Por ella soy Eva #12 8/1/2012 Discussion Post: The Plot Gallops Forward.
I suspect that JPCruzer had computer problems and wasn't able to post last night's recap. I'm creating this post so we have someplace to discuss it.
Several significant events happened in Wednesday's show. Juan and Helena do the deed. In the morning he proposes. He tries to tell his big secret but he stops when she says she’ll never forgive the baby-daddy for lying to her. When Juan tells his parents he’s engaged, mama is thrilled and papa is critical. Helena delivers the project to the tourism commission. Juan resigns so he can be more honest with Helena. But Pluto convinces Adriano to get Juan to stay on until after the project competition, for the sake of company image. Onesimo gets Eugenia to sign a contract, telling her it’s for a movie role. Juan asks for Helena’s hand from Eduardo, but he’s silent and walks out. With his women, Eduardo has added rude whistling to his silent treatment. Juan starts to tell Helena, “Yo no soy…” when he gets a call that his mother has disappeared and he must leave. Eduardo tells Helena, “Juan is not the person you think he is. He will deceive you. You’ve been warned.”

So it's finally sinking in with me that this is a dramedy, not a comedy. I wanted Helena's mom to strangle Eduardo. It's hard for me to imagine he was ever a decent guy before Helena's novio abandoned her.
JC really should've told Helena the truth "before" they slept together. I'm gonna miss his fake Argentine accent when the truth comes out.

Niecie, I figure that Ed was a naco version of Pluto. He knew that Silvia would inherit the house just like Pluto knew Antonia would inherit a stake in GI. Ed's goal was a cooking/cleaning/sex slave, plus a free house. All he had to do was charm her enough to accept his proposal. Silvia is rather plain and unexciting; she probably didn't have many suitors. Heart of gold, yes. But young bucks don't value that.

I finally figured out part of the plot. The Tourism Commission is holding a competition (concurso) for a project. That's why Adriano was rushing Juan to get his turned in. That's why GI hopes the PlayaM project will save them. Helena delivered her project to the Tourism Commission, then she called Alberta Travel and told them, "All we have to do is wait for the competition to close, and for them to reach a verdict."
Notice that when Juan proposed, Helena didn't actually say "yes." She was silent. He said, "That smile - does it mean yes?" She answered, "What do you think?" and gave him a big kiss. But she never actually said yes. The same thing happened in Fea, and the next morning everything fell apart. JC should've learned his lesson - don't quit until you get a commitment! Maybe that's why he made sure to talk to her parents the same day! (jiji)

From the previews this is leaping and bounding forward. That's good because I am drowning in the mess of evidence that is being set up against Juan. And it doesn't look like he will disappear to search for his mother before getting caught by Helena. Oi.

Thanks for filling in Paula. I only saw a little bit of this last night but it's hard to watch the anvils lining up, even if we know it's only temporary.
Helena's mom is not a babalicious but I've always considered her attractive (she played an everyday mom in Dinero) Have to concede she wouldn't be deemed a catch by a macho male. But then he's no catch either!

Argh!! I'm with you, Bonney - with Eduardo, the silent treatment or whistling are both better than listening to his verbal abuse.
I think Eduardo is sour partly because he resents being at his wife's mercy. He can bad-mouth women all he wants, but she has the upper hand, financially, and that really bugs him. She's too nice to kick him out and she'd probably feel it was her own fault if he had another heart attack as a result of standing up to him. That's really all Eduardo has left. (Not that I have any sympathy!)

The whistling silent treatment bugged me so much, that I had to change the channel! Seriously, I wanted to throw something at the tv and was in real danger of doing so. Thank God I don't have an Eduardo-like person in my life because things would get violent, really quickly. LOL!
I'm with you Vivi. I wanted her to smack that whistle out of him. Or learn to whistle so she can get even next time he demands dinner. "Oh, you wanted dinner? Sorry. Didn't hear you over my whistling".
I've been half watching due to Olympics and trying to keep up with 3 of these. Does Elena need to live at home or is she helping out mom? I think living at the office would be better than living with Ed.

Vivi & Kelly, that's great! We're supposed to hate him. So it's working! That's why TNs are so popular - they bring out that emotional reaction. Don't you just love the cathartic effect of screaming at the TV set? Or am I the only one who does that?
I think Helena needs to live with her parents for childcare reasons. She doesn't have a car and neither do her parents, so transportation to drop Lalito off and pick him up would be a nightmare. Also, she wasn't making much money at her GI job.
I don't know if she can afford to move out and get a car yet, but if I had to live with someone like Eduardo I would be HIGHLY MOTIVATED to find a way to make that money ASAP.

She has to pay back her debt to Ed before she can put money anywhere else. That's why she's so excited about her project - pay off dad and get a place for her and Lalo (he asked for a dog too, but she wasn't sure). Also she's walking on eggshells because of his health. The last time she stood up to him, he had a heart attack. She's afraid that if she defies him it will literally kill him.

Eduardo makes me angry, as well. I couldn't believe the scene at the dinner table, when EE (Evil Eduardo) told Lalito "Let them serve you." As though his mother and abuela were nothing more than servants. I would have served EE with a dish in the face or, possibly, a dinner of dog food.

I believe JPCruzer is at guitar camp this week. He should be back next week. We don't have a full team on this show so I appreciate those who step in to fill the gap!
