El Mundo de Telemundo - Discuss among yourselves: Week of March 26

!Bienvenida a la primavera! Although here in New Jersey it's been more like summer for the last few days. As this week ends, it appears that two of our protagonistos are "entre la vida y la muerte": Mau is hit by a car in Relaciónes Pelegrosas and Ángela is shot in Corazón Valiente. So over to you.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

Another correction: JP's sister in law's name is Marta. His father in law, Olivares, comes for a visit. Gilberto is there, and JP calls to tell him not to reveal Marta is there. JP arrives, Gil leaves, and while Marta hides, Oliveras questions whether JP killed Marta, too, since she's disappeared. Oliveras grabs a kitchen knife, and JP and he have a big staredown.

Back at Miranda's house, Mau and Mir are wearing birthday suits, ready to celebrate, when Olivia jiggles the locked door. Orlando happens to show up, too, which gives Mau time to leave through the window, unfortunately forgetting his wallet and jacket. Orlando questions Olivia, what are you doing here? You're going over the line. Olivia insists Mau and Mir are having an affair. Mir comes out, says she was dressing, and of course Mau isn't there. Orlando tells Olivia she shouldn't let jealousy get in the way of her professionalism. Olivia can't prove anything, but warns Miranda a few times.

Ana has security footage from the night of the party. It shows Gonzalo apparently heading for the kitchen. He probably added the stuff to the salsa. After Patty helps explain, Ana decides Joaco is innocent, and wants him to help her trap Gonzo in some plan.

The other thing on the monitor was Yesenia with some strange guy in black. The same guy was also talking to Miranda. It doesn't seem to be JP, who could it be?

Julia and JP were having a drama class where the kids paired off and told each other some truth. This is, of course, disastrous. Yesi tells Sofi she hates her for covering for Mau and Mir. Alejo tells Diego he knows Diego "likes" him, which causes a fist fight between the two, broken up by Gonzo, who actually gets a bloody nose from Alejo? But Alejo and Diego get suspended for 2 days.

Mau has to get home fast, to prove he wasn't with Miranda. He's running, and gets hit by a car, knocked unconscious, and goes to the hospital. He has no ID, just a pink letter from "Isolde", but pretty soon people recognize him. The first is a cop who is actually working with the druglords. He calls Andres' right hand man, who tells him to kill Mau. I'm not sure if Andres is the druglord himself, but his henchman sure is involved. The bad cop calls a killer in to finish off Mau.

When Miranda hears Mau is in critical condition, she decides the game is over, she'll go turn herself in and face the music!

Gracias, Hombre.

"Well, that figures..." moment #2: Gonzo nearly gets his nose broken, by Alejandro no less, and Alejandro gets suspended for it.

So now we've had two people (Patty and Orlando) suggest that Olivia has a jones for busting Miranda for her "supposed" affair because she's hot for Mauricio herself. Considering how Olivia reacted--and that Orlando made a point of mentioning her age--I'm not sure if the show's really skewing that way or if they're simply preparing to swerve off and reveal that Olivia has her own Deep Dark Secret that's made her so obsessive about the issue and forced to death-glare at everybody who talks to her. (The fact that she's actually right isn't as much of a mitigating circumstance as I would have thought.)

And as for the whole Andres' henchman/Pedro Garcia (the dirty cop) thing...does that kill the idea of JP turning out to be a drug lord? There can usually only be one major narco on a novela, though I suppose Andres could turn out to be clueless about his henchman's "other job" in order to clear JP for it...

CORAZÓN

This one will be late. I was just about to start typing when a friend called and wanted to have lunch.

CORAZON SALVAJE

No worries. We have all weekend ;-)

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - VIERNES – Part 1

After the police inspector makes his dramatic announcement about Isabel having been murdered, Fernanda bursts into the room. It drives me crazy the way she behaves as if she has every right to be in JM’s house! She anticipates the cop’s desire to speak with Juan Marcos alone and puts her cell phone on an end table to record what they say.

In a sad mood, Ángela tells Sam while they are at the firing range that JM accelerated her departure from her job with them. She doesn’t seem to understand as well as I do that he got her out of there because he feared for her life.

We meet a new member of the bodyguard company’s staff, Pamela, who is one nasty piece of work. She tells Ángela that she failed completely in her first assignment. She appears jealous that Angie got the plum assignment with the Arroyos that she thought should have been hers.

Aha! It is revealed why they suspect Isabel was murdered. Our two criminal masterminds had given her such a high dosage of sleeping pills that she would not have been able to slit her own wrists at the time she died. Also, she would have been unconscious at the very moment that Fernanda insisted on texting a goodbye to JM and Génesis. Another suspicious factor is that there were NO fingerprints anywhere in the apartment, not even Isabel’s, which indicated a post mortem wipe down of all surfaces.

The cop tells JM that he thinks Ángela’s not working at JM’s house any more is to divert suspicion. JM tells him either arrest him because he has enough evidence or go away. Fernanda again acts like she has a right to be in JM’s house. Hearing raised voices she runs into the room and puts a protective hand on his shoulder. Ack!

JM tells Génesis that her mother did not commit suicide, but was killed. This seems to work as she allows her father to hold her.

Ángela has a new assignment. She meets with a woman who says her stepdaughter is trying to kill her for the inheritance.

Luis tells Fer that some guys from the neighborhood told him a guy in a luxury car had dropped Angie off and that later protected her with a gun. Fer gets that far-away, crazy jealous look in her eyes.

Fernanda shows up at Ángela’s mother’s house asking her to be her bodyguard. Angie refuses, saying that Luis lives at her house and she doesn’t want the proximity.

It turns out that that seemingly nice guy, Gabriel, is a lazy fortune hunter. He confides to his older brother Vicente that he wants to marry Emma for her money.

