Abismo de pasión #117 8/27/12: Discussion page: Flor is up to something!

Paloma loses her nerve and runs away without telling Gael and Elisa about her pregnancy.  Only her daddy figures know and both papa padre and papa doctor have been sworn not to tell.

Dig it!  Alfie has stashed Horacio in the cemetery where he tends to the graves.  He resists her pressure to solve her Gabino problem with murder.  He is a changed man and he is there for two reasons: he wants to see justice done; and he has to protect his Dolores.  He gives Alfie just a taste of the secrets he knows when he admits that under Gabino's orders, he tried to kill Dam in a riding accident when he first came back to LE with Flor.

Alfie visits Paolo -- satisfyingly bruised and beaten -- in the Mérida reclusorio.  She knows he's Gabino's accomplice in the ProCe fraud.  If she finds he's involved in Gweedo's murder -- and she KNOWS it was murder -- Paolo is a dead man.

Lucio is too depressed to continue his courtship of Maru.  She gets the message.

Elisa is oblivious, radiant and weepy.  You know the drill.  She thinks Paloma is going to be her friend again and she'll be able to persuade Lupe to perform her wedding.

Gael looks like a thundercloud.  At least he's still shaving and washing his hair.

Flor continues to give both Alfie and Dam the ice treatment.  She talks about carrying out her promise to her father.

She visits Elisa to deliver her wedding invitation, is surprised to hear Elisa and Gael are to be married the same day.  She displays amazing reflexes when she bats away Elisa's hand extended to touch her fake belly.

Dam visits Elisa at the ProCe.  He moons over her (not THAT way) and says though it hurt him to hear her say she loved Gael, he's glad she has a chance at happiness in her marriage.

Gabino and the plaid guys play shirts and skins.  He's the only skin and naturally he plays dirty.  Then he and Carmina go at each other's throats though their thoughts wander further south.  He can't leave Ingrid right now -- she has a nervous condition.  Why Doc Tovar sees her weekly for her treatment...

Begoña follows Doc in  a taxi right up to Hacienda Mendoza.  She gets an eyeful of Edmundo "treating" Ingrid in the garden -- right where la Beltrán met her maker.

Enrique talks up his father to the receptionist at ProCe Castañon (the lovely lady in pink from CME).  Does he suggest testing first?

Sabrina is staying with an aunt in Guadalajara.  She isn't ready to come back to La Ermita.

Avances:  Black Widow AlfaBitch confronts Orange Widow OmegaBitch about the Blue House.

Please chime in with additions and corrections.  I'll go back in bit and catch my typos.

NovelaMaven: Great succinct, snarky recap. Flor seemed human for a minute or two. She actually seemed sad that Elisa would not be able to attend her wedding. I have not got a clue as to what she has planned - maybe an expose of Alfonsina.

Thanks NM! Perhaps Flor plans to whip out the pillow from under her wedding dress right after the I Dos are exchanged? I really have no clue what the little minx has planned but I look forward to it.

Yay! Nice to see "Connie" from CME. Sorry Ricky. Daddy Doc won't be interested in her unless she's a needy harpy. That's his type.

I can't believe Alfie has helped Hor stay under cover all these months and he's only now giving her some dirt. At least she's concentrating her vengeful efforts on the people who deserve it for a change. I love seeing how shaken she is by Flor being a mean, cold bitch to her. It's about time she learned what it's like to be on the receiving end.

Favorite word of the day: opacar, literally 'to make opaque' but here, 'to overshadow'.

Context: Dam suggests Flor is upset that Elisa's wedding will steal some of the thunder from their own and Flor answers:

Nada ni nadie va a opacar lo que va a pasar en nuestra fiesta.
(No person or thing is going to overshadow what is going to happen at our party.)

Second favorite word of the day: tramar, to plot, to plan something squirrelly.

Context: Dam asks Flor suspiciously:
Qué estás tramando?
(What are you up to?)

What we learned last night:

Begona learned Edmundo is getting his groove on.

Gabino learned Ingrid had the same illness Carmina had, that only Doc Tovar can cure with TLC.

Florencia learned Elisa/Gael are getting married the same day she/Dam are and Dam never told her.

Elisa learned you can't just go around touching people's bellies.*

Maru learned to get to steppin'.

Lucio learned Maru ain't about spend the rest of her life suffering for him and that curiously turns him on (Paloma, Florencia...take note)

Alfie learned Paolo is catching regular beatdowns in prison.

Alfie also learned Horacio tried to kill Damian in the horse saddle incident.

*Seriously, why do people think because you're pregnant they can go touching your belly? Did anyone go around touching Elisa's fake boobs?

