El Mundo de Telemundo - week of April 9: Discuss among yourselves

Feliz Semana Santa y Pascua por judeos. Maybe it’s sweeps week, too because our novelas seem to be full of action. I will get the ball rolling with Friday’s episode of Corazón Valiente.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE-  viérnes
We open with the car that Génesis and Pámela were riding in overturned and in flames. The bad guys who caused the crash don’t get out of their car to check their work.
JM asks Ángela to marry him and to use the familiar tú to him. She can’t believe that this is happening but she points out that she is married. JM replies that he will help her get a divorce. Ángela is also concerned that Luis will try and harm JM but he assures her that won’t happen. They kiss passionately.
The reptile is telling her tale of adolescent woe to Marshall. After recounting her many humiliations by Isabel and her friends, the reptile says that she harbors no resentment. In fact, she is grateful to her tormentors because thanks to them she transformed herself from ugly duckling (patito feo) to the beautiful, desirable woman she is now (not!). Marshall replies that he has his doubts.
Sam confronts Darío about her lost baby. He protests that she couldn’t be a mother at 15. She says that he took her to Mexico almost by force to give birth. Darío replies that she was ill and he was only trying to protect her. Sam denies that. She asserts that he didn’t do it for her. He did it to protect his reputation.

Emma continues to accuse Peralta of trying to rape her. When they hear sirens, Nelly reveals that she called the police.
JM and Ángela are kissing when she sees Luis and Bernardo together on the street. She forces JM to the ground to hide. JM doesn’t want to conceal their relationship but Ángela says that she has to talk to Violeta and Luis first. JM accidentally triggers his car alarm. Luis starts to investigate but he gets a “job completed” call from Fernanda’s hired killers and is distracted.
Bernardo comes into the reptile’s meeting with Marshall and confirms the story of his daughter being ugly as an teenager and says that thanks to him, she is now the beautiful, successful, virtue-filled woman that he sees. Before he leaves, Bernardo whispers in the reptile’s ear that she almost has Marshall in her hands. He leaves and the reptile tells Marshall that if he still has doubts, he should investigate her completely.
The police arrest Peralta and Emma doesn’t recant her accusations.
Willy demands information from Bernardo about the death of his mother. Sol minces in and Bernardo appears to be appreciative of her charms. He also finds out that she is the sister of the murdered Gonzalo. When they’ve gone, Bernardo maintains that Willy’s mother never cared about him or his sister while he Bernardo sacrificed his personal life to be mother and father to his children. Willy isn’t buying, though, and wonders why Bernardo is so nervous if he has nothing to hide.
The reptile is very pleased with herself for having had Génesis killed. She doesn’t want anyone to come between her and JM. Luis reminds her of her promise not to hurt Ángela or Violeta. The reptile replies that but for this promise they would already be dead.
Bernardo tells Fernanda that he is concerned about the police inspector and the fact that Sol is now working at the company. The reptile replies that that crime (killing Gonzalo) was in the past. She has other things on her mind now like what dress to wear to Génesis’ funeral. Bernardo appears to be impactado.
Willy has asked Eugenia, the prosecutor, to come to see him. She asks why. Has he received another threat? Willy flashes back to the letter he received but he says no.  He wants Eugenia to use her connections to find out about the death of his mother, which took place in Valle del Bravo in Mexico. She advises him that he needs to go there and she wants to go, too.
Sam asks Darío what he did with the baby and if he has ever felt any remorse for what he did. She has done what he wants by working at his company. She begs him to tell her what he did with the baby so that she can relieve the anguish that has kept her from being happy all these years. Darío remains silent. Sam blackmails him by threatening to tell Perla about his affair with Bernardo’s wife. Darío capitulates and says that he left the baby with the parish priest in Valle del Bravo.   [Ok, novela logic would say that we have already seen this missing child, which would mean it would have to be Génesis or Violeta. If she hasn’t seen Willy for 10 years, the kid must be 10 years old - about the same as Violeta and Génesis. But I don’t think it is either of them because first, Sam refers to her “hijo,” her son. Presumably, she was able to see the sex of her baby. Also, Sam has never had any mysterious attachment to either Génesis or Violeta. Generally in novelas, blood calls. So I assume that we are going to have a new child in the novela. We’ll see.]
JM and Ángela go to a hotel room and are just getting down to business when JM gets the call about the car crash.
JM and Ángela go to the crash scene and are told that there were no survivors. Poor JM goes crazy with grief and has to be restrained.
Apparently, Sam has had a private detective working for her to find the baby. She gives him the new information that she has. He can’t go to Mexico for a few days so naturally, Sam says that she is going herself right away.
At the police station, Emma makes a formal complaint against Peralta. Peralta’s parents arrive.
The reptile can’t figure out where Ángela is. Sol tells her that: 1) JM hired her to work at the company and that, in addition, she is living in his house; and 2) JM went off with a woman.
Ángela wanders off from the crash scene. In her mind, she hears Génesis praying to her guardian angel. She calls Génesis and eventually finds her unconscious. [I guess the police couldn’t figure out if there were one or two bodies in the car.]
Bernardo chats up Sol and invites her out for coffee.
I guess Darío is in the aviation business. If we knew that before, I had forgotten. Sam is standing by a plane and Willy comes up to her asking for help to rent a plane.

Peralta is taken to a cell with a big scary guy.
Génesis goes the hospital. Ángela assures JM that Génesis will be fine. Marshall arrives at the hospital and tells JM that the crash wasn’t an accident.
Emma withdraws her accusation against Peralta.
The reptile and Luis arrive at the hospital.
Sam tells Willy that no planes are available. [There are probably 50 places to rent a plane in LA but whatever.] A guy comes in and tells Sam that her plane to go to Mexico will be ready at 7am. Eventually, Willy tells Sam why he is going to Mexico and suggests that they go together.  When Perla comes into Sam’s office, Willy asks her to help him convince Sam to take him with her to the Valle del Bravo. “You told him?” asks Perla, jumping to the obvious conclusion. Perla and Sam try to cover up their error and finally Sam agrees to take Willy to Mexico with her. He doesn’t mention Eugenia.
When the police go to the cell to release Peralta, they find him bloody and unconscious.
Bernardo takes Sol to his house and gets her to reveal that her parents hold her responsible for the death of their son, Gonzalo, because she witnessed the murder!
The reptile tells Luis that he has to make sure that Génesis does not leave the hospital alive.
JM and Ángela go to see Génesis. She tells them that she was ejected from the car in the crash and when Pámela didn’t wake up, she crawled away from the car before it exploded. She repeated her prayer until Ángela found her. Then Génesis realizes that she can’t move her legs. Uh oh - that telenovela staple - paralysis! But we all know that it won’t be permanent.

CORAZON VALIENTE

Thank you so much for the recap. This was really such a good episode. There was a lot going on. I just knew that they couldn't kill off Genesis. Too bad for Pamela though but she was really nasty so I guess she got the end that she deserved. I sure hope that the paralysis won't be permanent. I knew something like this would happen but I was hoping that it would not. Poor JM and Angela. They can never make love can they? This is the second time that they get interrupted while Sammy and Willy never do.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS

This was a great episode too. I will wait for the recap to be put up before I comment on it.

CORAZON VALIENTE

I forgot to mention that I wish Emma would quit on treating and doing the things that she does towards Pablo. Accusing him of rape and actually pressing charges against him and having him locked up was way too much. If I were Pablo's mother I would have slapped her like Carmen slaped Miranda in Relaciones Peligrosas after Emma admitted that it was all a lie. I hope she gets locked up and has to spend the night in a cell for having lied to to the police. Maybe that'll teach her a lesson.

I meant to say that it was going too far and not too much. Sorry for my mistake.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - VIERNES

Excellent recap, Jean!!!

I now have a name for Luis. To me he is The Rat. There's something rodent-like about his face.

Well, one thing pleased me. They didn't go with the cliché that Juan Marcos became guilt-ridden over almost doing the deed with Ángela while his daughter was in the car crash. Often the guilt-ridden parent then renounces the object of their sexual desire as a form of self-punishment. JM still maintains that he wants to be with Ángela. I loved it that, I think in relief over good news about Génesis, they embraced right in front of The Rat and The Reptile.

