miranda.

Miranda's latest class reading is La Celestina, a classic Spanish book, written in 1499. It tells of a "cupid", who secretly carries letters from one prohibited lover to the other. Conveniently, Sofia is doing just that. Miranda has received Mau's Isolde letter, and writes on back. Sofi tells her it'll take time, since Mau is "far away" (he's actually HOME!). Olivia almost catches her again, but ends up with just a flyer for tonight's Halloween party. Mau is warned not to go.

Ana can't have Santi as VP, since he quit. She's not having that pig Gilberto. And Armando's out, since Santi tells her he's sick, but can't go into details. So Ana asks TERESA to be the VP. Sure, I said horrible things about you to get the Principal job, but that was just politics, right? Let's be amigas! Terry isn't so sure.

Julia, Santi's ex (they're not actually divorced yet, though) is a Hollywood actress. But due to the "crisis", she's out of work, so wants a teacher job at Cervantes, and looks as if she's got it. Ana wants JP to work with Julia on a school play. Uh oh.

Armando hopes Julia, Santi and the little girl will get back together before he dies. Uh oh again.

Leo, trying to mend his ways, gives Sofia a new phone. She can't return it, because he got the back engraved with a silver heart and both of their names. As she takes it, Cassius glowers.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS Part 2

Time for the Halloween party. Patty is dressed as Little Red Riding Hood. Gonzalo, dressed as a skeleton, puts drugs in the drinks again!!! Javier gave him the stuff (drops in bottles). Did he say something about diuretics? Not sure.

Olivia found out about the party, and she's there in a very sexy costume. Sofia is there, and I'm sure Leo will cause trouble. Someone very ominous and big in a black outfit approaches Miranda, who is by herself outside. It looks as if he could attack her!

Meanwhile, Ana is getting ready, donning a skintight, head to toe leopard outfit, showing off her amazing curves. Gilberto, drunk again, shows up, and says you're not going to a party tonight, I'm going to assert my matrimonial rights, right now! They struggle, he SLAMS her head down onto the table, and she's unconscious!! I really hope Gilberto goes to jail for this, but in this show, almost everyone gets away with everything. If he does go to jail, he'll get out eventually, and want REVENGE!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – MARTES

Thanks, Jean, your memory is good! And, Hombre, you’re so right. Luis and Fernanda are beyond redemption for sure. Fernanda is a sociopathic sadist. She’s said before how much she likes killing people, and she loved slitting Isabel’s wrists. That was hard to watch.

Willy overheard Bernardo and Sam talking, I think, about her mother and Bernie being amantes. Something about when he started listening gave him the impression that SAM and Bernie were lovers. When he asked her about it later, she said they were. I’m getting impatient with Sam doing everything under the sun to scare off Willy, especially since Fabián Ríos has managed to wipe Gaspar del Monte and Ángel Meléndez from my mind. He’s very sweet in this one, and I’m getting VERY irritated at Sam. She now knows he didn’t leave her in the lurch and tried to contact her many times after he returned to school.

Emma’s bratty behavior kind of backfires on her, but her apparent armor of privileged rich girl seems to protect her from any retribution. She tells Pedro’s mother he’s gay. And, like any mother would do, she tells her husband. So they both show up to talk to their son about this. It doesn’t sound like they were that homophobic, but definitely worried. I guess she achieved her goal of scaring off Nelly, if that was it. I guess he kissed her as a demonstration of how very not gay he is, but she didn’t deserve a hunk like that kissing her at all!

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Novelera, while Willy was outside the door, Bernardo said to Sam "Somos amantes." This means "we are lovers". He meant Perla and himself. But Willy thought he meant Sam and himself, and he left before hearing another word. Typical telenovela character!

Corazon Valiente

...and didn't Sam then talk to Willy about sleeping with the father and then with the son.

interesting, that for any Aurora watchers, (by the same writer), Aurora actually did sleep with the father and son, a controversial story line that could not be revoked, and was later resolved by Aurora dying and the story moving on to other things.

