Amorcito Corazón Discussion #94-98 Aug 27-31

EWM continues to throw herself at Fer, who is horrified by her.  She continues her crazy plans to harm Isa since her Fer plan failed.  She gets more potion from the witch, puts it in Isa’s coffee and thankfully Zoe throws it out.

Zoe, always believing the worst in based on the traumatizing demise of her marriage, knows Fer reciprocates EWM’s feelings.  She has lunch w/Lucia and is shocked about the latter’s return to the convent.  Unfortunately they fight about Lucia’s decision.  OK, I know Zoe had a bad marriage and is currently in a bad relationship but to listen to part of a conversation with a known bad guy and come away thinking the bad person is Fer.  You know both your friend and Fer have problems every other day so do you really want to contribute to the next problem?  She does confront Fer and they work things out but Zoe really needs to take every down about 1000.

Willy takes over Katrina’s business.  Friends, even without rIcky and Horny gunning for him, this can end badly as Willy doesn’t seem to have business acumen.  Add to this Moncho warning about putting the money in a safer place and Willy pooh, poohing the idea.

Beba and Gabino go to lunch; TNs often have the best food!  They are still cute and I hope the writers don’t break them up.  She finds out about the robbery at Horny’s and visits the witch.  La bruga (btw, this is Horny not the true witch who is assisting EWM trying to kill our main couple) doubts the sincerity of her only friend’s concern.

rIcky slimes back into his mom, who foolishly believes her son has reformed.  Naturally once at the house he sees where the money is hidden.

Sabrina gets EWM to hire her so her revenge plan, trying to seduce Fer, is set motion.  My hope here is that EWM realizes her plan and takes Sabrina the traitor out w/her pharmacy.

Lucia comes to the office and Fer sees her monja vestments.  Like Zoe, her uncle, and the mother superior, oh and Willy, he tries talk her out of it and she won’t listen.  At this point the tonterias of Zoe and Lucia make Isa seem reasonable.

Thanks Karen!! You are right on the money with Zoe and Fer...she needs to chill and stop trying to make trouble for Isa and Fer.

Willy was funny trying to figure out the books.

And am I the only one who stood up and cheered when Cecilio told Fer "dude, EWM has been making googly eyes at you forever and you were just too blind to see."

Loved the scene with Beba and Idrogo! I agree about the food.

"rIcky slimes back into his mom" (hilarious) and "business acumen" were a few of my favorites.

Karen, I may not be watching this but I love a good and witty recap and yours certainly was!!! Great fun...

Diana

Sara, no you were not the only one who cheered when Cecilio stated the obvi. Perhaps now he'll get wise to her other antics.

Diana - thanks so much for the kind words. I know the timing of the TN is bad but if you can catch it on re-run you should as its light and fun like Gancho.

Thanks, Karen! ITA about Zoe -- she really needs to take a chill pill. If she were my friend, I really don't think I'd forgive her so easily for getting all up in my business. Of course I'm not a nun. :)

Willy was so funny trying to figure out the math. I guess you don't have to be smart if you're pretty.

And wasn't Moncho cute last week, when he was hawking the rifa tickets to the ladies at the gym and telling them that whoever won could take him out for a spin? We have GOT to find him a girl.

P.S. I'm not a vocabulary maven, but I noticed something last night I'd never heard before -- "poner un hasta aquí a alguien." Fer said he did that to Manny; I assume it means to set some limits, i.e. tell someone to stop right there.

Thanks so much Karen for starting our Amorcito week off with a great recap. I haven't seen the whole episode yet. I did see when Zoe told Lucia off, which was just wrong. She may have meant well, but Zoe needs to learn some tact. I'm glad to hear that she eventually spoke to Fer and not to Isa about what she overheard. I still don't know why she jumped to the conclusion that Fer was cheating when all she heard was Manny expressing her feelings for him. She needs to stop projecting her feelings about men onto all men. Of course, she made the stupidest choice a woman who has been cheated on could make- she chose to have a relationship (and now a baby) with a man who is a known an admitted philanderer and is commitment-phobic. Combine that with her extreme distrust and jealousy, and talk about asking to be miserable!