I'm getting a bit tired of Bernardo's dirty old man routine. I guess it's supposed to be comic relief every time he puts on that suave act in front of a young woman. But I'm tired of it.

There was no way Fernanda could have known about Génesis unless she arranged it, so it was amazing she practically admitted it to her father. If he weren't such a snake himself, he'd out her and have her locked up in a cell or a loony bin for 50 years!

I was riveted by the scene between Samantha and Darío. Excellent acting by them both. I know Darío just looked wooden through most of it, but I still think that was good acting. He did say that Samantha became very ill after the birth and he admitted to her that he hated the baby because he almost caused him to lose HIS only child. So that was part of the motive for leaving the child with a priest. And I wasn't sure Sam's child was a boy until one point in their conversation when she referred to the child as "él". Hijo, of course, also means child. So she could have been referring to a child of either sex.

I don't think Pablo Peralta should forgive Emma. It was kind of ridiculous that the cops would let her be the one to go into his cell and tell him he is now free. He's got blood all over him, so she's got a heavy load of guilt to carry. So she actually did admit she made it up for revenge! For a while there I was wondering if she hallucinated rape when they were so close to making love. She obviously has a fear of sex.

There appears to be no scene you can enjoy (JM and Ángela consoling each other in the hospital) without The Reptile and the Rat showing up to spoil it. It's sickening the way every time JM has a reptile-caused moment of grief, she throws herself at him, slithering all over his body in pretend commiseration. And the rat's default behavior is a jealous rant.

I'm not happy about the paralysis. That is an unnecessary addition on the part of the writers, in my opinion.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks for the recap, Jean. I agree that maybe Pablo shouldn't forgive Emma this time, but she does have this illness, and if he can accept that, he can accept occasional manifestations of it. I'm guessing they will eventually be together.

It's funny (but typical) how both Willy and Sam want to go to the same exact village at the same time, but for different reasons. I think Sam is actually going to pilot the private plane they go it (she said she was a pilot).

Novelera, I like the name Rat for Luis.

I think Bernardo already knew (or half knew) that Fernanda killed JM's parents and Isabel. But a) she's his daughter, b) she may have something on him he doesn't want to get out, and/or c) he's probably worse than she is, just acts sort of nice, but eventually we may learn of something horrible he did (just my guess), besides being responsible for having Reptile pushed down those steps.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

I meant, Bernardo may know about Fernanda being behind the attempt on Genesis, but he knows way more than that, and won't act.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 1

Carmen visits Miranda in jail. She lets her have it with criticism, and Miranda is meek, but says the only truth is that she really loves Mau. America heard that Mir is in for abuse of a minor. So that night, she and her buddies attack Miranda, kicking her in the tummy. Miranda sinks to the floor. Conejo helps a little, the guards break it up, America gets sent to solitary, Miranda to the infirmary, where the Doc says, might you be pregnant?(!) Miranda thinks no way, we only did it 2 times, and used protection. But maybe she is, we don't know yet. If she is, I wonder what Carmen would say!!

Nena's words to Gonzo hit home. He decides it's a bad idea to dose Mr. Santi's coffee, and calls Javier, don't do it! Too late, Santi already drank the stuff, and goes into a stupor. He thinks back to when he was an addict (not sure this comes from stuff you drink, don't you have to inject, but let's not quibble), he's catatonic. Julia (with not even a bandage on the hand she cut yesterday) and Armando get him out of there, wonder if he's relapsed!

Orlando tells Olivia she'd better have good proof or she's goin' down. Olivia gets the results from the love letter, yes it had Miranda's prints on it (still doesn't prove sex, though). She needs video or a picture. Mau says to Sofia, the only thing that could get me in trouble is that picture of Miranda nude. Yesi is standing right there. The computer version was erased, but Yesi happens to have a print of the picture. Will she turn Mau in?!

Gilberto gets home before Teresa, immediately hits her liquor cabinet, pours a drink and searches for the paper Ricardo was discussing with Teresa. He finds it, a life insurance policy for $3 million, payable to Teresa. How can Gil cash in? When Tere comes home, he starts COMING ON to her! Yep, maybe he can get with Tere, bump off Ricky and ch-ching!

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 2

Alejo tells Nora, that the idea to marry Sebastian to get citizenship or residency actually does make sense. But then what about Diego? (her boyfriend and Alejo's secret obsession) she asks.

Victor tells Joaco he's hired as Ricardo's chauffeur. Something's fishy here. Could Vic mess with the car to kill the 2 of them? Joaco's suspicious, but Ricardo's happy. Joaco and Liz exchange a look of mutual attraction.

Carmen wonders how her whole life got ruined (she's kicked out her husband, daughter and son hate her) all from the doings of THAT WOMAN. But she may be wondering if she's going too far with protecting her "little boy". Not sure about this.

Olivares got half his money from Marta, but figures (correctly) that JP has the rest. He threatens JP, and to harm Miranda. JP gets an alarm system installed. JP also visits Mau and beats him up a bit for causing Miranda's problems, and visits Olivia and threatens her (she threatens back, calling him Daniel!).

JP is going to use $30,000 of the money for Miranda's bail and lawyer (Cortez). Patty had $2,000, which wasn't enough. JP tells her he borrowed the money, and Patty thinks he's a prince (I'd say a knave).

All that in one episode. The biggest question: Is Miranda embarazada? Can't wait to find out!

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Jean, thanks for the detailed (i.e. Peralta is taken to a cell with a big scary guy) recap. I didn't even notice him.

I feel for Peralta. He's a gentle soul from a seemingly decent family, and does not deserve to be treated by Emma that way. I agree he should not forgive her for a while. But I wonder if he really is hurt, or pulling a prank to get back at Emma.

I didn't think Génesis would die, but from the previews, it sure did look like it, so I had my doubts. So happy that Pamela was killed off right away.

Novelera - thank heavens for the non-cliché JM/ Ángela storyline. Ha!- i like the new name for Luis.

For now, I'm bored w/ Sam/Willy so I don't really pay attention to them, and the others; only to JM and Peralta.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

one more thing - that Génesis is the most adorable little actress. even with the neck brace, she can emote.

CORAZON VALIENTE:
Thanks so much Jean for the recap. I still haven't had a chance to watch my recording, but I'm so glad that Genesis didn't die. I am happy to be rid of Pamela.

You all are so right about bad things happening every time Anegla and JM start getting physical. Looks like it won't happen for these two until the end.

Road trip to Mexico for Sam and Will? We just know they'll get into trouble and have some adventures.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

This show is based on a Spanish show called Física o Química. That show aired for about 7 "seasons", which were weekly hour long shows, about 10 per season, I think from 2008-2011. I watched an episode from the first season, and it's fascinating how they portrayed all the same characters (but with different names). They of course have people like Mau and Miranda, and a blond, geeky best friend of Miranda, a female principal, a gay guy, some druggies, the easygoing art teacher, the phys ed teacher, etc. The outsider kid we have with Cassius, being black, they have an Asian kid, also discriminated against, also in love with the sister of the main character, I think.

It's not so easy to understand, as they talk really fast, and in the Spanish from Spain. Also, it seems a little less spoiled rich kids than ours. But it was really fun to see the original.

RELACTIONES PELIGROSAS

Thanks, Hombre, for the interesting info on the Spanish precurser to this show. It's always interesting to see earlier versions of telenovelas. I watched a little bit of O Clone, the Brazilian one that came before El Clon.

By the way, I have a LOT of difficuly with European Spanish accents. La Reina del Sur was good for my comprehension. I was actually understanding nearly everything, say, Fátima said after a while.

Because it was Friday night, I watched Relaciones Peligrosas. Boy that Olivia is a complete nutcase! Did she ever actually come on to Mauricio, or is it all suppressed lust?

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

I really, really don’t like Aylín Mujica. There’s something just so artificial about the way she looks. Of course, nearly all the female antagonists in telenovelas are devious, often bat shit crazy psychopaths. But most of them at least seem attractive. And, when they are giving their all to try to seduce the galán, you can see how pretty and sexy they are.

