Abismo de pasión #98 7/30/12

Where's my nerfazo order? I was having TdA flashbacks tonight. A whole lot of garbled speech and a whole lot of nothin' happening.

Gab visits his buddy Horacio in the hoosegow and Horacio threatens to spill his guts about Gab. Gab makes lewd hints about the lonely Lolita. Padre arrives and Horacio sings like a bird...at least about the Blanca business. It doesn't matter how much Padre thinks Carmina had something to do with Augusto's death, Horacio ain't talking about that. He wants to protect Lolita...and he's terrified of Carmina.

Doc Ernesto of La Que No Podia Amar fame has an evil twin and he works in the DF! He's also that friend of Paolo's who was going to help them out...for a price. Turns out this Doc is going to help Flor fake ultrasounds throughout her pregnancy. He will just use a DVD from women who are really pregnant . Even better, he has a friend in the business of botargas (basically stuffing...a fake baby bump) and this friend can hook Flor up with one every time she goes to the doctor. Dam will totally fall for the ruse! She needs to be fitted, though. She'll use wedding dress shopping as an excuse to get away.

Uh oh! Dam has other plans. He doesn't want a big Alfonsina production church wedding. He wants to get married at the registro civil TODAY! Flor thinks fast and tells him she wants to buy a new dress and get him a suit. Whew! Bullet dodged and botarga fitting is a go!! While she gets fitted, Dam gets a second opinion. Since he's carrying around an ultrasound picture from a real pregnant lady, the pregnancy is confirmed and Dam is a believer.

Elisa and Lucio make plans to finish up the paperwork in regards to the money "Augusto" left her. Lucio warns Elisa not to talk to Carmina about it. Elisa and Carmina later discuss the "sale" of Cielo Abierto. The check is no where to be found and there is no record of a deposit. If the money shows up, Carmina says she'll be in charge of it. Elisa suggests perhaps Gab never even handed over a check.

Carmina confronts Gab and is pithed he had Horacio thrown in jail. Horacio could turn them in! Gab wonders what Horacio has on HER! Carmina changes the subject to the check. Gab shows her the contract with "Augusto's" signature and tells her to come up with the money. He threatens to reveal everything to Elisa. He summarizes the episodes leading up to Augusto's death..

Elisa and Lucio are glad Elisa can get the Alfonsina monkey off her back. Lucio confirms that Gab can only get half of Cielo Abierto.

Dam and Flor stand before the justice of the peace(?) She totally says "Acepto." Dam pauses dramatically.

Other happenings

  • Fina visits Padre and finds out Dam cancelled the church wedding. She remembers when Lupe always supported her. He remembers when she wasn't such a beyotch.
  • Elisa visits witch mountain and wants to know why Ramona told her that her life was going to change completely on the exact day her dad died. Ramona says she never expected Augie to die and Elisa wants to know what Ramona meant. Since Ramona has sworn not to tell the truth until the ultimas semanas, she says nothing to Elisa. Elisa leave the now repaired amulet on the table.
  • Padre Lupe is getting transferred muy lejos de La Ermita.

Comments:
Sara - Thanks for the recap. Muy rapido! I didn't think much happened tonight, either, and was relieved to see at least one other person had the same thought. Horacio's confession was the most action we saw.

Favorite snarky line that made me snort: "She remembers when Lupe always supported her. He remembers when she wasn't such a beyotch."

Ah, well, at least the men's synchronized diving (Olympics) finished up before this came on! Mexico took a silver. Bien hecho y felicitaciones a Mexico!

Oh Doris, I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who thought that either!

I hate these types of episodes, but I expect we are in the filler stage of this one, so we may see more. Most of the dialogue was simply summaries of action we've already seen. YAWN.

PS: I don't think I've ever told you how much a love the cutie patootie doggie in your avatar. Or maybe I have.

Thanks for the recap Sara. You are right not a lot did happen and the writers trying to pretend the Horacio would talk. I so hate the Dam might discover Flo's lie fake-out...more filler. And more evidence for when the anvil finally hits Flo for all her scheming.

Is there any way that Gabino's lie can be discovered? I mean they showed him being dumb enough to throw in the trash his practicing Augusto's signature for a reason, right? And Carmina likes money and in spite of Gab's threats I don't see her giving up cash easily.

And Sara ... nails it! Another fun, zippy recap of a not so zippy episode. The nerfazo factory is having trouble keeping up with the increasing demand. You did send me your credit card number, right?