I'm waiting to see how this one plays out, Bernardo does have Sam in his sights, the mother and then the daughter, and didn't Sam's father notice as well?

aside from her secret, isn't Sam also being cautious because Willy is a more than a one women kind of guy? I'm really loving this whole story, how Sam is so distancing herself from him while physically she couldn't get any closer. They are like magnets.

it's also interesting how Willy is kind of in a neutral zone between all of the good and bad guys (except for the mafia thingy of course)

CORAZON VALIENTE-

Thanks for the fill ins, Novelera and Hombre. I am totally with you, Novelera, about being fed up with Sam trying one excuse after another to fend Willy off. By this time, he should disbelieve anything she says! Why aren't they finding out which of their parents deep sixed their 15-year old romance?

I forgot to mention the part of the episode where Sam looks at a picture of Angela's father and wishes that he were her father. Is it possible that Diego (I think that was his name) really was Sam's father? We know that he and Perla were involved. I'm not sure if it was made clear if that was after the children or not.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - MARTES

Deb! So glad you posted a comment. I thought we lost you after Flor Salvaje ended!

Yes, Sam did tell Willy she had slept with both the father and son. She's just being so ridiculous right now, I could kick her in the rear end.

I think Ximena Duque and Fabián Ríos seem so perfect together in this novela that I'm frustrated at Sam's behavior. (That's not meant to say that they are that way in real life, just that they are good actors).

And thanks for the reminder that part of Sam's problem is Willy's womanizer reputation. She can't let herself risk falling for him.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - MARTES

Thanks for reminding me, Jean, of Sam's flashback to Miguel telling her how much he loved her, like his own daughter. They sure are giving us lots of hints that he might have been her bio dad.

CORAZON VALIENETE:

Thanks everyone for all the pieces of the recap. It's pretty complete now. Bernie actually said to Sam, about her mother, "No one can know that we're lovers!" That was when Willy walked away and didn't hear that the "we" Bernie was talking about did not involve Sam.

I am also miffed at Sam for continuing to come up with ways to get rid of Willy. She now knows that the reason Willy became a womanizer is because SHE broke his heart. Now they both know they were both duped by their parents. Oh well!

Count me in as surprised that they killed off Isabel. Boy, will JM feel guilty when the truth comes out and he realizes that he disregarded Isabel's last plea for help. On the plus side, this opens up the raod for him and Angela even more. I thought it a bit weird that they chose the middle of a gunfight to have their first kiss. :)

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - MARTES

Vivi, you're right that Isabel's death leaves a clear path for Juan Marcos and Ángela. But we'll probably be treated to lots of psycho Fernanda's attempts to get rid of her. Fortunately, our protagonist is not helpless in the least. And Fer's accomplice, Luis, would be reluctant to kill the mother of his child (I think).

CORAZON VALIENTE

Jean - LOL on 'bathtub that appears to be in the middle of a large room.'
I swear, most times I just take in whatever these tns dish out, without noticing certain things like this.

I had a feeling Sonya Smith, like JL Pila, was not gonna last til the end.

I'm totally enjoying Peralta/Emma.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 1

Some corrections: That wasn't Olivia at the party in the sexy outfit, it was Liz. But Olivia does show up later, not disguised, looking for Mau. When Sofia sees her, she first texts Mau to look out, then kisses Leo to avoid having to talk to Olivia. Of course, Cassius happened to show up just then and see the fake kiss!

The other thing I had wrong was that the drug Gonzo used was ipecac, which makes you throw up. He put this in the salsa, not in the drinks. Result? Everyone is feeling sick, and Joaco, who provided the food, will get blamed. This is Gonzo's way of getting back at Joaco. Patty, the chemist, identifies the substance, but we're not sure how Joaco will get out of this.

Ana has regained consciousness from Gilberto's slam down, and she won't press charges (the scandal could cost her the Principal job), but she wants Gilberto to move his stuff out NOW. She goes to the party, Santiago is sympathetic, but Gilberto goes, too, and he and Santi start slugging it out. JP breaks them up, and tells Gilberto he'll end up in jail if he doesn't watch out.