But Aylín just looks weird to me. When the cop Marshall was looking at her, after she shed the crocodile tears, his eyes were sort of glazed. It made me think of the way cobras are supposed to hypnotize their prey before striking. And I just can’t get my head around the idea that any man would find her attractive.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Hi Novelera - I agree with you about Aylín Mujica's looks. but the one that takes the cake for me is Sabine Moussier - OMG she is hideous. at least, sometimes, Aylín is funny (not in this show, but in Aurora).

CORAZON VALIENTE

They killed off Pamela, any chance that they will do the same to Emma? I just don't like that character, and after watching this TN for a while, I just couldn't stand it and switched to the other TN at univision.

I think Aylin is supposed to look like that for this character, I don't think there should be anything likeable about her in personality or looks.

As for Sabine, the last episode of Ni contigo ni sin ti, aired on Friday. Sabine had short hair and played against her usual bad girl type and she was quite good. I wish she would do more of those type of characters than the one note bad women she usually portrays.

Just wanted to say thank you, while I don't watch I do keep up with Corazon, I do hope to read some day that Emma was written off, so I can go back to watching it all the time.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Just watching my recording now. I also don't see Aylin as a beauty, but she certainly has worked on (and had work done on) her body. Still don't see what these men are SO drawn to. I also don't see how the girl that plays her in the flashbacks is SO ugly. She was just a bit plain, shy and wore glasses.

Something that has been bugging me for a while now-- why does Angela wear an earpiece when she doesn't work with a team anymore? What's that about? Who's she listening/talking to?

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 1

Poor little Génesis is distraught about not being able to move her legs. She asks Ángela not to leave her.

Emma is hysterical in the cell, after finding Peralta with blood on him. [How did the big thug that stabbed him get out of the cell? Telenovela magic, I suppose.]

Sol tells Bernardo she was hidden behind a piece of furniture when they killed Gonzalo, her brother. She tells him she saw it all but the shock wiped her memory and she can’t remember who did it, but she does have an intuition that it was a woman.

The rat tells the reptile that it won’t be easy to find someone to kill a child and as quickly as she wants it done. The reptile says she’ll do it herself.

Pablo Peralta is not dead. He won’t look at Emma when leaving the jail with his parents. He tells her another bodyguard will come and she should not leave the jail until he comes. He doesn’t even want to hear her apologies.

Juan Marcos tells the reptile that Génesis has a lesion in her spinal medulla and probably won’t walk again. He doesn’t realize he’s talking to the reptile, who has a lesion in the area where her heart should be.

Bernardo lures a half-in-the-bag Sol to his bedroom.

Ángela tells Sam, who’s come to comfort her, that there’s a curse on her relationship with JM. The first time they almost made love, Isabel died. The second time someone tried to kill Génesis.

Willy tries to dissuade Eugenia from coming along to Mexico, but she lays it on thick about her connections in Mexico and he agrees for her to come.

Emma shows up at Peralta’s parents house, new bodyguard Victor in tow. [Boy, this security agency could definitely double as a modeling agency. They have some fine looking bodyguards! Victor is also a papichulo.] Pablo’s mother tells her she’s not welcome in her house. But eventually Emma and Pablo are alone. She tells him she can’t bear his being involved with Nelly. He tells her he and Nelly have a right to be together, as long as they don’t neglect their work. Emma asks if he loves Nelly. He says no, but he does like her and feels happy to be around her.

JM has let the reptile convince him to go home to eat something and change clothes since Génesis is asleep. Uh oh. Before he actually leaves he tells Ángela that Fernanda is in the room with Génesis but he’d really feel better if Ángela were there with her. Ángela comes in the room as the reptile is just about to inject the child with something. [Right. She just happens to have a syringe with some poison in her bag at all times!] Angela tells the reptile that Génesis asked her to stay with her and she’d never forgive herself if the child woke up and didn’t see her there.

Willy thinks he’s going to fly the plane to Mexico, but Sam tells him she’ll be flying it. He gives in gracefully, telling her she always has to be in control. They get overcome with passion and go on board the plane for some hanky panky. Softened up by this, Sam is just about to tell Willy about their child being the reasons she is going to Mexico, when Eugenia arrives in her flight costume, some kind of cocktail dress. Sam, of course, does not tell Willy.

Génesis tells JM and Emma that she clearly saw the face of the guy who tried to run them off the road.

Ángela is just about ready to tell the rat that she’s backing out of the wedding when he starts up his same boring mantra about Violeta wanting to see them at the altar.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 2

Perla barges into Bernardo’s room and sees him in bed with Sol. She rightly tells him he’s in bed with a very young and drunk girl.

Marshall, apparently the only cop in Los Angeles, is also assigned to investigate the car crash that killed Pamela Ballester and injured Génesis.

Génesis begs Ángela to be her bodyguard again and to come back to their house. JM asks her to come back also. G wants Violeta to come also. Ángela says she has to ask Fernanda.

Eugenia is apparently not a feminist. She is not happy it isn’t a guy in a uniform who’s going to fly the plane and asks to speak to Sam’s boss. She’s shut down right away by Sam telling her she IS the boss.

Violeta starts whining upon hearing that Ángela may return to Casa Arroyo. She wants her mother and father together. Génesis tells Violeta that she will always have her mother, but Génesis does not have a mother any more. Violeta agrees for them to return while G recuperates.

Willy gets a call from one of those voice-disguising machines telling him the plane may never reach its destination. Why in blue blazes doesn’t Willy tell Sam about this? Instead they go off into the wild blue yonder, with Eugenia pouting in the rear of the plane. Something’s wrong, and alarms go off.

Marshall comes to beg the reptile’s pardon for having misjudged her (!). She feeds him some more BS. He’s just moving in for the big kiss when he gets a call. Fernanda overhears someone from his office saying that Génesis can identify the driver of the car.

JM tells Ángela he wants her to return to his house, not as a bodyguard, but as his wife. She begs him not to tell Luis; the rat is dangerous.

Said rat walks in with Violeta in his arms looking murderous. Violeta has told him that her mother and she are going back to stay at Casa Arroyo. JM and Violeta go off so Ángela can speak with the rat. She tells him she’s going to quit working for Fernanda and return to being Génesis’ bodyguard. He tells her there better not be anything going on because he’s capable of killing anyone who tried to take her away.

Perla continues to practically beg Bernie for crumbs of affection. The louse tells her to get over it; he likes them young. He says Sol is just a diversion and that the one he wants is Samantha. He wants her back in his house as his lover or his wife. SHE’S the kind of woman he wants. Perla loses it and tells him Samantha will NEVER be his because he’s the grandfather of the child Samantha had with his son, Willy!

Ángela is afraid of what the rat might do to JM, so she tells him she’s coming back only as a bodyguard for Génesis. And she’s going to marry Luis.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Thanks, Novelera, for the great recap.

I particularly liked: "Juan Marcos tells the reptile that Génesis has a lesion in her spinal medulla and probably won’t walk again. He doesn’t realize he’s talking to the reptile, who has a lesion in the area where her heart should be."

How true.

Bernie and Sol - yuck. Bernie and Perla - pathetic.

It seems a little weird that Génesis would not only be able to id the driver of the car that caused the accident but would volunteer that fact. She is a very precocious child. I hope she can lose the neck brace soon. It must be tough to deliver her lines with that thing on.

Bernardo is now the repository of many secrets. He knows that Sol witnessed Gonzalo´s murder, he knows that the reptile caused the accident that injured Génesis and now he knows about Sam´s baby. Unless Sol is going to become a major character, I doubt that she will be around for too much longer.

It was very unprofessional of Marshall to let the reptile hear his official police business phone conversation. It was unprofessional and very stupid to buy all of the reptile´s story.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Great recap, Novelera, lots of good and funny observations.

I agree, why doesn't Willy tell Sam about the threats. I guess it's his pride. And the fact that not telling important things is a standard telenovela trick to get us mad, and extend the drama :)

I'd really like Angela to tell Violeta that she doesn't love Luis, and that she does love JM. But that can't happen for a while.