Darío is talking with Bernardo about Samantha and Willy. He tells Bernie that Sam and Willy went as far as young people can go when they were 15. The implication is that Darío thinks knowing about his son and Sam would turn him away from pursuing her himself. As if. Later he tells Sam that he didn’t know about she and Willy before and really doesn’t care. He comes right out with it and asks her to be his lover.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – VIERNES – Part 2

As we might have expected, Pamela is the replacement for Ángela, and Génesis can’t stand her. The kid has good taste!

It is revealed that Renzo was burned up in a car subsequent to being stabbed by Fer. Luis tells her there won’t be any fingerprints left. After a shouting match and an exchange of slaps, Luis and Fernanda get busy in her bedroom. The door was left partially ajar and Willy (eeewww) peeks in to watch his sister and a man getting it on.

It turns out that the woman who hired Ángela is the really dangerous one. When Ángela arrives to work, after a tearful goodbye to Violeta, she is about to kill her stepdaughter after saying that her husband loved his daughter more than he loved her. Ángela moves in front of the stepdaughter, and the bruja shoots Angie in the chest! Angie manages to shoot the woman, saving the stepdaughter, before losing consciousness

Sam and Perla are having a drink together. Perla starts out questioning about a possible relationship between her daughter and Bernie. Sam lets her have it. The guy is always looking at her, saying things to her and, yes, he wants her in his bed! Sam asks her mother why she always has such terrible taste in men. Perla remembers Miguel trying to break off their relationship, but giving in to passion, and tells Sam her taste has not always been bad.

The police inspector calls Juan Marcos to tell him that Ángela has been shot.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE-

Thanks, Novelera, for the excellent recap.
I forgot to mention something that happened in the bathtub part of Thursday's episode. After Willy and Sam make love all night, he says that he wants propose something to her. They get distracted and Sam brings it up again when they are in the bath. Willy says that he wants Sam to be his friend, his special friend. Sam is not too happy with that. She says that friends fight and get jealous of one another. Willy replies that won't happen to them. He doesn't like commitment (compromisos). He asks if Sam accepts his offer of this "special friendship" but she doesn't reply.

So it seems like that this might be the latest problem between Sam and WIlly - that she wants a commitment from him and he doesn't want to.

I'm not sure that I think that the police could tell that Isabel was too drugged to cut her wrists. She could have cut her wrists any time between swallowing the pills and passing out and she didn't pass out immediately - she spoke to Fernanda. But whatever, at least they think that Isabel was murdered even if they think that JM might have been responsible.

Pamela reminds me of Q, the woman who advised Alton Brown about cookware on Good Eats.

Corazon Valiente
Novelera, Jean, thanks so much for the summary. I turned on Telemundo at 8:00 PM and there was a soccer game on so I didn't bother checking back at 9:00. Rats!!! Can't wait to see Angela's new employer--oops, guess she will be in jail for shooting Angela, right?
A sad, sad J in Oregon

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - VIERNES

J in Oregon, I have a feeling the shot Ángela delivered to the new employer may have killed her. They didn't definitely show it, though, so maybe she'll be in jail.

It was interesting the way they fooled Angie, as well as us, by making us think the stepdaughter was the evil one, when it was the older woman instead.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks for the recap, Novelera. I was a little surprised JM would be so open with Genesis about Isabel's being killed, since Genesis is so young, but I guess honesty is often best.

I thought it was hilarious when Fernanda and Luis slapped each other, and then made evil, slurpy, sweaty love. I've seen this before in telenovelas, and it always makes me laugh.

I thought Angela shot the woman in the hand, preventing further attack, but we may find out Monday (or maybe not, maybe we'll just key in on Angela in the hospital). Of course it's ironic that JM said he wanted Angela out of his house, because then she'd be out of danger!

I wonder who's in charge of the bodyguard agency. Renzo and Pamela don't seem to have been such good hires.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

One of the ironies about this show is that while lots of people say what Mau and Miranda are doing is ILLEGAL, and could end up with Miranda doing years in prison, almost no one says its BAD! Sofi is okay with it. Patty is okay with it, especially since Miranda really loves Mau. Even Mau's father Manuel doesn't seem to bothered by the morality of it, although, he, like everyone else is concerned with the possible legal consequences. And then they show us that it's legal in Georgia. It's almost as if they are saying the law is wrong, at least in cases where the "child" is a guy, and the two really love each other. I'm not sure they'd say the same thing if it were a 27 year old male teacher and a 17 year old girl.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS

Good point about how everything would be viewed if it were Mau who was the grown-up teacher and Miranda the 17-year old.

From pieces of the novela that I occasionally see the character that drives me crazy is Gonzalo. I want some heavy duty retribution for him, but it looks like they're going to wait until the very end to deliver it. Something about his hair and that constant sneer on his face makes me want to slap him!

RELACIONES
Hombre and novelera, I had the same thought about the underlying "approval" of the Mauricio/Miranda relationship. Even though I find myself rooting for them, that subtle message still kind of bothers me!

Ugh, Gonzalo. Gross. I've had moments of sympathy for him, but he's so ridiculously self-centered and conniving (moreso than the average teenager I think), I'm getting sick of him--the whole "poor me my mom abandoned me" thing is old, and the fact that he was willing to let his girlfriend and his mother take the fall for him on separate occasions, I'm so ready for his karma b*&$%-slap. So glad "salsa-gate" was discovered early on with minimal damage to Joaco's rep... go Patty!!

AnotherAmy

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks so much Novelera. Angela did indeed shoot the gun out of the crazy lady's hand, so she's not dead, just injured. I'm sure they won't kill off Angela either.

I was so glad Sam told her mom the truth about Bernie's intentions towards her.