Mau fools his parents by the old blankets over pillows trick. Manuel sneaks into the room, sees the piled up covers, remembers telenovela 101, and rips the covers off! But Mau is right there, screaming what's goin on, Dad? So after Manuel apologizes and leaves, Mau really DOES leave. Hah!

Diego is dressed as a cowboy, and Alejo a very gay indian. They go to a private room, share Diego's booze, and actually kiss, but Diego was sort of passing out at the time, and won't remember it.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 2

Nora's parents answer our question as to their fears. All 3 are undocumented, but Nora doesn't know. They discuss what would happen if the Dad were deported.

Alejandro's Dad accidentally sees the video on his computer, which starts out "I'm not going to kill myself". He hasn't yet gotten to the part where Alejo says "I'm gay", but it's coming up soon!

Olivia wants Oliver to talk, and doesn't want to promise him much, maybe just a mild reduction of his sentence, but Oliver wants to be free, or at least out of this maximum security prison. Orlando tells Olivia no way, but Olivia is going to keep pressing, since Oliver isn't talking (not only does he know about Mau and Mir, but also about Gia).

Last time, some guy in a dark costume was scaring Miranda. It turned out to be JP. Mau puts on a similar costume and sneaks into the school. He sees Sofi, who helps him out. He later finds Miranda, and they go into a classroom, hug, and exchange notes. He tells her he's really here home in Miami, and they can give each other notes, signing Tristan and Isolde to fool people (right). Miranda feels very safe in his arms, but can't kiss him on school grounds, that would be too weird. They hear a commotion, which is Santi and Gilberto fighting in the next room.

They breathlessly part. JP had been following Miranda, but he felt sick from the salsa, and after the bathroom, he broke up Gilberto and Santi. Yesi feels sick, too. After she throws up, she comes out to see a guy in a dark costume kiss Miss Miranda, who then leaves. Yesi: "Hi, Mr. JP. Wait, Mau, what are you DOING here? Are you having a romance with Miss Miranda!!? Mau claps his hand over her mouth, and hustles her into a room, just as Olivia is coming around the corner!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

It was interesting that nearly the whole episode was filmed in a heavy rainstorm. You could hear the downpour and see lightning flashes through the window.

Willy and Sam have a bitter conversation about her supposed relationship with Bernie. Speaking about being promiscuous, he tells her he never thought he’d see himself reflected in “his Sammy".

Vicente is staggering and drunk, guilt ridden over his supposed killed of Juan Marcos. He tells Bernie he did it because he’s mad with jealousy about Fernanda.

The cops finally come to the scene of the balacera in the streets. I’m glad I don’t live in Telenovela LA where you hear a half hour’s worth of gunfire and no cops appear.

It turns out Peralta’s dad is pretty homophobic after all. He almost has a heart attack over his supposedly gay son. Emma is somewhat remorseful, but tells him she did it to pay him back for telling Nelly about her bi-polar condition. He tells her Nelly overheard him talking with her doctor.

I’m impressed with the little girl playing Génesis. She’s good in every scene. Her father, with Angie nearby, tells her that her mother is now in Heaven. She turns on her father, telling him it’s his fault Isabel died because he abandoned her. JM was already riddled with guilt over Isabel’s death, so he’s now very, very sad. At the funeral he tells Ángela that the cops suspect them of killing Isabel. They showed some guys examining the corpse, so maybe there’s some sign she didn’t slit her own wrists.

Luis tells Fernanda about the text from Renzo. She’s ready to kill Issie all over again for being unfaithful to JM! But Renzo knows that Fer arranged for her to stay in that apartment. [This doesn’t make sense. Surely the cops would find out anyway who owned the apartment with the bathtub in the middle of a huge room. They couldn’t exactly move her from the bathtub. People dead from suicide don’t usually walk to a nearby alley.] Oh well, telenovelogica. She shows up at Renzo’s, telling him Issie is dead, but before she went she told him how good he was in bed. Of course no man in a TN can resist a woman who throws herself at him. While he’s all over her on the sofa, she pulls a knife and stabs him repeatedly, getting very little blood all over herself!

Bernie lays in on a bit too heavily about his “relationship” with Sam and even plants a kiss on her in front of Willy.