Favorite Saraism:
"Since Ramona has sworn not to tell the truth until the ultimas semanas, she says nothing to Elisa."

Since the avances hint at an anvil shower over Alfie's house, maybe the "She remembers when Lupe always supported her. He remembers when she wasn't such a beyotch" scene was trying to soften us up so we CARE about the anvils.

BTW, I agree with Doris, that sentence is a lovely thing.

Karen: Many thanks! I'm not a fan of filler.

I especially dislike filler on this production because there is actually a little bit of quality and has less of that "circo" ambience...which makes snarky recaps so easy. What's a poor recapper to do when costuming is somewhat decent and the acting really isn't so bad.

I've pretty much worn out all my boobie and tirabuzones jokes.

NovelaMaven: Amiga, you know how much I appreciate your support!

I really thought I had sent you that card number. Hmmm.

Surely it is too early for *those* anvils to fall? Will Fina really not make it to the end??

And speaking of lovely sentences, Ramona said a mouthful with this conditional contrary to fact:

Te juro por dios -- si yo hubiera sabido que tu papá se iba a morir, yo habría hecho hasta lo imposible para evitarlo.
(I swear to God -- If I had known/If I had any inkling that your dad was going to die, I would have done anything to prevent it.)

Part 1: Si yo hubiera sabido ...
Imperfect subjunctive of 'haber' + past participle of saber-->Pluperfect subjunctive
"If I had known" [but I didn't]

Part 2: ...yo habría hecho ...
Conditional of 'haber' + past participle of 'hacer' -->Perfect conditional
"I would have done...[but I didn't]

Ok, it shouldn't surprise anyone that I love sentences like this with their lovely rhythm --

Si tú fueras X, yo sería Y.

Si hubieramos hecho X, no habría pasado Y.

Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to let that one escape without a NERD ALERT. Also, Spanish teachers, feel free to correct. But please use your indoor voices.

Sara

Surely it is too early for *those* anvils to fall? Will Fina really not make it to the end??

Well they have toyed with us before with misleading previews. But I didn't think they were going to bump off Augusto either.

squee! Advanced grammar! It's been so long (sayeth the lowly teacher of Spanish 1--I'm so tired of present indicative I could scream. Our curriculum doesn't even *touch* the preterit in first year.)

I love your educational posts. :-)

Too bad Ramona didn't respond:

Pero ahora sí lo sé y te voy a decir toda la verdad!!!! No voy a tardar ni un momentito más! No puedo aguantar otra tragedia. Y La Naranja esa es una *BLEEP*

OH! NovelaMaven!
I put it in my notes, but forgot:

Padre Lupe actually told Fina that the fact that Gab is a slime-ball delinquent should concern her. Didn't you want Brau to say that to her???

Yes, Sara, I did. Thanks for reminding me.

It needed saying so I'm happy Lupe said it. (Too bad he didn't slap her but that may be asking too much.)

Sara,

Did you happen to notice the third person imperative (which I like to think of as the "Let them eat cake" imperative and which is really just a present subjunctive in disguise) that Gabino dropped on the lying piece of Orange???

¡Que te crea tu abuela!
(Tell it to your grandma!)

Thanks Sara! Boy, you're right. A whole lot of nothing last night. After watching Refugio, this really was boring. I guess the wedding was supposed to be a big deal, but it sort of just fell flat to me.

"Since Ramona has sworn not to tell the truth until the ultimas semanas, she says nothing to Elisa"
. I love Ramona, and being she still blames herself for Augusto since she opened her mouth last time, it will be the 2nd to last episode I'm sure before she utters another "truth".

They wouldn't dare take my Padre out of town, even for a short period until the "Ultimates". The writers are aiming for an anvil if they do that.

Love the snark in this recap!

The wedding is only a big deal because it's the cliffhanger of the episode. We're left wondering whether Damian will bail at the last minute.

Our Padre can't be taken away from us. He needs to stay, but before that happens he needs to find out what the TangelHo has been up to.

Why is Elisa even still speaking to her?

Sara, short, sweet and succulent. Yes, Horacio and Padre were the crux of this episode: "...Horacio ain't talking about that. He wants to protect Lolita...and he's terrified of Carmina". As well he should be.

Thank you for the embedded vocabulary "botargas" was excellent. Along with the line Doris cited, "Doc Ernesto of La Que No Podia Amar fame has an evil twin and he works in the DF!" was my favorite line. I did a double take at first, thinking this may be a crossover character but that hope diminished as soon as he spoke.

