Amor Bravío #14 (Uni 9) Thu 8/23/12 Amor (o al menos deseo) a primera vista
Labels: bravio
RL stuff: didn't get cast from last week's callback, but I did have another audition yesterday. It's that season again for commercial and TV auditions. I wish they'd call me for some role where they need a smartass...I could totally snag something like that :D
And he's not even passing the damn bus, so apparently his car's engine isn't performing any better than his penis.
He tries to accuse Camila of being some kind of depraved nympho for actually wanting to have sex in this decade.
May the smartass role turn up!
I'd gladly hand Daniel the soap and stand outside the shower with the towel.
Sue, the obvious product placement would probably render viewers borrachos before the middle of the episode. I hate these things, but it's better than having the brand name covered with duct tape, like they used to do in US soaps.
I wonder when Ximeana will turn up again.
That said, speaking of the Kia Alonso...the unconventional attractiveness I don't have a problem with (I can kind of see the evil Tony Randall thing now), but if he's supposed to be Daniel/Andres/Edmond's competition for Camila--and there isn't another alternative, unless you count Rafael the writer--why did the show make him this much of an jerk up front? Isn't that directly opposite to the usual pattern, where the galan's evil rival is usually charming and only privately a jerk until later in the show?
(Except, of course, when it's...Ariel Lopez Padilla!)
And based on the lack of mentions of any sort of funeral for Miriam (unless I missed one while channelsurfing), plus the mentions of her inheriting La Malquerida if Daniel's "dead," it appears that Miriam's still alive, coma status optional. As said before she's not vital to the story right now, though I am definitely having a Mariana/ElTal flashback thanks to this.
Daniel will have to work shirtless at La Malquerida - you know, he'll be a fieldhand - not much need for a computer geek at the ranch.
Among my favorite Kat gems this time:
"so apparently his car's engine isn't performing any better than his penis"
"We all need to keep a close eye on this Andres person. Who knows what he could be hiding behind that handsome face and those rippling pecs, not to mention inside those tight jeans. I'm just saying. Better safe than sorry."
And I love your referring to him as Daniel de Monte Cristo.
It looks as if Natalia may complicate the Daniel/Camila relationship. She certainly seems to have the hots for him. And why not?
As for competition for Camila, I'm wondering whether Rene Strickler will be added to the mix? He's supposedly in this TN, but he hasn't yet made an appearance except in the opening credits.
Pasofino, you say there's no need for a computer geek at La Malquerida, but I'm not so sure. Alonso obviously keeps a lot of damning stuff on his computer, and someone with Daniel's skills could be extremely useful in accessing it.
We learned Leoncio's niece & the boy next door will have a love story that will inevitably be cut out of the DVD set.
We learned we'd love to give Daniel some TLC to heal his busted leg...shirtless of course
We learned Viviana takes pictures of studs, so there should soon be a roll of D'Andres in her darkroom soon. Maybe she can give that picture to Camila, too.
Don Daniel's lawyer learned Alonso is anxious to declare everyone dead so he...er, Camila can get her hands on the ranch.
We learned the only ID D'Andres needs is a cute face and a slammin' bod.
We learned Camila has a sad about not having sex...although I don't see why she'd want to have sex with someone who is about as appealing as a sea urchin
Abraham learned Daniel never knew about Miriam's life insurance policy
Dante learned Abraham doesn't give a rat's @$$ if Daniel didn't know, he wants Dan put away for good.
Camila learned Al-No-No only went to the therapist once.
D'Andres learned the cute sunflower girl in the cafe is the one who ruined his life.
This is the second show I've seen Silvia Navarro in where her character does not have sex with her husband and is enchanted by a stranger with an assumed identity.
Fabulous recap. Thank you for the mentions of Dan/Andres' hunkiness. I had all kinds of lascivious thoughts when that fisherman caught him in his net and dragged him ashore (poor little fisherman could barely carry the big guy). You just know he sweet little grandma kept the hot mer-man shirtless the whole time she nursed him back to health for no reason.
1. "Thank you, God!"
2. "Mmmm, beeeeefcaaaaaake..."
3. Some sort of reference to either Handel's Hallelujah Chorus or Beethoven's Ode to Joy.
I know you can do it! :D
Hope you get an audition/callback and job soon!
With the way the plot is shaping up, I hope it doesn't go the way of CME where Daniel gets together with Camila to torment her.
Alnocando is driving me nuts. He whines incessantly and lies. And who in their right mind wears a business suit and tie on Mexican horse ranch? Hopefully, they will put us out of misery pronto and kill him off.

Anon207: this is my first intro to your lists. Loved it. Can't wait to read more.
I finally figured out who Amanda reminds me of---Charo.
Robey
I missed part of the Isa-Ag convo about the appraisers; Isa's 'knitting' had me mesmerized. You're right about teaching her how to slip a few stitches.
So now we have a heroine who does not know the true identity of the galan. This usually adds some interesting plot twists, but it means that sooner or later Daniel/Andres will have some splaining to do and Camila will be angry and distrusting.
Was the actress playing Amanda in La Verdad Oculta? She looks very familiar.
Anya
Now that I got that off my chest, I'll read the recap.
I'm still not getting the purpose of creepy poncho guy and that office scene with Natalia and Alonso just confused me more. What was the purpose of that?
Also confusing was that I also thought Camila was going to meet Alonso for lunch, but they ended up eating at the same place but not with each other. Editing mistake?
What's going to happen when Amanda sees the picture of Daniel and recognizes him? Will she keep his secret?
Cathy- Al and Cami were never going to eat together and it wasn't the same place. They made it seem that they were meeting each other, but neither said the other's name as they were making plans. The audience didn't realize until Vivi walked into Cami's restaurant (which was also Dan's restaurant) to meet her.
Everyone else is calling him a delincuente, a bum, etc. Even the Padre is like "Um, I'on't know about this Daniel."
I don't think Amanda will find out about Daniel's real identity until she takes out a picture of Agatha to remember her dear friend from long ago, and Daniel sees the picture and is like "Uh, whatchoo doin' with a picture of my mom?"
Don't believe we got the pleasure of seeing CdlF shirtless in FELS. Cami and Dan have been savin' it so long now that I got a feeling their first time is gonna be dyn-oh-myyyyyyte!
Thanks for another fun and funny recap as we begin another novela.
It's been nice to see a novela where two officials refuse to be bribed. Abraham is no prize (he hates our handsome protagonist) but he's not going to be pushed around by Dionisio. Nor is our local lawyer buddy, who love the colors of Augustina's outfits, about to be bribed by Alonso.
Juanita: great question about Rene Strickler's role in all of this. I fear that it will be something like this: Camila and Daniel eventually get together, part, and RS comes in for a brief, unsuccessful time with Camila while she secretly pines away for Daniel. We had this scenario in Fuego, where Christian de la Fuente appeared on the scene to court Sophia during one of her many separations from Juan.
Isn't the actor who plays the sneaky, evil uncle and brother of the cook (who was in Corazon Salvaje many moons ago) so nasty? The actor was just great in Pasion in a wonderful, meaty role. Other parts pale in comparison.
That's right, SN didn't have sex with hubby Sergio Sendel in Manana es para siempre because her nana died on her wedding day. Am I remembering that right?
See if you agree:

Rene Strickler was Gaviota's interim love interest in Destilando Amor. I'd like to see him get the girl one of these times (just not this time, if it's Camila!).
Kat, great recap! Your smartassery is superior! I love it.

We last saw him escape with the clothes on his back. He even eventually lost his gray top and ended up stealing a blue jacket down the shore.