I can't wait for the weddings either! I think Florencia will not show up or like Vivi said bust out that pillow. The most "important" and "happiest" days of their lives will definitely be the most interesting. Paloma will come out with her news of a Gael JR. Elisa will leave Gael, Damien will leave Flor and they will get married and live happily ever after! HAHA, yeah right. I don't even believe myself. Elisa has a bit more suffering before she reaches that point. We'll see. ALL I can say is I am HOOKED on this novela and super glad I found this Blog :)

NovelaMaven: thank you for this lovely ray of sunshine. I smiled my way through every word. Splendid!

"Alfie visits Paolo -- satisfyingly bruised and beaten" and "Gael looks like a thundercloud. At least he's still shaving and washing his hair" were a few of my favorites.

Vivi, I don't know what the little minx Flor has planned either, but you can bet it will be an eye opener. As long as it makes Alfie miserable, go for it!

I know Horacio has passed beyond redemption but I'm glad he wants justice rather than vengence.

This sparkled NovelaMaven, gracias!

Diana

Thanks, NovelaMaven! What a great condensed retelling; all the necessary facts, spiced up with more humor than should fit in a few words.

WHY do people in telenovelas always act like the antogonistas are such prickly pears when they don't want people touching their tummies? You can't go around groping women just because they are pregnant (or fake pregnant); QTH. Rude, Elisa.

If Gabino wore his jeans even a millimeter lower, the Lunivisión pixilators would have to work overtime.

Novela Maven...many thanks. Loved your explanation of "opacar". Elegant translation.

Also loved your note of Florencia's "amazing reflexes" (she's had practice batting hands away lately) and "Damian moons over Elisa (not THAT way)". You're wonderfully wicked.

And thanks for once again showing us a recap can be brief but informative, and especially...delightful.

I thought Paolo looked kind of hot all beat up and with a close beard. I know, this proves that I'm definitely twisted!!!

Welcome mariaescutia! We love it when new people discover this wonder blog and join in on the comments.

Thanks much Novelamaven!

Paloma only has one voice - pathetic weepy whine. I'm so tired of her pathetic character.

Gabino was getting close to mooning the audience!

Is it just me, or does the logo of the new proce with the two habañeros look like a bikini top? Is that on purpose?

You had me at the title! ITA: what is Flor up to?

I also loved:

Dig it!  Alfie has stashed Horacio in the cemetery as a grave digger. Too funny

"Gael looks like a thundercloud": Perfect. And is it just me or is he starting to look like the actor who starred in "Tarzan: The legend of Greystoke". That pageboy is distracting!

How the hayride (Marta!) does Alpha all of a sudden know Paolo was an accomplice?! The only way that has come to light was behind closed doors (II and Guido), so now Alpha is miraculously enlightened? Has any character even suggested such a possibility to her before?

I know, tighten the beanie....

Thank you, NM! Your trademark wit and style the whole way through!

Julia- I didn't notice that. LOL! I will have to take a look next time. I can't pay much attention to those Castanon Procesadora scenes because I am laughing and shaking my head in disbelief. And sorry writers, showing Elisa having ONE conversation with Gael about finding new contracts is going to convince me that she's the head of that company.

that's "isn't going to convince me..."

@Audrey..thank goodness I wasn't the only DOW noticing Gabino's er..."separation". Yes, he was that close to full exposure. Bless his little heart. However, as always, my close attention to his fine musculature was strictly professional. Fitness fitness!

Julia, I thought the same think about the yellow peppers! They also look like lemons.

Vivi, you're so right about Elisa unbelievable as CEO. If for no other reason than how she dresses for work. I'm embarrassed for her when she walks in in those short dresses and cowboy boots. Not the look of a professional who wants to be taken seriously.

And I forgot to mention earlier, I thought it entirely inappropriate of Padre Loopy or, as Carlos noted, Dear Abby, to tell Gael AND Elisa that Paloma had something to tell them. She had barely talked herself into coming clean with Gael and he thought it was appropriate to tell him in front of Elisa? Not to mention her feelings as the only person in the room who doesn't know Gal-Pal have done the deed. That's cold, Padre!

NM - very succinct and funny recap. All your wonderful quips have already been highlighted, but I especially like the "shirts and skins".

The sight of Doc and II makes me more nauseous than I can admit. That poor man must have been starved for "affection" for a long time.

Not sure why all these antics feel more like we should be in the Ultimates already. I agree with MariaE ( by the way---WELCOME!WELCOME!) the idea of "happy ever after" really stretches the beanie on this one. With what we know of these characters--hardly, but for the episodes we watch everyone smiling, we'll buy into.

Alfi is certainly a woman on a mission now. Hiding Horacio. How does someone in a small town stay so undercover for months? No beer or tequila at the bar for you dude!!!

Thanks NovelaMaven... very snappy and very well done.