At some point, JM is just going to have to tell Luis, yes, he DOES love Angela. JM and Angela are so worried about people getting hurt if the truth comes out. But people are getting hurt anyway!

I'm not sure, but Eugenia looks like someone who plays a teacher on Una Maid en Manhattan, a completely different role, but it may be the same actress.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

bwaahahaha, Novelera. Loved "[Boy, this security agency could definitely double as a modeling agency. They have some fine looking bodyguards! Victor is also a papichulo.] I too noticed him, and thought he'd be good for Nelly.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

How realistic is this?
-Mauricio and Miranda have to testify before a judge as to whether they had sex. There's no prosecutor, just a judge.
-They should be able to plead the 5th amendment, but no.
-They swear to tell the truth on "the constitution" a big fat book which looks like a bible (soft leather cover, red dyed page sides, ribbons for placemarkers)
-Miranda can't afford bail, but JP pays it in $10,000 cash. Miranda vows to repay this. But in reality, if the defendant shows up at trial (she did), the bail is paid back to the person who put it up. The writers leave that out.

Of course, these shows don't NEED to be accurate, just exciting, and the writers definitely know how to do THAT!

Meanwhile, Benita sees some papers in Andres' briefcase with a double plus sign. Nena gets Leo to tell where Gonzo is staying, and when she shows up there, his "drugs" have that same sign!

Santiago gradually gets over his drug overdose, with the help of Julia. Both she and Armando think he's started using again, but he points out to his Dad, no needle marks, see? Dad doesn't believe him, of course. Santi figures he was slipped some drugs, and it had to be that coffee. He then decides who did it - Gilberto!

This is wrong, but would be poetic justice. Julia has a recording of Ana talking about refraining from further sex with Santi. She anonymously sends it to Gil, who plays it for Ana. He says, this proves you were unfaithful. Now, in the divorce, you'll get NOTHING! (This is so wrong, in most states, who gets what is based on need. Plus, it doesn't even prove they had sex. And finally, Gil himself is guilty of adultery with the chorus girl (and many others). But it sure is dramatic to say Ana gets nothing and her career as principal is toast!

JP has a money counter, and counts out his millions in cash. He then calls Ignacio (the guy with the artificial hand) and says you work for me now, here's tons of money, keep taps on Olivares. Also, do you know of a pawn shop? I need to launder this money. Okaaaay.

So we have the "trial" and both Mau and Miranda swear they never had sex! Faced with this, the judge is giving Miranda conditional release, but takes her passport, and Mauricio is given an orden de alejamiento (restraining order, last week we had an orden de allanimiento, or search warrant). How's Mau gonna stay away from Isolde?

Vivi, Olivia did come on to Mau once at a beach, and Mau rejected her. She also touched him and said things while he was "unconscious". Other than that, it's all repressed lust, but I think that's about to change.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS

Hombre, you are so right! That was the nuttiest legal "happening" I've ever seen in any telenovela.

I did watch last night.

So JP is a drug dealer or something? Sorry to be asking questions that are obvious if I were watching regularly.

I had a strong desire to slap Mauricio's mother. I think the judge felt the same.

I thought Mauricio's response about the Isolde letters was excellent. He more or less said Olivia would be too dumb to understand the letters that were meant to be part of his documentation to get a scholarship (at least that's what I thought he was saying).

I hope she's not pregnant. I'm so over the pregnant protagonist crap.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

Novelera, JP isn't a drug dealer. He lived in Mexico (under his real name, Daniel) and was married to Laura, who was expecting his child. But he cheated on her with her sister, Marta (whom he's still "dating"). JP has said (we're not sure it's true, but I think so) that Laura caught JP and Marta having sex, and was so shocked she threw herself off a balcony to her death. Laura and Marta's father, Jaime Olivares, doesn't believe JP, thinks he killed Laura, even though a trial cleared him. I think all the money he got was from life insurance on Laura. But JP could be lying about some of this.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – martes

I’ll give one of my “from memory” quickies a go.

Valle de Bravo:

The teaser alarms on the plane that Sam was flying turned out to be a smoke alarm triggered because Eugenia was smoking in the cabin. The plane lands safely and Eugenia apologizes for doubting Sam’s abilities as a pilot.

The priest that took in Sam’s baby is dead but his long-time “assistant” tells Sam that when the priest got sick, the kid, named Lucas, left town and she has no idea where he is. She gives Sam some baby clothes and a photo of the baby.

A servant at the rancho of Willy’s family tells him that his mother committed suicide by OD’ing on sleeping pills, I think it was, after Bernie came to visit and they had a fight.

Sam is crying over the photo of her baby and Willy comes in asks why she is crying.

Los Angeles:

At first Bernie doesn’t believe what Perla tells him about Willy and Sam’s baby but she convinces him. Further, she tells him that she is the only person who knows where the kid is now.

More of the same with Ángela, JM and the rat. JM can´t understand why Ángela has agreed to marry the rat even though she admits that she loves JM. Ángela won´t tell him that she is afraid of what the rat will do if she leaves him. JM tells the rat that he is in love with Ángela. The rat tells the reptile that he is going to kill JM. The reptile makes it clear to the rat that if he does so, she will nothing to live for and will have no problem killing the rat, Ángela and Violeta.

More of the same with Emma, Peralta and Nelly. Peralta has a fever. Both Emma and Nelly want to take care of him. Emma keeps begging for forgiveness and Nelly keeps telling her to go away.

Perla tells Darío that when the priest in Valle del Bravo got sick, she took Lucas to the states and put him in an orphanage in Los Angeles. Darío is impactado. I guess I was wrong about how old the kid is. According to Sam, the kid would be almost 15 years old.

Apparently Sol had to leave Emma´s house. She shows up with her luggage at Bernie´s place. In a very funny scene, the reptile comes into the room with her horrible limp cat and Sol freaks out. Naturally, Bernie thinks that she has recognized the reptile as her brother´s killer but no, she has a phobia about cats. Bernie says that she can´t stay with him but he will set her up in an apartment provided she quits her job at the family business. She agrees.

Génesis works with the police artist to produce a drawing of the driver of the car that caused the crash.

I think that was about it.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Excellent recap, Jean. I'm pretty sure Sol DOES know who killed her brother, and was just covering, pretending to be afraid of cats, when she saw the Reptile. I'm pretty sure Sol has said she's here for revenge. Her story that she "forgot" is a lie. I think.

Amazingly, Genesis was able to produce an exact picture, and I think the police have figured out who it is.

It's convenient for our heroes JM and Angela that the Rat won't allow Angela or Violeta to be harmed, and the Reptile won't allow JM to be harmed. So only non essential characters can be killed!

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 1

What's a writer to do? On the one hand, you want to repeat your public service message to always use condoms. But then there's that dramatic storyline thing. So even though Miranda had sex only two times, and a condom was used both times, her pregnancy test is positive!

And just when things were going well in other areas. Well, maybe not THAT well. She gets out of jail, tells Conejo if she ever gets out, Miranda will help her. She thinks her life here is over even though she wasn't found guilty, and is planning on returning to Mexico when she gets her passport back.

Good news: Yesi promises Mau she's totally forgotten about the nude picture of Miss Miranda. Bad news: She ALREADY sent it to Olivia, with a note "No es photoshop"! The good news: Mau has a plan. Alone with Olivia, he tells her he knows she's attracted to him, and that's why she hounded Miranda. Since she's only 24, they could have a legal relationship. He looks into her eyes, works his magic, and when he kisses her, she kisses back! Then he says "gotcha", I can report you, and she slaps him.

Later, she shows up at the trailer where he's staying, shows him the nude picture, and says, I'll throw out this picture and all the other evidence, if you just give "our love" a chance. I pretty sure Mau will say "deal"! (and later renege after she's destroyed the evidence :)

Bob takes Emily on a vacation so Benita can have Gonzo come home, giving him one last chance to reform. When he's not looking, she swipes one of the drug vials that say ++L, and puts it in her pocket. Dinner doesn't go well. Even though Gonzo half wants to change, it's just so uncool, and he has so much resentment, that he stalks off to his room.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 2

Leo follows Liz (or Eli) into the girls bathroom and hears her throw up. She admits it was because Gonzo said she was fat. Leo says she's perfect, slides his hand over her flat tummy, and there's a real connection. But both realize that if they were a couple, Gonzo would kill them both.