Good morning Karen and thank you for the wonderful recap. ITA with you that Zoe was infuriating the entire episode. Like Vivi says, she is so busy sticking her nose in everyone else's biz that she doesn't even see the fox in her own henhouse.

OMG I was drooling over Beba's lunch...Chiles en Nogada YUM!!

Muchísimas gracias, Karen!

Those chiles en nogada looked delicious. I might have to do some cooking this weekend.

WHY are they keeping so freaking much money in a cookie tin in the kitchen, and HELLO! They KNOW ReIcky is a good-for-nothing slime. Argh. It's painful to watch. I hope he's foiled somehow. I like how the bad guys aren't always winning, like how Zoe dumped out the coffee, and Isa spilled Fernando's poisoned tea before he could drink it when he was in bed.

Zoe does need to take it down a notch or thirty and mind her own knitting before she picks apart everyone else's, but I can't help but like her. Better to have too much spunk and sass than to be a wimpy pushover who sits around crying and believing everything she hears, IMO. And I did like how she objected to Fernando's attempts to steamroll Lucía.

I'm looking forward to Doris's shrink appointment. The shrink is going to be analyzing drawings by the two little girls and Knuckles? This should be interesting.

Yay to Cecilio, the Voice of Reason. Fernando has amazing powers of denial if he hasn't realized Manuela is trying to get her claws into him.

Blue Lass, thanks for that vocab note. That's a good usage to know.

Here are a few vocab things I caught last night:

sin decir ni "agua va" - without warning

cadalso - scaffold, gallows

ir por el caño - to go down the drain

ser de armas tomar - to be a real handful, be one to be reckoned with

falluco - I *think* this means someone who is unreliable or always tardy

I also thought I heard boceta, which as far as I know is kind of vulgar slang for vagina, but that can't be right, can it?

Vocab added. Thank you.

Yay! Moncho's going to straighten out the accounts! I knew Willy was going to need help from *someone* -- and I was hoping it wasn't Lucia, coz frankly they need a trial separation.

I think the plot about the shrink analyzing the pics is hilarious. I thought he was a little full of himself.

Blue Lass - yes we must find Moncho a great woman as Barf needs to end up ALONE.

Vivi and Sylvia - at the start of the TN Zoe was a bit funny as the scorned wife. Unfortunately the writers have carried this way too far and she just seems psycho.

Julia - yes I do like how the baddies do get foiled. And thank goodness for Isa and Fer b/c I think EWM may have killed them with the amount of potion she put in their drinks.

Sorry. I was in bed by 7:45 last night. Instead of catching up I'll just do today's episode.

Unless y'all don't really need recaps. I'm fine if y'all just want to discuss with periodic vocab.

Sara, discussion is fine! We can fill in.

Here's a start:

- Isa overheard Ceci & F5 discussing the Sabrina issue in the parking garage. She went to Lucía for advice, and now Lucía has 2 friends with the same to-tell-or-not-to-tell problem.

- Manny gave Fer the ugliest desktop statue in the world, presumably to put a spell on him. It's hideous and racist and unimaginative and I am very disappointed in the writers.

- Marisol suggested Doris look at Poncho with new eyes, since he's clearly besotted with her. D continues in denial.

- Mayela sneaked out and ran into Jaibo and was confronted by Jaibo's girlfriend. He kicked girlfriend to the curb and told her to leave M alone; now the idiot is convinced that he "still loves her."

Thanks for getting us started Blue. The best thing that happened yesterday was Ricky sneaking in the house to steal the raffle money and finding NOTHING. Yay! They had just taken the money to the bank. However, Mama was too naive to realize what Ricky was up to when they found him in the house and the kitchen was in disarray. Moncho, however, knew exactly what Ricky was looking for and told Willy. Willy refused to believe his bro would sink so low. I ask, why not? Isn't it worse that he refused to give his own kid a kidney?!!! Stealing money is far less heinous. Ricky’s family really need to open their eyes. I’m so glad Moncho has his number.