I suppose they’re setting up some of Fer’s “issues” because she comes to whine to her father about loving Isabel (something Issie herself said just before she died) more than he loves her. He admits it and then she tells him Issie is dead in the cruelest manner possible Bernie broods over Issie’s photograph.

Willy leaves for the airport. Bernie tells him he never wants to see him again.

CORAZON VALIENTE- Thanks, Novelera. I was just going to post something myself. Did you notice that the cop was the guy who played Osvaldo, Dora's boyfriend in El Clon?

JM and Angela seem to get off easy by the police for killing at least one guy. Just because they are the ones who called the police and he is an Arroyo shouldn't necessarily make it clear that they were the victims.

Surely the fact that Renzo knew it was Fer who lent the apartment to Isabel doesn't merit killing him. It was a perfectly normal thing to do unless you know that Fernanda is a homicidal maniac. Shouldn't JM be asking where Isabel died and how she got there instead of beating himself up with guilt?

Bernardo did take Isabel's death very hard. He isn't a dummy. I hope he starts asking himself questions about whether his homicidal daughter might have been involved.

Did you catch when someone, was it Fernanda? said at the funeral that it was strange that Isabel's mother and brother didn't come to the funeral. I wonder if they are going to turn up in town.

The child who plays Genesis is very good in addition to being incredibly cute.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Jean, I also noticed what Fer said about Issie's family not showing. It was, of course, said in a mean-spirited way as a put down to Isabel.

I'm looking forward to their introducing Isabel's ghastly mother. For some reason, until Fernanda said that, I thought she was dead.

I thought I recognized one of those cops, but couldn't remember where I'd seen him. Thanks!

Corazon Valiente
I noticed too that Fernanda mentioned Isabels' mother and brother couldn't even be bothered to come to the funeral, like normal family would. All the flashback references to Isabel's mother have been rather confusing to me: did she beat her? What was that about scars and Isabel was so ugly before? And mental/emotional abuse? Did Bernardo rescue her from all that, or did he meet her afterwards?
J in Oregon

CORAZON VALIENTE-
Hi J in Oregon. All I think we really know is that Isabel's mother did a job on her self esteem. We have had flashbacks of the mother telling Isabel that she is ugly and can't give or receive love.
We don't know how and when Bernardo and Isabel met and how he helped her.
That was why I thought it was weird that they killed Isabel off without getting into all that.

CORAZON VALIENTE- jueves

[The promos for Friday's Una Maid said that it was airing at a special time, 9 pm, but the promos for CV didn't mention any change or that there wouldn't be a CV capitulo tonight so I'm not sure what is happening.]

This is from memory again so it might be disjointed and incomplete.

It was a dark and stormy night in LA. Willy's plane was delayed and he came home to find Sam in his room cuddled up with a pillow that has his scent. They engage in some boisterous sex. Then Sam swears to Willy that she never had any relations with his father. She also tells him that his father is having an affair with Perla. Willy is impactado at that news.

Meanwhile Bernardo and Perla are getting it on downstairs.

Fernanda is furious that Vincente tried to kill JM and she tells him that if does anything to JM, she will kill herself.

Angela tells JM that she can't work for him any longer. First, he tells her not to go and then he decides that anyone near him is in danger so she has to leave. He drives her home and rescues her when she is attacked by some bad guys. Were they sent by Fernanda or are they just some random bad guys in her bad neighborhood?

Creepy Fernanda makes nice with Genesis and actually sleeps in her bed. Yuck.

We have a weird flashback to JM crying hysterically over the body of Isabel and telling her that he just wanted to have a normal family with her.

Emma obviously is afraid to have sex or has some other problem with intimacy. She tries to make Peralta jealous by fooling around with Gabriel but when Gabriel wants to be more than friends, she makes him leave.

The police tell JM that they are investigating the shootout at the junkyard. They want to know why JM went there with Angela and not his own bodyguard. Then I think that the police say that they suspect Isabel's death wasn't a suicide. They say that Isabel rented the apartment over the internet. JM tells them that his wife was having an affair with Renzo. Then the police tell JM that Renzo has been found stabbed to death.