Santiago tells Ana he thinks Gil put drugs in his coffee. Ana says Gil would never go that far. Santi then thinks back, and says it could be Gonzo! Ana says, right, he did it once before, with Cassius. But they don't have proof.

Crazy Julia disappears, taking her and Santi's daughter (Bea or Vea) with her, requesting a "leave of absence" from teaching. Santi is livid, at first thinks Gilberto went away with her, since he's not at school today, either. But Gil shows up, with blood on his shirt. He got arrested last night for DUI. But don't worry, he tells Ana, he paid the $5,000 fine or bail with their joint credit card!

Patty is outraged that Miranda, after being found innocent, still lost her license. She tears into the gossipy kids, and tears into Ana. How can you take away Miranda's license, when she was innocent, and not punish Gilberto, who pleaded guilty to DUI!

Mau has another plan, to be come an emancipated minor. He pays Joaco for some advice on how to do this. He'll have to get a job, and it's not so easy. He secretly runs into Miranda in the park (she went to buy a pregnancy test kit), and she says, sorry Mau, it's over. It was crazy. We should never see each other again.

But when she gets home, there's that little plus sign on the pregnancy test!!!

I don't say it often enough, Hombre, but thanks.

Bob taking Emily on a trip so Benita can try to connect with Gonzo might be the most genuinely good-hearted and unselfish things I've seen on a show that's been fairly chock-full of selfish and/or obsessive acts. Not that Gonzo deserves it (I'm sorry, but these split-second bursts of remorse we get from him aren't working any more--especially since Max and Liz are stealing his thunder in that respect), but still.

By way of random observation: when, if ever, was the last time a telenovela galan (or even a messed-up one like Mauricio here) had three women mooning over him? Two is pretty much S.O.P., but three? (Olivia obviously is the odd gal out, since she's basically gone to the dark side to get her man, but Miranda and Yesenia are relatively clear--and, oddly, neither one of them has a decent long-term alternative. I guess the big question is what happens to Miranda's apparent pregnancy. If it survives, she's got to end up with Mau...or he's got to die, one of the two.)

Oh, and my usual refrain: Gilberto needs to be hit by a bus. Which then explodes.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - MARTES

Thanks, Jean. Great recap.

There is some mystery at the heart of the death of Nora, Willy's mother. The logical assumption would be that Bernardo killed her, either spiking her cocktail with all those pills that she "took" or bribing officials to say that was the cause of death.

The problem with the logical theory is that during one of Bernie and the reptile's little chats he confided that he had NOT been able to kill her mother, implying that he was sorely tempted. We'd think he was lying except for the fact that he's "sharing" with his daughter, the homocidal psychopath. She'd be more likely to appreciate a perfect crime.

Sam's box of Lucas mementoes was knocked to the floor and Willy saw the baby picture. Doubt very much she's going to own up just yet, but I wish she'd just tell him already!

Hombre, that's an interesting theory about Sol. The actress is doing such a good "dumb bunny" act that I had forgotten about her saying she wanted revenge.

Yep, Hombre, The Rat and The Reptile's plan of "mutually assured destruction" keeps our two protagonists alive and kicking.

CORAZON VALIENTE-

I must have missed when Sol swore revenge because I totally don't remember that. I also thought that Sol had seen the reptile at the office. If she does remember, why not go to the police and make a declaration, as they say, against the reptile. Oh, right, this is a novela.

I am sure that there is more to Nora's death than we know yet. It seemed like Willy accepted the servant's explanation, though. Bernie knew Willy was going to Mexico. He could have told the servant what to say.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

OK, I don't remember Sol swearing revenge either. I just took Hombre's word for it.

Maybe Hombre can fill us in on the circumstances when she said that.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

I could have sworn that last week, right after it was revealed that Sol was Gonzalo's sister, she said to herself something like "no one knows, but the reason I've come back is for revenge." But since I don't see it in any recaps, I could have dreamed it! If so, sorry about that :) I guess we should wait and see.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Too tired tonight. I'll post something tomorrow late morning CA time.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 1

Well, we finally understand the drug situation (maybe). Here's what I think:

1. The drugs that killed Rodrigo and the other kid way back were experimental drugs. They were somehow incomplete chemically, and could be fatal. Andres' company probably made them, although I'm not not how they filtered down to Indio or Oliver. Maybe Victor is releasing them unbeknownst to Andres.
2. Andres has now hired Ricardo and Patty to fill in the blank in the drug, which will end up with a super intelligence drug, allowing us to use "100% of our brains" (this is like a joke, we're already doing that, but popular myths always say we're only using 10%). I'm guessing Patty will find out that the current version is lethal.
3. The "perfectly legal" drug that has ++L on the vials is Adderall, which IS legal, although you need a prescription. It's used to calm down little kids with ADHD. But since it contains amphetamines, it's like speed for adults and maybe big kids. Leo sees Gonzo give Liz some, snatches it from Liz to protect her. Santi calls Leo and Gonzo into his office, dumps the backpacks, finds the Adderall and reports it to Ana. She tells Andres, who immediately lies, saying he took Leo to the doctor for that prescription today. Back home, Andres BEATS Leo savagely with his belt! He also pushes Nena away, yelling go to your room, woman!

Patty continues criticizing Ana for revoking Miranda's license, since she's doing nothing about Gil's DUI, which he has 2. Ana actually hasn't decided to revoke or not. I just love Ana Layevska in this part!

We find that Victor has hired Joaco as a chauffeur because his spotty past will make it easy to dump blame on him if something goes wrong (which it will).

Mauricio does NOT go along with Olivia's plan to destroy evidence if he "gives her a chance". So she takes the picture and shows it to Carmen, who I think shows it to Ana. This is not good. Carmen gives Olivia a hug of togetherness, but we see Olivia's evil smile. BTW, she's 5th billed in the credits now, a major character.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 2

Julia finally shows up with Bea. Why was she gone? Bea has a grave disease! (gimme a break).

Miranda calls her Mom about the pregnancy and her stomach pain. Her Mom says see a doctor. Afraid of her data getting out and wrecking her case, Miranda goes to "one of those" clinics who serve undocumented people and don't ask questions. At the same time, Lupe, Nora's Mom, says Nora should get birth control pills since she's sexually active. But since she's undocumented, they go to the same clinic. And Lupe sees Miranda across the room (Mir doesn't see her), prompting Nora to observe Miranda could be pregnant.

And she is, but in the EVIL clinic, everyone is prodding her to get an instant abortion ("you should do it tomorrow, it's cheaper. Or why not today? Here are some pamphlets with all the methods"). Of course being a good character in a telenovela, Miranda would never THINK of this. She pays a nurse to get her to jump ahead of 15 people and see the doctor, who tells her the baby took a blow from that kick, but is fighting, and if Miranda gets lots of rest (as if!), the baby and she can struggle to survive. This makes Miranda happy. In fact, she comes home glowing, even without Mau, she and the baby will start a new life. Bill, you may be right that Mau could end up killed, now that Miranda has Mau, Jr. on the way.

Speaking of Mau, JP pummels him again for causing Mau's problems. But resulta (it turns out) that if Mau doesn't get his scholarship, that will "prove" that Miranda wasn't helping him, only fooling around with him. Mau doesn't seem to be able to study too well on his own, so JP AGREES that Miranda can secretly tutor Mau again!!!! Miranda comes homes glowing, falls into JP's adoring arms, and JP opens the door to show Mau is in the house!

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS

Thanks for another of your great recaps, Hombre. I don't watch this show except little bits right after CV but I read your recaps. I so totally agreed that Ana Layevska is so great as Patty. What an interesting character and such a change from her psychotic villains in La Fantasma de Elena and Mi Corazon Insiste.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – MIÉRCOLES

Luis is all over Ángela, practically raping her standing up when Fernanda comes in and says they have work to do. She explains the problem with the guy the cops caught thanks to Génesis’s description to the police artist. He then starts undressing her, and I assume he’s ready to do the deed with Ángela right outside the door. But he tells her that’s what she needs to do with Marshall to get answers.