I'm happy the cops are digging deeper into Isabel's death, but I wish they would think a little harder. If Isabel were the only member of JM's family to die or have an attempt on her life, then ok. But JM's parents were murdered, there was an attempt on his daughter's life (the sniper), and now his wife is dead. At the least, they should be thinking about the safety of JM's sister and daughter, and even him, since there's a pattern here.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

Not watching this one regularly any more, but I agree Hombre that the morality question about M&M seems to be soaked in hypocrisy. My real problem is with Miranda, the adult. She seems so weak willed to me. She should have more sense and self control. SHE'S not a hormonal teenager!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 1

Juan Marcos shows up at the hospital where they’ve brought Ángela, beside himself. Diego reminds him that the life of a bodyguard is a risky one. The doctor says she was shot in the abdomen, damaging her liver and colon. [Sorry, writers. I never get excited when one of the protagonists is at death’s door. They ALWAYS pull through.]

Ángela dreams of a wedding with JM while on the operating table. I’ve HAD surgery and anesthesia is not like sleep; you don’t dream.

Peralta has come to his parents’ house to get Emma. She appears really fond of his mother. Again, the black sheep brother is mentioned. I’m sure we’ll see this guy sometime.

The rotten Pamela almost threatens Génesis, trying to get her to go to bed. Then she tells her in a very cruel way that Ángela was shot and may be on her way to heaven.

Perla comes to tell Estela about what happened to Ángela. Estela shrieks that Sam sent her own sister to her death.

At the hospital Sam tells JM about how she and Ángela were raised together. She was the one with all the toys and clothes, but Ángela never was envious. They agree that Angie is a very noble person.

I hope we see less and less of Estela. I don’t like her much. She tells Perla that Perla and Miguel were lovers before she decided to go for Darío. Estela says that, if she loses her daughter, Perla will also! Estela says that Miguel and Perla were lovers when she was pregnant with Ángela. When she knew that Perla was pregnant, she kept quiet and watched him suffer when Perla married Darío. Estela has NO self-control and sobs wildly while she tells Violeta that her mother is very bad off.

Luis comes after Fernanda with a knife, telling her that if his wife dies Fernanda will either rot in the cemetery or in prison. And he doesn’t care if he rots also. Fer says she didn’t do it, but if Ángela dies, oh well.

Everyone prays a lot. JM prays with Violeta, and Génesis and Emma also pray in Casa Arroyo.

The doctor comes out saying the operation was a success, but she’s still in a delicate condition.

At the hospital Estela tells Sam that it was her fault her husband died. She was the one who got Ángela into this line of work, and it’s her fault she was shot. She curses her. Sam looks absolutely stricken.

Willy keeps coming into Sam’s room, obviously upset she hasn’t come home.

The stepdaughter Ángela saved comes to the hospital and tells JM what happened.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 2

Perla goes into the hospital chapel and gives Estela a piece of her mind. She tells her it wasn’t Samantha’s fault she was kidnapped. They never did find out who did it. Estela retorts that Angie had a quiet life until Sam got her into security work. Perla isn’t buying. She says that with that husband, Ángela did not have a very good life, silencing Estela.

Estela talks about when she saw Miguel and Perla kissing passionately. She says they never thought about her. Perla tells her that, yes, she thought about her. When she knew she was pregnant with Miguel’s child, she seduced Darío so he would think it was his and so that Estela would think the same thing. Yes, Samantha and Ángela are sisters. Estela looks like this caused her to think, but I'm sure she'll keep right on hating Perla.

When Sam comes home Willy starts making snide comments about her having on the same clothes and with her makeup still on. She tells him she’s quitting. She also tells him she feels like dying. She feels guilty.

JM convinces the doctor to let him see Ángela. He declares his love and kisses her. She wakes up saying “You came”.

Sam and Willy receive subpoenas for the trial of Carreño, the narco. They talk about how, in these cases, witnesses disappear.

Darío tells Ofelia while they’re in a car together that he was the one who separated Samantha and Willy. These two can never be together. I think I’m getting an idea of what this is all about. Darío tells Ofelia he needs to know if Sam and Willy are together now and whether Bernardo is involved with his daughter. They kiss passionately. Hmmm. I thought she was hot for Bernie.

JM is in a coffee shop. He takes off his wedding ring. The reptile approaches. This is the way I feel about Fernanda. She tells him that she knows he has fallen for Ángela. He tells her yes and leaves.

Estela comes into Ángela’s room with Violeta. She asks why she didn’t let the two women kill each other. Ángela asks her not to say such a thing, especially in front of her daughter. Luis comes in and plants a kiss on Ángela, who is not in a good position to fend him off. JM sees this and thinks their family is reunited. Sigh. Later, while Ángela is sleeping Luis works on Violeta again, saying surely the kid doesn’t want another man to be her daddy and she has to convince her mama to go back with him.

The reptile puts Vicente up to something to help her.

Inspector Marshall comes to tell JM that Renzo died a few hours after Isabel. In these cases the prime suspect is the husband. [How did he know Renzo and Isabel were involved? I thought he was only suspicious of Ángela and JM.]

Bernie asks Sam to convince Willy not to testify. What? He’s been subpoenaed. How can he avoid it?

COROZON VALIENTE:

Thanks so much Novelera fo this superb recap. Looks like we're in for lots more misunderstanding between JM and Angela. There was also a scene at the end where a nurse tells Angela that JM is a womanizing heartbreaker and she was one of his victims. It was either Fernanda or Luis (wasn't paying close attention) who put her up to it.

It's time for Willy to know Sam is his bodyguard. Surely, that will come out during this whole testimony business.

I think I know why Dario is so set against Willy and Sam being together. But to complete my theory, I need to learn more about Willy's mother and what relationship she may have had with Dario.

Our theory that Sam and Angela are sister has been proven. Still not sure why Miguel was seeing Perla and Estela at the same time and got them both pregnant at the same time. But it was suprising to hear that Perla hoodwinking and marrying Dario was really her sacrificing her love so that pregnant Estela could have Miguel instead.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Excellent recap, Novelera. Yes, apparently Miguel was the father of both Angela and Samantha, so they're half-sisters. I also agree, Dario thinks he's Samantha's father (but he's not). So, if he somehow were also Willy's father (an affair with Bernardo's wife), that would explain why he wouldn't want Willy and Sam to be together.

