El Mundo de Telemundo - Week of August 13 - Discuss among yourselves
Labels: pablo, rostro, telemundo, valiente
“Milagros” doesn’t recognize JM even though face to face with him. He’s in total shock. She uses almost the same words as she did in the first episode. She’s come to deliver a cake and smiles at him, asking him if he’s the chauffeur or one of the bodyguards. Seeing his expression, she says: “You know me, right?” She tells him she’s had a few health programs and has forgotten things.
Miggy has called an ambulance and does CPR on Alex.
Camilo tells the cops who’ve come to arrest him he’s done nothing wrong. They say his correct name, so we know they don’t think he’s Luis. Lorena says she’ll get him a lawyer.
Ángela faints. JM gets all possessive and says he’ll talk with Gus.
Dummy Duval tells Camilo he’s there for a voluntary collaboration.
Nora tells the Reptile she’ll get vengeance her way, without death. The Reptile tells Nora that her only satisfaction is in having burned up Ángela, keeping her forever from JM.
Sam asks Gus to go out while she explains things to JM. He asks who that guy is. Sam says Ángela doesn’t remember anything.
Esteban shows up to rail at D8D. He says we both lost her. And now those three are a happy family in the house YOU gave them. He tells D8D: Yo finjo dar un paso al costado. (I pretended to step to one side.) But he says he’s going to fight for Sam; she’s going to be his. He gets those glittery, obsessed eyes again. D8D grabs him by the neck with his cane and says: “May the best man win!”
JM goes nuts on Gus, saying he kidnapped her. Gus explains that he saved her from the streets. He used his police contacts to find out her history. JM is behaving like a complete ass. He asks why he didn’t turn them in, then. Gus says he realized they were victims.
Nora tries to find out who poisoned the Reptile, but isn’t successful. The prisoners correctly say she is a devil who tried to burn them up and go after her. What a shame. They don’t kill her.
Miggy tells Alex that she had a heart attack caused by an overdose. He says this is over.
JM wants to know from Gus who knows Ángela’s alive and is told Miggy, Sam and Duval, who will keep quiet for his sake. He says it would be dangerous for her to return to jail in her condition. He had a shrink speak with her who told him she could remember at any time or never, but that it’s dangerous to force her. She comes downstairs, says “Mi Amor” and passes right by JM and into Gus’ arms.
Miggy tells Alex she’ll be in the hospital a few days, but she won’t be coming back to his place. He tells her she says she loves him, so show him.
Duval tells Camilo the officers made a mistake. He isn’t arrested and isn’t guilty of a crime. Miggy is there and tells him they need his help catching these guys who are guilty of narcotraficante y tratantes de blancas (drug dealing and trafficking in women). It appears to me that they want Camilo to pretend to be Luis.
Everyone, including Emma and Peralta, try to calm JM down and convince him that Miggy was trying to protect his sister.
Miggy finally picks up JM’s call and gets an earful. JM agrees to meet him before going after Ángela. Poor Miggy. He’s talking with a hysterical JM and has to grab Camilo by the collar to keep him from escaping! When JM and Miggy meet in his apartment JM hollers that he won’t forgive him. And she’s with another man! Miggy doesn’t regret what he did. They both take off their jackets and put up their dukes.
Ángela realizes something is going on. She ended up in JM’s house, the same man who was on the screen of Gus’ laptop. He tells her the doctor said she shouldn’t know about her past. “Then this man has something to do with my past?” Gus tells her she’s a blessing, a light in his life, and he loves her. But she has another life, another family, and he’s going to tell her everything. Ángela gets very upset and says she doesn’t want to know.
Miggy gives it to JM right between the eyes. “You didn’t believe in Ángela. You didn’t look further when all of us said she was innocent. You didn’t raise a finger to help her!” JM: “I deserved to know!” Miggy: “Why? You preferred to believe the real killer.” JM tells him that he believed her in spite of all the paid witnesses, but when she confessed his world fell in on him. Miggy says he knows that JM is suffering and dying of jealousy about Gus, but what is important to him is his sister’s health and that she not go back to jail.
Crap! That miserable b!tch Ofelia has gotten someone to take pictures of Ángela at the bakery. D8D is thrilled with this development. He says Nora lied and that Miggy and Sam are protecting a fugitive, something illegal.
Willy tells Sam, if he were JM, he’d go right over there and get his woman. Sam tells him that Ángela said they’ve only kissed. Willy still puts himself in JM’s shoes.
Camilo tells Lorena he’s decided to do something positive with his life. Later he talks with Miggy, who agrees to train him for his “mission”.
Willy comes to see D8D. He tells him he knows he faked the blood tests for Ángela and Samantha, and now he knows that Sam and Miggy and Angela are siblings. D8D says, but Ángela’s dead. He asks what he ever did to his father. Why does he harm him? Sam and Miggy can feel proud of their father, an honorable man; but I’ll never be proud of you. He says he’s leaving the company and leaving D8D’s life. D8D calls him a useless person. Willy just smiles and says this useless person has the woman you wanted and will never have.
JM arrives at the bakery in a jealous rage. Sam tries to reason with him. He gets past her and throws a punch at Gus. Gus also hits him. Ángela comes out of the back and tells JM to leave before she calls the police.
Miggy tells Alex they can have an opportunity after she’s been to rehab. She tells him she knows he doesn’t feel the same about her, but she’s going to give her life if necessary to get him to love her again. Dante shows up with a bouquet of roses and is thrown out by Miggy.
Esteban is helping Nic with his homework when Willy horns in, trying to show what a scholar he is [not].
Gus is behaving well. He tells Ángela she needs to speak with this gentleman alone.
D8D calls Sam. He then goes to see the Reptile. He tells her she allied herself with Nora. He then shows her the picture of Ángela that Ofelia got. She goes nuts, throwing things. He tells her Ángela lost her memory and just makes cakes. The Reptile says she wants her inside the prison. D8D says he’ll bring her on a silver platter and reminds her that her mother chose Ángela over her.
JM tells Ángela she seems afraid of him. She says she is, a little. Her past scares her. Her doctor told her she doesn’t remember because it will hurt too much. JM says he’s the one responsible for the pain, but he wants to fix it. He tells her he loves her.
Miggy listens to Willy complain in a bar about the battle over Nic’s affections. But Miggy gets up and puts a gun in the side of a guy and asks him who paid him to follow him.
The Reptile begins choking her mother in her bunk in the cell.
Sam goes to see D8D, saying she’s not afraid to meet with him. He shows her the picture of Ángela in the bakery. He gets close to her and says, suggestively, “What will you give me in exchange for her freedom?”
great recap novelera !!!
(and thanks Jean for yours as well this week!)
oh yea, the prison fire, Fernanda was responsible for that,
so the prisoners know that ??
loved the scene where an irate JM asks, who knew Angela was alive first?
Willy, ahh... points at Sammy,
Sammy, ahh... says Miguel
when Gus is ready to tell Angela all,
leave it to Angela to say she doesn't want to know,
amazing acting by Gabriel Valenzuela (Luis/Camilo),
who has already played Luis, who was a completely different character
I think the photos of Angela at the bakery came from Vicente's things,
wow, Bernardo is so evil, and no one gets it,
except maybe Fernanda, who speaks the same language,
I wish Bernardo was there when Fernanda put 5 bullets in him
oh Nora,
please have a lead pipe under your pillow.
Ramada is lining up the Colombian connection. Both he and the Cuban commandante pretend that the people, and revolutionary goals, are important. But the truth is, is all about money, and while Ramada offers $500 per kilo, the Cuban officer wants $1500.
Colonel Jairo Jiménez and his wife and son now live in Bogotá. The DEA gave Jairo a new truck, and the Colombian army is supplying security. Jairo tells his wife not to worry, he's not even working, just taking classes to become a general. Just home to school, school to home, always with a guard. But their teenaged son, listening outside the door, is worried.
The esteemed supreme court judge is named Melendez. He receives a wreath of flowers, which is a death threat, and his wife is in tears. Other judges are getting threats, too, that they'd better rule against the constitutionality of the extradition treaty with the US, or else. Melendez says he has to vote on the actual law, regardless of the pressure. His wife, though, just wants him to rule that the extradition is unconstitutional, and then the threats will stop.
Coco is discussing the difficulties of killing Jiménez with a young black associate. The young guy says the cars are armor-plated (blindado), but Coco says with the money they're paying us, I'll use a rocket.
El Marino wants to prove how tough he is. Chili says here are the bosses prize roosters. I dare you to shoot one. Marino shoots one, and laughs. How ya like that, boys?
Mariachi, Gonzo, Pedro, Marcos and Pablo are meeting. It's not easy to kill Jiménez, let's go after that journalist, says Mariachi. Pedro isn't sure that's a good idea. Marcos wants to kill them both. But Jiménez has so many guards. So what, says Pablo. He could have more guards than the Pope. If we want to take him out, we take him out. Punto.
Coco gets a call, he has to go back to Medellin. Someone they thought was killed survived.
Pablo is in bed with a young girl, Yesenia. Outside the door, the mole is listening in. Chili comes along, are you spying on the boss? No way, how could you think that? Well, says Chili, you'd better not be doing anything wrong. You know what happens if you do. He's definitely suspicious.
Jiménez is putting bulletproof vests on his kids, trying to reassure him they're like Superman. The younger kid is oblivious, but the teenager isn't. He knows the danger, as does Jairo's wife.
Ramada is back, tells Pablo he had to agree to $1250 a kilo with the Cubans. That's okay, says Pablo, we'll just charge the gringos more. But those Cubans have so much power, says Ramada. Don't worry, son, we'll have plenty of power, too. And don't worry about that extradition thing. Everything has a solution, and we're working on it.