Great episode for Moncho. I'm so relieved they took the money to the bank before ReIcky showed up, and he found nothing! Also glad Moncho is onto him.

As soon as Moncho walked into the gym office, I thought Willy G should focus on the operations side of the gym and hire Moncho to do the business stuff. Looks like it may turn out that way! This would be great for both of them. Moncho would finally have a steady income, and Willy G wouldn't run the place into the ground. Poor Willy G was looking at those papers like he had never seen numbers before.

That statue Manwily gave Fernie is hideous. I hope it gets dropped and smashed. Fernie is so willfully obtuse about her behavior. I did like his reaction to her request to hire Sabrina as her assistant: "WHY do you need an assistant? You don't even do anything!"

Mayela is an idiot. I don't see how Jaibo could appeal to ANY woman, much less multiple women, but I think she deserves him. Nice Iron Maiden poster on his wall.

Yeah. I'm not even going to talk about that statue Manny gave Fer...but why would he accept it from the crazy stalker lady who has admitted to having the hots for him? He gets mad at Isa for even accepting flowers (that eventually die and go away) from Jorge.

Oh, the other plot point was that Fernando went to confront Willy G about driving Lucia back to the convent or whatever, and Willy explained to him why he needed to ask for money from one of his old lady friends (without saying who it was) and that Lucia saw them together and misunderstood, but that he isn't intimately involved with any of his old hoochie mamas and only loves Lucia. Fernando calmed down but doesn't think Lucia will change her mind.

The crabby madre superiora is trying to tame and control Lucia again, but Lucia basically just bickered with her and defied her wishes. I don't think Lucia will last too long in the convent, with or without the Willy issue. She has too much independent spirit.

miércoles

--While Willy is at Horny's trying to pay her back runs into reIcky. reIcky says he's there to apply for the chofer job, but Willy doesn't believe him and questions Margartia. When Willy confronts reIcky, Jaibo roughs him (Willy) up.

--Sor Pilar tells Sor Ernestina to chill about Lucia and says Lucia can come and go as she pleases. Sor Pilar wants to meet Beba.

--Barf picks a fight with Marisol over her dad coming and yelling at Willy. Juancho gets between them and takes Marisol's side. Barf gets pithed, yells at Juancho and flounces away. Juancho checks on Marisol. They almost kiss, but Knuckles shows up and starts a fight with Juancho. Knuckles threatens Juancho.

--Mayela tells Doris she's having second thoughts about giving up the baby. Must be a symptom of her delusion about Jaibo. Mayela goes out and runs into Jaibo. Jaibo says he'll give Mayela another chance and they'll see about the baby. Poncho comes up and Jaibo threatens him. Mayela acts like she doesn't know Poncho.

--Sarita tells Leo things will never be the same between them and she asks Isa if she can move back in with her. :-(

--Manny tells Fer Isa should not be at the next meeting because that Bermudez (?) dude is uncomfortable with that. Fer tells Isa not to come to the next meeting. Manny gloats to herself.

--Fer runs into Sabrina at lunch.

--Beba tells Lucia about Willy owing Horny the money for Tuqueque's operation.

Finally, Lucía gets the whole story! Of course Horny will engineer some other malentendido. I don't understand how Lucía doesn't know what a manipuladora Horny is, what with her being her brother's suegra and all.

Gracias, Sara!

How can Horny not be thoroughly embarrassed by how pitiful and desperate she is? It's too bad you can't beat sense into people. She sounded like a total idiot when she was whining to Willy G "Why can't you understand that I love you, so we have to be together?!" Gee, Horny, why can't you understand that he DOESN'T love you or even want you in any way whatsoever? Of course, in Horny's world it's all about what she wants and the lower classes exist merely to support her whims. Gah.