Karen, Gabino made a bad move to threaten Carmina. As we've seen in the past, she does not take kindly to threats (multiple murders back up that theory)!

NovelaMaven: "The nerfazo factory is having trouble keeping up with the increasing demand. You did send me your credit card number, right?" had me chuckling out loud.

Please writers, don't reassign the good padre. He's the only one (besides Ramona) with a clue. With time (and assurances of Lolita's safety), he's the only one who will be able to get Horacio to admit the truth about Augusto's murder.

Diana

T-shirt alert: "Y La Naranja esa es una *BLEEP*" -- I want one!

On the back it can say, "¡¡que te crea tu abuela, *BLEEPITA*!!"

Blue, NovelaM, totally agree on one of our fav moments/lines from last night...'ay Carmina! que te crea tu abuela!'...
so fun to watch those two go at each other's strings...
Carmina knows of Gabino ordering Horacio to kill Lucio ...
Gabino SUSPECTS of Carmina killing Kenya and Augusto both but he has no proof...
Horacio knows all of those and participated in all... yikes!
but he won't tell Padre about witnessing Carmina killing Augusto (or did he? legally, maybe not).

another fav scene last night was the Loopy/Alfie confrontation.. priceless!

and Gael's face when Loopy told him the letter was a transfer for him to another church/town ...

So!... that is why the price for the 'baby miracle' plan... complete with showing Dam Sabrina's ultrasound, the 'fake' belly pads, and the fake pregnancy 'fetal age' reports. No wonder Flo's surprise when Paolo showed her the invoice... pretty ellaborate plan.
Dam went one step to get a 2nd opinion but he should not have brought the films from the prev one. he should have MADE Flo go with him to the other doctor and repeated the ultrasound as requirement to get married...boy his face at that ceremony in the end was like he would rather be shredded over by a lawnmower than sign the paper... but he is too dumb. both him and Rod in Refugio are proving they don't have all their brain cells in active mode.

Sara: Thank you for the concise snarky recap of an episode of not much.

Well, Dam did do a little homework. He gets a second consult with a fake DVD. Why not bring Florencia along? No can do. This is Novelaland.

Florencia is so happy to get any kind of crumbs. She is most believable, but, we also know that she has ulterior motives. It seems that the lineup of those who make claims or who want to get their hands onto the Arango fortune keeps getting longer.

Just one thing to say: Damián, if it doesn't feel right, don't do it.

Also - NM - great grammar essentials.

Thanks Sara! Always a joy.

I haven't watched this one yet, but it sounds like it is filled with the storyline that so upsets my stomach: the fake pregnancy. If it isn't Elisa bawling (my 2nd most upset stomach plot) through the whole episode, it's this. Can't we go back to the kids swimming in the cenote?

NM- gracias por la leccion de subjuntivo. Love your X and Y. It is beautiful.

Blue - I like your tee shirt order. I was hoping for a 50 SHADES OF ORANGE one. Then we could list all of our Carmina/Orange names on it. Certainly we've had at least 50.

You're so right Marta on Rod and Dam--two peas in a pod. They have those moments when you think just maybe the brain cells will start firing, and then they go back to Stooopid mode.

Now our little Spunkette seems to think she has all this figured out--but I think she's forgetting on important fact. They will be Married!! Which USUALLY means same bed. So how is she going to work those pregnancy pads 100% of the time? Still think she's going to have to pull a bed-rest, don't touch me scenario at some point. Will Dam Stoopid go the Rosendo route and let his eye start to wander, whether it's back to Elisa or someone else, and be a married man?? (I'm betting he goes thru with the nuptials.) That would be an interesting replay of history.

Thanks everyone!

This fake pregnancy plan is crazy. Crazy stoopid. I can't believe Flor is going to pull this off.

Daisy, when this same plotline was going on in Glee, she just feigned exhaustion, queasiness or preoccupation as a way to distance herself from those wifely duties. (They work, btw.)

Thanks so much Sara. Your snappy recap spiced up a slow episode.

I don't think Dam will WANT to touch Flor after they're married a few months, so she'll be home free.

Who else thinks that Carmina will somehow find out about the money before Elisa pays off Alfie and snatch it somehow? I want Elisa to leave all the paperwork at Lucio's so that sneaky Carmeany can't find it.