Jairo and his wife are waiting nervously for their escort cars to arrive. She wants to go to their country house, but he says they'd be too exposed. She's also upset the extradition thing hasn't been decided yet. Jairo tells her he loves her, as the car whisks him off.
Marino tells Chili that guy (the mole) has been acting weird. Pablo arrives, asks Marino why he hasn't been able to reach Regina. Marino says she's wild, maybe she's mad at what you said to her. Pablo smiles, this guy has balls to talk to me like that.
Coco meets with a guy who gives him money in a suitcase. The army bursts onto the scene, and Colonel Pedregal and his men shoot Coco dead. Out at Pablo's farm, Gonzo berates the Colonel, how could you do that?! This guy did all our work for us. Well, tough luck (de malas) says Pedregal. Listen to me. Just because I'm working with you doesn't mean I can ignore the security of my city. Security? Gonzo replies. Your city? I think we have a problem. Pedregal shoots back I don't have any problem. Bye. Gonzo does not look happy.
Guillermo's wife thinks he's being too tough on those narcos with his editorials. Isn't he taking a risk? Well, he has to do this. It's his duty. He hopes the extradition will work, and Colombia will get back to normal. But aren't you scared? A little. In a powerful scene, he tells his wife that he hasn't been threatened so far. But he has to do this.
Judge Melendez goes on national TV to tell the world what the judges have decided. As everyone watches, the good guys, the cartel members, the people on the street, the judge tells all that there have been many threats against the judges. We all know that. But we have not yielded to pressure, and we have based our decision on the law only.
My guess? They'll declare the extradition treaty unconstitutional anyway!
Thanks so much Hombre. I felt as if I were watching the episode.
With so much Olympics, my DVR overloaded and deleted last night's episode of Escobar.
Wow! Jiménez lived to fight another day. I hope he makes it to the end of the novela.
And they got Coco! Yay! That was one evil, sinister guy.
I remember in Thursday's episode when Pedregal offered to provide "security" for Jiménez and he tactfully refused. He must suspect something about Pedregal.
In which an elaborate lie causes grief for some, relief for others and satisfaction for those who have been crying for blood; and the sole eye witness is a liar!
Part 1 of 2
He is lying in the morgue –but so is she!
Diego’s mother and sister are grief-stricken at the sight of the body which lies on a table in the morgue. The mother assumes this is her son. Doc Antonia, the only one of the three who has actually seen the adult Diego, confirms the dead man’s identity. But is he really Diego?
We realize he is not when we see Antonia rushing off to Ezequiel for an explanation. (She may have boundary issues but she isn’t as dumb as we thought.)
Where in the world is Diego? Did Zeke murder the young man falsely identified as the niño monstruo?
Zeke explains that Diego has been “abducted”. He takes Doc Roundheels to the apartment where our hero is now being held.
Doc realizes the mafia must have been involved. Someone had to provide a body and arrange for the fake ID. Zeke, of course, says he did nothing wrong. On the contrary, by his complicity in Diego’s staged and public demise, he has made it possible for “Martín” to live freely and openly. The thirst for blood has been slaked. The catch, of course, is that now Zeke truly owns D-Mart.
For his part, D-Mart seems to have forgotten all about Zeke’s plans to exploit his “talent” for killing. He is grateful to be alive. (And the new apartment is not too shabby either.)
Doc has some qualms about D-Mart’s family mourning a son who is, in fact, alive. But how can she tell them without putting their son in jeopardy again?
D-Mart is learning how to lie
Just before Zeke leaves Antonia and D-Mart alone to “talk” -- and maybe check out the bathtub situation -- he takes the young man aside and asks him: Was he really staying at Mariana’s apartment Thursday night as her bodyguard? And was he the one who turned on the lights? He was and he did, fibs D-Mart. Just what Zeke wants to hear. He leaves Diego and Antonia to play doctor and from his limo orders roses – lots and lots of roses – for Mariana.
A pair of liars confront one another
Mariana, meanwhile, upbraids Luciano in his office, in front of the staff. Junior is furious and threatens to tell his father about their recent roll in the hay. But Mariana has Zeke under control – he won’t believe a word the little OedipusWannabe says.
Don’t believe what they say on tv – it’s all a bunch of lies
Veronica, with her breathtaking, nearly sociopathic lack of remorse, admits to Marcos that she isn’t interested in him or his big brother. She got what she needed from them. Later we see her trot out Luciano and Marcela on her program for a post-mortem interview (champagne toast to follow).
While these three are doing an electronic dance on Diego’s grave, his mother, sister and brother watch miserably at home. Then his father (or is he his stepfather?) Juan storms in and turns off the set. This is the last straw for the grieving mother. She blames Juan for forcing her to abandon her son to his fate 20 years ago and making her tell her other children their brother was dead. Now she wants him out! But Juan’s not going anywhere – it’s his house and his family. And he’s not letting that boy ruin his life. Again.
D-Mart and doc are watching too. Luciano’s interview (in which he describes Diego as an aggressive loner) triggers a flashback for D-Mart – a locker room prank when the bullies ganged up on him and stole his clothes while he was in the shower and he was forced to go out into the hallway wearing only a towel. He recalls the faces of the kids who mocked him; and he knows that Marcela wasn’t there.
D-Mart startles doc when he says: Marcela wasn’t my classmate!
But she’s the one who testified against you, says doc.
D-Mart stands his ground: That woman is an impostor!
Thanks for the great recap, Novelera. I must still have jetlag, I kept falling asleep.
I thought JM was behaving like an idiot. Here he thinks Ángela is dead and then when he finds out that she isn't, he angry at the people who didn't tell him and jealous of Gustavo? After what he did to Ángela, he should be humbly thanking God he might have another chance.
Why would Sam even consider D8D's offer to free Ángela? What can he possibly do?
Big Thanks to Novelera and Jean, our recappers this week. I am starting to wonder if Alex is a lost cause; that would be so sad. Miggy deserves some happiness. Yes, I think JM came across as a giant hole-in-the-ground last night. Making excuses for abandoning Angela, and not believing Miguel that she had been blackmailed to confess to the murders. JM better hope Angela never regains her memory...
J in Oregon
I also think that Alex may be a lost cause or will die tragically. I can't forget Fabiola and that Natalia told Miggy that he was really in love with Fabiola. Those things don't get said for no reason.
I think that trying to have Camilo impersonate the Rat is going to be a disaster. He was so bad the last time he did it. Why wouldn't Duval know that the Rat is dead?
Great recap, Novelera, I agree with your (and others') assessment of JM. He was really acting like a big baby, just thinking of himself, rather than thinking of Angela's health.
Jean, I think D8D is saying that he'll keep quiet about Angela, so she won't have to go back to jail, if Sam does something for him.
As for Camilo, I think Duval does know that the Rat is dead. But many of the underworld figures may not, so that's how Camilo could help. But yes, Camilo is going to have a tough time impersonating his tough as nails brother.
I had a laugh when one of the prisoners called the Reptile "cut face" (cara cortada). Of course, now they're all afraid to eat their meals, thanks to Nora's threats. Is it possible Nora will stop her blind support of Reptile after this choking thing (assuming Nora survives)?
I must admit I taped the show, and played it back with ENGLISH captions, so it was almost like cheating, and I was able to get more detail. I can only do this on weekends, when there's more time. In fact, when football season starts, I may not be able to do Monday nights. But I can always bring it current by the next day.
It's amazing that Escobar keeps getting away with things. Even Pedro is free again, and Marcos keeps escaping. Pablo even admitted to someone (Regina?) that the government has enough evidence to put him away. But so far, his threats, murders and bribes have made him untouchable.
Thanks for the recap, NovelaMaven. I'm watching this one, although I'm not loving too many of the characters. But I always like a mystery, and of course I have all the beautiful actresses to gawk at. Could Mariana wear any more revealing clothes? Her shoulders are bare, her skirt tiny. I approve.
Jean, I feel exactly the same as you with regard to JM. He should be down on his knees thanking the high heavens and all the powers that be.
JM's character turned out to be a great disappointment. I thought he was so charming in the beginning.
Miguel is the brains of this novela. He's grateful his sister is alive, and all JM thinks about is petty jealousy. True love is unselfish. No matter what kind of relationship Angela is having with Gus, JM should be
thankful and work things out with him man to man.
With regard to D8D's house, I cannot understand why anyone would want to live in it - it has so much DEVASTATION associated with it. Did Willy have something to do with building that house?
I hate to see more of the same fighting over Sam; EERIE ESTABAN
needs to give it up. The thought of finding Fabiola is still intriguing however. Then they can all be even more related with one another...if Fabiola is JM's sister and M and F marry.
INCONGRUENT and INCONSISTENT Lorena - one minute she's weak and fainting from no apparent cause, and the next minute she survives hanging by one hand from a high balcony, and she says she's fine - no problemas. That scene was actually rather hilarious, reminiscent of the Perils of Pauline.
Novelera or anyone, what was it that Alex had dreamed of doing or being someday? I could not hear it clearly when Miguel mentioned it. She was surprised that he still remembered. With his love for children and her history of drugs, it is questionable that he will want her to be the mother of his children. ..or even if she is capable of this. She sadly recognized that she may have ruined her chances.