I think Moncho is going to turn out very successful by the end. He's sharp and willing, he just needs the right opportunity.

Barf is the worst. Well, Knuckles is, too. Can't they run off together?

When knuckles was up in Juancho's face yelling at him, he looked so silly lisping through his bucked teeth. I had to laugh. :)

Thanks Sara!

I am rooting for Moncho too. He has always been very enthusiastic in his attempts to be successful and he has a good soul.

Vivi, I was worried! Knuckles has probably 60 pounds on Juancho, and no morals.

jueves

--Lucia and Beba get to talking and they realize Mayela is scamming Beba. So when Mayela comes later to get money, it is awesome to watch Beba call her bluff.

--Beba is convinced Lucia still loves Willy. Beba visits Willy and tells him this news. She is going to help him get Horny's acct # so he can deposit the money?

--Moncho tries to fight Juancho because he made Barf cry. Moncho is not much of a fighter. Eventually Juancho lets Willy and Moncho know the real reason Barf got mad. In other words: THey know Barf was the aggressor with Marisol.

--BEcause of the three different pictures, the shrink thinks Doris has three personalities. One personality is dark and twisted (yes, that would be the picture Knuckles drew.) He tells Fer Doris is like a time bomb. Comedy ensues.

--Doris finds out from Poncho that Mayela may be getting back with Jaibo Babydaddy. Doris wants Poncho to use his charms to woo Mayela. (?)

--Isa gets in an accident and who knows why, but the hospital calls Jorge. Criminey. How is it Jorge's is the only number they find in her phone? *eye roll* He rushes to the hospital and gets creepy.

--Touching scene with Fer and Marisol discussing her 18th birthday party. She hasn't wanted a party since mom died. He thinks mom would want a party for her 18th and to see him celebrating. Fer also mentioned the picture drawn by the "twisted" personality. Marisoverystupid insists Knuckles is a great guy.

--Knuckles buys jewelry from Jaibo (did he actually get it? the phone rang and I was too lazy to rewind.) He also asks Jaibo to "send a message" to someone. (3 guesses who that would be.)

--Horny was not happy about Manny finagling Isa's absence at the meeting.

--Sabrina is pissed FFFFF is not falling at her feet even with the threat of blackmail.

--Zoe and FFFFF smoochie.

--Isa wakes up at the hospital. Jorge loans her his phone. She calls Fer. He's in that meeting with Horny e Hija and Bermuda guy. He is brusque and rude and he pithed me off today.

Vocabulary

píntate de colores: (said at least 3 times in 2 days.) Get outta here! Vete! Lárgate! Scram!

ver la cara: (also used a squillion times this week) to deceive; Beba said "me estás viendo la cara" to Mayela (o algo así) She was saying to her "your playing me for a fool/deceiving me."

cancelería: screens (I guess Juancho works at a screen shop?)

azar: chance

sacar a rastras: to drag out. Lala wanted to drag Beba out of the house.

Sara, as always, a great mini-cap.

Well, Fer is on my Dead to Me List today. How can he be so rude, stupid, etc. all at the same time.

I do love Beba, the only one with a heart. I do hope she and her new suitor make it. They are sweet together. She is going to need someone like him when finds about her loathsome, good for nothing son. (Why is living in the basement?)

I bet Knuckles is going to buy "THE BRACELET" to give to the birthday girl. Since it belonged to her mother she will of course recognize it and then all hell will break loose. The sad part is that it will take too many episodes to connect the darn thing to Manny.

Was Isa's accident a PSA for not looking at your cell phone while driving? Jorrible was creepy at the hospital, but of course, that is nothing new.

Rosemary Primera

Sara, thanks for your recap and vocab. Could you post the link to the vocab again? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

Yes Fer was rude but if the meeting was that important why take your cell phone in? Have Susie answer it. But then we wouldn't have their break-up for the week.

Jorrible was quite creepy. Though he finally just kissed her forehead, he wanted to molest her lips.