I'm sure there was more but this is what I can recall.

CORAZON VALIENTE:
Thanks for the recap Jean. The show was on when I got home, but I was busy doing other stuff, so didn't get a chance really pay attention. I was happy to see Sam and Willy have intimate time. There was a bathtub scene between the two towards the end. They are both trying to act like neither of them wants a serious relationship and that they will be friends with benefits. Willy seems more convinced they can do this than Sam does. Then Willy says that had they not been separated when they were 15, they would probably be married to each other with kids by now. A dark look crossed Sam's face when he said this, but he didn't notice.

LA CASA DE MI PADRE:
The reason I was home late was because I went to see La Casa de Mi Padre with another Caraymate, Anita (see my new pic), yesterday. We both laughed throughout and the movie went by quickly. It was nice to see familiar telenovela faces-- Pedro A. (que en paz descanse), Genesis R., and Sandra E. The DC audience was totally "in" on the joke, so we weren't the only ones giving hearty chuckles.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 1

Mauricio tells Yesenia she has to keep quiet about Miss Miranda. She says okay, but you have to tell me the whole truth. He proceeds to tell her about 1/3 of the truth, saying he never had sex with Miss M, and that Yesi is the only one who knows. Yesi loves Mau, now hates Miranda, but Mau says if you report us, and she goes to jail, I'll be the most unhappy person in the world. I think Yesi will keep quiet for now.

Gilberto has no place to sleep, having been kicked out of Ana's. JP first says no, but when Olivia interrupts them, and is shocked that JP is a teacher there (he said he just volunteered with poor kids), he quickly offers to drive drunk Gil to his house. Once there, Alicia (I think that's the sister in law's name) comes out in her robe, and JP says she's his cousin. They're both worried about the money that JP just hide in the wall, but Gil doesn't snoop.

Santiago takes a shaken Ann home. He tells her that since his Dad is now staying with him, and his ex Julia is there, could Ana please hire Julia? Ana says could you be getting back together with her? In answer, Santi kisses Ana, and of course, little Vivi, dressed in her pirate gal costume, sees them and freaks out a bit. She calms down when Ana says she and Gil are separated, and although Ana has been mean to Vivi, and isn't her real aunt, she'd like to be her friend now, and Vivi can live here. Vivi is okay with this.

Joaco has to show that the syrup of ipecac was not his fault on the salsa, and Patty is coming to the office to explain.

Alejandro's parents see the tape where he says he's gay, and aren't mad, just are worried he'll get beaten up by the mean kids. In class the next day, in the bathroom, Alejo tries to kiss Diego, who is repulsed. It seems he's only attracted to Alejo when he's drunk! Also in the bathroom, Javier sells more drugs to Gonzalo.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 2

Bob tells Gonzalo he found the top of the vodka bottle, and knows he stole the booze and the car, and didn't he crash the car, too? The language barrier prevents these two from much understanding, but Bob says, I'm pretty strong, so don't screw with me! Gonzo doesn't understand this English, until Javier says screw is like the f-word, and Gonzo gulps.

BTW, Diego's Dad got to him when he was totally drunk, and made him give a urine sample. This time there won't be drugs, but there'll be lots of alcohol!

Mau gets home just in time to be scolded by Sofi. He had told Miranda to be ready 11:00 the next day at the secret entrance (her window). So she doesn't go to school, lying to Patty that she has to meet with Orlando in O's office. Patty gets to school, and Orlando is there, and not talking about some meeting. Whoops. Patty nervously tries to cover Miranda's absence.

In the meantime, Olivia looks at the picture she somehow has of Mau jumping out of Miranda's window, and figures out where it is. She goes there, arriving just after Mau arrives. She cracks a window from the outside, and starts recording with her cellphone. (Is this legal?) Mau and Mir say a few things, not too incriminatory. Olivia starts to sneak inside.

Mau tells Miranda it's just too dangerous for them to be this close, he can't control himself, so he has to leave, and request a real transfer to New York. So this is goodbye. He gives her 11 love letters, 1 for each of the 11 months, he'll be away. And they start to undress, preparing to make love for the last time in 11 months. But Olivia has snuck into the house, and is getting closer!!!!!!