Here's another (of many) mystery. I think we've learned that Vicente pushed Fernanda down the stairs, and she lost the baby she was carrying from JM. But Bernardo was behind this. Why? We'll probably need a chart to remember who is whose real parent by the end of this show.

BTW, as for Angela having a dream of the future, and of course not dying, the exact same thing happened on Relaciones last night.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 1

So, just like Corazon Valiente, the hero is hurt in the hospital. Mauricio has a dream of the future. He's married to Miranda, and they have a little boy. The druglord flunkie is just about to kill Mau in his IV when he gets a call not to do it. In the hallway, odious bad cop Pedro Garcia compares notes with Oblivious Olivia.

Andres' henchman (don't know his name) is having sex with Gia. After they finish, she's so happy they're on the same team. Maybe not. He puts a pillow over her head and shoots her dead. I guess these were the new orders from on high. The cops find her later, which means Mau is in even more danger.

Orlando is really giving Olivia hell. You were supposed to guard Mau, and you let him escape. He keeps finding more and more evidence that Olivia is letting her "jealousy" cloud her professionalism. Ana Conde calls him to tell him she has security cameras showing a female cop uninvited at the school dance. This would be more evidence for Olivia's being out of control. She, on the other hand, is boiling with anger, has to prove Miranda is with Mau. She went into Miranda's house again w/o cause, and found a brochure for Gia's salon. I'm not really liking her.

Alejandro's parents try to help him. They know he was suspended for fighting, and although they don't tell him they now know he's gay, they do smother him a bit, but he feels he can protect himself.

Nora and Diego have sex, so we know he's not exclusively gay (could be bi). But Nora's Mom bursts in, catches them, says get dressed Nora. Her father has been picked up by the Immigration Police!

JP tells Ana he's sorry he wasn't in class when the fight broke out, but he had a family emergency, and he'll try to let her know next time. He later tells Marta to leave, and convince Olivares that she was in a hotel all the time. Besides, the money is half hers.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 2

Leo discovers the school security cameras, and tells Gonzo, who freaks out. But of course, being a computer genius, Leo can remotely "erase the tapes". He just can't do it right now, with the camera pointing at them. But he will, probably just before Ana shows Orlando the picture of Mau and Yesenia.

Joaco wants revenge on Gonzo for putting ipecac in the salsa. But rather than filing a complaint, he says he learned in jail to resolve things differently. He'll hit Gonzalo "where it hurts him most."

Back at the hospital, there's a lot of praying, and a distraught Miranda decides to tell Carmen the whole truth. But before she has a chance, Mauricio wakes up. He first says he doesn't remember who he is (the old amnesia plotline), but he's just joking. He's fine. Everyone is happy. Unfortunately, the Doctor (Diego's Dad) gives the bad news that Mau is not really fine, could have a cerebral hemorrhage, and we won't know for a while if he's out of the woods. Mau tells Sofi he wants to talk to Miranda. Sofi reluctantly gets Miranda, who tells Patty not to get more involved. She goes back into the room with Sofi keeping guard. Mau tells her about the dream with their little son. All of a sudden, he goes into convulsions! The Doctor, and Mau's family rush into the room. Miranda has tears streaming down her face, as we hear that long beep. Yes, the patient has gone flatline! He's dead for sure. I guess we're going to end this novela early.

Next episode. Either: 1) Mau is dead, and our telenovela ends, or 2) it's a miracle!

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS

Great recap, Hombre! I can practically envision the scenes the way you describe them.

I think the answer to the question you posed is: 2) It's a miracle!

We veterans of telenovelas have seen too many flatlining cliff-hangers to get very upset by hospital scenes!

Corazon Valiente
Hombre, Vivi, Novelera, et al:
Thanks so much for your recaps and comments. Looks like the show is being preempted by soccer in my area again tonight (Tuesday). So sad.
J in Oregon

CORAZÓN VALIENTE- martes

Last night's episode saw the reptile (thanks, Novelera. Fernanda does not appear to be a human being in any respect) being successful in her plan to separate JM and Ángela. She uses the tried and true novela method - hiring an actress to pretend to be a doctor who tells Ángela that JM is a love 'em and leave 'em cad. The false doctor supports her lie with a photoshopped picture of herself and JM. Naturally, Ángela buys this lie hook, line and sinker and doesn't question the false doctor's motives or ask JM for his version.

The reptile then coordinates the doctor's lies with Luis making a reconciliation bid with a ring and Ángela succumbs. Then she agrees to work for the reptile as a bodyguard. JM conveniently gets to witness Ángela and Luis together and he believes that Ángela doesn't love him and has gone back to her husband.

Meanwhile, Willy chats with JM at his office and he finds out that Sam and Ángela are childhood friends and that Sam spent the night in Ángela's hospital room.

Pamela continues to mistreat Génesis and when Génesis threatens to tell her father, Pamela scratches her arm and says that she will say that Génesis did it. Pamela tells Génesis that she won't lose this job because of her.

In another tried and true novela trope, Gabriel plants a valuable necklace that belonged to Emma's mother. When Emma finds it, she accuses Peralta of stealing it. Peralta denies the accusation and says that he will quit being her bodyguard.

Darío and Ofélia are having an affair. Daríio tells Ofélia that he doesn't feel anything for his wife.

The police inspector interviews Fernanda about Isabel. The inspector manages to resist Fernanda's offer of sex, which she finds suspicious.

Finally, the police offer to provide protection for Willy and Sam when they testify against the drug guy. This doesn't start out very well when Willy and Sam attack and knock out a policeman who comes to the office to see them. As Willy and Sam are being taken to a safe house, we see that bad guys have taken the places of the police. Uh oh!