RP - I hope THE BRACELET does open Marisilly's eyes about Knuckles (as we know it will be weeks/months before its linked to EWM). And yes Isa's accident did seem like a PSA.

Thanks, Sara.

Well, Marisilly certainly takes after her dad. They are both blind to reason. How can she possibly think Knuckles is a good guy after what he did to her? Even if she thinks she had sex with him without fighting him off, she definitely knows that she was very drunk and out of it at the time, so he should NOT have taken her not objecting as consent! Don't they teach anything at that school she goes to? Not to mention that he is so obviously a thug.

I'm anti-Fernando today, too. What a jerk. He hasn't talked to Isa since the day before and he knows that she knows he has an important meeting, so does he really think she'd be calling him in the middle of it just to chat? Plus, if it's so important he can't talk on the phone, he should turn his phone off or leave it in his office, not answer it just to hang up without even hearing why the person called.

The scene where Fernando and Doris each thought the other was psychotic was funny, though.

I really enjoyed seeing Beba put an end to Mayela's tricks. Ha.

Yay, protagonista hospitalized. I didn't get my card out last night but I think I might have Bingo.

I have a few vocab notes to add.

Someone used a form of the phrase "mandar a calacas". Calacas are the Day of the Dead skeleton figures...so is this a colorful way of saying to kill?

"Azar" was used in a phrase I like, "por azares del destino", meaning "as fate would have it".

jalador - means both cooperative person (as it was used here) and squeegee.

buscar tres pies al gato - to split hairs, try to complicate matters

I have bingo on column 2, card 8 with "automobile accident"! I'll share it with you, Julia. (Although I may not officially have it yet, since I haven't watched the episode...)

In my middle-aged lady parlance, "buscar los tres pies del gato" means "to ask for trouble."

P.S. The proper word for SQUEEGEE was just what I needed today!

Let me try this link again.

Hey Karen,
here's the link to the vocab list.

The vocab list is now up to date.

Thanks for the recap of Wednesday, I missed this episode as it was not broadcast here for some reason. It was just a blank black screen for the entire hour.
I feel like I missed a lot, didn't know what was going on until I read your recap. : )

viernes
They really let the stupid and crazy loose today.

--EWM (dressed in a horrible leopard print onesie) stabbed Horny in the back and agreed that no audit was needed. Horny called EWM a zorra and told her to stay out of her life forever.

--EWM had a crisis of nerves and Fer thought nerve pills would be a good idea (QTH? Pastillas para los nervios? Are those even real?)EWM did not follow the directions and ate them like skittles. She goes nuts and Fer has to carry her home. He tries to tuck her into bed. She busts moves. He stares at her like a dope. He *should* have run like hell, but noooo. Even better, when he finally does leave, Sabrina convinces him to go out, get a few drinks at a bar that plays that ubiquitous song "Sexy Sexy Smile."

--Jorge takes Isa to her parents ranch. She cries to mama about how hard it is to be with Fer and all the problems they keep having.

--Isa's dad is going to take Jorrible riding. I hope Jorrible falls and breaks his neck or is rendered impotent.

--Moncho and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Lost his job. Got beat up by a house and dropped his cell in a puddle after getting splashed with water.

--Willy paid back Horny thanks to Beba giving him the acct number. He is going to miss the WillyMovil. Oh, Horny told Beba to go to hell, too.

--Willy's friends with cockatoo hairdos invited Lucia to the raffle. She declined.

--FFFFF played room service with Zoe and brought her two wedding rings. I guess he's a jackwagon, but sometimes he is sweet.

I may think of other things later, this is what I remember.

COCKATOO HAIRDOS HAHAHAHAHAHA

I will get caught up this weekend and be able to make more intelligent comments. Maybe.

Cockatoo hairdos. Perfect! I still can never remember those guys' names. They're very funny, though. The scene with the dog looked like maybe it wasn't scripted that way.

And that leopard onesie. That's what she wears to the super important meeting? Okay.