I guess I am in the minority here regarding JM. In his defense: His character has gone through a lot in this TN world. I too would be upset if my spouse were alive and no one told me. Regarding his trust in Angela, she also shold hold part of the blame. She didn't trust him enough to tell him the truth even after his impassioned defense of her. He begged her to tall the truth and she didn't.
hi Jean,
in regards to your question,
"Why would Sam even consider D8D's offer to free Ángela? What can he possibly do?"
in case you weren't getting this, being on vacation and all,
there has been a subtle plot line weaving it's way through the story,
what would happen if Angela is found out?
and the conclusion was, she is a convicted serial killer, and an escaped felon,
so she would have to go back to jail,
of course she is innocent, etc, but it would take time to work this all out,
but Sammy and all know this,
that's why they were keeping Angela secret.
the Reptile,
(see her scar is getting better she must have molted once),
now that she knows Angela is alive,
(and Bernie sure knew how to play that card),
this is exactly what she wants, Angela back in prison,
and I think this is the deal she made with Bernie,
she kills Nora,
Bernie gets Angela back into prison,
(the least he can do since he is not a killer).
of course Bernie is never obligated to complete his side of the bargain.
at least this is how I was seeing this, if I got everything right.
so maybe Angela should drop the pastries,
and the too sweet smiles,
and go back into training,
for the great WWF prison smackdown
I agree with you, but let me put this another way,
both Angela and JM are walking disasters,
but they go well together because they like to share,
on the other hand I like Gus,
so maybe it's ok if she goes that route,
but,
then there are the kids,
Thanks for the great recap, novelera.
Floridia, Alex had dreamed of going to Venice with Miguel - before the kidnapping.
rumor, rumor, rumor,
I read at TW, as well as a couple of other places,
that Elizabeth Gutiérrez is leaving the show.
http://www.latingossip.com/novelas/telemundo-looking-to-replace-elizabeth-gutierrez.html
hmm,
after watching Elizabeth Gutiérrez in El Fantasma de Elena,
suffering through everything a multi disguised Ana Layevska could dish out,
including a dead baby that was switched with hers at birth,
I was rather enjoying her character Mariana,
this sweet soft spoken sexy lady,
out manipulating the men around her,
with a cute smile...
sfchicabonita
Yes, I too read about EG possibly not returning to this show. shame.
Donde Esta Elisa?
really liked this tn. wonderful cast.

and Also why doesn't Miggy get together with Nat, I mean her and Alex where in the same profession, right.
Sam asks D8D what he wants. He replies that if he can’t have her heart, her soul, then he wants her body.
The Reptile chokes Nora while telling her she’s killing her for choosing Ángela and for lying that she was dead. Then she can’t go through with it. She has a little pity party asking why everyone prefers Ángela to her. [Could it be because Ángela is not a cold-blooded killer?]
JM tells Ángela he knows she doesn’t remember him, but he loved her so much. He still loves her. She tells him he says sweet things and he’s very handsome, but what he says hurts her somehow.
Miggy tells the guy in the bar he wants to know who’s paying him and has the gun in his ribs. Willy seems pretty shocked to see this aspect of Miggy’s personality. He counts, he says up to 5, but the guy caves before that and says it’s Bernardo del Castillo. He tells the guy he won’t say he told, but he wants the camera. He finds the pictures in the camera. Miggy says to Willy that they’re screwed. D8D knows Ángela is alive.
Sam laughs at D8D. How could you even think that someday you’d have me? He says he has no doubt. He’s the man that loves her, the man that desires, and the man he knows could make her happy. He tells her he knows she’d give her life for Ángela, then why not a night of pleasure? He tells her then Ángela will be back in prison and within Fernanda’s grasp.
Gus asks JM what he said to Ángela. He tells him he told her that he loves her as much or more than ever, but he knows he’s a perfect stranger. He begs Gus’ pardon for the way he behaved before. He knows what Gus did for her. As he’s ready to leave, Ángela comes out and asks him not to leave.
D8D taunts Sam with sending Ángela back to prison. She pulls a gun on him, but just laughs. He knows she won’t kill him.
Nora tells the Reptile that she loves her even though she tried to choke her to death. She tells her very movingly about how she was the baby whose diapers she changed. Fernanda was a happy child, singing all the time. Nora tells the Reptile that she didn’t choose Ángela. When Ángela arrived at the prison, she got Nora over her sadness. She showed her pictures of her two children. Before that she was like a dead person. This doesn’t move the ball for the Reptile.
Some ugly thug comes in and disarms Sam and takes her cell phone. He says she couldn’t have thought he’d just let her get the best of him. With the help of the thug he gets his arms around her and, gah, licks her face.
Ángela is talking to JM and showing him her best cakes.
Miggy says they have to get Ángela away. Willly goes to look for Sam.
D8D has Sam tied up and says he’s going to enjoy himself before denouncing Ángela to the police. When he touches her, she bites his hand, drawing blood. When he tries to kiss her, she bites his mouth. Cecilia shows up and hears Sam scream. D8D tells Sam he’s not a rapist, but wants the day when she’s his that she will want it as much as he does. He forces another kiss on her.
Miggy tells Ángela she has to leave or she’ll be arrested. Gus says he’ll stay because they’ll come to the bakery for her. Ángela says she’ll give herself up. Miggy orders her to go with JM; he says he’s her brother. Both Gus and Miggy tell Ángela to go with JM.
Cecilia calls Miggy to tell him she heard Sam scream inside D8D’s office. Gus goes along with Miggy. Sam gets loose from the ropes and bashes the bodyguard with a vase. He hits her very hard and she’s knocked out. He then calls D8D telling him things got complicated.
D8D is at Duval’s office pretending he got the photos of Ángela anonymously. He’s come to formally denounce the escaped prisoner.
JM takes Ángela to a hotel.
Miggy and Gus fight off D8D’s bodyguards.
The Reptile says she can’t wait for Ángela to get to prison. Nora says she has to stop this.
JM is talking too much. He tells Ángela that Nora is the mother of Fernanda del Castillo, the woman from the newspaper articles. She can’t believe she did it all for the love of a man. JM replies it was for him. He then tells Ángela she was his wife. She gets upset that she can’t remember being married to him.
Sam is OK. She tells Miggy about D8D going to turn Ángela in, and Miggy tells her they’re on it. She tells him not to tell Willy about what D8D did. She’s afraid of what he might do. [What? Why can’t she go straight to the police and file charges against him for holding her against her will, tied up? Oh, right, this is a telenovela and he has to be free to wreak more havoc!]
Duval calls Gus telling him he has no choice but to come for Ángela.
Sam comes home. Willy is beside himself wanting to know where she was. D8D calls her cell saying he’s patient; sooner or later she’ll be with him. Miggy gets into the car pointing a gun at him. Go ahead, Miggy, shoot him! He tells him to start the car and drive.
When Duval and other cops show up, Gus tells them he doesn’t know whom they’re talking about.
Sam and Willy are getting busy when Nico knocks on the door. He’s come to say he was so worried about his mother that his heart hurt. Willy deadpans: “And let a frog spit at me, eh?” Sam and Nico crack up. Nic says that he thinks D8D is wrong; that Willy does make his mother happy.
Miggy tells D8D he isn’t going to kill him, just teach him how to treat women. He points a gun at his crotch, telling him one shot would finish his career as a man. He says he’s going to kill him in life, like he did to Nora. Miggy then tells him that, if he ever touches a hair on Sam’s head, he will kill him. Miggy puts him out of the car, without cell phone, in the middle of nowhere.
Miggy is training Camilo to shoot. After his first shot he tells him that he was a little worse than bad!
D8D also has photos of Alex locked up in a box. Dante comes to see the evil bastard, and he says he has an interesting offer. Meanwhile, Miggy has found a rehab center for Alex. She tells him how much she loves him. He tells her not to let him down. He doesn’t know how to forgive and he never forgets.
Willy gives Sam an engagement ring, while Nico looks on.
Gus says he’s thinking of rejoining the police department in Duval’s office. The Reptile shows up with her lawyer and says she had two accomplices: Luis Martínez and Ángela Valdez.
JM is embracing Ángela. He drops a photo, and when she sees it tells her it’s of their child. The cops have found her and come to arrest her. I guess Dummy Duval rides again. He apparently believes the Reptile and now has new charges to place against Ángela.
Sure enough, the Supreme Court says the extradition treaty is unconstitutional! Cartel members cheer, good guys are disappointed.
Marcos is worried that Jiménez and crew are still after him. Don’t worry, says Pablo, we’ll get him. We see Jiménez at a shooting range, trying to get his wife to take lessons. She won’t. But 14 year old son Alonso will, to his Mom’s dismay.
Regina is roughly accosted in her hotel room by a livid Pablo. Clutching his fingers around her neck, he tells her “from now on, you’ll come when I call, got it?” He almost rapes her, then backs off with a sinister smile, leaving her visibly shaken.
The mole (whose name is Jorge, I think, that’s what I’ll use) calls Jiménez from a pay phone. He says, good news and bad news. The good news is Coco is dead, the bad news is....Marino puts a gun to his head, hangs up the phone, I’ll show you some bad news!
We see young Yesenia on a bus with her brother Javi. They’re going to visit Pablo.
Marino hustles Jorge before Pablo. Jorge tries to say Marino is overreacting, but Pablo doesn’t buy it for one second. If you do it the easy way, we’ll go with the hard way (por las malas). They take Jorge off to be tortured.
Guillermo interviews the current President, a new guy. This guy is very meek. He’d sort of like to go after the cartel, but with all those murders of judges.... Guillermo is disappointed at this guy’s spinelessness. Luis, on the other hand, is giving speeches saying we won’t give up, we’ll pursue extradition, we just have to adjust the treaty language to make it stand up in court.
Jiménez is discouraged. He’s got so many bodyguards, he feels as if HIS family is in jail, while the punks are free.
Yesenia arrives at Nápoles, and is greeted by a cordial (but suspicious Enelia).
General Ulloa tells Jiménez about Coco being killed. Jiménez says he lost contact with his informant (Jorge). Jiménez wants to get back on the case actively. The general will consider this.
Pablo has to take time out from torturing Jorge to meet with Yesenia. It’s no surprise to me what she tells him. She’s pregnant with his baby!