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks so much Jean. I guess the scene with the Doctora telling Angela the lies was in the previews. That's what I get for only half paying attention. Last night I fast forwarded through those scenes since I was mad at Anegla for buying such a load of bull and those fake photos.

How in the heck did Anegla heal so fast that she was able to go back to work?! Or did some time pass that they didn't show us?

I am still enjoying the interaction between Sam and Willy. It was so funny how jealous he was thinking she spent the night out with another. He's not doing a good job with this "no strings attached/we can see other people" thing. :)

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks, Jean, for the fine recap. I agree, uh oh! I even thought the FIRST cops were fake, although it turns out they were tied up in the back of the van. You just can't trust anyone these days!

Vivi, they did say "días despues" at some point.

The fake doctora didn't even give her name to Ángela. I was sort of hoping a real doctor would come in, and say that other woman doesn't work here, but no such luck. But for Ángela to not only turn off to JM, but try to let Luis back in her life, and go to work for Fernanda, ¡es el colmo!

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

Well, of course Mauricio didn't die. However, he's still unconscious with pressure on the brain, and Dr. Hector says there are 3 possibilities: 1) He'll wake up fine, 2) He'll wake up with brain or motor damage, and 3) he'll be in a persistent vegetative state forever! At the end of the episode, he opens his eyes, but we can't really tell if it's 1, 2 or 3.

Meanwhile, Olivia continues with her obsession, coming into Mau's room and rubbing his cheeks, telling herself she's not in love with wonderful, sweet, handsome Mau. Right. Since she wasn't allowed to give Oliver his freedom, she tries Billy. Billy wants to avoid deportation, and Olivia says okay, after which Billy says Mau was definitely in love with Miranda, going to great lengths to save her, but he doesn't really know if Miranda was in love with Mau.

Olivia is getting closer and closer. JP figures this out, and also discovers Mau's jacket and wallet under the sofa at Miranda's house. He later approaches her, says, Detective Closter is getting close to your secret. I can help you with the perfect coartada (alibi). Why don't we just tell everyone we're novios!

Nora's mother tearfully tells her that they lied to her, she too was not born in the US. Now Nora may not be able to go to college! Mother and daughter go to the police station to see Nora's Dad one last time before he gets sent to Mexico.

Sure enough, Ana can't show Orlando the tapes, because they're erased. But she remembers Leo and Gonzalo looking suspiciously at the camera, and is sure Leo did it. No proof yet, though.

Gonzalo is hanging out, living the rich life at Leo's, complaining why can't one of your servants bring him something to drink! Well, um, says Leo, didn't you know..? and Benita, Gonzo's Mom, comes out in her maid's outfit, which really blows Gonzo's mind!

Alejo's parents tell him they know he's gay, and they're okay with it.

Hector asks Diego why he was suspended. Diego said someone dissed my woman. Hector likes this, his kid is macho, and when Diego says he just finished doing it with Nora 3 times, Hector beams, proudly, that's my boy! And the drug tests were negative (they must not have tested for alcohol).

Joaco starts his revenge by telling Liz she deserves better than a guy like Gonzo who gives harmful drugs to all the kids. Olga, Liz's Mom, meets Joaco, tries to seduce him, and gets him to agree to cater a party she's planning.

At the end of the episode, after the bad guys say we don't need to shut up Mau anymore, with Indio and Gia dead, the cops have no case anyway. Orlando tells that to Olivia, too, we never got the big fish, so Olivia, you're off the case!!!

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

BTW, Andrés' right hand man, the one who tells Pedro Garcia what to do, and is related to drugs, is named Victor Andrade. I sort of don't think Andrés is involved in the drug thing, but we'll see.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS

It sounds like they're putting in a plug for the Dream Act in this telenovela. I just can't believe anyone resists this. Kids who were brought here by parents, some of them babies, and who consider themselves American in every way, are denied the opportunity for higher education.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Thanks, Jean!! Really good recap.

Last night certainly was a bummer episode, wasn't it. I could sort of see Ángela buying the fake doctor, but she didn't even confront JM about it. And then she goes back with loser Luis, who causes her to cringe every time he gets near her.

I couldn't believe the reptile tried to seduce the cop!! Now that is just too over the top for me. And they made it seem like he was going to go for it until his cell range!

Hopefully we'll get to see some of Sammy's mad skilz tonight when she saves she and Willy from the guys Carreño called.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE- martes

So glad Peralta didn't just leave when Emma fired him. He wanted to get to the bottom of how her necklace ended up in his jacket. just love the 2 of them. if this were a novela on Univision, it'd take forever to rectify this misunderstanding.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE- martes

oh - Peralta wants to solve the necklace mystery, then he said he'd quit. that's how I understood it. unless my cc3 wasn't working correctly.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Shallowgal, I think what happened was:
-Emma yelled at Pablo why was her locket in his knapsack.
-He said why would I be so stupid to put it in my knapsack?
-She said I don't care, you're fired.
-He said I didn't do it, so I want to find out who did it, and then I'll quit on my own!
-She said (after some other scenes) Okay, I believe you. But Nellie must have put it in your knapsack.
-He said, No, Gabriel must have put it there.
No, Nellie! No, Gabriel!
That's about where they left off. :)

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

Novelera, I do think the writers or producer are advocating in favor of a Dream Act, by showing how unfair it is for Nora. I agree, and feel a lot of sympathy for kids who have lived here just about their whole life, but are under this cloud. But as for how can anyone be opposed to this, let's see what happens in Maryland (supposedly a liberal state), which passed a limited dream act last year, which comes up for a referendum in November. It said that undocumented immigrant kids who had attended high school in Maryland for 3 years, and whose parents paid State taxes those years, could go to a Maryland community college (other colleges were removed) and pay the in state tuition rate, not the non-resident rate. Doesn't seem like much, but over 100,000 people signed petitions causing the law to be suspended pending the referendum.