Sam lies to Willy about the box of baby stuff. She tells him it’s blue because her parents expected a boy and that the baby picture is of her.

Emma appears to take Nelly’s announcement that she and Pablo Peralta are novios pretty well. In fact she extravagantly congratulates them and takes a picture of them!

Bernardo tries to make nice with Perla about his horrible insensitive behavior of the day before. He puts his arms around her and Ofelia comes in looking shocked. [Hmmm. I thought she already knew about the two of them.] But Perla isn’t buying Bernie’s act and says he needs to do a lot more work to win her back.

Sam and Willy fall into bed with each other in Mexico. I just love these two together. He reminds her that this is the bed where the made love together, both virgins. He tells her he loved her madly and shows where he carved Sam te amo in the headboard. He even says I love you!

The Reptile calls Marshall at the cop shop and tells him suggestively that she wants him to come over. He drops his interrogation of the guy who ran into the vehicle that had Génesis and Pamela in it. What a guy! When we next see him, he’s handcuffed to the headboard! In the afterglow, she grills him. He tells her that JM offered the guy a lot of money to rat out who paid them for the crime.

Emma gets into bed with Pablo, after changing his dressing. She says she’s just there to make sure he’s ok. She wakes up later and finds him gone. He tells her he didn’t trust himself to sleep beside her. He doesn’t want anything to do with her, understandable after the rape thing. He also cites their class differences.

Sam and Willy don’t get much chance to enjoy their time in bed together. Some of Carreño’s thugs come to kill him in Mexico. There’s a big gunfight, which Sam and Willy naturally win. It looks like a servant may have been shot. Eugenia the DA is scared out of her wits and angrily tells Willy she’s taking a separate flight home. Willy says good riddance.

Génesis is in bed without her collar. The kid is just adorable. Ángela tells her she’s going to marry Violeta’s father because this is her dream.

The guy that Marshall stopped interrogating sends word that he’s ready to accept JM’s money, but when they go to the cell, he’s hung (either by himself or by someone else). I’m unclear who actually hired these guys. The Reptile seems to tell Vicente he screwed up. I thought Luis hired them. Don’t know.

We get some clue about Ofelia. Bernie says he could have thrown her in the street, but he gave her a job.

JM is very worried about Génesis. He doesn’t want her to go to school until the culprit is caught. He then tells Nelly and Pablo that he loves Ángela.

I don’t usually do this, but something happened that will develop tonight. Luis is snooping around in Fernanda’s bedroom and steals a fancy rosary. He gives it to Ángela as part of his campaign to win her over. We find out tonight that this was the rosary the Reptile took from Juan Marcos’ mother.

Sam takes Willy to Miguel’s grave in Mexico. The son of the dog that we saw at the hacienda where Sam was kidnapped is standing watch at the grave. [Corny, right?] Willy says they’ll take “Arturo” back on the plane.

Ángela tells JM about finding Violeta’s diary chock full of writings and drawings about her parents’ wedding. She says she’d live in hell forever rather than disappoint her daughter.

JM tells Ángela he will be waiting for her in his room that night to make love to her.

CORAZON VALIENTE-

Thanks for the great recap, Novelera. I'll do one tonight.

You wouldn't think a policeman would like to be handcuffed by his lover or maybe he would.

I did not understand at all how the bad guy in custody got hanged. I was hoping it was because I was cooking and not paying attention but if you couldn't figure it out either, then I'm sure it was just not clear whether the guy hanged himself or was hanged by someone else.

It doesn't take too much imagination to guess that the next thing that will put the brakes on JM's and Angela's next attempt at passion will be JM's discovery that Angela has his mother's rosary.

At least Willy told Sam about the threat against him. There's no reason she shouldn't tell him about the baby but I'm sure she won't for quite a while.

Corazon Valiente
Novelera, Jean, et al;
Thanks for the recaps and comments! Jean I also sometimes watch from the kitchen while doing chores and miss the dialogue.
A) I was waiting for Fern to slip a knife into poor Marshall when he was chained to the bed and said he was about to find out who the murderer was. Wanna bet this S$M scenario happens again later, and Fern does...well, what Fern does?
B) No spoiler here, but I keep noticing how Ofelia acts around Fern, taking her abuse, trying to help her, etc. What if Ofelia is actually Fern's mother?
:o) J in Oregon

Corazon Valiente
Oops I can't even spell S & M correctly!
I meant "S&M" scenario, not S$M.
J in Oregon can't spell!

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS

Excellent recap, Hombre. And thanks so much for the analysis of what's going down with the drugs. And for explaining that JP isn't really involved in the drug thing.

They seem to be hinting by showing conflicted looks on his face from time to time that Gonzalo is going to be redeemed. Personally, I can't stand him and want him to go down HARD!

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS:

Novelera, I also don't want to forgive Gonzalo. But I do recognize that this young actor is doing a great job of showing the energy and conflict of his complex character. As for someone who has more chance to be redeemed, I'm thinking of Leo, who was originally very mean to Cassius, Alejo and others, but recently has been more mature, trying to dissuade Gonzo, helping Liz, and maybe eventually standing up to his ogre of a father.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Gracias otra vez, novelera.

Génesis is indeed adorable. I'm glad they're not over-dramatizing her inability to walk (yet). I really liked the exchange b/w her and Peralta... so cute.

I hope Emma holds back a tad in her pursuit of Pablo. this could get really annoying if it continues much longer.

CORAZON VALIENTE:
Thanks so much for this week's recaps. I was happy to see Willy finally tell Sam that he loves her. I notice that she didn't point out to him that he said it. I was hoping that it would prompt her to tell him about the baby (now a teen boy). Oh well!

I'm not sure why the lawyer was so surprised and upset to learn that the mafioso she helped put away has a hit out on Willy. Duh!

That detective is an idiot. First he ignores all the other murders and attempts and focuses on the one JM and Anegla might have a motive for-- Isabel. Now he's sleeping with a potential suspect and blabbing things about the case! Jeez!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE- jueves Part 1

[I went crazy here while I waiting for a delivery}

Sam and Willy and the dog return to LA and to Bernie’s house. Willy tells his father about the attempt on their lives and the threats he is receiving. He agrees that he needs a bodyguard. Sam will stay with him until his new bodyguard arrives.

Ángela exercises Génesis’ legs and assures her that no matter what is going on with her body, she is the same person. Poor Violeta looks on while her mother devotes all her attention to Génesis.

JM tells Emma about his love for Ángela. Peralta tells JM that he wants to be Emma’s bodyguard again. Emma thanks him for choosing her and says that all that’s missing now is his deciding to love (querer) her. Peralta says that he loves her already.

Bernie comes to see Sam. He tells her that he knows about her baby and wants to help her find him.

As we predicted, Angie comes to JM’s room for some lovin’. As they start to undress, he finds the rosary.

Bernie refuses to tell Sam how he found out about her baby but she accepts his offer to help her find the kid and accepts her decision not to tell Willy about it.

JM tells Ángela that the rosary is his mother’s. It has her initials on the cross. She always had it with her but it wasn’t found after she was murdered. He demands to know where she got it. Ángela tells him that Luis gave it to her today.

Peralta asks how he could not love Emma. She is beautiful, fragile, defenseless... “Like a puppy or a little bird,” responds Emma saying that his feeling seems close to pity (lástima) and she hates pity. Peralta says that Nelly is a woman like him, simple and honest. “And healthy,” finishes Emma. Peralta says that he has had to work since he was 14 and now he wants to be with someone and Nelly makes him feel good (me hace bien). Emma replies that she must make him feel bad, then. Peralta says that they are speaking two different languages and leaves.

Ángela can’t believe that Luis could be a murderer. Sure, he’s done some bad stuff but the father of her child couldn’t have killed JM’s parents. And what would have been his motive for killing them anyway? JM replies that the motive was money. Ángela believes that the murders and attempts on Génesis’ life were motivated by emotion.