CORAZON VALIENTE:

I liked when Emma kissed Gabriel with Pablo in the background, Gabriel said "How come you just kissed me to make your bodyguard jealous?" This guy has definitely been watching telenovelas.

Also, when Bernardo says to Perla, so what if I dig Samantha? I'm a free man, and I already told you I don't love you. Perla replies, well, I've got enough love for both of us, and they do the deed.

I think the thugs who tried to attack Angela were neighborhood guys. They called her by name.

If you rent an apartment over the internet, that should be able to be traced.

The police investigator is (as usual) barking up the wrong tree, thinking JM and maybe Angela did it. JM is very insistent that he and Angela have no relationship, but a witness saw them kissing after the shootout. But the motive business is very weak, since Isabel already left. The quick way for the investigator to solve the crime would be to go to Wikipedia and see that JM and Angela are protagonists, and Fernanda is a villain :)

CORAZON VALIENTE-

Ah, the bathtub scene. All I could think about was how uncomfortable it must have been for the actors to be with another person semi naked in a tub of probably tepid at best water for who knows how long while the scene was being shot.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – JUEVES

Thanks so much for the recap, Jean.

I remember, sort of, Isabel’s back story. In one of the times she came to Bernie for comfort, they talked about his getting her into a clinic. Everyone thought she was in Europe. Isabel also said that she couldn’t understand why her mother had gone for her face when she was obsessed with her looks. The word disfigured was used. I guess I drew the conclusion that the mother is crazier than a bedbug and slashed her daughter’s face or something. Apparently Bernie got plastic surgery for her and gave her emotional support. It was also said that they had been lovers before she married Juan Marcos. I don’t know if they were lovers before the mother attacked her or if it was a by-product of his helping her.

Also, regarding Isabel’s back story, it was said by someone that JM married her because she was pregnant. JM may be a nice guy, but birth control isn’t in his vocabulary. He also apparently got Fernanda pregnant when he was carrying out his bet with the guys to date the “ugly duckling”.

They also revealed last night what we suspected: Vicente pushed Isabel down the stairs at Fernanda’s request.

I thought the sequence was odd also about JM crying over Issie’s body. They already showed him looking at her face in the morgue as if for the first time. But apparently he also was on the scene at the apartment.

I also wondered who the thugs were who attacked Ángela. It might have been the same guys who tried to rob her bakery. She and Sam make short work of them, but I don’t remember if they got arrested or just ran off. They did call her by name. Who knows?

I’m definitely enjoying Sam and Willy as a couple. Also I like that they tease each other. Of course JM and Angie haven’t progressed to having sex, but they are so serious all the time, mooning at each other. Sam and Willy are just fun to watch.

Estela, Ángela’s mother is a bitter, unhappy woman. That was pretty nasty of her to tell her daughter that JM threw her out because he isn’t even interested in her as a lover. Telenovelas are full of mothers who blindly adore their sons and undermine their daughters by telling them not to go for guys above their station.

The police inspector, I’m pretty sure, said Isabel was definitely murdered, and Fernanda came into the room very, very shocked at hearing that. Looks like the criminal mastermind missed something.

CORAZON VALIENTE-
Thanks for the fill ins and clarifications, all. It still isn't clear to me whether CV will be on tonight. I rechecked the end of last night's Una Maid and it definitely said that it was going to be on at 9pm manana, i.e., today. My DVR thinks that CV is going to be on so who knows?

I had completely forgotten about the attempted robbery of the cake store.

Last night, I wondered if the hairdressers might have been on strike or something. Taking advantage of the world's longest thunderstorm, several of the women entered a scene with their hair all wet and hanging down as if they didn't have umbrellas or anything.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Assuming we have an episode of CV tonight, I'll do a recap. But it probably won't be up until the afternoon California time.

Does anyone know the name of the song that plays whenever Angela and Juan Marcos are together in Corazon Valiente. It goes somehting like this "pero yo te extrano cuando ....muero de amore cuando tu no esas aqui...."
Please.