I wonder what the situation is in Florida, where Relaciones Peligrosas is set.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS

Thanks for that interesting comment, Hombre. I'm going to have to do some googling to see about states passing such legislation. I had been focusing on the federal government doing something (as if, in an election year!)

CORAZÓN VALIENTE- martes

Gracias HdM!

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Angela sure got a lot of poisoned mind from Fernanda/Reptile, who told her the story of how JM got her pregnant in high school to win a bet, and then someone pushed her down the steps, and she lost the baby and became sterile. She says she still loves JM, though. But I'm wondering, is that whole bet story true? Do we really know for sure that it was JM whose baby she was carrying?

CORAZON VALIENTE – miercoles

Let’s see what I can dredge up from memory here.
Luis makes a big play for Angela saying how much he loves her and how he is a reformed character, etc. Angela doesn’t protest but she doesn’t let him kiss her on the lips. Since this all happening in JM’s outer office, he witnesses part of it.

JM interrogates Luis about his relationship with Angela and reminds Luis that he once tried to kill Angela. Luis repeats that that is all in the past now. Angela is his wife and they are going to be together as a family.

The reptile does her part in portraying JM as a cad by telling Angela the whole history of Fernanda being the ugliest girl in the collegio and that JM slept with her on a bet, got her pregnant and how she lost the baby when someone pushed her down the stairs. Angela seems to be impactada.

Bernardo is very nervous about Willy being in protective custody. Dario comes over and makes some refernce to a relationship he had with Bernardo’s presumably dead wife, Nora. Bernardo replies that he doesn’t want to talk about his wife. [So here is more evidence that Dario thinks or knows that he is Willy’s father. Since he thinks he is Sam’s father, too, he would naturally not want Sam and Willy to get together. Obviously, this isn’t Sam’s deep dark secret about her relationship with Willy.]

The real police show up at Bernardo’s house and drop the bombshell that Willy and Sam have been abducted by bad guys. Perla hyperventilates and faints at this news. She says in an accusing way towards Dario that Sam’s being kidnapped is the past repeating itself.
Estela shows up as well and I have no idea how or why she is present.

Nelly defends Peralta against Emma’s accusation of theft. Gabriel shows up. Peralta accuses him of planting the necklace in his backpack and they get into a fight. When Gabriel thinks that Emma is out of the room, he admits to Peralta that he planted the necklace but Emma hears this and throws Gabriel out.

Genesis, who seems to spend an awful lot of time in bed, has another altercation with Pamela. Genesis tells Pamela that she will get her father to fire her. When Pamela comes back into the room, Genesis appears to be under the covers. I naturally thought she had run away but we see JM get a call that Genesis is sick with a high fever. JM runs home with the reptile. The doctor arrives and determines that Genesis has a virus. She tells her father that she wants Angela. JM texts Angela asking her to come over.

Angela has learned about the kidnapping of Sam and Willy. She goes to scene dropping her cell phone in the process. Luis picks it up and sees JM’s text message. He sends a text back pretending to be Angela saying that she isn’t the kid’s bodyguard any more and they should get medical attention for the kid.

For some reason the bad guys are continuing with the charade that they are the police protecting Willy and Sam. This makes no sense. Why didn’t they just shoot them right away but whatever. When they get to the supposed safe house, Willy regards it as a resort but Sam is nervous. She is more nervous when the fake police take away their cell phones claiming that bad guys could locate them by the calls. Sam isn’t nervous enough not to have sex, as a friend, with Willy but when neither she nor Willy can find the guns that they put in their luggage, Sam is sure that the bad guys have them.

Willy knocks out a guard who is distracted by Sam in a bikini and they get a gun and a phone. Sam calls in their location to the police. Sam and Willy try and escape and end up in a barn that the bad guys set on fire.

While Willy and Sam are trying to escape from the barn, some beams fall down, trapping Willy. Sam can’t move them. Willy tells her to save herself but she won’t leave him and admits that she loves him. By now the police have arrived but apparently they aren’t doing anything about trying to rescue Sam and Willy in the barn. So of course, it’s Angela who has to help her friend and she goes into the burning barn. That was it.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 1

Liz eats some food, prepared by Joaco. She remembers Gonzo telling her not to eat at the Halloween party, that she was looking fat. Actually, he didn't want her to eat the syrup of ipecac. But she focuses on the fat thing, goes to the bathroom, sticks her finger down her throat, and here comes another public service message on eating disorders.

Nena comes up to Andres in bikini lingerie, ready for some action. He's too busy, of course, and when she asks, just where DID we get all our money?, he brushes her off. Yes, he's doing SOMETHING illegal (could still be the big druglord). Victor runs into Joaco, don't I know you from somewhere?

Gonzo yells at his Mom for working as a maid, Bob gets mad at Gonzo, who stalks out.

Nora and her Mom watch with tears as her Dad gets taken away. She later tells Diego the whole truth, even that she's "illegal", but when his Dad comes in, they hide it from him.

Ana asks Yesenia and Miranda, who was that masked man? Yesenia lies and said it was a senior she knows who felt sick, and Miranda was also helping. Later, she tells Miranda the senior will back up this story, but she's only doing this for Mau, whom she loves. She hates Miranda.

Olivia wants an order to search Miranda's house. Orlando says okay, just this one last thing, but if you're wrong, you're REALLY off the case. Olivia runs into Oliver's old lawyer, Cortez, who won't tell her a thing, due to attorney client privilege.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 2

But Cortez then calls Miranda, says Olivia is going to search your house, you need me to protect you. And what did you do with that recording? Miranda is shocked, thought Cortez hated her, but no, he'll represent anyone for a fee, and he can help her. She'll think about it. But she tells JP, who says, we have to remove any incriminating evidence.