The Rat tells the Reptile that things are going well with Ángela. He followed her advice and gave Ángela a gift of jewelry. Jewelry that he stole from the Reptile. The Reptile tries to hit him and he grabs her and they fall on the bed and that is when Ofelia comes in after supposedly knocking on the door. She says that Inspector Marshall is there to see the Reptile and it is urgent.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - jueves Part 2

Sam tells Bernie what she found out in Valle de Bravo. He says that the best detective in LA owes him some favors. Sam asks why Bernie is doing this and he replies that he wants to help her realize her greatest desire and it is his grandson, after all.

In a weird scene that I guess was designed to give us information, Perla confesses to a priest that she brought Sam’s child to LA and put him in an orphanage. She visited him occasionally. Then one day she came and he had been placed in a foster home where he was later adopted. She is happy that finally her grandson had a family was was happy. [I’m betting we’ll find out that wasn’t the case and the kid isn’t a “niño feliz” but a “niño lleno de rencores” because otherwise this wouldn’t be a novela.] Perla tells the priest that the problem is that her daughter is obsessed with finding her child and she doesn’t know whether to tell her about what she did. The priest says that the truth will set you free but Perla discloses that she has kept lots of secrets from her daughter in particular the fact that her real father is Miguel Valdes.

JM tells Ángela to trust him and not say a word to Luis about the rosary and his suspicions.

Marshall has come to see the Reptile for more nookie but maybe he is not as corrupt as we thought. He tells the Reptile that the cat watching them makes him nervous. She tells him not to worry about it. She says that she found the cat wounded and starving, like she was, and she cared for it until he (she uses the masculine pronoun) doubled in size. Marshall is surprised that it is a male (macho) with a name like Lucy and the Reptile replies that it is a gato (the male form of cat). I’m not sure I understand what that was all about. The Reptile goes out to change into something more comfy and Marshall does something to the cat that makes it cry out. Then the Reptile appears in a slinky outfit with a mask, Marshall’s cell phone rings with a call from JM but he doesn’t take it.

JM tells Peralta not to let the Rat into the house.

Tiresome Violeta is still going on about her parents’ Church wedding and expresses jealousy of Génesis. Ángela reassures that she loves her as much as she loves Génesis.

The Rat is making nice with Estela telling her how much he loves Ángela and the great plans for their Church wedding. Estela asks how he plans to pay for all that. Ofelia makes a snide remark and when Estela is gone, the Rat warns her not open her mouth about what she saw. Ofelia responds that she only takes orders from the Reptile. The Rat says that he and the Reptile are of one mind on this.

Willy can’t sleep and comes down for some tea. Ofelia tells him that Sam and his father left the house together.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - jueves Part 3

Bernie and Sam are in bar with the detective. She tells him what she knows and he agrees to start work immediately. When Sam gets a call from Ángela on her cell phone and excuses herself, Bernie tells the detective to tell him what he finds first and he, Bernie, will tell Sam.

Marshall gets up in the middle of the night and does something with his cell phone. It looks like he takes a picture of the Reptile. Very weird.

Willy is jealous of why Sam went out the previous night with Bernie but of course, she won’t tell him what happened.

The police come to Bernie’s house and arrest Luis for the murders of JM’s parents. Everybody is impactados, the Reptile and Ofelia especially when JM reveals that it was the possession of his mother’s rosary that led to the arrest.

Sam calls Ángela and tells her that Luis was arrested. Willy quizzes Sam on where she went with his father. Sam says that they went out for a coffee. Further, Willy is just a client until her replacement arrives.

So now we see what Marshall was up to with the cat. He got a sample of it’s fur [with that kind of cat, he didn’t need to pull out any fur, it would have been everywhere]. He takes it to the lab and asks the technician to compare it to the animal hair that was found at the scene of Isabel’s murder.

The Reptile, Vincente and Bernie are discussing the situation of the Rat’s arrest. Bernie bows out saying that he warned her this would happen and he isn’t going to get involved. Vincente says that he will always help her and the Reptile asks him to get the best lawyer for the Rat without revealing that it is she who hired him. Ofelia bursts in to say that Sam’s dog is attacking Lucy.

At first the Rat refuses to make a statement without a lawyer present. Ángela calls JM while he is watching the interrogation and says that her daughter will never forgive him for having the Rat arrested. JM replies logically that the matter of the rosary has to be investigated. He is doing it for his parents, for her daughter and for her. Finally, the Rat tells Marshall that he will reveal the name of the person behind the killing of JM’s parents - it was JM himself who set this trap for him because JM is in love with his wife.

Willy’s new bodyguard is a no show. Sam doesn’t believe that he really hired a new bodyguard so that she would have to stick around. They hear a shot and Ofelia bursts in to say that the Reptile has killed Sam’s dog.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - jueves Part 4

Sol is visiting Emma. She tells Emma that she has a nice apartment thanks to her new “patrocinador,” literally a “sponsor” but here we would say a sugar daddy. She tells Emma that the sugar daddy is Bernando and Emma is shocked that she would be with an old guy. Sol protests that Bernie is rich and every dollar he spends on her makes him look better to her. Nelly comes in with coffee and Emma sows seeds of doubt in her about Peralta’s faithfulness since he is so attractive to women.

Ángela tells her mother that she can’t believe that Luis is a murderer. Estela is not so sure based on the Rat’s past and where is he getting all the money for the big Church wedding he is planning. Violeta overhears part of this and protests that her father isn’t a murderer.

Fortunately, the Reptile didn’t shoot Sam’s dog. She shot into the air. She says that Sam can’t understand how the Reptile feels about the cat because she doesn’t have children. Neither does the Reptile, of course, but she says that the cat is like her child. Sam asks if she was’t afraid to use a gun. No, replies the Reptile, while Vincente rolls his eyes, she is familiar with guns. She went hunting with her father when she was a girl. When they are alone, Vincente warns her about making admissions against interest, as we would say in the law biz.

Nelly tells Peralta that if he decides he does’t care about her anymore, to let her be the first to know. Peralta reassures her that he is not interested in Emma. [Famous last words.]

Sam tells Willy that she has never seen the Reptile behave like that. Willy says that his sister is strange and he is surrounded by strange women, like her, who lie to him. Sam says that she isn’t going to give him the details of her outing with Bernie. He asks if she did it to make him jealous. She replies, “Tú no eres el ombligo del mundo,” “You aren’t the belly button of the world.” Willy says that he is jealous, though. Sam says that she will be Willy lover, friend and bodyguard but that’s all. Willy says that he doesn’t understand why he wants to protect her. If she stays, he will try and figure it out. If she leaves, he will do everything he can to forget her.

The Rat continues to maintain that JM is after his woman and of course, JM makes himself look bad by trying to attack the Rat.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS, Part 1

Oh, those tricky writers. They teased us in the previews, showing Miranda telling Mau, the most important person in my life now is not you, not JP, but....(and we thought she'd say my baby) myself, and my freedom! Oh well, she doesn't tell him. But others suspect. Nora and her Mom wonder why Miranda was at that clinic. And Olivares has rented the house across the street from Miranda, to keep an eyes on things! He sifts through Miranda's trash, and finder the pregnancy test box. While Miranda is tutoring Mauricio (she grudgingly agreed to), JP goes across the street, and he and Oliveras pull guns on each other. Oliveras then shows him the pregnancy kit, saying someone in that house is pregnant, either the blonde or your novia!

The blonde (Patty) certainly isn't pregnant, but she shares a nice picnic with Joaco, and when he takes her in his arms, she thinks back to what the therapist said "go with the flow".

Olivia shows the picture of naked Miranda to Ana, saying not only is she abusing a child, but Miranda's an exhibitionist! This ignores the fact that Miranda was fast asleep, and Mau arranged the photo. Ana's caught between a rock and a hard place, Patty's pressuring her to back Miranda, Olivia and Carmen to can Miranda. In addition, she has her own problems.

Julia tells Santiago that Bea has "a congenital disease, that will require constant blood transfusions, or else she'll die by the age of 8". And why did Julia take all her luggage with her? "Needed some fresh air". I think Julia is a)nuts and b)lying, and the kids doesn't even have the disease. But Santi certainly believes it. He calls Ana to cry on her shoulder, but when Julia comes in, he neglects to press "end call", and Ana hears Julia beg him "Don't leave me alone now, when our daughter's condition is so precarious". Not exactly what Ana wanted to hear.