Thanks for the recap, Hombre. I'm reading what you have to say even more avidly than in the past because I've decided to go caption-free and work on my Medellín street dialect. You never know when it might come in handy. :)
(I record the show, watch it and immediately erase it. While I'd probably get more, language-wise, from watching the episode twice, it is usually so disturbing that it's all I can do to get through it once.)
Maybe Enelia's reception of Yesenia struck you as "cordial" -- me, I would have been shaking in my shoes. But of course WE have Enelia's number and Yesenia does not, at least not yet.
Thanks for the recap, Novelera. Yes, why would anyone believe the Reptile? She lied and schemed for the whole show. Now in prison, she was acting insane (don't know if they dropped that one). So if she says Luis and Angela were her accomplices, that's believable?
I think D8D could be in jail for a number of things he's done, including, poisoning, kidnapping, etc. Of course, every character in this show (except maybe Arturo) could be put in jail for assault, in that they point guns at people's heads. Certainly Miggy, Sam, Bernardo, Jefe, Willy, Dante, Gus and I think JM have all done this.
Sam is a great fighter, but she didn't do too well against D8D's bodyguard.
If Angela does go to jail, one would think, given her precarious mental state, she'd be placed in a separate part of the jail from the Reptile. Yes, one would think that, if one didn't know this was a telenovela.
Belated thanks, NovelaMaven, for that stellar recap of Friday's episode. I was behind on Rostro, mostly because of the Olympics. Loved Oedipus Wannabe! And "electronic dance on Diego's grave".
I'm sorry, I gotta say this, and hope no one is offended. How more obvious could they be that Luciano is the real niño monstruo? I suppose it could be a red herring. But it would explain a lot. Ezekiel knew his baby boy was the real bad kid. Marcela (I think that's the name of the fake student who testified) lied to get the blame put on D-Mart. And Ezekiel, maybe, got him out because of pangs of guilt (or some reason we don't know).
So the whole show is going to be him slowly regaining his memory and proving his innocence? Not sure it's worth it. The acting is pretty good.
Thanks so much for the recap, Hombre.
Wow, that scene with Regina and Escobar scared me. He looked positively demonic. I hope they're not going to show her having to have sex with him to save her life.
Yes, Enelia surely did smell something coming from Yesenia. And she's all-in invested in Escobar's marriage to Paty, so Yesenia would be crushed like a bug if she threatened that.
What do we think about the Supreme Court's decision? Is it as wrong-headed as Citizens United? [Sorry, couldn't resist.]
I guess what I meant about the court was do we think they actually thought extraditing Colombian citizens was illegal? Or were they caving in because of fear for their lives?
I'm starting to be a bit suspicious of the general. It could, of course, be that he wants to keep Jiménez safe. Or it could be that he doesn't want quite such a capable guy after the cartel because he's corrupt.
Hats off to you, NovelaMaven, for watching the novela "without a net". I'm too invested in wanting to know exactly what they're plotting to try watching without Spanish captions. My TV is a senior citizen and doesn't get CC3, so English is off the table.
So is the Reptile's lawyer's strategy to make her appear insane or to have her plead guilty but incriminate Angela?
Willy was so cute giving the ring to Sam. We can have their wedding all over again.
Thanks, Novelera!
I'm not sure I would mind a tidy ending like that. In any case, I like the actors too. Of course if Deb and Shallowgal are right and EG is leaving, that could have a negative effect.
Novelera, I was pretty sure the court was acting out of fear, not out of conscience.
And yes, that scene between Regina and Pablo was ghastly.
Jean, I have no idea what the Reptile's lawyer's strategy is. I suspect she'll force him to do what SHE wants in any case.
It looked like she WAS planning to convince the court she was crazy.
But, her plan to say Ángela was a co-conspirator seems almost as if she'd rather "get" Ángela than get off on an insanity defense. Because, obviously, she looked her same old wily (sane) self when she met with Duval.
And, of course, she's told her mother that she's going to get out. And, I'd be very surprised if we didn't end up with a typical last week or so when she is loose and trying to kill people!
Muchas gracias Novelera. I continue to be disgusted by Dummy Duval. Why would he do anything based on the Reptile's testimony?! So she could accuse anyone and they'd go arrest them? Oh please!
Angie is arrested.
The Reptile tells Duval and Gustavo that she threatened Angie to make her confess to the murders to hide her own guilt but she claims that Angie was her accomplice in all the crimes. The Reptile blames JM for making her into a murderer because of his indifference and maltreatment of her. Nobody articulates a motive for Angie to murder all these people. The Reptile says that Angie wanted to marry JM for his money but that would only be a motive for her to murder Isabel.
Miggy encourages Alex to go to rehab when she is released from the hospital.
Sam reassures Nic that if she and Willy get married, if won’t affect Nic’s relationship with Estéban. Willy tells Nic that one day he will call him Papa.
Gustavo says that Duval can’t believe what the Reptile claimed about Angie. Naturally, Dummy Duval finds the Reptile’s statement very convincing. Gustavo tells Duval that Angie is innocent but Duval replies that Angie might be manipulating him the same way that she manipulated JM.
Sam is trying to teach Camilo to fight while Willy makes snide comments from ringside. Sam gets annoyed and Willy jumps into the ring. Sam trounces him. [Is “agua” the equivalent of “uncle” in Spanish? That’s what Willy yells when Sam has him pinned.] Willy tells her that since he is unemployed after leaving his father’s business, he will open a modeling agency.
D8D smirks to Ofélia that now he will have his wife, his daughter and Angie together in prison.
Gustavo tells Duval that he want to rejoin the police to help clear Angie. Duval asks if he loves Angie that much.
Dante comes to see Alex and offers her $50K for a half-hour job. She is interested but cautious.
In a cute scene, Willy accuses Sam of being jealous of his plan to open a modeling agency. She denies it and Camilo tries to stay out of the argument. Then Sam gets a text that Angie has been arrested.
Ofélia tells Nora that she had a child with Darío but Nora says that D8D is her true love. [Rodrigo gets mentioned again for the first time in a long time.]
The Reptile greets Angie’s arrival at the police station.
Sam tells Willy that she wants to do more to help her sister - such as sleeping with D8D. She has to explain what happened with D8D the other night. Willy is furious to find out about what D8D did to Sam.
Willy bursts into D8D’s office and hits his father and warns him never to come near his woman or his children again or he will kill him.
Angie gets sent to the big house. She wants to spend her final minutes of freedom with Gustavo, not JM.
Sam tells Angie that they are sisters and Miggy chimes in that he is her brother.
Somehow Willy and D8D are in cars in an isolated area. Willy is trying to run D8D off the road but his car gets hit by a big truck.
Nora and Angie have a happy reunion in prison until the Reptile tells Angie that she is as guilty as the Reptile.
Dante comes to see D8D and they negotiate some kind of deal. D8D says that he will say good things about him to Verdugo. [Just had a thought - what if Rodrigo is Verdugo?]
Sam is going to try and help Nic with his homework - she says that she was a better student than Willy but was much better in sports than math. Then she gets the call about Willy’s accident.
At the hospital, Miggy tells Sam that the doctors say that Willy was seriously injured and that a witness to the accident says that Willy was pursuing another car. [For some reason, Miggy communicates with Willy’s doctors and then tells Sam. I guess the producers don’t have to pay someone to put on scrubs. Let’s not even talk about the HIPAA requirements that prohibit a non-relative from getting patient information.]
Alex rejects Dante’s offer.
JM tells Génesis and Violeta that thre's good news and bad news: Ángela is alive but she is in prison.
The Reptile tells Angie about her marriage with the Rat and about her daughter Violeta.
Camilo comes to see Sam at the hospital to give her a note from Lorena. She has left town. Earlier, we saw D8D making a call asking Lorena to come and see him.
Once again, Miggy communicates medical information about Willy to Sam. He tells Sam that Willy is in intensive care and the prognosis is guarded.
Miggy has left Alex alone all day and that has decided her to accept Dante’s offer, which is apparently to turn a trick with a very special client. Surprise, surprise, it’s D8D.
Another random person, this time Estéban, gets information from the police and tells Sam that the license plate of the car Willy was pursuing was registered to D8D. [Why aren’t the police arresting D8D for leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury?] Sam immediately concludes, with some justification, that the accident is her fault.
Gustavo closes the bakery and lays off the employees. Duval shows up and says that Gustavo is welcome back on the police and can work with him. He says that Gustavo should return to the police for himself, not to help Angie. He warns that once Angie gets her memory back, she will return to JM.
JM goes to see Angie in prison. Angie is confused by all the things that the Reptile has told her. Maybe she is guilty. How is JM sure that she is innocent?
Miggy gets a call and then catches Alex in bed with D8D.
Sam and Nic are in Willy’s hospital room. Sam tells him to fight, etc. She and Nic take his hand and say that they will be the family that he always wanted. Nic calls Willy, “papa” and Willy reacts. It’s a miracle!
I won’t reveal the previews of Wednesday’s episode but we’ve already had the telenovela conventions of post-traumatic paralysis (Genesis) and amnesia (Angela). What’s left?
Fabuous job Jean. I didn't see last night's, although I did record. Doesn't sound like there is much I actually want to see. Dummy Duval as dumb as usual. Can we add some more 'Ds' to his name too?
Paralysis and amnesia...blindness is the only thing we haven't had yet. Could that be Willy's fate?
You get the prize, Vivi! I'm guessing here based on what I saw but I'd be surprised if I was wrong.
You didn't miss too much in last night's episode but the scene in the boxing ring with Camilo, Sam and Willy was very cute. It's nice to have them back to their usual affectionate bickering for even a short time.
Yesenia’s brother Javier says why did you have to get pregnant by a married man?
Enelia has a talk with Pablo. I know the score. Listen, Pablo, you don’t pick your parents. But you ARE supposed to pick your children, and whom you have them with. A child is a blessing. But the child of an amante is not a blessing. Making a child is a holy act, and your cathedral is named Patricia.