Belated thanks to Cynderella for your raucous recap for Friday... sorry that I was unable to make time to add my comments.

I really was impressed by Florencia's sly serenity. She clearly has a corker of a plan although I have absolutely no idea what it is. However, I do not think that it will require a substitute fetus.

Still room at the Alfonsina table. Plenty of Bitter Widow Cocktails for everyone. I think after her meeting with Horacio she will become the straw that stirs... at least until the wedding day.

Carlos

Mariaescuta and others re Flo's wedding day/belly - I also had thoughts that she might pull out the pillow and rub it in, but, didn't she say at the outset that she was going to produce a child as part of her plan to ruin the Arangos?

My, my, little Elisa sure has come a long way in a short time. Her own private office and Damian visiting her like a loyal subject.

Thanks NM...you hit the nail on the head......Flor is up to something! Baby kidnapping plot considered, if Flo delivers a deserved, dethroning blow to Alfonsina with a dramatic wedding day tummy pillow strip, and a truthful confession, is she therefore redeemable? Still ruminating on it, decision to follow......

Gosh, hate to get to serious about a NOVELA, but what kind of lesson is AdeP teaching young women? Won't Gael HAVE to marry Paloma? Will he leave her an unwed mom? This outcome is a sticky wicket either way! Didn't we hear Pal say something like, "What did I do to deserve this?" Duh! You stalked, teased and trapped the guy! (I know.....he's a jerk too!) Is Paloma one of the good characters?

NM....loved Black Widow AlfaBitch and Orange Widow  OmegaBitch!

Yes, Thank you for the welcoming.

Also getting excited for tonight's episode when Alfonsina will confront Carmina about the house where Rosendo met his amante. Definitely want to hear what she pulls out of her a$$ this time! I'm ready for some one to air out all her dirty laundry and see her in jail and beat up like her dear friend, Paulo.

Thanks Novela Maven. Flo definitely has a scheme, but what is it? I like the not pregnant revealing at the wedding. That would show Alfie that Flo had the last laugh on that one. Right after the church wedding too.

I see death by Gabino in Ingrid's future. Her days are numbered. Gab will go by the house and see her and the doc together. You just know that Begonia will tell her BFF what she saw. And BFF tells Gabino.

I love the partnership of Horacio and Alfie. I can't wait to see what they will cook up.

Yes, Sandy, Paloma said "What did I do to deserve this?" Um, is it a mystery? I think Ramona really failed at the sex ed! Maybe doc can explain to her how babies are made, and how they could possibly be not made even if you're determined to seduce a guy.

Thanks, NM!!! another great short and snarky one...

Gael has a thundercloud indeed, and it is more active at each episode... maybe the storm will turn into a tornado on wedding day.

Padre Papa Loopy has definitely earned a honorary lifetime membership to the 'wedding crashers' club... maybe the only priest member at that exclusive group... he has done every thing in his power nine ways to sunday to crash / cancel those weddings, but they keep on comin'!
however, now it is pretty obvious Flo has some kind of plan cooking up.
And Horacio hiding until just the right time... this novela had turned into a hot mess the last few weeks, but now with the weddings coming close and Horacio waiting at the sidelines it is definitely picking up excitement,
although pretty much everything related to the Castanon procesadora is indeed a WTH factor.

Audrey, I have to admit that I also found Paulo to be way hotter all beat up and scruffy lol.

Hi all, we didn't have a recap for last night and Novela Maven offered to post a header. Well Novela Maven thank you for coming through with a recap at the last minute!! You are amazing and so is your "header". Believe it or not I am actually looking forward to watching this episode thanks to the recap.

Lori and Audrey, I agree about Paolo. I never really cared for his looks until the prison scene. I think it was the 2 day beard and mussed up hair for me.

Does Sara live in LA? (Lower Alabama) I hope she hasn't had to evacuate!

Thanks NM!

NovelaMaven - Thank you for the recap. Succinct and snarky, just the way I love 'em. I'll have to FFWD-> thru this episode just to see Paolo all beaten up. Just desserts, but why on earth did the other prisoners beat him up?

Doris- Alfie alluded to how rapists are treated in prison. I have a feeling he was beat up while trying to resist becoming someone's girlfriend. He was limping kind of funny, and Alfie made a snide comment about not keeping him from his commitments with his fellow inmates. Prison rape was heavily implied.

Ai ai ai. Can't wait to watch this one. Thanks for the delicious recap, NM!

Sandy, I think Sara lives in UA (Upper Alabama.) But it's probably not too pleasant there right now, either.

Sara told me she could no longer recap Abismo on Mondays because of her schedule. I thought she had a sub but I haven't had time to follow up with her. I'll do that tonight. I think she's fine, just super busy.