Gilberto is pouring himself a drink, complaining of Patty's threat to have his license revoked, when Teresa says "if you have 2 dui's, I agree with her". Yeah, says Gil, but I only drink because I'm depressed. And I'm only depressed because Ana is cheating on me. What a baby.

Leo asks Gonzalo didn't he give out all those weird drugs at the beach way back in episode one? And then Liz also had an overdose at a later party? (Leo may be the key to solving the whole mystery). But Gonzo shoots back, Man, I was so high I don't even remember, and stop buggin' me! Oh, and lay off my woman!

Yesi makes a romantic dinner for Mau, strawberries, flowers, candles, but Mau's very late after his tutoring session (which no one besides JP and Miranda know about). Carmen is suspicious. When Mau finally does show up, she says one day you'll thank me. He says, sometimes Mothers are wrong. He also tells her he's going to be on his own from now on. He had told Miranda that if he's declared "emancipated", he'd instantly be legal. We'll see.

RELACIONES PELIGROSAS Part 2

Mau also tells Miranda he may have misjudged JP, who is being so nice to her, paying her bail, etc. Maybe JP is okay (no, Mau, you were right, he's NOT okay!)

Nena wants to put lotion on Leo's red marks from his father's beating. She asks if those drugs were really from Gonzalo, and Leo's trying to protect Liz (both true). Leo denies all this, lying that the drugs were his.

Miranda doesn't trust Cortez totally, so she goes to her other lawyer (Jimenez?) the older guy, and admits she's pregnant. He tells her that's really bad for her case. If anyone finds out, not only would you go to jail, but they'd take the baby and put it in foster care! He suggests she find someone to pretend to be the father (hello, JP).

Mau suspects she's hiding something. She dreams of a cute little boy, but Mau taking the baby away from her! She has lots of stomach pains, and at the end of the episode she faints. JP carries her inside, and I'm guessing he's going to find out the truth soon.

The twists and turns continue!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE-

I guess the whole business with the Reptile going out guns blazing to protect her cat was for Sam and Willy to realize that she isn't just the poster child for too much plastic surgery. That way, when they finally become suspicious of her, they'll remember her admitting that she is familiar with guns.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Wow, gracias Jean for that very detailed recap.

I was wonderfully surprised with the Marshall/ cat hair scene. He's not as smitten as he looks then.

CORAZON VALIENTE-

If it turns out that Marshall let himself be seduced by the Reptile because he is suspicious of her, that is a nice change. Usually, it is women police and spies who are sent to seduce a bad guy. Is the only reason that the Reptile was interviewed by the police because Isabel rented the apartment from her? They don't know anything about the Reptile's obsession with JM, right?

CORAZÓN VALIENTE - JUEVES

Jean, excellent recap. You got it all! That was certainly an action packed episode. I was thinking: "Am I imagining it's Thursday?" That felt like a Friday episode.

The whole thing with Marshall was quite an interesting twist. When he first saw the cat, he acted like he had a phobia. And then I was wondering if he hated cats enough to hurt Lucy when he had his back to the camera and we heard her little cry. I don't know if the sight of the white cat was his first clue and turned him around, or if he was playing her from the start. And, yes, taking her picture while sleeping was very weird indeed. Oh, and if there were white cat hairs ata the crime scene, you'd think there would be some long human ones of a particularly ghastly shade of red.

Loved "poster child for too much plastic surgery".

You gotta hand it to the Rat, he's cool under fire. Coming up with JM framing him was an interesting strategy.

Perfect description: "tiresome Violeta". Something about her whiny little sing-song voice annoys the heck out of me. And, a child that age would likely have been fairly aware of the rotten treatment the Rat gave to Ángela when they were together. So her uncritical worship of her father doesn't work for me.

Bernie is definitely playing a double game with Sam. Maybe he wants to find the boy first and assure that Sam doesn't have any "impediments" to the relationship I believe he still wants with her. Or maybe he wants to somehow be the only blood relative in the kid's life.

I don't think Peralta is doing Nelly any favors. He's "settling for her" because he thinks Emma is an impossibility because of her class and, of course, her unstable behavior up to this point. But she's going to be hurt in the long run.

I was scared the Reptile really did shoot Arturo. I love German Shepherds and have owned several of them, so I was ready to jump into the TV and tear into her. And you are right, of course, that that scene with shooting was to give a tiny clue to Sam and Willy about her true nature.

GENERAL

I've said this mil veces... this is why I mostly prefer Telemundo novelas. for the most part, they're not as cliché as Univision.

GENERAL

Amen, Shallowgal! I jumped ship on Univisión also. I tried El Talismán, a truly awful thing for two weeks and returned gratefully to Telemundo. Not every novela is to my taste, of course, but usually one of the three evening novelas strikes my fancy.

Corazon Valiente:

Jean thanks for the great recap! I had too many distractions from hubby and baby last night to enjoy the show. I was glad that Marshall is still on the case and got some hair samples. Hard evidence is always good. I'm sure the rat will wiggle his way free for now and turn the tables to make JM look bad to Angela.

I'm surprised JM is so easy to share info with everyone. It is obvious that the assassin has an obsession with him and 9 time out of 10 it is someone close to you.

The cat seems to evoke a lot of emotion in everyone. Even Sol was traumatized by said cat. Wish they would have shown some of the scene with the cat/dog fight.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

It's hilarious that Lucy is a boy cat.

Detective Marshall already suspected Miranda because he knows how upset she was years ago when she lost her baby. He suspects she doesn't like JM, despite what she says. I think he's cagier than we thought.

Yes, since Bernardo told the detective to report to him first, he's unlikely to tell Sam the truth.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Hombre - ooh yes - I like that word 'cagey.' I didn't like him in El Clon, but after last night, Marshall may be redeemed in my eyes.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

I was also happy to see that the Marshall is not as stupid as we thought and has his eye on Fernanda. Poor Lucy had a rough night though. First we find out the poor guy is stuck with a girl's name. Then he get's plucked by the cop, and then terrorized by the dog. I laughed out loud when Fern came in with the dirty cat with leaves stuck in its fur. LOL!

I was frustrated with Angela being protective of the Rat. SHE should be aking how did he get that rosary. She also knows full well he's threatened violence if she leaves him for JM. Why would she want her daughter to grow up around and idolize a man like that?

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Hombre, I thought Fer said Lucy was a female, but she used the word gato which is masculine for a cat in general. When Marshall thought Lucy was a boy, I thought she corrected his grammar, saying "Gato, with lots of emphasis, as if, duh, gato is a masculine word for cats in general.

In case I'm wrong, not an unusual happening, someone else would need to review the Lucy conversation because I delete my episodes off the DVR as soon as they're watched.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Maybe Luci is short for Lucifer? ;-)

Corazon:

Novelera - I think you got it right about the cat conversation. That's pretty much how I interpreted it.

Vivi - Lucifer! LOL!

CORAZÓN VALIENTE-

OK, here is the cat dialog.

The Reptile tells Marshall about how she found the cat, mistreated, injured and starving. She healed its injuries and fed it. She uses masculine adjectives. Then she says,

"El me devolvió el doble de lo que yo dí."
"¿El? ¿Es macho?" asks Marshall.
"Gato," replies the Reptile firmly.

Presumably, there must be some point in the cat having a feminine name but being a male cat. Maybe Vivi is right and Lucy is short for Lucifer.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

OK, Lucy is a boy!

Jean, you need a rest after today's recap!

I'll do one for tonight's. But, as usual it won't be up that early on Saturday.

Corazon Valiente
Okay I hope the writers let Lucy live.
It would be cool if one of the two little girls adopted him/her at the end.
Also, I am surprised that the cold-blooded reptile didn't shoot to kill when a strange dog was threatening her beloved Lucy. She has no trouble at all killing off people who annoy her.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

I also thought the Reptile called Lucy her "hijo". I wonder if there's some connection to the child she lost.