Jiménez’s wife is mad that their son has a gun in his room.
Cartel meeting. Pablo has a new plan. He sends a press release to the newspapers and television, calling himself and his buddies the “extradictables”, and the government people the “extradictors”. We Colombians want to be judged here. The people should resist these horrible extradictors, or we’ll have to take “extreme measures.”
Pablo tells Gonzo, I’m in a bit of a bollo (a mess, a pickle, a jam). I knocked up that kid Yesenia. Gonzo thinks it’s a little amusing, but they have to take care of it. Later, he gives Pablo an envelope of plata (cash). Pablo meets Yesenia at an outdoor restaurant and gives her the envelope, see, I’m being responsible for my actions. Yesenia is offended, what’ll I tell my son, you never see your father he just sends money? No, girl, you won’t tell him anything. Because this money is for your abortion! She throws down the envelope and walks out. Pablo is not going to take this lightly.
Jiménez is in a jeep, change of plans, let’s go to Medellin. He meets with Pedregal, I want to take out Escobar. I’m not sitting around. You’ll either help me, or I’ll just do it on my own.
Guillermo’s newspaper calls the cartel cowards for their campaign of the extradictables.
Gonzalo, dressed in his robe, answers the door. It’s Jiménez, in shirt and jeans, apparently unarmed. I’m not afraid of you, says Jairo. The whole cartel is searching for me. Well, here I am. Want to do something about it? Gonzalo tells Pablo, who laughs, this guy has balls. Therefore, I PERSONALLY will take him out. Let’s see what we can do with his little infiltrator.
Jorge is bloody, just about dead from his torture by Marino and Chili, when his beeper goes off. It’s probably Jiménez. Chili gets a big smile on his face. Time for action!
Thanks, Jean! Yes, the craziness keeps mounting. Lorena leaving again? Alex having sex with D8D because Miggy leaves her alone for a few hours? Another car accident? Angela put right in the same cell with the Reptile and Nora? Gustavo back on the force? Duval finding Fernanda "convincing"? Right.
Thanks so much, Jean. It's true the episode was pretty sad; but, as usual, lots happens.
They pretty much telegraphed that Alex was not going to be Miggy's long-term novia by all the whining she did in the hospital. My feeling about Miggy is that he needs, and likely wants, a strong woman, someone like Sam if she were not his sister. I thought she was offered $25K, but whatever. She burned her bridges with Miggy for sure.
It seems to me like Dimwitted, Dull, Dense, Deficient, Dummy Duval is jumping on the Reptile's story to get back his credibility for having hounded the wrong woman before. I was kind of hoping Gustavo would rat him out about shooting a fellow officer before because of his smug attitude about Ángela.
That was a pretty dumb scene with Willy and D8D in the cars. He'd already punched him out and threatened to kill him if he approached Sam or his children. Maybe I've got the sequence wrong. Did Sam tell him about D8D's "proposition" before or after he stormed into his office?
Did D8D see what happened to Willy's car? I thought they showed him grinning like a Cheshire cat after Willy crashed. Really? He feels nothing when a semi hits his child?
Have they shown El Verdugo? I thought he might have been one of the older guys who tied Miggy to a chair at the Luna Azul.
I'm a bit confused about what happened with Miggy. He got a text or a video or something and then went to the club to find Alex and D8D? If that were the case, why wouldn't D8D wait to send it until he'd "finished" and gotten safely away from the club. Miggy is always packing. Of course, we know he's not going to kill him. That miserable SOB won't go out until the last episode!
Why does Nora even speak to Ofelia? I feel like slapping her face every time she appears on screen.
Great recap, Hombre. I am holding my breath every episode for Jairo Jiménez. I understand, a bit, his wife's point of view. But she should realize what kind of man she married, a man who won't quit.
Jairo's face-to-face meetings with Pedregal fascinate me. The actor managed to communicate, without saying anything, that he knows Pedregal is on the cartel's payroll.
I think it should be los extraditables without the "c". And we heard for the first time something they used over and over: Preferimos una tumba en Colombia a una cárcel en Estados Unidos.
Guillermo Cano is the voice of reason and expresses the viewpoint usually of the good people of Colombia. He and Galán are completely disgusted that the Medellín Cartel's "communique" is read on thee evening news as if it were somehow valid.
It sounded to me like Escobar has come up with the idea to use Jorge to get to Jiménez.
The actress playing Enelia is fabulous. That speech about the wife being the cathedral was amazing.
You make a lot of good points, Novelera. I don't think we've seen Verdugo yet. And I almost thought the previews showed a new female character, although that could be wrong.
Speaking of Ofelia, I sort of felt once again her expression or something she said showed she is really the Reptile's mother, even though Nora doesn't seem to have any doubts that SHE is Fernanda's mother. Maybe I'm just projecting.
You're right, Novelera, I wasn't spelling extradite correctly. I guess I was thinking it was like the word "indict". I also felt the actress playing Enelia gave a powerful performance.
Thanks, Novelera.
I think that Miggy finding Alex with D8D was part of the deal D8D made with Dante. You're right, D8D knows that Miggy isn't going to to shoot him. D8D may not realize that Miggy isn't in love with Alex and thinks that he can hurt Miggy with this betrayal.
Jean and novelera, thanks for the great recaps.
I too think DD wanted to torment Miggy. Even if he isn't in love with Alex anymore, it's awful to see that scene!
I agree with novelera, Miggy needs a strong fearless compañera.
Jean and NovelaObserver, yes, I understood D8D wanting to make Miggy suffer. He did, after all, tell him in the car that Miggy should have killed him because he was going to make him die in life (a peculiarly Spanish pronouncement I've heard a lot that doesn't translate well).
I guess what I meant was that Miggy would surely have suffered if he'd just seen photos or a video and that it wasn't necessary for him to catch them en flagrante. Less dramatic, true!
novelera, yes, a picture would have been less dramatic for us and less painful for Miggy. Besides, with a pic he would have had enough time to think and decide how to react. I'm not sure if they think of all these details though :)
Miggy has a fantasy about killing D8D when he catches him in bed with Alex. Then he is arrested. But unfortunately, at least about the killing D8D part, it is only a fantasy. In reality, Miggy tells D8D that there’s a long prison term for homicide and neither of them is worth it.
Nic tells the unconscious Willy that Willy have him the ability to go forward and now he begs Willy to get better so that they can do all the father and son things that they haven’t had the opportunity to do.
Alex runs after Miggy and begs him to forgive her. He replies that he told her many times that he doesn’t know how to forgive. Alex didn’t believe him but now she knows that it is true.
JM tells Angie that it was the Reptile who forced her to confess to the murders by threatening to harm her child.
D8D pays Dante and says that he likes to do business with him.
Camilo tells Sam that he can stay with her at the hospital. His illusion has left but he assures Sam that Lorena won’t fail her.
The Reptile tells Nora to help her destroy Angie or the Reptile will destroy them both. Angie comes back to the cell and tells the Reptile that JM said that she lied. The Reptile replies that JM is naive and believes the people around him. If that were not so, why did JM marry her when he thought Angie was dead.
Alex comes to Miggy’s apartment but Miggy tells her to pack up her stuff and leave. D8D calls Miggy to gloat about Alex. Miggy tells him that Willy is in the hospital because of D8D.
Sam encourages Willy to wake up. She tells him that she won’t object to his starting a modeling agency.
Duval comes to see D8D and says that he has to come to the police station.
Miggy confesses to Sam that he never really loved Alex. He says that his heart is anesthetized. He is beginning to wonder if there is any woman for him. Sam hopes that he can find love.
Angie seems to get non-stop visitors in prison. Gustavo comes to tell her that he has returned to the police and closed the bakery. She tells him not to come back to see her.
Peralta tells JM that there is news from Colombia. Fabiola has reappeared. Someone has to go to Colombia and get her.
Willy wakes up. As we guessed, he can’t see. He calls over and over for Sammy while she tries to comfort him.
Gustavo tells Angie that he won’t stop visiting her. He knows that she is innocent. He paints a rosy future where she is released from prison and comes back to him to run the bakery.
JM says that he can’t go to Colombia because of Angie’s situation. He doesn’t think that Miggy can go either so Peralta volunteers to go.
Duval questions D8D about Willy’s accident. D8D sheds crocodile tears and claims that if anyone was at fault in the accident, it was Willy and that appears to be the end of it.
Dante pays Alex and wishes her good luck on her future endeavors.
The Reptile is really bummed that Angie has yet another guy (Gustavo) in love with her.
Angie tells Nora that Willy was in a car accident and is in critical condition.
Once again, Miggy transmits information from the doctors to Sam and Nic. After testing, it appears that Willy’s blindness is the result of retinal damage rather than brain damage. Nic asks if Willy’s blindness is permanent and Miggy replies that nothing in this life is forever.
Peralta tells Camilo that it will be hard for Emma to learn that she isn’t an Arroyo.
Emma tells JM that she has a bad feeling that the appearance of Fabiola will change their live forever.
Alex leaves a note for Miggy. She will try and get clean and if she succeeds, she will try and find him again.
Sam shows up a D8D’s office and punches him.
Willy is not adjusting to being blind.
Now Peralta can’t go to Colombia because his father is ill so Miggy volunteers to go.
The Reptile tells her lawyer that she wants Angie to be alive and in prison for the rest of her life.
The writers are really hammering Miggy’s romantic situation, which is, of course, about to change. He tells Cecilia that he’s not a lovin’ kind of guy.
Gustavo tells JM that he returned to the police force to help Angie.
D8D has the brass ones to come and see Willy in the hospital. Sam orders him to leave.
In Colombia, Miggy is warned not to take Fabiola to the States. He doesn’t understand what the problem is. She isn’t ill.