Gilberto sees JP hugging Miranda, and gets on his case, but these two dangerous characters are about even in their toughness. Santiago, though is not so sinister, although he's no creampuff. He and Ana have sex, and the next day, everyone smells Ana's perfume on him, so Gil goes nuts, and seems ready for revenge over "his woman".

Olivia goes to Miranda's house, together with Orlando and several cops, and triumphantly announces to Miranda she's here to find the evidence to put Miranda in jail. They start the search. In the back room, JP has wiped everything down, hidden the love letters, and put on JP's coat under his own coat, helping Miranda. He comes, out, Olivia says, I know you. What are you doing here? Well, he replies, didn't you know Miranda and I are novios? Everyone else knows!

But what about Mau, opening up his eyes from the coma. Unfortunately, he doesn't recognize anyone. Uh oh. But is is mumbling something, almost like babytalk, which Sofia can hear when she goes up close, about his wife and his little son. WE know what that's about, but his family thinks it's gibberish. The docs think he can recover, maybe this is a good sign. But what if he blabs something about Miranda while in this state?!!!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - Miércoles

Jean, you have an impressive memory! I need an external hard drive backup to recoup anything the next day!

What I was thinking is that JM badly needs a nannycam to record the rotten Pamela verbally mistreating Génesis on a regular basis. I hate this woman almost as much as the reptile. The child has just lost her mother and a woman who offered her affection and a playmate to boot has disappeared from her life. And this nasty b!tch seems one step away from striking the poor thing.

I still am enjoying the novela, but I don't like this phase and don't know how long it will last. What I mean is the writers making the baddies win every round. I'm losing respect for Ángela. She may have a corazón valiente but she has a mente débil if she believes every word out of The Reptile's mouth to be gospel.

Hombre, I also have my doubts about the bet. It just sounds wrong for a guy who's seemed so noble to have bet with cronies that he could bed the ugly duckling.

Ángela should have gotten a clue about her nutcase ex when he practically exploded recognizing Diego's sentiments.

It was pretty amusing the way The Reptile kept trying to synthesize maternal feelings to impress JM in Génesis' room. At one point he told the nurse she was NOT the child's mother and thus needed to leave.

I think the novela would make more sense if they hadn't gone the route of Fernanda planning to get JM to fall in love with her and then kill him. Most villain women just want the guy to love them.

CORAZON VALIENTE – miercoles

It seemed like Peralta and Emma staged it so they could catch Gabriel admitting he planted the necklace.

CORAZON VALIENTE – miercoles

eck! I too hate this stage in the novela, so I >>ff>> most of last night's epi.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Jean, I forgot to actually thank you for the recap! It was very good.

I also meant to say that I enjoyed watching Willy and Sam outwit the seemingly hundreds of thugs that the narco had assigned to guard/kill them. I guess business is still pretty good for Carreño and his drug empire if he can afford to have that many guys involved with eliminating what they think is one harmless playboy and his female chauffeur.

Tonight is book club so I may not even get to watch the show, but I'll do a recap of Friday's episode.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE- jueves

Thanks all for the good comments on yesterday's recap.

Of course Ángela and Sam save Willy in the burning barn. He is only slightly injured. Luis chews Ángela out for taking such a great risk.

The reptile smarms all over JM imagining what their child would be like if it had lived and reminding JM of the party where she fell down the stairs. JM says that he is sorry for what happened and that he wasn't able to attend the party because he was sick. He also says that was a bad time because right afterwards his friend Gonzalo was murdered.

Gabriel manages to convince Emma that he framed Peralta because he was jealous and that he really cares for her. She tells Peralta that she and Gabriel are novios. Later we see Gabriel tell Vincente that he is only interested in Emma for her money and if Peralta gets in the way, he will crush him like the insignificant ant that he is.

Luis, Violeta and Ángela move into Bernardo's house.

Willy and Sam check into a hotel in disguise. Willy confronts Sam with her declaration of love. She says that she said it because of the situation they were in. Willy notes that he thought that he was going to die and he did not make the same declaration to her. He says that what he has for Sam is intense desire but no commitment.

The reptile compliments Luis on taking the opportunity to send JM the message with Ángela's phone. Luis is suspicious of Fernanda's intention towards Ángela but the reptile insists that she only wants to bring Ángela and Luis together. Bernardo interrupts their tete a tete and the reptile won't let him in the room.

Ángela is looking for the reptile and finds Bernardo. He encourages her to tell him what she needs. Later we find out that what Ángela asked for was the night off and Bernardo granted her request.

The reptile is furious that Ángela escaped her vigilance. She chews out her father for permitting her employee to leave. Bernardo asks why she needs a bodyguard anyway and chastises her for only caring about herself.

Ángela shows up at JM's house and asks to see Génesis. JM initially is cold and refuses but finally lets her see the kid.

Then, after some miscommunication, Ángela tells JM about what the false doctor told her in the hospital and JM tells Ángela about the false text message. Each of them swears that they didn't do the bad thing. JM insists on taking Ángela to the hospital where a nurse confirms that there was no such doctor there. [I didn't remember the doctor giving her name but I guess she did.] JM and Ángela don't spend much time trying to figure out who did this to them. Luis would be an obvious suspect. Finally, JM says that he can't resist his desire for Ángela,

Meanwhile, the reptile decides to poison Violeta to show that Ángela is a bad mother for leaving her child. She puts something in a cup of warm milk and honey, goes to Violeta's room and offers to tell her the story of Snow White and the poisoned apple. How appropriate.

Finally, the bad guys find out that Willy and Sam are in the hotel. They poison the food in a room service order. Fortunately for them, their police guard outside eats one of the poisoned strawberries and Sam sees him dead [a really fast acting poison] and manages to prevent Willy from eating another poisoned strawberry.