One other possibly significant thing is that one of the guys who bought a raffle ticket changed his mind, and Moncho decided to let him return it so he gave him his money back and kept the ticket for himself. After his comically terrible, horrible, no good very bad day, I wonder if he might win the Willymóvil.

Another possibility I considered is that ReIcky and/or Jaibo might trash or steal the car before the raffle, but I hope not. That might kill Willy.

Maybe that bull that gored Isa's first fiancé is still around and will do the job right on Jorge...after he falls off the horse and breaks his neck. Fingers crossed!

Sara thanks so much for the recap and the vocab link.

EWM and Horny are quite a pair. I wonder if they will turn each other in or take one another out. They are possibly the creepiest mother-daughter pair I've seen in a TN.

Julia - yes I think the scene with the puppy chasing Willy's two friends was not scripted and quite funny.

It would be great if something would happen as Jorrible is riding.

Fer and Marisilly continue to tempt fate and ignore all the signs that the people they are around are crazy.

While I think Moncho could use something good, I hope he doesn't get the car. I would hate for the vecindario to think the rifa was rigged and then demand their money back. I think that would cause more problems.

And about the episode with the pictres: So we know Knuckles' work indicates a tormented, dark and twisted soul. Didn't Jaibo do the pretty pics of Marisilly? Does that mean deep down he's a good guy? Surely not.

Sara good observation about the pictures. Jaibo was making portraits whereas the drawings were supposed to be "free-drawing" or whatever you felt like creating. I'm guessing our rather amusing doc is considering the latter category for drawing. So while Jaibo may have a talent he can use in prison (my hope), its does not reveal he's a good guy.

Yes, it could be problematic for Moncho to win the raffle. I'll settle for Willy G giving him a job at the gym, or for him to get another solid job.

Was it Jaibo who did the portrait of Marisilly, not Knuckles? When did that happen? Hard to imagine either of those two could be decent at all, but drawing a life-like portrait isn't likely to bring out the demons like a vague assignment to draw something you imagine.

Whew! Finally caught up!

Some commments:

- Horty continues very funny when drinking. She was only in the bar for about 15 seconds this time, and I was cracking up.

- Looks like Sabrina has started right off getting her clothes from the same Executive Slut line as her boss. That one-shoulder number? On her first day of work? GAG.

- Jorrible told Isa that the reason the hospital rang him was because she had a missed call on her phone from him. So they weren't just rooting through her address book randomly, I guess.

- I FF'd through the entire scene at the Rancho Cordero. I am so tired of Isabel and her sniffling.

- F5 served up the rings on top of a dessert he called a "siempre juntos." Was that just a joke, or is it a real cake name?

- I totally want a job at Constructora Lobo. They wear whatever they want, they drink at lunch, they routinely take the entire afternoon off for personal business, there's lots of kissing, and if you're having a bad day they just hand you SOMEONE ELSE'S XANAX PRESCRIPTION.

I am so tired of Isabel and her sniffling.
----
They are really not doing a good job of making the Fer/Isa trials and tribulations very believable. It's the same thing over and over and it's usually something petty and stupid. Things that real couples who REALLY love each other would just pooh pooh.

Willy and Lucia on the other hand are written very well. Well, maybe there is a little too much stubborn on Lucia's part, but I can at least understand where she is coming from. She's been very sheltered.

I would also like to apply for a position at Constructora Lobo. That Xanax thing seems to be a great perk.

A real relationship, yes -- wouldn't that be a bit of fresh air? We've been talking about this on UA's weekend thread, too.

It occurred to me that if someone took a picture of my husband appearing to snuggle a tarty coworker in public, I would probably (in chronological order):

a) laugh
b) ask the person why they wanted to upset me, and
c) remark to my husband over dinner, "Hey, I heard you had lunch with ol' puta-face."

I certainly would not hint around asking him if anything special happened today and what did he have for lunch and all that basura. I mean, I'm not TWELVE.