Emma warns Peralta not to lie to her. [Of course, no one is going to tell Emma that she isn’t an Arroyo until the disclosure will have the worst consequences.]
JM brings the children to see Angie. She doesn’t recognize them. [What an awful thing to do to Violeta and Genesis! Even if they’ve been told that Angie doesn’t remember, it must be traumatic, especially for Violeta, to be with a woman who doesn’t remember that she is her mother.]
Miggy is told that Fabiola has escaped from the police station. Miggy tells the police to find her while he returns to his hotel. We see someone watching him.
Angela laments to JM that she can’t remember her children. JM tells her how much they were in love and moves in for a kiss, when Gustavo interrupts.
A woman, presumably Fabiola, attacks Miggy in his hotel room and puts a knife to his throat. So this is going to be sort of a Pygmalion story where Fabiola has gone native in the jungle and Miggy has to civilize her and of course he will fall in love with her.
The message on Jorge’s beeper actually WAS from his mother. Pablo comes in, says if this guy hasn’t said anything, he must be innocent. Untie him. Very ostentatiously, Pablo tells Marino, You know, Jiménez really showed balls by going to Medellin and going into Gonzalo’s house unarmed. I like guys like that. The mission to kill Jiménez is off! And Jorge, my son, we’ll send you to a doctor. I’m really sorry we had to do this, but you can’t be too careful. (We all know this whole thing is a trap by Pablo).
Javier and Yesenia have set up a baby crib. Javi asks, why not take the money? No way, says Yesi, the baby will just have a mother, that’s enough. And an uncle, of course! The phone rings, Pablo has sent a helicopter for Yesenia. She’s suspicious, but Gonzalo talks her into going to see Pablo, who is really sorry (oh no, not again).
We see Jorge call Jairo, telling him, I might get killed for this, and this’ll be the last time we talk, but guess what? They called off the hit on you, because you went to Medellin. Say what? The phone is hung up, and we don’t know for sure if Jiménez believes this.
At Nápoles, Pablo tells Yesenia he’ll take care of the baby. And to show his good faith, he even has a present. Now close your eyes....As she does, Gonzo brings out the trusty chloroform, and Yesenia’s out like a light. The take her to a barn, bring out a doctor, and he does an abortion on the unconscious young girl!!! When she wakes up, she curses Pablo, but they drug her again, put her back into the helicopter, and ship her back to Medellin, where Marino is assigned to keep a watch on her, but provide her with whatever she needs.
Letitia, Amazonas: In a jungle town, the local newspaper guy, Carlos, is on the phone with Guillermo Cano. Remember that slimy guy who gave a campaign contribution to Rodrigo Bonilla Lara, one Chrisanto Pérez. Well he’s got quite an operation going here. Is he in the cartel? No, but he’s got lots of drug dealings with Pablo Escobar. We need proof, says Guillermo. We later see Carlos take a picture of Pérez in a restaurant. Unfortunately, he’s a bit too noisy, and 5 guys stand up and follow Carlos. They take the camera, rip out the film, and are very menacing. I’m not sure getting any proof against Pérez will be possible.
Jairo’s kids are off to school. Across the street, Chili and Topo are watching. Hey, boss, he has WAY less guards. It’s working.
We see Gonzalo telling Pablo about Carlos mucking up things out in the jungle. Jorge is listening, and you can see that Pablo’s purposely ignoring this, knowing full well that Jorge is a traitor to him. We also hear that Mariachi wants to kill Jiménez himself, but I think Pablo will try to beat him to it.
Yesi is in her room, being guarded by Marino. Javi comes home, gets upset when Yesi tells him, they killed my baby! But Marino pulls out a gun, and they don’t do anymore. Somehow, we get the hint that Marino, the tough guy, feels a little sorry for Yesenia.
In the jungle, a helicopter lands. Out come Pablo, Gonzalo, Peluche and Fabio. They even brought Jorge. Pablo is going to take care of business.
And oh IS HE! The previews are shocking!
Great recap, Jean, I just love your deadpan delivery of the night's ridiculous events.
I'm a little hesitant to admit it, but I found last night's episode rolling on the floor hilarious! Especially Willy with the blindness thing. Has there ever BEEN so much overacting! For those of you who found it moving and touching, I'm sorry, but I found it comical. Maybe I'm a little twisted. I sometimes get the feeling that the actors all know how preposterous this novela is (but still fun to watch on many levels), and behind their super serious and dire expressions, they're trying mightily not to giggle.
It's as if the show works on two levels. The traditional novela watchers take it very seriously, and are destroyed with each horrific or tragic event. But some of us, while appreciating the drama, also appreciate the almost campy humor that comes with so many telenovela conventions. I think I'm in group 2.
Jean, anyone but Alex for Miggy!
Thanks for the recap and your comments, which are so true.
I never liked Emma (except for the one time when she was honest with one of the girls), but I don't think she deserves to be kept in the dark.
I'm with you in group 2, Hombre. I found Willy's performance almost embarrassing. Sure, it would be awful to suddenly become blind but is all that screaming and crying really necessary? This is especially true when we all know that it won't be permanent.
Back from London! (And now up to date with what has been going on)
Of course when I’m away all sorts of secrets are revealed! The truth about Fernanda is out and she is arrested; Vicente, Nelly and the incest storyline are dead; everyone knows Angie is alive and she is arrested; Alejandra appears and is back with Miggy and then not anymore; Sam knows that Miguel is her father and even those darn cameras have been discovered! I guess it’s time for new stories and secrets, like Willy being blind, Camilo going undercover, the Fabiola&Miggy romance and more prison stories. Thanks for the recaps and comments! I have too much to say, but I can’t.
I liked how Vicente went out after bringing down Fernanda and letting her know that it was him as well as throwing the whole "Ángela is alive" in her face.
Nelly’s death was another random one and disappointing. I suppose it’s not a proper kidnapping (albeit fake) if nobody dies.
I loved Nora and Willy’s reunion of course. Fernanda and Nora’s reunion was less great. I get that Nora loves her daughter and it least she isn’t like Ofelia, but I’d like her to be a little harder on a serial killer. (For goodness sake, Fernanda even intended to KILL her) I like the times that Fernanda shows a speck of human emotion, but she is a lost cause.
The incest story… I think that it could have been handled a lot better. Such storylines don’t bother me IF they're interesting/handled well, but this didn’t have a point besides show that apparently Willy’s love is a lot stronger than Sam’s and highlighted how Sam’s character has changed since the beginning. She used to be smart, strong, independent and courageous… but has gradually lost those qualities. There was absolutely no need to marry El Jefe. Besides, that little drama lasted about one episode. Also, how ironical and hypocritical of her to get angry when Willy jokingly said he’d remarry three years after her death and it takes her 1 freaking MONTH. The writers really need to do a lot to redeem her character to me. I do like Sam and Willy, but the reunion fell flat to me, because of Sam’s horribleness. Willy forgave her too easily as well, but that was to be expected. I wish we’d got a scene in which Sam admitted her stupidity concerning El Jefe, like JM did with Fernanda. Well, at least maybe this blindness storyline gives a chance to show her in a different light and emphasise qualities that seem to have disappeared, because she needs to be strong.
I thought it was ridiculous that Nico’s part in concealing the secret was just brushed off, "because he’s a child". As if kids aren’t told off or punished when they do something wrong. Besides, he IS old enough to understand what he was doing. (He’s a teenager, not a toddler). In fact, Nico DID understand, KNEW what he did was wrong recognised his own selfishness (he did notice that Sam was suffering as well) and that was the reason he ended up coming clean. The kid has a lot more understanding than Bernie or El Jefe and it would be nice if he weren’t treated like a little boy. I liked the scenes at the hospital and how he finally did call Willy "Dad".His character shows more promise now when he is less around El Jefe.
However, why is El Jefe still hanging around? Doesn’t Nico know about the voyeurism? Wouldn’t it be enough to not want the sick freak anywhere near them? I don’t understand what sort of person Jefe is supposed to be. It’s as if he just acted like a big jerk and made some mistakes, but isn’t really considered a bad guy. Would the fact that he had Sam locked up in a mental hospital change that? (That’s one secret that hasn’t been revealed)
I liked that both Sam and Willy finally punched D8D. That was long overdue. (Although oddly, in the last case D8D was less at fault. Willy was an emotionally unstable reckless driver after Sam blurted out something she knew would have drastic consequences)
I needed many of those details.
RE Nicolas, he still leaves me cold; I cannot warm up to him. There are many cute young actors who could have been more suited for the role. As one example, viewers of STUD will remember Chuy who really knew how to tug at heart strings. Offhand, I cannot think of any others, but I am certain that novela pros could
name some names. One of the cute young girl actors stole the show in La Verdad Oculta, and there was a young boy in that as well, but I cannot remember him clearly.
I was glad to see that Miggy got a shower and perhaps a change of clothes.
Thanks, Jean, great job on the recap. Your aside about the visit by Génesis and Violeta intrigued me. I hadn't really thought of that. My guess is that Génesis could withstand anything. The kid is very self-confident. Violeta? You're probably right. Although, seeing her mother alive after going through the awful trauma of both parents dying might just do her good, even though Ángela doesn't recognize her.
Welcome back, Kihaku. Were you attending some Olympic events?
Actually, I bought Fabián Ríos performance upon discovering his character is blind. I didn't find it overdone. Willy has always been portrayed as very emotional, both in his highs and his lows. So, it worked for me.
Kihaku, I guess the reason for our seeing so much of El Jefe is that Nicolás still loves him and views him as his father. So, just like in a divorced parents situation, there are the awkward meetings when the "hand-off" of the child is done. And, not sure whether you saw episodes or got it from the recaps, but El Jefe swore to D8D that he was not giving up his desire to have Sam. So he's likely taking advantage of his adoptive parent status to spend time around Sam.