Then it's our heroes on the run again. They dodge their pursuers through the hotel and end up going down a laundry chute. The bad guys start to search the laundry carts that are on a truck. Sam leaps up and shoots the two bad guys. Willy is astonished at her expertise and asks who she is. "I'm your bodyguard," replies Sam. The credits roll.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks, Jean. That was a wild episode. I was glad Angela and JM were able to clear up a few things. I also don't think we heard the name of Dra. Irene. I agree, why didn't they figure it has to be Luis, or maybe Fernanda, both of which are trying to make a move on either Angela or JM?

But even though this is a small setback for the reptile, she's already pressing ahead with her poison potion scheme.

The scenes with Sam and Willy are so funny. I especially like the music they put on every time Willy "makes a move". And finally Sam has told him she's the bodyguard (he had to be wondering about all her incredible skills (can't cook, though) :)

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

I've been thinking about the morality of the central setup in this show, and although the writers are making us sympathetic to Mau and Miranda, it would be very difficult (but not impossible) to picture a happy ending. So far, Manuel, Sofia and Patty know everything. Yesenia and Oliver know part of the story, and many others are suspicious. I keep thinking back to the original Tristan and Isolde story, where they gave in to their prohibited love. But the ending was a tragedy. Could this show end that way, too?!

So far, no. Olivia ends her search of Miranda's apartment, much maligned by Orlando, without finding anything. She remembers the picture of Mau escaping the window, and has the cops take prints from the window, but I'm betting they're JP's prints, now. Besides, Orlando even said prints wouldn't prove anything, except that Mau was there for tutoring.

Miranda tries to burn the love letters, but can't. JP takes them and the jacket, and he'll take care of things. Hopefully he'll find a way of getting Mau's wallet back to him. He's really being nice, and Miranda says this doesn't mean we're really novios, right? JP says right, just being your friend is enough. A cop follows them, so they have to act lovey dovey some more.

JP is interviewed by Olivia, and tries to convince her, but she's not convinced. Even after Orlando tells her AGAIN to can it, she's off the case, she decides to visit Oliver and Billy again.

Meanwhile, Victor decides to pin the murder of Gia on Joaco! He has the real killer take the gun and some other evidence and plant it in Yesenia's trailer (while she's taking a shower). Why doesn't that girl ever lock her door!?

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS part 2

Olga (Liz's Mom) is having a birthday party, catered by Joaco. Liz wants to go, but Gonzo says no. He takes her to his new digs, a nicely decorated warehouse he shares with Javier, the other drug dealer. The fridge is filled not just with beer, but with bottles of pills, and bottles of syrup of ipecac. Liz takes one of the ipecac bottles, and I initially think she's going to turn Gonzo in. But then I remember she's become obsessed with her weight (due to Gonzo's words), and these will help her throw up. I'm not sure if this is bulemia or anorexia, but it isn't good. When Liz says she wants to go to her Mom's party, Gonzo says I show you a party, and forces her into some rough sex. She keeps going along with it though, apparently having lost all self esteem.

Leo really likes Liz, and his Mom knows, but he can't betray his best bud. Sofia doesn't know what she's to do. She's not too keen on going back to Leo, and although she'd drawn to Cassius, lots of people might disapprove. Especially Cassius's Dad, who has picked out the "perfect" novia for him, a Haitian girl, whose picture he shows Cassius.

Ricardo (Liz's Dad) has invented something, and Andres is going to invest in it (using dirty money, I'm sure). Joaco gets all this info, and writes down Victor Andrade's name. At the party, he's finished with the food, and runs into Patty, who likes him, and they go back to the trailer. He looks for something to drink. When Patty turns away, he stumbles on the gun and evidence the bad guys planted. And right outside, Patty says all sorts of cops have just shown up!!!!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE- jueves

Gracias, Jean.

I am angered about Fernanda poisoning Violetita's drink. must we really put up with her for a few months? I wish the novela gods would smite her down already.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - JUEVES

Excellent recap, Jean! I did watch it after all when I got back from book club. If anyone is interested we discussed an excellent novel, Annie Dunne, by the Irish writer Sebastian Barry.

JM told The Reptile that he was sick the night of the costume party. And she didn't react? What? Doesn't this get him off the hook for supposedly pushing her down the stairs?

If anyone was wondering how low the reptile would go, we now know. Actually, I don't think she's poisoning her to kill her, just to make her very sick and wrack Angie with guilt. Not that she would hesitate to do that. But without the added incentive of the child wanting to live with her father, Angie might drop Luis like a rotten potato [he doesn't stir me enough to be called a hot potato].

Willy was a bit annoying last night, teasing Sam about HER declaration of love and reminding her that he didn't say the same thing, even at death's door.

So I guess the issue of whether JM really impregnated the reptile with some little reptile egg has been answered. JM didn't deny it. But it could turn out it was someone else's egg.

Shallowgal, I'm positive we're going to have to wait a very long time for the requisite smiting of the reptile.

Could we be so lucky as to have JM and Ángela fall into bed together tonight?

CORAZON VALINETE:

Thanks so much Jean. I loved the fun Mr. and Mr.s Smith scenes with Willy and Sam. Finally he knows the truth (well, some of it). I did think it was cruel that he taunted her because she said she loved him, and he didn't say the same to her. We know he loves her. Why's he so afraid to tell her?

I'm glad Angela and JM cleared up the lies, but baffled why they didn't take the next step to figure out who would go through so much trouble to separate them. I am totally creeped out by Fernanda poisoning little Violeta. Ugh!

Fernanda did look pensive after JM said he was sick the night of the party. Not sure if it changes her plans though.

Corazon Valiente
Thanks everyone as always for the helpful summaries and comments. Hombre you are right last night was a wild episode.
Vivi--I agree that if Fernanda's whole revenge paradigm is based on JM being the one who ruined her life because he pushed her down the stairs, causing her to be sterile, why then is she continuing to carry out her rampage, now that she knows he wasn't even at the party?
Is this a hole in the plot, or just an indication of how sick she is?
J in Oregon