I did enjoy her stalemate confrontation with Gabino. Those two have so much dirt on each other. I wish Horacio would put his head together with some of the good guys to figure out how to neutralize Carmeany and Gab, AND keep Lolita safe. Make Padre bring Elisa, Lucio, Ramona, Dam and Gael to the jail and tell them all at the same time. Surely, together they could figure something out. I do understand his fears for Lolita with both Carmeany and Gab on the loose with easy access to Lolita.

RlaO- Nice new pic. Who's in the photo with you?

What with the t-shirts and the nerfazos and the lanchanerfazos, we'll be making out like bandits before it's all over.

R la O, Sara, Daisy and all those concerned about how the fake pregnancy plan could possibly work --
I reiterate my beanie-free, post Kool-aid drinking stance:

I do believe in fairies, I do believe in fairies, I do believe in fairies ...

[Of course if I didn't, I'd be very curious about how they were going go fool Dam during the far too many ultrasounds they seem to be planning. I guess these top of the line botargas aren't just panzas de peluche -- they must be covered with a skin-like sculptural surface, bellybutton and all.].

Everyone! Do you believe in fairies? Clap! Clap if you believe!!!

Well since Doc Tovar can perform any surgery known to man it seems, I'm sure they will get just as creative on how the ultrasounds are going to work, etc. Emilia may have to start working on new beanies for some of us since our current ones are sure to implode.
On the side, I like the actor playing the paid-off doc. Dang, he has to be a smuck in this TN.

What we learned last night:

We learned Lupe & Alfonsina were very close as children.

Elisa learned Carmina is shady, indeed.

Carmina learned Horacio was in the carcel & Gabino is the one who turned him in.

Lupe learned Horacio is keeping his mouth shut to protect Lolita.

Florencia learned she's about to pull it off.

Lupe & Gael learned his transfer papers have been put in.

Sara..I love these succinct recaps. My old editor, Uncle Ben, used to tell me, "Judy, Mrs. McGillicutty and Mrs. McManus are tired. Give 'em a punchy first paragraph and keep it short. I quickly gave up my dreams of being a New York Times type writer.

And I am waaay tired today, so your recap was perfect.

Even in my dozy state tho', I appreciate your grammar lesson NM, and you brought back my favorite line, "¡Que te crea tu abuela!"

Lord, shoot me now but I still love Gabino. He's bad. He's a slime. He's lower than low. BUT HE'S SOOOOO FINE. I enjoyed every single, wretched second of his scene with Carmina. Why can she not see his sleazy charm?! Who could possibly prefer doltish Augusto to this fine, fine belly crawling gutter dweller?! Ah well, just leave him to me and Cynderella, you Orange Fool.G'wan now.

Vivi: De acuerdo. I might have to give up on this one if Carmina gets her hands on that money. It's just more Arango money from the Arango money pit.

Sara, thanks for the Tinkerbelle clip. For a while, pretty, puckish Kenia, QEPD,was kind of the Tink in the story. I guess we didn't clap loud enough. Sigh.

JudyB, Pasofino, R la O and Sara, I'm glad you didn't find the grammar too obnoxious. It's just that I really AM a sucker for the imperfect subjunctive. There are so many songs that begin --

Si pudiera (detener el tiempo / olvidarte)
[If I could -- but I can't]

Then:

lo haría / el mundo sería
[then I/it would -- but it's not]

Another vocab note:

Alfonsina recalls that she and Lupe were "unidos" as kids.

The is the same word as in "Estados Unidos". But Alfie uses it to mean "close", not "united".

I was struck by that because I remember the first time I heard someone use the word that way "in the wild" and it took me a moment to process.

I was curious to see what Google translator would make of the phrase "Eramos unidos". Guess what? It got it right: "We were close."

Ooo! OOO! Your grammar note reminded me of this song

si me hubieras dicho que era, aquel nuestro último beso...todavía estaría besandote...

*sigh* So romantic.

JudyB- thank you for the kind words and the advice from Uncle Ben. Very soon it will be back to work for me and my free time will be cut short. I worried that the shorter recap would be disappointing. I'm glad I haven't let people down. I probably get a little more anxious about my recaps than I should.

JudyB, let me echo Sara's thanks for sharing a lesson that was probably painful in the learning:

My old editor, Uncle Ben, used to tell me, "Judy, Mrs. McGillicutty and Mrs. McManus are tired. Give 'em a punchy first paragraph and keep it short.

Sidebar material, don't you think?

Sara, That IS a lovely song. See what you can do with an imperfect subjunctive and a little schmaltz?

See what you can do with an imperfect subjunctive and a little schmaltz?
-----
I really need to keep a list of great comments. This one had me laughing loud enough to scare the cats. This is t-shirt material.