Thanks, Hombre. This gets tougher and tougher to watch as the doom grows.
I find Marino odd, to say the least. If I remember correctly, he was Regina's driver that Escobar offered triple salary to leave her.
So, from being a driver for a television personality he effortlessly segues into participation in torturing a man (Jorge)? Yes, he did seem to feel something for Yesenia, but his earlier behavior seemed odd to me. HE was the one who overheard Jorge talking to Jairo and was pushing in a most evil way for him to be outed as the sapo.
Thanks once again, Hombre. Excellent job!
Novelera, I wonder if Marino's reaction to Yesenia's fate reflects the fact that Pablo has crossed a line. Even in the warped moral universe of narcos and sicarios, forcing an abortion on a young girl -- especially one you are involved with and who trusts you -- is wrong.
Jean your recap hit all the high notes--thanks! I am giving thanks this week for not having to look at Lorena's pasty, martyred face. :o) It still cracks me up that condemned killers and prisoners awaiting trail are all thrown in together...in the County Jail! And there's revolving door that lets anyone come in and visit prisoners, anytime they want?
J in Oregon
Thanks for the great recap.
I rarely find any moment of this novela "moving". To me, its sentimental stuff is too exaggerated (and conventional) to be taken seriously. I watch it rather for the entertaining scenes. For sure many of the viewers were touched when Nic said "papa" and Willy moved his finger, but I just wanted to FF through that scene. Very true, "the show works on two levels".
Florida, I agree that the character of Nic should have been played by a better actor. The only good point about him is that he amazingly looks like Fabian Rios! As if they are real Father and son :)
I wonder if Alex will be back someday?
I know others have said they see a resemblance between Nic and Willy, but I see none at all. Willy is so intense and Nic is extremely bland.
It is an absolute farce to have all the prisoners in together, especially two alleged accomplices.
On the one hand the writers try to make things look somewhat realistic, but this is beyond the pale.
Thanks, Novelera. :) I was accompanying my mother and visiting relatives and my Mum did want to be around for the Olympics, but we didn’t have any tickets for anything. (Did watch the marathon though. :))
True... Nico can't just cut El Jefe out of his life, although he doesn't want to live with him, but it feels like the gravity of Jefe´s actions hasn't been properly acknowledged. (Though I don’t know if Nico knows about the cameras. I have watched the eps, but don’t think that was mentioned…)
I also agree that Willy’s reaction was believable (and not at all overdone). I don’t know what it’s like, but the mere thought of being blind is AWFUL. I’d rather be paralysed neck down. Or dead.
WE know that it’s not going to stick, but the characters don’t, and I’d rather have strong emotional reactions than downplayed ones.
Yeah, I'd be one of those moved by the Nico and Willy scenes, although of course they were hardly unexpected. I don't expect much fom a telenovela and as long as it keeps me entertained with its drama, characters, relationships and even the ridiculous stuff (because they can always provide a good laugh), I'm okay even if it can sometimes (or often) frustrate me. The worst is if the ridiculousness goes too far and/or the novela becomes plain boring. And it's not just this one, but pretty much every one that can work on two (or more) levels.
I don't think Nico and Willy resemble each other when it comes to their personalities, but looks-wise they really do. :)
J in Oregon: Amen! Any episode that is Lorena-free suits me perfectly. And I loved your description - "pasty, martyred face".
Gracias to all for the recaps and posts. I am immensely enjoying all of your comments. Most of them mirror my own thoughts.
@kihaku - Welcome back. How cool that must have been to see the marathon. I hope you had BIG fun.
Lol@ Hombre. Count me among those who are in group 2. Like you, I also believe that the actors must be ready to crack up from some of the things they have to say and do to each other. I would love to see some of the outtakes from this novela. I agree that Willy laid it on a bit too thick with his pity party, but whateva. I've been pretty much playing CV for laughs since D8D's mummy days, although for some reason certain scenes will evoke tears, sadness, anger, or pure disgust (like the Sam/D8D and Alex/D8D scenes the other night).
A few side thoughts about the children:
I agree that JM showed a lack in judgement about just showing up at the jail with them without prepping Angela (who, amnesia side, should have had the compassion and maturity to put a lid on her inappropriate outburst). Those babies have experienced enough trauma. I do believe that the writers must no have children because some of the things they have had the adult parents doing are absurd. Among other things, I'm still shaking my head over how JM and Angela had no problem shacking up in front of those young girls. Then he shacked with the Reptile for a while. Way the go being role models.
As I see it, Jefe is still Nicolás's legal father and guardian so Sam and Willy have no rights to have Nico passed on to them without court proceedings. Legally, Nico has to live with Jefe. Even if Sam is still married to Jefe, she still has to go to court, as his wife, to file legal papers to adopt him despite the fact that she's his bio mom. Unfortunately, she was a minor when her stupid mother acted on her behalf and took the infant Nico away. All of this makes me believe that Jefe will die in this novela.
Now that I think about it, how did JM get custody of Violeta? Did I miss something? Is he still legally married to the Reptile or to Ángela (who could have committed bigamy). Wouldn't either Camilo or Miggy be the next in line to be given custody of Violeta?
And speaking of children, where is Arturo? I know Lorena BETTER be feeding that poor doggie.
I'm definitely not feeling the Alex storyline. Maybe she was used to provide closure to Miggy and as a segueway to the drug trafficking/Fabiola story. Rodrigo should be showing up soon. I feel a breakdown coming for Emma.
Duval is a still a moron.
I'm getting the feeling that Gus might be sacrificed saving Ángela somewhere down the road. He seems to be too devoted to her to be with anyone else.
ROFL @ the speed with which Miggy moves from place to place in this novela. He must have teleported himself to Columbia. Beam me up, Scotty!
NovelaNewbie
NovelaNewbie, I suppose JM is legally married to the Reptile, although an annulment should be a piece of cake.
Ángela was still married to the Rat, who let everyone think he died in the car explosion, when she married JM.
JM's annulment from the Reptile could have lots of bases: they never consummated because the cops nabbed her when they got off the plane; she concealed being a serial killer from him; and, maybe, he might have figured out it was fraud getting a doctor to say she wouldn't live out the night!
But, likely, he has to take some sort of legal step to no longer be married to the Reptile.
Doubtless we'll get a big church wedding for JM and Ángela, with all the kids dressed up and participating in the wedding for the last episode.
Ye Gods, I just had a horrible thought. They're ready for the big church wedding and the Reptile comes to the church and fires a gun at one or the other of the couple! I've seen that happen in a novela!
@novelera - Now THAT would be something - to just leave us hanging at the end with no closure.
NovelaNewbie
Can someone clarify?
When we first heard the Fabiola storyline, I thought they said Emma was actually the son of old Mr Arroyo and his mistress. Now I hear them say Emma is not JM's sister. But she is stil his half sister, correct? And instead of a baby swap, last night Miggy said it was a hospital mixup?
By the way, following along with our naming scheme, how about "FF" for Feral Fabiola?
:o)
J in Oregon
Miggy disarms Feral Fabiola (FF -Thanks, J in Oregon). She asks him to leave her alone.
JM and Gustavo glare at each other over Angie’s head. She is in the infirmary. Apparently, she had one of her terrible headaches after seeing the children.
Miggy introduces himself to FF . She thinks he might be from the army, a policeman or something else that I can’t remember but he tells her that he is a bodyguard.
Willy seems to have bounced back from his despair. He asked Sam what she is wearing.
Miggy tells FF that he has come for her because of a hospital baby switch that happened after she was born. Her real last name is Arroyo.
Emma has not taken her medicine and Peralta finds her huddled in a corner. She tells him that she doesn’t want FF to come and rob the affection JM and the children have for her. Peralta assures her that won’t happen.
Willy tells Sam that even more than being able to see again, he wants to get his mother out of jail.
Nora tells the Reptile that Willy is out of danger. He’s still blind but she’s praying for him. The Reptile asks how she found this out and Nora replies that Ofelia called and told her. Nora wishes that the Reptile would see Ofelia. She was like a mother to the Reptile. The Reptile replies that she doesn’t like women who keep secrets (that’s the pot calling the kettle black!) and Ofelia kept the fact that she is D8D’s sister from her for too long.
D8D tells Dante to find Alex and then he will tell him what to do about her. D8D is concerned that Alex will repent her decision to leave Miggy.
FF hits Miggy over the head with a bottle and escapes from his room. Miggy chases her through a thunderstorm and they end up rolling around in the mud, etc. etc. When Miggy brings FF back to his room, she says that he might as well kill her. She says that she has no one but has been searching for her father. Then she says something about the FBI and CIA that I didn’t understand.
Willy tells Sam that he is afraid he might be blind forever and doesn’t want to be a burden to her. Sam replies that Willy will never be a burden. He is her love, her happiness, her reason to live, the father of her children, her companion, her accomplice and if he can’t see, she’ll be his eyes. [This is the kind of scene between Willy and Sam that I like.]
After Nora asks Angie how she feel about JM, when they think the Reptile is sleeping (we don’t hear the answer), the Reptile tries to strangle Angie. Both Angie and the Reptile are taken to the punishment cell.
Sam tells Esteban and Nic that Willy is going home the next day and will have an operation (first we’ve heard about that) in ten days to try and restore his sight. Sam asked Esteban to help her contact Lorena. Esteban tells her that he called Lorena. She is in Playa del Carmen (I’ve been there!) at her parents’ house and doesn’t have internet so couldn’t respond to Sam’s texts. She plans to return to LA when it is time for her to give birth. Esteban didn’t tell her about Willy’s accident. Sam doesn’t want to wait that long to check on Lorena and plans to go to PdelC after Willy’s operation.
In another very nice scene, Willy tells Sam that he has an idea for the name of their daughter – Luz (light). Sam likes it. Willy says that he hopes that his daughter will bring light to him.
Miggy shows FF pictures of JM, Genesis and Emma. FF says that Emma looks just like her mother. She asks if Miggy is married with children.
Willy comes home. Nic tells him that he admires him for his courage and strength. And Arturo is there!! Yay!
Gustavo gets Angie out of solitary and JM gets the date of the Reptile’s trial moved up.
JM tells the Reptile that he wants Angie to be in another cell. He asks what the Reptile wants to leave Angie alone. She replies that the only thing she wants, she can’t have – him. She swears that she will never let JM and Angie be happy together “hasta muerto,” “until death.”
Willy asks Sam to kiss him claiming that is what the doctor ordered.
FF doesn’t know how to use a shower, has never tasted wine or had hot coffee. She also manages to appear topless to Miggy.
Sam puts on a blindfold to make love with Willy on equal terms.
D8D shows up at his old house. [Sam and Willy should get the locks changed, assuming the door was even locked.] He admits that he is a bad, bad person but he never wanted to kill Willy – Willy was trying to kill him. He has brought the thing that Willy wants the most – the liberty of his mother. He hands Willy a folder that presumably contains the information that will get Nora released from prison. [I think that we can immediately rule out the idea that D8D is doing this out of any real feeling for his son so why is he doing it? To get Angela left alone with the Reptile? To make it easier to use Nora to get revenge on Willy?]
Angie asks JM to tell the children that she thinks about them all the time. She thanks JM for all his help and kindness, etc. JM says that is love and they kiss.
Miggy has told FF that she doesn’t have to come back with him if she doesn’t want to. She doesn’t want to. Miggy is about to leave to return to the US when gunfire erupts!
Pablo’s son Emilio is upset because he’s not allowed to hang out with some of the other kids at school. His Mom Pati is going to look into this.
Jairo’s wife wants to vacation at his brother’s house. Haven’t things calmed down? Not yet, says Jairo.
Carlos, the newspaperman in the jungle, is secretly taking pictures of the big cartel meeting in his pueblo. He doesn’t hear Pablo say to Jorge, tomorrow you have to kill someone, a newspaperman. Jorge doesn’t want to do it, but it’s an order.
Pati visits the parents of the kid who snubbed Emilio, and they say a lot of bull, like it’s just not convenient, not admitting they won’t let their kid hang out with the child of narcos.
Jorge calls Jairo, says HE wants protection (yeah, right), and says you’re in the clear (wrong again), but Chili and Topo are in Medellin after some newsman (wrong again).
Yesenia tells Marino I never believed all the stories about “him”, but I guess they were true. He’s horrible. I’m going to file a complaint. No you’re not, you’d be signing your death sentence says Marino, very forcefully. What, are you going to kill me? Well no, says Marino.
Carlos updates Guillermo, I’m getting the info, you’ll have it soon.
Jairo (having heard from Jorge) wants to up the security for Niki and Guillermo. He’s going to assign half of his guards to them. Uh oh!
Jorge walks into town, observes Carlos walking to his car, calmly pull out a pistol, and shoots him dead in the middle of the street. Later, Pablo and the guys are really happy with him. Crisantos is grinning like a clam. Jorge feels sick. Cristantos almost blows things by asking Pablo how’s the hit on Jiménez going, but Pablo covers, saying we called it off (Jorge was listening).
We see Chili and Topo atop a building, aiming a bazooka. The car always comes around here the same time of day. He’s a dead man. And sure enough, Jairo only has half the normal amount of guards, and here comes his car. But at the last minute, he says to the driver, let’s vary the route today. Turn right. The cars turns off just before it was in range of the bazooka, promptly Chili to say in disgust, this guy has more lives than a cat!
Guillermo receives the sad news about Carlos. Regina goes on national TV, announces that murder of a journalist in the Amazonas, and openly blames the “Extraditables.”
Marcos Herber is still generally pissed off, mainly about the fact that Jiménez is still alive, and he calls Pablo a traitor. Big mistake. Guns are pulled all around, but in the end, Pablo lays down his, and there’s a tense peace. But Pablo is running out of patience with Marcos, who seems high half of the time.
Pati opens the family safe, takes out a gun, when Enelia enters. That’s not how we resolve things, honey. Men do that. We women have other ways. But suegra, they won’t let my children play with the others at school. They say we’re poor people with money. How could we ever change that? Enelia, the voice of wisdom tells her, You can never change the fact that you were poor and then got money, unlike those upper crusty boasters. But you’re a woman with POWER. You need to act like a woman with power. Use your power.
Guillermo, Jairo and General Ulloa have a meeting. Carlos was getting together evidence, but he was too late. I think Guillermo decides he’s sending Niki (or maybe himself) to the jungle to investigate. I’m getting a bad feeling about this!!
Thanks for the recap, Jean! I think D8D is going to give Willy a choice. If I free your mother, you have to give up Sam. Choose between Nora and Sam. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.
I loved the scenes with Feral Fabiola. She sure knows how to be almost naked as much as possible, definite plusses in my book :) Of course when Miggy said, you're just a girl, short and skinny, she responded "I'm of legal age." But an old guy like you, I just thought you'd have a family by now. Miggy goes, wait a minute, I'm pretty young! Great stuff! :)
Thanks so much for the recap.
I loved the Fabiola-Miguel scenes too. Can't wait to see how this storyline goes on :p
Liked the way CuteCecilia referred to Alex. DD said esa mujer ya no esta with Miguel thanks to him. What is DD's plans for Alex and Nora? Whatever his plan is, I do want Nora in the show!
Excellent recap, Jean. I don't know about the rest of you, but I like this novela a lot. The plot keeps moving and every episode seems over almost as soon as it begins, at least for me. And I can't always predict what's going to happen.
I've got a bad feeling about Alex. When D8D was talking with Dante on the phone, he mentioned something about El Verdugo being pleased. He might be planning to ship her off to Colombia to prostitute herself for that guy.
I thought it was pretty funny when Ángela and the Reptile got into it in the cell. She helped foil a robbery at the supermarket with Gus and totally kicked butt over some tough men. But, when she's mixing it up with the Reptile, it's classic female hair pulling!
Do we think Arturo can be converted from a guard dog to a seeing-eye dog, at least temporarily?
I also liked FF and Miggy's scenes, especially Miggy. Porras has tremendous comedy skills.
I don't think D8D would ask Willy for Sam in exchange for getting his mother out. He must know that would never happen. He might have some other idea in mind to get her, hard to believe he'd give up. But a straight out trade, why would Sam even do that. She despises him.
I think the novela's portrayal of Emma's mental problems is somewhat realistic. Even landing a very nice papacito like Pablo would not erase the problems stemming from being bi-polar.
I wonder if FF's comments about the CIA and the FBI are because they mentioned early on that she was hiding in the jungle from some narcos. I also wondered if her father could be El Verdugo. But, if that were the case, he wouldn't try to harm her. So, who knows?
No time to comment in detail, but I really appreciate these daily recaps.
Yes, Feral Fabiola is also very Feisty and temporarily Ferocious.
Appreciatively ....
Thanks, Hombre, great recap. Wow, that Herber is completely unhinged. I was pretty sure I understood what Escobar said, but I looked it up. When he told Herber off, he said something about metiendo perico. This is Colombian slang for doing cocaine, especially low grade stuff.
I thought Guillermo Cano said he himself was going to the Amazon region.
What did you think, Hombre and/or NovelaMaven of Pati taking the gun from the safe? Was she contemplating suicide or going to the very luxurious house of Emilio's friend and threatening them? Another amazing scene for the Enelia actress. I don't know if anyone reading this is a Sopranos veteran, but it reminded me a bit of Carmela putting pressure on a teacher to write a glowing recommendation for Meadow so she'd get into a good college.
Poor Jorge. The actor conveys very well the unbearable stress and fear that he experiences every moment. I was surprised he actually did the hit. I thought he spoke with Jiménez about them asking him to do terrible things and was there a witness protection scheme in place. I don't think Jairo said no to him, so why didn't he run then?
I liked the scenes between Sam and Willy. :) Finally feeling (and liking) them as a couple again.
Miggy and Fabiola could be interesting. I thought their interactions were amusing, but I'm wary about the age difference. (Especially since FF also acts/appears SO young).
Novelera, good point about the traditional hair pulling. :) That ALWAYS seems to happen. Maybe subconsciously both Sam and Angie feel like they have to fight on the "same level" as their opponent, so the fight could be "fair". :P
Oh! I’d love to see Arturo as a seeing-eye dog!!!!
NovelaNewbie: Thanks!
Technically Nico lives with Sam and Willy though. (And I guess sometimes with El Jefe? I don’t know). The situation is a little unconventional and the way they act towards El Jefe a little odd considering what he has done. I figured El Jefe would die or go to prison, but death seems more likely at the moment.
A while back JM got custody of Violeta when Luis alerted social services that Angie was an unfit mother, but I don’t know if that stuck. It could be that he got custody thanks to the (bigamous) marriage.
I hope JM and Sam get their marriages annulled ASAP. (unless they already have.)
J in Oregon:
The whole Fabiola thing popped up so out of nowhere and without a proper explanation that I didn’t quite get it either... (I thought that Fabiola was the daughter of Juan Ignacio and a mistress. :)) I think now it has been clarified that Fabiola is the daughter of the Arroyos while Emma is the daughter of some other couple (and not biologically related to JM).
Thanks Kihaku--I'm pretty sure that originally Fabiola was described as the daughter of old Juan Ignacio and a mistress. As I recall JM met one of his father's other mistresses for lunch and she is the one who first mentioned Fabiola. But as you say, the writers may have changed course. I'm trying to keep pace but it's not easy! :o)