Yes, I DO believe in fairies and am clapping as ordered. I also believe in the power of KoolAid as a gf of mine got pg on Grape KoolAid and Vodka in high school. Or maybe it was the power of the vodka.

Vivi - That is mi hija in the picture with me. Sweetest little gal ever!

Sara, Nice recap of a STOOPID epi. I hate the FAKE<FAKE<FAKE preggers plot.

Novela Maven, CEO of Vegan Nerfazos, you have my sympathies. Given the imbecility of the AdP plot I am sure the Nerfazo factory IS overwhelmed.

Do you need to hire more employees? Perhaps you could hire Braulio. He is easy on the eyes and seems to be good at running a production operation. I do not wish to add to the pressure you may already be feeling, but am in need of nerfazo tomatoes ASAP.

A tiny suggestion? I wouldn't mind if Braulio was photographed with my case of nerfazos, as well, just to further add to their value, you know.

Daisynjay:If they take my boyfriend Lupe out of town, I am going to be really mad.

Sara and NM: 'Sara,

Did you happen to notice the third person imperative (which I like to think of as the "Let them eat cake" imperative and which is really just a present subjunctive in disguise) that Gabino dropped on the lying piece of Orange???

¡Que te crea tu abuela!
(Tell it to your grandma!)'

You two are making my day with this grammar talk. I can barely grock what you are saying. But I will get out my old Spanish grammar for Dummies books with a smile and endeavor to remember/understand of just what you speak. Yeah!

Now, do carry on. I am going back to eavesdropping on your marvelous conversation.

EJ

This is nice. Again, I wish that I could do a short recap.

Sara:

I not only believe in Faeries, I know several personally. Faeries are the people who spill coffee on the floor and do not clean it up; they leave midnight snacks on the counter overnight.

The faeries are not known for keeping a pristine house; period. Really, if ever anything is forgotten, or missed out, or left undone, or mischief is made, just blame it on the faeries. Why take personal responsibility when you have the little people to blame?

LOL.

EJ

Oh yes, NM -- and remember the theme song from CME?

"Si pudiera bajarte
un estrella del cielo
Lo haría sin pensarlo dos veces
porque te quierooooooo..."

Yum.

Oh yes, deelish, Blue Lass.

I like this one of Marco Antonio Solís:

"Si te pudiera mentir
te diría que aquí
todo va marchando muy bien.
Pero no es así."

(If I could lie to you, I'd tell you that everything was going well here. But it isn't so.)

EJ, I'd be glad to see Braulio for a ... um ... an interview, that's it, an interview. :)

Just noticed that Francisco Gattorno was born in '64. Happily pouring age-appropriate adult drinks over at the Braulio table...Cuba Libre, anyone?

"I worried that the shorter recap would be disappointing."
Sara - your bulleted recaps are much appreciated by MEE! I am usually short on time and miss a lot of good snarky comments in the lengthy recaps, which I completely appreciate, but the brief bulleted ones work the best for me.

* * *

I'll be out of town the rest of this week, missing these wonderful(not!) filler episodes, and reading recaps on the iPad y iPhone.

Again, I so truly, dearly appreciate ALL our faithful recappers of Passion Pit. :-)

I don't see how Fr. Lupe can disobey his bishop. Well he could but he would be suspended from his priestly functions. The only way for him to remain in his parish would be for him to argue that what Carmina told the bishop is untrue. Right now all the evil ones seem to have the upper hand.

EJ, NM, BL

I am just laughing like crazy over here. From mischievous fairies, to "interviews" to age appropriate Cuba Libres. hahahaha!!!!!!

Doris-Be safe in your travels and have fun!

RlaO- I think you've had her in a profile pic before. Just as beautiful as her mama.

R la O--Your hija is GUAPÍSIMA!!!!!!

Ah shucks Vivi, thank you.

Braulio born in '64? That's only 5 years younger and definitely "do-able". I will have a Cuba Libra to go with His Age-Appropriate Hotness.

And thank you, too, Sara. We were in a cathedral so there you have a picture of me in a church for the first time in muchos años. The priest was no Padre Lupe, but it was entertaining watching him walk pie-eyed down the aisle to officiate the wedding.

@NovelaMaven, Sara and Blue...that's what we need...Spanish profs who can make imperfect subjunctives sexy!...or romantic...whatever works.

As a self-taught Spanish understander (terrible at speaking) I yearn to be able to throw imperfect subjunctives around but it ain't happening. Hell, I can barely remember how to say "pasado mañana". When you learn from telenovelas, you end up being able to say "que haces aqui" and "suelteme" and not much else. Oh well, it's still a fun ride.

@Rosemary la Otra...your daughter is more than guapissima..she's radiant. Her beauty shines right off the page. Bien hecho.

PS Vicente Fernandez is great but he has trouble staying on key. Him and Pablo Montero. Terrific timbre to the voice.... but ouch! doesn't anybody notice and try and correct that?

Anon4:10 said:

I refer you to incontrovertible law of telenovelas #5:

The bad guys will be in the ascendancy almost to the last episode.

It frustrates the stew out of me!

I can't wait for tonight's episode. I hope Padre Lupe *does* remain in La Ermita.

I yearn to be able to throw imperfect subjunctives around but it ain't happening.
---
PLease don't think *I'm* running around with imperfect subjunctives rolling off my tongue, either. Despite my profession, I find speaking to be the hardest thing to conquer.

Ah well, that consoles me a little bit Sara. I determinedly chat with a sweet Columbian student after exercise class, but she's fluent in English so it's only the goodness of her heart that lets her endure the turgid, hesitant pace of my español.

And heck! I LOVE the present indicative, although I do sprinkle in preterits and imperfects when I'm feeling sassy. Even a subjunctive here and there. But subjunctive imperfects...nevah!

Thanks, Judy! Shall we have Charlotte spin that "radiant" comment on her web? You guys are too sweet.

I was watching Sal y Pimiento and they were saying Blanca Soto, Fernando Colunga and our Ludwika are in a new tn. Do we know if it will be on Uni? Or when?

Haha! My word ver: lesquee. That must be French for our El Squee.

Le Squee!!!!

... Blanca Soto, Fernando Colunga and our Ludwika are in a new tn. Do we know if it will be on Uni? Or when?

*runs off to investigate....*

(Tho I am lukewarm on Blanca)

OT RESULTS
Source

Hmmm. It appears it will be called "Porque El Amor Manda." The cast was just confirmed on July 24th. I would assume we'll get Cachito del Cielo before this one since Porque el Amor doesn't even start in Mexico until October.

R la O, I definitely think Braulio needs one of us on each arm. :D

Maybe he can be OUR birthday present?

1. Yo no soy profesora, yo no soy profesora ...♪♪

2. My spoken Spanish is much like my spoken English -- awkward, halting and convoluted. I embrace the subjunctive as the mode of the imagination and the imperfect subjunctive in particular as the expression of what might have been but is now no longer possible.

3. Too bad there's just one Braulio to go around -- and I believe Dolores has dibs on him. :-)

I'm sorry; there is now a Blue Lass & R la O Birthday Table, and on August 8th we get WHATEVER WE WANT.

I'll have the age appropriate cabana boys start peeling grapes. ;-)

Cara Sara, investigatrix extraordinaire:
What are we going to get next in the 9:00 PM timeslot? I wonder what Blanca can do with Fernando Colunga?

Amor Bravio went to 10 PM, so I'll probably tape it and watch it once in awhile as I ADORE Silvia but 10 is so late for me to recap! Ay yi yi.

Wonder what Cap'n Sylvia's crew will end up with?

Note: NM, I am going to say nice things about you below!

It seems our Novela Maven may be the uncrowned grammar queen or at least one of the our Spanish grammar Crown princesses. You, Sara and Blue and Judy all seem to follow her conversations into the perfect conditional. I can follow her conversations ABOUT the perfect conditional, but have to guess at the perfect conditional tense when confronted by the thing itself.

But I love learning and being pushed to learn a little more. The best thing about the extensions in telenovelas is that the TNs become so boring that we recappers historically have been more creative in our writing.

Now, moving to shorter recaps I see a lot of opportunity for more creativity in our comments.

Here is where I can see myself learning a great deal from those of you who know Español much better than I. Thanks to all for sharing.

Kind Regards,

EJ

And hand them these peacock-feather fans, will you? I get so homesick for Fresno...

You got it, Chica! I can understand your melancholy. Fresno is such a lovely place full of belt buckles and brothels.

Ladies and Gents who long for Fresno:

It is 103*F, in the shade, in Fresno right now.

Which part of Fresno do you long for? Perhaps you might join me in longing to be with our Cap'n Sylvia, somewhere in Hawaii.

EJ

EJ, it was just the whole, you know, zeitgeist.
